Timetravel Fun
Okay, so ever since I realized Kakashi is the only one of his original team that didn't end up becoming a Jinchuuriki at some point, I've been SO TEMPTED to write a Timetravel Fic where Kakashi takes the half of Kuruma that Minato originally sealed within himself.
Seriously, imagine it.
Another connection to/with Naruto.
Solves Kakashi's chakra problem (if Obito still gets "crushed" & gives Kakashi his sharingan), or an extra power-up if Obito doesn't have to.
Another connection to Rin, if she still gets kidnapped and is forced to become a Jinchuuriki.
Kakashi would now also either have to hide the fact he's a Jinchuuriki from the rest of the village (somehow), or he'll likely face similar treatment to the one Naruto got.
OR, maybe Kakashi goes on a training journey with Jiraiya for +2 years? Jiraiya is/was the current sealing/fuuinjutsu master of Konoha at the time too, after all. In a time-travel situation Kakashi wouldn't feel the need to continue with Anbu, and it'd get him away from Danzo as well. It's a win-win, as long as Kakashi gets back in time to save Itachi from Danzo's (& Tobi's) manipulation.
- (Seriously though, imagine how strong Kakashi could have gotten (quicker) if he got trained by a Sannin - just like Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura got training. Kakashi is SELF-TAUGHT since he was 14y old, after Minato's death if not earlier. Something I think a lot of people forget.)
On the bright side, Kakashi would have Naruto either way. Especially since it'd be a time-travel and Kakashi would have the (better) mental stability to at least hang out with Naruto even if Minato & Kushina die (again).
(Kakashi would likely still look 14y old at Naruto's birth though, so... Probably no adoption? Unless he can sneak off Naruto to Tsunade, who is technically Naruto's last known living relative at the time who would semi-available option to adopt Naruto. If Kakashi can find her).
Also, Kakashi befriending Kuruma early(-ier) would be kind of sweet tbh.

I got a couple of questions for the reborn AU
1.  Are they Team 4 because it's the other unlucky number?
2. Are that generations team 7 more lucky than team 4? If yes, by how much?
3. If team 4 is made up of the worst team-up, how are others viewing them? I mean especially Tori, cause in comparison to the Jinchuriki Sensei and 2 prodigy teammates (one being able to essentialy causing mass hallucinations and the other causing mass destruction via bomb). Like do others look at that team and think "poor girl. The only normal one" just to get hit with the fact that Tori can be even worse? Would Tori become the weird cryptic?
4. How would Itachis parents react to his teammates? Like, Mikoto must be over the moon that her best friend teaches her son. And we kinda know how she likes Deidara thanks to homemade dynamite, but it's DIFFERENT.
I love Minatos growing horror of Tori
They're Team 4 because I picked a random number and then went ".....oh yeah! the death number!" and realized I couldn't change it now. So Minato did approximately the same thing.
Minato: Oh, there's no active Team 4. I'll just assign that number.
Minato: Oh, there hasn't been a Team 4 since before the war. I wonder why?
Minato, after the ink is dry: oh right
Since it's an unlucky number, it just doesn't get assigned unless there's somehow too many teams to NOT assign it. Or if your Hokage was woken up at 4 AM by his eight year old giggling too loudly because he drew on the walls and assigned you a team number before he'd had his coffee.
Part of Tori's charm is that she just... comes off as very underwhelming? Like, she doesn't have strong main character vibes. She looks like she's someone's babysitter. One thing I wanted to play with in the snippet I posted is that even though Minato knows she worked for Orochimaru, he's still like: okay but she's a generic twelve year old girl. She must be the normal one. Sort of like a parallel take on how I write Minato, who looks like he'd cry if you were mean to him, but is secretly one of the deadliest ninja of all time.
Giving off background character vibes is great for being sneaky or forcing enemies to underestimate you! But yes it does mean your reputation in-village is "poor girl :(" or perhaps even a few "lucked out & doesn't deserve to be on that team."
I actually haven't thought super hard about what's up with Itachi's family. I kind of imagine there's a Naruto-Sasuke friendship, but it's the kind where your parents insist you're friends because they want to hang out with each other. So Sasuke probably meets Team 4 pretty early on, and Tori is the type of person who'd think it's really funny to intentionally and "harmlessly" troll an eight year old. As for Mikoto and Fugaku... this Itachi went into ANBU even YOUNGER and his only friend is Shisui, and also he's like 10x more terrifying because his life philosophy is still recovering from being a missing-nin. So I think they've semi-recently had the revelation that even if their son is a celebrated prodigy, they have uuuuuuuh fucked him up. Like a lot. So Itachi willingly hanging out with people his own age seems like a positive, and they're just going to blithely ignore Deidara complaining he found human teeth in his hair after that last mission, or Tori asking if he kept them.

I am rereading UDB + NoT, and I am back to going crazy over it, I literally think about it daily😅 I love your writing so much💜
I hope you don't mind but I wanted to ask how/where the chunin exams are held at this point in time (like is it comparable to canon? are the villages hosting them in rotation? are they sending teams to other villages for them?).
We got a feel on how tense things are right now between the villages with Shisui's "trip" around lightning country (+ with Kumo's attempt at getting the byakugan being only 4 or 5 years in the past) and Kiri (+ Kiri going through it right now with the bloodline purges). I just can’t imagine them having games like in canon and set themselves up to that security nightmare....
Also completely unrelated thought -> in one of you posts you said that Shisui had a big growth spurt in anbu and it's just really funny to me that he might have been around Genma’s and Raidou's height when they first became a team and like three missions later he was a head taller than them😭
Tumblr media
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely, I love answering asks especially about my fics✨ The exams are definitely on a smaller scale, I imagine that with Kiri hemorrhaging Shinobi, Ame just about getting their feet under them, and the upheaval in Konoha, most villages are running exams only in coalition with their strongest allies. So, for example, I mentioned before that Konoha has 'vassal' villages, like Yumegakure, that is politically sheltered by them? They always participate in exams together.
Sometimes, even when politics is especially spicy, the villages do organize to host larger exams, as a show of strength/confidence as much as to scout out the other's ranks. But that probably only happens after a certain amount of peacetime because otherwise who would risk letting in all their rivals, right into their base of operations and soft underbelly, and NOT expect to be massacred...????
Shisui's own Chuunin Exam was hosted in Konoha's Forest of Death (nods head to the snap shots of Ibiki's exam, since I shoehorned Shisui in there) and Suna were in attendance, possibly the only true "foreign power" there (I haven't decided)... it was quite the moment when lil baby Shisui killed both of his Suna opponents in the final rounds. Since this was only shortly after Konoha and Suna had reached a peace agreement, and it's known that Shisui's parents were killed by Suna nin during the war, the whole thing was pretty... memorable. As for how the Chuunin exams will play out in "current events" of the series? I have to ask if you somehow hacked my doc plans for spoilers 😂
Lmaooooooooo Genma being like "omg look at this brat, this kid, lil shrimp" and then shisui shoots up and Raidou is like "YOU JUST HAD TO CHALLENGE HIM DIDNT YOU 🤡" 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Sorry! I just got excited!! Why are you so cold or maybe we’ll be trapped for a while agsgdvshd. Honestly whatever is easiest for you
Hello nonnie, I took about 500 years (the last two weeks) to finish this and it got much longer than my 2k word limit, but here you go!
Hatake Kakashi x fem!Reader
5579 words.
Rated E. 18+. mdni
contains mutual masturbation and vaginal sex.
Ao3 Link [x]
You are sent on mission with Hatake Kakashi to infiltrate a hotel aimed at couples. You are especially excited about that, because you've long had a crush on Kakashi.
“Hound and Magpie, You will both be dispatched to the land of Steam,” Lord Third said, walking up and down in his office. “There is a sort of hotel there, an inn which is very popular with couples. We suspect that there are some illegal trades going on or that spies meet to exchange information. I want you to go there, infiltrate and then give us feedback.”
Kakashi and you nodded: “Yes sir.” Infiltration missions to gather information meant you had to blend in with the environment, which meant, as you realised right away, that the two of you would need to pretend to be a couple. You felt your heart beat raise at that fact alone.
“Remember, you are not to capture anyone until we know there is some shady business going on for sure. I don’t want to risk any animosity with the Land of Steam.” The Hokage sat down behind his desk.
“Yes, sir,” you both said again in unison.
“Pack your things and leave right away. A room in the hotel has been reserved for you. You find your cover stories in the scroll provided to you. Dismissed.” You picked your scroll up, bowed and left the room.
-
Kakashi and you met again an hour later at the gates of the village, still in your ANBU gear. You were going to get changed closer to the target location in case you would be running into some troubles, at least that had been how the plan had been laid out to you.
He checked you for a moment and then said: “Ready to go?” and before you were even finished nodding he had already turned around and started running down the dirt path leading out of Konoha. You followed closely behind him.
Kakashi was the most notorious member of the current Hokage’s personal ANBU squad, someone the other squad members looked up to as an idol or a hero to strive after. You too admired his skill and leadership, but you secretly harboured even stronger feelings for him.
To you, Kakashi was the most beautiful man you had ever seen. Even with his face covered by a wooden mask, even with his mouth covered by a fabric when he wasn’t the Hound.  You just knew that beneath all the protection he was unbelievably handsome. ANBU squad members used the same locker room after missions and as far as you could hear from your male colleagues your suspicion about his looks were correct.
Still, many female members of the squad also had seen his bare face which was because Kakashi, while remaining overall distant and colder to people who admired and idolised him, actually liked casual sex, at least when he was in a certain mood and many squad members, male and female, had been on the receiving end of those moods.
Almost everyone.
Except for you.
You had wondered and waited and tried to not take it personally that you weren’t chosen. After all, you and Kakashi worked so close together all the time so surely he must have noticed you. Sometimes your insecurities would get the best of you, force you to stand in front of full length mirrors and check your own figure. Maybe you were somehow not pretty enough for him or not skilled enough or he simply saw you as inadequate. Neither option in your mind seemed especially enticing.
Meanwhile, your crush on him just grew with each mission you two ran together, but you knew asking him out for dates or such would be useless, because he clearly wasn’t up for such things. Every time you had seen other shinobi ask him for dinner he had only replied with a wave of his hand before politely declining. He wasn’t out to date and that was that.
So being awarded a duo mission like this with him alone by your side, especially when the task meant to pretend to be a couple, almost seemed like too good to be true. Your nerves were fluttering so hard the entire way to the hotel that you buried your nails into the palm of your hand to calm yourself down.
In ANBU infiltration missions were called “fetch missions” in a deliberate way to equate them to the easy first missions one would do on their genin team. Fetch missions were often easy to do, no harm would be done to shinobi and no fighting was necessary. Infiltration missions that were used to gain information, but not to take out a target or other, were therefore seen as relatively easy to complete. Hence why they were mocked as nothing but fetch missions.
