hi i uh. drank a sinister potion (dr. pepper) on the way to school this morning and the problem with perfection filled my head for the fiftieth time so. i'm here now. soooo uh, warning for a very crazy caffeine induced audhd rant. 👍

i just like.... kinda wanna let u know how much this fic means to me. like fr. like seriously. it means a lot to me. we've been mutuals for a while so i feel like now's def a good time (and a long time coming lmao)

iirc i found ur fic when i was in the danganronpa trenches in like, 2021/2022 i think? it was summer and i had nothing better to do with my free time and i was super bored and ishimondo was my personality and i found it while going thru ao3 and was like "yeah. this sounds cool"

and i did NOT know what i was getting into let me tell you. adored the writing really fast. ur skill level actually blew me the fuck away like. instantly. all the characters were incredibly in character, everything was so detailed and i LOVED the fact that you made your writing very emotion driven. like you wrote a lot with like, exaggerated punctuation and pauses and spaces and stuff that i rarely ever see but i feel like your writing was like, so much better for that??? its something i've started to use in my writing because it just draws you in so much and just. puts you into their shoes almost instantly. like it sounds like you're in their head. like i think like that (got that narrator brain in me) and it was just so cool to see someone write like that. got a lot of good moments

and i honest to god binged that fic because it had me by a chokehold. like i'm talking i barely got sleep because i was so excited to read the next chapter the next day that my body would wake me up earlier. and i'd pull it out and binge the next chapter. and when i got to a point where the chapters where still being updated, i remember checking like. every sunday night or so every week to see if it got updated. so many cliffhangers that i was not normal about..........

and i recommended it to EVERYONE i knew that was into danganronpa. like i did not care if they usually read fanfiction or not i would sit there and go on infodump rants about this gay fanfiction i found on the gay fanfiction site and ik i confused them but like. that was how good it was to me. felt like it was a real book. and not only that i honest to god felt like i was reading about me.

like the way you wrote taka meant and continues to mean so much to me to this fucking day because i rarely ever see characters that are like me, at least in an honest to god way. and i was already connected to taka and loved him but i think you made him feel like an extension of me in a way and it just like. idk. it spoke to me man. ik i sound dramatic but it did.

like an autistic queer kid with a strict parent being thrown into so many situations where you just automatically assume everyone else is watching you, judging you, based on past trauma and experiences and just. at the same time so emotional and passionate and just genuine for lack of a better term. and the panic attacks that were written i actually almost had some during reading it because i felt it. that felt like me honest to god (not a bad thing btw!!! i am ok!! but that's a compliment because that's how accurate it was!!)

and during a time where i was dating people who just. idk its hard to explain. i knew they cared about me but there were so many times where there were disconnects. sexuality and gender (gender's not really a part of the story ik but yk what i mean) was a big one. and i felt how he would feel when mondo wasn't exactly the best when it came to his behaviors and expressions of love.

and now i'm with someone who is like. mondo at all his best moments. and even when he matches mondo's lower ones it feels like, there's more times where we can do what they did in the fic and work through it. be there for each other because even if we're both fucked up yk we can like. work through it. and that's so cool honestly?? its not transactional, it means something. i've felt both sides and it's so. crazy to me. it's just wild.

and while i didn't read a lot of it (mental health was NOT in a space where i could i'm gonna be so real) the other installment, the one where mondo comes over to taka's house and they gotta hide and stuff? i've felt that. god i've felt that. my current boyfriend (also a trans man) and i have had so many times where we've had to act as "friends" and hide our romantic gestures and being so deathly afraid of getting caught yk?

idk this fic made me feel seen, and i wonder if there's like... anyone else that feels that way. idk i feel like their definitely is. and i just kinda wanna like. thank you for writing something that just. made me feel heard in a time when i really really needed it. even if we didn't know each other it felt so wild to have a stranger sit there and give me and indirect hug and let me know that i am not the only guy struggling out there with this stuff. it's changed the way i view myself and how i view the world and it's so cool to me that even fanfiction of all things can do that. that's nuts man. you did that and i really wanna emphasize that you should be proud of that. that's so cool. you're writing is so fucking cool man.

and also another thing i. love. that you also wrote about sex being a form of like. expressing love for some people. i am demisexual so like. seeing a character that seemed to also exhibit that and really only feel and have that strong attraction to someone they love romantically and have a connection with, and do it to let the other person know they love them. it's like. that's cool. that's so cool. i'm shaking you that's so cool /pos

and while i'm not fixated on dr right now (as you can. probably tell. (btw obligatory "watch lego monkie kid but also you do not have to i just wanna let you know its cool" plug because of Tha Autism(tm)), and while my comic i was going to make is on a very long hiatus bc adhd is beating the shit out of me, i really want you to know how much i appreciate this fic and how much it just. lives in my brain. how much it makes me emotional to this day because it spoke to me; some random dude who was just getting out of high school who fucking needed that really really bad. and also i want you to know how excited i was when we become mutuals and i'm really really lucky to have someone so cool as my mutual, and you've become even cooler in my brain now that we're kinda yk. in a vaguely similar circle.

anyways i appreciate you so much!!!! and even if we're in different fandoms and stuff, and even if tpwp is also not being continued/on a hiatus i still appreciate what you did with it, and what you do now. don't understand all the fandoms you post but i got that respect for it. i'm in the corner with pom poms cheering u on.

so um. yeah! that was long. but i'm hyped up on caffeine and neurodivergent so ujhm. yea. hopefully this made sense lmao

Okay, sorry for the late response, I saw this when I got up this morning and needed the day to figure how to respond because this was. So much (in a good way I promise!!!!)

So, first of all, THANK YOU FOR THIS!! It's easy as a fic writer to feel discouraged with your writing, or to feel like you're not as "good" as other people, and it's things like this that remind me that whether or not I'm a "good writer," what I write does matter to people. And that's just... really special to me, so thank you for writing this all. It means so much to me.

