Finished the first 8 episodes of Stardurst Crusaders, I like journaling my thoughts as I watch so here they are:

The switch from BT to SC is really jarring. It feels like I'm watching an alternate universe a lot of the time. I think if I could rewrite one thing for the first two parts I'd get rid of hamon in favor of stands, stands are better as a magic system for me personally.

I'm really mixed on Joseph. I don't get why they changed the fun loving part of his personality, It would have contrasted well with the rest of the crew. I like his stand, he has used strings and ropes a lot of times before, it's versatile, suits him well. Also connects with Holly's stand.

I thought him being unbelievably racist was pretty funny. Seems in character tbh.

And uhh there were some situations where hamon could have easily fixed it, but we almost never see Joseph use it.

Jotaro is not... the most interesting character but he doesn't hamper my enjoyment of the show or anything. His solution to a problem is usually pretty simple, I actually kind of like that. (Because one issue i have with the first two parts is how contrived the fight scenes can get. What's more annoying is that the show thinks it's being clever. The fight scenes in CS are better written imo.)

Jotaro's personality meshes well with the rest of the cast.

I love Jotaro's (And Star Platinum's!) design. Something about it really clicks with me. It's the main reason why I like him. Jotaro's hat that blends into his hair, brightly colored shirt under his school uniform -which he has modified with chains and two colorful belts- all work great together. I also like what they did with his eye shape.

I don't know why I like Star Platinum so much though. His wild hair and the crown that puts his eyes in shadow is really cool.

Advol MY MAN. I think his design is my favourite outside of Jotaro's. He is definitely the knowledgable one of the group. The way he delivers expesitions never feels jarring to me. He hasn't done much outside of the early episodes, I'm hoping he gets to do some more stuff later. Also his stand is amazing. Ultra HD Blaziken.

Polnareff is ok. I like him. I like his fight with the doll stand thing. His stand is pretty cool, I like fencing. He is the funniest out of everyone in the cast so far. Most of the jokes with him landed for me. He is a bit arrogant but he also respects his opponents.

Kakyoin is probably my fave out of the main 5. I think my favourite scene so far is when Jotaro removes the flesh spider thingy from his brain. It's moreso a Jotaro scene, i mean, he puts his life on danger just to save a person who tried to kill him hours earlier. You can tell how bad Kakyoin feels about the whole situation, you can see him tearing up.

I also like the scene where the group tells Polnareff to offer Anne (the little girl) to stay with them without wounding her ego too much, since they know she doesn't have a penny on her. Polnareff of course calls her stinking poor and a freeloader. Everyone in the group is like "goddamit" while Kakyoin laughs in the background lol.

He definitely has something to hide, I can't really shake that feeling. Probably a tragic backstory but with the way ep 8 ended it might be something else.

Hermit Purple calling him a traitor probably has to do with the new stand user Dio sent (presumably). I still trust him. I don't think he was Dio's servant all this time.

Speaking of Anne, I like her actually. I was surprised too. I thought she was gonna be irrelevant like Poco (the kid from part 1). Her interactions with the main cast is really fun, it reveals a lot about them. She isn't annoying, I like having her around because she isn't on every scene. She shows up when she needs to.

I think it would be for the best if she stayed on Singapore, she probably will.

Some other things I wanna mention:

It think it would be cool if some of the stands had a lil bit of personality. Not like a separate conciousness or anything. Just some moments. It would give stands a fun lil dynamic with their users.

Some of the stand encounters are not really necessary tbh. They drag a bit too much.

These are just my first impressions :D. There is still a lot of episodes to go... 40 to be exact.

i was tagged in a different (shorter) version of this awhile ago and i had it all answered and then accidentally backed out of it just as i was about to post 🙃 so this time i did it in google docs. thank you @saintgarbanzo for tagging me! deepest apologies to everyone for how long this is. i tend to go on.

favorite food dim sum. shrimp rice rolls drowned in sweet dim sum soy sauce foreverrrrr.

favorite color green, pink. i think i’m really just a very saturated color person. neons. jewel tones. love them.

song stuck in your head for reasons unknown - the killers. they bring fans up on stage to play the drums with them when they play it on tour and i watched so many of them last night. my favorites are kyle, from their scotland show (which @wolfpants will probably appreciate) and katie from manchester (brandon calls her casey, but there was a fairly credible article that identified her). but there are so many and you should look them all up!! i clap and cheer at the end of every single one.

last thing you googled "how much is a steinway” i cannot play piano, nor do i want one. i just couldn’t remember if they’re in the $50k or $100k range (probably could get an old used one for $50k if you looked, but starting around $70k depending on model. and the sky’s the limit.)

dream trip a trip that literally will only exist in my dreams is one i was supposed to take before the panini ruined everything. visiting my brother in japan. i would stop in singapore for a week first, and then go visit him and we’d maybe go on a road trip together. he’s moving back here in the spring, so it can’t happen, but i did get to see him and take a mini american road trip so thats okay. other places: italy, hong kong, taiwan, various american roadtrips, a house in the country or next to lake with all the people i love most in the world.

last book you read uhhhh this is very embarrassing. i have not read a complete book in the longest time. but the last book i started is george saunder’s A Swim in a Pond in the Rain

last book you enjoyed i was enjoying the saunders book. brain just does not cooperate.

last book you hated reading i’d have to have read something to hate it

favorite thing to cook/bake either things that are low effort, high reward (my favorite brownie recipe), or things that are high effort to make, which makes it very expensive to buy or source, so i must supply it for myself. the pinnacle of this for me are canneles. my favorite pastry ever, especially fresh. i think i will go make myself some chocolate cake now tho.

favorite craft to do i’ve been very into knitting since i started last year. so far i’ve completed: a scarf for myself, a hat and scarf for my friends’ toddler, a shawl for my mom, a hat for me. working on: a shawl for me, a sweater for me, a cowl for a friend.

most niche dislikes the phrase “have a good one” feels too vague for me. though i’ve mellowed on it somewhat over the years. i hate bell peppers. i think they ruin anything they’re in. traffic lights on roads where the speed limit is 40+ mph. (which is like in many places in the US, but god, it’s horrible trying to stop in the right time/place for the red at that speed without slamming the brakes.)

opinion on circuses i don’t know enough about present day circuses to have an opinion, tbh. might have to go change the “last thing you googled” answer shortly.

Do you have a sense of direction and if not what’s the worst way you’ve gotten lost? i think i do! i don’t think i’ve ever gotten lost real bad, but i’ve been unable to find something and had to wander. i was in shanghai for an overnight layover and made the mistake of leaving the airport without getting cash. you couldn’t buy metro tickets without cash and we needed to get to our hotel. it was about 9pm. i wandered around the airport train station looking for an atm google maps was telling me was nearby while my dad waited with our luggage. couldn’t find it. had to find the nearest bank. jammed my card in the wrong slot and almost lost it inside the machine. a pair of nail clippers in my backpack saved me. i managed to use them like tweezers to pull the card out. finally got money. but on top of that, uh, let’s say the airplane food was not agreeing with me. so. it was a difficult hour for me. i never travel without nail clippers now.

last show you watched gamechanger, a game show where the game changes every time. it’s on dropout.tv and you should look up clips on youtube if you need a laugh.

currently watching nothing, but probably the sandman is next on my list.