Normally such a mission wouldn’t have made you nervous the slightest. With your skills in genjutsu you had always been very good at them. This was probably the reason you’d been assigned this mission in the first place. If it weren’t with Kakashi you would most likely not take this mission too seriously until you really go to the target location.
Kakashi however was taking the mission premise very seriously and stopped you just about a mile away from the hotel. “I think we should go over some ground rules when it comes to pretending we are a couple,” he said and crossed his arms in front of his chest.
“Yes, sir,” you replied, your heart beating against your chest like it did everytime when he was talking directly to you.
His eyes focused on you for a moment. “We will go hand in hand if we can and if it is alright with you I might put your arms around your hips and shoulders on occasion.”
Despite the clinical way he was discussing this, your cheeks blushed. You were flattered that he asked for permission to do something so innocent. “It is alright.”
“As Lord Third has said we will have to share a room, but if you want me too I can sleep on the floor so there is no disturbance.” He turned his mask in his hand.
“That’s not necessary.” How could he be so incredibly forthcoming and considerate? If he kept being this way you would never be able to get over your crush for him. “I don’t mind a little body contact.”
Admittedly, you were a little flirtatious with that last line and Kakashi surely noticed because when you looked up he had one eyebrow raised in surprise. You averted your eyes to hide the red on your face. “Shouldn’t we change clothes?” you asked, gesturing at your ANBU uniform.
“Right, yes.”
Kakashi took the clothing scroll out of his pocket and unsealed it. Both of you stared at the option of clothes ANBU had provided for you for this specific mission. Not only were they mostly pink and matching, they also looked like something that your grandmother would have worn. “Horrible,” you murmured, picking up your skirt that looked like it came with an underskirt petticoat.
“It will do;” Kakashi said clearly trying to sound unbothered when in reality his teeth were clenched together.
You laughed when you first laid your eyes on his now very pink new outfit. It was a little too small for him, hanging right over his biceps since he couldn’t push it down over his arms. HIs sharingan was covered by a pink cloth that matched the one hanging in front of his mouth. After a while of laughing your sides hurt so much that you had to gasp for air.
“You don’t look great either, just saying,” Kakashi said and if you didn’t know him better it almost sounded like he was sulky.
The pink skirt you were wearing to match his shirt hung just above your ankles, a little too long to make it look good in your opinion. “I don’t doubt that,” you said, but then grinned again as your eyes fell over his too tight vest over his chest. “But it is something special to see you like that, Hound.”
Kakashi ran his fingers through his hair. “You should not call me Hound from now on. Call me.. dear..”
The nickname caught you off guard and you could feel your heart flutter again. “Noted. You may call me honey.”
Kakashi nodded: “Alright, Magpie, shall we?” He offered you his arm.
You felt like your fingers were burning when you took it.
The hotel was old and stood high with at least ten floors, which was different from the usual ryokans that one could find in Steam country. It almost looked like an old abandoned temple for a long forgotten religion, with black wooden piles holding up the tile roof. There was a big sign out front and in a pink heart the name was written in silver glittery letters. “The Lovers Hideaway”. You bit your inner lip to stop yourself from cringing.
“That there is a spy exchange in a place like this..,” Kakashi mumbled under his breath, quiet enough for just you to hear. “Doesn’t really seem like…”
But both of you knew that exactly that was why it was an excellent place to exchange information. A place people only stayed a short amount of time without raising suspicion, especially among the undoubtedly many real couples staying there too, plus the harmless image let it operate in plain sight without anyone noticing.
Kakashi pulled at your arm and you walked into the lobby behind him, your hand still holding on to his elbow. The interior looked exactly as old as the exterior had, though with some modernised touches. You watched people, usually in couples, walk by in chatter, often hand in hand or arm in arm like you and Kakashi were. With how relaxed the atmosphere was, you now started to wonder if your intel about the place had been correct.
“I will get us our room key, honey” Kakashi said with a fake smile on his eyes, “You can look around if you feel like it.”
Message received. You let go of him, trying not to be too excited about the nickname he had just called you. He was just being friendly with you for the mission, nothing else to it. You turned and left the lobby into the adjacent room which was a little hallway leading into the main dining room. Four people were inside there.
There were two men all closed up and cuddled in a corner whispering to each other and then two women sat to your right and had a quiet conversation. There was an envelope on the table in front of them. You pretended to be interested in the books on the shelf behind them and while walking past threw a look at the envelope on the table. It had no writing on it, just a hasted scribble of the symbol of the village Hidden in Clouds. Both noticed your presence and instantly started pretending to be a couple. You gave them a friendly fake smile and returned back to the lobby.
“I was just about to call for you,” Kakashi said and reached his hand out to you. “Our room is ready. Did you see something interesting?”
You took his hand, careful not to let your fingers get too sweaty from nerves: “Just a couple of lovers by the bookshelves, dear.” His eye narrowed.
“Well, if you need anything you can always call us and oh- the speciality of our hotel is obviously that the onsen is a one-for-all deal! We don’t part by genders. We hope you will enjoy your stay.” You nodded at the lady behind the reception and realised you had seen her on the papers that ANBU provided for you.
The hotel room was on the first floor, the cheapest option in this no doubt very pricey establishment. ANBU wasn’t gonna waste money on a free vacation for Hound and Magpie, especially not with the ever decreasing budget that their commanders always sighed about.
“You saw lovers by the bookshelves?” Kakashi asked, teeth gritted in this smile still. You could basically see his sharingan eye working beneath its covering, looking and analysing their surroundings.
“Yeah, they were so cute. I think they were writing a letter to the Land of Clouds.” You waved your hand around and sang a little in your reply. Kakashi pressed your hand in understanding, but it only made you realise that he was still holding it. You felt dizzy.
The room key was old and a little rusty, but looked delicately made, which only supported you in your idea that this hotel was an old temple. Kakashi opened the door and with a “After you”, offered you to walk in first.
You had known ANBU wouldn’t spend big bucks on a fetch mission, but this room? It was almost insultingly tiny. The bed was in the centre and just about passable as a double bed, from there you had to press yourself against the closet to make it into the bathroom which was nothing but a tiny shower head, a toilet and a sink. This was worse than living in ANBU barracks. You frowned.
“Intimate,” Kakashi noted as he stepped in behind you, which almost pushed you on the bed already.
You couldn’t help but laugh at the assessment. “I wouldn’t have wanted it any way else”, you winked at him.
And miraculously, Kakashi laughed too.
It was rare to hear him laugh. The sound echoed in your ears even minutes after.
“How do you feel about going downstairs into the dining hall to have some dinner for our first day?” Kakashi suggested, pressing his body past the bed so he could put his bag down. “We could meet other couples.”
You nodded mechanically, your eyes still resting on Kakashi’s muscles moving as he made his way back to the entrance to the room where you were standing. In your head a wild scene started playing, both of you together cuddled up at night, limbs entangled into each other, naked.. You nodded your head harder to bring yourself back to reality.
The dining room was buzzing with chatter as you both arrived. Kakashi took your hand again as you were going down the stairs and held it clasped with his own. With every fibre of your being you pulled yourself away from the soft way his fingers felt around yours to scan the room. After all, what had brought you here in the first place was your mission.
While there were many couples just eating dinner, discussing this or that or making out in broad public, you once again noticed several odd things. In the right back corner a couple of women were clearly whispering to each other, the hoods of their cloaks pulled far into their eyes to avoid showing off their faces. Their hands might have been sitting on each other’s knees but the body language told you that there was something else but flirting going on.
Several envelopes and scrolls were visible under tables, some changing hands, some just being hastily scribbled in. You sat down at a window seat and kept your eyes wandering, mouth wide open as if you were taking in the beautiful decor of the room. Kakashi was surprisingly good at making pleasant conversation, pointing with his finger to this place or that to pull your attention to things he had spotted.
“The staff is so attentive,” he said at some point, his head nodding to a waitress that was exchanging a sake bottle on a neighbouring table. Under the table you could clearly see a scroll being handed over and the waitress must have seen it too.
You nodded in understanding. “Super attentive.”
At that moment the waitress looked up and her eyes found yours. You tried to play it off as you were just watching curiously as the sake was exchanged, but the waitress was already frowning at you. Being found out here would be very bad. You turned your head and said in the sweetest voice you could muster: “Dear, can you…”
“Feed you?” Kakashi said, a candy sweet smile on his face. “Of course I would. I know you like it very much.”
He cut off a piece of the meat in front of him and offered it to you on his chopsticks. Normally sharing food meant putting it on the other’s plate, because the act of feeding seemed incredibly intimate. You could feel the blush on your cheeks as you opened your mouth wide with an “AH” and at the piece. It was really good, but you felt like chewing was almost impossible with how electric your body felt.
“Oh my,“ you said finally, waving with your hand to your face as if the food had been really hot, when in reality it was just your face that felt warm. “That is a very obscene thing to do in public, dear.” Under your breath you mumbled. “How did you come up with that?”
Kakashi leaned back in his chair, hands behind his wild silver hair. You could see his eyes smiling mischievously.  “Have you forgotten, honey, that it is from our favourite scene in Icha Icha Tactics in which Sara eats sushi off Kenta’s chest?”
Your mouth fell open but the words were stuck in your throat. So Captain Kakashi could joke after all. And what a dry joke it had been. “Yes,” you said, smirking right back at him, “Now I remember.”
Both of you just sat there and stared at each other and for a moment it felt like the world around you disappeared. Then he shook his head and said: “Time for the bath, don’t you think?”
“Yes, of course.” You kept your voice calm, but on the inside your emotions were in a total chaos.
Steam country was famous on the entire continent for its hot springs and this inn was no different. The biggest novelty here for this particular one was that genders weren’t separated, which was an absolutely one in a million opportunity for couples. This rule alone was the reason this remote place was so popular, especially for newlyweds. You didn’t want to imagine what great things you could do with Kakashi if he was willing to let you steal him away to a corner…
First however, you both needed to disrobe, which was done in a tiny changing room that both of you had to enter together. Undressing in front of fellow ANBU members wasn’t that new, but usually it wasn't to full nudity.
“I won’t look,” Kakashi said, closing his eyes and stepping to the corner a bit away from you. Quickly you undressed and wrapped a towel around your body to cover yourself up just a little at least.
You stepped another half step away from him. “You can look now.” As he opened his eyes you were convinced to spot a light flashing in them for a moment, then you closed your own set of eyes to give him the same privacy while undressing.
That was the first time you ever really saw his face. Your breath stopped for a second. He was exactly as handsome as you thought he would be. “We need a henge for my sharingan eye,” he said and you shook yourself to pull away from the magnetism that was his bone structure and lips.
