@christmascap tagged me to list my otps and notps!! thank you so much lauren <3 + i mean no offense to anyone who ships the /non-harmful/ pairings on my notp list; they’re not my thing, but i’ll definitely respect it if they’re yours :)
otps:
stevebucky (marvel) - are you surprised... i’ve been a casual fan for ages,  but i didn’t get wholly invested until october; now i’m obsessed with them & they’re my favourite ship, within the mcu & outside it!
jjpope (obx) - i have an unfortunate addiction to this show and i love both jj & pope an inordinate amount, almost as much as they love each other <3
cartinelli (marvel) -  i like peggysous, but i love peggyangie infinitely (i’m so glad that arwen introduced me to ac lmao). while s2 is lacking in cartinelli content, s1 had so many moments that made me fall in love with them; it hasn’t been long since i discovered this pairing but i have so much appreciation for it now!
(other ships include natsharon, danbeau, blackhill, peraltiago, sarahkie, spideychelle, trobed, firstprince, & cheleanor!)
notps:
st*rker (marvel) - self-explanatory. if you ship this, please hard-block me.
buckynat (marvel) - yeah so. comic buckynat is a neutral topic for me but mcu buckynat..... the logistics of that are incredibly dicey and make me v uncomfortable also i hc bucky as gay so it doesn’t add up in my head
stevetony (marvel) - i love steve whereas i’m not a huge fan of tony & whenever i see them anywhere near each other i get overly protective.... get my baby away from that man.... nothing against tony but i view them solely as colleagues because to me it doesn’t even make sense that they’re even friends based on what occurs in the movies
jonathan/nancy (stranger things) - i can’t explain this one jonathan just gives me uncomfy vibes... nancy is my baby and i have an urge to protect her
jj/kie and pope/kie (obx) - no.
eleanor shellstrop/michael (tgp) - where did this come from i’m... it feels very weird and unnatural to me and i love cheleanor too much for this to be comfortable
steggy (marvel) - i’ve talked about this enough that i’m sure everyone who follows me understands my feelings on this topic but needless to say i cannot stand them (despite adoring both steve and peggy) and marvel is forever indebted to me for forcing me to endure that horrific endgame scene <3
tagging: @yumings @danielsousa @benoitblanc @anakinskyiwalker @steveswhitewolf @godfreysroman @dinidjarin and anyone else who’d like to do it <3

marvel? any and all verses welcome dkdhkshfksbfksb
001 | Marvel
Favourite character: TONY FUCKING STARK (lmfao who’s surprised??)
Least favourite character: howard stark and, like, 95% of the x-men
5 favourite ships (canon or non-canon): stevetony (all ‘verses), buckytony (most ‘verses), sambucky (all ‘verses but aa for obvious reasons), ironstrange (mcu only), buckynatasha (most ‘verses)
Character I find most attractive: TONY FUCKING STARK
Character I would marry: SEE CAPS LOCK ABOVE
Character I would be best friends with: probably natasha and/or clint in all but 1610. in 1610, probably tony.
A random thought: disney did tony, steve, bucky, sam, natasha, rho—you know what?? disney did everyone dirty. also, superior iron man is hot, fight me.
An unpopular opinion: wanda maximoff, in the mcu, is a good character, and age of ultron was my favourite mcu avengers film.
My canon OTP: stevetony right now. you can bitch all you want about it not being canon, but they got married in 3490, and those two have been consistently queer for each other since the second they met. if you need proof, watch a film or read a comic. they’re disgusting and they should be ashamed. and also invest in couples’ therapy.
Non-canon OTP: also stevetony lmfao probably ironstrange in the mcu. g-d knows i’ve written enough of it, even if it’s very low on my radar at the moment for personal reasons (though i’ve been picking at my ironstrange marvel trumps hate fics and it’s not like pulling teeth nor is it giving me panic attacks so progress??)
Most badass character: SEE CAPS LOCK ABOVE AGAIN.
Pairing I am not a fan of: stevebucky. always stevebucky. i have Opinions™. ask for these opinions at your own peril lol
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): wanda maximoff in the mcu
Favourite friendship: steve & natasha or tony & natasha (both of these outside of 1610, obviously)
Character I want to adopt or be adopted by: SEE CAPS LOCK ABOVE FOR THE BILLIONTH TIME!!!
ask me a (fandom/pairing/character) thing

Favourite avengers movies scenes? Favourite iron man movies scenes? Favourite captain America movies scenes?