🧳 - What countries have they been to? They've both been to see extended family in Japan, but other than that didn't do any international travel growing up because their family didn't have a lot of money. The last time the two of them went to Japan they made a little trip of it and went to the Philippines and South Korea after which was a fun boys' trip. Eric has a girlfriend in Kiribati so he's been out there to see her. Now that Ryan's all ~fancy~ he's traveled more. The chef he apprenticed under got invited to a chef's summit in Singapore and took Ryan along with him. Then when Ryan's restaurant got its first michelin star Ryan celebrated by taking himself on a solo trip to Milan because he'd always wanted to go eat and shop there. He doesn't have an apprentice but he thinks if he did he'd wanna take them somewhere like he got to do. 🎶 - What’s a song they really like? This song was in the episode and they both love it :) ☕ - Coffee or tea? Eric: Coffee - latte Ryan: Coffee - black 👪 - What’s their relationship with their parents like? Good question lol. Ryan has never had a great relationship with his parents, especially since they are a family that doesn't really talk about things. He was a bad kid - he was not great in school, he got in trouble, he got in fights, he was defiant and disrespectful and they never did anything to figure out why and instead just focused on Eric because he was the golden, well behaved child and Ryan was the lost cause. So there's tension there. He was very depressed and struggling with his identity and feeling lost, and because they never tried to understand him he feels like it's because they didn't care. In reality they're extremely proud of him and his restaurant and the name he's made for himself, but there's a lot of resentment on both ends that can't heal if they don't sit down and talk. Eric's kind of the mediator. He definitely sees the favoritism as much as Ryan does, so even though his relationship with their parents is good, he feels bad being so close with them because it feels like he's betraying Ryan in a way. He always wants to take Ryan's side but it's complicated because tbh Ryan is wrong a lot of the time lol. He delivers a lot of messages between them. Like when Ardor got a Michelin star, Ryan complained to Eric that their parents had never asked to eat there, so they must not be that proud. And then Eric talked to their parents and they complained that Ryan had never invited them, so he must not want them to come lmao. He's kinda stuck in the middle because he loves his parents but is very loyal to Ryan.

Aja's been all over! She has been to every continent except for Antarctica. The list is long, but her top 5 so far are: Morocco, South Africa, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Thailand. She's definitely a tropical gyal lol

Do you know what the most common bird is in your area? We have many species of sparrows that you’ll find regardless of where you are in the country, but we only ever use the collective term ‘maya’ for all of them.

What last made you feel ecstatic? Yoongi’s tour. My friends and I have been planning our game plans to fly out to Bangkok, Jakarta, or Singapore in the last 24 hours – it’d really depend on where we’d manage to secure tickets, and if we get to secure tickets. We’re also considering Seoul as an extreme last resort, but I want to avoid it as much as possible because visa work is too much work that tbh I’m not willing to go through at this point. In any case...why on earth did they not book a show in Manila :/

What would make you feel happiest right now? Magically getting slots for Yoongi’s concert.

How many teeth have you had extracted? A couple. I have a third one also due but I’ll save that for when it starts hurting.

Do you ever read magazines? I never buy physical copies anymore but if I come across an online article that I’m interested in, then I do read it from start to end.

What is something you've been reflecting on? What I can do to be a better leader for my associates.

What's something you like and dislike about the town you live in? I like that it has all the establishments and stores you’ll also find in Metro Manila without ever having to be in Metro Manila, so it’s super convenient. Dislike... there’s no culture, no nightlife. There’s nothing here that you’ll ever be like, “I drove all the way here for this” for.

What's a Halloween movie that you enjoy? Scream is a good example. I’m not always in the mood for jumpscares (like Paranormal Activity) or visual-centric horror (like The Ring), so Scream hits that perfect middle ground where I don’t feel like hiding under a blanket every 3 seconds. And gore is always a good idea, so.

Would you say you're more confident now than you were 5 years ago? Oh for SURE. I had zero confidence when I was 20! I struggled at making friends, was grossly reliant on my girlfriend at the time, and never raised my hand to speak in class. But my job has since been able to challenge me to push my own limits and lead virtual calls and step up during pitches and things like that, so it’s been a complete 180º switch from 2018.

Have you ever or would you try carrot bacon? I have no idea what that is but I’d also try anything once without having to Google them.

What's the last thing you purchased that was frozen? Ice.

Would you ever walk a runway if given the opportunity? I’ll pass. Doesn’t sound interesting.

When did you last do something that scared you? Last month, after Seonho’s fanmeet. My phone died the moment I started the car to drive back home and I was coming from Pasay (aka completely un-fucking-familiar with the place), so I had to drive entirely from memory. The drive itself wasn’t too scary because I figured I could always ask around for directions – I was honestly more scared of the possibility of my mom trying to call me and the call not connecting because of my dead phone and then her freaking out and thinking of the worse haha. Miraculously enough, she never checked up on me once that night.

What is something that you're curious about? My dad’s work. He works at a cruise liner and is based overseas, so save for the one time he took me to his kitchen when I went on a cruise, I actually have zero clue what he does on a normal day. I think being a chef is super admirable so it’d be cool to shadow him for a day.

What time do you usually eat breakfast? The more appropriate question at least for me would be if I even eat breakfast lol, to which the answer is no. I do make a cup of coffee before I start work, and I get around to that by 9.

What is something you done as a child that you would never do now? Be too shy to ask to go to the restroom and preferring to pee through my clothes altogether instead of having to speak up.

What's been your favorite memory of 2022? Talking to Kimi and saying my I love yous, thank yous, and goodbyes the night before he passed. By that point he hadn’t eaten in the last 3 days and I just knew he wasn’t going to be around in the next 24 hours, so I grabbed the chance to have a 1-on-1 with him once everyone in the house was asleep.

When were you last inside a tall building? Last Thursday, at a hotel for an event.

Is it currently quiet in the room you're in? Nah, my aircon is loud as all hell and I also have the TV on.

Is there someone you can honestly say you hate or have hated? I’ve held feelings of hatred for a number of people, but it usually eventually fizzles out to a perpetual milder state of dislike.

What's currently on your mind? That I really wanna start eating these pretzels beside me right now.

Would you consider yourself to be a messy person? I’m responsibly messy, if we wanna make that a thing hah. I can be very cluttered with my stuff but I always know where every single thing is.