“I’m good with genjutsu”, you said mechanically and then lifted your hand to cast one that would secure both of you. From now on you both had different faces and hair, at least to everyone that would look at you too close.
The hot spring felt amazing around your tired muscles from a day of running and travelling, but you knew you weren’t here to relax. Kakashi once again had his arms all around you, his naked body now pressing against yours, which you tried very much to ignore. He was just playing a part, you told yourself.
“So many people here,” he murmured, his fake eyes looking around. “It’s hard to find a good spot.” With spot he probably meant a place to listen to as many people as possible.
Finally he pointed at something: “There!” He led you to a little bench in the water and sat down pressed between two other couples that were mumbling in a low voice. You gasped a little as he pulled you onto his lap to wrap his arms all around you. You reminded yourself again that he was just doing this for the mission and nothing more.
As soon as your heartbeat had slowed enough for you to concentrate on what you'd come here for you picked up a conversation between two men not far away from you. It seemed like they were half making out and half whispering about an important “exchange” that was going to take place the next day on the highest floor of the hotel.
Fetch missions usually didn’t entail capture of people, it was mainly just to obtain intel so that a real capture mission could be dispatched, so you knew this fact alone would probably already warrant a run back to Konoha. But you felt like there was more to gain here if you’d stick around and watch whatever was passed on. Maybe steal it even.
“I think it would be so romantic to be able to see the morning sun rise from the highest floor in the hotel, don’t you think?” You snuggled your head into Kakashi’s neck. “Like in Icha Icha Paradise when the couple see’s the sun rise the first time after they kiss. You had never read the books, but felt like committing to the bit anyway.
Kakashi, half amused by your bad knowledge of Icha Icha and half interested in the obvious intel you tried to pass on, pressed a light kiss to your forehead: “Right, let's do that tomorrow.”
The place where he kissed you still burned like a mark when you were already back in your room dressed and ready for bed.
There was nothing else for you to do back in your room, since it was way too small to avoid each other or work on separate things, so you both decided to just head to bed. Kakashi filled a scroll out quickly and sealed it with a quick hand sign so it could not be detected. You were not sure how many eyes the walls had, so you continued talking only superficial things or exchanged coded words.
You ripped the cover off the bed and stared at what was underneath it. Not only was the sheet in a bright yellow colour, which was much too bright for your eyes, but there was only one blanket. “Uh-” you said, thinking how sharing one blanket probably was no issue for couples, but Kakashi and you weren’t really one.
“What?” he asked from the desk in the corner.
“There is only one blanket for both of us.” You pointed at the bed in front of you. “We will have to share.”
Kakashi got up and stretched himself. He was wearing only a large black shirt and boxers, a standard outfit for ANBU that you had seen on so many of your colleagues. No one had ever looked as hot in them as Kakashi though. At least to you.
He walked over and helped you pull the blanket down. “I don’t need one”, he said and smiled at you. “I have survived in colder conditions without one.”
You protested of course and once his insistence became stronger tried to urge him to put at least a pair of sweatpants from his ANBU outfit back on. Kakashi however was steadfast in saying that he was fine this way. So you climbed under the blanket, said goodnight to him and turned the light off.
It just seemed so silly to you, that he, Hatake Kakashi, who had so many casual relationships that you could barely say the number, just wouldn’t ever give you a chance, hell, he wouldn’t even need to sleep with you here, it was just about sharing some body warmth. You wouldn’t mind a little body contact if it meant he wasn’t freezing.
You moved your foot around a little and accidentally touched Kakashi’s leg lying next to you. He was ice cold.
“If you can take a night without covers easily,” you said with a smirk, “why are you so cold then?”
Kakashi didn’t say anything.
Why was he so unwilling to just get close to you? Now you felt irritated. “As far as I have heard from other squad members you aren’t usually so against touching others.” It was an attack, but you tried to soften it by ending the sentence with a laugh.
Another moment passed in which Kakashi said nothing, then: “Normally yes, but you are different.”
What the hell did he mean with that? Confused, you fully turned your body and found that he was already looking at you, his red sharingan eye open and staring at you in the darkness.
Now that the topic had been opened the words that had long been on your mind basically fell out of you. “What is it about me that you don’t like? Am I not attractive to you? Did I do anything that turned you off? I wonder because as an outsider it seems like you have no preference, but then I wonder what’s so different about me…”
“I just -” Kakashi cut your rambling off and then choked on his own starting sentence. He buried his head in his pillow. “I just didn't want it to be like this.”
You prop your head on your flat hand. “Well, how then?”
His voice was muffled from the pillow that he was still pressing against his face. “I always thought if we would do something like that it would be - err- the real thing. Not just casual, you know…” He coughed and then pulled the pillow even closer.
“Wait, do you mean you like me?” You felt ridiculous even saying that sentence out loud.
Finally he let the pillow fall down and you could see his eyes shining in the dark again. “I do like you.” He said it without leaving room for interpretation.
“No!” you said and could see his frown, so you added, “I- I mean, no, that can’t be, because I like you. For a long time, actually.”
His eyes went wide and before you could think of if it was appropriate or not you found yourself leaning forward close to his face and kissing him, this time on the lips. For a second Kakashi seemed surprised, maybe even confused, but then he kissed you back. You could feel the softness of his lips as they caressed yours, his tongue tasting yours carefully, as if he was trying to breathe in every part of you.
You breathed out hard as his hands flew to your face. They were ice cold. “Is everything alright?” he asked as you drew back.
“You are so cold,” you said with a small laugh. “Why don’t you come under the blanket so I can warm you up.” You winked and pulled the blanket up for him to climb under.
Kakashi didn’t make you ask twice. He robbed forward until he was laying flush against you, body against body. You wrapped your legs around his waist to warm his and kissed him deeply again while burning your hands in his hair.
“Don’t worry, I know some things that I could do to warm myself up,” he whispered against your lips. “Things that I’ve thought of doing with you for a long time already.” You felt goosebumps in your neck in anticipation.
His hand wandered under the shirt you were wearing, tracing your muscles beneath it carefully. You copied him exactly, following his hand like a mirror with your own. When he started pinching your nipples you did exactly the same thing to him. When you moaned for the first time he followed shortly after.
You could see him grin as he was taking breath, recognising that you were going to follow what he was going to do. So he let your breasts go, tracing his way down to the seams of your pants and then laying his hand flat against your still clothed cunt. You followed suit as you did before. He groaned as you pressed your flat hand against his hard cock.
Kakashi pulled your pants down, which took a little longer as he was only using one hand and you did the same to him. It took a little while to wiggle yourself out of your underwear, but then you could feel his still a little cold finger on your wet clit, while your hand was wrapped around his shaft.
For a moment his hand was still and he focused on kissing you hot and greedily. You weren’t backing down either, eager to show him that you wanted this just as much as he did. That you had fantasised about it maybe more than him. Then his finger started moving which momentarily made you lose your breath.
Granted, you could no longer exactly copy his movements now, but you know what he meant for you to do now that he had your hand where he wanted it to. So while Kakashi used his fingers to curl in and out of you, his thumb on your clit, you stroked is cock up and down forcefully enough to have him shake. Everytime increasing the pace when he was increasing his.
It was exhilarating, masturbating each other off like this. Soon your free hand ripped at his hair and his teeth bit your skin chasing the ultimate high.
“S-Stop,” he suddenly said, his voice stuttering.
You stopped immediately, even when his fingers kept on moving inside of you. “Do I hurt you?” you whispered.
“N-No, I just - I want to - feel you, can I?” His fingers finally let up, giving you room to breathe.
“Yes,” you breathed back. And then: “Please.”
Kakashi left the warmth of your blanket together, quick feet tapping over the floor to his clothes and back. It didn’t surprise you that he had a condom with him and that he was fast at pulling it over himself.
He was back next to you in a flash, pressing his hands on your hips to turn you on your stomach. You left him with the lead and arched your back to give him easier access. His arms rested to the right and the left of your head as he pushed forward inside of you, slowly, inch by inch, as if he wanted to make sure not to miss anything. It reminded you of the way he had first kissed you.
You let out a sharp breath as he started thrusting forward into you, his head bent over so that you could feel his hot breath at your ear. He was growling a little, clearly fighting the urge to hard fuck himself to his end. The foreplay had been pretty extensive after all.
“It’s okay,” you said softly, pressing a kiss to his wrist next to you. “You can go harder.”
Kakashi let out a huff, but you didn’t need to ask twice. With sudden fury he increased his pace, leaving you to bite into the pillow below you not to scream. His whole body was shaking as he came, his mouth right by your ear repeating your name over and over again.
After he had pulled out you tried to roll yourself over on your back again, but Kakashi kept holding you down with a strong hand. “Not done yet,” he said. “You aren’t completely warm yet.” You laughed at his words.
His fingers were between your legs again, curling inside you once again. This time his kisses were on your back, tracing the line between your shoulders up your neck and to your ears and cheeks. You whined his name as he added a third finger, his thumb circling your clit again. Then you came too, your body aching off the sheets into him while he whispered praises in your ear.
-
It was not surprisingly easy to mime a couple as you got up the next morning and hand in hand wandered to the highest floor in the hotel. Neither of you had gotten much sleep as you had tried to get to know each other piece by piece, but neither of you felt particularly tired now either. You wound up in a chair, you sitting on Kakashi’s lap as you kissed one another, enjoying the public display of affection while also doing your job.
It took a while until a guy showed up, looked over to you in the corner for a second, decided you were non threatening and then left an envelope on the window sill. You turned your head and recognised the cloud symbol from yesterday.
You forced yourself to separate from Kakashi’s sweet mouth and quickly jumped over to get the envelope before the real recipient showed up. He kissed you as a reward again, his fingers bruising over your cheekbones.
Kakashi sealed the envelope away. “You know,” he said with a grin, “we theoretically don’t have to check out until the afternoon.”
“Oh, I see, well, I mean, Konoha has paid for this hotel so it would be a shame if we didn’t use the amenities fully.” You smiled at him.
He wrapped an arm around your hip: “That’s exactly what I’m thinking.”

She will somehow give up deciding to take part of Anbu Team to improve and to get stronger. Struggling. This decision will cause also a reaction from the person she fell in love with: Shinachiku. Background
Raised by both parents, Karin and Sasuke. Training and discipline from them, made her diligent. By herself, by training and reading books about ninja clans and ninja history, she has started to care more and more about social status too. Making her quite strict. Sasuke somehow finds Sugietsu after a battle, badly injured. "Sugietsu," he says quietly, assessing the injuries from his position standing. "Who did this?" || @bladedhunter
Never, ever would Suigetsu ever want to get caught in a situation he was doomed to fail in. He was never overconfident in his abilities, not in a way that actually mattered when concerning his life, but somewhere he had so badly miscalculated the threat.
