GENRE: fluff
FEATURED: joel - mentioned
WARNINGS: nada.
PROMPT: joel is etho's sweet heart~
WORD COUNT: 330
//as someone who is also an enstarry who's heavily a maoP... i couldn't help it with this oneshot, i had to base smalletho off my fave song. (whether you know about ensemble stars or not, please listen to finder girl.)//
If he was able to keep a camera on him at all times, Etho would have taken thousands of photos of the male that stood in the distance.
With the way that the sun shined an outline around Joel's being, although the smile he wore shined far brighter. His smile was a radiance that nothing could compete. A charm that unparalleled any universe possible.
The smile that sparkled like billions of stars made him tempt to focus his stare onto only one certain detail of Joel, but his heart dives into confusing feelings that sends his mind into an array of dreamful colours and every time, Etho immediately looks away, whether Joel had noticed the sense of his glances or not.
His mind would be a flurry of cherry blossoms. Pink petals drifting in the gentle breezy touch of spring — the warmth bloomed in his chest like the endless hours of summer. His emotions never failed to dive into the fall into the leaves of autumn.
The piles of yellow, red, and orange - each individual leaf held a memory of love and pain between Etho and Joel.
Of cold promises being made, like snow being rolled into a massive ball. Each white speck was a word spoken in between one another.
It was as though no matter where Etho went, his mind would remind him of the brilliant primary hours about Joel. He could never take his eyes off the male with the kelly green streak. Whether it was in dreams or during reality, the one with the umber eyes always showed different angles of his personality that Etho could never stop pointing about to himself.
And with those flurry of thoughts, the petals that stayed bright and full of life whenever Joel was nearby for whatever occasion or meaning, Etho wished he knew how to stop prying from the window of wanted needs and to go up to Joel and ask him to be the finder of his heart.

Monophobia pt. 2
Tumblr media
"Rise and shine, [Y/N]! We got an honorary crew member, and it's important that we show her respect by meeting her!" [Y/N] rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and yawned. Sunlight seeped into her tiny bedroom on the Crux, casting a golden glow on her skin. Her bleary gaze was greeted with the sight of her brunette captain.
"M'kay. Just gimmie a sec and I'll be out." Her mouth opened for a yawn but instead, a cough came out in its place. Beidou's eyes rounded with worry.
"Is it getting worse? You can tell me if you need another day away from the wheel. I can give you another job or get Kazuha to check up on you," she suggested. [Y/N]'s grip on her mattress tightened as another set of painful coughs racked her body.
"[Y/N], please, I'm worried about you. You're my family, I don't want to see you in pain..." Beidou pleaded, softly. A wobbly smile tugged at [Y/N]'s lips.
"I'll be alright. I still have a few lucky stars to wish on." Beidou snorted.
"Well once those run out, I'll take you to Bubu Pharmacy." [Y/N] chuckled dryly as she watched the captain turn heel and walk out of her chamber.
The ocean breeze rolled over the deck in playful waves, washing them in its salty ethos. Boxes and crates were loaded onto the ship and a choir of grunts and yelling. At the center of it all was a mysterious blonde and her floating companion.
'That must be the honorary crew member Captain Beidou was talking about.' Many of [Y/N]'s crewmates greeted the traveler with enthusiasm. Kazuha was the sole exception. The wandering samurai sat on the ledge of the stern. He was reciting something to himself, perhaps a haiku he had been working on. To show her respect, [Y/N] waved at the traveler.
"Now, now, let's not overwhelm her. I get you guys are super excited to meet her, but we have to get these supplies to Inazuma before nightfall!" The crew answered Beidou's command with a unanimous "Yes captain!"
The wind conducted the orchestra that was the sea. It sent waves into crescendos' all through the ballad of the Crux's journey. The song of cheerful chatter and humming was the center piece of the beautifully composed music of their travel. Most of [Y/N]'s crewmates spent this time becoming acquainted with the blonde traveler, who's name she had found out was Lumine. Her admiration for Lumine was undeniable, but her fear had won her over and stopped her from approaching her. Instead, she turned to Kazuha.