Would those closest to you say you talk too much or not much at all? They’d probably tell you I’m right in the middle. I get self-conscious once I feel like I’ve been blabbering and will usually stop from there.

Do you need to apologize for something or are you waiting on an apology? I always feel like apologizing to my teammates for being super tense at work. Idk why I care so much about my job lol. What's something you strongly believe in? Continued from the other night. That everyone is just like anyone else. Makes it easier for me not to get scared of higher-ups at work or high-profile clients or clients who think they’re hot shit.

Do you have a dream that is close to being accomplished? KIND OF??? I MIGHT SEE YOONGI??? WE’LL SEE.

Would you say you're in a good place mentally? Sure! For the last two years I’ve never been better. I mean I do go through Sunday anxieties, but I try not to let it interfere with my overall mental state. When did you first start feeling more grown up? After my breakup is when I first started to feel like I had to fight for my place in the world. That would be three years ago this year.

What kind of chapstick do you use? I don’t use chapstick.

How many pillows do you prefer to sleep with? Two, but lately I’ve been sleeping with just one – a pillow I hug – because I realized laying my head on a pillow hurts my neck more than anything.

What is something you've kept bottled up for a long time that you now have released? I don’t think I’ve had that kind of release recently.

HAHA yeah i did read a bit about him and apparently he lived in sg until he was like 8 and then he moved to the states and he wrote these books as a way to remember the days he spent in singapore. also he’s wanted for evading ns even though he hasn’t been in singapore since he was 8 LMFAO

i do recommend reading the books though they’re absolutely hilarious and shed a lot more light on the whole rich people society. and yes you’re so right about the singapore cost of living!! it’s definitely lower than here esp like meals but also i get so shocked when i look at the prices of groceries 😭 are you seeing the price of ice cream. this is why every time i go back i run to the nearest primary school to get ice cream instead of the nearest giant. also fresh produce is so ex which i kinda get but like 😭😭😭😭

Hello, I require your infinite wisdom please!! :O So I just finished cowboy bebop and I am so confused like who the fuck was Julia. WHAT was Faye's past. I literally never process tv shows and the bebop was not immune to my stupidity LMAO like... I guess the ending just really confused me, from what I gathered Spike and Vicious were friends? But then they weren't? And Julia dated Vicious but also Spike? And he? Went after Vicious even after Julia had died? I am Confusion. Please help. Thank u...

Oh BABEY I am so glad you asked! :) Be prepared for a long answer and I apologize in advance for how incoherent it will probably be.

ALSO Please note: this show is fucking complicated. I have watched it all the way through several times a year, every single year, for over a decade now, and I am *STILL* finding new shit every time I watch it. It's packed with symbols, motifs, allusions and underlying themes that are just so rich. It is so extraordinarily well-written that it could give a lot of classic literature a run for its money. I'm literally working on an in depth literary/film analysis my husband lovingly calls my Manifesto on the series right now. SO PLEASE don't beat yourself up about not catching everything on the first go round.

HEY BTW for anyone who hasn't finished the show, please know there will be MANY spoilers ahead!

Anyways ~

1. Spike / Julia / Vicious:

The information we get on Spike's past, including Vicious and Julia, is pretty limited considering how big of an impact they have on the story. We get our first glimpse in Session 1: Asteroid Blues, then again in Session 5: Ballad of Fallen Angels, Sessions 12 + 13: Jupiter Jazz, and Sessions 25 + 26: Real Folk Blues. I recommend reviewing these episodes for you Julia and Vicious fix.

What we know:

Spike and Vicious were both members of an organized crime syndicate called the Red Dragons, which is roughly analogous to the Yakuza or the Mafia. Their positions in the organization are not clear, but there are some images alluding to them being hitmen, and they likely rose up in the ranks as they were close acquaintances of Mao Yenrai, a Capo of the Red Dragon.

Spike and Vicious were close comrades. Spike taught Vicious everything he knew about fighting, and the two had a deep trust in each other. Which Spike fucked up ….

Julia was Vicious' lover/girlfriend. One night in 2068 (three years prior to the time we watch in the Bebop) Spike is injured, presumably from a syndicate-related fight and he passes out in front of her door. She takes him in and nurses him back to health and he SIMPS HARD for her. We’re all but told he's in LOVE love with her. They start an affair, and Spike tells her he's ready to abandon the whole life - the syndicate, Vicious, Mao, all of it - and they could run away together.

WELL Vicious finds out about this whole affair, and is DOUBLY betrayed because his literal best friend and girlfriend have been having an affair, and tbh I think he was just as jealous of Spike's attentions as he was of Julia's. (Whether or not it’s a sexual thing for Spike … well … I have my own headcanons about that). SO when he finds out they're going to run away together, he gives Julia an ultimatum: you can either kill him, or I'll just kill you both. Spike had written her a letter about meeting him in the graveyard to start their new life together, which she tears up to hide his location from Vicious. (This is the falling ripped up pieces of paper we see in Spike's flash back in Session 5).

**NOTE: There are those who disagree with this view, (looking at you Cowboy Bebop wiki) instead suggesting Vicious and Spike were buds in the past, but then hated each other once they were both considered as potential successors to Mao. That's why Vicious wanted him dead, and he was enlisting Julia (who he didn't necessarily have a romantic connection to) to help kill Spike since he knew Spike loved her. Personally, I think there is plenty of evidence that Vicious also wanted Julia, and in fact was already with her, when Spike started seeing her. If you want me to cite my sources please send an me an ask about it :)

Spike gets the idea, whether by her just not showing up or word around the syndicate being like YO Vicious wants you dead. Despite Vicious' ultimatum to Julia, he was gunna kill Spike either way. SO he sets up an ambush, and SadBoy™ Spike walks intentionally into their trap. Somehow, he doesn't die, though the entire syndicate thinks he did. (Note Annie's reaction to seeing him alive in Session 5). It’s also implied that this is where he lost his eye.

HIS EYE - possibly the most important symbol in the show so I do have to mention it. In episode 26, he explicitly explains to Faye that one of his eyes only sees the past. (PS this isn't dissimilar to Jet's arm… we can get into that another time). Basically, he's constantly living halfway in the past and halfway in the present, and describes the past like a dream he can never wake up from. Because dysfunctional or not - the syndicate WAS his family. (Again - see his relationship with Annie, Mao, and Vicious (prior to Spike's betrayal)). It's his reminder that Julia didn't run away with him, and that he'd left behind that life for her. (He didn’t know she was being threatened until the final episode). Basically Spike is hyper-fixated on what he had and what could've been.

Not long after this, Spike starts bounty hunting because like? What else is he going to do. He doesn't care if he lives or dies but if he has to be alive, he may as well be able to eat. He joins up with Jet Black on the Bebop.

TL; DR: Spike stole Vicious' lover, Julia, so Vicious made Julia choose between her killing Spike or Vicious killing them both. She instead went into hiding and Spike thought he'd been stood up. He fake died and got the hell outta dodge.