I'm glad you like the dramatic pauses and the way I write, though! When I was younger, I always tried to limit doing that sort of thing, since I knew it wasn't considered "good" or "proper" writing. But with TPWP I just... decided to let myself write how I wanted to write and not think too much about it. I wrote TPWP kind of how I think, because I wanted it to feel like it was Taka's thoughts and emotions, even if it wasn't in first person. And I'm really glad that came across!

I've always been really big into psychology and introspection, which is one of the main reasons I write about things like that a lot. I like to get into characters heads and try to figure them out. See what they'd be like if this thing happened, or if this thing hadn't happened, etc. I write about struggles, because I struggled as a kid, but in more quiet ways. I mean, all things considered I had a good life. supportive, loving parents and older brother, good grades, people generally liked me and I never got in trouble. But I was so determined to do well that I psyched myself out. I was terrified of disappointing people and losing what I had, and I crumbled in middle and high school. Luckily I had good parents so I was able to stumble through it, but it always left me feeling isolated, since I could never articulate why I felt so off inside. It wasn't until I took an "abnormal psych" class in college that I even realized I had intense anxiety.

All of this to say that I'm glad I was able to resonate with you through my writing. I could never find the words to articulate myself when I was younger, so I took to writing to try and connect with people, to get a message across. Most of my stories have some form of "moral" or "lesson" that I'm trying to get across, lessons that I had to learn myself growing up. TPWP's was that perfection is impossible and that you have to learn to accept yourself for who you are. Honestly, I put the most of myself into Taka, since while I never had a distant parental figure who wanted me to be absolutely perfect, I was kinda that figure to myself. I wanted so badly to be "perfect" and "the favorite" and when I wasn't, I freaked out. I shut down and couldn't even explain to my parents why. So, with TPWP, I wanted to let other people know that it's okay to just... be you.

I don't know if any of this is making any sense, sorry. I had a long day at work and my head is a bit jumbled. Mostly just... thanks for writing this. Things have been tough lately between school and work, and it's nice to be reminded that my stories do matter to people. I never wanted to be a professional writer, but I did always want to write something that made someone, somewhere, feel something. Hopefully something good, something cathartic.

Oh, and as for the sex thing... that was honestly unintended, ha. But I'm Ace, so to me, that's what sex is. Or what it should be. A way to connect emotionally with your partner above all else. Honestly, the only reason I wrote sex into TPWP was to explore the way it would interact with their friendship, not to be like... sexual, ha. Glad you liked how I wrote it!

Anyway, thanks again for writing this!! And I'm glad we're mutuals too! Yeah, I am part of some interesting fandoms on my main blog, but I'm glad it's not too off-putting, ha. I'll try and check out that show some day, though! I don't have a lot of emotional energy to get into a new show at the moment (as I'm sure some people can understand, since starting a new fandom can be a lot at times), but maybe once (IF) things calm down for me I'll take a look! I have seen a lot of posts about the monkie kid show, not just from you, so it's something I might check out one of these days. I'm mostly waiting for Our Flag Means Death season 2 to air tomorrow so I can get washed away into Pirate Town for the next month or so, while the episodes release. 😅😅😅

Oh, i guess it's a good moment to talk about my Percy Jackson x Danganronpa AU, isn't it ? Or even My SCP au if you have some idea i won't be against it, i have a small Idea for my girl Sakura and a very small Idea for Chihiro but beside that i have nothing. (Well, there's still Taka, Mondo and Peko who are written but they are still in review, i started to think about Taka's early life so it might change from the original one lol) and yeah, i may also want to hear about Patches (that's her name right-)

It's definitely a good time to hear about both! Or whichever you wanna talk about more. And if you wanna hear about Patches, then I can do that! Her stuff is pretty short and I'll try my best to not ramble as much. (I've rambled so much on a Yu-Gi-Oh PowerPoint that I just can't stop.)

'Kay, well...hmmm.

Patches was born, but her parents weren't in the picture as her earlier memories were of the lab. And her entire life was in this lab. Her and group of many others were basically tested on every day. It wasn't clear as to why or what they were researching and experimenting on them as everyone had different experiments to go through. And Patches was tested on being created to be a super weapon that can basically destroy the universe.

Throughout her life she was tested and abused by the scientists there. Everyday it was something awful. And everyday it was something that could either have killed her or just injured her in a way. She hated it. She always found herself daydreaming or looking at books about the outside world. She always dreamed to one day finally break out and live her life as a normal human. She'd name herself, maybe even get a job, find someone and be happy. She dreamed of being someone else, she wasn't OE-256, she was herself.

She wasn't the girl who could one day maybe wipe out humanity. She was...herself.

When she escaped, she couldn't remember what really happened. She remembers the fire. The screaming of terror. The burning and scarring she felt. She can't remember if everyone she helped free got out. Or how many people she killed.

She just remembers seeing the lab crash down and burn away. The awful memories finally being just memories. She finally felt free and safe. Her entire childhood and some of her adulthood was wasted away in there. She was glad to see it fall down. In a hazy daze, she finds herself in a city where she meets a man. They bump into each other and they scramble about. The man notices her scars and starts to fuss over them, much to her irritation. She doesn't want his help. He's some rando who just so happened to bump into her and notice her scars.

It made her feel self-conscious.

It irritated her more.

She then finds herself in his home. She doesn't know what to think. She's worried he might know something and would try to kill her or something. But he's kind and caring. Helping her out with her scars. Newspaper. That's his name. It was odd. But then again, she couldn't say anything. Especially with the name she picked for herself. 'Patches.' She was drawn to the word. It was...an interesting word to her.

She wonders if this is what being normal felt like. Having someone worry about you like this. Not leaving you to die or bleed out that you have to help yourself with whatever materials you could use. As the two grow close, she wonders if she's a danger to him. She's scared to get closer to him as she doesn't know of what she's capable of. But his kind words and worry-free personality makes her worries leave.

As she feels like she shouldn't worry. They were okay after all this time together. But she promised herself to take care of Newspaper and make sure he doesn't get hurt trying to protect her.

When it comes to outfits, she wears mostly a dress shirt with a cardigan and whatever pants she finds. She also wears a t-shirt along with some shorts. The only times she'll wear something else is for her modeling job or when her and Newspaper have to attend a party that they were invited to.

