#everyone: you are terrible and would literally kill given the chance

Honestly the whole “if you consume problematic media you’re a terrible person” has irreparably fucked up my perception of myself and it’s also fucking insane that people with that idea are like. 50% chance of being an adult diehard Harry Potter fan.

Just a quick drawing of my Lionblaze is Scourge's reincarnation au :) I am still sick so the drawing is a bit wonky here and there.....
This au is still a vague concept and everyone is free to interpret it or create their own story line with it ! It's mainly made to make Lionblaze more revelant as a character, I liked the idea of him having the power to be "impossible to defeat in battle", and at the same time, be the reincarnation of the one of most deadly cats in the series !
So what if Scourge's new chance at life - being Lionblaze - turned out to be not that much of a good idea ?
Starclan "rant" ahead !
Starclan is often a bit weird when they give out powers and prophecies, such as lying to Squirrelflight about being infertile so that she would adopt the Three. ...Or forcing Jayfeather to become a medicine cat against his will, going literally against their decision to reincarnate Cinderpelt so that she would become a warrior because she was made a medicine cat against her will ??? If we follow Starclan's logic, then Jayfeather would have to then be reincarnated to become a warrior because his dream to become a warrior was cut short by Starclan ITSELF ???
Anyway, Starclan being so strange about its decisions, it would be right up its alley to make Scourge's reincarnation have a power to give him a full chance at bettering himself, just like how Brambleclaw was given the chance to kill off Firestar to become leader, and chose to kill Hawkfrost instead.
Knowing that Lionblaze's main inner conflict is the fear of losing control and killing people against his will, being Scourge's reincarnation would make that way more difficult. What if Scourge had genuinely always been a horrible person ? What if Scourge was meant to be terrible in every single timeline, Tigerpaw or not ? Would Lionblaze be able to fight off this strange, tingling need for blood ? Starclan really be testing my boi Lionblaze in this au.
But anyway I hope you enjoy that small sketch! It's not much, but it's honest work lol ! :)
Oh, also, sorry for the Starclan rant again, I feel like I keep ranting about Starclan but Starclan is such a strange mecanic in Warriors ??? Like they go against their very own concepts at some points (the cinderpelt/jayfeather point...), not even counting the fact that they would let Ashfur in Starclan when he threatened to KILL three cats just because Squirrelflight friendzoned him years before wtf??? Or sending Frecklewish to the Dark Forest??? I might make a full written post to talk about Starclan because Starclan is a really weird plot device and they can't seem to keep track of what they are doing. Such as : Let's forbid the medicine cats from having kits. But let's give the children of Crowfeather and Leafpool some powers. Why would Starclan give powers to children that are born against their own values ???
Idk man Starclan is really weird sometimes and I wish they were more... Logical ? Maybe these are just neatpick ? If you have anything to add, if you agree or not, feel free to tell me ! :)
(Also should I write Starclan as a "it" or as a "they" ? I am a bit confused so I used both on this text !)