Or rather, he didn't. As he sobered from the mind-numbing pain, he wised up to the situation and realized he got sold out.
If he wasn't teetering on a lifeline, he'd be pissed.
"...Sasuke?" he called out to whatever ( whoever ) was speaking to him," I'm dying and you're the apparition to come to me. That's pretty fucked up.... I want a refund."
He laughed, sputtered with a nasty cough of the fluid mucking up his throat with congealed blood from his body forcing an auto-heal on itself. Whatever fluids it could stick together over the wounds, it was taking, even the mucus in his gathering in his trachea; effectively locking most of the air struggling to breathe down to his lungs.
Damn though- really, the Uchiha? Not even his own brother? What a sham.
"Some shmucks who sold me out to your-" he hacked again," -wonderful ANBU team- I thought the world was at peace... or whatever."
Suigetsu was not a person, not legally, he was literally a body of water, but guess someone got the drop on his weakness and managed a good, clean cut through his midsection, slicing him through the muscle. He almost swears he can see the pounding of his heart. Those fucks especially greedy with the chunks torn from his shoulder and a little off his cheek as well, exposing his teeth unfavorably to the cold.

Diabetic Itachi Headcanons
Diagnosed at 10 shortly after his chunin exams
Shisui was the first to notice something was wrong since Itachi normally never called for breaks during their sparring sessions. (Shisui usually had to force him to take a break or pretend he was the one in need of a timeout.)
Unfortunately, Shisui was willing to trust Itachi's "I'm fine" and let it slide, though he did keep a closer eye on Itachi after that.
Mikoto was next and unlike Shisui, she wasn't willing to let it slide, especially when he started eating even less than usual (food made him feel nauseated and crampy).
Asami (my OC and the family's main healer; also Shisui's paternal aunt) was summoned to check on him after Mikoto found him throwing up one night.
Cue diagnosis via blood test. Asami wasn't overly familiar with the condition outside of medical text (the condition is fairly rare after all), but she did remember reading that fruity breath = VERY BAD.
She had to consult medical texts to figure out what to do, but she eventually got his blood sugar back in the a normal range.
Somehow baby Sasuke managed to sleep through all the commotion. Come morning, Mikoto sat him down and explained what happened.
Naturally, his first instinct was to rush to Itachi's side and check that his big brother was okay. Itachi downplayed the severity of it to avoid scaring him, unaware that their mom had already discussed the seriousness of it with him.
Shisui is also alerted when he comes to retrieve Itachi for their planned training session. Que lots of guilt and "I should've made him see Asami sooner."
Mikoto: it's not your fault. Itachi's just too stubborn. Much like his father.
Speaking of his father, Fugaku is initially more concerned whether Itachi would be able to continue being a Shinobi or not (because the clan needed him to join ANBU for The Plan to come to fruition).
Asami quickly set him straight and reinforced the fact that it's manageable (though other Shinobi might look down on him for being disabled) but still life threatening if not handled properly.
The entire family gets a lesson in caring for a diabetic while Itachi pouts insists this is very unnecessary, Asami.
Asami is not convinced.
Of course they insist on the best money can buy, so Itachi is quickly outfitted with a pump and CGM. Which he also insists is unnecessary because he can manage just fine, thank you very much
Baby, just let them take care of you
Of course, Itachi's hubris on the matter comes back to haunt him and he has a severe low one day (thankfully while at home) forcing Mikoto to inject him with glucagon.
Baby Sasuke refuses to leave Itachi's side while he recovers. He insists on being taught how to take care of Itachi (he was there for the family training, but Itachi and the adults didn't actually let him do much).
Mikoto sees the wisdom in this and finally sits Sasuke down to detail everything
(this comes in handy when Sasuke is placed with Sakura since he already knows how to handle her highs and lows, though he refuses the think/talk about why - more on this is a Sakura post though)
Sasuke insists on practicing and Itachi obliges (he even pretends Sasuke's first few attempts don't hurt like hell)

hi okay so how is this:
the first time tenzō has to drag kakashi back from a mission that has well and truly fucked them over, they had to go to that very special small section of Konoha General reserved for anbu, tiny ward, very few mednin allowed.
neither of them are doing spectacular, kakashi's absolutely chakra exhausted and while tenzō's chakra levels are Okay, he is beyond Normal exhausted, somehow both a little bit jumpy (still in mission mode) And also completely misses some of the direct questions the mednin are asking because he's just. Out of it. Needs to rest.
Also Extremely Resistant to being separated from Kakashi because for the past week or so they've been on a mission and attatched at the hip, and especially with him being Unwell, there's that added "I can't abandon him now! At his most vulnerable!" alarms pinging.
Luckily, this is not...uncommon. For shinobi. The mednin get it and they're like alright well you need to recover too so just. just sit there in that bed across the room with your Big Wide Staring Eyes. as long as you don't get in the way you can be here and we'll keep tabs on you too.
But at night, after it's gotten quiet and its only the night shift mednin around, Tenzō gets a little nervous again. He's still not completely settled and he Knows Rationally that Kakashi will be okay. but also. ack. ough. fear and anxiety!
So he crosses over and sits on the edge of the bed—as though they're not home safe, recovering, but instead taking shifts on a mission. Occasionally he touches Kakashi's hand, just to feel its warmth, to relish that. This, this relaxes him, makes him feel a little bit more normal, a little bit more like he's home Long story short, when Kakashi wakes up, he's surrounded by three very apprehensive mednin, his Kōhai somehow curled into his side on the hospital bed, sleeping peacefully, and absolutely fucking Wrapped in dozens of very small and gentle vines, like a netting. like a cover.

After literal decades of dealing with Konoha's disaster shinobi, that finance specialist probably wouldn't even know what to do with Naruto, who saves his receipts, doesn't expense everything, and brought home more resources than he used on a mission.
Finance Shinobi: *in tears and clutching a mission report*
Co-worker: *wincing* Ahh Kakashi-san again?
Finance Shinobi: *sobbing* N-Noooooo. It's Uzumaki
Co-worker: *scoffs* Ugh I can only imagine. Don't know why Hokage-sama let that one make it onto a team. Especially Team 7.
Finance Shinobi: *abruptly stone-faced* If you ever talk bad about my personal savior and future Hokage Uzumaki Naruto again I will gut you like I gutted ANBU Squad 6's budget after that fuckery with the chickens and the cabbage cart.
Co-worker: * pale-faced and sweating* w-what?
Finance Shinobi: Did I fucking stutter? That boy is going to single-handedly fix our economy. Did you know Team 7 got sent out the other day with incorrect paperwork that gave them a third of their normal Team budget? Did you? Huh? Did you know that?
Co-worker: ...n-no I did not
Finance Shinobi: Well they did! And normally that means Hatake, curses upon his name, would come back still somehow massively over budget and with bills. Uzumaki Naruto not only managed to get them back under budget but he brought in a new trade contract with a coconut merchant. I don't even know what coconuts look like but apparently, we'll be getting them at 1/4th the price for as long as Uzumaki Naruto wears a headband. The merchant wrote the contract on silk, included a marriage offer for Naruto with all of their children and then signed it in blood. If anyone ever stops that boy from handing me the most detailed and perfect financial reports I have ever seen in my life I will go rouge, murder everyone in this village and Hatake twice, and then run directly into the sea. Neither the gods nor Tsunade-sama could stop me.

Hi, first I just wanted to say I really appreciate you writing friendship/family/fluff headcanons. Most headcanons on tumblr are NSFW, which is fine, but not usually what I'm looking for. So thanks so much.
Could I request Kakashi forming a father-daughter relationship with a female OC on his team. Maybe eventually even adopting her. I love dad!Kakashi but prefer Naruto over Boruto.
Thank you for saying that. It might sound silly but I’ve always felt at a disadvantage because I didn’t write smut and stuff. The people that do are amazing for being able to, and I know I’m not as talented as them, but reading this really made me smile. 🥺💖
Anyways, I’m rambling. Here you go, lovely! I too prefer Naruto Kakashi but we have to admit that even in Boruto, he’s still fine as hell
Tumblr media
𝒦𝒶𝓀𝒶𝓈𝒽𝒾:
I honestly believe that with time, Kakashi has come to care for his students just like he would care for his children if he had any. No matter how old they get, they will always be his little genin team in his eyes.
But Kakashi would really feel for his other female student in team 7. Not that he didn’t care about Sakura (even if kishi didn’t make it look like he did :) ) but the former was alone, with no one to care for her, just like Sasuke and Naruto were.
And because of that, he will start to pay her a little more attention. He has his own, different ways to check up and look after every one of his students, sure, but with her, he kind of played favorites.
Both Naruto and Sasuke were two proud, prepubescent boys who claimed they didn’t need anyone’s help so, Kakashi wasn’t as direct or obvious when it came to caring about them.
But when it came to his other little girl from team 7, he was completely smitten. You could say he even acted out of character around her.
Sure, he isn’t the type of person who showcases his emotions like that, he’s pretty stoic so don’t expect any big act of affection from him or anything like that.
It was different from the way he usually acted but still in his own, Kakashi style different.
He will always walk her home after training was done for the day, especially if it was already dark out. He wouldn’t initiate any conversation but if she wanted to talk about something, he’d always listen.
Would randomly show up at her house to make sure she was eating and resting enough. If she wasn’t, he’d make it his mission to buy groceries and the occasional sweet snack for her.
“How can you expect to become a great ninja if you don’t eat three meals a day?” he’d say
I can totally see her doing the same thing for him as well. Ok, maybe not buying him groceries but forcing him to go out and do so. We all know Kakashi can be pretty negligent when it comes to his own health so he’d be very touched.
She’d be the one who’d occasionally wake him up in the morning and encourage him to stop being late all the time.
“Come on, sensei, what kind of example are you setting for us, huh?”
Treats her to ramen after every successful mission, to Naruto’s astonishment.
Feels the need to protect her all the time. Be it from a dangerous enemy or boys, you name it, Kakashi is somehow always there to defuse and take care of any situation.
Is harsher while training her than he is with Sasuke. It’s not because he’s playing favorites but because he wants to make sure she can protect herself and others when he would no longer be able to.
A great listener. The girl always comes to him when something bothers her for a long time. There isn’t anyone else she trusts as much as Kakashi, not even her 3 teammates.
He also gives great advice while still remaining neutral about certain topics and that’s always great.
Anyway, Shippuden is when they become like, very close.
After Sasuke and Naruto left, and Sakura started training under Tsunade, Kakashi would continue training her and making sure she became the best ninja this village has.
This is also the time when she starts calling him ‘dad’, more as a joke in the beginning but it sticks in the end lol.