Her hobbies are just messing with Newspaper, eating and watching TV. She's also trying to get into sewing because she really likes looking at videos of people making plushies and other stuff.

She also has a birthday, but I don't remember it because it's been so long since I've actually thought about them djdben.

I feel you so much on the Mondo thing... Where every character falls into some kinda category based on how liked they are (there are the ones everyone likes, ones everyone hates, the underrated characters, etc.), Mondo's sort of floating off in this innocuous void?? Obviously he has a cult following and he has his haters, but most of the fandom just kinda doesn't even care?? It's complete indifference, and the only reason he isn't considered an underrated character is because he's in one of the much more popular ships. Other than some characters from dr3, I kinda consider him to be the MOST underrated character. Because with characters like Hiro and Akane, at least people KNOW they're underrated. People actively look at them and think "there's more to them that we don't get to see", but with Mondo, most of his major lore details are handed to you right in chapter 2. He is made REMARKABLY easy to understand, and I don't consider that to be a writing flaw in the slightest. But I think as a result of this people just look at him, go "alright, I've seen all there is to see", and then move on without much further consideration. Then with Mondo enjoyers themselves, the line between those who like him as an individual versus those who like him as an add-on to Kiyotaka or even Chihiro is clear as day, to the point where you see people get some really surface level characterization wrong (Like I hate to be that guy but people don't make Mondo nearly the level of sopping wet beast roaming around in the middle of the target parking lot all alone as they should). Then the people who actually care about the guy write 90 page essays on him. Like there's no in-between.

YES YES I 100% AGREE!!!

I remember seeing this Instagram post back in 2021 when Danganronpa kinda had that popularity resurgence (aka when I joined the fandom). It was one of those “starter pack”memes and went something like “‘Characters the fandom doesn’t care about unless it’s shipping’ starter pack” and Mondo was part of it. And I no joke thought, “Oh wow, they included Mondo,” like I was completely expecting for him to be overlooked.

It’s rare nowadays to find a character or trial or what-have-you that’s actually underrated when it comes to the mainline DR games. Most that were probably underrated at some point just kept being talked about how underrated they were until they weren’t really considered underrated anymore.

But Mondo is underrated and no one really talks about it because no one cares. At least, outside of his small group of fans.

There’s so much analysis and deep dives you can do with him from masculinity, to negative stigmas, to repressed and untreated mental disorders. Like, he’s one of the few characters who was written to have a mental disorder (ptsd, albeit with some negative stereotypes). He’s a scared kid hiding behind the mask of a fearless leader, and the game does a great job at showing that. But no one talks about it.

And that lack of talk amongst the fandom is what eventually led to the fanon Mondo we have today. No one really wanted to analyze what he brought to the table and so people just started viewing him as the surface level macho bad boy stereotype that he was WRITTEN TO SUBVERT.

I do think that there’s some sort of devolution from that version of him that’s been happening the past couple of years with those fans who would “write 90 page essays of him” coming into the scene, and that’s great. Love that for him. I’m glad that, while he’s not nearly talked about enough, there’s been a slight increase of interest of him as an individual character and not as a ship or foil.

Anyways yeah, “Make Mondo Relevant in the Fandom 2023.” Let’s make it happen.

New Beginnings (Can Be Possible)

Some more Ghost AU fic, related to the Danganronpa IF AU.

When he woke up, the first thing he noticed was that a good chunk of the class wasn't in the nurse office anymore.

Thankfully, he was soon told that his missing classmates were, after breaking in and, rummaging, inside the rooms that the master- no, Junko, locked down to find anything they could use to fight back, and escape, now trying to find Mukuro, who had went somewhere in the building to keep Junko distracted, so they could find a way to escape with her help.

The pain of both the spear that had stabbed him and his memories returning in disorganized clumps was still unbearable, but he still wanted to see Mukuro again, so he immediately pleaded to them to carry him to were everyone else was now.

His classmates, and Utsuro, he had realized belatedly, looked at him with uncertainty, clearly still worried about his injuries, but they still complied with his request, with Kyoko personally taking the role of his crutch, one hand laying his arm around her shoulders and the other carefully situated against his waist, slowly helping him walk through the building until he finally saw everyone else, nervously waiting for Mukuro in the hallway where their rooms were situated.

He was about ready to leave Kyoko's grasp, and amble towards where the rest of his friends were, when he heard the noise of a vehicle approaching, jumping a bit in slight worry, and accidentally making the pain of his injury flare up once more, before he realized that it was Mondo, arriving to the room riding in a outlandishly decorated bike, who was being accompanied by a certain black-haired girl.

Mukuro.

He couldn't help but to feel glad she was ok after what it should have been a grueling fight against her sister, so he just told her that, which made her expression fall into one of remorseful sadness, before she got off the bike that Mondo probably had stolen from Junko.

It was clear that her past betrayal to them was hurting her, and probably she was feeling more alone than ever, now that she was against Junko too, so he talked again, trying in the process to ignore the pain he felt every time he tried to talk:

"Thank you Ikusaba... you saved my life"

His words had apparently cut deep into her, because her expression changed into one of confused shock, before she averted her eyes from him to the floor and let out a simple question from the sea of confused emotions that was now her voice "Why?"

He let out a noise in confusion at her question, which he wasn't sure if she had heard it before she continued "If Kirigiri told you, then you already know what I did, right...?"

Oh yeah, when he recovered consciousness after the impalement, Kyoko brought everyone to speed about what had happened while he was unconscious, including how Mukuro had confessed to her everything Junko and her did to cause the Tragedy and start the killing game.

She had to be seeing herself right now as a traitor and a monster undeserving of mercy nor kindness, but he could see, he could remember, that those thoughts weren't the truth about her, and he had to tell her.

So he did it:

"Well, I guess you're right, but... you also saved my life many times during these past two years... and..." Feeling another pang of pain on his side, he took a deep breath before he continued "You're my friend... we all spent time with each other... It could be great if you could look for a different path... not despair... and if there's any way I can help you, I will..."

"Do you really think I can walk another path at this point?" She immediately asked him, clearly still not trusting herself to feel hope after a life of living in the claws of despair alongside Junko.

