that has a supporting character with dwarfism, and he's really close with his older brother, who is pretty tall. would it be weird if i sometimes had the younger ask his older brother pick him up so he can reach things? its supposed to be a cute little quirk of theirs that shows their bond, but i'm worried it might come off as weird for some reason. also, do you guys could give me a couple more tips on writing a character with dwarfism, if you have any? thanks in advance! I just wanna say that because of the ask backlog and the rotation of mods I'm afraid I don't know what ask your talking about, but I'm sure it was simply just a question that was in good faith of curiosity which is what this blog is for 😊

And to answer your question, I'm curious with how old the younger brother is. I haven't been picked up since I was probably about five to help me reach something and even then I was getting yelled at for climbing counters and such. If the younger brother isn't a very young child I would avoid this.

Being picked up is a general no. if you wouldn't do it to anyone else don't do it to someone with dwarfism or any person with a disability. Unless it's under their explicit permission, or help with transferring (from say a mobility aid to a bed or another place etc) or life or death situation, it's almost always a no.

Instead using things like the broom handle to hit tall switches or they even have these things called a "Reacher Grabber" that makes grabbing high up things super easy. Stool also are a big help, the small collapsible ones are easy to carry and move, and certain placed handles help too. Tall people are an advantage I will say though. Having the older brother bring something down to the younger brother is fine. Also have the younger brother climb things and stack objects and use the environment around him so he can get what he wants. I assure you this is what most of us do a lot.

A few more writing tips I have would be:

Research different types of dwarfism and find out which one you want your character to have and how this will affect him. It doesn't have to be mentioned at all but you knowing what type will give you much more insight into building this character.

Don't be afraid to give them mobility aids. A lot of people with Dwarfism have them and use them because they help us and they're pretty common in the community. (Do plenty of research there too if they do have one!)

A joke once or twice, especially if the two characters are very very close, about his dwarfism is okay! Me and my friends joke about mine all the time but quantity control along with a joke in good taste and timing is very important.

The character getting frustrated with his disability is okay too! It happens to me a lot but usually I'll find a solution right after to the thing that frustrated me and that frustration is gone as quick as it came.

If he's having a long conversation or an eye-to-eye conversation with someone that's tall, have them sit down somewhere, get to eye-level (I wouldn't have them lean over to his height though). It really does start to hurt your neck and head after looking up at everyone for so long.

And lastly, I certainly use my height to my advantage in multiple different scenarios. Small hands and small containers or spaces are very compatible with one another. And even though I have to shop in the small teens or kids section for clothes or shoes, I will say certain things are made better for kids (for some reason). But I also know how to hem my own clothes and how to fix them! A lot of people with dwarfism make or modify their own clothes. I can't tell you the amount of times I've gotten discounts at buffets and restaurants because people just assume I'm a child and I'm not gonna protest the discount either so. There are many fun aspects to having dwarfism, I have more fun with it and get more laughs and community out of it than frustration or anything else.

I know there's many more little things that I'm forgetting right now but the dwarfism community could probably add a few things too. Good luck writing!

any1 hav any tips on brands that make good sippy cups? asking as a disabled adult who started using sippy cups recently bc i can't drink anything from a regular mug or cup w/out spilling and also hurting my wrists, i previously used water bottles 2 combat this problem but i was still having the problem of them being 2 big 4 my hands and also i then had 2 individually clean all the straws which is a lot 4 some1 w/ my lvl of chronic fatigue and brain fog, w/ sippy cups so far im having an easier time since they r smaller which means they fit better in my hands and also they usually hav a spout but not a straw and i find the spout way easier 2 clean since i don't gotta get in there w/ a special brush like i do w/ straws

tl;dr: help a disabled himbo who probably? also has dwarfism? by giving me some recs 4 sippy cups

-no sippy cups w/ straws since that makes it difficult 2 clean

-no sippy cups specifically designed 4 adults since they would probably b 2 big 4 my hands given that the 1s that r made 4 kids r a better size 4 me

-1s with handles r preferable since they help me keep my grip better but recs 4 1s that don't hav handles r also okay :)

-must b no spill or at least very difficult 4 it 2 spill

Defending Mineta Minoru - Comic Relief Role

Welcome! This is your beautiful grape juice enjoyer writing to you! Today I will be talking about something light, which is: Mineta comic relief role! Grab a snack cause this is a big one of a post.

This blog has no intention to attack anyone or/and the fandom. It's simply to bring awareness to the community to something that isn't noticed by many. It's just an opinion. Also keep in mind that I stopped watching the anime around the time [spoilers ahead, maybe] Deku found his extra abilities with One For All, so pretty much everything is based on things I remember.

Many fans that hate Mineta feel outraged with him having the comic relied role in the show. One thing is not finding the character funny, that's totally fine, but wanting or not Mineta is the comic relief character and here are some reasons.

Reason number 1: He's a punchline, literally. The creator makes him do and say stupid things just so the characters can punch him. I laugh horribly every time I see that scene when Tsuyu slaps Mineta with her tongue!

