so ***I think*** I am going to riff off the baby shower and do a twist on breeding kink - but since I don't think Penelope and Luke at this point in the story want to do anything even remotely "domestic" and I don't feel like getting into the whole baby/pregnancy thing - I'm thinking something mixed with some type of cos play.... so for the 4 people who care...
Anyone have any strong opinions about whether we more excited about Luke / S15 Penelope experimenting with pretending to be mating unicorns (yes I know there is a whole horse play sub-set of kink which can be - pun intended - tapped) or centaurs or mer people or something else along the furry spectrum? (not cats - I've already hinted at sexy feline stuff in other stories)
Other options - we could do something like dragons or dinosaurs... the egg and nest thing is vaguely interesting.. but we did just do a bit of dragons in the last one...so it might be good or it might be repetitive.
I'm also ok with hearing about if any of the above really does not appeal to you. I know none of this is super original (you just have to look at the fantasy / sci fi section of literotica to know that) but I thought it might be fun for these two.

hey do you have any thoughts abt dee + waitress in s15? I feel like there’s something there that I’m not picking up on but you might have thoughts on lol
Oh boy DO I anon!!!!
I’ve already pointed out before how s15 brought s5’s “cat in the wall” metaphor full circle, wherein s5 the "cat" (dennis) goes into the "wall" (closet) then comes OUT of the wall in s15 ep07 (“i'm sure he’ll come out at some point ... Got himself in there… I'm sure he’ll get himself out”) but then in that same s15 episode (s15 ep07), Dee gets the Waitress stuck after Dennis comes out of the wall.. So basically what I inferred from that is that Mac/Dennis’ whole long-ass slow burn “will-they-wont-they” is about to get some resolution onscreen soon, since it felt like that was one of the storylines being toyed with and pitched in s12-s14… and while s15 was setting up for that kind of arc they pitched to have some actual PAYOFF in the future, that may mean that after that will-they-wont-they gets resolved, they’ll need a new one: and that’s where Dee/Waitress come in... I believe that since Dee gets Waitress stuck in the bog at the end, this is basically the Cat in The Wall metaphor from "Break Up" rebooted but for Waitress/Dee (since also the breaking up plot beats are echoed in 15x07 by Frank/Charlie's tense arc in that episode) now instead of Mac/Dennis.
My theory here also has threads that began in “Frank’s Pretty Woman" since threads from that episode were brought up again in "Gets Romantic"... in s14 as a whole actually, Dee is clearly struggling with being alone more and more as the show progresses. She needs a sidekick, as Frank n Charlie said at the end of "Mac & Dennis Break Up"... And in s15 they were talkin abt how they needed someone else to work at the bar... so why not Waitress? yknow... <3
Now another reason why I think this is actually a possible plot line and not just totally out of the question is because back in 2018, there was talk about a pilot (entitled “Mean Jean” on IMDB) being developed by Rob McElhenney and Rob Rosell which centered around a lesbian couple. Now, the reason why this is interesting to me is because 1. Rob Rosell had stopped working on Sunny after s10.. but he came BACK for s15 where this deetress stuff really picked back up to me and 2. One of the characters in the couple was supposed to be played by Kaitlin (named “Birdie” lol) so uh… I just have a bit of a HUNCH here ok.. .

That being said, I am a big pattern-seeker and could 100% just be seeing what I want to see rather than picking up on any real hints here so keep that in mind. rcg may very well have no fuckin clue about any of this n never intended it LOLL. So as always take what I'm saying with a big grain of salt... I just think it'd be pretty cool if that was the direction they were going in so its fun to entertain the possibility. Tbh even if there was a plotline between Dee/Waitress that wasn't romantic, I'd still personally love to see Waitress become part of the main cast and move in with Dee or smth...
Cuz again the subtext of that s15 Bog plotline to me was that she has gotten so sucked into the gang's bullshit despite her best efforts to escape them that she'd probably fit right in with 'em.

this is unusually negative for me so pls feel free to avoid this post if you want but ...
im honestly not a huge fan of the new rvb season & especially not that arc about the gods at all. i think the gods are cliche and just?? corny and weird? i dont get why theyre bringing this in now i think theres still stuff that could be done w freelancers (and everyone loves freelancers) & honestly focusing on jax and his movie or wash and his brain and stuff would be enough i dont think we need this weird subplot of the gods. i think the time travel is ok at best? and can be done interestingly but rn even thats a bit... much and i sometimes get worried that red vs blue is not having nearly as much focus on its show and they’re just trying to make more episodes just because, and not for any good purpose

To celebrate the DeanCas100k on ao3 here's a list of my all-time favourite Destiel fanfictions:
CANON VERSE
A turn of the earth Dean’s your typical half-orphaned, monster-killing 22-year-old until a trenchcoated stranger crashes into his back windshield one September night, claiming he’s an angel that knows him from the future and that he’s on the run.
Early seasons!Dean keeps meeting Cas at the most random moments, till he isn’t anymore... Definetly a must read.
In the shadow of your wings
Set after the S11 finale. Dean kinda breaks Cas’ heart. Because sometimes he can be thick SOB. The Cas finds a new shiny and witty italian boyfriend and Dean’s not happy about it. and now Sam is missing, Mary is back and Dean has a mixed bag of feelings he has to deal with. Probably my favorite canonverse ever.
Like moses and batman and James Dean dean used to turn tricks. over a decade later, he met cas.
A masterpiece in characterization by saltyfeathers. I loved everything, The dialogues, the flashbacks, the way Dean and Cas emotions are portrayed. There’s angst and internalized homophobia but also confort and IT IS JUST SO GOOD OK?
The best bang for your buck It’s not like Castiel knows who this GotImpala67 person is. There’s no personal information listed on their profile. Except that they’re male, thirty-seven, from Kansas and, apparently, they like inserting things inside themselves.
Cas plays dumb even tho he really is not and I love him for it. Dean is the kind of buyer who leaves detailed reviews of the products he buys (which is the best kind if you ask me) I love the writer’s style and their sense of humor. It’s short although I never get tired of re-reading this one. Also Bring up the deep & Till the juice runs from the same author are with mentioning.
Kisses by sunflowers beds by fanforfanatics & Watched by K_K_TiBal
This two fics have a on thing in common: At the end of both you’ll be asking yourself how can less than 5k hurt you so much?
I cried, then I smiled and cried some more. This fics will crush you in the best way possible.
Take me home country roads The most IC Deamon!Dean I’ve ever read. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions.
What’s missing is found (our souls can exhale now) by sobsicles aka queen of post S15 fix-it fics
That black dog ache A simple case turns Dean upside down as he attempts to deal with the effects of a particularly strange love spell.
The perfect gift Castiel has a big problem concerning Dean... thankfully, Sam is always around to help
Really short Crack!Fic about Cas being clueless and adorable.
So says the sword by komodobits
Actually I suggest to go on their ao3 profile and read EVERYTHING.
The profet must die
Dean starts reading Chuck’s book out of curiosity and ends up having a epiphany about his apparently not so much platonic relationship with a certain angel of the lord.
A room of one’s own All Dean wants is a little privacy. Cas doesn't understand.
It mostly smut with a bit of healthy angst and great amount of humor.
My Roots Take Flight After forty years in Hell, Dean’s more than willing to accept the offer: become a guardian angel and earn his freedom. But his new ward seems destined to hunt alongside Sam, and there are secrets in Heaven that the angels don’t want found out. Dean’s going to have to choose between his duty and the people he loves- and to work out just where Castiel fits in.
Reverse!Verse set in season 4. It’s interesting to watch their relationship develop even if the roles are reversed.
The hands that bind me Dean is struggling with adjusting back into the civilized world after a year of fighting for his life in Purgatory. He's going to need some angelic assistance reining in his darker impulses.
If your’re into BDSM/Sub!Dean/Dom!Cas/Hurt/Confort/Dark themes then that’s the fic for you.
What has eight tentacles and isn’t allowed to eat pie? Dean is an octopus 🐙 and it’s weird but also kinda sweet.
Cuckoo and nest For a long time, Castiel thought that every earthly possession other than the immediately necessary was excess to requirement. But Dean – Dean who named his car, who keeps a photograph of his mother in his wallet, some thirty-plus years after her death, who still has the crumpled ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign with a sleeping pelican emblazoned on it from the Microtel outside of Roanoke where he first kissed Castiel, clumsy and unsure, under the unsteady fluorescence of an exhausted bathroom bulb – is sentimental. it puzzles Castiel, where Dean draws the line between what is meaningful and what it is worthless.
Established relationship/ they’re really bad at communication/ fluff / hurt confort
Put up your dukes Dean can't sleep. Cas offers to tire him out.
Along my restless palms Ever since Cas started staying in the bunker, Dean’s been having these crazy dreams—dreams that feature him and Cas in absurd, tawdry scenarios like something out of a filthy paperback. Dean chalks it up to exhaustion, or some monster messing with his head, anything to ignore the real cause: Cas in his personal space, in various states of undress, and, wow, way more muscular than Dean would’ve expected. But if it’s just physical lust that’s the cause, then that’s an easy fix, right? No big deal. There’s definitely nothing else that his subconscious is trying to tell him. Absolutely not.
last but not least Pretty much anything by xylodemon. The atmosphere and the way characters are portrayed are *chef kiss* There are a lor of case fics and they really feels like actual episodes from supernatural just way less omophobic and more fun.