It was a hard question to answer, he knew that, but he still had to do it.

So, with a smile on his face, he answered her with the words he told her earlier that day "I don't know what you can do... or ever what I can do... but I think it's more important to look for that path instead of actually finding it"

Once again, his words had broken through Mukuro's cynical barriers, finding their way again to the girl that had been buried under the mask of "the Ultimate Despair Soldier", before pulling her back to the surface.

And, for a moment, he thought that, if he were able to just talk to Junko, maybe he could be able to convince her into stopping all the despair business and just... end this madness.

But, before he could finish voicing those thoughts to Mukuro, the shrill laughter of Monokuma started playing through all the speakers, before Junko started talking to them, finally shedding the disguises she had been wearing these past days.

She told them that, now that the killing game had been ruined and she had been exposed, she will let them do a 'Graduation Exam' that, if it was successfully completed, they would be free to leave to the outside world.

But, if they failed the 'exam', she would erase their memories again, and the killing game would start anew.

Obviously, none of his classmates wanted to go back to that hell, to the point that some of them even started to argue against Junko's assertion that they would have already killed each other if the game had went like she wanted it to go, but she didn't cared about what they thought, she only cared about despair.

So, instead of hearing Kiyotaka's tirade against her, she activated a Monokuma behind Sayaka and and told her something that chilled her to the bone:

"What do you think, Maizono? Do you really think none of you will become a killer?"

After saying those words, Junko then lowered her voice while she kept talking to Sayaka.

He had no idea of what Junko was telling to her in those hushed whispers, but it had to be something bad, because her face blanched up and started trembling the moment the Monokuma opened its mouth again.

He wanted to run towards where the trembling Sayaka was, and kick the Monokuma away from her, but his injury acted up again, making him fall again against Kyoko's side, sight and hearing becoming static for a moment before he could hear her and Mukuro's worried voices and a trail of purple light shining around the edges of his vision.

A trail of purple that soon became Utsuro's face.

He was looking at him from his position over the panicked Mukuro, his expression looking as worried as the ones the girls had, but not saying anything before he turned his head to where Junko was torturing Sayaka, his expression changing once again to something he couldn't completely identify.

There was something strange about Utsuro, he knew, with his knowledge of the killing game, and those memories he had just recovered of the ghost having been his underclassmam before the Tragedy started, but whatever thoughts he had about him were interrupted by the noise of something crashing against the Monokuma, shutting it up.

When he turned his head towards where was Sayaka, he saw that the Monokuma's head had been pulverized by a crystal ball that now laid in pieces.

A crystal ball that had been thrown by Leon.

With her plan to plunge Sayaka into despair having been foiled, Junko went back to warn them about the 'exam' they had to do to escape from Hope's Peak, which they finally saw once Sakura told them that the units she had been fighting in the hallway were acting weird:

Two rows of Monokumas were on either side of the hallway, framing a lone Monokuma at the end of it that had a button that looked like the one he had won, and pressed, the previous day over its head, all of them rigged to explode in 15 seconds for the double purpose of destroying the button and burning alive whoever tried to seize the button before the last Monokuma exploded.

All for the purpose of Despair.

"Knowing how Junko Enoshima is, that Monokuma has to be carrying the real Escape Switch..." He could hear Utsuro say while his classmates argued about who would sacrifice their life to get the button, nodding absentmindedly at him before the two of them were surprised by a familiar girl walking besides him, and situating herself in between the Monokumas:

"I'll do it..."

He screamed Mukuro's name in a panic, but, besides turning her head to the side, he wasn't sure if she had heard him, because her attention immediately went to Sakura, who had put herself between her and the Monokumas to stop her self-sacrificial intentions, and whispered something in her ear before Junko's started to blow up the Monokumas.

Using the first explosions as some kind of signal, Mukuro threw the broken IV stand she had been carrying since she returned towards the Monokuma carrying the Escape Switch, before jumping and using the force of one of Sakura's kicks to propel herself towards the button, ignoring the damage the explosions had to be doing to her body, before she reached the last Monokuma, destroying it before Junko could activate its bomb.

And like that, a second before the 'exam' finished, Mukuro Ikusaba was able to obtain for them the key for their freedom.

They... won.

They actually won.

Mukuro Ikusaba was able to outsmart Junko Enoshima and adquired the tool needed to free Class 78 from the Ultimate Despair's clutches.

But they didn't left immediately, thanks to both the fact that Mukuro and Makoto's injuries still needed to be treated, and that the students wanted to pack both their personal belongings, and things from the school that they could use to survive in the outside world, before leaving.

It took them a while, but, once everyone was ready, Makoto pressed the button, finally opening the doors of the prison that should have been their shelter, and showing them the destroyed world that they had been forced to forget.

Mukuro was the first one who left, having decided to separate from the rest of the class to both protect them, from both Junko, who he was sure would use the data necessary to reverse the memory repression to lure the class to a trap, and the new enemies, both Despair and not, she had made thanks to her actions to both start and end the Tragedy, and to start her new mission to stop the Ultimate Despair.

After a heartfelt goodbye, they all saw how the Ultimate Soldier left to a fate unknown, before the rest of the class also left the building and searched for a new place to live, eventually finding it on a old, dilapidated, apartment building that was close to the school.

The settling of class 78 in the building was done mainly in silence, everyone clearly still trying to process everything that had happened just some hours ago, but he couldn't find in himself any interest to keep watching them work beyond a minute, so instead he decided to stay with Makoto, who had been left in one of the dormitories so he could rest his still tender injuries.

He assumed that the luckster would be sleeping, so he stood at his side, eyes focused on the bandaged injury on his side, before his mind was sent back to the past.

Back to a collapsing building, where he had been left behind by his remaining victims, and the only person who ever loved him was bleeding out on the floor, using whatever strength she still had to beg him to leave the building and live, even if that would doom her to an untimely demise.

For a moment, he couldn't help but to think about how she would be right now, pangs of happiness, pain and anger all flaring in his mind at how she would be living in the shadows of the collapsed society, carrying the curse he had to gave her to save her, and separated from each other until the day she would be given permission to die, before a voice cut through his thoughts, and dragged him back to reality:

"U-Utsuro...?"