"Hey, Kazu'. I was thinking about what you said about clouds yesterday, I still don't get it." Kazuha's lips curled into an amused smile.
"It's alright. Are you going to talk to Lumine?" [Y/N] shook her head.
"Nah, I'm scared she won't care much for me and think I'm a waste of time." She forced a chuckle out of her, to lighten the insecurities that had dropped heavily into her sentence. Kazuha got off the ledge and gave [Y/N] a gentle, reassuring tap on the shoulder.
"I'm sure she won't. I've spoken to her, and Lumine's a nice person. Plus, you're a dreamer. I'm sure she'll appreciate that." [Y/N] rolled her eyes. She rested her forearm on the ledge and gazed out at the endless glimmering denim.
"How reassuring." Kazuha chuckled.
"There's power in dreaming. Go ahead and give it a shot," he encouraged.
"Fine, but if I fail, I'll eat your heart out and not in the fun way."
[Y/N] coughed into her elbow as she walked over to Lumine. Currently, Yinxing was rambling on about her previous surgeries and how gruesome each one was.
"Hey, you must be Kazuha's friend." [Y/N] tipped her head to the side, curiosity rounding in her eyes.
"Yeah, how'd you know?" Lumine leaned against the walls of the ship. The salty breeze blew through her strands of gold. She smiled.
"I saw you guys talking and you seemed pretty comfortable with him. So I just assumed. I'm Lumine, by the way." [Y/N] grinned from ear to ear. So far everything was going great! No snarky comments and no spitting.
"Your name is everywhere in Liyue! My name's [Y/N]." Lumine stood back upright and held her hand out to [Y/N].
"Nice to meet you, [Y/N]."
Lumine had accepted her and every inch of the starlight [Y/N] carried, much to the dreamer's surprise. Sunset blossomed upon the horizon, pressing fine orange rays onto the gentle sea that hugged the ship's walls. Through [Y/N]'s squinting eyes, she managed to see the faint image of a dock.
"Crew, prepare to anchor the ship! Inazuma is right ahead!" Beidou called. The crew gave their yells of acknowledgement and cooperation. Two men headed for the anchor and most reached for the crates.
Once the ship had been anchored at the dock, a friendly-looking, blonde man approached them. He greeted Beidou and Kazuha and gave a wave of greeting to Lumine and the rest of the crew. [Y/N] couldn't be bothered to listen to whatever business stuff they were talking about. It wasn't her business, so she wasn't going to interfere or try to understand. Instead, her business was with the stars. Flecks of ethereal, glowing, silver were freckled across evening's dark gown. They forced [Y/N] into a trance. She had memorized the patterns in the sky countless of times, but the patterns never stayed the same. Sadly, not everyone wanted to mind their own business. A certain harbinger took an interest in [Y/N]'s stars, or maybe it wasn't her stars he was interested in.
'I found the brightest star.'

No.27. Red eyes with stars for the shine
Ao3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/51159106
Words: 1053
Cws: Crying, a person you love romantically dying, blood, hinted suicidal thoughts, death game
Notes: The inherent homoerotic nature in wishing that you could go back in time to literally give another man your life.   (AU where Etho wins just for writing’s sake.)
Prompt: No. 27: “You drew stars around my scars; But now I’m bleeding.” Matches | Scars | “Let me see”
Etho lay back against the pillow, and his white hair spread out unevenly around him, crunching up against the fluff of his coat and tickling his ears like the dead petals of some winter bloom. His mask was down and off his face, but its choking grip felt like just a distant memory on his throat as he stared up at the ceiling.
Cobblestone and spruce wood, it was almost the most basic thing he could think of, but in this awful game, it was home. A cold home, sure, with walls of ice and snow in most parts of the fort, but home nonetheless. Or, at least, it had been.
Now, Bdubs was gone, and those cold cold walls felt colder than ever without the warmth of his love. Etho’s eyes stung as salty tears pricked at the corners of them, but his arms were still frozen at his sides. He couldn’t force himself to wipe away the tears.