This shit is fake bby!!!
Here she is.. My masterpost of all the dumb, illogical bits of info contained within these s15 “leaks” that make me fairly confident they are complete bullshit. It also includes my little tinhat theories that have absolutely no evidence.
I will be putting it all under a Readmore in case you don't want to risk it or if you simply Do Not Care
First up, I'd like to point out that these call sheets repeatedly give very detailed backstories to characters that have few lines which conveniently paints a picture of each episode's plot. And I'm not an expert so correct me if I'm wrong, but after looking at other similar casting calls, they only ever include the demographic and necessary skills.
Basically who in their right mind would write up casting calls that give away so many spoilers? Seems like that could cause and issue if they were leaked lol. But anyway that's my 1st point. But onto the actual content
Tumblr media
So the conceit of this episode as a whole is that during the pandemic, the gang "gamed the system" and received three (3!) Loans to start businesses that went bankrupt. One of these businesses is implied to be the one started by dee and charlie who end up selling to Qanon shaman. Already this is so impossible baby.
1. We've already seen the gang try to get a loan and it didn't work. They don't have good ideas. Ur telling me, they managed to finagle 3 separate loans for 3 separate business ideas from an actual bank?
2. Maybe I just have bad reading comprehension but how does one have a business that is both fictitious and bankrupt?
3. If the customer is supposed to be Qanon shaman, an actual real life guy, why are the only descriptors white and male? They say he's shirtless so are they going to paint on all of the tattoos he has? And if so, doesn't that kind of ruin the dramatic reveal when charlie "throws in" the viking helmet? Why would he do that anyways? Sus.
Moving on
Tumblr media
Alright this episode would fucking blow for obvious reasons but im going to refrain from looking at this through my gay dennis thruther lens because im biased.
Purely from a narrative standpoint, a woman hasn't been shown to be interested in dennis in nearly 5 years during the wade boggs episode. Ever since, every single woman he approaches has been actively creeped out by him. And now I'm supposed to believe that 3 "smart, passionate woman" (In Their Twenties!!!!!!) agreed to go on a date with him? And Anna even slept with him! Just because he what? Agreed with her? I'm not buyin it.
Plus the concept of this scenario lacks any potential for comedy. When iasip gets political, they always discuss a very specific topic using hyperbolic situations and flawed metaphors. If this is supposed to be a political episode, what ultimately lukewarm point would rob be trying to make here? So far we know they're ranting about
The patriarchy
Privilege
Socialism
No more personal responsibility(?)
The... nature of power in society(??)
How on earth would an episode like get approved? This shit sounds like a Ted talk. It sounds like it was written specifically to sound like a political episode so boring and pointless it would generate outrage and mile long essay posts from Tumblr users and reddit users alike. Almost like this one lol.
On a completely unrelated note, do not try and convince me that Frank "casual cock ring wearer" Reynolds is unable to perform.
Jeez this is getting out of hand fast. Let's move on
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok now we're starting to getting into the Ireland of it all. Let me go on a bit of a tangent here about all this.. Now I thinq there are just 3 possibilities. Either this is all a publicity stunt and there is some truth to the Ireland rumors, the entire thing could be bogus from some weirdo fan (ps, if a fan did write this I want you to know I fucking hate you. You did this to me), or it is a publicity stunt but Ireland is just more bullshit.
I am going to assume it was a publicity stunt, otherwise I just wasted my entire evening and I can't have that kind of mentality rn. Additionally, I'm Going to tinhat here for a second and say that the Ireland rumors are true, but the details are different.
I say this because if they were going to do filming in Ireland, they probably figured that that information would be impossible to hide. In essence, my completely unfounded hypothesis is that this leak was their fucked up little way of controlling the situation while simultaneously messing with us.
Ok tangent is over, returning to the casting calls. From the looks of it, dee starts a "scam" acting class and has some very devoted students (Note that Tony was also the name of the porn shop owner. Seems weird!) Presumably after the gang replaces her with a monkey as the title suggests.
Honestly, there isn't too much here that's a red flag to me... seems like a nice little dee-centric episode that is the link to the Dublin angle. Assuming I am At All right, this could be a genuine plotline for Dee. However, the monkey could be a red herring and there could be a whole different side plot with the guys. who's to say. Next one!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah yes this is the dennis we all know and despise.. no red flags for me here really, I'm also running out of steam because idk if it shows, but I am majorly sleep deprived atm. Anyway I'm going to the next one
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay this is where things start getting weird again ough a migraine just hit, anyway back to my earlier point about how casting calls would never contains major spoilers bc the people who see these wont be under any kind of NDA..
These ones reveal that bonnie dies. Again, that info wouldn't be in a casting call.
But also they suggest charlie has a irish penpal named Shelley who is his biological father. First off charlie is illiterate, although as pointed out by @undeadbreeze shelley could also be communicating in symbols. However, this scenario is still unbelievable to me for a couple reasons:
1. Bonnie's last name is Kelly obviously, and we know it's her maiden name because Jack's last name is also Kelly. But Shelley's last name is... also Kelly? In the context of this big ol hoax, it feels like it was written to show that look! his last name is the same as charlie's! That's how you know that's his dad! But It would be way too big of a coincidence if charlie's dad happened to have the same last name bonnie.
And 2. There's the whole mystery of charlie's long-lost sister from 'charlie got molested' but never any mention of a brother which according to this, shelley has been pretending to be his brother for years. And we all know how much rcg loves their continuity, it seems uncharacteristically lazy to just tack this on without any prior buildup.
And finally let me talk about mac for a second and specifically the line in gus's summary "both are gay men who are attracted to the priesthood for all the wrong reasons"
Iasip has commented on pedophilia in the priesthood many times in the past which leads me to believe that they are implying that mac is a pedophile? Please let me know if I completely misread the implications of that statement, but if not, then that is completely insane and one of the biggest indictators that this is fake. Mac is awful, just like everyone in the gang but he is definitely not a pedophile.
However even if i did completely misread that, it's still proof this is fake.. For all his faults, Rob put a surprising amount of care and effort into mac's coming-out. It hasn't been perfect, but Mfhp in particular firmly established that mac's faith is integral to his identity so Its unlikely that rob would throw all of that away for a cheap shot at priests.
Ok my brain is irradiated sludge at this point, but in conclusion. I hope that 1. I'm right, at least about it being fake (Otherwise damb that'll be so humiliating for me) And 2. This eases ur fears a bit. I don't want to lose all faith in future seasons bc I love iasip and miss the gang. If you read this far youre insane but I literally love you so goddamn much because I spent so so long tapping this out on my silly little phone
Please feel free to add on or message me your thoughts and opinions I need to know I'm not the only one who uhhh went a bit insane. And finally: whoever made these is a cunt. Mwah.

hi i'm trying to keep up on spn fandom drama without actually watching the 6 seasons I don't care enough to watch so could you tell me what on earth "why lamp" means? tysm
ok so this is a long one.
so the way i see it there are three major pieces of evidence, in the last two seasons, that dean is going to reciprocate.
i’m not talking about like, evidence that i would use as a textual analyst if the author was dead: if i use everything that looks to ME like dean being queer then i would have mountains. i’m talking three pieces of evidence which i am absolutely convinced were intentional on the part of the people who write the show, meaning that they suggest deancas might actually go canon officially.
that’s also why i’m only counting the last two seasons; cas made his deal with the empty in early season fourteen and it was definitely intended to come off as romantic. why do i know this? because it has the same goddamn terms and even wording as angel’s curse from buffy: angel experiences “one moment of true happiness” and he loses his soul, cas experiences “one moment where he is truly happy” and he dies. on buffy, angel’s true happiness is..... well.......... sex with buffy. so when i heard the deal i was like hm. at the time i thought they were just fanservice/easter egging me, but now i know better: they intended that. so i think mr. dabb has been planning deancas endgame since at least them lol. i’m pretty sure they knew the show was ending at that point so they could do it.
anyway the first piece of evidence is dean’s michael fantasy in 14x10. this is imo the second strongest. in it, he’s a bartender, accompanied only by a woman he can never sleep with because she has a boyfriend. they flirt endlessly, and she comments “how come you only want what you can’t have” which is a mirror for what cas says in his confession: “the one thing i want, it’s something i know i can’t have.” she also later comments “besides, you don’t want me, you just like to flirt. i’m psychic, i know.” suggesting that dean is faking his interest in her, which could be normal but reads to me as intentionally suggestive that he’s either uninterested in women or simply hung up on someone else. like “dean pretends to be interested in women to show off his flirting game and flex his dudeness muscles” is a subtext that’s present in a huge amount of the show; like, there are a few female love interests he has chemistry with, but mostly his sexcapades read like i-need-to-prove-i’m-manly bedframe notching or showing off for his buddies. this is even explicit-ish a couple of times, like i said in this post here. but they’ve never explicitly pointed it out in words i don’t think. and like. “pretending heterosexuality” is pretty queer lmao (even if dean is bi he’s still faking ultrastraightness to prove he’s manly/straight).
also, it’s weird as hell that they picked pamela barnes for that scene. she never had a particularly close connection with the boys or anything, why not someone else? but she’s 1) psychic, so she can say that line about dean not wanting her, and 2) much more importantly, she’s intimately associated with cas. like, she first appears in lazarus rising, and she’s the one who gets her eyes burned out looking at cas’ true face. like that’s her biggest deal: Woman Who Got Her Eyes Burned Out To Show How Dangerous Cas Is. and then she died off pretty quickly because she was a woman on spn s4.
also, in the scene, she wears an angel wing necklace and a shirt that says “to hell and back” (pointed out to me in the same post). plus the guy who wrote the episode also wrote lily sunder has some regrets which i hope we can all agree is an ICONIC destiel episode.
the second piece of evidence is the purgatory confession in 15x09. this is the strongest evidence. i don’t really have much to say about it because it’s so blatant? like, when i first saw it, i was literally like “this is intentional deancas fanservice jesus christ.” like i lean towards generally interpreting deancas stuff as an accident on the part of straight writers and the purgatory thing did not feel accidental to me. and then cas cuts dean off at the end of the confession, before dean can say some final thing, and dean looks devastated, and then we never find out what the final thing was. like, it’s pretty blatant.
the third piece of evidence is the lamp dance. this is the weakest of the three. basically, dean has a dream sequence in 15x10 where he dances romantically with a lamp. given that one of the things that’s going on in 15x10 is that dean is realizing that he could be allowed to have domestic bliss, the apple pie life, and still be a hunter. the dance with the lamp does kind of come off like it’s implying that there is a partner shaped hole in his life. he has no female love interest in s15 and he hasn’t for years. here is a really cool, if way too smart for spn, piece of meta about it, and here’s another which is less cool but acknowledges that spn is dumb and doesn’t think that hard and is therefore imo more correct. also, andrew dabb himself wrote the lamp dance episode, which makes it stronger evidence than it would be otherwise imo.
anyway when i was Feeling the Madness on saturday, i decided to make this joke post based on the format of that one alvin and the chipmunks meme, you know, “if women are oppressed then why ___” (i would not suggest looking at it on my actual blog because tragically that breaks the format, open it in dash). i was basically using the lamp dance as slightly-ridiculous synecdoche for all three of these pieces of evidence because it’s the weakest.
then later that day, because i treat my blog as a deeply self-referential internal monologue, i made this post documenting the madness i was experiencing, and i ended it with “then WHY LAMP” as a reference to my earlier post. that one got popular, and now “why lamp” is a common way to refer to the lamp dance meta.