2. What was Faye's past?

Ok let me start by saying Faye is my wife and my life. HOWEVER I hated her the first time I watched this show circa age 13 because I thought she was annoying/vain/shallow (also because #internalizedmisogyny lol am I right fam). Good news! She is all those things! But she's also very lonely and scared and an amnesiac and secretly a sweetie and she realizes she loves the crew of the Bebop like family.

SO my wife's backstory:

she was born in the 1990s (#only90skidsremember). There's some debate over her race/nationality, but due to the images of her hanging out in Merlion Park in Singapore, my bet is that she's Singaporean. She comes from a wealthy family with a big house, and we see some utterly *adorable* film of her as a child/young adolescent in Session 18: Speak Like a Child. I cry everytime </3

In 2014, circa age 20, she and her parents were going into space when the shuttle they were on had some kind of malfunction/accident and it killed an unknown number of people, including her parents. At the time, the technology didn’t exist to be able to save her, so she was put into a cryogenic sleep state. Meanwhile, the Lunar Gate accident occurs, breaking up the moon and causing rock showers on Earth's surface. Most people died, moved to Mars, or settled underground.

She wakes up from her cryogenic sleep in 2068. (Also the year Spike leaves the syndicate.) She's 'woken' by the corrupt Dr. Bacchus who plans on charging her for the years and years of medical debt she's accrued. (See Session 15: My Funny Valentine.) Luckily a lawyer takes interest in her case (Whitney Haggus Matsumoto) and tries to help get rid of her debt. The two fall in love, but turns out Whitney is a Scumbag. He's actually Dr. Bacchus's nephew, and faked his death, writing Faye as the sole inheritor to his will. This means she'll take on all his debts. So baby girl has LOTS of debt at this point.

In the intervening years prior to her joining the Bebop, she gambles, cheats, gains a lot of street smarts, and adopts a very seductive character to get her way. She joins the crew on the Bebop in Session 3: Honky Tonk Women.

TL;DR: Faye is Austin powers

YIKES this is so long I am so sorry. Bitches are obsessed with this show. (I am bitches)

3. The Ending

Okay I'm going to present this in the way, in my scholarly opinion, would be correct, though there are SO many interpretations other than simply 'Spike died :/".

To understand the plot of the last couple episodes we actually have to go back to Session 5: Mao is instructed* to sign a treaty with a rival syndicate called the White Tigers. (*He's instructed by The Van (Council of identical creepy old men) who are the actual head of the dragon. I think we only see them in Session 26.) Well - Vicious is a Bastard Man and he and his fellow mutineers blow up the White Tiger guys' ship and slit Mao's throat. Before he dies, Mao is like "Gotdamnit if Spike was still here this shit wouldn't have happened." Later in the Cathedral battle, Vicious explains to Spike he killed Mao because Mao 'lost his fangs'. He planned on killing Spike for good her, IMO, so there'd be no rival to take over as Capo for the Dragons.

THEN in Session 25, the Van basically catches Vicious and is like “you killed Mao and now you have to go to Time Out.” The Van also decides to just kill everyone associated with Vicious, just 2 B safe. That's why there's a big ass shootout at the Loser Bar where Jet and Spike are chilling, drinking, (missing Faye and Ed and Ein lol) and Shin (younger brother to Lin, who's helping Vicious overthrow the Dragon) explains all this to Spike. OH and PS JULIA IS ALIVE AND HERE IS HER LOCATION :). (**Notice Spike's reaction at this point is different than his reaction in Jupiter Jazz when he hears there's a Julia on Calisto. Much less excited… hmm…).

SO THEN you know we get some flashbacks of the past as previously explained *and* Julia just happens to run into Faye. She recognizes that Faye is one of Spike's friends from the Bebop (she was keeping tabs on him it seems) and picks her up. Faye doesn't know who Julia is but is like damn bitch I'm a little gay for you. (I mean … that may just be my bi ass projecting, but Faye is REALLY struck with her. Look at how she describes her to Jet, I mean come on.)

Faye's like, 'we should team up' and Julia says 'no thanks but also tell Spike to meet me at *the place*'. Meanwhile back on the Bebop Spike and Jet are talking and Spike goes on about some dream woman who was his other half. (We assume he means Julia … I have my reasons to doubt this … I have a lot of angry DMs about my opinion here lol but I just do not give a fuck (: I can expand on this in another post or you can refer to the title of my fucking blog haha) Personally, I think Watanabe personally left this specific scene open ended, the same way he does with the ending and various other things.

ANYWAY Faye comes back to the Bebop to tell Spike about Julia, and Jet gets intel from a former cop buddy that there's some shit going down with the Dragons. (Again, the Van is hunting down everyone ever associated with Vicious, including your pal Spike). Bebop is attacked, Faye tells Spike what's up with Julia, and he heads out.

PAN TO VICIOUS chained up - about to be executed - but what's that!? It's a bird!? It's a pla- no it's just a bird. (With one glowing red eye … hm … reminds me of Spike, also the drug Red Eye. Pls let me know if you have any thoughts on this). Just a bird with a BOMB! Explosion (RIP bird c. 2065 - too soon), Vicious kills the elders, his buddies show up and are ready to go fuck shit up.

MMMPhhh okay RAINY CEMETERY. Spike and Julia. She draws a gun, explains why she didn't meet him that day, and then hugs him. Now Spike is not *great* at showing his emotions but he literally just stands there. Maybe it's a stoic expression of how sad he is that he never knew she still cared, when it seemed like she dumped him. Maybe he's finally getting some closure on his past. Maybe the past doesn't mean the same thing it used to. (I'll elaborate later on this).

They go to Annie's to get stocked up on stuff, she lets them know she denied knowing Spike was still alive and hey also the Van was assassinated by Vicious and his guys so. Watch out for that. Then her shop is surrounded by Vicious' guys and she dies :(. Spike and Julia escape to the roof, but she's shot and dies in Spike's arms, and says 'it's all just a dream' :(. (Refer to: Spike living in a dream of the past).

Anyway Jet SAID he wasn't gunna go after Spike but. Jet's parental instincts kick in (oh yeah he was shot in the leg earlier btw) and he goes to Sitting Bull to see if he knows where Spike is. He basically says yeah Spike's about to die somewhere. (I want to do a further analysis on all the Sitting Bull scenes.) Well conveniently Spike returns to the Bebop, eats, tells his story about a tiger-striped cat. (At one point Jet asks if he's going there for her, and Spike is like well she's dead now so whatever). THEN we get to the scene where Faye is like HEY YOU CAN'T GO OFF AND DIE ASSHOLE and he's like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I 've been living in the past so I might as well see if I'm living now. (**This will play heavily into my interpretation of the ending). Faye is pissed, shoots the ceiling and he goes off to the syndicate headquarters to fuck shit up.