Omg, you have no idea how hyped I am because you're the first person who asked me so thank you for that. Anyways, you are in for a long ride because I won't be able to shut up about this.
1. Iron Man movies
Fave scene in IM1, I am Iron Man. That was the line that made MCU a different universe. I think they were gonna follow 616 (based on Tony's prepped statement courtesy of Phil) until RDJ disregarded the script and just opted to say that.
You see Nat going from playful to serious master assasin mode because her best friend is in danger. That scene basically shows that they will do everything for each other (FACT PROVEN IN ENDGAME). Basically, I loved all of Clint and Nat's scenes (kinda a low-key Clintasha shipper) in the first movie. I absolutely love their friendship and how it's portrayed in the MCU in its entirety. I mean I would've preferred that they be a couple but their platonic love for each other is what really got me to burst into tears in Endgame.
Whenever I watch that scene in IM1, I always find myself shaking my head and smiling because of how unbelievable Tony is. A part of me thinks he said that just so he could fuck with Christine Everhart and the other part of me thinks that he said it because he wants to tell people that you can be a superhero, no matter who you are and what your past is. It makes me think that way because before declaring that he's ironman he says that he's not a superhero because of his list of character defects.
In IM2, fave scene is Nick and Tony's talk in the latter's Malibu mansion. The whole conversation about Howard Stark. It highlights the fact that Tony never really got to know Howard. We all know he was a bad father to him but I kinda have mixed feelings about it. I mean, we see our parents as parents until we get to know who they are outside of being that. Personally, I'm just knowing who my mom is, now (I'm 20). Tony never really got that (part of the reason why that scene where Tony meets Howard in Endgame was important, for me).
And IM3, I don't have a specific favorite scene but I love its concept. I loved the fact that they showed Tony having anxiety attacks and PTSD and how he got through that. It's one of the things that made him human and so relatable.
I have to confess that I didn't see any CA movies until 2016. I only watched it because Tony was in CA:CW then I watched CA:TWS before watching CA:TFA. Basically, I watched it in reverse. 😂😂
I also loved the fact that the person who got him through it was Harley, a kid who became Tony's sidekick during that time. God, I don't really know how to explain how important it is to me, it's something that I can't put into words but I REALLY FELT THAT.
2. Captain America movies
CA:TFA, hands down to Steve and Peggy's last conversation. My god, that was heartbreaking. I've always been a sucker for what-could've-beens and almost love stories and they really reflect that. I sympathize with the both of them so much because they have to live with that heartbreak for the rest of their lives. It will always be the one bittersweet thing that they will carry. But the one my heart really aches for is Peggy.
I have a lot of favorite scenes from the avengers movies. I really loved the scene in A1 where Phil pulls Nat from a mission because Barton's been compromised.
I mean just. look. at. that! Holy shit, that grimace and half smile that she does. That's the face of a woman who can't get mad at the man she loves for leaving because the reason of said man for leaving her is the same reason that made her fall in love with him. It's kinda of like the look Pepper gives Tony in Endgame when the latter talks to the former about the time gps.
I'll put it on the list is easily my fave part in CA:TWS. It shows Steve doing everything he can in order to adjust to this world. It shows him moving forward.
And for CA:CW, it's Tony's presentation at MIT. Yep, loved that. It echoes with his character development.
Tumblr media
For A:AOU, I'd say Fury having dinner with the Avengers. I think that's when he says I have you, guys, I have nothing to worry about. We know that AOU takes place after the falling of SHIELD and Nick doesn't really have all the resources that he had before but he still believes. He knows that these are the people who will save the world because they see it as something that they have to do. These are the people he watched closely and saw grow. We all know how the Avengers Initiative came to be after Captain Marvel and saw how soft Fury is back in the 90s and during the dinner in AOU, I see it as a parallel. I've always loved Fury and have always wanted to see how he came to be and who he was before SHIELD fucked him up, you know? And that scene in AOU really gave me a glimpse. I see him as the tough loving dad of the avengers.
(I got the gif from google and it says it's from bitony's tumblr so credits!)
It shows how much he wanted to help people with mental health issues because he's been there and he knows how hard it is so he wants to do everything he can to make it easier. It's for the people who finds it hard to talk to a psychiatrist so in order to contribute, he created a noninvasive tech that helps deal with that (that's why I stan one man, why I can't understand people who calls him selfish).