So I watched SPN for years, right up until the end of S11, when they brought back Mary. I heard that S15 would be the last season, and I was like ‘oh ok I’ll rewatch (for like the 8th time) and finish SPN then’ BUT THEN 15x18 happened and I was violently pulled back into the SPN fandom. I still haven’t caught up fully watching yet, but I’ve read so much discourse now...and I have thoughts. Hypotheses currently. I’ll wait to finish the whole show for real to call any of this theories but, I wanted to record my thoughts.
They’re about Chuck. As a villain. Which weirds me out. As an antagonist? Sure. As evil? No. Can’t envision it. I just finished my rewatch of S5 and, damn, but if Chuck is the ultimate villain, S5 reads very differently. :0
But I recently saw a post comparing Dean’s reaction in 1x18 (I believe) to his in 10x05 (for sure) about when someone mentions his mother’s death. In 1x18, it’s Sam when they were children and Dean gets angry. In 10x05, it’s a group of high school girls and Dean just bops his head along to the song. The post was framing it as 10x05 not understanding Dean’s thoughts about his mother, but I think that both episodes understand Dean. When Dean is a child, the trauma over his mother’s murder is still fresh. By 10x05, the event is 70 years in the past. Of course it still affects Dean. Of course. You never really get over something like that. But I’d argue that after 70 years, Dean has moved through the stages of grief to acceptance. It still hurts, but like an old ache, not a fresh, still-bleeding wound.
Interestingly, 10x05 is when we see Chuck, after a long absence. He’s watching the play, probably happy that someone loves his work enough to even make a musical, but he is also watching the Winchesters. The actual episodes of the show, aka the books Chuck writes, are what Chuck knows/cares about regarding the Winchesters. Despite being God, I’d argue he doesn’t pay attention to every second and all the little minutia of the boys’ lives. So, here in 10x05, we have confirmation that Chuck is around to see that Dean has healed from his mother’s death.
Later, in S11, Dean acts as therapist/life counsellor to Chuck/God, regarding Amara and Lucifer. And it works! Dean teaches God about family and about healing. Why does God listen to Dean Winchester, a random human? Perhaps it is because of S1-5. Perhaps it is because Dean and Sam were part of God’s test, as God himself describes it in 5x22.
What was the test? Was it God’s experiment about choice and free will? About freedom vs peace? Or, perhaps, was God trying to understand sibling relationships? He and Amara are two faces of the same coin. They are siblings, but with very different outlooks and it caused a rift between them, caused Chuck to seal Amara away before she could destroy his creations. Chuck regretted this, but saw it as a necessary betrayal. But then, some time later, Chuck’s angelic children experience their own betrayal and sibling rift. Lucifer tries to turn the angels against God, rebel and reject God. He makes demons, for sure, and maybe even Hell. But why? God figures that Lucifer was maybe jealous of the new baby (humans) like others in the show postulates. Or maybe Lucifer had beef specifically with Michael, because humans are little more than amoebas from an angelic perspective. Aside from Castiel, Anna and a handful of other angels, angels consistently view humans as humans might view dust mites. Maybe humans were the cause of the rift between Michael and Lucifer, but it was Michael and Lucifer’s relationship that needed fixing in the end, regardless.
So God is left with the sad conclusion that maybe close siblings will inevitably betray each other and be unable to forgive and heal. He wants to heal with Amara. But he also wants Michael and Lucifer to be able to heal. (It doesn’t occur to God that maybe Lucifer’s problem was never with humanity or Michael; it was with God.)
So God has research to do, to see if it’s possible for siblings to experience such deep betrayal and still heal. He turns to his little hairless apes, the only sentient species on Earth with potential to parallel the angels. He starts testing siblings. Cain and Abel are first up. Needless to say, but the betrayal was too strong and left no room for healing. But on down the line of Cain, God continues testing. Eventually, we come to Sam and Dean.
God has scheduled Michael and Lucifer’s family counselling session for 2010. All the data up to this point says it can only end badly. Maybe it’ll half-kill the Earth, but it’s finally time for Michael and Lucifer to meet and for one of them to die. God isn’t happy about this conclusion, but it’s what the data says. So, finally, the last test subjects, the last in the line who will be the vessels for Michael and Lucifer’s showdown, arrive. Sam and Dean Winchester are to be the last sibling test. The conclusion seems foregone at this point, but there is no point in cancelling the last bit of the test after so long, so it continues. God watches. And Sam and Dean surprise God. Siblings after siblings had failed for millennia to heal. Betrayals too strong, healing too little, too late. But Sam and Dean. no matter how badly they hurt each other, find a way to come back together and heal. They don’t give up on each other, despite millennia of data to the contrary. Still, the angels and demons push and push at Sam and Dean until their rift is as wide and as deep as Michael and Lucifer’s, as God’s and Amara’s (in late S4). It seems, despite the brothers’ best efforts earlier on, it’s all for naught.
But there is a further element of randomness, something God couldn’t foresee. Castiel. God hasn’t had occasion for romantic love in his own experience, so he is entirely blind to what choices Castiel is likely to make. He provides an element of randomness to the experiment, an essential part that gives Dean the ultimate chance to go back to Sam and begin to heal (4x22).
Throughout S5, Sam and Dean heal. There is hurt, still, of course, but they love each other and forgive each other. By 5x22, they’ve surprised everyone. Even the angels have given up on turning them against each other, and have shrugged and settled for using Nick and Adam as the vessels for the showdown. Sam and Dean passed their test. They were siblings who betrayed each other and healed from it. God reconsiders how family counselling will go with Michael and Lucifer. He figured it would be the Apocalypse, the end of the problems between Michael and Lucifer, as one of them dies, as had always happened before. But, Sam and Dean showed God, that though it is rare, it is possible to heal. So God gives Sam and Dean an out. He gives Sam the strength to seize back control from Lucifer, should things go south.
Finally, the showdown arrives. Michael and Lucifer meet. They talk things out. To God’s surprise, Lucifer reveals that he never had a problem with Michael. He had forgiven Michael long ago. But Michael couldn’t forgive Lucifer. He had to be a ‘good son’ and do what he thought God wanted him to do. But Michael didn’t realise, that God doesn’t give orders. Free will all the way, baby! But the whole thing comes as a surprise. Apparently, all this time, the problem relationship wasn’t siblings, it was parents.
Oops.
Good thing God had a back-up plan.
Sam throws himself and Lucifer (and Michael and Adam) into the Cage. Michael and Lucifer have an eternity to figure things out between each other now. But that’s beside the point. The point is, now, that God has to start testing all over again. Not how to fix sibling relationships, but how to fix parent-child relationships.
God restores Castiel, perhaps for a few reasons because God exists outside of time, but originally it may have been just for one. He likes Castiel. He is impressed that Castiel invented free will for himself, broke free of angelic programming (multiple times over), and did it all for love. It’s novel. It’s interesting. God might even think it’s sweet. But God has had time later, and thought about it, and he has a plan. And Castiel is essential.
But Dean Winchester is the key.
Sam and Dean’s relationship with their own father has been strained, but both boys find a way to forgive John his flaws and failings, and love him. Whenever they do get a chance to see him again, post his death, they don’t hate him. They’ve healed. John’s relationship with Sam and Dean is one point of data, Abraham and Isaac another. There are many data points that God can reflect back on and consider.
But as S6 through S10 roll on, God watches Sam and Dean and Castiel. He even watches Crowley and Rowena for another data point. Dean is his main focus, however. (This is a little meta, but as the story focuses more on Dean than Sam post S5, it ties in. Prior to S6, both Sam and Dean were essential - the sibling test. Now, post S5, the parent test, Dean is the most essential. Of course, Sam and Castiel are important too. But Dean is key.)
Dean is a good father. He was a good father to Sam, even when he was only 6 years old himself. He was a good father to Ben. He was willing to die for Bobby John. He’s always good with kids. Not only that, but Dean is blunt enough, brave enough, and crazy enough to tell God to God’s face what he thinks. God needs Dean’s advice, his perspective and opinion on family relationships, but he also needs to see what Dean would do if he were in God’s shoes.
[Edit (1/04/21): After seeing Michael and Lucifer (mostly) heal, and after seeing Sam and Dean heal their relationship, God finally has hope for him and Amara. So God logically wants to retrieve Amara from her prison. But how? Well, he could just wander on up to Cain and do it himself, but what would Amara say? “So I see you’ve come crawling back, eh, Chucky?” She wouldn’t be impressed with God. She wouldn’t understand, because she’s hopeless too. SO how to give her hope? How to make her see that she and God can be okay again? Why, stick her near Dean Winchester, of course! So God sets things up for Dean to get and lose the Mark of Cain, thereby ensuring that Amara will feel a connection to Dean and stick around him/keep him alive long enough for Dean to work his life-coach magic.]
In S11, God and Amara heal their relationship because of the hope Sam and Dean gave God, and also the direct advice Dean gives God. God and Lucifer, not so much.
God needs more data. He needs to see what Dean would do. In comes Castiel’s relevance. God sets things up so that Lucifer can have a son. A nephil. Jack. And God points Castiel in Jack’s direction, trusting Castiel’s ability for unconditional love to keep Jack alive long enough for the experiment. Castiel becomes Jack’s father. But Castiel will never betray Jack, the way God betrayed Lucifer. And, besides, Castiel isn’t the target of this experiment. But it is Castiel’s relationship with Dean Winchester that provides the link needed to get the experiment rolling.
Because Jack is Castiel’s son, he is therefore Sam and Dean’s nephew. Except, God has been watching Castiel and Dean. And, frankly, their romantic love for each other is so obvious even God cannot miss it. Through Castiel, Dean sees Jack as his son too. He loves Jack, exactly like a son. In this way, Dean parallels God, and Jack parallels Lucifer.
But God knows Dean would not easily turn on any child, let alone his own child. So God had a plan for that too. One that Amara helped him with.
They brought back Mary Winchester.
Mary is the one person in existence whose loss would hurt Dean enough to spur him to action. So, she was brought back to die. It was a matter of only a few years of gentle prodding to get everything in position. Jack causes Mary’s death. Dean is faced with a horrible decision. If Jack can kill Mary, what’s to say that Sam and Castiel wouldn’t be next? Marys death is like everything beginning all over again for Dean as well. Her first death set off a chain reaction, a series of unfortunate events that spanned decades and nearly caused the ruination of not only Dean’s life, but Sam’s and John’s and even the world. That scar, which had healed as well as it could after 70 years, that God saw was healed in 10x05, has been violently opened up again. It’s the only thing that could force Dean’s hand, that could get him to betray Jack and try to kill him. If Jack had killed Sam or Castiel, it wouldn’t have had the same effect. Both Sam and Castiel had died and come back so many times, and while it would hurt Dean and make him doubt Jack, their deaths would be a sacrifice that Dean would feel obligated to respect, to give Jack a second chance like they would both want. (And God has been laying the groundwork for Dean, convincing him that Jack is evil, will be evil like Lucifer, can’t be allowed to live. All things God has thought about Lucifer over time. Was Lucifer inherently evil? Was their rift inevitable?)
So, here it is. The big test. Will Dean kill Jack? Will he betray Jack and cause an unhealable rift? Or will he find a way to heal, like he did with Sam against all the odds?
And, once again, Dean impresses God. He refuses to kill Jack.
But now we’re in the endgame. Sam, Dean and Castiel are aware that Jack’s life was only on the line because of God. It’s not something they can forgive, or understand. They’re all God’s guinea pigs, and while he loves his guinea pigs, he knows he’s hurt them in the name of science, of knowledge. or healing, and God can’t undo what he’s done. Free will is linear, after all. So it is time for the Winchesters, Castiel and Jack included, to be done with God. God is done with them, too. It’s time for them to be free and at peace. The experiments are done. God has decided not to kill Lucifer. He has decided to try to heal. He can get Lucifer out of the Empty and talk and try to fix things. He has forever to fix things, now that he knows he can. (The last element of this, Jack forgiving Dean for trying to kill him, is something I have limited knowledge of, but I am under the impression happens so... To be added in the edit once I finish the series.)
But the only way the Winchesters will be able to rest, is if they think God, the last and greatest villain, is out of the way. They know they’ve been manipulated their whole lives, first towards the sibling experiment and now the parent experiment, so they need to think God is gone so they can feel secure in their free will once more. Truthfully, God never took their free will. He set them up in situations, maybe even gave a bio-chemical nudge of anger (Dean) or attraction (Sam and Eileen) every now and then. But the choices were always theirs. Still, God knows they won’t see it that way. So he sets things up so that they can defeat him.
He lets them win. He wants them to win. They cannot defeat God, after all. It’s not God’s time, and Death is the only one who can claim God in the end, as the two embrace as friends and walk to the next existence. But the Winchesters need this, and so God allows it. A last gift, to the beings who have been such help, hope and inspiration to him.
With an eye for an eventual S16, 15x20 is written to be ‘an ending’ but also one that could easily be reframed as a bad dream.
For example...
Unfortunately, after Jack, suped up on a extra Grace God lent him, restores the Earth and expends all the Grace (”giving up the mantle of God so that their is no God, no plans, only Free Will”), and Dean, Sam and Jack head back to the Bunker to regroup and gather the ingredients to do the spell to rescue Castiel from the Empty, they’re jumped by monsters who are angry with how much God has fucked with them on behalf of the Winchesters. 15x20 is all a djinn dream Dean is trapped in.
16x01 is Dean waking himself up from the djinn dream, Sam and Jack escaping their own monsters, and then the end of 16x01 is Dean saying something about waking Castiel up from his own dreams in the Empty. The rest of S16 sees the boys save Castiel, reunite with Eileen, start a monster-hunting Bobby Singer/Men of Letters-esque organisation, Dean and Castiel getting together and getting married on Valentine’s Day, Jack getting to live a normal life, going to school, making friends, etc.
If their is no S16 ever (which would be criminal), then 15x20 makes no sense, unless it is plainly a recount of an old, hopeless ending written by God. However you spin it, 15x20 is not the way it seems (like owls).
All things being said, God is an antagonist, but he’s not evil. He’s an asshole, sure, but he never once worked against the Winchesters, never bet against them, never tried to erase or end them. He wanted them to win. He wanted to see the fruits of free will be love, second chances, hope, forgiveness, healing, and happiness, not just betrayal, pain, selfishness, jealousy, disappointment, and hopelessness.
Why is the ending he shows Becky ‘hopeless’? Because God is. He has spent his long existence losing his most loved family members. Amara, Lucifer. How can things end well for God, when they can’t even end well for humans? But Sam and Dean defy the script, again and again. They surprise God, defying the statistics, defying the hypotheses, throwing the experiment into disarray. Giving God hope. Sam and Dean were okay. Dean and Jack were okay. If God had a romantic love, he would find hope from Dean and Castiel being okay. But when God wrote the book he showed Becky, he was writing what he thought would happen. In the end, surely, not even Dean can be enough to hold Sam and Cas and Jack together. But in the end, as we see, as God sees, he is proven wrong and he’s happy to be wrong. He’s hopeful. And he can leave Dean, Sam, Castiel and Jack, and all the angels and all the humans, to rule the Earth and the Heavens. He doesn’t need to learn anything more from them, so he heads to the Empty, with Amara, with Lucifer, with Death (Billie or not, Death is there for God in the end), and they can all depart for a better existence of their own.
If you read all of this, thanks! I eagerly anticipate watching the remaining 10 seasons so I can come back and edit the heck outta this, but until then, if y’all have any thoughts, I’d be interested to hear them~
TLDR: God is a morally bankrupt scientist and the Winchesters are his guinea pigs, but he’s not evil and he does love his guinea pigs, even if he could really treat them nicer.

