Tumblr media
safia had been at the camp for about 3 weeks now, she had gotten pretty close to carl and sophia. the three of them often playing together or learning together. about two days ago daryl had gone on a hunting trip, she wanted to go but daryl thought that she’d be a nuisance. the day after that a few people went into atlanta to scavenge for anything really. a few people started to worry, safia didn’t though, she knew theyd all make it back.
once the group finally arrived back (after a LONG few days of the group worrying) safia waited for merle, she had grown fond of the dixon brothers, even though merle could be an ass. but he never showed, she turned around, sitting down on a log by the campfire until she heard morales mention a new guy, she faced the group, wondering who it was. once the sheriff appeared she understood who he was, based on carl and loris reaction. she was shocked, she was told he was dead.
while everyone was sat by the campfire eating, she sat beside dale, he cared about her for some reason. she listened to them all talk about what happened to merle, she kept thinking, ‘what’s daryl going to do when he finds out?’ “i’ll tell him” carls dad said, “i’m the reason merles up there so i’ll tell daryl” she knew daryl wouldn’t take it well at all but alas she couldn’t do anything, so she just went to bed
when she woke up that morning she got out of her tent and looked around, daryl didn’t come back during the night. safia sighed, sitting next to carl and sophia they talked about the new guy, was his name rick? eventually there was shouting over in the woods, the three children turned their heads towards the noise as a few people ran towards the noise. once they came back daryl was with them, she stood up, ready to say hello but rick spoke first. telling him about merle. daryl was not happy, demanding that they go back and find him, rick agreed. safia wasn’t happy that they were going out again but what could she do?

daryl's sweet little boy 🧸
Tumblr media
Daryl woke up to the sound of clinking in the bathroom. It was early in the morning, the sun just starting to rise and shine through the curtains. Nobody was usually up this early.
He shuffled out of bed with a grunt and sauntered to the bathroom, placing his hand on the cold metal knob, twisting it open. There he found his 'girl', face scrunched up, tears running down her chubby baby cheeks, clippers in her hand. Her hair was clumpy and shorter, pieces of it on the floor from where she attempted to cut it.
"Whatcha' doin?" he said out loud, pulling his girl closer by the shoulder, using his thumb to wipe the tears from her eyes.
She sniffled, trying to speak through her tears. "Dada, I don' wanna be a girl," she whimpered, clinging onto Daryl like her life depended on it.
Daryl hummed deeply, pulling him into his chest, stroking his hair to calm him. There was a long string of silence before he spoke. "Here, gimme tha', baby."
He took his face out of Daryl's chest with a sniffle and handed him the clippers, still on and vibrating in his hand.
Daryl took him by his forearm and gently pulled him further into the bathroom, so the mirror was in front of them.
"Stay still, 'kay?" he uttered, putting the clippers up to his boy's hair and starting to shave, chunks of it falling to the tile ground, each stroke making the once nonexistent joy grow bigger in his boy's heart.
Tumblr media
Daryl switched the clippers off, the buzzing sound that once fulfilled the room coming to an end. The tears on his boy's face were dry by now, a big smile spread across his baby face.
Daryl smiled back, looking into the mirror and running a hand through his now short hair. "Ya like it?"
"Mhm!"
"Thought ya would, sweet boy."
He was Daryl's boy, and Daryl's boy forever.

that’s it!!🩷
Hi! Thank you so much for the request!!! 🖤🧟‍♀️💕
A/N: it’s been like MONTHS since I’ve written so sorry for literally disappearing, but thank you all for the love! Love you all. Sorry for how long this took to get out… but I’m finally finishing it at like 1am after so many weeks… so please excuse any spelling errors! Tysm. I adore all of you xx
Rick + daryl x fem! Reader (reader is 19)
Trigger warnings: argument, zombie stuff, gore, usual twd stuff. If any of it discomforts you please read at your own discretion!

Pinky promise
You knew it was a dangerous mistake. You shouldn’t of been so ambitious. But Negan deserved death and you believed you could kill him… but it all became clear that it was a mistake. You had made a dangerous and incredibly stupid decision and you knew as soon as you got home Rick and Daryl would certainly have a go at you if not kill you then and there for being so reckless. You knew you were absolutely insane for doing something so unthinkable but Negan had to die. Rick was taking his sweet time and Negan was just going to get stronger, and that scared you, so you wanted to take it into your own hands and kill the man yourself…
And so here you were gun in hand, pointing it at the clear sheet covering the back of the truck your finger trembling slightly as you waited for the voices to get closer. “There isn’t enough in the truck, we’ll have to go out again. Get more supplies and shit. Alexandria is so big yet they can’t even supply us enough shit.” “Yeah… don’t know why Negan won’t just kill them all. That way we can actually have a good home…” the voices spoke back and forth and you tightened your hold on the gun jaw clenched tightly watching as the blurry figures got closer and as a hand poked in through the clear sheet you pulled the trigger bullets spitting out as the men began shouting, followed by multiple ‘thuds’ proving you had killed a few of the bastards, you continued shooting, even as you jumped out of the truck the bullets flying around mercilessly- some saviours dropping to the floor, dead, and others just falling for the sake of their lives. Your eyes were narrowed as you breathed heavily your teeth slightly gritted together before suddenly a body shoved against yours, Dwight knocking you down onto your back, your gun falling from your hand as you groaned out glaring at the man. “Y/n….” A voice sung out, mockingly and your eyes snapped to meet with Negans. His hazel eyes gleamed with amusement, Lucille lightly hung over his shoulder as he grinned at you “didn’t I get my point across to you before that I really do not appreciate my people being killed…” he spoke your eyes narrowing as you scowled at him. He was a rotten bastard and deserved to be knocked down a peg or two, and so that’s why you abruptly tried to grab your gun again only for Dwight to kick it out of the way “not so fast” he muttered glaring down at you, Negan staring at you the amusement seemingly growing further and further before he exhaled
“I like you, you don’t mess around do you? You just do… I like that…” he smirked before stopping just in front of you holding his hand out for you to take “you’ve actually got balls… unlike someone else we know.” He spoke that stupid fucking grin remaining on his face and you just glared hoping to punch his teeth in, but instead you reached out, grabbing his outstretched hand before he leaned back pulling you up with his movement as you got onto your feet your eyes boring into his with anger “we were planning on heading to Alexandria today so you’re in luck. I’ll get you home safely.” “Rick isn’t home. He’s out.” You spoke, that wasn’t the truth, rick was at home but you didn’t want to see him… not when you know he will indefinitely be beyond mad at you. “Oh isn’t he? How disappointing. Guess I’ll have to wait around with you then huh?” And that’s when you realised just how much you had screwed up… Negan wasn’t going to kill you because he knew that Rick was going to get angry at you… “god dammit…” you whispered under your breath, Negan smiling still before he turned around “c’mon. Follow me. I’ll give you a tour of the sanctuary…” and so that’s exactly what happened, you were shown around, introduced to a few scary people and then given some food much to your surprise… it was odd. Being looked after for by your friends’ killer. It made you feel sick but what made you feel even sicker was what was happening right now… you were sat in the truck beside Negan, driving down the familiar road leading to Alexandria. Your heart was drumming in your chest your face pale and lips slightly parted… you were in deep shit and you knew it.
Breathing soon became nonexistent, your lips slightly parted eyes wide as you watched multiple people on outpost begin to shout… oh dear god. Heavy breaths slowly left your lips your eyes filled with complete fear… sure Daryl being angry at you was enough but Rick too- you couldn’t handle both of their wrath’s. You didn’t even want to experience it but you knew you were going to experience it. “Are you coming into to talk to them?” You soon asked glancing at the man, his hands which were warmed by the leather gloves he wore squeezed at the steering wheel and he grinned at you soon shoving his foot onto the brakes the truck coming to a screeching halt just in front of the gates leading into Alexandria “nah, kid. That isn’t my shit to do. You pulled a stupid fuckin’ decision and now you’re gonna face the consequences. I told you I don’t ap-“ “appreciate you killing my men I know.” You cut him off glaring into his eyes the man looking somewhat impressed before he raised his brows “at least you can learn.” He chuckled out looking forwards as the gate was slowly pulled open “go on then, your friends are waiting.” He spoke and you looked to the gate as well seeing Rick, hands on his hips, jaw tightly clenched and eyes a sea of worry. You glanced back to Negan knowing he wasn’t going to help before you pushed the door open only for the asshole to grab your wrist forcing you to stop “you not gonna thank me for bringing you home safe and sound?” He asked with a cocky grin and you glared at him “thank. you.” You spat out through gritted teeth and he smirked “you’re welcome.”
You then jumped out of the truck before storming towards the gate of Alexandria your eyes landing on Rick and a very infuriated yet terrified looking Daryl but you ignored them- you didn’t want to deal with their anger right now. “Y/n where the hell have you been?” Rick asked, hands remaining on his hips his eyes practically piercing into your soul yet you refused to speak or even look at him because well… let’s face it… he was terrifying. “Y/n where the hell do ya think you’re goin’ huh?” Daryl soon asked gruffly and you glanced at him “home. You wanna give me a lecture. Fine. But not in front of everyone.” You snapped, both men sharing a look, as if questioning whether you had really just used that tone with them but nonetheless they followed after you, you attempted to slam the front door but Rick was quick to catch it before it could latch “cut that attitude out right now, y/n.” Rick spoke calmly his body language however far from calm “I don’t understand why you’re both so unhappy! Jesus Christ can’t I try and help out!” Rick and Daryl stood side by side shoulders brushing against each other and Rick tilted his head slightly “do you realise how incredibly foolish it was to go out there and do… whatever you did… do you?” He raised his brows his blue eyes piercing into your soul and you rolled your eyes “ah ah, no, y/n, eyes on me.” He demanded and you looked at him “you aren’t hearing me- you could’ve been killed. What you did was very stupid. Irresponsible.” He spoke and you glared into his eyes “well I wasn’t! I’m here- am I not? I’m fine!” Daryl then took a step forwards “enough. It doesn’t matter whether you’re fine or not. What matters is the fact that you pulled some stupid death wish shit…” his eyes searched yours before he shook his head “it was stupid. You might’ve been helping or thinking you were helping… but what would we do if Negan brought back your dead body huh?” Daryl asked and you looked away, uncomfortable at that question, because you knew there was no right answer to such a question
“What did you do?” He soon asked and you looked back at him “machine gunned down a bunch of his men.” You murmured shamefully as you looked down, Daryl almost unresponsive whereas Rick was immediately pinching the bridge of his nose his eyes squeezed shut before he exhaled loudly showing his pure discomfort of the entire situation “oh my god…” he squeezed his eyes shut even more before looking at you “how irresponsible are you? Are you unaware of the fact that Negan has killed many people from this community?” Ricks tone was dangerous, frustrated, bordering on the line of anger and protectiveness “what do I have to do to get it through to you that we’re working together to make this safe! We’re doing everything we can y/n,” “no we aren’t! What about the lives we promised we’d get justice for! Have they just all gone down the drain?! We can’t just keep up this bullshit! Either he dies or we die! He’s overpowering us Rick! We need to do som-“ Rick soon held his hand up at you “no! Don’t you-“ “y/n. You’re getting ahead of yourself.” The man reminded you and you breathed heavily your eyes rage full Daryl moving behind you as he slowly rubbed up and down your back trying to sooth you yet your whole body felt as if it was on fire “we get that you want to protect us and this community but-“ “no! It isn’t just that Rick! It isn’t! I want to get- I- I want…” your voice cracked as your heart began to slowly split into pieces ricks expression softening, sure he had seen you open up before but not like this… he hadn’t seen you like this often… nor had Daryl- it surprised both men. “Tell me.” Rick spoke taking a step forwards this time, as he slowly reached a hand out resting his hand atop of your shoulder “I-…. I…” Rick remained silent searching your eyes allowing you to take your time watching as your face contorted in all ways imaginable the anguish, pain and fear slowly creeping up on you “he killed Glenn! He killed Abraham! He killed our friends! Shouldn’t we be trying to kill him! He killed Glenn! He killed-… he killed the guy who saved your dumbass!” You yelled shoving his hand off of your shoulder, ricks expression showing the pain, he hadn’t fully healed- in fact he hadn’t healed at all. He hadn’t allowed himself to grieve anyone’s deaths but especially Glenn’s. Or Abraham’s. He was too busy being a leader. Too busy taking care of his people.
“Y/n we can’t change that… I’m sorry… but we can’t… but what we can’t change either is the fact that if you died we would’ve lost a key part of Alexandria…-“ “we’ve already lost a key part!” Your voice cracked and Daryl stared at you “you’re both bullshit! I can take care of myself! Why don’t you think I can’t take care of myself?!” Your voice grew angrier before you ran off upstairs Rick running a hand over his face and Daryl just watching you run off “don’t go after her…” he shook his head “let her cool off. And you cool off too” Rick spoke and Daryl nodded knowing he was right. He needed to calm down… if he didn’t he would’ve said something he regretted.
A couple of minutes passed- maybe five, or even ten, before Daryl was sent up to console you. You didn’t even hear him come in but you felt the bed dip down before you heard his soft breathing “I did what I thought was best.” You spoke more softly and Daryl nodded “I know… but it was also…” “stupid I know… don’t need to tell me again…” you murmured softly and Daryl exhaled softly “you know we just care about you. That’s why we’re so worried about you… you matter to us.” His hand rubbed up and down your back slowly and gently as you remained curled up in a ball arms wrapped around yourself weakly his touch soft and caring, his rough calloused hands rough against your skin but you didn’t care. He was comforting you… that’s all that really mattered.