He took in a shaky breath as the cloud of bloodlust spurred his emotions on and on. They’d come back from their deaths after the last “game,” but would they this time? Would he ever see Bdubs again? He’d had a chance to save him, why couldn’t he have done it when he’d had the chance? A simple pledge of a life, far simpler even than love, how could he have been so greedy?!
Like it always did in this awful game, the scar on his cheek burned, but the flow of tears made it hurt even more. If Bdubs were still here, he could have made him feel better. Bdubs would have traced along those scars. He would have drawn hearts, stars, and flowers with paint and dye. He’d have kissed his face. He’d have held his hand. He'd have whispered stories and memories into his ears. He’d have wiped the dreadful drip of red life blood.
Touching his scars should have hurt in this game, but it never had when Bdubs had done it. It had only ever been heartwarmingly loving. But now he was gone, and Etho’s agony stabbed through him even more. He curled his claws into his hands and his fangs sparked off the torchlight as his mouth yawned open in a sob.
Now he was in his red life, and that beautifully cared for scar dripped red blood into his pillow once more.
Bdubs was gone, maybe for good, but if Etho had just been a bit less selfish... If he'd have thought for even a second longer... They could have been together now, cuddling on his half cold bed, even as the rage of bloodlust burned in their eyes.
He regretted sending Bdubs away when he had first turned red. He regretted being so careless with the lives. He regretted not actually telling Bdubs those words, those words that meant I love you. He regretted not giving him his life when he could.
Oh why hadn't he done it?
Etho's scar burned, and his hand finally shot up to claw at his face, digging into the bleeding wound and tearing it open even further in a useless effort to stop the pain. He cried, and cried, and the blood leaked into his coat, his hair, and the pillow, staining the snow white surfaces a gorey red.
There was nothing he could do now but join him, was there. (Etho was so aware of that truth that it wasn't even a question anymore.)
“Oh no,” he moaned, sitting up and burying his face in his hands, “Why, why...”
He didn't want to have those kinds of thoughts, not now, not ever. He knew that, if he were still here, Bdubs would not have wanted him to be thinking that way. He knew that he would have kissed him on the forehead in that adorable dorky way and told him that everything was going to be okay. Just because it was a death game didn't mean they had to follow the rules, right? Just because the awful curse had chosen them once more didn't mean they couldn't save themselves from the ending, right? Bdubs loved him, he cared, he would have made everything better.
But Etho knew he wasn't there. He knew he was never going to be there again. He was gone like an autumn breeze in winter, gone like a falling feather in a hailstorm, gone like the stars in some polluted city sky.
He wasn't coming back.
Etho knew that.
He didn't want to, but he knew that.
He sat up, numbly swinging his legs over the side of the bed, just as he would have when Bdubs was still here. He stood slowly, and his ankle creaked like he was some old warrior waking up for another battle (which, he supposed, he was.)
He couldn't stay in this house much longer, not when it brought back memories like those that seemed to seep out from his scar, spider webbing across his face from how he had lay on the bed and dripping even into his ear when he stood. Memories and blood, what was the difference anymore. Both potent, both overpowering, both a sign of pain.
Maybe, as he whispered to himself, he didn't want to remember, but he knew that wasn't very likely.
How could he forget that gift that had been life with his love? How could he forget the amazing times they had spent together, even in a cursed land such as this?
Just because their very biology was infested by curses didn't mean they weren't still friends. Just because bloodlust clouded their eyes didn't mean that they had been any less in love with each other.
Etho had been willing to win this game together, never dying, never losing. He'd been willing to win for Bdubs too, some weak sort of apology for failing to help him, he supposed, but now...
Now he knew it wasn't enough.
He needed Bdubs.
He understood what Grian had done at the end of the last game now. He understood the way that awful guilt twisted your mind. Winning for Bdubs wasn't enough. He had to end it.
Etho slammed open the door.