“But, dad! All of my friends will be there, why can’t I go as well?!” Ehem -
Is actually very against the idea of her becoming an ANBU if an opportunity like that were to present itself. He knows first hand what kind of missions these people go on and he absolutely doesn’t want his little (maybe not so little) girl to be exposed to that.
If it’s something she really wants to do though, he’ll give in after a while, not wanting to be the reason she didn’t achieve her dreams. He’s very supportive, after all.
Pakkun and the other dogs love her!! Kakashi kind of forces her to enter in a contract with them
Kind of random but Kakashi will definitely walk her down the aisle if she wants him too, no question asked. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
Anyway, they will be the tame, not spandex wearing version of Guy and Lee lol

the other thing that i keep thinking about, especially now that i’ve been knee-deep in conversation about kakashi’s father for the last couple days, is the amount of politically/socially-charged context kakashi must be constantly navigating as a leaf shinobi, even though we don’t get to see much of it.
the transformation of the hidden leaf village is obviously still a work in progress, and society never changes overnight.  we’ve heard at various points in shippuden about the still-present divide between hardliners like danzo and the (somewhat) more moderate senju line, and it’s clear that there are still plenty of reactionary/conservative forces at work in the shinobi world, which means there are absolutely still segments of the population who would view the kind of challenge that kakashi and his students pose to traditional shinobi values as a threat.  and back when kakashi first chose to reaffirm his father’s principles, i’m sure it was much worse - the way minato tells it, the entire village and the land of fire turned on sakumo, and it’s not like all those people just disappeared when kakashi finally allowed himself to recognize that all of them were doing something wrong.  they were still there.  they were his neighbors.  they were his colleagues.  he had to live with them.  he had to work with them - he had to work FOR them, even.  to this day, he still does.
like.  i am FASCINATED by the complexities of this situation, even though we barely see any of it.  just...thinking about thirteen year-old kakashi being a member of the Jonin Assembly alongside all of these grown adults who persecuted his father until the “great man who everyone looked up to” couldn’t survive it any longer.  thinking about teenage kakashi lost and “waiting to die” in the anbu black ops, but still breaking every rule to rescue little tenzo from a hardline conservative who tried to have kakashi assassinated.  thinking about adult kakashi, still a member of that same Jonin Assembly, still working alongside people he can clearly remember harassing and attacking his father for saving their lives, being asked to serve as a clandestine hokage under danzo’s nose, because foreign nations trust kakashi where they don’t trust the actual nominee, and then being nominated for real when danzo turns up dead (and having his nomination approved, i might add, by the land of fire, whose government officially blamed kakashi’s father for the damage that resulted from that abandoned mission years before).
we only get hints about the lingering controversy surrounding kakashi and his family via danzo and, occasionally, the village elders, but like.  kakashi occupies such a complex place in the hidden leaf village, because he’s become incredibly respected and renowned by many (if not most) of its residents, but he also spends every day of his life moving within a community where many (if not most) of the older people around him participated in a campaign of vicious harassment against his father, one that ultimately led to his death.  some of them may have had changes of heart after sakumo’s suicide - that seems like the kind of thing that might have shocked some people into reevaluating their positions, particularly given how respected sakumo was prior to that time - and some of them probably died later in the war, but we know there’s still a conservative faction active in the hidden leaf village, and some of those people are always going to be who they are.  and even the people who aren’t - even the ones who regret how they acted - it’s still so complicated!  how do you continue to live and work in that environment?  how do you navigate a history of being harmed in that way, when you still have to collaborate with and/or serve the same people who did the harming, some of whom likely view you with the exact same disdain they had for your father?
kakashi manages it, somehow, though i’ll bet he has complicated feelings about it, even if he keeps them to himself.  and that’s yet another reason why (if i can just take these thoughts on a slight detour to the present) i think kakashi’s relationship with sasuke is so vitally important, especially moving forward.  sasuke’s family was wronged by the village too, in horrific, unforgivable ways - the shinobi system swallowed itachi whole and sacrificed the entire uchiha clan on the altar of a mission, in exactly the kind of evil, inhuman decision-making process that sakumo and obito and kakashi said could never be justified.  the uchiha were victims of the same shinobi system that drove kakashi’s father to his death - the one that said “everything is acceptable as long as the task at hand is accomplished.  people are disposable in service to a mission.”  both sasuke and kakashi’s families fell to a cultural context that refused to acknowledge that it is never okay to sacrifice your comrades for a mission, a cultural context that embraced this belief to the point where even literal genocide became excusable.
if sasuke is ever going to really and truly Come Home, he’s going to need to learn how to navigate this situation.  not to excuse the wrong that was done, and certainly not to give up on getting justice for himself and his clan, but also to figure out, in conjunction with these important tasks, how to continue existing in an environment where so much officially-sanctioned harm was done to his person, and where so many people around him have at least a little bit of history of being suspicious of or uncharitable towards the uchiha clan, even though they obviously didn’t know about the impending coup or danzo’s extermination order.
it’s an incredibly complicated situation, and even if kakashi doesn’t have all the answers, he can at least understand what it feels like to be in that kind of position.  he’s been navigating something like this for many, many years.  he’s the precedent, someone who can help sasuke wrestle with the perhaps unanswerable questions of how am i supposed to dedicate myself to a place that wronged me like this?  why should i protect people who hurt me so badly?  is there even a way for me to move forward here, if i can’t forgive the ones who took my family away from me?  can this actually be my home again, when i know what it did to my people?
kakashi has obviously managed to come up with answers to these questions that enable him to stay integrated in his community and keep building a future he believes in, though I doubt any of his answers are simple, and i’m sure there are some things that he’s just had to accept will never be fully settled in his heart.  it’s like what he says to obito in an episode i watched recently: “i don’t know anything for sure, either...i’ve thought that this world is hell, too...but...”  it’s the but that matters.  even in the face of confusion and complexity, kakashi has found a way to keep moving.  he’s learned to co-exist with the uncertainty and discomfort surrounding him, and to make his own meaning out of this life, regardless of how complicated his internal relationship with the village might be.  he’s found a way to keep his eyes trained on the light, whatever that light might look like for him, and even if said light is only, as gaara says, “the faintest glimmer.”  he has so much to teach someone like sasuke, who up until recently was responding to that same plea of gaara’s with a fatalistic “i shut my eyes a long time ago.  the things i seek now lie only in the darkness.”
anyway.  i am just having Many Thoughts currently about the intricacies of the political and social context that kakashi is always navigating, even though he never says a word about it.  and i’m curious whether this family history will ever come up again in the last fifth of this show.  if i were going on instinct alone, i’d suspect that we weren’t quite done with sakumo yet - i feel like we barely even started with him, to be honest (and also - whatever happened to kakashi’s mother???) - but i should know better at this point than to try and predict what this show is going to do, so i’ll just wait and see.
#naruto#meta#pan watches naruto#i got lost on the path of life#this is something i've always kind of wondered about in the back of my mind#but i started really focusing on it recently because of the conversations i've been having with dreamersscape about shikamaru and kakashi#because the other thing i think about in conjunction with this topic is how the kids have absolutely zero clue about any of this#sakumo's story seems to be - at least from what i've seen so far -#something that the entire leaf village just decided to never discuss again immediately after it reached its horrifying conclusion#whether out of shame or whatever else#it's buried history#even in the immediate aftermath - obito only knows the white fang as 'that hero who died protecting the village'#the rest of the story seems to have become That Of Which We Do Not Speak#and naruto's generation is even further removed from the history than obito was; so they just have no idea#like - naruto once asked kakashi who lady chio meant by 'the white fang'; and when kakashi uncomfortably answered 'my father'#naruto was so shocked by the concept of kakashi having parents that he never even asked any follow-up questions XD XD XD#so anyway i'm just thinking about how much the younger kids are going to start learning after they come home and start climbing the ranks#eg shikamaru shadowing kakashi in jonin circles and starting to pick up on dynamics he hasn't been exposed to before#bc i'm sure kakashi's philosophy for preparing jonin aspirants will be just as stubbornly renegade as his process for genin#and i can imagine there are certain tasks he'll set or standards he'll outline that might stir up some muttering#at least among the old guard#anyway.  i think about this stuff a lot#the kids starting to learn all of the things that everybody else already knows about kakashi but nobody ever talks about#including kakashi himself#sasuke got the cliffsnotes version the day he left the leaf village; but there is still SO MUCH he and the other kids aren't aware of#they know nothing about kakashi's history with obito or rin or yamato or itachi; or what happened to his father; or how he got his sharingan#or that he was targeted for assassination by danzo as a teenager#they have no idea what his life was like AT ALL; and honestly i think kakashi wanted it to be that way#but that bubble has to pop eventually; and i can only imagine the kids' faces when they start to discover just how much they never knew.

Tea time~
dear @lemony-snickers this is for you! (did you think you'd get nothing, huh?)! You once told me that you think you could not put Saya into AU's as long as the main story is not finished (if ever), but I put things in Au's all the time so that don't stop me! (This sign cant stop me because I cant read) So here is my impression Modern AU. I tried to keep the spirit of the first few chapters, but didn't follow it beat by beat. I hope that is ok. Love you ok bye
Tumblr media
Modern AU (we are in Tokyo)
Kakashi & OC
2263 words.
Tumblr media
Running in heels was never the best idea, but Saya especially despised it when she was forced to wear a closed up pencil skirt like she had to when a client was over. Yes, working with clients was part of her job and she had never regretted her late career change from drama to banking, not only because it brought a higher paycheck, but also because sometimes the work could be rewarding, but when she had to wear heels, tight skirts and was late for her lunch time, then she got grumpy.
Her usual lunch place was just a block down from the high office business tower she worked in. ANBU corps international was one of the many faceless corporations dwelling Tokyo's centre, only that they mostly focused on finances. This meant almost everything, from opening bank accounts for kids living alone to making sure the next billionaire could ship off his fortune into a tax haven. Anbu didn’t ask questions and Saya, as well as the other 4000 workers in the ten store building did as their superior told them.
The cafe was small and quiet, you could almost miss it if you didn’t know where it was. Saya almost fell over her feet when she arrived. She pressed her hands to both her sides and breathed in and out and in again. Going inside and showing that she was completely out of breath from hurrying for just about 10 minutes just seemed too embarrassing. She looked over the plants that were visible in the window, the little symbol of a leaf above the cafe’s entrance and then she finally entered.
It was busy inside, well, as busy as it could be for a cafe that wasn’t as big anyway. She snagged the last corner table next to the window and got a little can of green tea and a little sweet bread put out by the nice waiter, who already knew her. “Late today, Tsunematsu-san”, he smiled as he put the things down and Saya swiped the sweat off her forehead. “Meeting ran late”, she replied and he nodded knowingly.