I DON’T CARE if this doesn’t get any notes. I need to vent.
My name is Agustina, I’m 27 years old. I’m a nonbinary, queer, latinx person, parent of a 4 year old, non-verbal authistic child. I suffer from depression and anxiety.
I’m 9 thousand kilometers away from the woman I love.
I’m not a victim. I am a minority. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
I started watching Supernatural in 2015, you know, being a stay-at-home parent, who dropped her career and her job to live the first years of their child, there wasn’t much I could do in my free time but to watch a show. I caught a few episodes of season 11 on tv and then I decided to start from zero. I always acknowledged how problematic it was in terms of representation, but always saw small threads of light filtering in the message it sent, recognizing how its writers were trying to shed a little light, creating a jenga tower of storylines and new characters, only to be thrown away by poor, useless deaths and the erasure of said characters.
Since my first run on season 1 I related to Dean. I saw myself on him. (I will never be as brave and cool as him tho, never ever, but his personality traits, some of his family issues, his self worth issues, his loneliness, his unaddressed childhood trauma, his growth in a circle of violence, his reticence to address his feelings until he explodes?... Yeah. There are days where my girlfriend makes fun of me saying “Ok Dean”). I kept looking up to Dean in his geekiness, in his way he always put his life on the line to protect the people he loves and put them always first… even in the supernatural side of the storyline, he still was profoundly human and abnegated to the people in his life. Also because I’m deeply in love with Castiel but that’s another subject. Thanks to this show, I’ve found people in my own country who now I recognize as my family beyond SPN, who helped me accept myself the way I am, who are always there for me. My found family, my chosen family. Because family don’t end in blood, because family cares about you, not only for what you can do for them, because that’s what all of us have in common, and why this show resonated as strongly as it did for us. That’s why we found each other and ourselves in the process, in a circle of love, support, non-judgement and willingness to find a family in ourselves when our own blood relatives ignored us, abused us, refused to recognize us. We’ve found love and family. I’ve found the woman with whom I wanna spend the rest of my life with because of this show.
That’s the power of this story. I know my small circle is not the only one who lived this, who continues to live it.
I can talk about this forever, but there’s something I wanna talk about specifically here. When the ending aired.. what I felt was… like a bucket of cold water was thrown over my head. You know when your parents come home, or call you and give you the devastating news that someone you love died? that exact feeling. The adrenaline, the heartbreak, the feeling of loss.
The whole season 15 and 15 years of storyline were completely overturned. The misogyny the writers tried so hard to erase, it was there again, in a faceless woman who was supposed to represent the person a lead chose to spend the rest of his life with, reduced to a lilac dress, a blurry face and a uterus. We never seen acknowledged the existence of Eileen Leahy, Sam Winchester’s romantic interest since season 11, his perfect partner whose disability wasn’t an obstacle for her to be a badass hunter. (BUT COVID!! <- No. Eileen Leahy appeared in two episodes this season without Shoshannah being on set: Last Holiday and Despair. If they wanted to include her, they would have. They didn’t because they don’t give a FUCK). Sam Winchester is an academic, a witch, a leader, a powerful hunter, a kind human being, and the ending that was given to him was living an unfulfilled life, dying at a ridiculous young age, having a son only to replace his dead brother? It was sad. Sammy deserved better. He always did.
My beloved Dean Winchester, who I love so deeply, who taught me a lot about myself, about life, love, family, about *ejem* VICIOUS CIRCLES and the power of breaking free from them, of learning to embrace one’s self, our real tastes, our real identity, to come out of a shadow of being reduced to someone’s caretaker instead of having an identity of our own, to spend life loving family the healthy amount.. well, he was killed in a ridiculous way, on a milk run of a hunt.  After being eager and ready to kill himself so many times. After all he’s been through, after saying he’s good with who he is, after considering retirement, after standing up to his dad, saying he already has a family, ready to cut the “I’m Okay” bullshit, address his feelings, his trauma, don’t letting those define him. He deserved better. He always wanted a family, he always wanted to break free from the version of himself he was created to be, “daddy’s blunt little instrument” (For fuck’s sake, he even said it in the same show 10’ before dying, man. If we don’t keep living, the sacrifice the people who died for us did, was for nothing). Are you telling me this man really would refuse his brother to call an ambulance? Refused his brother to get the first aid kit even knowing it was more serious than his brother thought? He was ready to live. He CHOSE life, and at the end his choice was stripped away from him. He clearly was a bisexual man and they never explored it.
Cas. The misfit. The fish outside of the water. Ambiguous gender and sexuality. Finally makes a homosexual declaration of love after all he’s been through. After being brainwashed, used, suicidal, isolated. After telling Sam and Dean he loved them more than once, that they meant everything for him. After confessing he’s been in love with Dean since he pulled him out of hell…. Was erased from the story. Erased, literally. Two emotionless mentions aren’t enough for a 12 year old family member who pulled both brothers out of hell, who died for them more than once, who until 2 seasons ago he didn’t even feel like he belonged there ‘cause he was never told he was loved. No one ever told him “I love you” back. Not Jack, not Sam, not Dean, not Mary. No one. Ever. And still, he died for love. And with his death, he was erased from the finale, being that the first finale Castiel wasn’t in since his appearance on the show. He deserved better.
All roads lead to Rome and you know what we got at the end of that road? a bottomless pit of NOTHING. The building up towards a different end isn’t just in s15. It’s been there for years and years. And if you watch the show, you see it at plain sight.

