We have a new game going on in our @scoganbingo discord server, called Mood Board Madness. In this, people post various mood boards, inviting other users to post fanworks for them.

What can I say, @mischief-and-tea-by-the-sea 's board has been living rent free in my head since last night so I just had to scribble up something real fast :D.

"You know, if anyone told me you'd become an even worse neat freak once you get that nuke in your head under control, I'd have asked Hank to never suggest that surgery." Grumbling to himself, a half empty beer bottle on his lips, Logan watched as his boyfriend continued to polish down every inch of the red coating of one of his favorite cars unfazed, instead of doing something actually fun, like spending a Saturday morning off in bed with Logan.

The only positive detail of finding Scott here busy with one of his many obsessions was the fact that his partner had obviously started feeling too hot at some point, spending the morning with one of his beloved wheeled babies and shed his shirt, leaving his well-trained upper body bare save for a few stains of grease and dirt. A mouthwatering sight, just like Scott being bent over the hood of that damn car in a perfect angle to ogle that firm piece of ass Logan happened to be so increasingly fond of … But with Scott so dedicated to this dull activity, all of that was frustratingly out of reach.

"What did you expect?" In a gesture still deeply ingrained in muscle memory, Scott made a move to push up glasses no longer shielding those beautiful sky-blue eyes of his, a slightly embarrassed grin on his lips as he nodded down to the car's perfectly shiny surface. "Now that I can actually see every single stain … This is gonna take a while, Claws; don't wait up. I'll see you at lunch later."

When Logan turned away, lips tight in disappointment and annoyance, he was unexpectedly being hit in the back with that damn polishing rag, uncomfortably cold drops of water and soap dripping down his skin as he hadn’t bothered to put on a shirt himself before sniffing down his lover all the way to the garage. Apparently, that subconscious plan of distracting Scott from whatever had driven him out of their shared apartment had worked.

"On second thought? I also happen to see other things far better now. Like your bike being even more of a mess than my car. So why don't you join me here and when we're done, we spend the rest of the morning getting clean in a long hot bath ourselves? Together?"

A broad grin on his lips suddenly, Logan went to find a bucket and cleaning cloths.

Just to be very clear, if I see "Scott cheated on Jean in this episode" from any person willfully ignoring at the same time that Jean literally cheated on him five minutes earlier, it's block on sight.

Like. I don't have time for this stupid jealousy drama anymore and will willfully ignore it in all Marvel incarnations, in general. But I got even less time for the misandrist notion that apparently, a woman can never do anything wrong and it's always the man who's the asshole. Summary:

It's 20 years after the Battle of Liberty Island, and after the latest couple of almost apocalyptic crises and the odd near-death experience, deaths, and resurrections, Scott finally makes good on his promise regarding a holiday in the Maldives to his wife. Because it's Scott and holidays though, also known as opposite polarities, that planned beach hangout doesn't turn out as it was meant to, of course. The general global mood regarding mutants is once more not exactly shiny after Mystique just had the whole city of New York enslaved, emptied, and turned into a mutant paradise for a while. So when there's an unexpected tropical storm threatening the island group where Scott and Katja are residing and Katja reluctantly reveals herself to the rest of that beach resort in order to clear the sky with her powers and prevent damage and casualties in that little paradise, our heroes are faced with hostility instead of gratitude. Before the situation can get too ugly, our lovebirds are extracted with the Blackbird piloted by Remy and Marie, just having come back from a mission, who have been alerted by Jean telepathically that they need to make a little detour. Sensing how devastated their friends are by the spoiled holiday and the ongoing discrimination issues, Marie and Remy decide against flying back to Westchester but take the jet to Marie's former home state instead as she knows they'll not run into a lot of people there in the countryside. In a run-down country club with lots of karaoke fun, the two couples enjoy a surprisingly nice evening, coming to terms with the realization there are a lot of places even for mutants to enjoy the merits of normalcy and that it doesn't have to take luxury escapes and cocktails under palm trees for a little bit of true happiness.

Summary:

After that whole drama with Maddie and Nathan, Scott and Jean have decided to divorce as they can no longer tell what is and was real in their relationship and can't stand even sleeping in the same bed anymore. After having earned a painful rejection by Jean himself, Logan has finally given up on that dream that was never meant to be and reluctantly comes to Scott's support in keeping the things in the mansion together while Scott is still shaken from having to give up on his newborn son and now his relationship. Challenging his old rival in regular Danger Room sessions to distract Scott and help him keep his mind and body sharp, Logan realizes that with those burdensome feelings and rivalry regarding Jean out of the way, Scott and he have a lot more in common than they'd used to think. Bit by bit, Logan even gets Scott to let go of his latest control issues a little and engage in team activities like cooking and sports for fun which almost ends with Scott burning down the kitchen, trying to make Canadian pancakes for them for breakfast though, and more than one awkward boner in public on Logan's side because Scott looks and moves just as ridiculous as hot in baseball shorts. Obviously, none of them makes a move though because they're firmly convinced, the other one still hates them. When the team receives a distress call by Forge regarding Ororo, Logan and Scott leave for Forge's home only to find it half in ruins and their ally gone, with Ororo nowhere to be seen. After combing the area in vain for hours, they're being attacked by the same mysterious enemy who has already taken their friends and need to return to the house for Logan to patch Scott up and for both of them to take an hour of rest. Which means having to share the only intact bed left while at home in the mansion, Jean telepathically tries to find a new lead for them to follow. Waiting for those news, Scott and Logan, to absolutely no one's surprise but their own, end up fucking their frustration and anxiety away.