He basically John Wicks his way through the building, Shin dies, he and Vicious have the big boss battle and whatnot. He kills Vicious and stumbles back out down the stairs and says "Bang!" and collapses. We pan to the sky and see a star fade away.

Well that explains the plot … now here's what I think happened!!! ALSO may I mention, anon - you picked up on something I feel like a lot of people miss out on. Why *did* Spike go back to kill Vicious if Julia was already dead??

Basically, once it became clear that anyone associated with Vicious was being killed, Spike knew they'd hunt him down, and they weren't beneath Kill-Billing their way to him, (i.e. systematically destroying this companions to get to him). And for all his apparent indifference - he really loves his new found family. Jet is literally like an older brother to him. Ed is a little sister. Ein is well … a very good boy. And Faye? Well the relationship is complicated, and I'm not going to get into the 69,420 reasons I ship them here, but I think it is beyond argument that he really does care for her, even if that just in a filial way. He didn't want the syndicates to kill them for their association to him, or in order to get to him. So he did what he had to do to protect them. *AND NO* I am not saying that he didn't love Julia. But it was clear that his desire was no longer to run away with her. I think he genuinely loved and cared about her, but at some point between Jupiter Jazz Pt 2 and now, he accepted that their time together was over. Now he had a new raison d'etre, which is the Bebop.

I think at this point Spike has 'woken up' to reality (as he implied to Faye in their final conversation in episode 26: "Look at these eyes. One of them is a fake, because I lost it in an accident. Since then, I have been seeing the past in one eye, and the present in the other. I had believed that what I saw was not all of reality...I thought I was watching a dream that I would never awaken from. Before I knew it, the dream was all over." (This is from the sub btw I'm too lazy to look up the dub transcript.) He wasn't going there to die, he's going to find out if he's really alive. This line is fucking cool and everything - but it's implications are multitude. I won't go into them all here but basically : what makes him alive now is that he's free from his past. He's alive because he has this new family and protecting them is all he really wants now. Spike was protecting Jet, Faye, Ed, (and Ein) by going and facing the entire syndicate, knowing that their lives would all be in danger.

SO - did Spike die? Well again - Watanabe has purposely and artfully left this open ended. Well, if we're following the symbolism from Sitting Bull, then yeah, the man is as dead as disco, and wouldn't that be a fitting ending? BUT at the same time, Spike always refers to having 'died' before (meaning when he was ambushed by the syndicate, and they all thought he died, and he pretty much did). Don't forget that in movie (takes places roughly between episodes 22 + 23, and yes, was made AFTER the series but whatever) he like .. DIES dies. He goes to the afterlife and everything. He wakes up to find he's chilling with Sitting Bull, who's like nah it wasn't your time to die yet. So the fact Sitting Bull confirms Spike will die in the final episode, means yeah, Spike is pretty much dead.

BUT -- okay now hear me out -- could this death in the final episode be a death to his previous life? The person he was in the syndicate? Now that he's extinguished the Red Dragons for good, is it not possible that its merely *that* life which has ended? That's the optimist in me saying that, but if it keeps me from staying up all night crying, I guess it'll have to do. Watanabe definitely wants to leave it up to the viewer, so whatever you think, I feel like there's validity to it.

Hey! I saw your answer to that one ask and would like to know why Redbull (or any other team) would be interested in doing what Liberty Media asked of them and have two top drivers that are truly competetive? Why would a team and a TP want that added stress of managing them and handling that situation if the current situation (for example with Max & Checo) works. We all saw what happened with Mercedes and Rosberg & Hamilton.

And we all remember how good and competetive the 2020-2021 seasons were because there was a true fight between multiple drivers/ constructers for the win. And tbh we all can agree that this season has been pretty boring because there has been no fight for the win (with the exception of the Las Vegas and Singapore GP).

this is ABSURDLY late! but hello! i do have a few thoughts about this so please accept my belated answer while i fight the tumblr app demons 🫶

the reason why i think red bull would be willing in doing what liberty media asks is not necessarily because they care about liberty media, per se, but because of the marketing power that comes with it. it also doesn't hurt to get in the good graces of the owners by going along with their latest "entertainment" plans.

that, and because redbull can get away with it in a way i don't think other teams can. why?

redbull has already proven that they can win both championships with max verstappen alone if they have the car for it. that might not hold for next season, if the other teams manage to close the gap (please!!!), but as of right now they don't have to worry too much about their second driver.

that being said, they are always about MORE. more domination, more breaking records, more being the best and the first to do something — youngest drivers, youngest winners, longest records, etc. etc. etc. it would definitely be a goal for them to demolish a whole season even more than they already did in 2023, and having two drivers contribute would be part of that (checo did fine imo; he's just not at max's level to lead to total complete annihilation).

(consider how infamously brutal they are with their second drivers. obviously they seem content with checo as a #2 to max, but historically they have been vicious if their second driver couldn't compete well. why? because they want a powerful duo. i don't believe even kind of that they are content to keep checo just because he's doing "alright".)

having two top drivers might take points from one another, sure. that might jeopardize an easy snatch at both championships. but rbr is also very good with strategy, very good at drawing obvious lines. if it comes down to it and they need to enforce a little bit of discipline between their drivers, they will. i think they would be able to manage a consistent 1-2 every race without having to worry too much about #3 creeping up on them, but if they did have to be a bit more strategic? they could do it. now, would they be willing to prioritize the other driver over max if they had earned it thus far? i think maybe, but that one is admittedly questionable.

(see also part two: imagine seeing a very competent team with very good drivers managing to team up against their rivals when necessary? a lot of very cool strategies to take out competition or play the team game strategically don't always work out because of the skill gap between drivers — i.e., carlos aside from being unwilling to help charles is almost never in the position to do so because he lacks pace or is too far back or is on a different strategy etc etc. same goes with checo. this would give rbr more options for coordination when needed, i think, which could lend itself to some cool stunts and scheming.)

redbull as a brand — that is, Red Bull™ corporate, not just red bull racing — is all about pushing boundaries and being exceptional and highkey crazy. rbr also prides itself on being "different" and not like those stuffy manufacturer constructions. they're a scrappy energy drink bodying "real" car companies and doing it as loudly and controversially as possible. being the type of hooligans to take on the chaos and potential drama of a two top driver lineup is sort of in their wheelhouse.

i also think that mercedes not being able to do it successfully would only be more incentive for rbr to try. imagine if they make it work where toto wolff and one of the iconic manufacturer teams failed? that's bragging rights for life. rbr would go crazy with that. christian would be elated.

