I had different plans for the main sketch, sadly I couldn’t implement all of them so I just had to work with what I had done so far; replicating some of the artstyles were fun as always though, gotta love loyalty to the ogs (for the most part)

Also, keep in mind that some additions are due to recent playing, which are specifically: Kill the plumber, Enough plumbers, Don’t Push the button, Exit Path and Checkpoint. Catch the Candy is a throwback tho, so it doesn’t exactly count.

Let’s talk about the Watch What Happens (reprise) and why Only Davey could’ve sang it.

Like at this point they’re pushing the Katherine and Jack agenda, why shouldn’t she be his inspiration to keep going in this moment???

And the answer is cause she can’t grasp the situation fully!!!

Let me make it very clear that this is Not Katherine slander. I love her. I think this scene highlights the differences in their struggles and upbringing in a really brilliant way.

When she sees Jack wants to quit in this scene she’s so harsh with him. Doesn’t try to empathize with his situation at all, wants him to just buck up and keep going! Because for her, in her situation, with her upbringing, that’s the only way to get anywhere! She wants to be a reporter? Well she can’t listen when she’s told no. She has to push ahead no matter what. She can’t show fear and she can’t show weakness cause she’ll be called a girl like it’s a bad thing and have it used against her. But she doesn’t see her privilege in this! That in coming from a rich powerful family her physical safety can not be put in jeopardy! Her worst case scenario is moving back home and having to deal with her family’s idea of what it means to be a women in this time period. And don’t get me wrong that’s horrible, it would be a terrible and unfair outcome.

But it doesn’t threaten her physical safety!! (Not to say this is true for all women in her position but the show paints a picture that her dad does genuinely love her in his extremely misguided way and we never see him threaten her physical well being or even to stop bank rolling her). She can’t understand that sometimes you need to let a fight pass you by to survive. She doesn’t understand what it really means for Crutchie to be in the Refuge until later. So she pushes hard and it would���ve just ended in a fight where her and Jack miss each other’s points entirely.

But Davey gets it. Maybe not to the extent Jack does, but Jack said it himself Davey’s dads physical safety being jeopardized at work has threatened his whole family’s housing and food security. Something that could’ve been prevented with a union. He knows that this isn’t safe, he fully grasps the danger they’re in, to an extent that Katherine can’t because she’s never threatened by it. Not really. For her and her rich friends she involves this could just be a pet project (she would never view it that way of course) but if this all goes pear shaped all she has to live with is the guilt not the consequences. Her life continues with maybe some delays depending how long her blacklisting lasts.

But for Davey this could be the choice that means they can’t afford food or can’t pay rent. This could be the choice that means Les can’t go to school and his dad doesn’t have a safe place to recover. He gets it, he matches Jack’s fear, but he can’t backdown when they’re making real changes that Jack is having a hard time seeing in the wake of losing Crutchie to an institution that is a large source of his trauma. He needed empathy and hope not an ass kicking and Davey delivered.

Without him that scene would’ve ended with Jack running away a lot sooner and a lot more permanently. Rant over. Hopefully this is semi-well articulated it’s late and I couldn’t sleep til I got this out.

so I saw the Wembley Park Theatre production last night and if u don't wanna be spoiled dni

But if you have no chance of seeing it here are some of the little details <3

First of all the casting was perfect???

Michael Alomka dove into a more sensitive part of Jack - and it was super interesting

Katherine was so much more headstrong and it was suchhhh a new flavour of her - Katherine has never been one of my favourite characters but god she was so strong and wild and unduly it was brilliant.

Ryan Kopel as Davey has to be my standout tho - he seemed much younger in the role than BF did, and much more uncertain and afraid - I loved it - and his development oh my god he became boisterous and ahhhhhhhhh

Docket as Crutchie was brilliant he was much less happy-go-lucky than AKB was and oh it worked - he was frustrated and angry and real.

AND Crutchie played a much larger role in the leadership of the strike here!! Just through little interactions and stuff but it was coooollll and he even seemed to form a friendship with both Kath and Davey

Even the kid playing Les was brilliant and I usually don't like Les all that much - but the kid I saw was brilliant

KATHERINE WORE A CROWN MADE OF SPOONS IN KONY

The Newsies would swing out on lamps and ropes over the audience and oh my godddddddd

THE BROOKLYN NEWSIES WERE GIRLS (and it added balance since earlier they'd been the bowery beauties so it changed them up and showed the power of women plus finally included girls in the strike, sometbing 1992 and bway missed) AND THEY WERE SO GOOD

Jack and Katherine had Beatrice and Benedick vibes from Much Ado - that's the only comparable thing, they were so brilliant and the chemistry was so goooodddd

Ngl it probably didn't have enough Javid content for you addicts.

Butttt there was a hug when Jack tells Davey they won the strike that is so good. Davey can't retain himself, he jumps and hugs Jack and then picks up and whirls around Les

'we are inevitable' was delivered PERFECTLY I can't even explain

There are so many stunts and jumps and tricks and we all knew the dancing was gonna be perfect but dear god it still got me

And finally, my favourite thing, THE SET

I was sitting stage right in Woodside (I think) and if u can get tickets like that it is so worth it. The actors are running up behjind and beside you

There's even a little slide for the escape from snyder

And they utilise the scaffding part of the set super well

There are lamps that lifted up for ariel tricks

And so much more

Even a fuckin zip line!!!!!!!

The Pulitzer's set was built in newspapers to show class and how the Newsies have built their entire empire etc

And all the set was moved on and off by the Newsies, too, again to show class and how the Newsies (and working kids) run the world, really

I just think Jack and performing is so special.