Cheater
Tumblr media
Summary: When finally toe to toe with Daryl after him cheating, you are given answers you rightfully deserve
A/N: First wanted to say this fic was inspired by @starrydixon 's fic, i legit got so angsty that i wanted to write my own and my own little interpretation of it, so definitely go read theirs <3. But enjoy this complete mess i made in literally 2 hours lmao.
Warnings: Cheating and angst
Word count: 2.1K
You stood in front of him like a deer in headlights, you were terrified to even speak. The Daryl Dixon, the asshole, the cheater, the love of your life was standing in front of you, something you promised never to let happen again. This is the first time you had been in the same room after the incident, after he had told you the thing that ruined your entire life.
Part of you wished he would’ve just kept it to himself, letting you live out your perfect love life with him but part of you was so glad he told you. You would much rather be depressed the rest of your life than be looked at as a fucking clown by everyone but not know why. You hated them though, you wanted to slit his throat right here and right now, Daryl felt so bad that he’d actually let you too.
Either of you were too scared to speak, too afraid to bring up the very thing that broke your relationship in the first place. You were afraid simply because it had been going okay so far, nothing like how either you anticipated your first time seeing each other in 2 years would go. Daryl came to help with the water treatment and you were there, all sweaty and worn out. You froze when you first saw him, looking over at michonne who was looking at you looking at him.
She never even told you he had come to visit Alexandria, no warning but simply because she thought he wouldn’t stay long enough for you to see him. He just came for some supplies but ended up sticking around to help out with Alexandria, it was still his home after all. After the water treatment was finally up and going again, you did the unthinkable… you invited Daryl into your once shared home for a glass of water.
“Just to make sure the water treatment is fixed.” You tried to be cheery abit it but something about his eyes made you angry.
Why did you invite him in? You have no idea, maybe because you missed his presence or you wanted to ask the questions that were constantly running through your head or maybe you just wanted to kill him then and there. Daryl was hesitant but he would not pass up the chance to spend time with you, before or after even if he felt terrible for what he did to you.
So here you were, standing in front of him, watching him look at anything but your eyes. Good, he didn’t deserve to look into your eyes after what he did. The house was silent as you drank your waters, neither one of you wanted to bring it up but you decided to rip off the bandaid before it got worse.
“How long did it last?” You asked, the only thing coming out of your mouth in the past 10 minutes.
Daryl could’ve played stupid but he knew what you meant, he knew the answer would leave you more devastated too. Daryl racked his brain to give an exact estimate of how long and each answer created a deep puncture in his chest.
“6 months.” He said plainly, his eyes dropping down to his now empty glass.
Your entire body had gone frozen, your heart crack open more and more as the answer lingered through the air. You knew It was long but 6 months was too long. Your first 6 months with Daryl he had told you he loved you, he fucked you like there was no tomorrow and his told you it would only be you and him for the rest of your lives. What did she get in those 6 months? Did she get the same treatment? What could’ve possibly happened in those 6 months?
“6 months?!?” You damn near yelled, making it known how upset you were.
Daryl just kept his eyes down, he felt so ashamed of himself and he knew you were too. He didn’t speak, just let you have your moment because after all he’s done… you deserve that. Now the question we’re piling up in your head, you didn’t just want answers now you needed them. You closed your eyes, took a deep breath and asked another question.
“What was her name?” You asked, not even knowing if you wanted the answer.
“Leah,” he said without letting the question linger for too long.
“Did you live together?”
“Yes.”
“Did you fuck her?”
“Yes.”
You questioned him rapidly, not even taking a break before going on to the next. You felt you deserved these answers after the long 2 years of them burning in your brain. You asked about her, you asked about him and you asked about what they were. With every answer, even if they were yes and no’s, your heart would break more and more. You needed that though, you needed Daryl to break your heart so you felt sick even looking at him, just so you could move on and heal.
“Why?” Was the only thing you said, no context to what you meant but somehow Daryl knew.
He thought about it, he had no idea why… it just happened. That question had him frozen, struck on the biggest question you’ve asked so far. He racked his brain, trying to find the words for how he really felt and why the hell he did something so stupid. He was stupid was plain and simply put an answer but you deserved an explanation. He finally got the courage to look at you standing there, eyes streaked with tears as you grabbed onto your own hoodie violently. Daryl still thought you were the most beautiful thing but right now he felt he didn’t even deserve to see you.
“I’m stupid y/n, I really am but when Rick disappeared I was sad. I don’t know why but I still had hope he was still out there and I knew I was going out all the time to hurt you, I could feel you getting more distant.” He paused, racking his brain to find more words. “You got so distant that I thought you wanted me out of your life so I did, I stopped coming around because I couldn’t bear to see ya. Then Leah showed up. I knew that when me and you first met, the thing we had with each other, the love we made and the memories, it filled a hole in me… you filled a hole in me Y/N. I was expecting the same thing to happen with Leah, I thought the hole you used to fill could be filled with another person… but it can’t.”
You sobbed even more, tears rushing down your face and you couldn’t even stop them anymore. Daryl’s words were something you needed but when you got it, you couldn’t handle it. His words were too much, they didn’t make you feel any better but only worse. He tried to replace you, he needed to replace you when you needed him the most. You craved him back then, you just wanted your stupid boyfriend to hold you for a while because Rick's death didn’t only hurt Daryl.
Rick was your brother, not by blood but by souls he was. He cared for you, he made sure you were safe and he even saved you in so many ways, even from yourself. So when he died, you couldn’t… you were depressed and Daryl leaving all the time did not help, Daryl was looking for ghosts when you needed him the most.
“I needed you Daryl…I needed you and you weren’t there.” You said simply, shoving your face in your hands as you continued to sob.
Your sobs broke Daryl, he could feel his tears starting to spill over his eyes. He never meant to hurt you, as a matter of fact he promised he would never hurt you and as if you needed more of a reason not to trust anyone again… he broke that promise. He deserved to rot with the walkers for what he did to you and hell he even tried at one point, but he wouldn’t hurt you again… you couldn’t handle another death.
“I’m going to ask one more question Daryl….” You said, taking in a breath before asking. “Did you love her?”
He wanted to laugh at that thought, him loving Leah?? Impossible. He fucked her, he cuddled her, he even let her say he was hers but he knew deep down… He was yours, always and forever. Even if you don’t forgive him now, he will always be yours no matter what. You found him at his worst, you gave him a chance and he fell in love with you. He had never felt that way about someone before, let alone someone like you. A pretty, smart and strong person like you… he never even would’ve thought you would give him the chance you did.
“No… I couldn’t.” He stated, voice cracking as his tears continued to flow down his cheeks.
“You couldn’t?” You asked, confused about what the fuck he meant. Daryl was never good with words and you knew it too.
“I just couldn’t, deep down I knew it was always you I wanted and loved. Y/N what I did wasn’t because I stopped loving you, I did it because I loved you and the feeling you gave me was too good… too pure and when I thought I lost it, I had to get it again but I couldn’t.” He started, explaining himself with words but not even knowing if he was saying anything right.
You stayed silent, the words engraving themselves into your brain. You just sat there, looking down at your shaking hands. You never knew a man could do this to you, leave your sobbing and shaking as he explained why he couldn’t love anyone else but you. You couldn’t forgive Daryl, you couldn’t… you had a soft spot for him but it wasn’t that soft, you wouldn’t just let him break you down again like that.
“I’ll leave you alone…” Daryl set his glass down, picking up his things before turning for the door.
“Daryl!” You yelled before he could even step another foot away from you. Daryl stopped in his tracks, turning once again to face you.
“If you step outside that door… I swear on everything  you will never see me again, and I promise you that I will not let you step foot back into Alexandria… you know I have that power to do so.” You threatened, you were angry… he was leaving you again.
“You want me to stay?” He asked, adjusting the crossbow on his shoulder uncomfortably.
“No… no, yes… I mean FUCK! Daryl I want you to stop leaving me, stop running away from us Daryl!” You yelled, not even sure what you meant. “I fucking hate you Daryl… I fucking hate you so very fiber in my body but not because you ruined what we had.. but because after everything you put me through, I’m still so madly and pathetically in love with you.”
You were quite literally pouring your heart out for Daryl and he took it all in, he just hates that he was the one who caused you to do this. You weren’t sure what you wanted but right now you knew you didn’t want Daryl to leave you alone again, you have been alone for too long and you needed him here again but if he left once again you couldn’t bear it.
“So please Daryl… please just stay with me, don’t leave me again.”
Daryl couldn’t bear to see you like this, your eyes wet with tears and lips red from your biting them… what’s worse is that he caused this. He didn’t know what to do in the situation but what he did he for sure thought was the right thing to do. He dropped all this stuff, engulfing you in a hug as you sobbed. You didn’t know if you should hug back or not but you were too broken down, too afraid and too fucking sad to push him away. You wrapped your arms around him, squeezing him close to you like it was your last time seeing him.
His hands made their way up to your hair, lightly scratching your scalp because he knew you liked that. You just buried your tear streaked face into his shirt, causing his shirt to become damp.
“I’m here bunny… I’m not leaving again…” he said, cringey at the pet name but you needed it right now, you needed to know he was there with you.
You were not sure if this was going to spark something once again between you two, you had no idea but having Daryl here with you and speaking to you like he once did, it caused your thoughts to stop for a minute… letting you just feel the way you used to for a minute. If all you got was 2 more minutes of that feeling, you were okay with it.

everyone talks about a malevolent x tma crossover like the blorbos would all get along? like sorry to break it to you podcast girlies but jon would be scary as shit to arthur and john, jon could probably see what john is and be absolutely horrified, and martin would be like "yeah smite em!" or something.
like youre telling me that the guy with a gun and an trauma-rooted hatred for cultists people who serve terrible powers in exchange for being given some of that power would be buddies with Jonathan "avatar of an eldritch fear god feed it or it will feed on you im a monster" Sims? that he wouldnt antagonize the fuck out of him? that he would even for a second, after everything he and john have gone through and all the horrible murder-y people theyve met, would trust the eyeball man?
and youre trying to tell me jon in turn wouldnt try to slurp a statement out of arthur (or even john) and leave him even more traumatized? even if it wasn't intentionally malicious, its his nature, and i think itd end pretty badly any way you spun it.
and i mean i know even in the worst of season five jon had a pretty strong moral compass and didnt like killing avatars, but martin really had no qualms with it, so if it came down to self defense or protecting martin..
i love them all equally so much but jarthur are desperate and not to be fucked with and will do literally whatever it takes to survive and jmart are legitimately terrifying nonhumans with fear-based superpowers. the only thing they have in common is the Britishness and the liking of poetry but i doubt that they would have the chance to talk about either of those things in the wild (*cough cough* the dreamlands)
anyways place your bets in the tags who would win: the cold, calculated demeanor of someone not to fuck with or the gay apocalypse wizards.