Reason number 2: His outfit. My man isn't dumb! He knows he can't catch girls with the way he looks, so he plays the funny card. HIS HERO COSTUME IS A GRAPE BOWL! IT'S FUNNY! (Doesn't matter if we laugh at it or not. It's ridiculous, cute and funny)

Reason number 3: Culture. I saw a video once from a youtuber saying that each culture has it's own values on what they find funny and each one has also their problematic puns that are socially known as wrong but accepted as a joke. It's not a surprise that Japan pictures pervert characters as comic reliefs in anime. In my culture we also see pervert people/sexual jokes as good comedy, but that's it. We know it's wrong and I swear to you that I slapped the shit out of everyone who was a pervert towards me and even with that I still like Mineta. Some cultures find funny puns about masculine sexual abuse like "Don't drop soap in prison", some find funny homophobic puns, no culture is perfect and innocent and there's nothing wrong with it. What's wrong is when people don't know to separate the pun between reality.

Reason number 4: Balls. Yeah, we all like to say jokes about balls and Mineta has infinite huge balls to entertain us for a loooooooooooooong time! (If you look well at it, the o's look like balls) Cannot go wrong with the balls puns, every one laughs at it. As the good AC/DC once said "I got big balls, he's got big balls, she's got big balls, but we got the biggest balls of them all!"

Reason number 5: Character design. Mineta is short, no doubts in that and his height is many times used as a pun. "They're making fun of people with dwarfism!" (I had to use google translator for this one, correct me if I said it in the wrong way) No, they're using his characteristics for comedy! Have you ever seen those videos made by dwarfs creators where they compare a normal sized spoon in the hands of their tall friends, but gigantic next to them? It's not making fun of them in an insultive way! The mha team doesn't turn it a bad thing on the character and many times is an advantage for him while still being funny!

That's all for today. Two long posts in one day? Damn, I was inspired this night! I would like to come back at some points here in the future and maybe I might do a second part of this theme.

Thank you for reading my words. I may be a fan of Mineta, but I don't defend his pervert actions and I'm the first to admit he's nasty during the show. Let's see...what could I talk about for the next topic? Let's try and see Pervert Characters and understand why many pervert characters aren't judged by their actions and deemed problematic by the fandom, but why Mineta is the exception at the fandom eyes.

I hate beards and I want to tell you to shave yours but maybe some nice Big Person will pick you up, put you on a table, and forcibly shave you. Maybe get a friend to stop you from wiggling around.

As a general rule of thumb I don't reply to hate comments (i figure just because some fools want to waste their time doesn't mean i gotta) but I get a particularly large number of hate comments on my beard so I figured I'd address it.

Believe it or not, I am afab transgender! So it was hormone therapy that blessed me with the beard that I have, which is often called "pube-y" and ugly by cis men on the internet.

But in the trans world, mine is quite impressive and glorious! And I love it tremendously ^^ It may not be as thick and bushy as that of a cis man, but I haven't exactly made it my mission to be like them. I set out to wear dressed with a beard on my face, and I've suceeded in my gender goals ^^ So know that any further negative comments on my appearance will be deleted and reported, and have an excellent day!

are there any visible signs that a horse came from an unethical breeder? im trying to design a creature that's supposed to look horse-like and unhealthy at first glance, and im not sure what features to exaggerate to get that across. so far all ive got is make it too skinny. if there's anything in the posture or build of a horse that signals the breeder put their foals' health at risk in their effort to breed new traits, i'd like to incorporate it, but im not sure how to find that information.

There's a couple of things you can do. Quarter Horses bred exclusively for in-hand shows are often extremely overmuscled and just don't look right:

Then there's breeders who breed "mini shetland ponies" or other mini pony breeds for the smallest possible size. These breeders usually disregard any health concerns, as the unusually small size of their ponies has a huge impact on their joints, or even how their teeth fit in their skull. Dwarfism is a genetic defect that is relatively common in those extremely small breeds.

Here's a pony with dwarfism. You can just tell that the body parts don't look proportional to one another.

If I remember correctly, LINUJ mentioned in an ask that Kanata, unlike Teruya, wouldn't had a growth spurt if she had survived, so her having dwarfism could be plausible.

Also, there's too that drawing that LINUJ did of how everyone on class 79 would have looked like if they had survived and joined the Kisaragi Foundation, and Kisaragi!Kanata is still as short as ever.

Someone is sending me a "personal vent" over on my main blog but I've got to be honest, it's either a fetish or he's referencing a movie I've never seen.

Like it started off normal enough; he asks me if I've seen a new Netflix documentary about a woman who has pituitary dwarfism which makes her look like an 8 year old even though she's 23.

He claims he has a similar condition and is facing some abuse and bullying because of this. He asks me not to publish his Asks because the abuse is partially coming from his family; that's also reasonable. All of this was in his intro Ask.

I was not suspicious until he actually began telling his story, which he sent to me in parts and to which I stopped responding because it pinged my "bullshit" alarm pretty quickly. He's clearly waiting after each part and only sends the next after I respond/express sympathy at each part.

He claims he is a teenaged cis boy, and he was taken to a little girls' birthday party and the girls there forced him to pretend marry a teddy bear, specifically "Barney the bear". Then he claimed they made him wear the "baby Anna's baptism" dress and veil.

I stopped responding to him because I'm 100% sure it's fake, I just don't know what it is he's referencing or if this is just a personal fantasy he has. I don't appreciate being used as part of someone's fetish without consent.

a dwarf variant being teased in 2017 (you can still see the sketches on xylax's blog if you search 'primordial dwarfism') with no follow-up to this day haunts me. i get that it'd be a massive undertaking artwise, but at this point a refresher to dwarves is more needed than a new primal or a new hybrid to me, and i don't even have personal interest in owning / breeding dwarves. i just think it's a shame dwarves are so expensive to pass down proportional to value - they should be a viable project!