She always spent the entire free hour here, just eating a little sweet treat and drinking one cup of tea after the other. As many other worker drones in the big city she had to do overtime quite frequently and then the cafe was often closed already when she got out. If she was lucky enough to get out at five as she should then she sometimes returned for another green tea. It really was exceptionally good here. They said it was an old family recipe.
Her eyes were looking over the people running around outside when they fell on a weirdly familiar outline of hair. Saya had only ever met one guy who was wearing his hair this wild without getting reprimanded by HR. Hatake Kakashi was quite the character, at least in Saya’s experience. They worked the same company, though they had barely ever even interacted and the one time they had it had ended in a disaster. Hatake was in the international part of the company, while Saya worked with domestic clients, usually local issues with small banking.
Hatake had stopped in front of the window to the cafe, hands stuck in the pockets of his grey suit as if he was thinking. Maybe he was considering who’s day to ruin next, Saya thought a little spitefully. When they had worked together she had been still new and just recently had finished her education switch from teatre.
Somehow she had been assigned a case that connected a local japanese woman to an old French bank account and so Saya had been called to work with Hatake. Her English wasn’t perfect and her French was nonexistent, so Hatake had gotten frustrated with her easily. They had screamed at each other, it was not a nice sight for anyone around.
For some reason his eyes looked up and through the window right into hers. Saya frowned and looked away. “Don’t see me,” she thought, but was also half convinced he did not remember her anyway. After the screaming incident they had been separated, both had lost their clients, disaster for the company and Saya had been close to losing the job almost immediately after getting it. Fortunately they had given her a second chance and it was equally fortunate that they kept Hatake and her apart from then on.
She hadn’t seen him in three years until this day and was glad to go another three without seeing him again. But when she lifted her eyes she could see him close the cafe door behind him and make a b-line for her table.
“Tsunematsu-san”, he said as he sat down. She moved back in her chair: “Hatake-san.” Quiet fell over them immediately. Well what else was there to say? Hatake seemed dumbfounded as to why he had even sat down with her, almost as dumbfounded as she was. When she allowed herself to look closer at him though she thought she found something in his face that resembles loneliness, maybe a need for human interaction.
Right, alright, this time, kindness, one time, she thought and tapped with her finger to the table: “Would you like some of my green tea to drink for your break, Hatake-san?”
“Oh, yes, that would be quite nice”, he replied. Saya waved to the waiter and he soon came over with another cup. She filled it for Hatake and pushed it over to him. They both drank in silence again.
Why was he here? Of course he was free to spend his lunch break however he wanted to, but why did he come to her table specifically? Was it because every other table was crowded? At least that seemed somewhat plausible. Hatake was a known person in the company not only because he had been deemed a genius during his education, but also because he notoriously shied away from spending time with his colleagues.
As far as Saya had heard he rarely went drinking after work hours and while Saya herself also wasn’t a big fan of that particular convention, she did join each time she was being asked. She was, after all, raised to be polite, especially to fit in. But Hatake never went out with anybody unless his boss specifically requested it and even then he went home early.
Hatake finally cleared his throat, clearly also affected by the awkward silence between them. “So are you still..? You know… working for… Anbu?” Saya’s eyebrow twitched a little, but she replied as calmly as she could muster: “Yes.” She quickly added on a: “Doing very well there too.”
“No doubt about that”, Hatake nodded, which was confusing to her, but she decided to let it slide.
“And you?” she asked. Her fingers were sticky from the sweet bread she had been eating and now that she thought about it too much she was also dirty in her face.
He took another sip of his tea. “Also,” he said and then with a little grin, “still doing well too, as far as I am aware at least.” Seeing that the conversation had run dry once more he said: “Do you always go here for your lunch break?” Saya could see his grey eye wander around the room. There was something with his left eye, the one that was painted with a large scar, that Saya did not exactly know about. The only thing she had learned was that seeing things out of that eye seemed hard for him, at least when he sat in front of a computer.
“Yes, it is not far from the office,” Saya said. “It is cosy and not too expensive and usually I don’t meet anyone from work here.” Hatake laughed a little as if against his will and murmured a “Sorry” under his breath. “That is an advantage indeed” he nodded.
Not that Saya hated her coworkers. Apart from the one that now sat on her opposite she never really had an issue with any others. She just couldn’t shake the feeling that behind her back people were still talking about her. It was, after all, just not usual for people to do a late career change like she had. But she did her job reliably and fast and so they could not complain loudly about her.
“What led you here today, Hatake-san?” Saya finally let out the question that had been on her mind from the moment he had walked in. Hatake refilled his cup with a look to her and she nodded to give him permission. It was okay, after all, she always ordered a full can that she barely needed every day.
Hatake took a moment to reply and it seemed like he too didn’t really know how to answer the question. “I usually don’t go out during lunch, I just get some bread from the store downstairs in the building”, he said, still seeming a little absent minded. “But today I felt like going somewhere. I can’t really tell you why. Maybe I just needed the fresh air. Before I knew where I was I saw you through the window of this shop.”
And then you decided to walk in to sit with me, Saya thought, but didn’t say anything. “I then thought- I somehow thought it would be …” He hesitated for a second, “..nice to sit with you and so I did?” He made it sound more like a question than a decision.
None of this made sense to her, at least not right now, but this feeling she had had from the beginning creeped up to her again. He was obviously craving some human interaction for some reason and had latched onto the first person he had known that he could talk to. While their only interaction had been a negative one, this was also years ago when both of them had been younger still, so Saya didn’t see a reason to be resentful at this point.
“I’m here every lunch unless I have to work through it,” she said, “I try to get this table as often as I can because of the nice view out of the window. If you want to come again, please feel free to join me for a cup of tea and something sweet…”
Hatake moved his head back, his long hair was hanging in streaks into his face and a light crossed his eyes. He smiled just lightly when he replied: “I don’t like sweet things, but I would love to take you up on that tea invitation.”
Saya tapped with her finger onto the table again: “Invitation? I will surely not pay for your everytime!”
“Right, right”, he put a hand up defensively. “I will invite you next time, Tsunematsu-san.”
“That sounds more like it,” she laughed in reply. Maybe it wasn’t going to be too bad to share the break time with someone, especially when it was someone pleasant to talk to, Saya thought. And all in all she didn’t know much about Kakashi Hatake. Maybe he would turn out to be a good companion - as long as they didn’t have to work together again.
– –
Kakashi returned to the office separately from Saya Tsunematsu, mostly because they hadn’t discussed going together. He ran into Yamato Tenzo in the elevator. The younger man worked very closely by his side most of the time and was maybe one of the only people he considered a friend.
“Where have you been?” Yamato asked, one hand stemmed into his hip like he was a mother scolding her son who was late for dinner.
Kakashi shrugged his shoulders: “Was out.” Yamato didn’t have to point out that Kakashi usually didn’t go out, because Kakashi could read it in his eyes. So instead Yamato asked: “Was that nice?” Which was a very nice question to ask.
He thought of the hour he had just spent with Tsunematsu, a woman, that by all means he knew nothing about. He had crashed her time alone, drunk her tea, and gotten himself invited for more lunch hang outs. It had happened like in a blurr, so he had not really had the time to think about if it was nice or not.
“Yes,” Kakashi settled on. “The cafe was very nice.”
Yamato clearly wanted to ask a follow up question, but the elevator made a ding sound and they could step back into their office space. Kakashi quickly walked away from his friends' interested eyes and sat down at his computer.
Normally he was fine with the little friendships he had. Kakashi was good at being by himself first and foremost. But somehow this morning he had woken up tired, more tired than usual. He had escaped the high rise building as if it was a prison at lunch and hurried down the street with no place to go as if he was looking for something. Seeing Tsunematsu sitting inside the Konoha cafe gave him the feeling like that was what he had been looking for.
This was idiotic of course, they barely knew each other. He had bothered her and she had been too nice to send him away and the only thing he could do now was pay it back to her at least a little. Tomorrow he’d try to get there quicker than she would so there was already hot tea ready once she made it there, he decided. Maybe that would make it up to her then.

So who does Nyxsuke adopt first - Naruto or Tenzo? (and when does Nyxsuke officially meet Tenzo, because I'm dying for actual bonding between the two, and for Nyx to teach Tenzo the Sacred Laws and the Color Code and everything. Also, what's Tsunade and Sasuke's reactions to each other? Actually, how DOES Nyx meet the last of the Sannin, because I'm assuming he's not dumb enough to just charge at Itachi after the asskicking he got from Orochimaru. So he might be there WITH Naruto and Jiraiya.)
a-world-in-grey asked:
Also, I don't know if you mentioned it already, but what braids do the reincarnated Galahdians wear? I imagine all of them probably wear the Chief braids of their Clans, since they're the only ones at first, but especially Nyx and Lib after they start adopting. But do any of them wear a Braid of the Last? Does Tredd wear a Revenge Braid like Nyx (probably) does? Does Lib braid a Hero Braid into Nyx's hair after he learns how Nyx died summoning the Old Wall and killing Titus? Any Mourning Braids?
a-world-in-grey asked:
Aka, Tenzo meets Sola when he and his ANBU squad bring her the offer to defect to Konoha, and I need to know what I've got to work with, because the *potential*... >:3
Me:
Nyxsuke actually adopts Tenzo first! That's gonna happen in like- chapter 8 or 9 I think. Well before canon. That surprised me ngl, because Naruto desperately needs adopting, but for some reason Nyx was like. No. This is my feral mask tree man and Imma adopt him first. So.
Nyxsuke I don't *think* will officially actually "meet" Tenzo (as in, get his name and see him without the mask) until- gosh at least Naruto canon? Possibly in the time between Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden? But that doesn't mean Tenzo isn't family long before then. He teaches Nyxsuke sign language (and anbu hand sign shhhhh) so that they can talk without breaking the anbu silence rule, and Nyxsuke still imprints Sacred Laws and Color Code onto him through a mix of osmosis and talking?
.
Nyxsuke is at first, uh.
Not impressed.
With Tsunade
Tbf he's not impressed with MOST of the adults and he basically had her on his "don't like or trust" list the moment he was informed she was an old teammate and friend of Jiraiya, who Nyxsuke hates almost as much as he hates the Third.
Tsunade at first writes him off as an arrogant, spoiled Last Uchiha, because most adults do and also Tsunade can be an idiot sometimes (who the heck finger flicks a child to the point of sending him skidding several yards. Tsunade flipping Senju that's who), but does realize ... fairly rapidly? That she badly underestimated both him and Naruto. After initial first impressions Nyxsuke is grudgingly respectful, only because she's a better leader than the Third and Naruto likes her for some wild reason. He doesn't see her as a Clan Chief in any sense of the word, but she's better than some Crownsguard officers he's met and she doesn't seem to be on board with the "abandon children in their compounds all alone" thing once she hears about it. So he will treat her cordially and follow her orders so long as they don't conflict with taking care of his Clan.