(see also, with charles specifically: stealing ferrari's prince, golden boy, il predestinato, and giving him the championship that ferrari failed to give him? yeah. rbr would eat that shit up. they love their controversial champions.)

entertainment value. rbr did not seem non-receptive to liberty media's attempts to bring more entertainment to the sport. obviously max hates the added fuss, but this is the sort of entertainment that max wouldn't hate — give him a real challenge every weekend and batshit crazy racing? i think he'd take that. i know he's said he enjoys not having to fight as much because it means the team is doing insanely well, but fighting his own teammate because they are the only ones who can actually compete would still be rbr domination. and lbr, he seems to enjoy the races where he RACES much more than the cruising ones.

that being said, yes, i agree it is pretty entertaining when it's two or three teams battling it out in full-fledged fight. obviously having two rbr drivers fighting the champion fight reduces some of the drama — no steward fights and arguments, no rival tps arguing, no inter-team tension. that's a little less fun. besides, stewards don't tend to investigate intra-team incidents. so there may be some lost entertainment there — but it also might be less toxic, too. time would have to tell on that one.

(also worth noting that people got annoyed with on-going rbr dominance this season, but, i mean... at least the first few races when it looked like checo might actually fight seemed entertaining to the masses. i think it's more so max verstappen dominance they are sick of. this would lend itself to some mystery.)

who knows though! even if charles has renewed (and ferrari has been doing A Lot lately to suggest they are trying hard to keep him, for once), i think rbr will be trying to get a closer-to-number-1 driver in the future regardless. obviously they tried to get charles. they have tried to get lando (debatable if he's on the same level, but he's good and has the potential).

i think they are very interested in having two top drivers; i just happen to think charles would be best suited for it, provided he gets a fair shot at the title with them.

Mortal Kombat 2021 Movie Review (w spoilers)

Just wanted to get this off my chest now that the movie’s been released in America. I watched this on 8th April when it was first released in Singapore, and two more times the following week.

So, overall I give the movie about a 6.5-7/10 or C+. Acting: Decent Story: Average at best Action: Above average to Good Gore: Graphic but not as often or much Best highlights: Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Costuming

I’ll be referencing some comments by others about the movie, but this’ll all be my opinions. I reviewed the movie based on my understanding that it’s a low budget film before even watching the movie. I am also a fan of the game (though I do not play, I watched most of the lore)

When I first watched the movie, I was excited. The intro showing Hanzo Hasashi’s backstory would be something familiar to fans of the game. As expected, his wife and child were killed, but as we know it, they have an extra baby girl who later survives and carries on the bloodline. At this point, I was already ‘eh’ because it was so predictable what happens next. I was already disappointed that they named the son ‘Jyubei’ in the subtitles, when the wife didn’t even utter his name in Japanese. In the game, Hanzo’s son is called Satoshi. But one can say that’s something petty.

Anyways, as it goes on, we meet Joe Taslim as Bi-Han. He’s menacing, he’s cocky and has the presence that fills the screen. Already, I was smitten. While some people were saying the movie is rushed, I’d say this part of the intro felt a little draggy. But, the fight scene after is great, and we see Hanzo and Bi-Han throw hands.

I’d have to say at this point: ALL fight scenes including Bi-Han/Sub-Zero were great. They’re the best. Every other fight scene with the other characters were decent but not great.

Then we get introduced to Cole Young. From the get go, I do not like new characters not in the lore. I’m that type of person who does not like original characters in fanfiction. And his story further made me feel that a lot of time was wasted on him. Mortal Kombat has story elements around family, yes, but it’s not central, and it made the movie too wholesome and not in a way that I feel implemented well. In my opinion, it made the movie a little cringey at times. I like Lewis Tan who plays Cole but unfortunately he’s been given a role that was completely unnecessary.

A Youtube reviewer said it best: Why make up an entirely new character when there’s a plethora of characters to choose from? Heck, if you want him related to Hanzo, you could have used Takeda or something (though yes i know he’s not related to Hanzo, but he could be like a distant cousin relative whatever, with Takehashi on one of this other parents side).

There’s Jax and Sonya - why not just use Sonya? She’s the one gathering all the information. They could have used her.

Anyway, moving on. We also meet Kano. He was good and I see a lot of people loved him. Personally I thought he was okay, but he was too comedic in my opinion and felt underwhelming. While funny quips and mockery are appreciated, he felt like what Liu Kang called him: A small, angry little bunny. Not at all what I’d expect of the leader of Black Dragon.

There was... it that supposed to be Reptile? I honestly do not know, but I don’t believe that’s the Reptile we know from the game, and more of a mindless monster that has Reptile’s abilities.

I loved Sonya in this movie. Jessica McNamee was amazing as her. One - she’s attractive as hell, and Two - she felt far more relatable than Cole Young. From her being a soldier living in her ‘shithole’, to her curiosity in trying to find out more about the Mortal Kombat tournament.

They look for Raiden’s Temple in the desert. This was a little slow and again, I say Kano just felt like a chump here. A try-hard doing his best to appear intimidating but failing.

Liu Kang appears. Kano won’t shut up. Liu Kang’s introduction was interesting and I liked it, but later on his monologues and exaggerated actions were so odd and ‘extra’ to me that I was cringing. I don’t know why they don’t just make him a normal guy who’s a Shaolin monk lol.

Raiden is as cranky as we know him in the game. He’s kinda dull here, but to be honest, so is he in the game, so I don’t mind it. I saw someone compare him to the 1995 version which while I enjoyed and appreciated, did not think he suited the game and movie. So Tadanobu Asano’s Raiden is fine to me! Also, shut up to the people who get on others’ case on the way they pronounce Raiden. In Japanese it’s Rai-den, not Ray-den, like they say in the game. Both are correct, so shut up.

Sub-Zero makes an entrance again, menacingly running down the hall and making me sploosh, and Kung Lao also makes an entrance. Here you can see how poor the CG is. This is where you can tell the budget is low and realise that all the sets we’ve seen so far is pretty small and closed.

The ‘arcana’ thing that they made up to explain their powers was honestly pretty smart and I quite liked it. It then becomes a training arc, which while understandably can be seen as slow, it’s quite needed for the story.

The villains in this story were sadly underutilised. Admittedly I am unfamiliar with Nitara and Reiko, so them being throwaway characters did not affect me. Kabal, while very charismatic, died but I felt it was a decent end. I personally wish they could have included him more. However, for Mileena and Goro, I could see the moment I watched it that people were gonna be mad. I’m not fans of either of them but I understood that they are major characters in the game. So for them to be offed that easily was... tbh very disappointing and quite insulting. I sincerely hope they will bring back Mileena for the next movie, experimented on and brought to life using Kitana’s blood or something.

But best villain? Obviously goes to Bi-Han/Sub-Zero. Honestly I went into the movie expecting to root for Scorpion but I ended up being so in love with Joe Taslim’s menacing and chilling portrayal of Sub-Zero. He’s soooo good. People said he was like a slasher film villain and I think they made a great choice doing so!

