I’m still in awe about the scene where the asl brothers were shouting out their dreams and how every time I rewatched this scene I always questioned just why they cut out the part where luffy says his because it’s not exactly a secret. He’s been shouting out that he wanted to be the pirate king since the very beginning of the series, it’s literally his catchphrase!!

For 12 years I questioned that scene! But never once did it cross my mind that it was done because luffy actually has a different dream, and becoming the pirate king was only an ends to a mean to reach it and I was SO blown away to learn this almost 400+ chapters later when this was first HINTED at, never mind that it took 1000+ chapters to even learn he has a dream that isn’t becoming the pirate king (and we still don’t know what it is!!)

like i was joking with my bf about how i dont understand when ppl say it took them months to get thru a novel cause ive always only ever been able to marathon hyperfixate read. like 3 sittings maximum no matter the length of the book. i will do nothing not even eat if need be. and he was like "itd be impossible to even comprehend all that- you dont even take notes!"

i will say its an interesting choice to take brian irons (a corrupt police chief who takes bribes from corporations and wants to have control over his city and police station, who is also a serial killer and sexual assaulter) and have him tie up, physically beat a 19 year old girl while holding her at gunpoint and kidnap a 12 year old for no apparent reason, when in the original game he didnt give a shit about claire OR sherry (or her pendant) and just wanted power and control over his police station because it was all he had left

Alright, my Amazing Digital Circus hot-off-the-presses theory is that there is no escape. They're stuck in there forever because there's no where else for them to go.

We see the computer that houses the circus, and the headset that Pomni describes having worn before showing up there. Conspicuously missing is the actual body of Pomni. Or anyone else, for that matter. The implication SEEMS to be that this machine houses the entire circus, rather than this being an online experience hosted on a server. What I'm saying is this seems like less of a Sword Art Online experience and more of a Soma one. I think that headset takes a brain scan of whoever wears it and downloads a digital version of their consciousness.

It makes the reveal of the sheer number of people who have "abstracted" and completely lost themselves make more sense to me. You'd think the authorities would hear about it if a ton of people went missing, or went insane, or went completely brain-dead while wearing these headsets. But if the people out in the real world are completely fine and continue living their normal lives, then who cares about the endless suffering of their digital counterparts?

It also makes the entire concept of a consciousness abstracting make more sense to me if characters are coded onto the machine rather than hosted by an actual living brain. A character who "goes insane" and has corruptions and aberrations in their code could start glitching like that.

So yeah that's my hot take. An exit can't take them anywhere because there's nowhere else to go. There is only circus.

goes the opposite way too. if something makes its way through the entire editing process and is published, then its part of canon. once again not talking about little things like a character in a comic having six fingers in a panel, but actual writing choices, things about the character or plot. if a character Says something, then they said it. even if the creator goes "oh my bad that was a mistake". especially if to find out it was a mistake you have to actively search it up to realise it was a mistake

feeling a bit miffed and frustrated.. just had a simultaneous spanish interpreting class and we had to go into the booths and just. sim interpret from spanish to english. but i have not used the booths before, nor have i done any kind of simultaneous practice. i feel like my classmates have all done like english speech shadowing in lesson to practice. but i haven't done that. my sim lessons have been sight translation and memory exercises. so of course i fucked most of it up where others didn't. and i just kind of feel like an idiot who is onthe wrong fucking course. basically.