“I just-… why do you keep treating me like a damn child?” You asked clearly upset about that and Daryl frowned slightly his stern features growing more soft as he saw the true confusion and frustration in your eyes “because we’ve lost people, Y/n…. Glenn, Abraham, Sophia, Dale, Hershel, Merle, Olivia… too many people to count..” he fell silent before speaking again not allowing you to say anything “and we can’t lose someone else. The stakes are set high. I wouldn’t know what to do if I lost you, Y/n. Rick wouldn’t either… today was stupid… sure you did what you thought was best but it was a little bit silly… but there’s always room for improvement” your head slowly turned to look at him a small smile tugging at your lips before you laughed softly “who knew you could be so sentimental, Dixon” you murmured and he stared at you unamused “I’m being serious,”
You smiled softly “I know… but I promise I won’t do this again alright? It was stupid… I know but it won’t happen again…” Daryl stared at you with a ‘yeah, sure’ look before you rolled your eyes soon holding your hand out towards him sticking your pinky out at him “fine. Pinky promise…” you raised your brows the older man staring a softness soon consuming his eyes before a little smile tugged at his lips, shaking his head but nonetheless he locked his pinky with yours
“Pinky promise.”

Hannah was sitting on her gazebo all morning, flipping through the pages of a new book. Michonne had brought her back Little Women from one of her runs. With everything that had been happening, Hannah hadn't had a chance to start it until now. Her eyes followed along the lines. She wanted desperately to distract her mind with the story, and yet the words meant nothing. They were simply letters on a page, staring back into blank eyes. Hannah's mind was too muddled to notice their meanings. That morning was the Anderson's funeral. And Hannah didn't go. She couldn't.
That past night Hannah didn't sleep at all, her mind playing the images of the last few days over and over. She felt sick for feeling bad for Ron. And yet she felt sick for not. How could she still care about the boy who shot Carl? How could she care about the boy who let Enid go out on her own? But how could she not care about her oldest friend? About the family that had been so kind to her? She wanted to hate him, she wanted to despise him for everything he did, but she knew she never could. He had been with her since the beginning. She had needed him then, and she couldn't just forget about that.
Then Hannah thought about Carl. He stayed in his house these past few days, only allowing Michonne or Denise in when necessary. Hannah had tried to visit the day before, but as she reached the door, she turned around. How could she face him, Hannah thought. It was her friend who had hurt him. Did he blame her? The thought caught Hannah off guard. Of course, she had been dancing around the idea, but the words hadn't formed in her mind until then. What if he did blame her? What would that mean?
Hannah felt rotten. She felt like the creatures that lurked outside, preying on innocent people. Neither Ron nor Carl deserved their fate. And, selfishly, Hannah felt that she didn't deserve the pain that came with it either.
She turned from her book when fallen leaves crunched under heavy boots. Coming from behind her, Hannah saw Daryl walking slowly, his head low enough that his long hair covered his face. Hannah thought he might pass the gazebo, ignoring her presence, but instead, he stood right in front of her.
"Hey, kid." His voice was gruff, hesitant.
Hannah wasn't sure what to say. She had heard about what happened outside of Alexandria.
She looked up at him, "Hi."
Daryl maybe nodded his head at her or maybe just flipped his hair out of his eyes. Either way, they could see each other now. He opened his mouth just slightly as if he were going to speak, before closing it just as quickly. He looked away and sighed, only to look back at Hannah.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Um, yeah." Hannah was even more confused now. She had only ever talked to this man once and now he acted like she was a species he had never encountered.
Daryl groaned, tired of the awkward air, "Look, I'm just, I'm sorry I wasn't there."
"What?"
"Denise, she told me what happened here. I told you-- I promised you I would teach you to protect yourself and now you're all messed up."
Hannah understood now why he was so nervous. He felt bad. She shifted in her spot on the steps, feeling like her healing wounds were somehow glowing. Enough days had passed that she was allowed to take the wrap around her forehead off, exposing the ugly markings she was left with. It barely looked like the 'W' Hannah knew it was meant to be. It was shaky and haphazard, with some parts more heavy-handed than others. Some of the lighter marks had begun to fade, leaving dark pink lines where deep red ones had once been. Hannah prayed the rest would follow in their footsteps.
She chuckled softly at Daryl, lightening the mood, "Daryl, that-- that's not your fault."
He pursed his lips slightly and nodded once more before turning to leave. Before he got too far, Daryl turned back to face her.
"You comin'?" He called out as if it was obvious for her to follow.
Hannah tucked the photo into her page and put the book to the side of her, "What do you mean?"
Daryl gave her a soft smile, "Well, I can't let you get beat up again."
---
Hannah and Daryl made their way just outside of the walls. The sky was somewhat gloomy as they walked, still full of debris from the fallen watch tower. She followed behind Daryl, who didn't say much as they walked, only occasionally warning her about fallen branches or large tree roots. When he stopped, Hannah realized they had ended up by a small creek. She had seen it once when she went out with Carl and Enid, but she never thought to get any closer.
Daryl left her, heading for a nearby tree to place his things. He pulled his bow off his back, balancing it against the trunk of the tree.
"So, you ready?" he asked, causing Hannah to look toward him.
"Yeah, I guess. I never really shot a gun before," She chuckled nervously. She really hadn't. When everything first happened, her father was the only one with a gun. It was a small handgun, scratched up along the handle from use. He had found it on the ground not far from their shed, likely having been dropped by whoever took the rest of the weapons. Hannah asked him once if she could use it, though already knowing what he would say. He told her, as she expected, that she didn't need to know things like that, that this would all be over before she ever needed it.
"A gun? You ain't shooting a gun." Daryl said. Hannah's face must have given away her confusion. "I'm gonna teach you how to shoot a bow." Daryl now gestured to the bow he had placed down a moment ago. The confusion on Hannah's face swiftly turned into a wide smile as she moved towards Daryl and his bow, ready for her lesson.
They started by simply trying to get her used to the weight of the weapon. Hannah didn't want to admit it at first, but Daryl saw the way her arms struggled to hold it up for long. He moved in, taking off pieces of the crossbow that Hannah couldn't name, then handing it back to her.
"There," He said, "better to learn on the barebones anyway."
After allowing Hannah to adjust to the feeling of the bow, Daryl went back to the tree where he had left his things and rummaged through his bag. While she waited for him, Hannah noticed the bow was already loaded with a bolt.
Daryl then walked past the girl, something red in his hands. Hannah watched as he placed a rather small apple onto a log not too far from her.
"Alright pull this part back," Daryl motioned at the arrow when he came back to Hannah's side. She reached forward, gripping the bolt and waiting for a click. When she heard it, Daryl continued.
"Good. Now here's the safety. Only turn it off when you're ready to shoot." Daryl flipped the switch on the back of the weapon, "And always keep your finger off the trigger unless you're shooting, got it?"
"Okay," Hannah breathed out, focusing on the feeling of the trigger hovering underneath her finger.
"Right, now stand a little wider, kid. You're gonna fly back if you don't."
Hannah spread her stance, planting her feet firmly into the grass beneath her. Daryl raised the bow slightly, now lining the scope with her right eye.
"Line the cross up with the apple," Daryl said once the bow was at the right height. Hannah took a moment, acclimating to the new view. Finally, Hannah saw the red fruit through the scope.
"I've got it," Hannah murmured, mostly to herself.
"Now you just gotta pull the trigger," Daryl stepped back, giving Hannah the space to shoot.
She breathed in a deep breath through her nose, and let it come softly out of her mouth. Her mind seemed to race as it had before on the gazebo. Still, she let her finger meet the trigger, wincing slightly at the force of the bow when it released the arrow. Hannah let out a breathy laugh. When she moved the bow away from her, Hannah saw that her arrow had missed the apple. Instead, it was stuck in the ground just by the log, buried in the dirt.
Daryl must have seen her disappointment, and he quickly started for the failed bolt. Hannah watched as he pulled it from the ground, not wanting to make a sound. She'd really thought she had hit it. She had heard the soft breath come out of Daryl's mouth, silently letting her know he believed in her. She didn't want him to be wrong.
"Here, kid," Daryl handed Hannah the bolt, helping her slide it into place.
"Sorry,"
Daryl looked up at Hannah, "Why're you sorry?"
"I just-- I thought I would hit it," Hannah told the man.
Daryl stepped away once the bow was set up again and sighed. "You'll hit it."
This time, as Hannah readied her finger over the trigger, she tried to calm her mind. She breathed in just like before, but this time she focused only on the metal in her hands. She felt its weight, its power. Then, centering the cross on the apple once more, Hannah released the bolt.
"There ya go!" She heard Daryl call out before even realizing she had pierced the apple. She looked to see that she had indeed hit it, just like Daryl said.
For the next hour or so, Daryl continued to set up apples on the log, showing her different stances to take or having her move to different angles. Out of the 12 he set up, Hannah hit 9 right in their core.
"That was real good for your first time," Daryl spoke as he packed up his things, preparing to head back to Alexandria.
Hannah chuckled lightly, "Thanks. I guess you're a good teacher."
"Damn right I am," Daryl said without looking up, causing Hannah to laugh lightly.
While Daryl worked on his things, grabbing the extra arrows and cleaning the dirt off of their tips, Hannah sat on the ground next to the tree.
"Here, kid, put this in that bag would ya?" Daryl tossed Hannah an apple that still had an arrow stuck into its core. It was the first one she had hit. The sentiment made Hannah smile.
"Thank you," she said softly when Daryl came closer, "For everything, really."
He looked over at her but didn't speak.
"I appreciate you coming out here and teaching me all these things, you know?"
"I shoulda done it sooner," Daryl spoke softly, almost so much so that Hannah couldn't hear, "I shoulda been there," Daryl said those words again and Hannah saw the genuine regret in his eyes.
"It's okay, really. I should have been able to handle it." Hannah stood up from the ground, "I did handle it."
"You did, but you shouldn'ta had to"
Hannah didn't know what to say.
"You're strong, Hannah," Daryl continued, looking at her now.
"You think?"
"Yeah, kid, I do."

Hey Loveliessss! I really wanted the first real interaction between Daryl and Hannah to be as good as it could be (though I'm still not in love with how it turned out). I know Carl wasn't really in this chapter either, but I thought it might be nice to have a sweet chapter between all the craziness to come. I hope you all enjoyed it!!
How do we feel about Daryl and Hannah's friendship??
Thanks for Reading!

Shopping Spree, Hangout Dreams | Young!Daryl Dixon x Young!Fem!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*GIF isn't mine*
Summary: While hanging out with Daryl, an old friend decided to pay you an unexpected visit. Not wanting to cut your visit short, Daryl offers to tag along to the supermarket. You agree, which lead to the funniest but best shopping experience of your life. And the hangout afterwards turned into a night you'd never forget.
Genre: Fluff, some angst (mentions of Daryl's dad and his scars—reader knows about his home life.)
Era: Pre outbreak
Warnings: Swearing, blood (from reader's period), mentions of abuse, mentions of Merle being an asshole to reader and Daryl, allusions to money problems (reader chooses the cheapest foods while in the store and lives in a trailer park), reader's mom is implied to be a single parent.
Word count: 4.6k (this got way longer than I expected)
A/n: Honestly my second favourite story I've written. It's not great, but I loved the concept very much and writing about Daryl before the apocalypse turned out to be so much fun! I definitely need to write more about pre-apocalypse Daryl.
Requests are open for any TWD requests if y'all wanna send any!
Part two
“I'm telling you, you're overreacting. How was I supposed to know that it was gonna go flying in your direction?”
“It wasn't even supposed to go flyin' like tha' in the first place. I've been tryin' to teach ya to fish fer months now, but yer hopeless. Stick to buyin' fish from the market fer yer safety and mine.”
You threw one of the pillows on the couch you were sitting on in his direction, trying to look offended but failing miserably due to the burst of laughter falling from your lips. Daryl easily caught the pillow and chuckled, a boyish grin on his face. He flopped down next to you on the couch, keeping the pillow on his lap as he watched you trying to calm your laughter.
“You're mean, you know that? I'm not hopeless, fishing is just hard,” you said with a smile, looking at him through your eyelashes.
The smile you wore and the sparkle in your eyes made Daryl's heart skip a beat. His mouth suddenly felt dry and he felt an overwhelming urge to close the distance between the two of you—and urge he's had for months now—but he refrained, his father's deprecating words about his 'nonexistent' worth echoing in the back of his mind.
Daryl shook the thoughts from his mind and focused back on you, your smile he loved so much still gracing your features. “Nah, it ain't tha' hard,” he replied, resting his arm on the back of the couch.
“Says the fish whisperer,” you retorted, crossing your arms over your chest in mock anger, but the huge smile on your face ruined your facade.
Daryl couldn't help the amused laugh that escaped his mouth. “Fish whisperer?” he asked, a crooked smile on his face as he looked at you. “Tha's what yer callin' me?”
“Yeah, you're a fish whisperer. Every time I try to catch a fish, you lean down to the water and tell the fish to be difficult so that I can't catch them and you get the satisfaction of watching me fail. I've got you all figured out, Dixon,” you joked, a teasing grin on your face.
Daryl shook his head at your ‘accusation’ and chuckled. “Ya got me,” he responded. “Sorry ya had to find out like this. The fish and I jus' have this unspoken bond, ya know? They do whatever I tell 'em to.”
“I knew it,” you replied playfully, pointing an accusing finger at him. “Apologise right now.”
