i wanted to seek your help with finding some fcs for a canon character if that's okay. sorry for the lengthy ask, i am providing context to be on the safe side.

so, this character is amara aquilla aka magma of marvel. to nobody's shock, marvel hasn't defined her ethnicity or heritage clearly, but from my understanding (please take this with a grain of salt, i don't mean to misstate facts and i acknowledge i can be fallible), she's brazilian with italian descent (in terms of nationality rather than ethnicity) in the comics — where she is depicted as white. in the animated show x-men evo, however, she's stated to be african-brazilian.

as someone who's passionate about writing underutilised canon characters and giving them the justice marvel doesn't give usually, i am going to be liberal with my comics portrayal of amara and write her as a woman of colour.

with this being said, do you have some suggestions for her fcs? i'm seeking a fem representing person who's brazilian with african (and maybe italian if possible) descent, has a reasonable amount of content, older than 18, and with blonde hair if possible? i know this is a huge ask, so if you answer this ask or could recommend me some other rph blogs that could help, i would really appreciate that!

Do you have any advice or things you followed while learning how to gif? I would like to learn but it seems so daunting

Honestly, when learning how to gif to keep it simple might be the best path. It's daunting because the gifs you often see with the most notes are the flashy, often difficult ones - with a lot of blending, exclusion-colored text, precise coloring layer per layer, etc. But for example if you're giffing a show, sometimes what people look for are simple scenes with dialogue on it. Very edited sets can be too overwhelming and even not good-looking. Once you can do a good basic gifset that just relies on simple lighting fix and maybe a bit of color boosting the rest should come easier to you.

#when you're working with fancasting that might be a little bit more difficult since there's nothing 'set' to work on #but trust me when i say sometimes jsut a little coloring and a layer of text does wonders #a lot of the time those flashy gifsets are mostly about showing off to other giffers (and they're beautiful! there's a lot of technical sk #ill behind them!) but sometimes theyre Too much #some of my most loved gifsets are simple coloring with a good fancast. its the fancast carrying it not the technical skill behind #which. uh i guess my ''advice'' would be focus on the message or meaning behind the gif and keep it simple #once you learn that creating more complex sets should be easier #hopefully this is helpful? 😅 #ask #anonymous #*resources

one thing i think people miss when trying to nail down the like nitty gritty of like-- okay. so post-crisis post-resurrection Jason's a hypocrite, right? and hes purposely fancast himself as the villain opposite bruce in utrh.

but also even while Jason's doing this he *has a point,* and he *knows it.* Jasons got a lot of big moral ideas hes spouting, and from what we see, he mostly only abides by *some* of them. so while you're like acknowledging that utrh/lost days jay is motivated by his emotions and doesn't act in ways that align with his moral principles, but also he *keeps bringing **up** those moral principles*, you start to wonder like. What the hell is going on in that big brain of yours jay.

and what i was getting at. the thing i think most people miss or forget when exploring that. is jasons appearance in outsiders 2003.

im looking through the tpb so im not giving you the exact issue numbers for any of these panels sorry but its 44-46 plus the annual.

but here is the crux of the matter:

so whats going on here in outsiders! is that black lightning, aka Jefferson pierce, aka anissa pierces dad and one of the few really good dads in the dcu, got (basically) framed for murder by deathstroke; believed he (accidentally) actually did the murder; eventually turned himself in to serve his time in prison.

jason happens across this information entirely by accident, and goes out of his way to deliver that information to dickie, who has an on-again off-again relationship with being the leader of the outsiders at this point in time. and im just going to post a lot of it, both bc i like it and also so you see what Jason was going against JUST TO DELIVER THIS INFORMATION:

skipping the first page to save images but jason asks dick to meet up with him in Gotham; the next pages:

im skipping a bit of really enjoyable fighting after that as well but pls know its there. jason asked dick to meet up and dick fully said okay ill come to your rendez-vous *just* to beat the shit out of you. and he was so valid for that. but this aint about him so lets get back to jason:

why does jason bring this up + how does Jason come by this information? well

ok. now youre as caught up as dick is.

some times fools and jackanapes say to me. but sisky why would jason do this and bring this information to dick. why would he try to break black lightning out of prison. why would he do such a thing when he is a known knave, neer do well, scoundrel, etc. to which i say HE TOLD YOU!!! HE TOLD YOU WHY HE DID IT

JASON FUCKING VALUES THE *GOOD GUYS.*

(and also sidenote. winick is writing this so we have to assume he knows how competent and resourceful jason can be bc... as the guy who defined the character after his resurrection... he *made him that way.* so based on utrh we have to assume both that 1) jason could have pulled this prison break off solo and 2) jason *knows* he could pull it off solo...

but he also knows he's a Bad Guy now, and he realizes that *if* he sprung black lightning hed just fucking! turn himself back in! so jadon needs to convince some big goddamn heroes to do it....

so he goes to dick.)

((and also secondary sidenote. willis todd canoncially spent enough time in and out of prison that jason assumed hed wound up back there without telling him or catherine before she died and jason wound up squatting, and he only found out otherwise when he read the entry on the batcomputer on two-face.))

the point is. jason has a *lot* of moral ideas he is not, at this point in time, capable of living by for a variety of Jason Reasons, ill do more meta on that some other time. so he's inhabiting the bad guy role, but sometimes he keeps slipping and falling and accidentally caring about things, and...

god damn it dick, black lightning is one of the *good* guys. like *you're* one of the good guys. aren't you going to fucking help him??