They meet at the same time Tsunade meets Naruto actually! Nysuke ends up inserting himself on that quest for various reasons that I will not spoil (one of them however is "I do not trust this frog man as far as I can throw Titan himself") and so he's there when Jiraiya is like- we're checking in all the bars for our *future leader*.
Nyxsuke: *Already fully ready to verbally shred this individual and all their life choices*
The Bet thing that goes down is probably gonna include Nyxsuke somehow, but I haven't entirely nailed it down yet and also don't wanna spoil that. So.
You know, I don't think I actually sat down and worked out what braids they all have? Nyx and Lib absolutely have Chief Braids, Crowe probably just has a Clan braid? That she upgrades to Chief once she's adopted someone (Lib has already adopted his mom). Nyx 100% has a braid of the Last and iirc a braid of mourning and another of revenge? Or a combo one for those two. I forget if I ever said in fic. But that would make sense. Lib, since he adopted his mom, doesn't need to wear a Last braid. Crowe probably has one.
Tredd wears a braid of revenge over Kisame yes, and all three have Braids of the Last on top of their Clan braids.
Honestly? Lib probably *does* insist on putting a Hero Braid in there, but that might end up not happening until they've also reunited with Crowe and/or Pelna, since Nyx insists you need more than one person's approval to put one of those in. They hear Lib's story about what followed after the fall of Insomnia, and what Lib learned about how Nyx died, and are just: *Shut up and accept the braid Nyx*
.
*excited noises* I WOULD LOVE TO SEE TENZO MEETING SOLA. REEEEEEE. I hope my answers helped!

After listening to the Sasha Sloan song this is titled after, I couldn’t get angsty KakaRin out of my head, so here’s an ANBU-era Kakashi drabble. Please beware this has dark themes and, I guess, spoilers if you haven’t seen/read Naruto all the way through.
Dancing with your Ghost
.
.
.
It’s the nightmare again.
Kakashi should be used to it by now. It happens almost every night. Rin’s wide brown eyes flashing with chidori’s hot spark, the crimson blood pouring from her lips, the whisper of his name - such vivid and frequent images in his mind. Somehow, her last moments in this world still feel real every time he wakes. It’s been almost two years since that day, but no matter how many times his mind re-enacts this, taking her life comes as painful as that first time.
What’s more painful is what comes after.
As Kakashi sits up in a cold sweat, catching his breath from the pure terror of it, the current reality rises to the surface. For a moment, he was looking into her eyes. Rin endured a second of pain in his psyche, but at least there she’d existed. Here in this cold, dark house in the hidden leaf village too big for Kakashi alone, she’s gone. There is no Rin Nohara. And just as that reality settles in - that she is nothing more than a ghost haunting his memories - the reality that it’s because of him that she’s gone crashes on top of him, smothering him with its weight until he can’t breathe.
He doesn’t sleep again.
He washes away imaginary blood, sharpens weapons, reads, and prepares meals for the week in the early hours leading up to his next mission - all futile efforts of distraction. Their futility lies in the fact that every act reminds him of the girl he killed, her face so fresh in his mind. Following that nightmare, memories of Rin can be activated by the most minuscule things. From the shade of purple vegetables so similar to clan markings he’ll never see on blushing cheeks again to the first-aid pack conjuring memories of a certain gift - once a token of his accomplishment, now a reminder of the responsibility and title he doesn’t feel he deserves. Maybe this time, on this mission, he’ll meet his fate and follow her - follow them - to where he belongs.
With eyelids as heavy and weary as his heart, Kakashi sets out, mission after mission, following sleepless night after sleepless night. Somehow, he fails to follow her path. He believes Rin’s ghost must be at his side in the day just as she is at night, always watching, just like he feels Obito is watching, too. There must be a reason they don’t let him join them and their sensei. Since it seems there’s something he’s meant to do, he’ll continue to fight for the village. He’ll fight to honor his teammates’ memories and make them proud.
He fights, hoping Rin sees his warmest moments and forgives him all his coldest ones - especially the moment he hates most of all, the one which took her away from him.

Wanted
Kakashi Hatake was frustrated as he sat alone on his bed, his lights turned off and blankets over his shoulders as he drank from the bottle of wine he was holding in one of his hands by its neck. It wasn't that strong, not enough to muddle his senses to the point where he couldn't feel anymore, but Guy had made him promise to stop drinking hard liquor to drown his feelings.
So, he resorted to drinking light liquor like wine and beer as a replacement. It wasn't as satisfying for the lonely nights and still left him with the same killer hangovers in the morning, but he supposed it would work until he could find a better coping mechanism that worked as well.
It was dark outside as he stared out his window, halfway through the bottle, which would be the equivalent of a glass or two- not nearly enough to get him drunk, but enough to have him somewhat buzzed and a little dizzy, hence why he didn't stand up to object when no other than Might Guy tumbled into his bedroom through the window.
Might Guy, his best friend, one of the only people who cared, the love of his life- not that Guy knew about that last one, of course. Kakashi hadn't told him about his feelings and that was probably for the best. Guy had a hard enough time dealing with Kakashi's mess of a self most days even though they were only friends, and Kakashi could only imagine how much worse it would be if they were dating. On top of that, Kakashi and love had never mixed all that well- more like oil and water than anything, as every time he had loved someone and allowed them to love him in return, they inevitably wound up dead. Plus, as much as Guy seemed enthusiastic to be around him, Kakashi knew that the ravenette didn't want him like that. They were just rivals; friends.
The only version of Kakashi that anyone seemed to want was the cool, calm, and collected one who could handle everything by himself. Not the emotional wreck who turned to alcohol for comfort and pushed everyone away. After joining the Anbu, it seemed that was all he had become- especially around Guy, who he never saw these days aside from times like this where he'd be trying to sulk and the older man would interrupt to try and make everything better.
The other Jonin paused before walking across the room and sitting down on Kakashi's bed, right next to him. Kakashi didn't look up, not wanting to see the face of disappointment that he knew was there.
"You know that's bad for you, rival," Guy scolded, taking the bottle of wine out of his hands, but taking a swig of it himself before setting it down on the nightstand, not even bothering to look for the cork or anything else to close it with.
"Don't care," Kakashi spat, though that was a lie.
He cared- not because he cared about himself or his own health, but because Guy cared and as much as he craved and appreciated that attention, he was sick of making his best friend worry over such a lost cause. It was a waste of time, and for some reason, as much as he tried to push the ravenette away, it never worked like it did with everyone else.
"Well, I do."
Kakashi could only sigh and run a hand through his hair, which was messed up to all hell- not that he cared much about his appearance in front of Guy at this point. He was only in a pair of loose shorts, his mask not even on, though Guy had seen him in lesser states of dress over the years; when they were curious teens who'd compared each other's bodies despite how ridiculous it was, that time Guy had been forced to stitch Kakashi's split lip with a sewing needle and thread because they were on a mission and no medical ninjas were around and Kakashi wouldn't let anyone else see his face, or that other time when Guy had somehow managed to get his ass cheek sliced by a Stone ninja's sword on a mission and Kakashi was the only one he'd let change his bandages and apply ointment when the huge gash was healing.
At this point, they didn't have much shame around each other when it came to physical things.
"Whatever."
There was a pause, and finally, Kakashi met his rival's gaze. The taller man was forcing a smile, clearly trying to be reassuring and calm like he always was despite the fact that he clearly didn't know how to deal with this properly. It was funny- even if he wasn't forcing that smile until his face twitched with the effort it took to keep it up, and even if he wasn't looking at Kakashi in a way that was almost loving, he would still manage to be just as reassuring as he always was. His presence was enough.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're tired of me, rival!"
"I'm always tired, Guy," Kakashi laughed, the noise almost bitter but wistful in its own way. He didn't miss the light red hue that took over the other Jonin's cheeks, but he didn't question it, either. "But never of you."
"You do look tired," Guy reached out in an oddly intimate gesture, pushing Kakashi's hair out of his face and smoothing it back the best he could. Kakashi, of course, leaned into the touch. He couldn't remember the last time someone had touched his hair for sure- maybe that time Obito had tried to yank some of it out in response to one of Kakashi's sarcastic jabs, or that time Rin had tried to braid it to no avail because of how messy it was. Thinking about it made him want to cry, but he didn't, only biting his lip and allowing his eyes to fall shut as Guy's hand rested on his shoulder in a soothing manner. "You know I love you, right?"
Hearing what his rival had just said, the moment it registered, his eyes snapped open again.
Within a few seconds of that, Kakashi felt everything crash down on him. Guy loved him? How was that meant to be taken? Was it romantically in the way he'd secretly wanted for so long, or was it just in that friendly way he loved everyone else in? If it was the latter, how come he hadn't said it until this point? They'd been friends for a good fifteen years now. If it was meant in a friendly way, wouldn't he have said it earlier?
"...As in?" Kakashi asked for clarification, tilting his head and pulling the blankets that he had draped over his shoulders even closer to himself in some attempt at self-comfort.
He was nervous and he really didn't want to be, but he couldn't help how his heart was beating so fast that he was sure the other man must've been able to hear it.
"I'm in love with you, Kakashi! I always have been."
"Oh, shit," He muttered, almost unable to believe it.
Guy was being serious, right? Did he know what those words meant to Kakashi? Did he know about the one-sided pining that Kakashi had thought he'd been doing for so long? "You're not joking or something right now, are you?"
"What? Of course not!" He exclaimed, almost as if he was offended by Kakashi thinking about the possibility of his sudden confession being some sort of sick joke. "Why do you look so surprised? Should- Should I leave? I'm sorry if that was too much-"
Guy went to stand up, but Kakashi tossed the blankets off of himself and grabbed the older man by the arm, pulling him back down where he'd been sitting just seconds before and silently shaking his head.
"Don't leave, I just... I am surprised. I thought you didn't want me," Kakashi admitted, voice uncharacteristically quiet; shaky.
In front of everyone else, he would've kept up that calm and confident facade, but this was Guy and he was already vulnerable enough to not care as much as he usually would. Guy loved him. He could be at least somewhat honest about everything. "I thought you'd never want me."
"What?"
"Who would willingly make themselves deal with this?" Kakashi laughed and offered a half-hearted smile, awkwardly gesturing to himself with his hand. "You, apparently... I guess you always have," He muttered, knowing that it was true. Guy had always been there for him, whether it was to start one of those stupid challenges that made him remember that someone did look forward to seeing him most days, or to scold him for scrubbing his arms raw of the blood that wasn't there anymore, or to keep him from drinking himself into oblivion. "But I didn't think it was like that."
"It's a privilege to deal with you."
"Of course you'd say that."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Guy questioned, withdrawing his hand from Kakashi's shoulder so he could cross his arms.