7, 13, 18 for the writing aso game? - BYTES :3
7. Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
Hours later, when the embers of the fire faintly glow, when Iskall lies on his pallet to gaze up at the cloudless sky, he swears he can hear the faint sound of an instrument playing.
It’s quiet, carried by the wind, but he’s sure it’s Etho, somewhere across the cliff. The music is… he doesn’t know how to describe it. It’s home and it’s unknown, it’s old, somehow familiar, and yet a tune he could never recognize. The wind seems to carry the sounds on wings of air, around the area in a way no echo ever could.
If Iskall didn’t know better, he’d think that the grass stood taller and the trees twisted to follow the tune along its path. He’d also say… the path winds up to the stars, in a whimsical, curving way. As it reaches the stars, Iskall swears they shine brighter and with more life than any star should have had.
The universe is alive, and Iskall realizes he’s blessed to see a single breath of it.
(Somewhere close to the fire, barely illuminated, a single azure bluet grows. It’s not blossomed, but it’s there, new life given by the universe’s song.)
hmm. so this is from a fic i haven't finished--or really even started. it's going to be part of the etho universe concept i introduced in the team canada fic, and it's one of my favorite things i've ever written if only for the fact this is where the concept was born and i'm very very attached to this passage?
idk. it'll make more sense as i write more for it<3
13 is answered, but 18:
Do you use any tools, like worksheets or outlines?
HA. AHAHAHHAHA
i vaguely outline some of my fics in the most nonsensical disorganized thing ever and absolutely nothing else. i'll never forget letting mochi and stitch see one of them, i thought they were both going to keel over right there LMAO

Saw your post about sexism in the fandom made an account just to say that while the hermitcraft/empires community is generally kinder to its female CCs there is a concerning trend towards girlbossification (for lack of a better term) instead of the sister-racist dichotomy you mentioned. Even more noticeably feminine-presenting streamers are given the same sort of boyish appearance you discussed in regards to DSMP women, with the exception of ZombieCleo who has stated that they likes curvier portrayals of themself.
On the bright side, lore by female streamers in the community get far more attention from the community than for the DSMP from what I’ve seen. The amount of appreciation for 5AM Pearl and Cleo’s role in the series is refreshing. Personal bias speaking, but Cleo’s knack for roleplaying really shines in that series. The amount of content for groups or storylines that involve her such as Gaslight/Gatekeep/Girlboss, Fairy Fort, Divorce Quartet and Crastle (+Etho), while still less than that for those that involve more popular male CCs (ex. Team BEST especially BE, Dogwarts, Desert Duo - may be due to season 1 bias), makes me hopeful.
While M/F ships used to overshadow the female CCs themselves in the past (ex. Iskall/Stress, Joe/Cleo), it’s nice to see that female CC’s dynamic with their male counterparts is now treated with more respect (ex. Soup Group appreciation). The community does fixate a lot on M/M ships though.
All that to say, if you’re into dark or dry humor, check out ZombieCleo’s channel and aroaceacacia’s amazing art of her in Last Life. Sorry for the long word salad ask I think? I’m new to this site from Reddit so I don’t know the law of the land.
thanks for sending the hermit side of things! im not super familiar with it but ive seen enough of the fandom on here to suspect that you're right-- i also think hermitblr/hermit enjoyers generally have the benefit that there's more female ccs and less overall fame, so they see more women and have less of the trickle down effect from twitter & the general misogynistic gaming culture.
fanart is a hard one for any fandom because people are really bad at drawing anyone who isnt thin and white and a dude and often refuse to learn; im glad zombiecleo's stuck up for herself and told people off for drawing her skinny.
m/m shipping has always dominated fandom-- from the origins of slash fiction with star trek (yes, fandom pretty much began with star trek. any fic trope you can think of is from star trek) to voltron m/m is across the board more popular for the reasons i listed in my post. people are scared to depict women in genuine romantic and sexual relationships and more than that they often just don't care. glad to hear female ccs arent defined by their shipping dynamics though!
tbh if im ever gonna dip my toes into hc or any of the ccs itll probably be with cleo or pearl, so thank you for the rec! im hoping to watch a bit of empires soon (probably scott and shubble) so if anyone has recs for esmp as well lmk!