So there's this web novel called Worm.
Tumblr media
[art source]
It's about a dark and edgy world that's full of superpowered folks, and which is, therefore, about three steps away from dystopian collapse. Many places are already there.
The story is about a teenage bullying victim who gains powers, and uses them to become a very dangerous supervillain, despite her best efforts.
And anyone familiar with the RWBY fandom may have just gone "wait, this sounds familiar. Are there a lot of fics where a main character gets an alternate power set?"
Yes, yes there are.
In this fanfic I'm about to complain about, Taylor gets an already existing power that's already broken.
Tumblr media
Canon has "Path to Victory", which is almost literally just an "I WIN" button. It tells "Contessa" what she needs to do to succeed at almost any goal she wants. She's a big blindspot for people who can see the future.
Some powerful entities can't be accurately predicted, she can't predict how people will "trigger" and get their powers, and she's terrible in space.
Taylor has the darker, edgier little brother. Which is just an "I WIN" button, with no “almost”. It means she gets to do whatever she wants, and she’s a borderline sociopath.
Someone tries to mind-whammy taylor? Nope, doesn't work.
Contessa tries to use PTV.on Taylor? Doesn't work.
Look, this is obviously, transparently a stompfic. And there two ways to go with that.
ROFLSTOMP, or take it seriously.
Make it a humour fic, or focus on how the protagonist seems strange to those around them, and how they see everyone else as strange in return. Also how the protagonists actions affect various people and the system.
If you want challenge just give them mutually contradictory goals. The power can't do x without risking or losing y and certainly can't take care of z at the same time.
I read a Harry potter story which gave Snape the path to victory and the last published chapter was snape sitting in a bar trying to figure out what he wanted to do next. Looking back, that was probably meant to represent the author.
You can tell a good dramatic story with an OP protagonist. You just have to work harder.
This story mostly worked hard on setting up literally contrived situations so Taylor can kill someone in amusing fashion. And people's amusing reactions. That's the main selling point.
And of course the author and Taylor say that she has no more moral issues with killing. Because ROFLSTOMP.
In fact, one of the first things she does is literally stomp Sophia to death.
Taylor will still go after hard drug dealers because they hurt people, but she'll leave soft drug dealers alone. And of course she hates the local Nazi gang.
In short, she's a very selective sociopath.
So the story tries to mix both types, including with Sociopolitical Commentary™. It doesn't work very well.
At one point Taylor cracks a joke about tech Bros.
Fun fact: Worm  takes place in an alternate universe where there is a very slim chance that they would develop that particular slang. A universe that is culturally very different from our own. In fact, I'm pretty sure the original webnovel ended before "tech bro" was even really a phrase.
And when Taylor kills the local Injustice League, she gets the bounty, and decides to donate it to the city. Specifically, she announces, the general public.
And in case anyone was wondering why it can’t be given to businesses directly, she says trickle down economics doesn't work.
Let's ignore whether that's true or not. Trickle down economics usually refers to tax cuts. Not handouts and bailouts. Also the phrase was popularized mainly with Ronald Reagan's tax cuts.
Note that superheroes and villains started appearing on record in 1984. Reagan's first tax cuts were in 1981. His second were in 86. By 1985 in the worm universe, the breakfast club came out with Nic cage as bender. Superheroes didn't go public until 1987.
So it's possible that the phrase could still exist in the worm universe.
But it does seem strange that a teenager with little interest in politics happens to use it. In fact it seems a lot more like something an adult writer from our universe would use.*
Tumblr media
And besides all that, it's just getting one note. No char development. Even the people reacting to Taylor do it the same way.
I mean I knew this was going to be self indulgent Mary Sue nonsense from the jump, so I really have nobody to blame but myself.
*To be fair, precedent does exist in canon. There's a character called Nice Guy. He can make himself appear to be a non threat, or even socially invisible, even when people are actively trying to find him or he's slitting a throat. Which sounds a lot like the 2000s  internet feminist stereotype of a nice guy. Ironically, the character concept was originally for a girl.

Today in 'Shadows things hundreds of people have decided are true that I really don't understand at all,' we have... [spins wheel]
'Nandor's seasons-long burning desire to become human' - everyone here knows what a cult is, right?
Like at its most cliche, we understand how cult leaders work in fiction, at least? They say 'hey, dude, you seem very lost and in despair. Good thing I know a secret key to Paradise nobody else does, and I alone am equipped to get you there, and also I understand you better than anyone else in the outside world ever will.'
Nandor came to Jan in an existential crisis with no idea of what would help him, and left convinced that becoming human would do the trick. (This is because Jan is good at her evil job.) He dove into that belief because he was diving into a cult and that's what they do. He felt that vampirism was a curse because he was in the middle of a huge emotional crisis, and his new way out of that crisis was telling him vampirism is a bad thing that is causing his problems (instead of loneliness, a poorly fitting job, sudden changes in his close servant-friend, existential stuff humans go through as well...)
When he's out of that crisis, he never mentions becoming human again. He never mentions feeling cursed by vampirism again. In fact: he visits his homeland where everyone else became vampires, and decides that if everyone else is a vampire there's nothing special about being a vampire. (Read: in normal circumstances, with the chance to feed his ego, he feels special being a vampire.) In fact: when given fifty-two wishes that we see him use on his body multiple times, he doesn't use them to be human, or to do any human things.
I can see why, in the throes of S3, you could pin some of his backstory onto the Jan thing and see it as Nandor resenting being turned. Nandor is the one who lost more than he gained being a vampire, in terms of his glory days etc. We know nothing about how it happened or if he wanted it. The first time he tells it, all his wives left him because he suddenly changed into this dangerous unpredictable monster.
But the second time we hear it, in s4, it's implied that when he became a vampire he suddenly abandoned them all? (It's pretty vague tbh.) Also it's made extremely clear he was a terrible husband to start with. If the thing with razing Antipaxos doesn't tell you enough, his behavior in s4 seals it in: the peak of Nandor's human life was as a violent, insecure bully, who took everything he even imagined he wanted and never slowed down enough to understand how empty he felt.
Being a vampire gave Nandor time and space to think about parts of life he'd never have considered when he was alive. The losses he felt allowed him to be more patient and more sober. He enjoys fighting and violence now, but he seems to think about honor and mercy just as much. You could argue that Nandor's main personal arc - his 'I'm okay, you're okay' if you will - is accepting the person he is now over the person he used to be. Think of how much more natural his leadership was this season rallying the vampires in a crisis, instead of the forced protocols and rituals of the earlier seasons.
I don't think that someone with one foot in a world that literally doesn't exist anymore, who has trouble talking to most people outside the house and loves to watch familiars fight to the death, would be happy as a human. I think he'd work a day or get a single summer cold, and beg Laszlo to turn him again, actually.
(I don't think he and Guillermo would have a great relationship if they were both human, either - these are people who bond over knight-vassal courtly love vibes and trying to kill each other. What can life as a mortal couple possibly offer to fulfill them?)
But all of that is speculation. Here's what isn't: Nandor wants to be a human for a single episode of the show. It is not a richly established part of his character. If we're talking pure facts, it's a thing that happened that one time, and has never been spoken of again.