"You've always cared too much," Kakashi reminded the older man, shaking his head.
Guy only smiled in that way he always did when he felt challenged, holding a finger up as he started to speak again.
"It makes up for-!"
"The fact that I don't care enough about myself, I know," Kakashi cut his best friend off, dismissively waving his hand before picking up one of the blankets that he'd thrown off of himself and balling it up so he could hug it close to his chest; a nervous habit of his. This conversation was making him nervous, and he wasn't sure of whether he should be relieved or more worried than he was before about Guy's feelings towards him. "That's why you've always cared so much."
"No, it's not," Guy scoffed, but then gave an apologetic look and ran a hand through his silky black locks and let out a small huff. "I mean, sure, the way you act worries me a lot! But whether you're like this or on the top of the world, I'll always care about you just as much as I do now- as much as I always have!"
"For the record," Kakashi started, sighing. "I love you- I'm in love with you, too. Always have been... Always will be."
"I can't believe you thought I wouldn't want you-"
Not wanting to address that part of things, Kakashi grabbed his best friend's arm again and buried his face into the man's shoulder. He smelled like the cologne that Kakashi had always claimed to hate despite loving in secret, citrus, and something else that just screamed home. Kakashi would bathe himself in that if he could.
"Stay," The silver-haired man spoke one word, and it was a bit muffled by the cloth of the green jumpsuit that he had practically shoved his face into.
"Huh?" Guy hummed, seemingly unsure of whether or not he'd heard that correctly.
"Stay the night," Kakashi reiterated, moving to hold one of Guy's hands, gently squeezing it and taking a deep breath in. "Please."
Guy offered a nod in response, ditching his shoes and jumpsuit so he was only in his boxers as well before he crawled into the bed. Kakashi laid down next to his rival, watching as the ravenette grabbed the large comforter and pulled it over them. Without much warning, Guy was wrapping his arms around the younger man's lithe body, cuddling up next to him in a way that had his cheeks burning red at the sudden contact.
Kakashi wasn't sure if Guy was burning hot or if he was just ice cold, but the sudden skin to skin contact had him melting at the warmth of the older man, whose legs were entangled with his and whose arms were around his waist.
"You always this cold?" Guy questioned, one of his hands moving to gently run up and down Kakashi's bare back, sending tingles of heat through the pale skin that made him want more of that same feeling.
"Usually."
"Kakashi," Guy started again, the hand that had been on Kakashi's back now trailing up to run through the ends of the Anbu's silvery hair; comforting.
For the first time in what must've been years, Kakashi relaxed and allowed himself to breathe as he looked up at the man he loved, who was only smiling down at him in that loving way he almost always did.
"Hm?"
"You're always going to be wanted."

Shikamaru and Sasuke would walk outside the Hyuuga estate, careful disinterest showing in their faces, despite the absolute rage they feel on the inside.
As clan heirs, they both know, that Hyuuga has different traditions, but that doesn't mean it's right.
So whenever they're excused to go, they would slip on tight-lipped smiles, and Sasuke would pull Shikamaru outside the door, hand gripped tight to not let the Nara accidentally punch the stoic face of Hiashi.
He doesn't really know how it started, his and Neji's relationship was one that started off rocky, with their annoyance at each other teetering over the edge every time they meet.
They can somehow just rile up each other, their previous calm and collected figures thrown haphazardly out the window. They leave teasing each other with how better their own dojutsu is over the other.
His annoyance doesn't taint the fact he knows that the screams of pain he hears while getting farther away the main house is not right.
He wills himself to pull Shikamaru farther, not trusting to stop in their steps in case that he himself barges into that house to stop Neji's pain.
He remembers the meetings his mother usually takes, leaving him with Shikamaru and Hinata on a room, the Hyuuga's cousin standing by the corner.
Fugaku was genin teammates with Hiashi and Yoshino, while Mikoto was with Kushina and Shikaku.
So, Shikamaru would mostly be dozing off in the corner, while Hinata would just..read or make flower crowns, that she once placed atop of his head.
He, in his annoying 5-year old body, would bother Neji, looking to bright white eyes with his bottomless onyx ones, glaring.
And..Neji would get defensive and narrow his white eyes, which would then startle the living shit out of him, his own surprise mirroring on pupil-less eyes.
"Stay away," he would say to him, but he never seemed to understand, staying with him while they grew up.
Sasuke, despite his soul screaming at him to come back, doesn't stop dragging Shikamaru to the gates, squeezing the tan hand in his in comfort.
They know, they all know not to intervene, or else Neji would have worse, and he doesn't really want to put the male in much more pain because of him.
Shikamaru seethes with rage, his right hand clenching and unclenching in anger. Sasuke stops by the sidewalk, letting go of their intertwined hands.
He extends his arm, Shikamaru's twitchy hands clasping on his arm covering, tan fingers twisting in the white fabric.
They slowly walk away towards the Uchiha complex, Shikamaru focusing on calming himself down.
"You know that we can't stop him, Shika, as much as we want to." he mumbles, brushing a strand of hair out of his face with his unoccupied hand.
Shikamaru grumbles, "I hate that even I tell my parents, they can't stop Uncle Hiashi."
It's a very known fact after all, you can't fight a clan's traditions, it's against their law, and it's showing disrespect.
Shikamaru knows, for a fact, a lot of things. He knows, after much observation and interrupted naps, that Naruto is (he's sure of it, but he'll find the truth, soon.) the son of the Yondaime and his wife. His uncle...and aunt.
He knows for a fact, that it's illogical, for Itachi Uchiha to massacre the whole clan just to prove his strength.
He seems to be not the only one who has this conclusion, based on his shared glances with Neji when they were sitting by Sasuke's bed side.
He knows, that Itachi loves his brother so much, to death, and did not kill his kin for absolutely no reason.
He knows, that the main family and branch system of the Hyuuga clan is absolutely vile, Neji's pain making him hurt physically, while he and Sasuke wait in the sidelines, helpless in his cries of help.
He knows that once he's a jounin, he'll do everything he can do, to help his friends, survive this nightmare.
He's laying on a patch of grass, underneath a canopy of leaves, watching the clouds pass by.
Neji stumbles up the hill, weak and clutching at his forehead, shivering.
Sasuke looks over from practicing his fire jutsu at the dock, running quickly to support Neji up the hill.
Shikamaru asked him why he bothered to come, that they wouldn't have minded if he was absent, and that he should've rested instead.
All he said was, "I didn't want to be alone."
Shikamaru rapped on the door repeatedly, before stepping away a bit, bowing. "Hiashi-san, would it be alright if I invite Neji to my house, my parents are hoping that he comes to dinner."
Hiashi would frown disapprovingly at him, before relenting, Neji's half smile greeting him when the Hyuuga walked out the door.
He's grateful, that his parents try.
Sees them checking up on Naruto and Sasuke, and by extension, Neji. They try their best to be there for them, the adults being there for their deceased parents, their deceased team mates.
"They would have done the same if they were the one alive." they told him with gentle smile, and a ruffle of hair.
Shikamaru finds out early, that Sasuke and Neji's dojutsu places a strain on their eyes, and chakra pathways, so he learns.
Despite being lazy, he learns medical ninjutsu, on his spare time. He barrels through clan jutsus and training, always making sure to leave space for learning it.
He learns, even if it's so troublesome, he learns.
The grateful smile he receives while green chakra covered hands are pressed to their temples are worth it.
Shikamaru would try to excuse Neji, especially when it's not his fault, just to lessen the pain.
It would never work though, so he just provides comfort after.
Neji, is always brought to the Uchiha compound when he's tired. He would walk through the cold streets towards Sasuke's empty, eerie house.
He would plop down beside Sasuke, leaning his head on his shoulder, while the Uchiha plays shogi against Shikamaru, his right arm across Neji's shoulders, blanketing him in warmth.
His breathing matches with theirs, their quiet murmuring lulling him to sleep.
Neji looks at Shikamaru, the two of them of them sporting frowns on their faces. Yoshino and Shikaku sit by the the table, pale in the face, gripping the table tight.
Shikamaru shared another alarmed glance before pursing his lips, undoubtedly going through multiple reasons why.
Why did Itachi murder the whole clan? Wait, Sasuke-
Shikamaru and Neji's heart stopped, before the two scramble to stand, leaving the table and out of the Nara compound, running with all their might with their small legs.
They pant, looking up to the various yellow tapes surrounding the once loud and lived in compound, splotches of blood smearing across the windows and floor, coppery tang of it making them scrunch their nose.
Shikamaru almost gags when two ANBU guards carry a cold, lifeless Mikoto out of the door, her hand limp on the side.
Neji fights the urge to cry, approaching Chouza, before Shikaku shows up behind them, hugging them both to his chest.
He holds them close, before settling Neji on his hip, and Shikamaru on his shoulders, smiling sadly at Chouza before body flickering to the hospital.
A pale, so so very pale, almost grey looking boy lay against white sheets, charcoal hair falling around his face, furrowed brows and shuffling on the bed.
They breathe out in relief seeing their friend alive, before hearing "He's trapped in a genjutsu."
Sasuke opens his eyes, gasping for breath, crying. He can't breathe, feeling blood all over his body and palms, blood choking him. He sobs, his Sharingan activating for a moment before slumping towards Shikaku's chest, the man letting the boy grieve.
Sasuke hears in the darkness, "We're here, always."
Neji places himself on Sasuke's back, glaring back at the whispers and prying eyes around him. Shikamaru flanks Sasuke's front, scowling at whoever tries to accuse bloody murder on his friend.
They sleep beside him, hoping to lessen his nightmares, and staying up with him when he wakes up crying.
"Sas, you know your brother is not like that right?"
"I know, I just don't understand why."
Shikamaru frowns at him, seeing the scars on his chest and upper arms. He glowers at him before clicking his tongue, muttering "Such a drag." under his breath, mouth turned down in worry.
"I had to protect the idiot. Got the Sharingan though."
They don't bother correcting him.
Neji stares at the cursed mark on Sasuke's shoulder, his thumb absentmindedly grazing across it.
What has Sasuke done to you? Why make him suffer?
Sasuke glares at Danzo, before Kakashi body flickers, pulling at the bandages.
Neji's suspicion was true, it was full of sharingan eyes, Shisui's Mangekyou in Danzo's eyesocket.
Sasuke stiffens, opening and closing his mouth before he staggers back ward, Mangekyou Sharingan spinning in his eyes.
He growls, "How dare you."
(Shikaku, and Yoshino are protective of the boys, along with Iruka and Kakashi. Tsume even threatened Hiashi if he intervenes with the children.
"I've already seen our friends die, I'm not letting you ruin the friendship we wanted for the kids."
Konoha 12 is very tight knit, very protective.)