“'M sorry,” he said with a roll of his eyes. “I'll talk to the fish and get them to go easier on ya.”
“Thank you,” you laughed in playful triumph.
“Yer welcome,” he replied with a shake of his head, the crooked smile still on his face. “Now are we gonna watch tha' movie ya promised or are we jus' gonna go back and forth over your lack of fishin' skills?”
“Yeah, I just gotta use the bathroom really quick. You can pick out a movie in the meantime,” you acknowledged, getting up from the couch once you saw Daryl nod.
You headed into the bathroom of your small trailer home and closed the door, heading towards the toilet to tend to your business. However, as soon as you sat down, you saw blotches of blood on the inside of your underwear. You groaned inwardly at the horrible timing of your period's arrival and reached for the box of tampons you kept located near the toilet. However, as soon as you opened the box, you audibly groaned at the sight of only one tampon remaining. You didn't have any pads either due to your mom having used the last one a week prior, so you'd have to make a run to the store.
You finished your business, grabbing a fresh pair of underwear from the laundry basket you had yet to take back to your room as well as a pair of pants, before going back out to Daryl. He patiently waited for you on the couch, the movie he picked out paused and waiting to be watched. He fiddled with the remote in his hands before looking up at you when he heard your approaching footsteps. He gave you a small smile before frowning, instantly noticing the ashamed look on your face.
“Wha's wrong?” he questioned, getting up from the couch and taking a step towards you.
“Nothing! It's nothing, I just...” you trailed off, unsure how to go about telling Daryl about why you needed to cut the visit short.
“Ya jus' wha'?” he asked anxiously, unnerved by your sudden awkwardness. You were never nervous around him, so the sudden awkwardness baffled him.
“I have to go into town. I need something urgently and it can't really wait. I'm sorry,” you apologized sincerely, your tone holding sadness at the prospect of the visit you had to cut short.
Daryl's heart sank at your words. He enjoyed hanging out with you and really didn't want to go home yet. He was sure his dad wasn't passed out from drinking yet and he didn't want to accidentally set him off into another rage and deeply pay the price for it, so he wanted to wait it out here with you. But now he most likely wouldn't be able to.
“Wha' do ya need?” he asked, nervously chewing on his bottom lip.
You hesitated for a moment. You liked Daryl, and not just platonically, either. Despite his rough exterior, he was undeniably sweet, kind, caring, affectionate and so much more. He knew how to make you laugh even if he preferred to be serious most of the time and he always treated you with the utmost respect. But you also knew that both his brother and his father were misogynistic pricks. They didn't know the first thing about women and feminine needs, so they definitely didn't teach Daryl about any of that. You didn't want Daryl to look at you differently or be grossed out by you because of your period. You wouldn't be able to handle that.
“Hey, ya alrigh'?” Daryl asked, snapping you out of your thoughts. His eyebrows were furrowed in a deep frown, his eyes flickering between your eyes in concern.
“Yeah,” you nodded. “I'm fine. I just zoned out for a second.”
“Ya didn't answer my question from before. Wha' do ya need in town?” he repeated his question.
You swallowed nervously before sighing. “I'm on my period,” you whispered, heat creeping up to your face. “And I'm out of tampons.”
Realisation struck Daryl like a ton of bricks. “Oh,” he mumbled, awkwardly fiddling with his hands.
In all honesty, Daryl wasn't weirded out by you saying that, but he didn't know how to go about the information you gave him. He only had the tiniest grain of knowledge about women's periods—thanks to the many women his dad brought home—but he knew that freaking out about it wasn't the way to go. You were one of the most important people in the world to him, and by god he would do anything to ensure that you knew that you could go to him whenever you needed anything, even for something like you needing period products.
“Ya want me to give ya a ride to the store?” he asked, completely taking you by surprise.
“No, I don't want to trouble you. I'll just walk,” you declined his offer, nervously hugging yourself in an attempt to appear nonchalant and simultaneously ward off the pain that would soon stab through your lower abdomen.
“I ain't lettin' ya walk, especially this close to dark. God knows what trouble is waitin' if ya set foot outside this trailer park alone. Tha' new motorcycle gang likes to hang 'round here and I dun' want them to get any ideas with ya,” Daryl replied steadfastly, his mind already set on escorting you to the store.
You smiled at Daryl's worry towards you. It was rare to see his softer side, but when you did, you always cherished it. Daryl Dixon truly was unlike any man you've ever met.
“Fine,” you relented, your voice adapting the playful tone from earlier. “You can drive me, but just so you know, I'm taking advantage of your hospitality. I need to buy some groceries anyways, but I never got around to it because it would be too much to carry if I walked.”
Daryl's lips twitched up into a half smile and nodded. “Alrigh',” he agreed. “But yer buyin' me a Coke fer my valiant efforts of simply drivin' ya to the store.”
“Deal,” you laughed lightly, unaware of the effect it had on Daryl. His heart quickened at the sweet sound of your melodic laughter and he had to duck his head to hide the blush that formed on his face.
“Let's go.” He motioned for you to follow him and you obliged after grabbing the grocery list, following him out of your trailer and over to his neighbouring trailer. The two of you quietly made your way over to his beat down truck, a vehicle he was 'graciously' being lent by his older brother. Or as Daryl once told you, Merle simply dropped it off one day after getting his motorcycle and just seemed to forget about its existence. So now the truck unofficially belonged to the younger Dixon brother.
You opened the passenger side of the vehicle and got in, closing the door behind you. Daryl got into the driver's side and started the truck, his eyes glancing around at the wrappers and few empty cigarette boxes that littered the floor. “Sorry 'bout the mess.”
“It's fine,” you reassured him. “It certainly doesn't look worse than my trailer when my mom and I have been too lazy to clean up.”
Daryl quietly nodded and started the drive to the store, pulling out of the trailer park. The drive was mostly spent in silence until about five minutes in when a bunch of motorcycles whirled past the truck in the opposite direction. Daryl visibly stiffened after one particular motorcycle drove past and you frowned, placing your hand on his arm to try and ease his tension. At the unexpected action, Daryl tensed slightly but soon relaxed under your tender touch.
“Who was it? The guy on the motorcycle? You seem to know him,” you questioned, earning a disgruntled sigh in response.
“'S my brother,” he responded after a moment's hesitation. “He's back in town fer a while but I dun' know why. He hasn't bothered to come see me.”
“Merle's back?” you asked, trying to keep the distaste out of your voice, but failing miserably, causing a small smile to fall on Daryl's face.
It was no secret to Daryl that you despised his brother. The few limited interactions you had with the man were enough to fuel your distaste. Merle either made sexual passes at you, insulted you or questioned your intentions with Daryl. When you didn't fall for his advances or insults, he'd take a jab at your friendship with his younger brother, claiming that Daryl was "pussy whipped" and that you were taking advantage of him. Daryl always immediately shut him down, but that never stopped Merle. Each time it took walking back into your trailer to get the man to shut up.
“Yeah,” Daryl confirmed, his hands tightening on the steering wheel. “I think he joined tha' new motorcycle gang. He's a stupid son of a bitch, my brother. Never learns his lesson, but wha' can I do? He ain't ever gonna listen to me.”
“He's a grown man. He'll hopefully learn from his mistakes,” you started, knowing your words probably weren't much comfort for him right now. “If you want, I can punch some sense into him. I've been wanting to punch him for a while now.”
That seemed to lighten Daryl's mood a bit. His lips twitched into a half smile. “Nah, but thanks fer the kind offer. I'll let ya know if I ever need ya to punch him fer me.”
“Please do. I'll practice and everything,” you joked, playfully punching the air in front of you for added effect, eliciting a small chuckle from him.
“Alrigh', Bruce Lee, we're here,” he laughed quietly, parking the car outside the store.
The two of you got out of the truck and moved to the store. Once inside, Daryl grabbed a shopping cart and leaned his arms on the handle bar, looking at you expectantly. “Where to first, boss lady?”
You giggled and took the grocery list from the back pocket of your jeans, unfolding the paper and starting your list. “We'll come back to the period things later. Let's get the necessities out of the way first.”
Daryl pushed the cart as he followed behind you, walking into one of the grocery aisles. “Tampons ain't a necessity?” he asked, curiously watching you search for the cheapest pasta before adding it to the cart.
You shrugged and walked on, hearing the squeaks from the wheels on the cart following closely behind. “It is, but not before food. I can always improvise or ask one of the neighbour ladies for it, but I don't want to ask for food.”
Daryl nodded, although you couldn't see him. “Yeah, tha's understandable,” he said, his eyes scanning over the products in the aisle.
You continued grabbing things on your list, adding them to the cart. You even grabbed two bags of chips and the Coke you promised Daryl, as well as a drink for yourself. After that, you made your way over to the feminine hygiene section and started looking over the various different choices, searching for your preferred items.
“Wha' the fuck?” you heard Daryl whisper behind you, prompting you to turn around and look at him. You giggled at the sight in front of you; Daryl holding a pack of pads whilst his eyes trailed over the different period products, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“What?” you asked with a giggle, gaining Daryl's attention.
“Why the hell do y'all need so many different things fer yer pussy blood?” he asked bluntly, eliciting an amused laugh from you.
“First of all, don't call it pussy blood. That's disgusting. Second of all, it's all about preference. Some women prefer pads, others prefer tampons and other things. And not everyone is the same. Some women have heavier flows and some women need bigger tampons and pads than others,” you explained, amused at the deep frown Daryl wore.
Daryl nodded slowly. “Alrigh',” he started. “But still, it's a lot. Tampons, pads... And wha' the hell is a fuckin' diva cup? Y'all use tha' to make tea fer yer pussies or somethin'?”
“No,” you responded, laughing lightly at the confused man. “I don't know how a diva cup works because I've never used one, but it's for our periods. Like I said, preference. Some women prefer diva cups over pads and tampons.”
Daryl shook his head slightly and turned away from the shelves, focusing his eyes back on you. “Well, ya got whatever pads or tampons ya prefer? Or do ya use somethin' else that wasn't named in yer explanation?”
You rolled your eyes and smiled, amused. You grabbed a box of tampons, as well as a box of pads, and added them to the cart. “No, I use pads and tampons, don't worry.”
“Why would I worry?” Daryl asked, pushing the cart as the two of you walked over to pay for the groceries.
“I just meant that you didn't have to worry about there being any more "period product" surprises. I don't think you would've been able to handle it if I told you there was more,” you explained.
“Well... 'S there?” he asked hesitantly, chewing on his lower lip.
“Yeah.”
You walked ahead to the checkout aisle, leaving Daryl baffled behind you. He sped up to catch up to you, and together you started unloading the items.
“This was more than I bargained fer when I offered to come to the store with ya,” Daryl said, handing off items to be scanned.
“I said I would walk,” you replied nonchalantly, shrugging your shoulders. “Would've spared you the headache you got from looking at all those different brands and stuff.”
“Nah, I'd take the headache over somethin' happenin' to ya. Walkin' alone ain't safe,” he retorted, giving you a stern look.
“I would've been fine.”
“Maybe, but I wouldn't risk it. Still ain't gonna risk it.”
“Ah, young love,” the lady working at the cash register interrupted, startling both you and Daryl. “You two lovebirds are absolutely adorable.”
Daryl ducked his head in embarrassment, a blush spreading across his face. You could feel your own face flush with heat as well.
“Thanks,” you mumbled, handing the owed amount over to the cashier before moving over to grab a few bags.
Daryl followed your lead and grabbed most of the bags. Together the two of you walked out of the store and over to his truck. You placed the bags in the back of the truck before getting into the passenger side, Daryl getting into the driver's side. He silently started up the vehicle and pulled out of the parking lot, starting the drive back to the trailer park.
“Thank you, by the way,” you said after a few minutes of silence, shifting Daryl's attention to you.
“Fer wha'?” he asked in confusion, shifting his eyes from the road to you and then back again.
“The ride. And for making me laugh. It was nice.”
“My confusion was amusin' to ya?” he asked with a small smile, glancing over to you.
“No, but the things you said were. Especially the thing about the diva cup. Comedy gold right there,” you said with a smile, gaining a quiet chuckle in return.
“Glad I could make ya laugh,” he replied, before a look of realisation crossed his face. “Wait, ain't ya supposed to be in pain? From wha' I know, period's are supposed to hurt.”
At his words, realisation dawned on you. You could suddenly feel a dull ache in your lower abdomen, a telltale sign of a greater pain awaiting you in a few hours. You just hoped that you had some ibuprofen left back at home.
“I'm fine for now,” you reassured him. “The pain's manageable.”
Daryl nodded. The rest of the drive was spent in silence, save for the rumble of the engine and the wind coming through the open windows. You stared outside at the rising moon, the stars starting to light up the approaching night sky. The trailer park soon came into view and Daryl pulled up to your trailer instead of his, putting the vehicle into park. However, instead of getting out, Daryl tensed up as he stared ahead at his trailer.
You followed his line of sight and saw what he was looking at; his father leading a woman into the trailer. His father shut the door behind him, effectively cutting off your line of sight. You turned to Daryl and saw his jaw clenched in anger, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly as his mind seemed to be in another place. You doubted that Daryl even remembered you were still in the truck with him.
“You can stay over if you want,” you said quietly, snapping Daryl from his wandering thoughts. “My mom's working the night shift down at the bar. I've got the trailer to myself tonight and I wouldn't mind having some company.”
Daryl hesitated for a moment. “Ya sure? I can go home. Doubt the old man would notice me slippin' in anyway.”