Sam Winchester hurried to die to reunite with his brother in heaven EVEN WHEN HE SPENT 30 MORE YEARS WITH A WIFE AND A KID he only wanted to die to go back to his brother? it’s insane, it’s ridiculous. That’s not what the show has been about for seasons now. SEASONS. The road was paved towards a healthy brotherly bond, each brother living their future the way they wanted, finally breaking free from the curse John dropped on Dean that Sam’s destiny was in his hands. No no. What was that? Did it ever happen? Was it a fever dream? They really destroyed everything in 38 minutes of the finale?
Stupid.
Representation is important, stories are important. They change lives. You know how it changed mine? After I saw Jonathan Van Ness coming out as non-binary, I started to realize how I never called myself "a woman, a girl" or anything like that, how my "female presenting" aesthetic changes drastically depending on how I feel when I wake up  how I always called myself a "person", no gender involved. I realized I was a non-binary person even after becoming a parent. Thanks to Jonathan Van Ness. Thanks to seeing a person like her being unapologetically herself.
Representation matters.
It matters.
It helped my mom understand me when I was 13 and had a girlfriend. It helped my dad educate himself about trans identities. It helped my sister understand about her demisexuality. It helps break circles of ignorance and stereotypes. It helps people process what these characters wanna tell, and realize they're human beings above it all. We suffer, we laugh, we grieve. We love. We exist.
Supernatural missed a chance to be a historical show in terms of representation. And it breaks my heart.  I cant believe they decided to erase Dean's sexuality, to erase Castiel after saying loud and proud he's in love with a man, to erase Eileen whose disability only was a disadvantage when they KILLED HER in the most ableistic way in s11, to never show Charlie and her girlfriend again, that they decided to make God bisexual AND a villain, thay they decided to turn the only regular non-binary character of color into the villain too (Billie).
I'm still grieving.
This is why "a stupid show" is so important for me, and for lot of people like me. Cause representation can change lives. Stories can change lives. It certainly changed mine, and I'm not the only one.
Don't let anyone tell you you're just a butthurt fan because you're suffering this ending. Every one of us have a story and this is mine. All of us are valid, our feelings are valid. And we'll get through this eventually

I feel really dumb for asking this but I am not super involved in the SPN fandom these days but can you explain the [gunshot] [omitted] [redacted] meme I keep seeing on my dashboard since the big jared gutted drama? I'm sorry :(
Oh, this is an interesting question, I’m not sure I know how it started but I can try. But you know, like with all memes this is more about gut feeling than logical explanation. If someone has better ideas, chime in in notes!
Ok, iirc [gunshot] has been used already for some time, in tags or short posts. I think it’s used in place of a word that we think would be cut out by the CW. Idk if this goes together with CW sniper meme? The usage relies on the reader actually knowing which word is being replaced. Something like - We know that Dean and Cas are in [gunshot]. Point being that saying out loud that they are in love will get you killed. It’s a hyperbole of course but sometimes it feels like it in fandom, what with all homophobia and anti destiel peeps. Or like questions about destiel were literally forbidden in Creation Cons.
Same goes with [redacted]. It’s just a less violent way to say the higher powers didn’t like something and it was removed. Like we KNOW what was supposed to be there , but it was taken out and that’s how we know it was gay and destiel-y. Like any meme, it is also open to interpretation I think. The point is that something was removed bc it was too gay. And then we sometimes even get a proof what exactly was removed. Most proof comes from spn scripts nowadays. Like just yesterday we learned that 12x19 script actually had the paradise vision that Jack shoved to Cas. And it was very very destielly.
Now, [omitted] is the most recent one. I think it comes from spn finale script reveal where they literally printed [OMITTED] instead of certain scenes. Which was just a stone cold proof that yeah, a lot of scripted material was either redacted or omitted from final shooting scripts or even left on cutting room floor. I always thought this meme is an expression of fandom’s powerlessness but with an angry bite back. Like we know that destiel was written in the scripts but the only proof we have is the empty spaces, words redacted and omitted. So we turn this bitter feeling into a meme to say that we know. And like any meme it conveys the feeling instead of detailed information. That’s why it is used on short posts and in tags. So, nonny please don’t feel dumb for not getting it. It’s fandom speak and it’s not easy to keep up with it.
If you mean posts where all three words are used together, I think that’s a very recent development, after we got omitted. So we have a full set now. And then we got [gutted] thanks to j*red, so fandom is just running wild with these memes. In short, I think this particular meme is fandom dealing with the things we were  robbed off. It’s an angry expression of knowing that we were right.
Ok, so I swear i think I reblogged post with [redacted] [omitted] [gutted] over Dean, Cas and Sam pics, and it is actually very fitting. Dean’s text was usually redacted, Cas was omitted/ his scenes cut out, and j*red is gutted bc it’s funny and he said it himself. ETA - found it!

Thanks @porcupine-girl for tagging me, let’s see what I’ve been doing lately.
Last song I listened to: Technically, Birds of Prey: The Album, but practically I’ve been listening to Evermore by Taylor Swift on the loop for weeks.
Last movie watched: I am such a flighty watcher, I’ve a bunch of movies started and I intend to finish them buuuuut. The last one I finished and actually liked and played in the background couple of times - Blade Runner 2049. Oh, and Birds of Prey, of course, the last movie I rewatched this week again.
Currently reading: Dinluke aka Din Djarin/Luke Skywalker fic, devouring fic, maniacally checking the tag every day, subscribing to bunch of WIPs and reading every update. OK, let’s call it just reading. I guess this is my soft pairing after the angsty destiel. (hit me up if you want some recs!)
Currently watching: Finally catching up with The Good Place. And I guess I better finish The Falcon and the Winter Soldier soon, if I want to browse tumblr freely next week.
Currently craving: Sleep
Currently working on: fandom wise - trying to keep my destiel sideblogs alive. I never ever ever expected to keep them running for so long. Or for destiel fandom to be so active still. Tagging art on @destielfanworks is tiresome since autofill tags disappear every few months; I keep plotting new rec lists for @destielfanfic but it’s kinda difficult because of the fics I read now. waffling about making a dinluke art, fic and gif side blog. as a treat
Currently playing: TsumTsum on my mobile, short games, fast refills, instant gratification, momentary stress relief.
Tagging: everyone's welcome if that’s your thing but also @kyrie101,   @magnificent-winged-beast , @some-people-call-it-tragic , @super-sootica, @nguyenxtrang, @helianthus21
No pressure tho, only if you want!