Secrets of the Obscure: Lost Commander
Playing through the first sections of Secrets of the Obscure, it got me thinking.
The Commander is lost.
Since the beginning of the game, when we take hold of them, they've had some kind of mission, some kind of goal. It started out small; help out in Shaemoor when things go bad. Or end a nasty Inquest prank/assault by destroying their cube golem. Or help put down Lord Barradine's ghost (again). Or literally defend the Dream from the psychic marring the Nightmare Court are trying to inflict on it in the hopes of spoiling the Dream into the Nightmare. Or taking part in a celebratory hunt and taking down the biggest Ice wurm to date.
From there it just snowballed for them with the Personal story, leading up to joining an Order, meeting their mentor… losing their mentor… Creating the pact and eventually bringing down Zhaitan.
And it kept going from there. One crisis after another. One war after another. Friends gained. Friends lost. Enemies found. Enemies ended. World saved, again, and again, and again.
Finally, things are falling into a nominal peace. Oh there's skirmishes and stuff. There will always be strife. But the big stuff? The world is starting to slowly move past it.
Human and Charr not only have a tenuous peace treaty; the heads behind the resistance to that treaty are GONE. Almost every main legion is headed by someone ameniable to peace, to a new way of life.
The Nightmare Court, while not gone, doesn't seem to have the violence they used to. Oh they still tempt the new sprouts to join them, to indulge in pain and decadence and rebellion… but with Faolain dead, the guiding source for their brutality is gone. Maybe they'll be trouble in the future, but not nearly to the degree Faolain turned them into.
The Inquest have lost base after base, including a Rata. It's unknown what their command structure is like now, or where other bases are, but they seem to at least be keeping their heads down. And with the Arcane Eye taken down, they don't have anyone on the inside anymore, to cover up their misdeeds.
The White Mantle are dead or badly scattered, with no real hope of reforming.
The Svanir have lost their totem beast, if not their lives. If they still linger on, they're no longer the power they tried to be.
Even Joko is finally dead. One of the biggest damned threats to the world, someone who would have killed and turned everyone if given a chance, is now Elder Dragon burps.
The Gods are gone, never to return. The one that tried to is dead.
Through all this, the Commander struggled, trying to save as many as they could. Eventually rising to become the Symbol of the desire for peace and stability.
And it finally happened.
But what do we find? The Commander is… lost. Everyone they knew is either dead, retired, has moved on to positions where they can no longer 'go on adventures'. The threats that brought them all together are gone. Now it's just the wind-down. Fix broken things, find the lives they left behind to fight their fight.
Except the Commander.
They don't have anything else. Their whole existence for the last 10 years has been nigh-constant fighting, threat, intrigue, near-dying, and ACTUAL dying.
Everyone else has moved on. But the Commander can't. What can they do?
It's so terribly sad. I listened to my Commander, Cyrus. My own self-insert. Walking around Salma district. He was relieved that things were peaceful, but you could tell he didn't feel at home. He didn't feel at home, at HOME. Because it wasn't home anymore. It was just a place he protected for a long time.
When he was trying out Taimi's new phone system (I just think of it as the smartphone system), with each call, it was clear that everyone had moved on but him. They'd all found lives to life, new purposes, new loves…. old loves…
And here you have him, standing alone in the street, unnoticed by everyone but a nosey reporter from Cantha. At a loss for what to do with himself.
Going back a step, even the triple-'date' Taimi set up to help Rama was awkward as hell. It wasn't the Commander's idea; they got hijacked into it. Even had their date pretty much picked out for them. As pleasant as it was, and as relaxed as it made them in the end, it was an oddity in their life. When was the last time they'd had a date? Before the Personal Story, somewhere? Maybe never? Was that the FIRST date the Commander had ever had?
It just kinda made me sad that, they knew they were basically going through the motions of 'normal life', because it wasn't normal to THEM. Trying to fit in to a world that no longer needed them.
If it wasn't for accidentally stumbling onto the Astral Ward, I don't think they would have been able to settle into a normal life.
But it still doesn't end there; accidentally brought into association with the Ward, they run into perhaps the ONE other person who might understand that sense of emptiness, that loss of the sense of home. Zojja.
And in her usual faintly self-centered way, you find out she blames the Commander partly for not being there when she needed someone. The one person who not only would have been there if contacted, but ALSO needed someone to confide in, to take some of the weight off them…
It hurt to hear Cyrus very slowly say "We would have come. I know I would've." There was pain there. Like 'You really thought we'd abandon you, so you immediately discounted us.'
So here's Zojja, the last of the people he knew from being the Commander who hasn't yet disappeared… and she's telling him that if she Ascends to Wizard, she'll lose memories, or they'll be come dull and unimportant. That the Zojja that comes out the other side might not even view him as a friend anymore.
And the Commander, already knowing he's probably going to lose his last friend, can only offer an understanding, painful smile and tell her that no matter what, he'll support her, even if she doesn't recognize him anymore.
They'll call him Wayfinder in the Ward… but it's just a new war front. A new rank. A new title. And he'll have to start over again.
At least he'll have R'tchikk to remind him of a past that's already starting to fade away in Tyria.
Everyone in the Ward knows of the Commander; they've been watching through their crystal balls, wondering if the Commander was a big enough threat that they'd need to quietly eliminate them. But now that the Commander is right there, the Ward is going to use them as a new weapon.
And we all know the Commander is just going to accept that this is what they're gonna have to do because… what's the alternative? At least they know how to fight.

What do you think about the fact that the "light" put Valtor in a torture prison for almost two decades and how it could have affected him ? Love you meta btw
Thank you!! About the company of light sending Valtor to Omega…
welp. he had it coming
The exact circumstances of his imprisonment are, as usual, a victim to timeline wonkiness, so we can’t say for certain who it was that locked him up — whether it was Oritel and Marion before the Witches arrived to wipe Domino clean, or the Faragonda-Griffin-Saladin-Trio. But it is likely that Domino was destroyed before he was sentenced to eternity in ice, if not before he was even captured in the first place.
Going from that, Faragonda and Co. have just learned that their friends, their kingdom and their two young daughters (one of them a literal infant) were murdered as a final act of desperation/cruelty in the war. And they have the man who was complicit, if not actively executing said act, in their hands. If we assume that Valtor‘s fate was solely up to them, no Council and Light Rock involved, I totally get why they yeeted him to Ice Hell without hesitation. Any of his previous crimes would probably be enough to warrant that too already. I am frankly surprised that they didn’t straight up murder him on the spot, but that’s were my favorite headcanon that he’s pretty much unkillable (‘cause dragon fire) plays in quite nicely.
I love Valtor, he’s my pathetic lil meow meow, but he is also unrepentantly evil in canon. He’s living for the atrocities. He's doing it for power, but also DEFINITELY for funsies. There is the implication that his mothers can control his physical form, but even then, he never regrets anything he's done and would 100% do it again if given the chance. That is a) very sexy of him and b) a very good reason to put him in the freezer and never talk about him again. I'm with Faragonda on this one folks
That second question tho, how his imprisonment could affect him, offers a whole lot more options:
To be fair, I don’t think it was ever explicitly confirmed that Omega prisoners are awake and aware while frozen, I just like to do that in fics for the angst. But thats still 20 years he's just straight up missing, a lot of changes and developments that happened without him noticing. If he was frozen before Domino fell, thats one big newsflash for sure; if he knew beforehand, he's still terribly out of touch with how the dimension settled around that loss. I also like to think he does not understand half the lingo the trix throw at him. He fakes it till he makes it, but he is SO confused.
Going back to canon, there actually is one pretty big indicator that his imprisonment really fucked him up emotionally tho. And its in everyone's favorite episode too: the one with the ruins on Andros, where Valtor officially introduces himself to the Winx.
If we skip past his private conversation with Bloom (which would be a crime), and to the part where the Winx re-enter the fray to blast him with their colorful beams, we can see one INCREDIBLY quick shift in his behavior, to the point its almost jarring, and it's when Layla / Aisha steps up.
Up to this point, and really, in 95% of his battles, Valtor never loses his charming tone of voice and his calm demeanor. It's how he's mocking his enemies and asserting his superiority: he is so confident in his power that he doesnt even bother raising his voice, he just swats away spells and keeps up the chit-chat. That little shit. He's iconic that way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Un-fucking-bothered.
But it also means that when he does lose his cool, its very noteworthy and makes it obvious he feels genuinely threatened or unbalanced. When Layla lands in front of him and announces herself as Princess of Andros, his face visibly falls. His smirk is wiped clean off, and he goes straight into the offensive, for the very first time that day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No banter, no pulling his punches, he goes in for the metaphorical kill and leaves immediately after, with Layla permanently (for now) blinded in one shot. It's the only time i can remember that he specifically targeted her, and its with pure, unregulated rage and ruthlessness. Similarly, while he is doing his one-man world tour of planetary crisises, every planet suffers but Andros specifically is nearly wiped off of the star maps entirely.
While there is a point to be made about how the writers always seem to have it out for Layla, the watsonian reason for this that jumps to my mind is that Andros, for the past 18-20 years, has been his jailor. I'm pretty sure i remember lines from the german dub about how Andros and everyone on it is worthless and deserves the same fate, but even without that, its pretty obvious that Valtor is pissed at them specifically. By doing their galactic duty (or political responsibility) and guarding the Omega Gate, Andros has ensured Valtor stays nice and frosty for almost two decades. While his outward reaction - anger and violence - demonstrates his desire for revenge, his sheer lack of restraint and impulse control hints more at fear in my opinion. In the latter half of s3 we only ever see him freak out like this when he is actively losing the war. He is the animal that bites when cornered.
We cant be sure he was aware in his cell, but if just the mention of Andros can set him off like this, we can assume he really doesn't like to think about it, and might even have some form of PTSD sticking with him. And since his only reaction to fear at this point seems to be maiming and murdering, this will likely contribute to his evil-and-lovin-it problem.
Excellent ask anon!!