Your fancast for : Katniss, Peeta, Haymitch and Gale?

i really enjoy @little-lynx and her depiction of each of these characters. especially her haymitch art hits the nail on the head.

a brief disclaimer: i headcanon district 12, and specifically the seam, to be of native descent. the amount of roles that are given to indigenous peoples in films are not far and wide. i am not a casting director and am therefore working with limited resources, hence the people that i have selected are indigenous, but indigenous people from all across the world, as i wanted to catch character vibes more so than assuring a coherence.

my long-time go to for katniss has been erana james. any katniss faceclaim should give off those slim and pointed hunter tiny person fast runner vibes, and erana, especially in the wilds (at least the screencaps and gifs) has exactly those vibes. she has that sort of natural beauty that katniss has.

regarding gale, i like the sharp look that d’pharaoh woon-a-tai has. this hunter gaze, the serious face that sooo much makes me think of a gale forced to be a tribute on stage (and not smiling, because fuck them!). and i dunno, i feel like gale so often is perceived as this much older and wiser character compared to katniss and peeta (he's only two years older, 18, a baby in my eyes lol) and it would do some good if the person portraying him also isn't this broad-shouldered middle aged sex god.

for peeta, i like froy gutierrez because he's got that soft blond boy face but at the same time he's also of native descent and i think headcanoning even the merchant people as being mixed is an interesting take, also because it allows me to go with a white boy i like without having to search through the twenty thousand white boys hollywood has cast in the past decade.

for haymitch, it's aaron pedersen. the vibes are neat, and with vibes i mean old guy with beard who looks judgingly at you, likely gone through some shit, can be daddy of the month for the twitter crowd and satisfies the hayffie fandom in terms of hotness degree while we ignore he would probably be an overly thin and shit looking alcoholic two steps away from his grave.

Until Dawn Fan Cast

Wanted to throw my hat into the ring of fan casting the new Until Dawn movie.

SPOILERS FOR UNTIL DAWN BELOW

I wouldn't be surprised if Kathryn Newton becomes the new scream queen so it makes sense for her to follow in Hayden Panettiere's steps. She was brilliantly versatile as her two characters in Freaky & has a natural charisma that would be great for Sam whose all-rounder character could fall flat in another actor's hands. Pretty much everyone agrees on Sam being one of the few left alive if not the Final Girl & I think Newton would excel in the role.

Mike is pretty conventional as a Final Guy - objectively attractive, resourceful alongside headstrong with a funny side. Tom Blyth displays these traits himself in his portrayal of the younger Coriolanus Snow in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes as well as a charisma that had many a watcher rooting for him despite portraying one of the most evil characters in The Hunger Games franchise. It would be interesting to see him tackle the complexities of Mike and even more fun to see him engage in the action scenes sure to be in the movie.

I never got into Stranger Things but from the limited amount I've seen Caleb McLaughlin is one of the best actors in the show. Matt is a contradiction to his own trope. He's a jock who is insecure in his relationship with Emily compared to how she feels about her ex, Mike, but also potentially wants to be seen as the hero. There's very much parallels that can be drawn between Lucas and Matt as well as enough differences and it would be really interesting to see how he would tackle the role.

Olivia Rodrigo is most famous for her music but her acting turns (admittedly in Disney & mv's, yes) have always been received pretty well. Emily is a hard character to cast especially when comparing to original actor Nichole Sakura since Emily is smart and resourceful whilst being blunt and - for a lack of a better word - wonderfully bitchy. There's a certain aura within the SNL performance for all-american bitch and music video of bad idea right? that gave me this feeling i can't shake that i want to see Rodrigo as the likely other Final Girl (I hope Emily survives to the end alongside Sam).

When Sweeney (as Cassie) was hiding in the bathroom in Euphoria, many people were desperate to see how she would fare in a traditional horror film - she plays terror great! maybe it's cheating to fancast her as Jess since she's played a promiscuously perceived blonde 'home-coming queen' type before but... if it ain't broke. I can't see a more perfect Jess to be honest.

according to luckyleftie on tiktok, Ashley's original horror trope was that of the stoner, rather than the academic - which clarifies the origins of the anxiety her character exhibits throughout. Personally, I'd love if they explored this in the film more (it's gonna be rated R after all). Sophia Lillis proved herself in the horror genre as Young Beverly in IT (2017) and would be really fun in the inquisitive/conclusion jumping Ashley. (Also I think she does resemble Ashley/Galadriel Stineman but that may just be me).

(Chris is deffo dying when Ashley doesn't let him into the house it's too potentially big of a scene to not do so) Tony Revolori is a funny actor and as self-proclaimed comedian of the group, I'd love to see his interpretation of Chris who pines after Ashley as well as how he could potentially approach the investigative chapter during Josh's 'prank.' Plus I loved him in Scream and wish we'd seen more screen time of him playing in the horror film.

in all seriousness, Alex Wolff is talented and plays awkward, yet charming alongside disturbed characters amazingly. Josh is quite an awkward guy ('party like p*rnstars' anyone?) and dealing with rapidly declining mental health as well as grief from his sisters' disappearance. Josh is a very complicated character whose actions cannot be justified but mental health cannot be ignored. Wolff could be a fantastic choice - especially if the mental health representation through Josh was updated with more advice and guidance from professionals.