You nodded your head at him. “I'm sure. Come on.”
Daryl followed you from the truck and into your trailer, carrying most of the bags so that you could unlock the door. Once you were inside and he placed the bags down, he silently admired you as you grabbed a bowl to pour the bought chips into.
Daryl appreciated the fact that you never pried. He had told you once about his father and what he did to him because you'd accidentally caught sight of one of the scars on his back. However, instead of pity, you offered him comfort and understanding, telling him that you were there if he ever needed to talk to someone or needed an escape. You never brought up his home life or his scars, and only ever talked about it if he initiated the sensitive conversation first, which was rare. Because of that, Daryl was convinced that you were an angel in human form. You understood him in a way nobody did, and he would forever be grateful for the chance he got to know you.
You could feel Daryl's intense gaze on you and you could feel your face heat up. Daring to be confident for a moment, you glanced up and locked eyes with him. “See something you like?”
“Mhm,” Daryl hummed in agreement, completely capturing you off guard. You inhaled sharply and tried to slow your racing heart.
Daryl inwardly cursed himself. He hadn't meant to let that slip, but he had gotten so lost in his thoughts and admiration of you that he acted before properly thinking. He blushed for what felt like the thousandth time that day and ducked his head, finding the floor very interesting all of a sudden.
“Well,” you started after clearing your throat, grabbing the bowl of chips and the drinks you bought for you both and walking the short distance into the living room, Daryl hot on your tail. “I'm glad you enjoyed the view. It's my "I desperately need to wash my hair" look.”
Daryl chuckled but said nothing. He got comfortable on the couch, sitting beside you as you handed him the Coke you promised him. “Thanks,” he said, nudging his nose up at you in a nod. “How's yer stomach?”
“Surprisingly okay. I guess the pain decided to give me a break for now. I probably won't be so lucky tomorrow, though,” you responded.
You grabbed the remote and hit play on the movie that Daryl had picked out earlier before you went into town, the opening sequence playing loudly. However, about ten minutes into the movie, Daryl took the remote from you and paused it again, confusing you.
“Can I ask ya somethin'?” he asked unexpectedly, his face conveying how nervous he was.
“Of course,” you replied without hesitation, shifting on the couch until your body completely faced him.
“I dun'... I dun' really know how to ask ya this, and I really hope this won't ruin anythin' between us, but I need to know if ya feel the same,” Daryl nervously said, fiddling with his hands in his lap.
“Daryl, what-”
“Nah, let me finish, please. 'S jus'... Yer so perfect to me, y'know tha'? Yer so kind, so carin', so affectionate. Yer basically a ray of sunshine. Yer the complete opposite of me, and ya could spend yer time with someone who deserves ya, but ya choose to hang out with me. Even though 'm damaged goods and I ain't gonna be nothin' more than a dumb, redneck scum, ya always treat me like 'm this fine piece of priceless art or somethin', and I dun' get why. Yer-”
The sudden pressure of your lips against his instantly shut him up. His eyes widened for a moment before he closed them, his hands instinctively going to rest on your waist. The kiss was slow and hesitant, but loving and sweet at the same time. It was perfect and neither of you wanted it to end, but you soon pulled away, looking into Daryl's ocean coloured eyes.
“You're not damaged goods and you're not a dumb, redneck scum. Don't ever say that about yourself again, you hear me?” you told him quietly, your hands gently resting on his cheeks. After he nodded, you continued. “Where's all of this coming from? I'm not complaining at all, but it's kind of unexpected.”
“I've felt this way fer a while now,” he explained, taking one of your hands off of his face and playing with your fingers. “I never said anythin' because I didn't want to scare ya off, but after tha' lady called us 'lovebirds' and ya offered to let me stay over without question after ya saw my expression earlier... I dun' know, I guess I jus' needed to let ya know how I felt. Didn't know if ya'd feel the same, though.”
You smiled at him and leaned forward to press another kiss to his lips, this one more firm and sure than the first one. “I do feel the same,” you confirmed after you pulled away. “I just never thought you'd like me.”
“Guess we both wasted time not sayin' anythin' 'til now, huh?” he asked, giving you a boyish smile.
“Definitely,” you nodded in agreement, a huge smile on your face.
“I guess we have to thank yer time of the month fer this happenin',” Daryl said. “If it didn't start and we didn't go to the store, tha' lady never would've called us 'lovebirds' and we never would've seen my father and tha' woman enterin' the trailer, so ya wouldn't have asked me to stay over. I probably would've gone home by now if we didn't have to go to the store and probably would've never gotten the balls to say anythin'.”
“I never thought I would be this grateful for my period, but I am now,” you said, leaning your forehead against his.
Daryl closed the remaining gap between the two of you, the two of you descending into a slow, hungry kiss. You brought your arms around his neck and his arms encircled around your waist, bringing you closer into his arms. As the two of you got lost in the moment, you didn't hear the trailer door opening, too caught up in each other to hear anything else. However, the clearing of someone's throat startled you, the two of you practically jumping apart.
“Sorry, am I interrupting something?” your mom asked with a raised eyebrow, her hands on her hips as she looked over the two of you.
You looked over at Daryl, your face flaming with heat at being caught by your mom. Daryl's eyes widened as fear crossed his face, his breathing heavy from your previous actions. You turned your attention back to your mom and sighed.
“Mom, don't freak out. I promise I can explain.”

Please for the love of god write something about Rick chasing the reader down in the woods I’d DIE
(Rick and Daryl x fem!reader)
cw- reader already has a baby with the boys, reader being chased in a maze, threesome, smut, slight breeding kink… think that’s all…
notes- happy Halloween! This is a fun little one shot placed in Alexandria. It is a follow up of “taking turns” however you don’t need to read it to read this. It’s just the same relationship, a couple years later. I had a few requests for a follow up and for some chasing/hunting vibes so… here you go! I won’t lie this is a bit rushed and not proofread at all so I apologize for any errors or if it’s not my best… but i hope you enjoy and tell me what you think<3
“Alright,” Rick breathes out with a sigh, dropping the large box onto the ground. Daryl right behind him with another.
The kids run over. Judith, at just 4 years old, Gracie, Sam, Carl and a few of the older kids and teens in Alexandria. Your own baby coos in your arms. Incoherent, yet adorable babbles leave her mouth, with chubby little hands grabbing into the air in the direction of her daddy.
While Rick cuts open the cardboard box of costumes, Daryl sneaks away from the cluster of children, all way too excited to get their hands on a cape and a mask. Or a dress and a tiara.
“C’mhere, sweetheart,” he grabs your daughter from your arms. Immediately she’s smiling all big and giggling into his jacket.
“Were you good for your mama while I was gone?” He whispers against her dark curls before pressing a kiss to her head.
“She just missed you, I think.” You respond. In reality, she was fussy. You figured that would happen after two nights without her dad. Daryl definitely being her favourite parent.
The kids are noisy as they ooh and awe and fight over the Halloween costumes.
Rick finally makes his own escape with a costume cowboy hat on his head.
“Hey, officer,” you tip your head up for a kiss as he wraps his arms around your waist. Eager to hug you. To touch you.
He stays holding you for a moment. Just soaking in your warmth.
“Miss me?”
“Every minute.” He confirms against your mouth for one last kiss, before moving to kiss your daughters cheek.
“How’s our little princess?” He asks to no one in particular.
“She missed her daddies. Kept me up all night.”
“What?” Rick faked a shocked tone, “our little princess would never. That doesn’t sound like her at all, does it?” He runs his hand over her hair and plants a kiss on her head.
You roll your eyes but your smile peaks out anyway. The sight of your men being such good fathers will never fail to make you smile.
“Daddy! Daddy look!” Judith’s high pitched voice brings attention as she tugs at Ricks pant leg.
When the three of you turn to look, she’s dressed in a unicorn onesie. Adorable. A bit warm for the weather. But adorable.
Rick picks her up with a groan, “oh my goodness, almost too big for this, aren’t you?”
She nuzzles into Ricks chest, little arms wrapping around his neck.
“I think someone needs a little snooze before all the festivities tonight, hm? You feelin’ a little tired, Judy?” He asks her. You don’t hear anything but you see the white fluffy ears on her hood move up and down as she nods into her fathers shirt.
“This little rascal should have one too.” You nod towards your own sleepy girl, “I can go put em’ both down for a nap.”
“Nah, I’ll do it.” Daryl insists.
“Are you sure-“
“I’ve got it.” He scoops Judith up in one arm, balanced on his hip and very happy to be carried to bed. A snuggly little 6 month old on his other. He starts off upstairs and leaves you and Rick in the living room. Surrounded by a foam sword fight battle that appears to have ensued between a couple ninja turtles and a fairy Princess.
The whole reason for Rick and Daryl’s last run was to find these costumes. Among other Halloween decorations and as much candy as they could salvage. Anything to make it a special day. To show the kids what things used to be like. To remind the ones who did know, exactly how fun the holidays were. You weren’t even sure it was Halloween. Sure, the leaves were beautiful tones of orange and yellow, falling to the ground and crunching beneath your shoes. But you arent sure what day it was. Honestly, you arent entirely sure what month it is. However, according to Eugene’s calendar, It is in fact the 31st of October.
Ricks head tips low to your ear and he whispers an invitation to go shower. He needs to clean up. And he really wouldn’t mind some company.
“Carol,” he turns for a moment and nods to her in the kitchen, prepping some food for tonight. “Can you…” he motions to the living room full of children running around. Carol nods and you can hear her telling them to beat it and go play outside while you’re led up the stairs by the hand.
The party is supposed to start at 7. Carol offered to take your daughter for the night, to give you some time off. To have fun. To go to sleep early if that’s what you wanted.
It’s a bit cold out. So you’re in a cream knit sweater and some jeans. A pair of cheap bunny ears are on your head. Your daughter is dressed in the smallest costume you could find in the box, a plush orange carrot. And she’s the cutest carrot you’ve ever seen, that’s for sure.
There’s wine. Lots. And food. And candy. Eugene is setting up a spooky film to be played on a projecter in the middle of Alexandria. A few bonfires surround the yard, scattered with jack-o-lanterns. Carved and lit up with tea lights and glowing eyes.
It’s beautiful. Slightly spooky. And so familiar. It’s everything you remember about Halloween.
An arm snaking around your waist startles you as you sip on your wine. But the smell of smoke and leather soothes you quickly.
“Hey,” Daryl says. You turn to face him, only slightly confused as his voice is being muffled by something.
He’s wearing a mask. A scream mask more specifically. The rest of his attire is typical. His leather jacket on, though no vest tonight. Dark jeans and boots.
“Mmm, spooky.” You lean in and press a quick peck to the white plastic. You can’t see him smile under the mask, but you know it’s there.
Another arm wraps around your waist from the other side. It’s Rick. You know by the thick brown jacket brushing against you. He’s also in costume, wearing a Friday the 13th hockey mask.
“Well hello, Jason,” you tease.
“You scared yet?”
“Should I be?” You ask. Though you’re pretty sure you know the answer.
Rick opens his mouth to respond but is interrupted by some commotion from the yard.
Eugene has a microphone, standing on a picnic table and telling the crowd to sit down and get comfy. That the movie will be starting in two minutes.
“Well, are you two ready for some Hocus Pocus?” You ask.
They look at eachother through the masks. What the hell are they plotting?
“What…?” You finally ask.
“We were thinking… maybe we could do something a little different.”
“What, you wanna watch something else?”
“Not quite,” Daryl chimes in, “we were thinking that while everyone is watching the movie, the three of us can make our way through the corn maze.”
The maze is outside the walls of Alexandria. A bit dangerous, but it was part of the fun. The kids had all had their turns in it earlier in the day, heavily supervised by adults and parents. Ones with weapons and training for situations outside the safety of the walls.
“You want us to all get lost in the maze?” You bite your bottom lip and smile.
“We want you to get lost in the maze,” Daryl corrects you.
Rick dips down to your ear and lowers his voice, “and we’ll try and find you. Play a little game.”
“Grown up hide and seek?” You ask. Heat raising to your cheeks at the thought of what they want to do once they find you.
“Exactly.”
You swallow, looking back to the yard where the kids are all lid out in sleeping bags and on blankets. Focused on the film playing in the dark.
“Ok.”
“We’ll give you a two minute head start,” Rick hands you a switch blade. Just incase. Nodding towards the back fence, where you know you can sneak out without being caught. Your heart is already starting to race a little at the thought of having to hide. At the thought of them searching for you. Hunting you down. And Daryl’s little comment when you start off towards the fence doesn’t help either,
“Good luck, little bunny.”
It’s pitch black when you reach the maze. Actually, as soon as you made it over the wall and into the woods, it was dark. But inside the maze, the stalks of corn all towering over 10 feet tall and fluttering creepily in the breeze. The only light you can see is a faint glow from the moon. And even then, it’s only when you’re out of the shadows.
You walk into the maze. Immediately met by multiple twists and turns. You weren’t one of the supervisors earlier, so you really didn’t know the route. The straw and leaves crunch under your feet as you walk further into the maze. A quick, brisk walk trying to find the best place to hide. Or, if you’re lucky, to find the end of the maze before the boys even get in.
But you know that’s unrealistic. And you’re sure your two minutes must be up because you can hear them. Footsteps and muffled voices behind a couple walls of corn. Shit.
You start to walk faster. A borderline jog at this point, trying to keep your footing light.
It didn’t occur to you until now how easy it’ll be for them to find you. Daryl’s a hunter for Christ sake. He’ll be able to track your path through the maze in no time.