What they did to the Velaryons in general doesn’t sit well with me at all. Specially that they are the family they chose to make black and then turned them into motivationless, spine- brainless pushovers to smile and stand by Rhaenyra’s side for no reason.
None of them makes sense as characters; the way he is characterized Corlys ( who is supposed to be an ambitious man, sure of himself, and a force to be reckoned with ) never would have excepted Rhaenyra selling Luke off as the true heir and definitely would’ve had something to say about Deamon slighting their families honor by killing his brother .
Rheanys is completely ruined as a character, honestly, she’s worse than Rhaenyra when it comes to hypocrisy. The scene between her and Alicent is so stupid It’s out of this world. She’s supposed to be this bad ass person, but she again is such a terrible push over, for Corlys, Rhaenyra and literally everyone. There’s not a single moment where she stands up for herself, and what she thinks is right ( her daughter is being robbed from their inheritance would’ve been a perfect moment ). And don’t even get me started on that brainless terrorist attack that she did.
And also when it comes to Rheana and Beala, I can’t fathom how people do not see how traumatizing Deamon and Rhaenyra’s actions must’ve been for them. ( I mean, having Deamon as a parent is trauma enough ) After the death of their mother they are given absolutely no emotional support from their father, and are dumped on their grandparents like used goods while their father tries to find the way to fuck his niece at her funeral. And then Deamon and Rhaenyra make Leanor, the only family that they have left from their mothers side fake his death. Like, are you good???
And then they marry each other like the next day ( by the way, the faces of the children during the seen were so genuinely disgusted ) and chose to SEPARATE the two of them.
( and again, in relation to the Velaryons as a whole, that must’ve been such a slap in the face)
And then years later they are back together again and see their father kill another member of their family and denounce their rights and inheritance and they’re like… yay
And honestly the “ chemistry” they try to force between them and the strong boys was so unconvincing. It very much gave “ when your mom forces you to hang out with the weird neighbors kid “ vibes. And honestly it’s such a shitty deal, why should they be happy?
And their supposed admiration for Rhaenyra makes me want to rip my hair out. This woman turned their lives into hell and showed them their fathers true colors.
They turn this whole badass family in a bunch of nonsensical whims that have zero motivation or self respect. It’s so frustrating.
Tbh… and it could be bc I watched the show before reading the book, frankly find the book bad (i don’t understand how the so called book purist wanted a ‘direct’ adaptation of whatever that mess is). The Velaryons as a whole seemed kind of… not bright 😭. And that could be bc the person at the time who ran the house, corlys, is a subpar poltical mind.
In the book rhaena and baela get betrothed to luke and jace at the age of two. They genuinely never stood a chance in either scenario imo. And at every turn it sort seems like the people who are supposed to care for them undermine their happiness.
I think throwing their support in for Rhaenyra in general was a dumb idea started by yeah you guessed it Corlys. He makes wrong moves in the book and the show, and his house essentially falters because of it.
Corlys isn’t a family man, and frankly I don’t think he cares all that much about anything as long as him/his blood are in power. Like most men during that time. He could’ve passed the line through Baela. He says no bc he knows that would call into question Luke’s parentage. Then in turn jace’s parentage, and in turn question Rhaenyra’s actions. Meaning laenor being king consort was a mute point. He doesn’t care about his family’s safety. He proved that multiple times over.
He has another chance to have either Baela or rhaena take over, and instead his bastards (who if we go by the book he has with a literal teenager) get legitimized and take over. Like he quite literally petitioned to Rhaenyra so addam and alyn could be heirs to driftmark.
They are written like pushovers bc frankly that is what they are (in the show and book). Rhaenyra’s cheerleaders and fleet till she, in a state of paranoia, kicks them to the curb. What is the point of being ambitious if you are also foolish 🤷🏽‍♀️

Honestly it's so baffling to me when people on this website claim that Misandry isn't real or men are all privileged oppressors and etc.
Like... I've been on this website for MANY years and I see, on a daily basis:
Jokes about how all men are awful at sex, don't know where the clitoris is, don't know where women urinate from, etc.
Jokes about men having small penises, being gross smelly neckbeards, and other types of body shaming
Posts about how men are all evil, violent rapists or that they will assault or rape someone with no hesitation if given the chance
Posts about how men are pedophiles, groomers, etc. for being interested in children's media or cartoons
Posts making fun of men for having "childish" hobbies like building legos, playing video games, etc.
Posts listing off dangerous, creepy things men do and the entire list is just different symptoms/signs of mental illnesses or learning disabilities
Literal posts about how men should all be eliminated/killed
I could go on and on. I almost lost one of my male friends to suicide because he had severe depression and started hating himself because EVERYONE was constantly reblogging posts about how awful/dangerous/evil men were.
Men DO face problems due to their gender, especially POC, trans, MLM, etc. men. They have basically zero resources if they're victims of abuse/assault/rape and in some places aren't even legally recognized as rape victims, are seen as disposable and not in need of protection and forced to do dangerous jobs, not to mention police violence against male minorities.
It's just so upsetting. I just wish people would be nice to each other and I don't understand why people act this way. It's not a black-and-white issue of "This group is full of dangerous monsters who need to be eliminated, and this group is full of innocent poor abuse victims and there is no nuance at all".
I'm sorry for ranting in your inbox about this, it just upsets me so much.
And, the problem is, some of these things are well earned by men who refuse to do better.
An ex of mine admitted sometimes he had a hard time finding the clit on past encounters with others and funny enough when I was like "bro how it's RIGHT THERE" he was like "stfu yours is HUGE it's unmissable ok of course I could find yours it's the first thing I saw when you took off your clothes they're not usually that big" which is how I got the first hint that I'm intersex. And in fairness some people are just very small- a trans guy I know has occasionally struggled when in an encounter with someone pre-T or no-T and it's effectively microscopic because that's just how that person's body works.
But I've also known cis men who genuinely think girls pee out of their vaginas [again, in fairness, lack of sex ed due to conservative christian upbringing + cis men do in fact pee out of their sexual organ so it's not that big of a logical leap to make], who don't understand literally anything about menses [again, all emissions from a penis are more or less controllable + the concept of uncontrollable bleeding from a penis for a week straight would have most guys in the ER + lack of sex ed], "what size pussy you wear" type dudes [which, again, for all penis-equivilant things, knowing the size does matter]... as well as women who are unsatisfied by their partners' performances and yet refuse to tell them.
I'm not on tiktok but one crossed my dash of a black guy saying he had no idea that when girls put their hands on his abdomen while he's having sex with them, it's because he's hurting them and they're trying to push him away, because of the angle there's just no leverage to actually push. He thought it was encouragement to go harder. His current partner explained it and he immediately felt so terrible thinking back on all the times he's unknowingly hurt someone for his pleasure. Communication is a two-way street, how was this man supposed to improve if his partners are not communicating "when I do this I want you to stop because you're hurting me"?
Yes, some men are just allergic to giving their partners pleasure, and are inherently selfish in bed. But, also, I myself have hard lines I draw and I'm not willing to cross them even if my partner really wants me to. And some of these lines *are* acts that are very common to find in most bedrooms. Again, communication- is he actually allergic to eating pussy because he thinks vaginas are inherently disgusting outside of when his dick's inside one and he doesn't think girls can orgasm, or is he just incredibly turned off by that act but is more than willing to experiment in other ways to bring his partner pleasure? One of these guys is a pissbaby and the other is just a dude with a boundary.
Big sigh.
Now that I am around men, cis men, more often, I find that like in everything there's nuance and perspective.