Bleach TYBW: Episode 3
March of the Star Cross is here! Excellent quality as usual. But let’s talk about the story.
By my knowledge, a key scene have been cut. And an extra scene have been added.
Spoiler Alert:
A manga scene between the vice-captains has been cut where they figure out and confront Nemu about Mayuri Kurotsuchi preemptively killing 28000 citizens from the outer districts of Rukongai in order to maintain the balance between the universe.
Instead, this scene seems to have been replaced with a conversation between Uryu and Ryuken (his father). Here Uryu discovers the truth of his mother’s death, along with the events that led to Quincy’s being killed. This scene between Uryu and his father doesn’t exist in the manga.
So I have few thoughts about it:
Ultimately, plot-wise, cutting the vice-captain scene doesn’t matter much. We pretty much rehash the plot point when the Captain Commander and Mayuri Kurotsuchi confront each other.
That said it does cut out character-building moments. We see a clear distinction between ethos of the 12th division and the rest. Kira especially gets a moment to shine and his dislike for lies and deceit is in full view. This is important as it highlights him before he gets killed by Bazz-B and then revived by Kurotsuchi.
The Uryu scene being added is very important as the manga never explains how exactly Uryu ended up joining the Sternritters.
Overall a great continuation since the first 2 episodes.

As these mirrors continue to illuminate homes across the country, their impact goes beyond mere reflection, shaping spaces and enhancing the way individuals interact with their surroundings. Whether for a modern bathroom or a chic living room, the LED mirror has secured its place as a shining star in Colombia's design narrative.

Showtime Sports Announces Bonded By Ball: Inside The Obl, A Documentary Series Chronicling OBL
Tumblr media
SHOWTIME Basketball announces BONDED BY BALL: INSIDE THE OBL, a four-part documentary series chronicling the inaugural season of the Ones Basketball League (OBL). All four episodes of the series premiere consecutively on SHOWTIME EXTREME starting at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Friday, July 28, and all episodes will be available on demand and on streaming for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers on the day of premiere.
Founded in 2022 by seven-time NBA All-Star and Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady and award-winning sports business executive and entrepreneur Jeffrey Pollack, OBL is an elite one-on-one competition series designed to discover and spotlight the best one-on-one players around the world and celebrate the competitive spirit of basketball.
“BONDED BY BALL takes you on a journey with incredible athletes you haven't met before and also gives some insight into my life story,” McGrady said. “When I look at these players, I know how it feels to be overlooked and undervalued. When an opportunity is given, what are you going to do with it? These guys are out to prove something, and we are proud to bring their stories to a larger audience for the first time.”
“Tracy and the OBL fit the ethos of SHOWTIME Basketball, and BONDED BY BALL is a reflection of the type of boundary-pushing and innovative content we strive to create,” said Brian Dailey, SVP, Sports Programming & Content at SHOWTIME. “If you look at our roster, it’s full of Hall of Famers and champions who are open to sharing their experiences, just as Tracy has with this league and through this series.”
The documentary series is an intimate look at the league’s three-month tour across the U.S. during its 2022 season, highlighting competitions in Houston, Brooklyn, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The series, guided by McGrady, reveals the compelling and often heartbreaking stories of the star players. By uncovering each athlete’s unique personality, determination, style and circumstances, the series is an in-depth exposé on the collective joy and disappointment that comes with both basketball and life.
“One-on-one is the essence of basketball and Tracy’s vision for the game opens up a new world of storytelling," said Pollack. "We are creating a unique stage for amazing athletes who deserve a chance to shine in the spotlight and our ultimate ambition is global. Fans can be with us at the start, enjoy a behind-the-scenes look and get closer to Tracy thanks to SHOWTIME.”