Fanfic Writer Ask Game 👻 - What is your wildest headcanon?

In my main verse, I'm having Remy as a former occasional sex worker which is something I grew very fond of by now. Sex work is work, and aside from the necessary and important information about its dangers, we also need far more good representation in media of it out there, not least to fight the worrying rise of purity culture - stemming a lot from fascism - in the last few years. It's one of the few good things Whedon ever did in the shape of Firefly (ignoring that of course he'd had plans to fuck up later, too). Anyway, that said, I'm giving Remy a very independent and positive spin on this part of his life as well, while of course acknowledging the problematic sides often coming with the job as soon as crime is involved. Remy is both unapologetic and without regrets in that regard in my verse, having gone about the job very Finnick Odair, without the whole force angle though. It's been very fun working Remy into the verse of the first two movies in general, and getting Marie and him together, and this was definitely one of the most helpful angles, exploring how understanding she is about everything and kicking his ass for even thinking she wouldn't be; how absolutely uninterested he is about pushing anything physical in their relationship not least because he's very chill about sexuality after that part of his past; and how chill and patient they go about anything sexual with time. I loved doing that arc a lot.

🦋 - Which character is your favorite to write?

Exploring movie!Scott has been a project of mine for about 20 years, so I guess that's always a safe bet. It's one of my favorite pastimes, working a lot of his comic history and details into his movie persona and giving him the depth the Fox-movies didn't have the time and/or interest in providing. I am also very fond of doing the same for movie!Logan, so that would be a close second.

🦈 - Which character is the toughest to write?

Again, since I'm only acknowledging X1 and X2 as my canon, I don't have a lot to work with for some characters, not least with regard to Ororo. Coming up with worthy storylines for her for my verse always proved challenging, and I still feel I need to give her a more rewarding arc at some point.

💌 - Is there a favorite trope you like to write?

I mean, I end up writing literally hundred thousands of words every whumptober, so I guess my hurt/comfort addiction is not really a secret. I blame it on loving all those doctor series on TV as a kid.

Let’s play a game. Send me a potential AU and I’ll tell you five fun facts that would happen in a story. Scott/Logan. 1970s California road trip. No powers.

Scott ends up in the worst bug-infested, grease-moldy truck stop ever that night, and he just about wants to walk back out the second he arrives but there's no alternatives for miles, and he's always gotta get his deliveries done in time if he wants to save up the buck for this damn private pilot license one day. And since he kinda sucked at being a teacher and regular flight schools won't accept him because of his damn eyesight condition, he's only got the road left. Which in this case means spending the night in this shithole and finding anything on the menu that won't give him salmonella, burn right through his digestive tract, or both.

That sleazy unkempt group of lumberjacks has already pissed him off with their digs about his glasses upon entering but he's only stepping in when one of them tries to get up and close with the shy and terrified waitress girl. Because Scott is an idiot who apparently hasn't gotten his damn ass beaten often enough yet in one orphanage after another after his whole family's died in that fucking plane crash. He's outnumbered 1:4 but he's taller and they're out of shape, so he's not worrying a lot. Not until the first switchblade comes his way.

If he's being honest, he's already had his eyes on the outsider of the bully group for a while, sitting there silently by the very edge of the table alone with a bottle of whiskey, because the guy is built like a fucking tree himself and has no interest in harassment or in like, anything at all, apparently. Somehow, Scott always happens to fall either for the red-haired mental cases or the emotionally constipated. It doesn't help his current infatuation that the guy steps in before Scott can have a couple of his arteries kebabed by those knives. He's visibly enjoying the brawl against his now-former workmates, moving fast and strong and obviously field-trained, trashing half the furniture so badly that they're being kicked out by the owner which is just as well because now neither of them has to pay. And because Scott is seriously horny at this point.

They end up fucking on the rest stop parking lot behind a dumpster after patching each other's cuts and bruises up and they're still laughing their asses off, with only that certain familiar hysteric undertone of having barely escaped death and the comfortable wordless intimacy of instant bonding, once you realize you've found a guy just as much a broken idiot as yourself.

Afterward, Scott is on enough adrenaline to drive through the night. Logan doesn't even really ask before he makes himself at home in the passenger seat, feet on the dash, hairy chest out and all, replacing Scott's favorite Johnny Cash cassette with a Rolling Stones tape Scott can't even remember having and silently humming along over the last bit of whiskey. He's been bored of cutting down trees anyway, it turns out. He doesn't even want to stop by his home for his things. Says, he doesn't need any of his shit, none of that stuff having any meaning to him after losing all his memories some couple of years ago, during some bad hit in Vietnam. Besides, there's only some violent, abusive perv of a step-brother waiting for him at home, and Logan's only been waiting for an excuse to lo leave that piece of shit behind. Sun's not even gone up before they fuck in the driver's seat again, by the side of the road, before they drop the delivery together, collect the buck and find themselves some nice burger joint for breakfast. And Scott wonders suddenly if this is what happiness feels like.

Additional Spoiler Alert: The asshole stepbrother will track them down eventually as they're dumb enough to stay in touch with Scott's trucker friends like Bobby, Sam, and Emma via his CB radio, and Scott almost ends up being kebabed again only a month later, because that Victor guy got issues. But the fuck in that cheap Vegas hotel afterward is spectacular, and since they're already in town, they miraculously find someone who doesn't care about gender and shit when he's marrying someone as long as he gets paid. It also soon turns out, it's so much easier, making a good buck on the road, working together. Scott is pretty sure he's still never going to get inside a damn cockpit but at least he doesn't need that stupid dream at night anymore, to no longer want to off himself on the next best highway.