ok one more because i love your thoughts: five things that supernatural should have done but never did - story/plotwise, characterwise, etc
Oh I love this one!!
5. Return of Jesse Turner and Jacob Pond. These two had so much promise and were pilot threads that were abandoned for no reason. Jesse Turner is the proto Jack: bringing him back would fulfill this role or give jack and kindred spirit, and would also show an understanding of show continuity. Jacob Pond is the proto Cole, and could’ve been much better suited for that storyline. Plus, we couldn’t had some consequences coming back to bite them.
4. Cas’ waning powers/the Heaven situation. The set up was heavily pushed in early s15, and we got a lot of angel politics in the seasons directly leading to the final season. Instead, we never follow up on what exactly is happening to Cas (although we got a lot of time on it) and we never get to see what happens to the angels, even though we got years of development.
3. Revealing supernatural to the world. I think s15 should’ve ended with a huge, universe altering change that would’ve been felt by everyone in the story universe. For me, what best fits this role is a reveal of the supernatural to the world at large. This changes the shows premise entirely, gets rid of hunger culture, and gives Sam and Dean an end to their duties. I think this could’ve been a really effective conclusion.
2. Sam’s Powers. These were too important to just drop and never bring back again. Like, you establish early on that a protagonist is psychic and just never come back to again? Baffling. This storyline was so good and so interesting and I wish, even if it had to be written out, that we got some sort of conclusive explanation for why it was gone.
1. The God Bullet Wound. This is my brand. This is what I’ve been pushing for since I made this blog. This would’ve been SO perfect to explore and deal with, and folding in a now antagonist god with the return of Sam’s “special connections” that gave him powers is a perfect way to combine classic and modern spn and end it with a bang. This would’ve satisfied so many narrative threads and I think could’ve done something interesting with Sam’s overall journey specifically. I think leaning into this also could’ve dealt with the rest of the issues on this list so it’s a win/win.
Top 5 anything

There was something defective in the blueprints of the universe Chuck created where Cas rebels and TFW wins (aka the main universe we see).
Ok I've thought a lot about this, and I may just be spewing nonsense, dont get me wrong, but it feels like an itch I need to scratch (by writing a long post about a random theory, because that's how we do things in this house).
There's something about how decadent the angels get and how broken the system is in Heaven that just feels wrong. Firstly, remember how Chuck tells Cas in s15 that in every single other universes, he was a good little warrior and "did what he was told"? It may not be the angel in question that has a "crack in his chassis", but the designs of Creation themselves.
Here's the thing, we know doubt was already spreading around in Heaven before Cas rebelled, before he became this legend (wether a good or a bad one, still a legend amongst the feathered assholes) in Heaven. But without Cas fighting (and killing) his own Brethren, without him pushing against the Great Plan for Dean, would those other angels actually have rebelled? Maybe they did in one universe, only to reinstate the old order, with a slight twist, probably simply the leader/god wasn't the same angel as it was before (Michael) (they're not exactly famous for their original thinking). Maybe they backed down after getting sent back to Bible camp. Maybe they were simply killed because subtlety isn't one of their fortes either and the faithful other hundreds (thousands? millions? I'm never sure) of angels found out and eradicated the threat.
Incidentally, from the few clips we get of the other worlds, I seem to remember seeing Cas chasing after Sam and Dean along with other angels, so it really looks as though Heaven wasn't defeated and still righteous and still in full functioning order. The Host was still goin' strong, if you will, unlike in our little universe, where only a few angels remain and the archangels are dead and everything is absolutely going to shit up there.
My point is still fuzzy but I'm getting to it, just give me a few more paragraphs I swear it makes sense. I intend to wrap it all up very neatly once I figure it out.
So as I was saying, in the universes where Lucifer didn't win, but where the Apocalypse didn't happen either (without Cas' help in making sure it didn't, since he "did what he was told") Heaven still did not fall. They didn't scatter like cockroaches, the Host was still there, still chasing after Sam and Dean after at least a decade. Perhaps it suffered some setbacks, a few changes in Management, but it was still Heaven, ya know? Same everlasting goals and same targets.
Which brings me to my second/third example (point? idea? not sure what to call them to be honest): Zachariah the time bender. I know angels are capable of twisting time a bit, traveling through it, provided they have a big enough power generator (several angels working together, an archangel, a very strong will as we see with Cas, you name it), but the stunt Zach pulled by twisting the timeline effectively causing a fork to appear in linear time? That's not just traveling, that's creating. Something an angel doth not do. Zach had a bit of a crack in his chassis as well, from my point of view. Zapping Sam and Dean in a weird universe where they work office jobs? Ok. Zapping Dean in the past to see his mom and dad? Ok. Those are angel-level-of-thinking-and-doing things. Creating a different timeline?? That's what Chuck does (albeit in greater scale) with his different universes. Zach was somehow a): allowed to do it and b): able to do it. How?? And interestingly enough, even in a different timeline, this world still has a failing Host. One that up and left.
Speaking of apocalyptic worlds, let's not forget that even during an ongoing apocalypse, even lead by a deranged Michael, Heaven did not fall either. All the worlds where Lucifer won aren't exactly relevant here, if Heaven was defeated well within the rules of the Big Ol' Plan then that neither proves nor disproves my point. There may even be some worlds where Michael is killed by Lucifer and the Apocalypse begins, but the Devil still doesn't win, wether it be thanks to the Winchesters, or Heaven fighting back and winning in the end, or maybe both.
My point is, this world we see most of the time is Chuck's favorite, the one he was most "hands on" with. It's the one where he writes himself into the story and observes and intervenes sometimes. It's the one where he has to do that. It's the one where Amara is freed and the angels are able to do jackshit about it. It's the one where Heaven falls, it's the one where the holy rules are broken from the get go, it's the one that allowed an angel like Cas to break free, even when Chuck himself wasn't too happy about it. Heaven becomes the ruins of what it once was and loses its power for no reason other than a couple dudes with guns and knives and this one angel whose programming didn't go according to plan. It's the one where Bobby is enough to free souls from their rest by basically knocking on a couple doors, like cmon. A Heaven whose gates are so easily manipulated Metatron manages to close them off and takes over for a little while. One where all the angels fall and lose their wings. It's a Heaven where legions aren't enough to bring back one stubborn, unimportant in the grand scheme of things (or so they thought) angel to the pearly gates. They lose every endeavor they put their minds to, they don't slaughter demons by the dozens, they're lost.
This isn't an A grade Heaven. This is a Heaven that must've had a flaw in the design. Perhaps that's why Chuck found it so interesting, maybe not realizing why. He left one termite in the woodwork, and watched it all crumble, popcorn in his hand, unaware of his slow downfall until it was much too late. Without a malfunctioning Heaven like that one, he'd still be God. Cas wasn't the one with the crack in the chassis, yes he was special, but I like to think he happened to exist in the same universe as that termite, and the dominoes fell accordingly. It's like a butterfly effect, maybe Chuck created this world absentmindedly, no particular idea in mind, got distracted for a millisecond (which could well be an eternity in his case, time is a weird concept) and overlooked one typo in the code, forgot to write one little detail in small letters at the bottom of the contract, didn't add the teaspoon of baking powder sitting next to him to his batter, and the world exploded majestically in his face. Maybe he wanted to make this one more interesting, and corrected a sequence but forgot to change the initial layout of the program, maybe he lengthened his sentence but forgot to add punctuation or forgot to remove a capital letter, maybe he added a clause in the contract that created a loophole, who knows? It still had the same result. Him losing his powers, and probably dying in a ditch somewhere.
Seeing as this theory already didn't make much sense in my head, I hope I've at least articulated it well enough to make it comprehensible, and that the last point clears off whatever confused cobwebs had been accumulating in your mind after each sentence.

