落水山莊：剛建成就開始維修，漏水傾斜，卻名留青史

落水山莊由美國建築大師法蘭克·洛伊·萊特設計，建成於1939年，被喻為是美國最偉大的現代主義建築之一，座落於美國西賓州的熊奔溪上，與��然景觀融為一體，被評價為一生一定要去一次的景點，念設計系的朋友一定都有在教科書上看到這棟建築的大名。

萊特是現代主義建築的先驅，但彼時他的事業已沉入谷底多時，甚至為了搏知名度還出了自傳。萊特的人品也有點爭議，比如有多個妻子還出軌、拋妻棄子、出軌客戶的妻子。特別是出軌客戶妻子這件事在業界傳開影響甚鉅。

而他的爭議不僅僅止於私生活，他利用他的學生賺錢：長達三十年間，想成為建築師的學生在他家當免費工具人，種地、做飯、打掃，還要付萊特學費喔！而萊特並沒有認真將這些工具人培養成建築師，倒是他的兒子有成為建築師，日後幫老爸的作品擦屁股。

當時名聲事業跌倒谷底的萊特急需一個驚世駭俗之作來打破僵局，而正好富二代考夫曼希望能建造一棟能挑起話題的建築，考夫曼三顧茅廬，重金迎來了萊特替他設計別墅。

落水山莊建成之後豔驚四座，名聲、讚譽、金錢紛至沓來，成為萊特的代表作。落水山莊美歸美，但卻有漏水、塌陷的問題，現在落水山莊早已被屋主捐出作為博物館開放參觀，耗資1150萬美元修復維護。

設計師萊特自比為「世界上最偉大的設計師」（對，法庭上自己說的），不接受任何指教。 

 富豪卡夫曼在委託萊特設計之初，是希望萊特設計一棟能俯瞰瀑布的別墅，但萊特堅持要蓋在瀑布之上。考夫曼看過設計圖後請承包商調查，承包商發現承重遠遠不足，需要增加一倍的鋼筋，萊特勃然大怒，威脅增加鋼筋就走人。 

幸好屋主考夫曼有堅持增加鋼筋（還是瞞著萊特先斬後奏的），即便如此，他們搬進去不久，就注意到房屋正在下沉，到了1990年代中期，下沉已經造成建築物出現裂縫、傾斜、窗框門框變形等問題。 

 濕氣和漏水也是落水山莊一個嚴苛的問題，考夫曼剛搬進落水山莊，一次暴雨屋頂就開始落水，考夫曼詢問萊特怎麼辦，萊特回答：「在下面放個水桶」 

 考夫曼不孤單，萊特還有其他八個客戶的房屋也會漏水，特別是前衛實驗性高的房屋。

考夫曼也不是唯一被講幹話的屋主，佛羅里達南方設計學院的校長發現辦公室漏水時，打給萊特問怎麼辦。 萊

特：「我猜你不得不移動辦公桌了。」 

總之為了漏水問題，在65年間，屋頂和露臺已經更換了數次，但還是繼續漏水。其他地方也有漏水、天花板破損壞、木牆污損，甚至混凝土剝落露出鋼筋。 

課本上沒寫的八卦，不勝唏噓。

落水山莊不是萊特唯一有建築結構問題的設計，萊特另外還有六個建案也有結構性問題，幸好這些問題都由Robert Silman Associates處理，最後在2002年得到永久性的修復，可喜可賀。