They’re closer.
Fuck.
You have to run. You can hear their voices. They’re so close.
“You’re gonna have to be quicker than that, baby.” Ricks voice rings out towards you. He’s on the other side of the wall. Through the thick corn stalks and the pitch black of the night, you can’t make out exactly where he is. But he’s close.
You run.
And they follow right after.
The sound of their footsteps is clearer and clearer the further away from Alexandria you get. And the further into the maze.
You shriek at the feeling of a hand on your sweater, jolting forward and starting to sprint. It was Daryl. He’s behind you.
And though him and Rick are both stronger, you have one advantage. You’re faster.
Over your shoulder as you sprint you can see them. White masks still on, glowing in the moonlight.
“Fuck”, you swear to yourself when you
come to a dead end. You only have two options. Turn around, or be caught. They couldn’t be more than a few seconds away.
Without really thinking, you shove your way through the stalks. Catching on every leaf and stick, but ultimately coming out the other side without a scrape.
You can’t celebrate your quick thinking victory too long because you still hear them.
“Split up,” Daryl whisper shouts at his friend, and with their footsteps scattered, it’s even harder to tell where they are.
Fuck.
You keep going. You take a left. And then a right and another dead end. Shit. Is this … is this the same one?
You turn back and take the left instead. But it’s another dead end.
What the fuck?
You’re lost. You don’t even know what direction you came from anymore. Circling the same two dead ends before you finally take a right that leads you a couple meters further than the other options.
You hear a stick crack on the ground behind you, but there’s no time to see who it is.
You turn the corner fast with your heartbeat so loud it drums in your ears.
“Shit,” you stumble right into a brown jacket in front of you. Arms wrapping around you and picking you up. You scream.
Someone warm presses against your back as your feet touch the floor again.
You’re trapped.
“Gotcha,” Daryl’s gravelly voice is already in your ear.
You’re breathing heavy in their hold, sandwiched between the two men.
Their hands grab at your sweater and start to roam.
“Take this off,” a voice demands as you struggle against their arms,
You try for a moment to reach the mask covering Ricks face. But Daryl, or maybe Rick’s, hands are clamped on your wrist.
It’s claustrophobic, but you don’t entirely mind. As long as it’s their arms your trapped between, you’ll never complain.
They don’t kiss you. They can’t. But everything about their demeanour is screaming that they want you. That they want to be in you.
Hands gripping and tugging at your jeans. Your hands snake around Ricks neck in front of you as they peel your jeans down your legs. The air is cold and gives you goosebumps, but your legs wrap around his waist immediately. Daryl’s bulge pokes at your ass while his hand trails under your sweater to pinch your nipple. Ricks pants are tight as his own bulge rubs against the thin fabric of your panties. Your jeans long lost to the straw and dirt ground underneath you.
It doesn’t take long for them to get you how they need you.
Granted, the three of you did have a lot of practice. Your panties swiftly ripped off by the man behind you who wanted more access. The cold metal of both their belts hit your skin.
And with little preparation other than some spit and arousal, you’re stretched to the max with both men. Both holes filled with very little regard for your comfort.
They know you’d say something if it really hurt.
But it hurts so good. The pain of being so fucking full. Stretched to a limit you’d experienced over a dozen times, but no matter what, it just never gets any easier.
“Wanna kiss you,” your voice comes out in wet gasps, lips brushing the plastic of Ricks mask. One hand trying for Daryl’s hood, reaching awkwardly around. You need their touch. Their lips on your lips. Tongues tracing each-other and fighting for dominance.
They’d win.
They always do.
The three of you find a rhythm quickly. Hands on your thighs, holding you up and using you as leverage to pound as fast and hard as they could. Your moans and their grunts fill the air as pleasure starts to swirl low on your abdomen.
“Please,” your head tips back in ecstasy. “Please, please,”
“Please what, sweet girl?” The cold plastic of Daryl’s mask brushes your ear.
“Please- want- uh,” you’re interrupted by sharper thrusts from the two men, catching you off guard. Their both picking up their pace.
“Speak up, darling.” Rick demands, nails digging into your hips.
“Fill me up,” you gasp again. “Want it so bad, Rick, please.”
You squeeze your eyes shut, trying to focus on the swirl in your stomach. The one that keeps getting warmer and warmer and warmer until-
“I’m cumming,” you tell them as a courtesy, but you don’t have to. The way you’re involuntarily clenching down around them gives you away far better than a couple raspy words.
“You really wanna get filled up, baby? Bred like the little bunny you are, huh?” Ricks words send you over the edge and a hand toys at the fluffy rabbit ears that are shockingly still secured on top of your head.
You’re out of words. Too stimulated to talk. So you just nod in agreement. Yes. Please. Please.
Their hips stutter to a stop and warm liquid seeps out to drool down your inner thigh.
Breathing heavy, you’re lowered back to the ground, colder now. without the friction of their bodies.
“Here,” Daryl grabs your jeans from the ground and dresses you again. His soft side peaking out now that he’s had his release. Your shoes are back on and your legs a little shaky, and finally, the boys finally take their masks off. The whites of their eyes are bright in the moonlight.
“You alright?” They both ask you as the three of you somehow manage to find your way back out of the maze.
“A little cold…” you smirk.
“But we didn’t-we didn’t scare you too bad right?”
“No.” You smile, “Don’t know if I could ever get that scared by you too love bugs.” You tease, arms wrapping around their waists and pulling them in close to you.
“Pfft,” Daryl brushes off the comment and Rick only smiles.
“Well if we didn’t scare you, then maybe next time we oughta try a little harder.”
“Next time?” You ask. The thought already going straight between your thighs.
The boys share a look over your shoulders that can only mean one thing.
“Hey, baby,” Rick catches your attention, hand guiding you towards the community gates by the small of your back as he searches in his jacket pocket for his keys. “You ever been to a house of mirrors?”

You, you, you.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Reader
Era: Season 10
Word count: 1.2k
Plot: After a long night, Daryl comes home and you decide he needs a little break.
Warnings: It's not smut but its implied? It's nothing explicit ig.
A/N: This is my second fic and I can not believe I'm actually doing this lmao, this is one of my favorite scenes on the show and I've always thought Daryl deserved someone who take care of him after a rough night. Thanks to my friend @weretheones for all the amazing help, I seriously couldnt have done it without u, muah!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The dawn was beginning to come out when the gates of Alexandria came to Daryl’s sight, it had been a long night for him, where everything that could go wrong actually did.
The walk home was silent between the archer and his best friend, the only sound intercepting the thick tension were the grunts of the hooded whisperer trying to set himself free. This would end up really bad, he could feel it in his gut.
Daryl’s mind was spinning around what happened, trying to understand Carol’s actions. He knew she wasn't the same after what Alpha did, but after all these months he could only hope her grief was at least healing — he was clearly wrong. There was something he couldn't identify in her eyes, more than anger or revenge, something that scared him.
Gabriel saw them coming inside and hurried once he spotted their hostage.
“You put us all at risk!” he barked at Carol.
“We need to find that horde before it shows up in our gates” Carol replied.
“So you decided for all of us? Knowing what it could mean?” Gabriel angrily answered back.
“Don’t matter anymore, we still gotta fin’ them” Daryl's voice came from behind the livid father — “We will figure it out'” he stated, ending the discussion as he started to walk home, to his home. To you.
He opened the door slowly trying to be quiet, you were probably still asleep and he would be damned if he perturbed your very needed rest.  Daryl placed his crossbow down on the table you reserved for it.  “Come on baby!” you pouted, “This way you can always know where you left it and it’s easy for you to grab it on a run! It’s a win - win, don't you think?”  Your eyes were so wide with excitement he couldn't say anything else but to peck your lips while nodding “Alrigh’” he simply answered.
The memory made him smile, then, it hit him. That was the reason why Carol’s intentions to stir things up scared the hell out of him: he was finally happy.  After so many years of walking on eggshells just surviving, being with you gave his life meaning, and the idea of you being in danger for her impulsive actions unsettled him, he couldn’t lose you.   Daryl sighed as he began to take his vest off, a fresh pair of clothes should be enough to remove the smell and fatigue from the night before.
“Hey, you’re back” your voice broke his thoughts. Daryl turned to you and his heart jumped.  You were together for more than 6 months now and he still couldn't believe he was lucky enough to behold you like this.
“Msorry, didn't mean to wake ya, go back to sleep angel” he softly said.
You frowned, something was wrong. “What happened? Is everything ok?” you replied with a sweet tone in your voice.
He bit his bottom lip, staring at the window. “It’s Carol, she took one of em’ here, I, huh, helped her '' he wasn't certain why, but he felt ashamed as he spoke —“We will try to make him talk”.
Your mouth formed an “O” picking up on what troubled the archer. Alpha could take retaliation if she knew what happened. Shit.
“Come on baby” you softly said, raising your hand so he could take it. “We need to get you clean first”.
You led him to the bathroom. Unsure of what was happening he followed every step you made with the feeling of thousands butterflies in his stomach. The way his old shirt embraced every one of your curves barely covering your bottom made his heart race. He never thought getting a shower could be this exciting.  Sitting on the sink, Daryl watched you unbutton his shirt very slowly, pecking at the skin revealed with every button that was undone. Soon, his broad chest was displayed and you smirked with satisfaction. Bringing your hands to his neck, you brushed his lips just a little and whispered “Let me take care of you, please”.
Daryl trembled, he didn't feel tired anymore.
Once you were satisfied with the temperature of the water, you took your robe off getting into the shower. Daryl couldn't help but stare as he got rid of his boxers, the sight of your naked body wasn't something he would ever get used to.
The hot water splashed against his ached body, making him gasp with delight. You chuckled at the action “I thought you didn't like showers, huh?” you teased him.  “I like them with ya” Daryl sheepishly answered.
Your eyes traced his whole body searching for injuries that might need more than just some cleaning, to your relief, there wasn't anything new. Taking a sponge, you delicately started to wash his chest, paying extra attention to every one of his scars, caressing them gently, wishing they could disappear along with his pain, just like the soap with the water. Daryl’s eyes were glued to the action, feeling a warm sensation spreading over his broad frame, god, he loved you.
“I know you’re worried” he looked into your eyes, listening to your words closely, “But I need you to understand, whatever happens, I’m here for you, we can always fight together”  You placed his hand on your left breast, “Do you feel it? My heart beating?” Daryl nodded, lost in the sensation of your soft skin against his rough hand.
You kissed him deeply, wanting to make him forget about the troubles of the world he always felt the need to carry on his shoulders. “I love you Daryl” you whispered between kisses. Daryl felt like crying, he wasn't used to this kind of burning, unconditional love. “I love ya too” Daryl managed to answer, unable to concentrate in anything else but the feeling of your lips on his, you were the only thing in his mind. Every fiber of his body was consumed in you. You, You, You.
Soon, the steam from the hot water wasn't the reason the bathroom was boiling, it was the way you both got lost into each other until you became one.
Daryl came out of the house with his hair dripping, Gabriel approached him as soon as he spotted him.
“Did you take a shower?!” he said with a hint of surprise in his voice “I thought we were going to check on that whisperer guy?”
Daryl remained stoic to the father's questions but he felt himself blushing, just when he was about to brush him off Aaron caught up with them.
“Hey! We were looking for you!” he exclaimed, pointing at Daryl — “You showered?!” Aaron’s eyes widened with disbelief and Daryl left a frustrated grunt.
“Can't take a damn shower or what?” Daryl growled as he walked away from the two men with a hidden grin on his face.

Say it
Daryl Dixon x Fem!Reader x Rick Grimes
A/N: ummmm, i need rickyl. i’m not even sorry.
WARNINGS: touching, teasing, dirty talk, begging. talks of p in v and oral, everyone in this is over 18. etc. 18+
Tumblr media
It started off subtle, Rick would notice the way you looked at him from the porch of your home as he was carrying supplies back from a run or how Daryl would notice the brush of your ass against his lap every morning at breakfast while you moved past him to reach for something across the counter, you would purposefully go visit Carol who he just so happened to live with.
Then it turned into wanting to follow them on their runs, they would tell you no that you were just too soft or fragile for the world out there, only looking out for your safety but when you pouted those lips and gave them those eyes they almost caved, every single time.
“Please,” you would pout. “I’ll be a good girl, listen to everything you both say.”
Both the boys would share a glance at each other, it was becoming more hard to be in your presence lately considering the words you would say would twist into their own little dirty fantasies later while they were in bed. They weren’t sure if it was intentional but they knew neither of them had any intentions of questioning it.
“Not happenin’.” Daryl grunts.
“I agree with Daryl, sweetheart.” Rick says with comforting eyes. “You’re just not ready yet.”
After they both got in the car, there was silence between them that both of them were worried to break. It goes without being said that the young girl definitely did turn them on, more so than anyone had ever before.
You were fiesty, young and needing, which only made them both cringe at the unwanted thoughts of wanting someone who was so young while they were both old enough to be your father, not that you minded though, their age is what turned you on even more.
After that, you figured you needed to make your message more clear to them, they just weren’t getting it. Your fingers weren’t enough for you anymore, thinking about the boys hovering over you having their way with you, it was too much to be a fantasy anymore, you needed it to become reality.
One night, you sat, watching both Rick and Daryl carry wood to the fire-pit, lighting it on fire effortlessly. You were mindlessly thinking of how to approach them. Both their muscles flexing as they chatted amongst themselves, you were in your own head watching them. You knew they would never make a move, you were just too young for them, that only made it a challenge for you.