Makoto was now looking at him, still in a resting position, but clearly awake.

Did he had become so lost in his own thoughts that he didn't noticed the luckster waking up? Or Makoto was already awake when he arrived, and he didn't even realized it?

Either way, Makoto Naegi was awake and aware of his presence, and it was making him feel very uncomfortable.

So he decided to leave.

"Oh, you're already awake. I'm going to leave now. Bye"

"Wait!" The other boy's shout made him stop and turn around to the image of him clutching his injured side, a grimace on his face, before he started talking to him again "You... you don't have to leave just because I'm awake, Utsuro. Also, I wanted to talk with you about something..."

"About what, Makoto Naegi?" He said after letting out an annoyed huff. He really wanted to leave the room already to be bored elsewhere.

"Well... It's that I just want to know if... if you've been lying to me all this time"

He couldn't help but to shot up his eyebrows at the luckster's words, before answering him "Why do you think that?"

"Because I can remember that your classmates called you 'Maeda', not 'Utsuro'"

That genuinely surprised him, never having expected that the boy in front of him to be so perceptive, a boy who then took advantage of his surprised silence to continue talking "And that's not the only thing I've noticed, Utsuro. First, there was the fact that you knew so much about the killing game, about Enoshima, and how they worked, and then, what I heard you say when I started remembering how we were told about how you and your entire class were supposedly murdered by the Reserve Course once they fell into Enoshima's thrall. Just..."

He then took another pained breath before finishing "Just, tell me the truth, Utsuro"

He didn't wanted to tell him the truth, he didn't found any reason why he should tell him the truth, but the both of them knew that he promised him that he would tell him everything once class 78 was free from Junko Enoshima's killing game.

So he told him everything.

He told him about the power he was cursed to bear since birth, about the greed his existence awoke on everyone who met him, the existential ennui that it rotted his soul with and how he accepted Junko's offer of becoming an agent of Despair in a selfish attempt to feel something again.

He told him about how he then destroyed the futures of so many people all in the name of Despair, eventually finishing his crusade of madness with dooming all his... classmates to their deaths through a disguise and a killing game no different from the one Junko tried to make with them.

And finally, he told him how he let himself die after the three last remaining members of class 79 fought against him, and passed the last remnants of his curse to the pitiful girl who ruined her own life in a attempt to repay him for the way he saved her from the hell that was once her life.

By the time he finished telling him about the monster he was, Makoto had grown unnervingly quiet, a blank expression on his face and his eyes looking down to his hands, that were now folded over his lap.

He was sure that Makoto would hate him now, now that he knows about everything he did under Junko's employ, so he got ready to leave the room, again, only to be interrupted once more by the luckster's voice:

"Wait!"

What he wanted now?, he couldn't help but to think in infuriation before turning back again to glare a hole through Makoto's head, something that made the man stiffen for a moment before he regained his composure, and talked again:

"Why are you trying to leave again?"

For a moment, he was sure he felt his eye twitch. What the hell was wrong with this guy? "Didn't you heard what I just told you? I helped Junko Enoshima with starting the Tragedy just because I was bored and I wanted some stimulation, I killed all of my classmates, your underclassmates, in a killing game made with the express purpose of give Junko Enoshima the best ideas to force you and your friends to kill each other, and I manipulated and hurt the only person who genuinely cared about me into walking to her own death. I'm a monster, why don't you hate me?"

Makoto didn't answered immediately at his rant, just sitting on the bed all quiet and still, and blinking at him in confusion, making him think that his naive brain just didn't wanted to process all the awful truths he had told him, until he finally answered:

"Well, that's because I don't hate you. Like yeah, I'll never approve of the things you did to help Enoshima with her plans, but I don't think you're a irredeemable monster, Utsuro"

It was official: Makoto Naegi was an absolutely naive idiot, and it was pissing him off "How many times I'm going to have to tell you, I-"

"Sorry for interrupting you, Utsuro, but please answer me one thing: If you truly were the despairful monster you say you were, then why you saved Akane Taira's life?"

Makoto's question immediately cut through the anger he was feeling, leaving behind silenced confusion.

Why he saved Akane Taira's life at the end of his own?

Since the moment he realized that he had become a ghost, he thought that he was sure he knew the reason why he did that, but now, thanks to that question, he found himself unable to believe his own conviction.

Why he did that?

Taking advantage of his surprised silence, Makoto continued "If you really were just as bad as Enoshima, then you would have left Taira to die from her injuries alongside you, instead of spending your last moments alive trying to save her. Hell, if you were as bad as you're saying you were, you would have made sure that the last survivors of Class 79 couldn't escape from the collapsing building, just like Enoshima tried to do with us hours ago"

He wanted to refute all of the luckster's arguments, he really wanted to do it, but he found himself unable to fight against his words, all the counter-arguments he could think just dying on the tip of his tongue, leaving him completely silent in front of an expecting Makoto.

It took him a while, but he was eventually able to answer the luckster's words with one question of his own:

"What's the point of all this?"

Makoto stood quietly for a moment, pondering his answer, before he talked again "Well, I guess I just want to help you"

"Helping me with what?" He couldn't help but to ask to what Makoto said.

"With becoming a better person, I guess..."

That was the boy's answer, and he couldn't help but to think back to when everyone was still trying to escape from Junko's killing game.

And what Makoto told to Mukuro once they found each other again.

He wasn't using the same words, but the answer he just gave to his question carried the same meaning as what he told her back then:

"I believe in you, and I believe that you can change for the better, even if you yourself can't believe in your own inherent goodness"

Once again, he couldn't help but to see her on Makoto.

And he couldn't help but to remember again the words he told to the silence that surrounded him and Makoto's unconscious body when Mukuro left them on the nurse office, that he stupidly hoped that Akane could somehow hear wherever she was now:

"I guess this is my chance to atone, right?"

They were a simple string of words that weren't supposed to carry any meaning for him, having said them in a moment of emotional distress that shouldn't have ever happened, caused by memories that shouldn't even matter for him.