As for Cole - I’m still not a fan of him or his powers. I like they used tonfas, but as some called it - he has literally plot armour which, tru. Hahahhaa.

So finally after all that, we finally get to the last fight.

Sub-Zero is about to kill Cole then Scorpion is summoned. They both fight and actually one can see Scorpion is winning? He got more hits in than Sub-Zero (two stabs, a side slash and a throw from Scorp, meanwhile Sub got one slash and a throw) so I don’t understand why people thought he actually needed help from Cole.

Also, this is another major complaint about the ‘wholesomeness’. Why was Hanzo’s family killed but Cole’s family spared by Sub-Zero? Why couldn’t they just killed them off for extra weight to the story instead of making it so safe? I felt that would have redeemed Cole’s character as more of Mortal Kombat character if they did so.

But I really enjoyed the fight here. As I mentioned all fights that involved Sub-Zero are amazing and people not giving the credit to this fight scene are blind. I also saw a comment that said they were expecting ‘John-Wick level’ of fight. Both fair and unfair comment because: It’s a low budget movie and they are two different styles of movies. John Wick is more realistic while this one is more fantastical. Though for them to call this a Marvel level choreography... I’m not sure bc Marvel put a lot of money, so that means for their budget the MK movie did well? So IDK but I believe the fight choreography was good in this most especially in the Sub-Zero/Scorpion fights.

Fatalities were great, costuming were great and for the sets while small and enclosed they did good.

Story could have been better and I cannot stress how much I find Cole’s role completely pointless. Pacing wise I actually do not find a problem with it. I only wished for more fighting and less about ‘family’.

From the movie overall I understood it as to be a set up, and even before watching it, from the trailers, I somehow knew it was not going to have a tournament so I don’t know why all these people in comments are lamenting about the lack of a tournament. It feels clear to me that this is a set up movie and more are to come.

So while I have a lot of issues with this movie, I do think it’s a fun watch which is why I give it a pretty generous score imo.

Hopefully we’ll have more to come, improving everything in all aspects with hopefully a bigger budget!

- (I found so many things about Korean traditions omg.) So since Jumin is a very traditional man, he will do every single Korean tradition lol. I’m talking about presenting a goose (that’s adorable), both grooms wear blue, the wine ceremony where they share a glass of wine, and many more!

-Jumin proposed to V during a supposed business trip. They were at this super fancy resort and Jumin got down on one knee, asking V to be forever by his side, and V said yes

-I don’t think any of them would walk down the aisle tbh, but if someone were to do it it’d be V (accompanied by you of course )

-They both wear blue suits. V has a lighter one, and Jumin a darker suit.

-ihhh fhis one was hard. Probably a really light color scheme, like maybe very light turquoise or just white. They would have plenty of pictures that V took, and that are Jumin’s favorite.

what flowers are in the bouquet ( if applicable. bonus: what do the flowers mean? )

-They both have an almond tucked in their suit pockets, it means promise.

what their vows are ( eg poetry, traditional, improvised etc. )

-Jihyun would go for a really cute traditional-ish. “You have always been there for me, my best friend, and now, my love. You don’t know how happy you make me.”

-While Jumin would be super poetic. “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my years with you. You have always been there for me, ever since we met, and you’re the only person who has ever made me feel like this...I promise, that for the rest of my life I will cherish and protect you. I love you.”

-Jihyun would tell a story about funny stories/seeet memories with Jumin. Some times when they were playing hide and seek, or times when they’d stay awake during sleepovers and talk for the rest of the night. And of course he’d talk about how they met, and how amazing it has been to have Jumin in his life.

-Do I even need to say? SAEYOUNG OBVIOUSLY PFTTT

-Theyre photos are the sweetest thing ever. Rui takes them for them, as a wedding gift. The favorite photo of the two of them, is when V and Jumin are looking at each other, holding their hands with big dorky smiles on their face. There’s also one where they’re exchanging rings and V looks so happy he’s about to cry, while Jumin can’t stop smiling. And then of course, the one where V just put a bit of frosting on Jumin’s cheek. They’re both smiling and V now has his nose covered in frost too!

what sort of food they have at the reception

-They have pretty fancy and traditional Korean food, along with some western one too!

who cries first during the ceremony

-ME, I mean, definetly V. He’s way too happy and can’t hold it in.

how wild their reception gets ( who dances the best, who gets drunk first, etc. )

-So Saeyoung and a really really drunk Yoosung get into a dance competition, and when Yoosung is drunk and Saeyoung is feeling chaotic, you know it’s going to be freaking wild

what their rings are like

-Their rings are very simple silver ones, that have a big small diamond on the center and then there’s like two or three smaller ones on the sides. The diamond is blue, and it’s not like super big, but it’s definetly real

what sort of favours they have ( heart shaped sparklers, mini champagne bottles, personalised candy etc. )

-They have tons of stuff, Jumin has some cat candy (he couldn’t help himself ok) and there’s a really tiny bottle with a flower inside of it

-they go to a lot of places, Italy, singapore, and to Jumin’s little island

something memorable that happens during the party / ceremony ( do they run out of ice and someone goes to get it in full formal wear on foot, does anyone fall asleep in the middle of the party, etc. )

-At one point Yoosung slipped and fell dancing and then he started crying because he lost the dance battle lol. Also Zen actually congratulated Jumin while being all blushy about it, but he was really happy for him! Saeyoung also managed to get 2 feet near Elly until he was taken away by the security guards

who officiates the ceremony

-they would probably get married by a priest, since they’re both catholic

The way it starts slow but then slowly builds up, and V and Jumin hold each other close, saying how much they love each other. Everyone stares in awe as the couple dances, Jumin teasingly whispering into Jihyuns ear as the dance goes on, and they get more skippy and more happy, since they can’t believe that they’re finally together, and they start dancing faster and faster, unable to stop smiling. They’re filled almost with a childish happiness at being with each other, they’re so excited, and you can tell by how they both move and smile. Until they slow down, and Jumin leans his forehead against V’s, whispering words filled witr love.

-I have a really angsty hc that Jihyun’s dad is the one that’s like nope, so I feel like V would probably ask you, or just walk down the aisle with Jumin? You know?

Mon the third to last odd-numbered day of Nov

Eroda continues to baffle the internet, mostly because the dudes who thought it was gonna be something that met their standards of cool can't bear to admit that it's been solved and are willing to accept any weird ass theory that doesn't make sense rather than accept what's already known. We larries are used to seeing this kind of desperation but as always it's amusing to watch! The Eroda socials posted (quirky date system and all) and the site updated with new attractions including a lighthouse- still waiting on a tattoo but H and L are both keeping us in a steady supply of other lighthouses in the meantime. I would remind y'all however that many Eroda visitor stories are simply fan comments and are NOT canon. Harry has nothing to say about the island but did release a limited edition TPWK hoodie in a trippy neon sixties style pop art design. I'm holding out for Eroda merch but I was pleased to see what I think is finally a terrific shirt, so imagine my surprise when I discovered that everyone hates it! CANNOT RELATE but there you have it. He's on the cover of Hits Magazine (the usual outfit, in an exciting stripey variation.) And after another day of messy fan-unfriendly presales, I have to wonder: are HS🖤OT ticket sales being run out of Eroda? Tbh it's the only explanation I might accept for the surreal pricing (still $500+ for good seats) and spooky inconsistencies ('but when I clicked buy it was a different price what do you mean it changed??') but I suspect they're just run out of Azoff-onia which is a very different and much less interesting fantasy land.