Sorry for blowing up your inbox but I like your blog and hearing other opinions so...
I've seen multiple people claim that Snowing and Captain Swan are selfish.
For being happy that Killian was alive when Robin was dead, for their parenting, etc.
I've even seen them claim Emma doesn't care about anyone but herself and claim that she doesn't care about Henry.
People always go on about how she 'abandoned' Henry and that Neal, Gold, and Regina care so much more about him.
(even though I've seen some sf and sq edits where Henry is treated terribly by the same people and Gold literally would have murdered Henry if he hadnt found out NEAL WAS DEAD).
People also claim Snowing abandoned Emma and that it was their fault Emma was orphaned and not Regina's.
(Even though let's be real. If they didn't put her through that wardrobe Regina would have absolutely murdered baby Emma or Emma wouldn't have grown up at all).
I'm just frustrated so this probably doesn't make sense. Sorry.
Why thank you! And as you know, I am more than happy to blast my opinions out here!
Tumblr media
A few things that completely destroys their talking points:
Snowing gave up a future with Emma so that everyone would be free
Emma gave up her future when she sacrificed herself to the darkness for the sake of the town
Emma gave up her future when she sacrificed for Gideon.
Emma gave up the chance to be with her parents and Killian to take Henry to NY in S3
Killian gave up his life to stop the darkness
Killian let himself be tortured to protect them all
Killian risked his life for Henry in s6
Killian risked his life for everyone in S3
Snow let herself fall into a curse so Emma could save her true love
Emma killed Cruella to protect Henry
I’m sure I missed some but these focus on Emma's love for Henry, Snowing's sacrifices for Emma and Emma and Killian's sacrifices for Henry and the greater good. Side note: Yes, I think the show misused Snow's relationship with Emma in favor of her ridiculous and unbelievable relationship with Regina but I still see Snow as a mother who would do anything for her daughter.
That being said let’s dive into the claims!
Claim 1: being happy that Killian was alive when Robin was dead
My counter question to the Regina Apologists is this: so what would you have had them do? Literally? It’s not like they threw a party. What should Emma have done? Tell Killian he needs to go back to the Underworld because Robin is dead and if Regina isn’t happy, well, Emma can’t be happy either and Killian doesn’t deserve to live? Their answer to that is “yes” by the way which I then point out how incredibly stupid that is and biased. Regina deserves squat and while Robin didn’t deserve to die that has NOTHING to do with Emma and Killian.
Killian was also dead and they presumed they would never see him again. Life is a roller coaster and people experience many emotions in one given day. Just because something good happens in the aftermath of a tragedy doesn’t mean you do not feel happiness over that good thing while your heart is also breaking.
Tumblr media
This look here is a prime example.
Emma is overjoyed she has her pirate back. But once she’s welcomed him back, she looks over at Robin’s coffin and THEY have a moment of silence and sadness. In fact, it takes them a while to make it back to Granny's out of respect!
Parenting? I’m not sure what the “parenting” refers to under there. Happy parenting vs what exactly? The only possible thing I can think of is Snowing having another baby which isn’t selfish at all. They were robbed the first time and does this mean that having a second child is always selfish? I don't know people are weird when they reach for things to hate on.
Claim 2: Emma doesn’t care about Henry & she abandoned him
Henry has been living with Emma since S2. Under her care, his life flourished in S3 where he had friends and their bond only grew whereas he was never this close to Regina. I mean it was Emma that knew something was different with him when Pan switched bodies with him. It was Emma, not Regina or Gold, that knew how serious things were getting with Violet. It was Regina that kicked him out when she had a broken heart but when Emma lost Killian she never kicked Henry out.
Killian also was very close to Henry as well because it was Killian that finished teaching him how to sword fight, navigate and captain a boat. Killian also asked Henry to be his best man.
In fairness, Neal didn’t get a chance to be a father but then knowing Neal as soon as things got too tough he’d be gone. And Gold cared about Henry when it was convenient for him because as you point out he nearly killed Henry on a few occasions. Don’t forget about S5 and S7.
And Emma never abandoned Henry. To say that she did infers that she left him somewhere and walked away for selfish reasons and belittles the sacrifice birth parents sometimes have to make for the sake of their child. Giving a child up for adoption to ensure that child has a better life than you can provide them is not abandonment. Emma saw to it that his needs would be met when she surrendered her rights to Henry. It was an act of love and a chance at a better life since she couldn’t provide for him. Those who say this refuse to look at the facts: she was a teenager in jail without family support, income or a place to live. He’d have been bounced around from one place to another while she sat in jail then waited for the courts to decide she was a fit mother (which could’ve been years considering her record and lack of job or living). Note: this is not to say adopted children don’t feel abandoned by their parents, Emma sure did, but I’m just saying the word isn’t a fair one to use in some circumstances and implies selfishness when there wasn’t any.
Now if they mean Emma abandoned adult Henry in S7 then they can kindle STFU about that too because Henry was an adult that decided to leave home. Just because Regina followed him around like a co-dependent parent following their child to college doesn’t mean Emma loves him less. Actually, it means she loves him more because she gave him room to find his own story whereas Regina attached herself to him because she needed him. Regina has always needed him. He’s never needed her.
Claim 3: Snowing abandoned Emma and it was all their fault
Yes, correct, Regina’s henchmen were sent to kill baby Emma. If baby Emma had managed to survive then she’d have been cursed as an infant and she’d never have grown up, she would not be with Snowing despite Emma's claims in S2 and they’d all still be cursed to this day. It’s shocking how many Regina Apologists do not know this.
And when you point out they immediately bring up the door in S6 to which I say “same deal”. Now, the show retconned the terms from S1 during S2 because suddenly in S2 Emma needed to be alone in order to find them and break the curse (August implies this in his convo with Neal and then Snowings convo with Gold in S6 retcon flashback). And Snowing had to make that sacrifice for the greater good. There was no other moral choice to make, as choosing themselves would be the selfish choice, and sadly Snowing and Emma paid the biggest price just so everyone could be free.
My answer to this is pretty simple. If Regina hadn’t casted the curse then Snowing would’ve raised Emma therefore it is still Regina’s fault. Snowing had no choice but to let Emma go so that she could find them and break the curse.
I actually go into that more here:
Do you know who, out of the main cast, is the most selfish character on Once Upon a Time?
Y’all know what my answer is. Actually, Rumple is probably the most selfish but Regina comes in second and I consider her to be worse since the show promotes her as a redeemed villain now hero.