Rick nudged Daryl softly, nodding his head to the young girl staring at them. They were aware of the unusual behavior you had been giving off, although they were not picking up exactly why it was happening. Maybe they were misinterpreting it, they’d had their small conversations about it but it was never a real discussion.
“She’s starin’ again.” Rick says, watching over in the distance at your heated gaze.
You were practically undressing them with your eyes.
“Look at the dress she’s wearin’,” Daryl comments, leaning into rick. “Might as well not be wearin’ nothin’.”
Rick chuckles. Wasn’t that the truth. The dress was a tightly fitted sundress, nothing too fancy. Although the dress was riding up your thighs dangerously close, along with the thin straps making your cleavage pop and the guys found themselves not liking you being dressed like that around other men to see it.
“Think we should go say somethin’? Wouldn’t want any of these men ‘round here gettin’ any ideas.”
Rick has a certain jealousy in his tone that makes Daryl snap his head towards him. Daryl wasn’t much of a jealous person, seemingly because he had never really had anyone to be jealous over, but in this moment, he agreed with Rick.
Daryl sent him a nod and they both hesitated for a moment before bringing themselves over to you. For a moment they seen your excitement flash across your face, getting giddy as they invade your presence. Both taking a seat in the empty chairs on either side of you.
“Hey guys-“
“Yanno this might be a bit too short for a bonfire, you think Daryl?” Rick says, leaning forward to pull at the hem of your dress down.
The action caught you off gaurd, your mouth slightly sitting agape. They were coming off strong tonight, not caring about the people around them or your age. They’d had a enough of the comments, the teasing and it was time to put it to an end.
“Yeah, I agree. Tryin’ to catch someone’s attention, sweetheart?” Daryl now speaks up, leaning even closer to you.
Your breathing hitches, this was the first time both men had been this close to you and scorching hot disire was beginning to run through you. Your thoughts of them touching you and how you’ve been getting off to them every night, it was exciting, exhilarating.
“Cat got yer tongue?” Daryl mocks you, a smirk playing at his lips.
You sat there stunned, the tingling feeling already forming between your legs. You weren’t surprised as you knew that them even just looking at you turns you into a soaking wet mess. The men couldn’t deny it either, one comment from those pretty little lips of yours made a tent form in their pants. Even now, sitting here, sensing your nervousness they were already getting hard, loving to see you fall into their hands.
“Ain’t got nothing to say anymore, darlin’?” Rick raises an eyebrow. “You been so full of conversation since we met ya, now you ain’t got nothing to say?”
You take a breath, trying to steady your nerves. God how badly you wanted them. You couldn’t even put it into words. Driving you insane. The smell of both of them fill your nostrils as they lean closer to you.
“Maybe I am trying to catch someone’s attention.” You whisper. “What’s it matter to you guys?”
Rick and Daryl both smirk at each other. She’s back. Daryls hand was practically inching up your dress, you nervously glanced around finding everyone too indulged in their conversation to realize the sexual tension from far off behind them.
But at this point neither of the men cared if anyone noticed. Their thoughts racing about fucking you until you could hardly hold your eyes open, cock drunk off both of them, falling apart at the seams. They had you right where they wanted you, knowing you would do practically anything to please them.
“Our problem is,” The tip of Ricks nose brushes against your cheek softly. “We don’t like how short this material is, lot of men are lookin’ at you tonight.”
Before you could even think about what was coming out of your mouth, the words slipped almost embarrassingly as your need for them heightened.
“Then take me somewhere where they can’t see me.”
The words were breathy, needy, wanting. They both could sense your need becoming stronger, enjoying the teasing. Almost like they were getting their revenge.
Their cocks painfully hard, aching to be between your legs or in your mouth. They had to stop themselves from looking at your hands, thinking about them wrapped around both of their cocks at the same time while you squirm desperately begging for them to take advantage of you. You begain shifting in your seat hoping they would see your desperation.
“Needy, ain’t ya?” Daryl chuckles. “Want us to take care of ya?”
“Yes,” you breathe. “Please.”
“You think about us princess? When you’re alone?” Rick adds.
Your cheeks heat up instantly, the way they were talking to you was so…dirty…and vulgar. A side of them you had never seen before but have been begging for so desperately. You were slightly embarsssd being this wet and needy in public.
“Y-yes, I do, e-every night.” You shyly admit, not looking at either guys, playing with the hem of your dress.
“What do ya think about?” Daryl graspes your chin pulling your big eyes up to meet his.
You pause for a moment, your eyes closing with the gentle kiss Rick places just below your ear, making you want to whimper. You were aching, wanting both off them to dominate you but they were playing hard to get, challenging you. They knew you were needy, nobody had touched you in a long time and you’ve been building up.
“Why are you doing this?” You whisper, you voice quiet and unsteady.
“Don’t think we ain’t noticed you starin’?” Daryl smirks, his thumb now running softly across your lips.
You pink, pouty lips, he wanted them wrapped around his cock so bad. Drooling, eyes watery, hair a mess as he grabs it into a makeshift pony tail listening to your muffled gags and begs as you bob your head up and down his throbbing erection. It was becomingpainfully uncomfortable to be sitting next to you.
“Needin’ someone to touch you, deseperate for someone to play with that pretty little pussy.” Rick chimes in, his finger tips ghosting up to your inner thigh making you shiver. “Tell us, baby. Tell us what you need.”
Your head falls back, you thank god for your seat being further back away from everyone or else they would’ve seen you falling apart right beside both the leaders of the group, you couldn’t help it. Daryls warm lips kiss your neck, adding more frustration to your body.
Rick on the other hand was loving this. The teasing, the dirty talk, all of it. The risk of possibly getting caught, it was captivating him, realizing that this might end up being an addiction to him, to you. Your legs unsubconsciously spread open to his slowly painfully teasing fingers on your inner thigh. He laughs, patting your thigh, the vibration makes you fidget.
He couldn’t help but to think about how submissive you would look underneath of him, while his cock was stretching you out, hitting that spot while he held your legs open, all on display for him and Daryl to see.
“Say it,” Rick whispers, tauntingly. “Say what you want, babygirl.”
“I-I,” you breathe, losing your breath as your mind rolls into its own fantasies.
“Use your words princess.” Daryl says, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear.
Ricks fingers run up and down the front of your soaking wet panties, too close to your aching core, the action causes your hips to buck to meet his hand. You were throbbing, your clit needing attention from one of the guys. It was overwhelming. You whimper at a loss when he retracts his fingers, Daryls lips still working on your neck as his tongue swirls and sucks at the skin.
“C’mon, darlin, you can say it, we’re gonna make you feel all better.”
“B-both of you.” You whimper, gasping at the pressure when Ricks finger are suddenly back, pressing against your clit through your panties. “W-want both of you. So bad, please.”
Both of them chuckle in satisfaction, enjoying your answer. Seeing how worked up you got when they hardly even touched you was enough to send them feral, wanting to have their way with you in private where only both of them could see.
Your pleasure came to a halting stop when you felt both of their presence leave yours, your eyes opened quickly, both of them standing on their feet, hand reached out for you to take which you quickly took, grasping their hand harshly.
“What are you waitin’ for then.” Daryl smirks. “Let’s go have some fun, pretty little baby.”

safia ran through the woods, a small herd was following her, though she knew she wasn’t able to take them on, there were too many. as she ran she saw blurs of green, brown and blues, she didn’t know where she was going, hell she didn’t know when she was even going to eat again. after awhile of running she hid behind a tall tree, catching her breath. as she stood still she heard rustling coming, it was only one biter. she pulled her knife out and got ready to attack.
she reached nearer and nearer to the noise before it stopped. now was her chance. she jumped out of the bushes only to be met with not a biter, but a man no older than 40. “the hell ya doin’?!” the man shouted, she furrowed her eyebrows. “thought you were a biter. sorry” she turned, ready to go back to the bushes. “hey, hold on” the man spoke, “you don’t look more than 13, wheres your mom?” she shook her head. “dunno. none of your business” safia barked back. “you alone?” the man asked another question, “yeah? what of it?” “you should come with me, i gotta camp back” he pointed behind him. safia thought for a second, she did need food, plus she could take some water too. she nodded, “fine” the man spoke again, “names daryl” “safia” she responded back, quickly.

The Georgia sun beat down on Rick's body as he lifted a dead walker into a truck. His body was damp from all the hard work he had been doing, from carrying hay bales to shooting walkers. You had your eyes set on him the moment he stepped foot on the farm. Something about him drew you in, capturing your heart and your mind. Currently, you were watching him load up the bodies of some walkers to burn from the safety of your kitchen window.
You rested your jaw on you hands and twirled the ribbon in your hair, daydreaming about him while he worked outside. Lost in thought, you didn't realize Maggie had entered the kitchen. She let out a sigh of annoyance when she noticed you were leaning out the window and gawking at Rick. Her frustrated voice snapped you out of your trance, "Are you kiddin' me? Again y/n? He's twice your age, get away from the window and stop starin' like a cat in heat."
You'd always try to sneak a peek at him as often as you could, but it was impossible to do without getting caught a few times. Maggie, your older sister, was always the one to detect it. She disapproved of your 'little crush,' but helped you keep it secret. If your father found out, he'd probably shoot Rick, and his group would be guaranteed an eviction.
Turning away from the window, you giggled, "Oh come on, Mags. I was just admiring the hard work he does for the farm. Don't act like you've never ogeled at that Glenn boy."
Maggie rolled her eyes, clearly displeased with your behavior. "Glenn's around my age. Just get your ass back to work, those dishes ain't clean," she huffed and walked out of the kitchen, leaving you alone.
After finishing the dishes, you had to go outside and feed the horses. Dusk was approaching and you were eager to finish all your tasks so you could find Rick. He always seemed irritated or busy, so you tried not to bug him. When you occasionally got the opportunity to talk to him, you always attempted to flirt. You were jittery and nervous around him, so it never came out the way you wanted it to. 'Accidental' hand brushes and small compliments were the furthest you were ever able to get, and you weren't even sure if he caught on.
Rick was helping Hershel fuel up the truck when he saw you head to the stables. His eyes traveled from the ribbon in your hair to the the hem of your short sun dress. You were perfect in his eyes. The sound of your soft voice was sweeter than honey, and the way you'd look at him with your big doe eyes enamored him. He could see how desperate you were for his attention in those pleading eyes, and it turned him on. Sometimes you'd even try and touch his hands, sending a rush of electricity to him. As much as he wanted to give into you, he knew things wouldn't end well for either of you if anyone found out. 'But that's only if anyone found out.'
The horses chowed down on their grains while you cleaned the stables up. Daryl had done most of the dirty work, so you were just organizing things. You were thinking about Rick the whole time, trying to figure out what you'd say to him if you ran into him. Most of the time it was small talk, followed by your unsuccessful flirting.
The stall doors creaked open as you stepped out, finally finished with your chores. It was almost night, so everyone had made their way to the house for dinner. 'Everyone except him,' when you spotted Rick smoking a cigarette on the porch. He seemed to be lost in thought and didn't bother acknowledging you when you approached him.
"Hey," you quietly greet, interrupting his focus.
Rick turned his head to you and grumbled, "Hey" before taking another drag from his cigarette. He took a second glance at you, his eyes lingering at your legs.
"Can I try?" You blurted, curiously looked at the cigarette.
He hesitated for a moment before dropping it to the ground and stepping on it. "Nah, they ain't any good for you," he answered smugly.
Your eyes shifted away from him in embarrassment from the rejection. He peered down at you and lifted your chin so you'd look at him. The sudden contact surprised you and met his mesmerizing blue eyes with your widened ones. His other hand snaked around you and pulled you closer to him.
Your heart was racing as you both hungrily stared into each other eyes. He tilted your head up and pulled your mouth to his in one swift motion. His hand traveled to the back of your neck and it sent shivers through your body. You wrapped your hands around his torso, pushing him against your body. The taste of the bitter tobacco filled your mouth as his tongue slipped through your lips. It made the kiss even more addictive.
After a few more moments of intertwining your tongues, Rick pulled away and held your waist. He breathlessly whispered, "That's what a cigarette tastes like, darlin'." His deep and raspy southern accent caused a pool of a warmth between your legs.
You were still in a spell from the passionate kiss, so you simply giggled in return. But Rick immediately straightened up when he heard the doorknob of the front door turn. Both of you quickly turned your heads to the door and took a step away from each other. Maggie came out and looked startled to see you both on the porch.
"Everyone's wonderin' where you guys are. What're y'all doin' out here?" She asked suspiciously and narrowed her eyes at you.
Your faces were flushed and the rapid breathing made it obvious. You spluttered, "I just finished my chores, and just y'know, we were just chattin'."
Maggie was unconvinced and furrowed her brows in disappointment from your weak attempt at lying. Rick completely ignored her question and pushed passed her to get into the house. She glared at him before stepping outside and closing the door behind her.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing, y/n?! He's older than you and he has a kid for Christ's sake! Why the hell is he even after someone half his age?!" She hissed, clearly infuriated with the situation.
You could understand where she was coming from, but the world had gone to shit and none of what she said mattered anymore. Lori and Shane had officially gotten together, so Rick was single. And even though Lori and Shane were primarily caring for Carl, you didn't mind that Rick had a kid, especially because he was a sweet kid.
You were frustrated that Maggie ruined the moment and retorted, "It's not your life Maggie, stop being such a pain in the ass about it!"