He’s so charismatic. It’s how he’s learned to survive. He puts on a show and holds his head up high til there’s no one around. He’d die before he let his mask slip. He performs to sell papers, performs to keep the newsies together, performs to protect the newsies after Pulitzer’s threats. Tbh much as I love Javid, the fact that the first person that mask ever slips with is Katherine is so special to me. Katherine is the first one to hear those insecurities, those feelings of insignificance, and she accepts him with open arms. They are just,, they are so special,,,, they are my favorite I love them,,,

What do you think about Rayman DLC coming in sparks of hope?

Mixed feelings.

Part of me is like " Oh my god. Is...Is this real life ??". The other is like " yeah it's...A DLC...." I want this to be clear : The devs deserve a kiss on the cheek for putting the effort and try to get us that DLC. And I hope the effort will payoff down the line. But being fan of the bean taught me to be cautious. I can't count it as a come back yet, not until Ubisoft moves it's ass and makes a 3D game. Also, the part I am miffed at is this : This is a game that stars Mario and the Rabbids. All seems to indicate that in this DLC, Rayman and Mario won't meet. Maybe I am wrong and we'll get a short meeting of the two. I hope so. But if they really don't....That's absolutely DUMB. This would have been the meeting of the century. Mario is the king of platform games and Rayman 2 is still quoted today by many as one of the best platform game of all time. It makes too much sense. I refuse to believe nobody ever thought of proposing this to begin with. See how the first Mario+Rabbids game came to life. Ubisoft proposed the concept themselves to Nintendo. You are not making me believe that Rayman meeting Mario hasn't been discussed at least once. But someone has to have said no, and I can only see Nintendo doing that. So yeah, I am miffed about that and hope the future will prove my grumpy butt wrong on that one.

Random housing info for my Plumber Brat shit

The Armstrongs live in a 4-story building, with their butchershop and apartment making up the first and second floors respectively. Both are about 3000 sqft (~280 sqm) with the retail space of the business taking up about the front third of the floor space. The apartment is 3 bedroom 1 bath and only really accessible via a staircase on the first floor. In all honesty it's a little small for their needs with Manny and his mom both living in it, Tetramand take up a lot of space and any Manny's smaller size cuts from requirements is more than surpassed by his mom's needs.

The third story takes up about 2400 sqft (~223 sqm) and consists of three apartments and a public toilet, while the fourth story is taken up by a take-away restaurant and an Erinaen 'hawker center' taking up about 1800 sqft (~167 sqm) together.

The Wheelses, meanwhile, live on the third floor of a 3-story building, the third story of which takes up about 2000 sqft (185 sqm) with three apartments. Theirs specifically is about 800 sqft (~74 sqm) with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Actually a decent size for a human, an Erinaen, and a hybrid, but once you throw a Kineceleran into the mix... Those fuckers also need space, though thankfully less than Tetramand do.

The first floor of their building is about 2500 sqft (~232 sqm) and consists of an convenience store, a public bath, and a public bathroom. The second floor is the same size square footage and split between 2 apartments, and there's also 2 other apartments on the third floor, one larger than their own and one smaller that's owned by one of Kyxan's siblings and their wife and kids.

The Albrights, meanwhile, live outside Geilla Bohln on acreage owned by Jessie's parents. Their place is a 1-story, 1300 sqft (~121 sqm) farmhouse with 3 bedrooms (one of which is part of the attic) and 1 bathroom. Not especially unique compared to all the other buildings, no, but they do have their own barn, crops, livestock. Makes up for having seven people living there, between Kay and Jessie, four kids, and Kay's mom. Also they have a nice little porch which is always fun to have.

Their nearest neighbors are Jessie's family, who own and work a good chunk of the agricultural acreage of their town, mostly working in a small variety of crops, eggs, and beef.

The Validus family moved into a 2 bedroom 1 bath home, 1-story and also about 1300 sqft (~121 sqm) after Victor got fired. Prior to that they'd had a slightly larger place, like they'd had a guestroom it was amazing, but it was also in Ben's school district and in the name of not getting into more trouble for having the audacity to let Elena be in the vicinity of Max's golden grandchild they picked up and went. The new place did have a little chicken coop in the backyard though, so they got some chickens out of the deal at least.

The Morningstars should not be legal, and that started before Mike turned to cannibalism. Between his mother remarrying and his being arrested Mike was living in the family's guesthouse, a 2-story, about 8000 sqft (~743 sqm) building with 5 bedrooms and 4 baths. It sits on a little over 2 acres of land alongside the about 16,000 sqft (~1486 sqm) main house, a 2-story with 8 bedrooms and 8 baths. Again, illegal. Where he was staying when not imprisoned post this period is, wibbly.

The Levins, here consisting of Kevin and technically Argit, are divided among multiple properties. Argit it's near impossible to keep track of, he spends more time off-world and other such, but they share a 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment in Geilla Bohln. It's about 800 sqft (~74 sqm) in a 4-story building.

The first 3 floors of the building are all housing, with 1 home on the first floor, 2 on the second including Kevin and Argit's, and 2 on the third. The fourth is only about 1000 sqft (~93 sqm) and is entirely taken up by a little craft supplies shop.

Kevin specifically also has a secondary apartment in Bellwood on the sixth floor of a 7-story building. 1 bedroom, 1 bath, this time only 600 sqft or so (~56 sqm) but this one has a balcony, parking included, and came furnished. Not well furnished, but he's not exactly picky. There's 5 other apartments on that floor, another 1 bedroom and a handful of 2 bedrooms.

He specifically is also the one with the most Complicated relationships with his neighbors, no matter which town he's in.

I've got myself into a potentially awkward situation because someone is supposed to come into my flat sometime this afternoon to look at the plumbing, and I said they didn't need to ask my landlord for the key because I'd be in. but also I have an online training session for my new job from 1-3, so if the person shows up before that's over then I don't know how I'm going to let the plumbing person in at the same time!