But they ended up mattering, somehow.

The path of redemption was one that he spent time and time again believing that he wouldn't ever be able to cross thanks to his many misdeeds, to the point that he accepted death under the belief that his soul was too rotten and corrupted to deserve the light of another day, but, in the span of one simple day, a disappointing soldier of Despair turned to Hope, and a unlucky but fortunate boy, proved him wrong with their actions alone.

There was still a way for him to leave this path of Despair, and to make amends for all the horrible things he did in life.

And a part of him was too scared to accept it.

Too scared, and too guilty, to accept the consequences of his actions.

To accept the possibility that he would never be forgiven for the atrocities he committed to finally feel alive.

But accepting that would be people that would never forgive hin for what he did was still a part of the path of atonement, and, in the depths of his broken and dark soul, he knew that.

So, once he left those thoughts to rot in the depths of his mind, he looked at the kindhearted hazel-eyed man looking back at him and made his decision:

He will also walk through the hard, and painful, path of redemption.

Just like Mukuro, and Akane, did before him.

So, with the sight of the lucky boy extending a hand towards him, and giving him a soft smile, he gave his first shaky step towards his second chance to live.

I haven't posted about attending a local anime con in quite a few years now. But every time I go to one, I'm always on the lookout for representation from my faves — merch or cosplay or artwork or something based on Danganronpa, Future Diary, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, etc. Those are probably still my biggest three faves after all these years.

AS SUCH: Above are pics of Danganronpa merch/art/crafts/etc that I found for sale on the vendor floor this year! I also saw two DR cosplayers (a Toko and a Mondo).

All told, this was a better showing than usual! DR representation in booths had been shrinking at my area's primary anime con ever since 2017, but we suddenly have a resurgence on our hands courtesy of this brand-new secondary anime con in town. (Yeah, this show — "Planet Anime" — was a brand-new thing this year.)

Weirdly, I found PMMM/Magia Record representation to be at an all-time low for my city's cons. Zero cosplay and - for real - only FOUR pieces of merch total at all booths combined. Given that we're on the cusp of an all-new movie AND still in the midst of multiple manga, that seemed odd to me. And for the first time, I found literally zero Future Diary/Mirai Nikki representation. Actually, nothing from mangaka Sakae Esuno of ANY kind. Which = sadness, but I guess this day had to come eventually. (Since I was only present at one day out of the three-day convention, I'll take it on faith that there was probably a Yuno cosplayer out there somewhere — that's always been a constant at these events. I felt your lingering presence, my friend... whoever you are. :P)

There was no sign of ANY love for Master Detective Archives: Rain Code just yet! I suppose it IS only a few months since it came out, though. Maybe next time... or maybe it needs some more adaptions/merch?

I did find a lot of artwork/crafts for sale related to Fire Emblem, which you'd think would be satisfying given my recent passion for "Engage." But unfortunately, literally none of what I saw was related to Engage... or any game/character in the franchise other than Three Houses. It was WALL-TO-WALL Three Houses stuff and NOTHING else. (Unless you count Smash Bros art that happened to have the FE fighters in it.)

These shows are always CHOCKABLOCK with stuff for whatever is the massively popular anime of the moment. And if you know me, you know I don't usually care about the popular anime of the moment. :P So yeeeaaah. I'm always there desperately hunting down the stuff I love hidden in the cracks between all the things I DON'T love. Because the whole place was FULL of merch and cosplay and artwork for stuff like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen and the still-huge My Hero Academia; stuff like that. SO: Anime I found either off-putting or kinda bland or which eventually drove me away over time (respectively, in that order).

What are your Top Five Ships of All Time that you can Scream (TM) about and why?

All time? Of All Time???? OOOOOH you are making me choose! This is tough, but an exciting ask! Thank you so much, friend!!! I will list them in reverse order, from number 5 to number 1!! (as always, this is just a list based on my current interests, and it could change in the future!)

5. Brawler/Hoodlum from Akudama Drive. Listen, listen. These two? They are in love. So clearly in love. Brawler is Constantly showing off for Hoodlum, and Hoodlum blushes??? When he's talking with Brawler???? Excuse me?????? I 10000% believe Brawler knew Hoodlum stretched the truth with his amount of years he owed the system, but he took One (1) look at Hoodlum's pretty eyes and went "yeah that's fine he's pretty I want to keep him around I will humour him" and that was IT. (I could also talk about the scene with the bridge but I WILL NOT for reasons😭😭😭 He's resting. Just resting.) This one comes out at number 5 because while I love it and could easily go on and on and on about it, I haven't talked about it as much or as often as the others on this list.

4. Mondo Oowaa/Kiyotaka Ishimaru from Danganronpa. These two. THESE. TWO. Ugh. I love them so much. Mondo is MY SON. He's just so...precious. And so is Taka. I love them both and I think their dynamic is very sweet. I think they are very similar to Brawler and Hoodlum in some ways, but obviously not exactly the same. I do love how they bonded over a mutual respect for each other that came from competition. I also will cry every time I watch Mondo's execution, and every time Taka ends up murdered. Pain. I live for the AU where they are both alive and healthy and able to fall in love and live happily ever after. This ship is at number four because I did settle down a lot after my initial playthrough of the game and while I can definitely scream about them at any given time if prompted, I don't search them out as actively as I used to in fanfiction or fanart.

3. Jade Leech/Floyd Leech/Azul Ashengrotto from Twisted Wonderland. This OT3 is honestly addicting to talk about for me. I love them. They're three of my favourite characters in the game, and I really find their dynamics fascinating. They have this incredible trust with each other, they know each other so well, and they support each other. Also I am *here* for the Mafia theme. Love that so so so much. Honestly, over the past few days I don't think I've shut up about them in our DMs and texts.

