A little segment from Ch. 11 of The Azure Sky that I'm working on.

Emily reaches a hand absentmindedly to her amulet. It feels cold again, prickly with static. Unpleasant. 

An instense spark jolts her finger. She recoils. 

A rush of half-faded images, a memory, impress upon her mind. Her eight-year-old self trembling under a quilt on her grandmother’s couch, crying because there was a wailing thunderstorm that night and she hated the way the world looked when it was lit up by lightning. 

They illuminated the dark faces in the trees, the ones too melded with the night to see any other time. And she begged her grandmother to make them go away. 

Her grandmother smiled pityingly, and whispered that she was too old to be hunting spirits anymore, but not to worry, that the dark things were farther away than they appeared, and that there were barriers that kept them locked away. Because that’s how the light deals with darkness, by casting it far away. 

Of course there were the few who dealt with things by swallowing the shadows, but her grandmother told her never to pay them much mind. That you should just tell them white lies because they tended to be grumpy and might not otherwise help anyone with the darkness. 

Little Emily objected. Her parents said that lying was always wrong. 

Her grandmother only smiled gently, tucked a strand of hair behind the child’s ear. Whispered, “Sometimes the only way to love is to lie”.

Welcome back to “Rev made another sona whoops”

The fandom? Lego Elves

Meet Reven Tailwinds! She’s a wind elf who travels all over Elvendale as part of a pirate crew! Being able to manipulate wind on a pirate ship is highly useful, and Reven assists in navigation whenever the ship needs an extra hand. The pirate crew is Reven’s family, since her father went missing a long time ago. They happened to rescue her home village from one of Elvendale’s dark elves, and the crew took Reven in. She hopes to find her father one day by joining them. Tagging along is her pet Hippogriff Esperos, who is able to be on board thanks to a stable area existing in the ship’s lower decks.

Reven has an excitable demeanour and is always looking forwards to discovering something new. She’s always longed to see the world and loves being out on the open sea. No matter what the crew finds themselves up against, Reven always carries a sense of wonder with her and can’t help but be giddy whenever something interrupts an otherwise peaceful day. Between learning how to navigate and improving her ability with a sword, the wind elf writes down everything she can about her experiences so that she’ll always have something to remember her time at sea by. While she had qualms at first about stealing and tries her best not to do any lethal harm, she’s assured by the rest of the crew that they’re doing what they’re doing for the right reasons. And they’d never lie to her… right?

Good morning casually going to summon the lego elves fandom here by talking about an oc idea I have.

So Shadow bats.

They're adorable little poof bats. Need I say more?

They also seem to be able to travel from the shadow world to Elvendale on their own without Noctura's assistance, as seen by Vespe in the webisodes, who was in Elvendale spying on the elves prior to all the magic being stolen. (This may have been possible since Noctura had all the fire magic in Elvendale at the time, but then again we don't know when exactly Vespe entered Elvendale or when Noctura drained all fire magic.)

Vespe also shows that the shadow bats aren't under mind control or some sort of magic that forces then to be loyal to Noctura. If they wanted to they can literally betray her. They have their own free will and can act however they want.

With those in mind here's my oc idea:

Basically an air elf who found one of the shadow bats injured and decided to take care of it. They probably worked with various other animals before so like an animal trainer/healer elf. I'm debating if I want to give her a dragon that kinda looks like a bat, but not exactly a bat. (Wyverns maybe?)

Because of the Shadow bat's origins they never seen a bat before and have no idea what it is, other than that it's precious and should be reunited with it's family.

Also who wouldn't want to put a cute poof bat inside a little pouch