She sighed and calmed down a little. "Whatever, y/n. Just don't get your little heart crushed by him. Now come in and your eat dinner, or I'll tell Daddy about Rick." There was a slight playful tone to her voice despite the threat.
You followed Maggie back into the house and ate dinner. Rick didn't glance in your direction even once the entire night, and it really did break your heart. Your family and Rick's group were talking together in the living room, but you decided to head to bed as soon as you finished your cold plate of food.
A part of you wanted to cry because of Rick's distance towards you after the kiss you shared, but the other part of you was still so giddy from it. You laid on your bed, still wearing your white sundress. The image of Rick wrapping his hands around you and kissing you replayed in your head. Wetness pooled between your thighs and you slid you hand under your skirt to alleviate the arousal.
Your eyes fluttered shut as you imagined it was Rick's fingers rubbing your clit. Small whimpers left your lips as you touched yourself and thought about him. A smile crept onto your lips when you remembered the way his husky voice called you "darlin'."
Rick felt awful. He was certain that you regretted the kiss, and he avoided looking at you all night. Seeing you was just another reminder of what he couldn't have, but he had the obligation to apologize for kissing you. Although he was infatuated with you, he would fully understand if you never wanted anything like that to happen again. It was all a mistake.
Rick saw you tip toe upstairs before he could apologize. After about half an hour, he decided to sneak away from the group in the living room to go see you. When he got to your door, he could hear your soft cries and whimpers, and it broke his heart. Rick thought you were crying because of what happened, and it made him even more determined to apologize. He softly knocked on the door, but you had been so lost in your pleasure that you hadn't noticed it.
The door slowly opened and he was dumbfounded to see you two fingers deep in your cunt instead of sobbing. "Fuck, baby, you touchin' yourself?" He asked in disbelief. Your brain was hazy with lust and you continued touching yourself in front of him. Your dress had ridden up from your bent knees, revealing your soaking wet pussy.
"Stay," you whimpered out and looked towards him with half-lidded eyes.
Rick shut the door and walked up to your quivering form on the bed. He felt his cock harden at the sight in front of him. Your eyes were glazed over and your climax washed over you. He watched as your legs squeezed together and you felt cunt clenched around your measly two fingers. Your pants and cries filled the room as you came down from your orgasm.
Turning your head to look at him, you noticed the huge bulge in Rick's pants. You slid your fingers out of yourself and crawled toward the side of the bed he was standing over. You got off the bed and crashed your mouth onto his. Rick's hands desperately grabbed at your waist and moved down to your thighs. Your hands were holding his head in place while you kissed him.
He suddenly lifted you up, eliciting a giggle. Your legs wrapped around his torso as your tongue entered his mouth. He moved toward the bed and laid you down on it, breaking the kiss. You began to unbutton his shirt as he hovered over you, but he gently grabbed you hands and held them in place. His deep, southern voice, mumbled, "Y'sure you wanna do this, darlin'?"
"Yes," You whimpered and wriggled your hands free. The kisses he was placing on your neck and chest tickled you, filling the room with your quiet giggles. Your hands went back to unbuttoning his shirt, revealing his toned and muscular body. He was even hotter than you’d imagined, scars littered his warm skin. You could traced his skin with your gentle touch, earning a quiet groan from him.
He moved away from your neck and lifted the dress over your arms, revealing your bare body. A smug grin formed on his face as he teased, “Such a dirty girl, y’ain’t even wearing anything underneath.” His calloused hands caressed your soft skin, sending chills up your spine. A whimper left yours lips as one of his hand wrapped around your breast and teased your nipple.
Rick’s other hand traveled up your thighs, but didn’t go in between them. He had no intention of giving you what you wanted without torturing you first.
His teasing was driving you crazy, so you moved your hands to his belt and decided to unbuckle it.
He quickly grabbed them again pinned them above your head. Those piecing eyes intensely stared you down at you.
"Beg me," He commanded, his darkness making the heat between your thighs even wetter.
“Please, fuck me already!” You pleaded, squirmed underneath him and grinded for some friction.
His other hand held your hips in place, “Use your words, baby.”
"Please, Rick, I need you inside of me," You whined and resisted his hold. He finally snapped and released you. Your hands immediately flew to his pants and unbuttoned them. He helped to get them off, and his hard cock sprang free.
You stared at it for a moment, trying to figure out how the hell it would fit inside of you. Before you could voice your concern, Rick grabbed your legs and rested them over his shoulders. Your pussy was dripping with arousal from all the teasing, and right now he was lining up his cock to it.
"Your so wet, darlin'. This all for me?" He smirked and slid his cock over your folds, taunting you.
"Fuck, oh god. I don't think it'll even fit," You whimpered.
"I'll be gentle," he replied and entered the tip of it into your desperate cunt. He gave you a few seconds before completely going inside in one thrust. You let out a gasp as his cock stretched you out painfully. Rick's idea of gentle was very different from yours. "Fuck, baby, you feel so good. Y'alright?"
"Mhm," you mewled out when the pain subsided, and pleasure replaced it as he slowly began moving. His thrusts were soft but your eager sounds encouraged him to go harder. He pounded into you mercilessly, and the only thing you could think of was how euphoric it felt.
You were engulfed in bliss as his cock slammed into you. The sound of your whimpers and his occasional groans were accompanied with the sound of skin smacking. Your eyes shut as you began approaching your climax, but he grabbed your face and ordered, "Keep those pretty eyes open for me." His breathless southern drawl was what sent you over the edge. You locked eyes with him as your cunt squeezed around him and erotic cries left your mouth.
Rick fucked you through your orgasm, causing you you dig your nails into the veiny arms holding your hips. He moaned and thrusted into you even harder, getting off on the pain. Your slick covered your inner thighs and most of his groin as you climaxed again from the overstimulation. His thrusts faltered and he slammed into you a few more times before pulling out, shooting ropes of hot cum over your stomach.
After catching his breath, Rick grabbed a some tissues from your nightstand and wiped off the cum on your stomach. He lifted you into his arms and whispered, “Our little secret, right, darlin’?”

Records of forgotten times.
Tumblr media
Daryl Dixon x Reader
Old music records bring back memories and sparks talk of a new future.
~~☆☆☆~~\
Today was relaxing day in your Alexandria home.
Daryl had come home from a run and had brought home a literal truckload of items of which a couple of boxes were dropped at your place.
He busied himself moving the boxes into the living room while you continued your work in the kitchen.
"What did you bring back, Dee?" you mused from you spot in the kitchen, where you were cleaning off last night's dishes in your favorite shorts and one of Daryl's shirts that were way too large on you. It was fraying at the hem and the old classic rockband on the print was fading badly, tour dates from a long forgotten time barely recognisable anymore. He never thought twice about you stealing his shirts. They were so much more comfortable than his button downs and with the shirts smelling like him they helped you sleep when he was out on runs.
“Found an old storage place, had a bunch of boxes with music. I got first pick cuz I found ‘em.” He kept filing through the large boxes filled with records and taking each one he liked out to stack near the old record player your house came with.
“Let me have a look too when I’m done here, please?” He grumbled an agreeing response and you made sure to hurry along with your cleaning round so you could join Daryl on the living room floor.
Daryl had gotten up off the floor to fumble around with the record player and try out one of the records and to his luck it still played. He had pocketed some still boxed replacement needles and swapped the old one out before playing a Judas Priest record and got a nice, crisp sound to which he comfortably hummed along to and even sang along with some parts.
As you were hanging your cleaning rag and towel over the opened oven door to dry you mumbled along with some lyrics that had remained in the back of your head.
This surprised your dear old partner to the point of stopping entirely with what he was doing to stare at you enjoying his all time favorite band. “Ya know this music?” He sounded so confused it made you laugh. You never really talked about your old world life, never really feeling it was needed to share about it. Not until now.
“My parents were old school rockers, I grew up on this kind of music.” You had walked over and sat down at one if the boxes.
“Yer calling me old now?” Old. He hated that word, even if you were both adults he still didn’t like the sound of him being put in the same box as your late parents.
“I mean,” You started, not sure how to properly say this without being offensive. You loved Daryl and you were happy with him, really not wanting to make him uncomfortable. “I guess you’re around their age, right? Dad would have been sixty-two by now. He loved this music so much we had cabinets filled with CDs, he'd go to concerts with friends and have music nights every month. Mom woukd have been around fifty-eight I think. She preferred more symphonic stuff.” You were so caught up in your memories you had stopped looking through the music entirely, your hands shakily holding onto one record a little too tightly for Daryl’s comfort.
“I’m fifty-three, if ya really gotta know.” He had moved over to your side and put an arm around you to pry your fingers off the record. “An’ I really hope yer not secretly seein’ me as a father figure cuz I'd love it if my kid'd be one year old in about two years from now..”
You registered his comment and were pulled back into this world with a soft sob. You hoped it’d be saved for later when the sadness that these boxes brought you had blown over.
“I miss them.” Your words were barely above a whisper, but Daryl caught them all. He had managed to get the record from your hands and took a glance at the cover.
The image didn’t look all too different from the current world. A blue sky behind the ruins of a building, and a man in a rather unnatural pose on a regal looking wooden throne in the foreground. The title reading ‘A Farewell to Kings’ by RUSH.
“Yer old man listen to this?” You quietly nodded, sniffling and wiping at your tears that were now freely running down your face. He put the record aside to make a new separate pile just for you.
“Come on, let’s see what else is in here. Maybe some Ozzy. Ya like Ozzy?” You now nodded with a smile appearing on your face. “Y.. yeah, we had a dog named Ozzy. Mom liked him a lot.” The memory of the dog you had for a short while did lighten the mood a bit, thankfully.
Daryl had abandoned his search entirely and only looked through the boxes with you now, picking out records he did like and ended with almost the entire collection by Judas Priest, which you learned was his favorite.
“Oh shit, look!” You held up a copy of Mötley Crüe’s ‘Dr. Feelgood’ with an excited squeal.
“Nah, that’s what yer into? Crazy girl.” He shook his head with a loving smile. By the time you reached the second to last box you had both gathered quite the collection. Daryl had reluctantly handed you all the Crüe records he found, even if they were duplicates. You wanted to keep them because of their different covers. Even in this world you loved collecting and Daryl admired your ability to find happiness in these items.
“Hey, ya want this one too?” A Metallica record. Not one that you knew so you declined. A grumble let you know he heard you and the fwips of records being looked through continued until another one was being held in your direction. This time it was a Black Sabbath record. You took it to inspect the track list on the back and added it to your pile. “Oh! Another one, yess!” You happily pulled out an Iron Maiden album and admired the cover art, taking in all the small details.
“Ya really listen to them or just love the art?” A hand extended to hand you one more. “Ah, thanks. I like both.” You declared, staring at the next artpiece. “But I wouldn‘t be mad if these end up not playing. We could decorate with the cover arts.”
Daryl looked around the still bare walls of the house and loved your idea to make it more truly yours.
With all the boxes thoroughly searched and your collection put away you went to take the leftover boxes to the communal area for everyone else to enjoy. Seeing the other residents get so excited over music brought smiles to your faces and you went back home more satisfied than you’d thought.
“So..” You locked the front door behind you and nervously stepped over to the cabinet that held your newly acquired collection. Daryl followed your every step with a true hunter’s eye, wondering what got your nerves up all of a sudden. “Which one of these do you think has the best baby making vibes.”
“M’sorry?” No way he heard that correctly. He had convinced himself you hadn‘t heard him since you completely disregarded his comment before. “Ya sure? I mean.. I know wha’ I said but,” he stopped and couldn’t get himself to look you in the eyes. Opting for the crack in the floorboard instead. Before he had a chance to find the right words you had abandoned the record cabinet and stepped over to stand in front of him and kiss his cheek. “I love you.” You whispered before properly kissing him and making sure he got the hint that this was really what you wanted.
“But seriously, pick one. We need something loud to drown out the ..other noises.” You joked with a wink.
~~☆☆☆~~
The talk you had with Daryl that day months ago turned out to be true.
When you laid in your shared bed you spoke about the one obvious thing about your relationship and how the Alexandrians were gonna be judging you for it. When word got out about yours and Daryl’s romantic relationship you already got stares from concerned women who thouht you were being claimed by the older man. You both were way more open about your relationship now that you had a safe place to live and try to have a normal life again, but the original residents who had never gone through the horrors that you had never really let go of their old world beliefs. And now that normal life you tried to live also came with your own child shich had the staring and quiet comments becoming even worse. Uncle Daryl already had Judith, who would always make rude comments to whoever dared to speak ill of her new auntie, but now he had you and with that his own soon to be born child and he wasn't gonna let anyone ruin his happiness because of some dumb opinions.

I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY LIKE THAT 😭
Tumblr media
A/N: thank you so much for the idea!!! I hope this is okay!!! I was tempted to go full out and have him be an actual dad, but this’ll do for now. If you’d all like an actual story where Daryl’s a dad of the reader then please do lmk!! Also there are other Daryl father figure stories on my page so feel free to have a scroll!!<3
Synopsis: reader lost her family at the beginning of the apocalypse, she finally breaks and Daryl is there to comfort her.
Female! Reader x father figure! Daryl.
You were upset. Clearly. Like a ticking time bomb. You were staring down at the ground, the group had gone through a hell of a lot of shit to get to this point and the pain of losing people and seeing such blood shed welcomed in a new emotion for you. Pure agony. Agony that you hadn’t felt in a long time. The last time you felt it was when your family had been killed and turned into walkers. And losing all parental figures in one night was devastating.