I miss bad movies
Pretentious and possibly unpopular take but, I miss unhinged cinema. Bad cinema. Less than perfect cinema. I miss the hidden gems that went straight to DVD and you had to borrow from a friend. I miss the absolutely insanely plotlines that made no sense but had you spit your drink over yourself and once more when you tried to explain it to someone. I miss watching a movie and having no clue who any of the actors were, not because you lived under a rock but simply because they had never been in anything before. Discovering weird little freaks who you kept an eye out for in future. The shaky camera, the lowbudget scenery, the movies shot in one room or in a forest due to lack of funds. The found footage movies that were clearly shot on an actual VHS. The 1hr 27min horror delights that started off understandable and went absolutely off the deepend. The movies that were just WEIRD, but delightfully so. Who had one distinguished actor playing a role wayyy out of their comfort zone and killing it. Movies where all the characters are terrible people but you root for them anyway. Movies where you literally have no idea what's going on. Movies where the ending is so fucked up it leaves you feeling like you got hit by a bus. Movies where the mannarisms and the intination is so absurd it leaves you breathless with laughter. Movies where it starts off slow and then something absolute insane and fucked happens. Movies where everyone is put together and and then dirty and screaming by the climax. Just... weird, jumbled, stitched together shit that wasn't perfect but you got such a kick out of anyway. Movies that would probably never have gotten made, maybe shouldn't have gotten made, but were anyway, and you got to see it. That had heart because holy shit, someone wrote and directed that, and you gotta admire it!! Movies that the critics hated, that your parents probably hated, that became cult classics, loved fiercely by a niche group it really rung true for. Movies that weren't polished and perfect and oh so clever that they made you roll your eyes. I love big budget blockbusters and a stellar cast and a clever story, and brilliant special effects. I really do. But I miss all the others. The ones that I imagine will now sit on a pile, gathering dust forever. That in the 80s, 90s, 2000s would have been picked up, and by god they would have given it a go. That you'd watch and go, "huh. Okay!", or that you'd decide okay, that one is for me. That one is going straight into my collection, into my heart, I have adopted this now. Because it's not perfect, but you love it anyway. Maybe it's flaws make it lovable. Streaming has decimated the chances of those ever seeing the light of day. I'm sick of seeing the 5 or 6 "perfect, polished" films we get once a year. Where's the freaky shit they keep in the vaults. That stuff is for me, and I miss it so much

I'm calling upon the baldur's gate 3 enjoyers who want to listen to me be unhinged because i'm having a 'who to romance' crisis and i need feedback. yes i'm at work right now. and i'm only in act 1. but LISTEN. shakes my awful little guy upside down and steals his lunch money
magni:
drow rogue. raised to worship lolth. considers his 'devotion' to the goddess as more a devotion to chaos, because he's completely certain that if given the chance lolth would just eat him.
he's completely unbothered by that, prompting everyone in the party to be like 'bro are you ok'
thinks he's very smart for going 'nothing in life matters! (skateboard kickflip)' to fuel his selfish behavior and is very irritated that the people in his camp are making him actually examine that
lives to cause problems on purpose. literally. it's his only motivation for anything (for now)
to make it WORSE he is an exceptional liar who is not against playing the long game, so you may not realize he is being absolutely horrible about something until the Dawning Realization Hits.
He's going to face Consequences for that. Eventually. There Will Be Growth i promise he is going to learn how not to be terrible and he is going to hate it the whole time
which leads me to.
i hate having to make romance decisions quickly because i want to like... pay attention to character dynamics instead lmao. but i understand WHY it's that way. I'm just a baby.
astarion or lae'zel are probably the only options that make sense rn, but i'm just here like. what if there's another option that would be more fun and i just don't know enough of everyone's secrets. I turned down Gale and i've been sitting here for like 2 days going 'BUT WHAT IF......'
magni and lae'zel are currently very similar, but he's lies and deception where she's blunt and honest. I kind of like the idea of keeping them Terrible Besties though. having to confront their issues together and hating every minute of it. he's like i think i'm dating someone and she's like '''dating''' what a stupid word. and he's like yeah i know wtf is up with that
which leaves astarion, but i'm getting the feeling astarion is secretly an angry puppy under 12 layers of posturing and magni's current form of showing affection is 'i will kill that guy for you but first i will ruin 3 generations of his estate' and his usual reaction to emotional vulnerability is to internally do an evil little :) like you should not have told me that. he would not know what to do when someone he does not actually want to hurt gives him information he could hurt them with. it would freak him out. he would not sleep for 2 days
In the end i'm probably going to end up headcanoning impossible poly romances (gale watching him be a bastard like 'i can fix him' while astarion goes no he is going to actively make you worse) but like. if you have thoughts on the romances, lay em on me. I've avoided spoilers but i'd be super interested in knowing if any of them are like.. extra good or surprising lol. ya feel me. am i making sense. i feel like the pepe silvia meme

osamu sits across from suna. a bright, easygoing smile plastered on his face. he laughs, he jokes, he speaks with ease. atsumu said osamu was doing a lot better.
suna finds himself staring at osamu throughout the night, even after osamu catches him multiple times. he can't help it. osamu looks ethereal. bright and vivid. genuine happiness courses through osamu in a way it hadn't before.
it looks so good on him. a positive glow surrounds him, infecting everyone around him.
everyone is so happy and talking. and all suna can focus on is osamu.
he never should've broken up with osamu. he had to hear about all this progress through atsumu. he could've seen osamu, he could have been there.
suna should have been there for osamu.
suna finally excuses himself from the table, saying he needs to use the bathroom. instead, he walks outside of the restaurant and leans against the wall. breathing in the fresh air of outside, the mix of fried foods and smoke fill his nostrils.
he feels like he can breathe. he forgot how distracting osamu could be.
he didn't think he'd still be so infatuated with osamu after these few years. the longing in his heart is still very, very present.
"hey, rin," osamu says and leans on the wall next to suna. "you've been pretty quiet." osamu pulls out a pack of cigarettes and taps them on his palm.
suna laughs. "I've always been quiet."
osamu scoffs as he places a cigarette in his mouth and pulls out a lighter after pocketing the pack. "sure you have."
suna watches osamu light the cigarette, the smell joins the smell of smoke and fried foods in the air.
"you look really good," suna says. he coughs. "I mean, just- you look healthy. and well. I mean."
osamu laughs and suna looks at the ground, cheeks flushing with heat.
"yeah, I was doing real bad there for a while," osamu says, voice pensive.
suna remembers the constant fighting. he remembers days where osamu wouldn't leave bed. days when osamu would use any excuse to yell and berate suna. things were rough for a long.
maybe it wasn't so bad suna broke up with him.
in a shock to suna, atsumu had taken his side. thats when suna really knew things were bad.
"not long after you broke up with me, tsumu convinced me to go to therapy." osamu takes a drag. it's quiet for a moment.
it's good that he did that. suna wanted to suggest it at the time but thought it would start another fight. atsumu did say things were hard between him and osamu as well.
"I was terrible to you," osamu says, catching suna off guard.
"oh, no, it's not-"
osamu continues talking, "no, I've been meaning to apologize to you. but I could never find the words and the timing always felt wrong. I might as well just rip the bandaid off, yeah? you've always deserved someone who will give you the world and I got so selfish and caught up in my own head." osamu turns and smiles at suna, flicking the ash from cigarette like it's a narutal movement. "and you look good as well. you've been killing it in volleyball also."
"you watch my games?"
"every chance I get."
there's a swarm of emotions swelling in suna's chest, clouding his mind and blurring his thoughts. he wants osamu. wants to kiss him and hold him and be just like they used to be when they first started dating.
suna blinks, realizing how close osamu is. the cigarette long forgotten, but the smell lingers between them.
suna sighs, giving into his want. "can we try again?" he asks softly. desperation laces his words, more desperate than he thought he felt.
osamu's eyes soften and suna's heart races.
"you'd really give me a second chance?" osamu asks. sounding unsure of himself. sounding like he doesn't deserve a second chance.
suna takes osamu's hand. "osamu, I would've given you a second chance if you asked me for one literally the day after I broke up with you."
laughter bubbles up from osamu. his eyes water just a bit. "you're so dumb," osamu says, not maliciously. almost fondly.
suna laughs. "only when it comes to you."
osamu leans forward and catches suna in a kiss.

