but who taught you to duel?
Hogwarts. Specifically dueling club.
Professor Dumbledore heavily implied to me I should join a formal extracurricular activity early on at Hogwarts. I assume he wanted to keep me in line and for me to foster connection with my fellow students. I joined chess club in my first week and this seemed to satisfy him, but I kept an eye out for a second opportunity of interest, mainly because I wanted to convey a sense of earnestness to get the old man to leave me alone.
After nearly getting caught in the crossfire of two fueding fifth years that November, I decided dueling club may well be worth investigating.
I was in awe from my very first meeting. The captain was a sixth year ravenclaw - McNally. He was very formal and by the book, and was especially fond of stance practice and drills. I found such things tedious but came to appreciate his approach. After he graduated the captain was a Gryffindor - Proust. He was wilder and more... creative in his form and ideas, and had always argued with McNally in years prior. I learned a lot about improvisation from him, even if I find him over the top and telegraphing.
In my fourth year the captain was a Slytherin girl - Rowle. She had a different style altogether, a sneakier, tighter dueling style. She taught us not to telegraph the way Proust had, which was befitting of her and admirable, though I found it too...lacking for my own use. Too subtle.
By sixth year, when I became captain, I had cobbled together a style that was all three of them plus something of my own invention.
It evolved from there; I have had the opportunity to watch and learn from masters across the world, but I credit all the foundations of my skill to my classmates at Hogwarts.

Delphini Lestrange has survived her first year at Hogwarts.
It wasn't quite what she expected. No one warned her about the potential for three-headed dogs, detentions in the forest, manipulative mentors, and the actual Dark Lord.
Hogwarts, unexpectedly, has become a battleground.
As Delphi's second year begins, she's forced to realize that the battle isn't over. There's blood on the walls of Hogwarts, sinister whispers that only she and Harry can hear, and an innocuous little diary casting light on secrets that she'll wish had never been revealed.
And even as terror stalks the corridors, turning students into stone, the Dark Lord is still out there somewhere, eager to regain his physical form and put an end to Harry Potter once and for all.

You're so right, they'll go down swinging for that boy. If anyone tries starting shit with Lucan, Sebastian is roping them into a choke hold so MC can take the shot