“You good?” A voice came from the side and you glanced up seeing Daryl resting his shoulder against a tree crossbow hung over his other shoulder as he stared at you worriedly “I’m fine.” You murmured looking away from him, hearing him make a slight laughing sound as if he didn’t believe you “talk to me y/n…” he wasn’t one to ever push but he saw you were struggling. You remained quiet for a while just staring before you slowly looked at him before standing up “I lost my family… to the dead at the beginning of this shit show. They were ripped from me in an instant… sure my family wasn’t perfect but they all loved me and I loved them.” Daryl’s face contorted with sadness as he stared at you sadly. Oh how he wished he had a supportive family… he only really had Merle and the man was toxic as hell.
“I- I- seeing everything today it just brought back all the memories. Hearing my parents scream for mercy… seeing their blood… seeing how the dead ripped their faces off.” Tears were now streaming down your cheeks without you even realising as you let out a shaky breath. Daryl slowly got closer to you “I wanted to save them. I hated that I couldn’t save them… I- I- I needed to save them and it fucking kills me that I can’t go back and rescue them.. I should’ve done more… I- I needed to do more they needed me and I just stood there too scared and then I ran off and—“ your sobbing suddenly grew louder as then and there you broke in front of Daryl. He was the type you could trust. You wouldn’t of opened up like this to anyone else, maybe Rick, but Daryl was like a father to you. At the worst of times he kept you stable.
He wrapped his arms around you tightly “easy y/n.” He soothed holding you close to his chest. He rubbed up and down your back delicately “blaming yourself doesn’t get you anywhere.” He blamed himself over a lot of things so he understood but he knew it wouldn’t help anything. “Not your fault.” He spoke to you quietly as you sobbed into his chest, his grip on you was light at first before eventually he secured his grip on you tightening it as he pulled you impossibly closer “it’s okay…” You couldn’t focus though, only crying more as your hands weakly pushed against his chest, angry at yourself as weak cries continued leaving your lips Daryl keeping a protective hold on you, your hands continued hitting at his chest and he only held you closer to him “easy… breathe…” he soothed as softly as he could.
He dropped his free arm down momentarily so he could drop his crossbow down onto the floor before he pulled you closer to him again holding you tight “I miss my dad…. I miss my dad… I miss him so much.” Daryl’s heart broke for you and he held you closer, pressing a small kiss to the top of your head, his hand soon coming up to caress against the back of your head. “It’s okay.. it’s all going to be okay.. I’m here for you.” He didn’t dare let you go. You continued crying about missing your dad and he didn’t let go, he just held you, and as your sobbing eventually calmed down he pulled back slightly only to see you now clawing at his shirt to keep him there and he knew you needed him so he leaned in closer to you again.
“Your family would be so proud of you for how far you’ve come.” He murmured to you gently. “For killing people?” You murmured with a soft cry. “No.” He pulled back resting his hands against your shoulders “for surviving. We’ve all got to just survive somehow. Right? And you did just that…” he smiled warmly and you sniffled, before his hand came up to wipe against your cheek getting rid of the tears that lingered against your skin. “Look up.” He nodded up and you slowly glanced up at the dark night sky, twinkling stars shining down on you both. Daryl wasn’t the sentimental type to believe stars were lost loved ones but he could pretend for you… “they’re shining down on you always… proud and happy. Supporting you.” A small smile broke out on your face and you leaned into him, holding onto him tightly, “yeah…. Thank you… love you.” You murmured quietly without even thinking and he leaned down kissing your forehead. “Love you too sunshine.”

You could smell the early spring air wafting in from the open windows. The sun illuminated your bedroom in golden rays, creating long shadows that forested the wall. A warm breeze pushed back the soft baby hairs that had fallen from the braid that fell down your back.
Standing at the window was a figure you knew too well. With dark jeans hanging low on his waist, you could see the dimples on his back. His tattoo was the only scarred tissue on his skin, and as you slowly walked up to him and reached out your arms, your skin was perfectly smooth and showed no signs of the hurt you’d been through.
Protected in his arms, your newborn daughter was bundled in a pink blanket, sleeping peacefully in her father’s arms.
He looked down at you with that half-lazy smile and a happy shine in his eyes. “Hi, darlin’.” His voice was as thick as honey, and it poured over you, wrapping you up in a feeling of safety.
You ran your hand down his shoulder, feeling how perfectly smooth his skin was. There were no bumps or scars. He had never been hurt, just like you. The two of you were safe here.
“The light,” You said suddenly, nodding your head towards the setting sun. “It’s so bright out.”
“It’s lighting up the way for you.”
You squinted as the light slowly brightened. The trees beyond your family’s land were being overtaken by the light. “I’m home?”
“Isn’t this the place you miss the most?” He asked you. “The place you always felt the safest?”
You couldn’t take your eyes off the blinding light. It was swallowing field by field. “How did we get here?”
“We’ve always been here.”
“It’s so bright…”
“Does it make you feel safe?”
You nodded, reaching out as the light came even closer. “It feels like home. It feels like a blanket of warmth. Like nothing could touch me.”
“Nothing can hurt you here, darlin’. You’ll be safe with us here. Just me, you, and Josie.”
His words wisped away with the wind as the light came closer, circling and embracing your hand. Shivers ran up and down your arms as you felt the warmth seep into your skin. You closed your eyes as you basked in the touch.
“Open your eyes, darlin’.”
Your eyes shot open, and you were blinded by the light of a flashlight. There was pressure on your back, and you groaned loudly as you tried to remember what happened. Memories of the dynamite and the ground shaking reminded you exactly what happened and what was going on.
Dirt coated your face and itched your scalp. You clenched your fingers into a fist in the dirt, and you tried to move. A shrill ache went straight through your skull, and you struggled to lift yourself up.
A broken wooden beam rested on your back, and you had to pull yourself forward to crawl out. A painful cry fell from your lips as your head swooned. You didn’t need to see a doctor to tell you that you had a concussion--you remembered enough of your medical schooling to tell you the symptoms, despite how long it'd been and how much you’d forgotten.
You shivered as you stood, touching a sore part of your skull and feeling flaky, dried blood fall off. You nearly lost your balance when you reached down to grab the flashlight but used the wooden beam to support you. It had landed on some rock next to you, and it didn’t escape you that those rocks were the only reason you were alive.
You cursed under your breath as you leaned against one of the bigger rocks. Your bow. It was on you during the explosion. You slowly searched the area until you pulled it out, but the quiver on your back and all the arrows were broken. You wanted to cry at the sight of it.
You spotted your husband’s bag five feet away, and it took all your strength to push off the rocks that had it pinned down. You had to tell yourself that he was fine, that he got out before Carol did. He wasn’t down here when shit hit the fan.
You’d only just pulled it over your shoulders when you heard Magna’s voice. “(Y/N), thank God. I thought you were dead.”
Using your flashlight, you spotted her further down the tunnel. Connie was with her. You sighed with relief as you stumbled your way toward them.
“How long have you been awake?” You said as you signed.
“Long enough to find Connie and wait for her to get up. I thought you were dead. I kept yelling for you, but I couldn’t find you. I can barely stand. My head hurts so bad,” Magna said.
You shook your head. “I’m alive. We need to move, though. It could still be unstable, and the noise will bring walkers. I don’t wanna be here if the ground above us collapses.”
Where are we supposed to go?
“This isn’t the only way out. Just the one we found first. We gotta go back and push in. It’s the only way we can get out. Even those freaks didn’t come in this way.” You adjusted your bow and bag, grimacing as the movement hurt your head. “I’m finding a way out of here. I’m not dying in this shithole.”
***
The cave continued to be a network of tunnels and debris. Your flashlight finally went out, and the only one left was Magna’s. Once it went out, you’d be stumbling around in the darkness. So, no matter how bad your head hurt or how much Magna said you all needed a break, you kept pushing forward. The image of Josie’s sweet little face kept pushing you. You needed to get home for her. You wouldn’t leave her without her mother.
You retraced your steps and found a network of tunnels down. Which was where the horde was, but it also meant that the exit was somewhere there, too. Alpha couldn’t have smuggled in tens of thousands of walkers easily.
Around a bend of rocks and dirt, you heard voices and smelt smoke, and you quickly grabbed the flashlight from Magna and turned it off. In the dark, you took a deep breath and whispered. “I heard freaks. Stay here.”
Then you were approaching the bend and peaking around the corner. Three people were standing around on watch, each holding a pike of fire. You turned back and went to Magna. “There’s three of them. If we can get to them and take them out, we can wear their masks and get the hell out of here.”
“And Connie?”
“It’s too damn dark for her not to know what’s going on. She can’t read our lips down here or see us sign. If we get separated...” You said. You grabbed Connie’s hand and traced STAY into her palm. She gave your hand a squeeze, and then you pulled out your machete. “Let’s go.”
You were thankful for the dark as you crept along the rock walls. You were too far out to be seen from the light of the fire, which worked to your advantage. You twisted the knife in your hand as you approached the one closest to you.
Not hesitating for a single second, you grabbed the torch in their hand at the same time you drove your knife home into the back of its head. Carefully setting the body down, you held the torch low. Magna was in the works of killing the second freak on watch, and you quickly approached the last one.
After its body dropped, Magna went to grab Connie. You set the torch down on the dirt as you knelt beside one of the freaks. Your stomach turned as you pulled off the mask. Then you collected the other two, and when Magna and Connie came over, you gave them two.
“This shit reeks,” Magna complained.
You tied the strings around the back of your neck as you breathed through your mouth. “Yeah, I know. Come on, we need to keep pushing forward.”
***
You heard the roaring before you knew you’d found the horde. You’d been walking around for hours trying to find a way out when you nearly walked straight into the horde itself. With the masks, none of the walkers paid close attention to you as they circled around themselves. All but one.
So you slowly walked by its side and brought it toward where Magna and Connie were waiting. Then you put it down.
“What are you doing?”
“The Whisperers know what masks look like on humans. They’ll recognize us, don’t you think?” You said, signing the best you could with the machete in your hand. “We need to cover ourselves up and get through the horde. I was able to see the rock wall, which means the exit is on the other side.”
You want us to follow the walkers out?
You nodded. “If we can find where they brought the walkers in. We’ll get out. I’m sure they’ll have some people on watch, but we can take care of that.”
Then, without waiting any longer, you drove the machete into the walker's gut and started cutting. It didn’t take long until the three of you were coated enough to take the masks off. But you shoved them into your bag in case they’d be useful later.
“Alright… I’ll lead.” You whispered as the three of you approached the horde. “Connie in the middle, Magna in the back.”
Neither of them disagreed or argued with you, and you took the first step into the horde. Your stomach turned at the overwhelming stench of them. Bodies pushed into you, and each deep groan in your ear had you sweating.
I’m getting home to my daughter. I’m getting home to my husband, you kept repeating in your mind. Any time a panic bubble started, that was all you needed to think about. Home. Josie. Your husband. It was everything you needed to keep pushing forward.
It wasn’t until you were halfway through the horde that you noticed that the horde was starting to move. You knew it couldn’t have been you, and when you spotted a few Whisperers about twenty feet in front of you, you knew they were leading them out of the cave.
So you lowered your head and followed them out.
***
It was midday by the time you realized Connie and Magna weren’t behind you, and you’d managed to get away from the horde by walking at a slant and dropping into a small riverside trench. You waited in the mud until the horde passed, and then some to be sure.
When you finally got the chance to look out and ensure you were safely away from them, you collapsed into the river and finally let the tears flow.
You desperately washed the blood off your face and hair, bathing yourself in the cold water to relieve the ache in your head. The water around you was painted red when your face felt clean. You didn’t give a damn about your clothes being soaked. They were so filthy with human and walker blood that water was preferable.
You moved north in the river until it was safe to drink, and you did so until you threw up. Your stomach grumbled hungrily as you made your way up the riverbed.
Where was the horde going? Alpha knew that you knew where the horde was. As much as you hated to admit it, Alpha was smart. She would move the horde or use it to attack. Your eyes slowly widened as you thought about the closest community to the cave systems.
“Hilltop…” You breathed out.
***
You had never run faster in your life. You didn’t stop to kill passing walkers. You didn’t pause to catch a breath. You ignored every ache and pain in your body to keep yourself moving. You had to get to Hilltop. You had to warn them.
You didn’t know when you passed the horde. You only knew from the smell that carried on the wind. You couldn’t see it, but you could hear it. But you caught up to it quickly, thanks to how slow the rotting corpses walked.
And while a part of you wanted to go back into the horde and try to find Connie and Magna, you knew it was useless. They had to figure a way out of the horde themselves. You couldn’t help them. But the Hilltop. You could help them.
So you kept running. Mile after mile, adrenaline pushed you. It was the only thing that kept you moving. It was the only thing that could get you back to your baby, to your husband. If he was anywhere, he’d be at Hilltop. And you prayed to God that he hadn’t brought Josie there after the attacks on Alexandria. You prayed to God he wasn’t even at Hilltop, to begin with.
It wasn’t until you were a mile from Hilltop that you allowed yourself to run slower. You had an ache in your side that’d been persistent the past two miles. You knew you were on the verge of passing out, but God be damned if you didn’t make it there.
Your shirt was soaked with sweat as you saw the wooden posts of Hilltops walls, and you cried in relief. Your legs were shaking as you ran up the dirt road. You could see people on watch moving around on their posts. But you knew when they sat you because you heard someone yelling to open the gates.
As soon as you ran past the walls, the overwhelming sensation of being amongst friends hit you, despite the danger on its way, your legs gave out and you collapsed onto your knees in the dirt.