Going through my drafts & didn’t want this Clariel review to go to waste in case anyone relates:
I want to complain about Clariel by Garth Nix for a minute.
First of all I loved the book, it wasn’t as good as the others but it was still an Old Kingdom book and I really appreciated that Garth is willing to write such fabulously powerful female characters AND that he gave Clariel the power of being a berserk & didn’t play it off like being a berserk is an inherently bad or evil thing, in fact when Clariel meets her grandfather he’s like ‘oh you’re one of these, I know just what to do with you!’
I love that Jaciel’s berserk energy is unleashed in it’s full power and we get to see that being a berserk has huge advantages and can be extremely positive, while also not shying from the inherent dangers it holds. Idk, I just love that we get to have a powerful, angry female character and it’s not played as an inherently bad thing, even though it’s ultimately Clariel’s downfall in a way (but not really - her temptation to use Free Magic isn’t quite a one-to-one transfer from berserk to her going dark side in the end).
Anyway! The complaints!
-quite honestly, I didn’t think Clariel was evil enough. If this was her origin story, it only...kind of told how she actually turned evil? In the end, Clariel is still a good-hearted person with no intention to do wrong by anyone, and even asks to be killed lest she turn into a monster and the people around her are like ‘nah, you’ll be fine’ and send her off to peaceful exile. That’s just...not a very compelling evil character, is it? She just, what, wanders the desert long enough she succumbs to her temptation, which everyone knew about, and they were perfectly willing to set her off on her own, knowing what she could do and would do again if chance came along? That doesn’t sound like Clariel’s problem to me. Also, at the end of the book Garth himself jumps in as the narrator to try and moralize Clariel’s actions: “a girl who did not make very good choices in life.” I mean... what else was she supposed to think, and how else was she supposed to act, given that literally nobody was doing their fucking jobs when Clariel was alive? The king & the Abhorsen were all very much shirking their responsibilities, it’s the entire plot of the book, and Clariel’s...what, bad for being the only character to try and do something? What, she’s a bad person for not seeing the future like the Clayr, for not trusting untrustworthy people to do their jobs when they clearly hadn’t been, like what the fuck was Clariel literally responsible for. Yes, she uses Free Magic - but only because it’s the only power she has that’s strong enough to make any change, when literally everyone around her is acting like a goddamn clown. I’m sorry, but that doesn’t sound like a bad guy to me. The actual moment Clariel actually turns even is, you will note, not even IN this book about her supposed evil origins. Clariel ACTUALLY succumbs to evil somewhere later after this book is finished, alone and driven to insanity by Free Magic in the forest, one would presume. We never get to see that moment as a reader so even though we now know everything else about her, we still don’t know WHICH character flaw precisely led to Clariel’s downfall, which if you think about it is kind of the only reason this book even proposes to exist.
-and on that note, why the fuck does Belatiel give Clariel the bronze mask back in the end? It was pretty contrived. Wouldn’t the mask hold only terrible, awful reminders for Clariel, a reminder of a time she went awol and almost got the king killed & one of the charter stones broken with his spilt blood?? A time she betrayed the kingdom, consorted with evil beings who in the end betrayed and almost killed her, a time when she was seen as a pure villain, and she actually did get several other innocent people killed, lets not forget that, so it’s also a reminder of the time she became (indirectly) responsible for murder? Again: why the fuck would Belatiel give Clariel back the mask after they healed her? It almost welded to her face while she was using Free Magic and they had to pry it off - it’s just so contriiiiived. Like, I get it: she’s Chlorr of the Mask, The Woman With No Face, so she has to have the mask in the end. But the way she gets it? Is just so forced, like the entire plot that fails to convince me she’s this ‘evil’ person. My real question is why not just go for it and make her evil? That’s what we all signed up for when we opened the book, isn’t it? We all, as readers who’ve read the rest of the Old Kingdom books presumably, know that Clariel is going to end up as an evil necromancer, and later one of the Greater Dead serving Hedge to free Orannis. So why not make that what this is, and give her a convincing story arc that actually shows her descent into evil? She’s way too sympathetic, way too good hearted, even by the end. Just make her evil! She has all the potential, it’s right there - all of the pieces have been set up, but Garth just won’t (or can’t) do it. She’s angry, she’s antisocial, her mother and father are killed and she’s had a taste of power and lusts after it: can’t she just...you know...be a bad person? Is it that hard?
-Lastly, and I know this isn’t important, but in the beginning when the fisherman gets the bottle with the free magic creature trapped inside, and it’s mentioned the bottle was 900 years old, I was really hoping that we were going to have this sort of historical...ancestral line of evil from way, WAY back reaching through time to Sabriel & Lirael’s time via Chlorr. I was hoping that 900 year old creature was what would ultimately possess Clariel, or influence her and become her companion throughout her necromancy career (if you can call it a career?), and that it’s just this long legacy of evil tracing back to who-knows-how far back, maybe left to the reader’s imagination. Anyway. That’s a small bone to pick, but I thought that’s where it was going originally and I still hold that that would’ve made a better story.

Hmm... re-reading SqH and I'm honestly not sure if calling Bramblestar abusive would be an accurate term to describe him, but I still really wish his defenders would just acknowledge how awful he was at all! That is what annoys me the most! Because either way, he was still terrible in the book, no doubt about it. His relationship with Squirrelflight aside, he still sided with the majority to drive out a pregnant queen even though Leafstar was fine with waiting, and initially denied the medicine cats from healing Sunrise!
But no. Everyone just focuses on Squirrelflight. And don't get me wrong, she wasn't exactly a saint in the book, either (hell, the reason for her sneaking out to meet with Leafstar in the first place had just as much to do with her wanting to prove Bramblestar wrong as it did wanting to help SkyClan), but come on!
And I actually personally thought it was fine for him to punish Squirrelflight since she was being reckless, but trying to control her deputy duties and then threatening to demote her seems like a bit much.
I personally do definitely stand by him being abusive in that book, but yeah we can definitely agree it is extremely frustrating for certain people to paint him like he’s a misunderstood saint in this book. Along with Tigerheartstar, his role in this book is one of an antagonistc. Whenever SqH is discussed, a significant portion of people tend to just ignore the entire sequence with Sunrise conveniently, or try to justify it by saying it was a hard choice but he was doing it to appease Tigerheartstar.
1. Tigerheartstar doesn’t need to know, this is ThunderClan business.
2. He literally uses physical force and intimidation to stop his medicine cat from healing Sunrise. The medicine cat is the closest link and representation of StarClan in the clan, it has been repeatedly established in the series that as a leader going against your medicine cat is a big no.
3. It kind of speaks volumes that he’s willing to literally let someone who he has never even met die on the chance that your political rival might find out you helped them.
4. The Sisters literally are the reason his daughter and her two children are still alive, and that’s how you repay them. Tigerheartstar imprisoned and threatened to kill his son a few moons ago based on false assumptions.
And with the punishment thing, it would be reasonable for him to give her some kind of warning or punishment, maybe he could not take her to the next gathering or something? But what he does far oversteps a professional level and attacks her on a personal level.
It really gets to me after all this with everything resulting in two people dying, including Squirrelflight’s sister and almost Squirrelflight herself, Bramblestar’s “apology” says “we should never let things get this bad again” and by doing that he shares the blame for how bad everything had gotten with Squirrel despite him being the driving force for why things got so bad. Squirrelflight repeatedly does try and make amends but he doesn’t budge. Hell it gets so bad that Sparkpelt doesn’t want Squirrelflight to face Bramblestar alone and goes with her for support. Sparkpelt knows what’s up. Anyway that’s just a small piece of why I definitely believe he’s abusive, but like I say even if you disagree we can definitely at least agree that Bramblestar is given far too much leniency in certain circles.