2. GrimmIchi from Bleach. Honestly, I had to give Grimmjow and Ichigo one of the top two spots. I mean, honestly, I'm one of the co-writers for a blog *dedicated* strictly to GrimmIchi (though I haven't written anything there in a long while...ooops). I have Many Many Many thoughts about them and I love to yell about them. It's very hard to get me to stop once you get me going, and it's so easy to get me going. Just ask @backwardshirt

Kalim/Idia from Twisted Wonderland. I mean. It's not hard to figure out, I'm sure, lol. I talk about them a lot, and I make a lot of posts about them. I love to discuss different dynamics, different possible aus, and I have written several one-shots and short scenes about them now, as well as a multi-chaptered fic centered around them as a pairing (and there will be more to come!!!). I love them and I will take any and all opportunities to shout about them. They are so cute; the introvert and the extrovert, the grumpy rain cloud and the sunshine beam. I love that dynamic with my entire soul. I can't help but be drawn to them. They got that Sun and Moon dynamic. Both of them have such complex emotions, and I think both of them struggle with conveying what they feel; just in totally different ways. I love them so much!!!!!!!!!!

How would kiyotaka act around other classes? (In hopes peak)

Does he ever get caught and then released bc politicians and government officials come and get him?

Attention: I’m using the fabricated pasts of the V3 students as their real pasts. Spoilers from Danganronpa Killing Harmony, if you want a spoiler free version, feel free to ask.

For most members of the other classes Kiyotaka is just the a little bit Hall Monitor whom keeps the Hope‘s Peak Students out of trouble. Unless he had to help them Personally at some point. I mean, there’s a reason that later on he is called Mom in the class chat.

So.. he probably already used his connections to put the dad of Kazuichi Souda behind prison bars, threatening to kill him if he ever said something mean to his son again.

Befriended Kokichi and D.I.C.E and as a result probably taught them a few things about taking care of themselves. To his initial dismay that led the prankster kids to often troll the Crazy Diamonds, until Kiyotaka made it clear to them that the Bikers were no danger to anyone.

Also he tries to teach Nagito some self confidence and obviously get him some psychological help. Even if he was hit by a truck once or twice as a result. At least his connection to Nagito helped him to improve his protective gear greatly. He can now get hit by a truck without even getting a scratch.

Kiyotaka also led a negotiation with Fuyuhiko about Yasuhiro‘s debt. Intimidating him and earning his respect. Even if the Yakuza kindly requested him to stay away from his clan. (Meanwhile he waits for the right opportunity to recruit Kiyotaka, in turn Kiyotaka patiently waits for the day he is ordered to kill Fuyuhiko)

Plus he often scolds Hiyoko for bullying others.

So the students of the Hope’s Peak (other classes) see him as either one of those two things: Mom/Psychologist or very uptight Hall Monitor. Later on (when he is in the middle of the second year it’s only Mom to most of the students, besides Fuyuhiko and Peko who refer to him as useful threat)

And i should not forget to mention his special relationship with Maki, who may be an assassin too, but was, unlike him forced into it. He even convinced her that she doesn’t have to continue being an asassin if she doesn’t want to (He even offered her to take out the cult that had forced her into becoming an assassin, an offer that she gladly took) Kiyotaka is also mainly responsible for the fact that she could stay in Hope’s Peak even after giving up both ultimates (it’s stated that while she keeps the orphanage she grew up in running, she wasn’t even fond of children at that time)

It basically went like this:

A Teacher of the 79th: Introduce yourself to your seniors

Maki: I‘m Maki the Ultimate Child caregiver

Kiyotaka: *thinking* No you’re not.

Let’s just say at some point he had to help all of the students at least once, leading his plan to stay unnoticed in Hope’s Peak to fail in every single way possible.

So the students either love him or tolerate his very existence for the sake of keeping this school standing. Meanwhile he laments his fate of being noticed. He just wants to gather enough evidence to murder Junko and get his degree.

Kiyotaka: what did i do to make this children stick on me, like i was their mother?

Me: Maybe the things you did for them?

Kiyotaka: i was merely showing them some basic Human decency.

Maki, Kokichi, Souda, Nagito and others: Something we were never shown before, Mom.

It becomes even better when he is buried in gifts on mothers day. Also Mondo getting a cup with „a dad“ written on it on father’s day.

Kiyotaka getting caught on a mission would indeed be funny. But his professionalism wouldn’t allow it unless being caught was also part of the mission. Like being a distraction for another assassin trying to kill an government official.

Like, could imagine the following scenario:

Some other assassin: *Wants to kill some government official, but there isn’t enough evidence to prove them guilty*

Kiyotaka: *befriends said assassin, saying that they have the same goal*

Kiyotaka: *gathers evidence, fabricates evidence*

Kiyotaka & some other assassin: *get caught because Kiyotaka already handed in the evidence*

Unknowing police officers: *arrest both*

And then sometime later an government official will explain the very confused Police officers why they have to let Kiyotaka go immediately. Then everyone apologizes to Kiyotaka and the random government official drives him straight home (or on special occasions like this, they‘ll invite Taka to grab some food. Like:

The fucking Prime minister: Let him go.

Police officer: sir, he tried to kill you.

Prime minister: No he didn’t

Prime minister: i know it sounds confusing but he really saved my life there

Prime minister: *hands them the evidence*

Police officers: *look at the evidence, apologize at least a thousand times*

Primer Minister *to Taka*: Now Kiyo, are you in the mood for some food?

Kiyotaka: sure, thank you sir.

Kiyotaka’s order is either a Happy Meal with black coffee or a long subway sandwich with cookies.

Is anyone here confused by Kiyotaka’s age?

Yes the other assassin, but only for the first five minutes.

Can I Survive Trigger Happy Havoc? (Collab with Total Drama gen 1 and THH cast)

This is my simulation where I’m a protag in a collab Danganronpa with Total Drama gen 1 and Trigger Happy Havoc casts. Enjoy

“Tyler holds an activity meeting. It goes smoothly”

Day 2

Why am I talking to Owen?

“Sayaka and Lindsay carry a big poison to the closet”

You heard that right. That makes no sense. Since when was poison big?

That’s the biggest concern there

“Sayaka and Izzy exercise together”

Bonding

“Kyoko finds a poison on the floor, but doesn’t tell anyone”

Where is everyone getting poison from?!

Watch the murder weapon NOT be poison after all of this!