In each of the cities on the tour, 32 players compete for a chance to win $10,000. The winner in each city takes home the cash prize, and the top three players from each city earn a spot in the OBL Finals in Las Vegas and the opportunity to compete for the grand prize of $250,000.
The featured competitors include:
George Beamon, Roslyn, N.Y./Manhattan College (Los Angeles Winner) 31, co-captain and two-time First Team All-MAAC at Manhattan College. He averaged 18.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in 2013-14 after a season-ending injury the previous year. Won OBL Los Angeles Regional to claim the $10,000 prize and qualify for OBL Finals.
Isaiah Brown, Queens, N.Y./SUNY Potsdam (New York Winner) 25, nicknamed “Leaky Roof,” played at SUNY Potsdam. The sharpshooting lefty averaged 24.2 points per game in 2019-20 at Potsdam after transferring from Missouri State-West Plains. Won OBL New York Regional to claim the $10,000 prize and qualify for OBL Finals.
John Jordan, Houston/TAMU-Corpus Christi (Houston Winner) 29, arrived from Romania just in time to compete in the OBL. He’s one of the most decorated players in Texas A&M-Corpus Christi history, totaling more than 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists in his TAMU-CC Athletics Hall of Fame career. He played overseas and in the G-League, where he won the dunk contest in 2017. Won the OBL Houston Regional to claim the $10,000 prize and qualify for OBL Finals.
Matt Kiatipis, Newmarket, Ontario/Simon Fraser University (Houston Runner-Up) 21, played a year for Simon Fraser University in his native Canada. He then turned his focus to other basketball pursuits, including a strong social media presence, park takeovers and dunk videos. The youngest OBL Finals qualifier, “M.K.” took second in the Houston Regional.
Kevin Kuteyi, Lanham, Md./Gannon University and Chowan University (DMV Winner) 29, had one of the more vocal rooting sections at The St. James. In two collegiate seasons, one at Gannon University and one at Chowan University, he averaged 12 points per game and shot 40% from deep. “Uncle Skoob” came into the OBL DMV Regional as the No. 8 seed and had to win a play-in to get into the quarterfinals. Won the OBL DMV Regional to claim the $10,000 prize and qualify for OBL Finals.
“When you see that pain I’m putting in, it’s because I missed out on an opportunity,” OBL finalist George Beamon expresses in BONDED BY BALL: INSIDE THE OBL. “I want to get that breakout that I should’ve got. That ain’t stopping me. It’s motivating me.”
Beamon is not alone. The OBL is designed to create opportunities for gifted athletes who can earn a chance to shine on a national stage. McGrady’s devotion to nurturing and motivating the hundreds of players in the OBL comes from a shared place of perseverance and dedication.
BONDED BY BALL: INSIDE THE OBL is co-directed by Eric W. Newman and Rashad Floyd, and executive produced by Stephen Espinoza, Dailey, Newman, McGrady, Pollack and Elissa Grabow. Newman also directed and produced SHOWTIME documentaries KEVIN GARNETT: ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE and BE NOW: INSIDE THE 2022 IVERSON CLASSIC, and the show ALL THE SMOKE WITH MATT BARNES AND STEPHEN JACKSON.
This documentary series adds to the award-winning rolodex of documentaries and docuseries from SHOWTIME Basketball, including GOLIATH, STAND, Kevin Durant’s NYC POINT GODS, LeBron James’ SHUT UP AND DRIBBLE, KOBE BRYANT’S MUSE, QUIET STORM: THE RON ARTEST STORY, PASSION PLAY: RUSSELL WESTBROOK and KEVIN GARNETT: ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. SHOWTIME Basketball is also comprised of shows including ALL THE SMOKE WITH MATT BARNES & STEPHEN JACKSON, KG CERTIFIED WITH KEVIN GARNETT, TICKET & THE TRUTH, WHAT’S BURNIN’ hosted by Rachel Nichols, HEADLINERS WITH RACHEL NICHOLS and THE ARIEL HELWANI BASKETBALL SHOW.
