No what fucks be up the most is ppl saying “Ned was my least fav try guy anyway” cuz I doubt some of that is actually true, but like after Eugene, he was my fav. I loved his recipes, his silly squidward laugh, his goofiness in videos. That’s why this news hurts. Because I enjoyed his content, his energy, how fun videos were with him in them. He was such a fun guy to watch for me personally and he felt relatable and easy to love.

It’s such a betrayal to how he portrayed himself in videos and I’m disgusted with myself a little bit actually, for falling for his apparent façade of “good wife guy”, just like I did with John mulaney.

I got into OCs first, probably around 7th grade (~12-13 I think?)! I didn't even know the term OC, but a friend of mine at the time got me into anime by recommending Soul Eater! We made self inserts and rp'd as them, and eventually I made more versions of that self insert for other universes, then I got into making my own universes and filling them up with other characters and whatnot!! By then I knew what an OC was/is, but that was my OC journey and I've been going strong ever since!!

(WARNING FOR HNK MANGA + ANIME SPOILERS BELOW)

As for how I got into HnK, I saw a post here on Tumblr of a gif set from the anime, specifically the winter arc scene before Antarc gets taken, and is attaching the gold onto Phos' arms. I thought "woah this anime looks gorgeous" and.... promptly forgot about it. Then one day I was searching for something to watch. I recalled that post and luckily, I remembered the English title from the tags, searched Land of the Lustrous, and binged the whole series (still hopelessly waiting for a continuation of it). Then I turned to the manga and read all of that (I believe at the time it was only up to Phos just returning from the moon for the first time, to gather some gems to take back with them). And I have been reading since! Every day, I check that twitter account that counts down to the next chapter release lmao.

(I swear to y’all, imma go back to Mortal Kombat. But I have to rant. Imma pretend it’s the early 2000s and rant about Twilight. If you’re pro any of the Cullens, don’t even read this)

I’m not saying Jacob should’ve kissed Bella, but my thing is this; Jacob kisses you and you call him a dog and say you hope Edward kills him. Edward has done foul shit the ENTIRE SERIES and you let him slide repeatedly. There’s this part where Bella gets mad and says something like “at least Edward an act like an adult”. Bitch. He IS AN ADULT. What do you mean? Bella is way more harsh when it comes to Jacob and I don’t get why she holds so much anger towards this child and holds him to this high standard but has none of these feelings when it comes to the old ass adult she’s with. Since I’m typing, Stephanie Myers is weird and idc what y’all say. I remember Bella described Leah as beautiful in an EXOTIC way. MA’AM? It feels like she realized how asshole-ish the Cullens are and tried to make the wolves seem worse but all I’m thinking is “they’re definitely in the right when it comes to not liking the Cullens”.

The wolves don’t like vampires because they’re a safety risk. The Cullens being there (keep in mind, they’re rich enough to leave and never come back) is triggering these young ass people to turn into wolves. The Cullens don’t like the wolves because?? They have no valid reason. Edward constantly says the wolves are dangerous and yeah, they’re not the safest to be around but compared to vampires they’re a lot safer. Bella has only been harmed by vampires and only the vampires have tried to end her life. James, Laurent, Jasper, Victoria, the new born army that’s forming, the Volturi. She’s only been in danger because of the wolves once. Like, I don’t get how Stephanie expects us to agree with Edward when there’s proof that the wolves are way safer. Not 100% safe but better than vampires. And while I love Seth, I swear Seth is the “you’re not like the others” character. They only like Seth because he doesn’t hold animosity towards them as if that animosity isn’t valid. It’s giving “you’re not like other blacks, you talk proper” (ik he’s not black, it’s an example). I’m finishing the books because I’m too deep to quit but I wish they let Victoria finish the job.

that cry post has got me thinking...tell me how your oc cries.

i'll start:

Logan: almost always a silent crier, bites his lip and lets his shoulders shake while the tears start coming out without a sound. but when he DOES make sound, it's LOUD. it's like a dam bursting, years of repressed crying coming out and he can't stop. he feels exhausted afterwards.

Derek: sobbing-in-his-hands kinda guy. he'll try to fight it, but he usually breaks down, and you just see his body DEFLATE, like his strings have been cut. probably some hiccupping as well.

Dirk: bro cannot SEE when he cries. the tears make his eyelashes itch and then his eyes start burning real bad, he has to wipe at them or just squeeze them shut. definitely a hysterical laughter kind of crier.

Teddy: rarely ever cries, tries to let nobody SEE him cry, but when he does, he gets such a runny nose and it's so embarrassing for him to not only be crying but SNOTTING everywhere.

Everyone in the office thinks that Emmett, my mad m. s/i, is in love with Joan. And that's true, since in S1 he spends all his time blatantly admiring her. (And for the rest of the show too). Including Joan, who does think he's lovely. But the thing is, he'd never fit into her ambitions. Major show spoilers btw.

Joan is chasing the "dream". Her idea of success is to get married to a handsome man who can provide for her, so she can leave the work place forever. This is what she wants more than anything. Emmett isn't able to do that for her. And they both know that, so there's no way she would ever choose him. No matter how much they may like each other.

Joan does go on to marry a man who does fit that bill. However, like all aspects of the american dream, it doesn't work out the way she thought it would. Especially not in a decade where society is starting to undergo a drastic change. Despite this, and the slight resentment Emmett has, he supports her through everything.

Meanwhile, he becomes best friends with Ken. They're similar but contrasting in the way Ken shamelessly flirts around while Em seems stuck on unrequited love, but they're both gentle creatives at their core. It's unclear exactly when Em falls in love with Ken, but it's likely sooner rather than later. Once again he fell for someone who won't want him, but he really doesn’t care.

This continues for a painfully long time (like 4 seasons!). It's a stalemate it seems until one day Ken abruptly discovers two things - 1, Em likes men, and 2, that Ken feels jealous of the guy he just saw him kiss. Cue gay panic and confusion. He eventually confronts Em about all of this and the two come to terms with the fact the feelings have been mutual for a very long time. Their exploration of their romantic attraction to each other begins.

Joan is one of the first, and only ones, to learn of this development. Since its the 60s, they go with the whole "roommates" thing as a cover, and cus they've always been close like that it goes unnoticed. Meanwhile, Joanie gets her divorce (and her baby), and she has a conversation with Em about regrets. Namely that she wishes she had chosen him, which causes Em to get angry.

They have an open and honest conversation about their feelings about love and relationships. Joan realizes now that the only way she would be with someone again is if she really loves them, something which she's not sure she's ever experienced. And Em reveals he never cared about relationships or sex either way, and that he's never slept with Ken despite their romantic relationship. Em and Joan are just happy to have each other in their lives, even if their feelings aren't exactly romantic. Em did feel that way for her once, but the years have changed that. They both grew and moved on.

The series ends with Ken and Em supporting Joan in her new business and single motherhood. Em joins her company as creative director, and Ken continues his career as a writer. And they both help Ken adjust to going blind in one eye too.