Well that was traumatic.
Like last week, a very standard-feeling MOTW, almost pointedly standard, until...it wasn’t. Only this time it wasn’t a twist in the hunt, it was mytharc crashing into a hunt that was called out, in text, as “too easy.” How very very interesting.
So it seems the deep freeze on the part of pointedly not mentioning Cas is over. Sam’s been texting him. A lot. So many texts. Yeesh Cas, take pity on the boy and answer him. From the texts I glimpsed on screen it looks like Dean didn’t tell Sam anything, just some vague excuse about Cas needing to go off to do something or other on his own for whatever reason mumble mumble, oooh pie. So Sam doesn’t know what went down there.
Dean is still using food to not deal with his feelings. It’s the same demeanor we saw in 15.04--food humor, stuffing his face, and we see this facade throughout the episode. Dean has cultivated and built this I’m fine facade because he has to, just to keep going. He is genuinely relieved thinking Chuck is gone, but there’s still the doubt cast over his whole life and what was real about it and what wasn’t. Last week’s pep talk to Sam--fake it ‘til you make it. Dean trying to talk himself into that and cheer Sam up, and it is something to shoot for. As if Dean’s going to talk himself into it. If he says it enough, he’ll believe it. Jensen’s performance is just the right amount of believably forced. It’s not ostentatious, the pain is held just beneath the surface and I get the feeling of Dean walling things off, like he’s stuff all those doubts into a box and slammed the lid and it’s in there screaming and throwing things at the door, like AU Michael, but Dean’s going to keep motoring because what else can he do.
Why, why, WHY why did I have to see Dean shooting Samifer with the Colt, I can never unsee this. Oh now I have to see Dean burning up, consumed by flames at Samifer’s command, oh no WHY DO I HAVE TO SEE THIS. How many times will S15 make me witness Sam or Dean killing the other.
And as this ep makes abundantly clear, yet again, to show us the undesirable ending. Just to make it even more clear we’ve got codependent werewolf brothers one killing the other and then killing himself, we’ve got existential despair, we’ve got an incredibly pointedly standard drab MOTW where the ep noticeably improves once it turns out it’s not what it seems. This is all so pointed I’m going to get a paper cut. For those who missed it in the back: a narrative without hope and a miserable hopeless ending and codependency and no growth is the undesirable big bad here, the ending the actual big bad villain wants, and the goal of the heroes is to subvert and stop that. To make a better outcome.
Gosh it’s like dark narratives that offer a sense of hope and catharsis and a better outcome is a valid thing or something, not something that means you need therapy for wanting in your fiction, isn’t that just wild.
Also the degree that SPN is deconstructing its own MOTW routine, in text, is fascinating. It’s not a takedown on early MOTW, but it seems like a very meta-textual self-awareness of the role of MOTW in modern SPN, what SPN is now. And the same thing over and over just isn’t going to cut it.
I really enjoyed this scene with Dean’s understanding and compassion for this terrified girl. Demonstrating the comfort Sam and Dean can offer people, they go after the monsters. He’s not even trying to hide what they do as sometimes the Winchesters have, yes ma’am, rabid bobcat that escaped from the zoo none of that here. And Dean’s face watching the girl crying.
“Do you like your job?”
And Dean says “there’s a lot of bad but it feels good to help people. I’m where I’m supposed to be” -- which is a sad little callback to Dean’s self-assurance about his life and who he is in the middle of S14. The saddest part is he really did get there, or at least a start, and now he’s doubting his whole life because of Chuck’s plot manipulations and I’m sad, but I don’t think it’s all torn down. It’s still there, it’s being battered and torn but Dean got there and Chuck isn’t going to destroy it forever.
Dean’s FACE when Ashley says how everything is so random and awful and wouldn’t it be easier if it was all planned out “and decided for you.”
There’s several lines in here where characters point out the case is “too easy”--Sam says it and then Lilith and maybe a few other instances I didn’t jot down. It definitely felt that way before the twist, as I said, like 15.04...it felt a little too rote. But then it wasn’t.
The werewolf brother shoots his brother, a very obvious mirror to Sam and Dean killing each other in Sam’s visions. “He turned into a monster. And I’m a monster too” and then the poor guy kills himself yikes.
When Ashley fell on the antlers at first I thought Chuck was going to mess with them by having the victim they saved die due to a random senseless accidental death and that would be nasty af but Chuck had even bigger plans because WTF that’s LILITH. Oh ok.
Very very standard MOTW takes dark twist, then swerves even more darkly deep into mytharc territory.
OH NO ANOTHER VISION MOC DEAN GOING AFTER SAM
“This isn’t you”
In Chuck’s bleak endings, yellow crayons never work. MoC demon Dean kills Sam.
NOPE.
Also no Cas in the AU/ending again. I was kind of assuming demon blood Sam killed him in the vision in 15.04 or maybe it was a world without a Cas. But if these are possible endings to this Sam and Dean, then there was a Cas at one point, and so my theory that demon blood Sam killed him seems likely.
In the MoC Dean one, oh there was absolutely a Cas. Because MoC Dean killed him. Because “You’re living my life backwards.” Moc Dean killed Cas, his Collette, and then he killed Sam, his brother. It’s Cain’s prophecy about Dean’s potential dark path fulfilled.
“That was God too, right?” This line was so heartwrenching, Dean really is questioning absolutely everything they ever did.
Then Lilith mocks that Dean “bonding with the victim” scene. EXCUSE ME LILITH HOW DARE.
This is extra cruel, because it’s some of the best parts of Dean being played against him. Dean was being his best heroic compassionate self there, and Lilith was playing him the whole time. My heart is cracking.
A Cas mention, even Dean participates. This is a big enough crisis that he can’t just stay high top the thing not!mentioning Cas, much as Dean tried to do that. He’s not ready to deal with any of his Cas feelings.
Interesting though, Dean’s weapon of choice was an angel blade, even after that breakup.
“God was supposed to be gone.” YOU ARE BREAKING MY HEART. I KNEW THIS WAS COMING, AND IT STILL HURTS. “This was supposed to be over. We were done. We were free.” Oh Dean my poor bb.
So now they have flipped again. Last week Dean was holding it together while Sam found it hard to keep on, now Dean’s hope is gone and he loses his grip on his attempt to act okay as if acting okay can make him be okay. Which he could do for only so long, but could do it more and longer without the emotional horror of discovering Chuck isn’t gone and he’s still messing with them. Dean was trying to keep a toe-hold on purpose and meaning but that was a facade and this ep just rips that thin poncho of fake it 'til you make it violently away.
While Sam, because of the wound from the equalizer, apparently can see right into Chuck’s brain. Maybe Chuck doesn’t know, or is Chuck purposefully taking the opportunity to use that wound to inflict this emotional horror on Sam.
(btw how many times am I going to use the phrase emotional horror in my S15 metas. So many).
“Chuck only likes one kind of ending.” So these aren’t AU’s...these are Chuck’s endings for the story where Sam and Dean kill each other. Note again the lack of Cas in these scenarios. And why could that be. Because to get there, Chuck has to get rid of Cas. Cas has to stay out of the story. Let me point you back to my theory on the uniqueness of Team Free Will in this world and Cas’s importance in Sam and Dean’s lives. This still fits even if these aren’t AU’s but potential endings. Cas is the crack in the chassis. The spanner in the works. Really inconvenient for Chuck and his quest for the miserable terrible no good hopeless very bad ending for Sam and Dean.

Look what I brought!! Another boost of serotonin!!😄 Aahhaa! Queen's cave I'm sure it must be awesome since you're the queen of the place😍
Yeah. It can also be accident but again accident don't happen accidentally
I think so🥺 but also I'm competing with you here competition is pretty tough but as I said I looooove you💖✨💖✨
Let's do it then! Oh! A real date that is so sweet, and yes we will play bingo. I don't want big dinner dates but I do want to try a pie with you so we can do that too on our date night and maybe slow dance if you're on board.
NOOOOOO! AGAFGFSG That's the first constellation I look for. You grab the pen, I'll grab the paper, let's do it right now!! We're making a bingo!!
We're definitely soulmates ✨✨ So, I guess we're engaged! Come here let me hug you 🤗😘🤗
Aww🥰🥰🥰I'm pretty sure our pictures are gonna be cute af coz we'll be goofy and stare at each other the whole time and I'll tell you something at the last moment and you'll laugh while I'm busy staring at you coz you look beautiful. And that will be our perfect picture 😍
I'm really bad at it so far I've only thought of this question; do you have any pet and Are you a dog person or a cat person? I don't have any pet rn I would love to have one. And I used to be a dog person but then I saw lots of people with these cute little cats and I was like I want one too. So, yeah, I like both dog and cats as long as I can have a pet coz that's all that matters.
If I had million dollars. Well, that's very less for my plans now for a million dollars I would probably make that sound proof room first to blast the music, buy a 67 Chevy Impala, and maybe invest the rest of it somewhere. Apart from this question I'll take it up a notch for if I had Jeff Bezos kind of money coz I sometimes think about when people says he should put that money to good. Okay so first I'll do all the above things then I've seen this in a video I think where it said if Jeff Bezos want he can end pollution or global warming it was one of them I don't recall clearly but it requires few hundred million so I'll go ahead and end pollution. I'll also buy spn and do s15 all over again. These are only things I can think of😂😂 what will you do?
(Yk because we were talking about stars and all that so I remembered that song and I went ahead to listen to it and it had all those lyrics which reminded me of you and how it matches our situation and I can't help but put all those lines dow in the ask. I was thinking about you the whole time while listening to it🤗🤗)
(I've searched your lyrics and I'm adding it to the songs list too. Currently there are like 3-4 songs not a lot of them but if we keep doing it then I'll have a whole list coz I don't know that many English songs)
hell yeah you did, babe!!!😄💞 oh yeah it’s very awesome😎👑 plus, you get vip access;)
okay dean winchester I see you;))))
oh you want competition? you got your competition baby😏 I. Love. You.💋
yaaas! I’m glad you’re down for it! I’ll get you all the pies you want, my beloved<3 I am sooo on board slow dancing with you. I honestly am on board dancing whenever ahah, I sure do love dancing💃🏻
soulmates I swear!!✨ back off people, i’m engaged! *dives into your arms*😚
and then you’ll beg me to use it for our lockets. and I won’t be able to resist your soft puppy eyes, so I do it. after we’re done laughing, I pull out a small box from behind me. you seem confused, so I ask you to open it. it’s an old polaroid camera from the 70s that belonged to my mum, and I want to give it to you. there’s a pack of film underneath which you quickly load up into the camera and take a quick photo of me. you love it so much just like I knew you would. a precious gift for a precious person<3
that’s a great question. hmm, i’m not sure. it depends, I think. like both my bestfriends have a cat and I practically adopted both lol, but one of them doesn’t really vibe with me while the other does. so it really differs from one cat/dog to the other. I wouldn’t mind a soft tiny puppy or a huge husky either. maybe we could get a cute little cat for our new house🤔 what breed would you like?
smart choices!! you really do know how to spend your money;) also, if you wake up and can’t find your car, I stole it🤫 ooo I like, I’ll literally marry you again if you do it. maybe work with greta thunberg to figure it out! ahah pls😂😂😂 just redo the finale, that would be more than enough😂 I’d give a portion to my parents so they could go on that around-the-world cruise they’ve always wanted to do. I’ll take 250K, maybe use part of it to get an aviation license👀 put 300K into savings. that’ll leave us with around 350K which i’ll scatter around charities, campaigns and good causes.
(ok pls this is so cute you are so cute how even- 😭😭😭💞💞💞💞💞💞💞 ilysm that is so nice🥺)
(oooh interesting!! I like that idea. wait, do you have spotify?)
🎶I love how your heart beats whenever I hold you, I love how you think of me without being told to, I love the way your touch is always heavenly. But, darling, most of all I love how you love me🎶💕