“Leon tries to cheer Lindsay up”

“Harold does laps around the library and is not tired at all”

Oh I should really write more of my Danganronpa s/i fanfic, I actually do have a couple chapters of them at the school! My s/i is so fucking unimpressed with Makoto, it's hilarious. They've got that middle-school 2000s 'ew, boys' thing going on. Have I mentioned they're a little bit the worst?

As far as ships go, they pretty quickly pick up on the chemistry between Aoi and Sakura! We love a sporty couple that does gym bonding.

I'm pretty focused on pairing up Byakuya and Taka, because both of those boys need a vibe check. And everyone knows romance is the way to solve any problems!! (>w<)

Byakuya OBVIOUSLY needs a firm hand so I'm thinking about Celeste for him but also Celeste is pretty and deserves someone who is equally pretty and I'm not sure Byakuya qualifies (but maybe she could dress him up a little?)

Taka needs someone to shake up that black-and-white worldview so Mondo is the obvious choice!! (I literally wrote my s/i shipping that into my fic before I got to their whole bonding section so I'm very smug)

Chihiro is very sweet but shy so I'm thinking maybe Junko could be a cute fit. Get her out of her shell, into some more daring clothes, out on the town, yassify and give her some confidence girl!!!

My s/i is very obsessed with pairing up Junko because she is SO COOL (not to brag but she was my favourite character from the introductions, the moment I saw her smile I was like 'oh that is a little bit too wide and I think I am in love') but I switch who I ship her with every day because she's just got so much potential chemistry with everyone!!! Definitely no other reasons

Their three school priorities are: get paper and pens so that they can make fan content, socialize with their classmates so that they can unlock more Lore(tm), and figure out how to redeem Monokuma through the power of love.

Their first motive video from Monokuma reveals that there's been a new season of Supernatural and just includes a bunch of cliffhanger moments to make them REALLY want to kill someone and get out to see the rest of the season, but they're a good little fangirl and they do not need canon content! They can get by on fanfics alone!

Computer cafe chihiro x aoi fanfic

Hey this is a continuation of danganronpa reunion. Read Aoi’s section before reading this. Although this isn’t my first fanfic this is one of my first tries at a longer one( Contains spoilers for danganronpa 1 chapter two)

Tap tap tap! The sounds of keyboard typing could be heard from Chihiro’s computer. As chihiro practiced and practiced typing away at home, he looked over what he coded. He noticed mistakes… amateur, rookie mistakes he shouldn’t have made. He looks at them wondering how he could make such foolish mistakes but deep down he knows.

It was a day or two ago when he had confessed everything, every secret he was holding onto. His secret about his gender, and his love for aoi. Ah yes, he asked aoi, mondo and Sakura to train him to become stronger a long time ago… and there he developed that love. He’d remember how he confessed to feeling weak to her, and how aoi reassured him that he was one of strongest people she knew.

The memories always made him smile. Ping! He jumped hearing the sound of a notification on his phone. Sighing he closed his laptop with shakey hands and checked his phone.

The text message read. Aoi: hey chihiro! You know that confession thingy you did last night! And how I had to think about it? Well im ready to tell you how I feel about it! We should meet to talk about it! He nervously typed back “um ok… I know this computer cafe… you wanna go there? They have doughnuts.” Despite her only taking a few seconds to reply it felt like the longest seconds of his life! Aoi: “pfft is this your way of bribing me to say yes to your love confession?Anyways yeah that’s sounds great let’s meet there for lunch!”

He put his phone down his face as red as a tomato. He shakely goes to his closet looking between the clothes. His inner thoughts nagged him… he couldn’t decide if he should go in his skirt or not. Sure his classmates knows he’s a boy now… but what if someone in the restaurant says he’s weak? What if aoi realizes there right? What if aoi hates him after this? He shakily breathes deciding on the skirt hoping she understands.

Timeskip.

He nervously waited at the table tapping his foot. Then he saw her the joyful athletic he fell in love with. She sits down with a wide smile. “Hey chihiro glad you could make it!” He looks for any signs of crushing disappointment, he finds none. “Uhm hey aoi…” him waiting for the answer to his confession, cranked up his awkwardness to a eleven. Aoi chuckled and said “you know the best part about doughnuts? The glazing! The glazing is delicious! Without the glazing it’s incomplete…” chihiro tilted his head wondering why she was talking about this. Aoi spoke up explaining “you see chihiro you’re the glazing and im the doughnut! Do you understand…” chihiro mumbled “not particularly No…” aoi laughed while ruffling his hair saying “it means I like you too doofus!” Chihiro’s face turns red again as he giggles saying “hah you’re bad at analogies…” “oh shush you now let’s eat…”

Time skip

It’s been a few months since chihiro and aoi started dating, today they were planning on going on a swimming date… as they arrived she saw something off about chihiro… a dark anxiety stewing within him… she gently asked “hey glazing is everything ok?.” Chihiro blushed at the nickname but he still looked anxious and nervous… he muttered quickly “this will be my first time in a public pool since I can’t even remember… what if when you see me in my swim trunks…I… I’m afraid you won’t like me anymore…” aoi frowned sadly and spoke softly “hun… you could be the most muscular or least muscular guy in the world and I’ll still find you beautiful… we don’t have to go if you don’t want too…” chihiro looks down for a sec…before looking up with a face of determination… no words needed to be said the point was made… he wanted to try and go in the pool… aoi smiled her heartwarming smile and kissed the boy on the cheek before walking inside.

As Chihiro walked into the public pool house thoughts raced through his head, if he could really go through with this, then he remembers why he was doing this… all the reasons why… for himself, for aoi, for his confidence… for everything. He changed into his light blue swim trunks and slowly entered the public pool … his anxiety told him aoi would leave him once she saw his body… as if knowing exactly what was going on in her partner’s head she uttered the words Chihiro will never forget… “you’re the most amazing thing I ever laid my eyes on…” that one beautiful statement reminded him why he loved this swimmer beauty.

in the case that he was even stricter:

he’d prefer to be around you because he believes the best way he can make sure you stay out of trouble is to make sure you don’t get into any in the first place