Team Louis on the other hand, in a stunning upset, are killing the tour thing. They data mined, they put that info to use to plan the right size venues in the right places, they set reasonable prices, and as a result sales are just what they should be, with more dates being added to untainted excitement from locals (Chile and Mexico added today.) Louis was reportedly at Heathrow earlier, probably off to the US for his shows, and a picture from a Ping Pong bar was posted (is he sneaking out of the house to brush up in secret to win Harry's trophy from him?) The first installment of the Tracks of my Years interview posted, we can expect a snippet of him talking about a couple of his selected favorite songs every day this week I believe. The audio only video of DLIBYH was taken down from YouTube and people are wondering why but I don't think it's strange-that went up during the 15 minutes when the song was available only on apple music so the rest of us could hear it, but as soon as the official release happened and the lyric video was posted it became redundant and would only serve to splinter views by staying up.

Liam posted and appeared in content from Texas today- given the extended Henry family interest in becoming famous I'm surprised we haven't seen them sooner, but we sure are seeing them now. What about the album you ask? He posted some promo! For Hugo. An IGTV about his hugo collection (content: concerning, as per usual) and a hugo event Dec 4 in London was announced. But there is a hint of LP1 promo on the horizon: a fan listening party was announced for Italy, hopefully one of many.

Zayn posted some Flames promo and a pic of himself holding a YouTube briefcase ('thanks for the award!') while wearing a Rick and Morty t-shirt. That is a man who is loyal to his chosen fandom, something he shares in common with his zquad I guess!

Meanwhile, Niall said he doesn't think any fandom should have drama in it! AHAHAHA oh babe. Oh my sweet naive little potato. Anyway, he is in Singapore, from where he hosted a Spotify streaming party and live chat. He also said he will be playing a new song on SNL and won't have rugs on tour this time ("NO!")

favourite colour: tbh i don’t really have a favourite colour; it’s very dependant on my mood - but if i were forced to pick - it’d have to be blue

three favourite foods: chocolate (big fan), garlic bread (heavenly) and i absolutely dig a good ol’ english roast

last thing i googled: ice gem uk; so - basically, i am at uni and living in halls. the people i share my halls with are from asia (singapore, malaysia etc) and we were chatting about childhood staples. a classic british childhood staple was ice gems - and i couldn’t describe it so had to show them. they were confused.

time: 16:16PM

dream trip: i have always, always wanted to visit sweden; specifically a massive road trip of the place. my dad left school at 14 to drive arctic’s around the world with his dad about 45 years ago, and he always tells amazing stories of his time up north. it always seems so serene and peaceful, and with its rich nordic/viking history i am hooked.

tell me what you really, really want: corrr, what a question. what i really want? see, i could go down the whole global peace route - which don’t get me wrong, would be marvellous - but if i were to be selfish; i would absolutely love to buy my parents house so they don’t have to pay their mortgage and move out. it breaks my heart every time we chat about it because my parents have done nothing but work to give my sister and i the best lives they possibly could. i was born and raised there - in the middle of nowhere in a bungalow, living for the last 10 years on the sofa so my younger sister could have a bedroom - yet despite this; i wouldn’t change my experience for anything. i really did have a proper, wild and free childhood and even though i wish i could’ve had family holidays or fancy gadgets, i learned true lessons. i know how to fix cars, change taps and repair boilers. i want my parents to have the quiet life they always wanted and deserved. so, in conclusion - what i really want is for my mum and dad to be able to grow old together in the middle of the british countryside; just how they deserve.

Whether it be as singles, on a new EP, the next album, etc? They're just damn good tracks pvrisofficial: I want them to come out SO BAD too haha. I want to make sure the production is perfect so its now a matter of finding the right collaborator for them.

OldManMalekith: Hi Lynn! How did working with JT on Use Me differ from your previous experiences with producers? Everyone that I've seen or heard work with him puts it as a really positive experience, and he helps make great stuff! pvrisofficial: He is the BEST. He was very similar to Blake in the sense that he was incredibly nurturing and encouraging, dedicated to making sure it was 100% everything I wanted and always stood up for me if the label ever tried to change it. His production style is definitely different but its extremely diverse. It's a lot punchier and crisper and a bit more minimal than in the past but i think it almost makes things more impactful that way!

villanelleinsuits: Hi Lynn! You’re a creative genius, thanks for existing. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?? pvrisofficial: I would love to live in the UK countryside!!! Maybe Bath or something.

ac-36: hi lynn! i love your music so much, it means a lot to me. if you were to remake your past music now, how do you think it would be different, and what do you think the future direction of the band will be? pvrisofficial: I would definitely approach the drum production a bit different but keep it pretty similar with the other textures/instruments! Its not really a prank but we love having our in ear monitor tech do the worm on stage sometimes. Extra points when he does it in costume. I can play 7 instruments! Wishing you and Brian the best! xzlinx: I am wondering about this as well. Maybe I am just nosey but I wonder about the process of retraining your voice and what exactlt happened. It must have been insanely difficult on her mental health but goddamn what a trooper bc Use Me is unbelievable! pvrisofficial: Great questions!!! Singing WN is definitely a little challenging to begin with because I'm older and my tone isn't the tone of 19 year old me anymore haha. A big thing was anxiety which caused me to choke up a lot and tense my chords. Then when i was being coached, out of fear of damaging something we had to rebuild and start small and light which we think caused the chords/muscles to atrophy, which set it back further haha. I eventually went to another coach who then was able to take my "retrained" voice and then strengthen it up and rebuild it back to where it was before!

What was the first gig/experience that made you stop and realize that PVRIS was going places? pvrisofficial: one of our first headline shows in CT back in 2015. Show was crazy!!

KimLC24: I was just wondering how you get your inspiration to do your art and music? because it can sometimes be hard to even get motivated let alone create pvrisofficial: Totally relate and understand! I won’t lie, the older I get, the more I need to hype myself up and set a tone to create, especially when there’s so much music swirling around us at all times (the internet/streaming/etc). I almost always have a moody or dreamy movie/show playing on my ipad next to me while I work so that way there’s an inspiring visual going.

I definitely plan to just keep riding the wave… I feel like every album leaves some room for the direction to go anywhere so the next chapter never feels too restricted.