7-12 and 16-20 for the asks!
7. What do you dislike about your favourite season?
i think season 2 is the best, but as i’ve said before, my favourite is 4 solely because the first few eps i watched were from s4. i think season 4 is very solid and even though it’s a season that HURTS BAD because of everything happening between sam and dean, i think the show earns the conflict for the most part. the literal only thing that still haunts me is that the STUPID VOICEMAIL THAT GETS ALTERED IS NEVER ADDRESSED. like i hate more than anything that sam still thinks dean said those things. like i know jared’s said that sam knows dean loves him but i don’t care!!! sam /and/ dean deserve to know the voicemail was changed.
OH also literally everything with anna milton. she deserved better <3 sorry the fridged you and gave part of your arc to a man, queen.
also sam and dean should’ve found out cas let sam out of the panic room.
8. Thoughts on Sam’s demon blood arc
i love sam’s demon blood arc. his hot girl summer! in all seriousness, it makes perfect sense. mystery spot sets it up that sam goes dark when he doesn’t have dean, and s4 is the natural progression of that. i love sam being hellbent on revenge, and the blood drinking was hot sorry not sorry. like obviously the end result wasn’t stellar and the handling of the demon blood as an addiction was handled rather shittily in the show, but overall this arc is near and dear to me and if i couldn’t have the boy king, i’m glad i got this instead. and it brings up some really interesting concepts that get explored really well in fic.
9. Thoughts on the Moc arc
i hate this arc mostly because like dean was terrible...which makes sense, but even after the mark was gone it’s like... he never /really/ pulls himself out of that place. it also just dragged on for FAR too long. like it didn’t need to be like 30 episodes or however long. i do like that it gave us demon!dean being like sexythreatening, and that scene of sam cradling dean’s face and begging him to tell him that he had to kill all those people and just the general sam is dean’s colette of it all. also the end of s10 with sam on his knees and dean telling him to close his eyes is deeply fucked up and i love it for that reason and obviously that happened bc of the MOC storyline.
10. Fave underrated ep
i am highkey obsessed with 1x04 phantom traveller, 2x07 the usual suspects and 4x19 jump the shark and i feel like most people don’t really care about those episodes or bring them up much. phantom traveller is just interesting bc i think the character moments are fun and i am obsessed with plane crashes for some reason. the usual suspects i just adore because it’s really a great exploration of HOW WELL sam and dean know each other and just how alike they are. and unfortunately i really like the cop lady in this one. jump the shark was the second episode of supernatural i ever saw and for some reason something in my brain latched onto adam and never let go. i love him so much (i know it’s not really him in the ep but ukno) and i love how much you learn about sam and dean through it too.
11. Thoughts on BMOL
boring. like...the actors were not good at their accents. they wanted what bela talbot had in s3. i just didn’t find ‘the british are evil’ a compelling storyline in a supernatural show.... like girl i live in real life you don’t need to preach to me about the british. also like they set up ketch to be evil like worse than toni who i already hate because she tortures/sexually assaults sam by having him kill magda i guess? but then they end up redeeming him and he survives longer than both mick (affectionate) and toni (derogatory), like seriously one of the worst Big Bads they’ve ever had.
12. Thoughts on Mary
to be honest, i think bringing her back was kind of a stupid idea in the sense that the ENTIRE SHOW starts because of her death. but i felt like HAVING DONE THAT, trying to deconstruct her image as like this nuclear housewife was compelling and the whole clash of sam and dean who just want their mom versus mary who left her kids as a an infant and a small child and now has these grown men who are older than her needing things she doesn’t know how to give was very interesting. and i wish they’d done more with that.
16. Any criticisms of their world building/lore
well i think everyone’s said it better than me that they can’t seem to get their stance on monsters straight at all and the show suffers for it. i also hate how like the later seasons especially just blatantly retcon so much. the prime example is the garden of eden in s5 vs s15.... the s5 version was so much more interesting and i hate that they brought it back just to destroy their own lore. the whole concept of the abrahamic god being like the ‘real’ god vs other gods just being minor annoyances didn’t like...make sense or feel good either. i also would’ve loved more exploration of like what the fuck it means to be a vessel and also exploration of other monsters/urban legends. like ok we get it ghosts/demons/vampires/werewolves sure w/e but there’s so much to pull from. it got repetitive and there’s so many other things they could’ve tried. hell the SECOND EPISODE of the show mentions black dogs and we never actually encounter one. or like chimeras... like there’s just plenty to dig into and they just get lazy.
17. What did you like about s15?
15x20 <3 also just...jack....that’s my son! MICHAEL/ADAM IN 15X08!!!! i think there were a couple moments i liked in like...the gambler and last holiday, and i thought belphagor was funny. oh! also sam’s nightmare visions were kinda fun even tho they led back to lucifer :/
18. Thoughts on Lucifer
he was a really excellent and intimidating villain in s5.... and frankly i enjoyed hallucifer as well because sure he was presented comedically but he was a deeply dark presence hanging over sam as a reminder of what he suffered. everything after that...sucked!!! it sucked!!!!! overstayed his welcome, letting him out of the cage again totally nullifies sam’s sacrifice and frankly he lost every smidge of intimidation factor he ever had. he was just annoying and whiny and pointless and sam should’ve killed him <3 fuck that guy.
19. Most uncomfortable moments throughout the show for you?
answered here
20. Define the different eras in a few lines or words (s1-5, s6-7, s8-11, s12-15)
this was meant to be short... and then it wasnt... sorry.
kripke: PEAK SUPERNATURAL. racist AND sexist but like i frankly do not care because the actually storytelling is so GOOD. COHERENT. i long for what could’ve been had the strike not kneecapped s3 and we’d gotten boyking, but hell the arc we DID get... so good. so fulfilling. aesthetics go off the charts. character dynamics so good!!! conflicts are earned!!!! there was a fucking vision here and it was unique and interesting and the show was COMMITTED TO IT. literally iconic television i love her so much. eric kripke needs a therapist but i’m glad he wrote this show instead of going to see one.
gamble: sera THEE gamble.... overarching storylines kinda weak, but SO FUN! i had fucking fun! soulless sam is a comedian, godstiel was the last time cas was remotely interesting, like!!!! she gave us everything!!!!! gets slandered way too much by this hell fandom like yes the leviathans were stupid but the were FUN and the character moments in s6-s7!!! so good!!!! lots of excellent MOTW eps as well, which... as we know...i love. when the show lost gamble, it lost something great, i’ll die on this hill. i love u #girlboss.
carver: there’s a lot of good here and a lot i despise. dean steadily grows darker throughout the show but there’s like a real VEER into being awful in s9 that the show never recovers from. it makes dean very unlikeable for the rest of its run, mostly by virtue of the show not realizing how unlikeable it’s made dean because it needs him to always be right so the fact that he’s basically turned into john is never like....addressed in any meaningful way. some storylines (MOC!!) dragged on for too long, while others were way too short (TRIALS!!!) but ultimately i think there were some good ideas here and moments i’m fond of. season 11 is Beautiful. i love her so much. there’s some really excellent eps in s11 and the character moments are good.
dabb: i literally hate it here (jack sweetie you are not included in this assessment you’re doing great). it was just stupid. the characterizations of EVERYBODY sucked and fell flat. way too obsessed with pandering to the loudest faction on twitter. took the wreckage of dean that carver left and full destroyed him. like straight up could’ve done something meaningful if they’d bothered to address it at all but they literally didn’t ever make dean be accountable for his actions??? can’t tell u what cas was doing it was so forgettable he obviously had no purpose literally the only scenes i remember were a couple where he’s being cute with jack and that one ep where he and sam go to that old-timey town and sam gets brainwashed. sam like... exists, and his character is intact but it’s only intact because the writers that were left didn’t want to bother giving him anything meaty to do to so the were like *spins wheel* leadership arc that goes nowhere, and he just exists being kind and compassionate and putting up with too much shit. BUT HE HAD REALLY FUCKING EXCELLENT MOMENTS WITH JACK and that alone is why i think it’s worth the slog. sam/jack is my favourite dynamic on the show following sam/dean so...unfortunately based on that.... i can’t just burn the whole dabb era but seriously... way to make every character a hollow, one-dimensional shell.

Just a reminder that last season everybody got to explore a version of manufactured happiness. Everyone except Cas.
Jack was in heaven, living out the memory of their trip to Dodge City after Cas came back and he got to see Dean happy for the first time.
Sam in 14x15 when he fell under the Mayor’s spell and got to live the white picket suburban life that he’s often dreamed about.
And Dean, when Michael trapped him in the place he thought would make him happy, a bar in his own mind.
None of it was real, but they all got to experience a sense of happiness nonetheless. But Cas didn’t. And it’s not like it was just an oversight. What would it take to make Cas happy was an important question that was brought up last season. So important, in fact, that his fate was tied to it.
The Entity vowed to take him the moment he allowed himself to be happy:
I want you to go back to-- to your normal life and-- and then forget about this and forget about me. And-- And then, when you finally give yourself permission to be happy and let the sun shine on your face, that's when I'll come. That's when I'll come to drag you to nothing.
I think it’s interesting that the Entity repeatedly emphasised that it would come for Cas after he had forgotten about the deal, and that (unless I’m forgetting another reference - feel free to correct me if I am) the last time the deal was mentioned was in 14x09:
Cas: You know, the Empty said that it wouldn't come for me until I had finally given myself permission to be happy, but with everything we have going on, with -- with Michael still out there, I don't see that happening anytime soon. This life may be a lot of things, but it's rarely happy.
Jack: I’m sorry.
I know things in the story were most likely changed after the announcement that s15 would be the last, and certain elements were potentially altered or rushed through. I mean I suppose that could be the case with Cas’ deal with The Empty. However I also can’t help myself from fixating on those other details.
Cas being the only main character to not experience any kind of happiness based simulation. What does he want? What would make him truly happy? What does happiness even look like for him? Those questions were never answered for Cas. And then on top of that, The Empty’s assertion that he would come after Cas had forgotten about him.
Cas isn’t going to be in the midseason premiere which is unusual and I can’t imagine that would be the case if there wasn’t a damn good reason. I’m interested to see why that is. Either way, I do think we’re finally going to get an answer to the question “What do you want?” for Cas this season.
(Sidenote if we’re going to go full symmetry on this, him being happy could come after everything’s ok and they’ve dealt with Michael - there is another Michael still out there after all - but that’s just wandering thoughts based on my love of poetic narratives and nothing more. I highly doubt we’re about to see Cas happy anytime over the next 2 episodes.)