(P.S. CA:CW could easily be IM4, let's be real)
3. Avengers movies
A:IW honestly fucked me up (they dusted some of our faves!!!). Buuuuuuuut, I'm gonna say the Okoye-Nat team up. THAT SCENE GOT ME LIKE:
Tumblr media
BC I LOVE OKOYE AND NAT SO MUCH!!! And to see them - these two powerful women of MCU who deserves more recognition - team up against the enemy, I swear, the BDE radiating from them.
(Additional stuff: what made me love Okoye way more is during that scene BP where W'Kabi was like would you kill me, my love? And my girl's like for Wakanda? Without question. I literally sobbed during that scene bc it hit me so much, I'm like I feel you, it just shows how much Okoye loves her country and that spoke to me)
SPOILERS AHEAD.
AS FOR ENDGAME, GOD DAMN, I LOVED EVERY MOMENT. It's easily my favorite Marvel movie. Stevetonies won in that movie, Clintasha shippers won, Thorbruce shippers won. It's basically a service to the people. I know some have been hating on it (especially on Steve's ending) but I think tied everything up.
Endgame's opening scene was Clint teaching his daughter archery. That was so soft for me. The last we saw him was CA:CW (and tbh, I didn't like him in that movie bc he's such an asshole to Tony, like the things he said cut deep) and then now we know he's on house arrest just like Scott and being happy with his family. I loved how normal it was bc that normalness made it so painful when they disappeared. Then we saw Clint become Ronin. It's a parallel, to me, because it shows that the good can be bad. It showed us flaws and that losing someone really brings out the worse in us. But he's storyline also showed how much a bad person can change with the help of other people.
Now, let's talk about Nat and Tony, let's be real, those two heroes started it. I mean, sure, Downey really started the MCU but Scarlett immediately followed him (IM2). To see their characters' journey end meaningfully by saving their families and creating a better future for the world, I gotta say, it may not be the ending we wanted (bc we want everyone to live) but they died doing what they love most, you know? They died knowing that they made a better future for everyone. And if they're gonna go, they have to go like the hero they truly are.
For Steve's arc, I'm not mad at it. I actually smiled when I saw how happy he was with Peggy. I would have wanted for him to stay in the present but I kinda get why he did it. I know it doesn't really reflect the comics (since Steve grew to love the 'future' in there) but MCU is a different universe. Steve's always been selfless, always puts the world's interest before his so to see him finally putting himself first by following Tony's advice (back in AOU) makes me understand. Like, okay, finally, this guy does something for himself.
I LOVED THOR. I know a friend of mine thought that Thor was a laughing stock during Endgame but I deemed him gaining weight as an important arc his character. Thor lost everything: Friga, Odin, Loki, Asgard, Heimdall, the people he's supposed to lead... Then he failed to stop Thanos because he didn't go for the head. He thinks he failed, he thought it was fault. He became an alcoholic, he was depressed but hides it behind jokes. I feel like somewhere in there he thought he wasn't worthy anymore. That's why he doesn't use stormbreaker, anymore. That's why for the last 5 years, he's 'not' the god of thunder. Also the reason during time heist, when he was able to call for mjolnir, it made me smile from ear to ear. Thor's endgame arc proved that no matter how depressed you are or how much of a failure you think you are, you're still worthy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bruce, Brucie-bear, Bruce... finally, he learned to accept Hulk. At first, I thought it was funny that he's Bruce and Hulk at the same time but the more I think about it, the more I saw how much Bruce grew. I mean, flashback in A1 when Tony told him to accept the guy and think of them as one instead of two different people, I remember how much he hated that idea because he sees himself as a monster and then in Endgame, we see him finally accepting his demons and actually became a better person because of it. Like, it really reflects how things would become better if we just embrace and love ourselves for who we are, you know?
THAT'S ABOUT EVERYTHING.

so i saw endgame. spoilers below obviously.
so anybody that knows me, knows that tony stark is hugely important to me. i started reading iron man comics that i stole from my brother at the age of 8, and he has been my favourite ever since. bucky barnes is like right up there, but tony stark always has the edge.
going in, i was terrified of what might happen thinking rdj is the end, right? it’s obvious he’s gonna leave somehow but that does not in any way prepare you for what’s gonna come. i am at a loss tbh. i haven’t even tried to put my feelings into thoughts because it’s genuinely heartbreaking. i was sobbing in the cinema and had tickets for this morning which i had to cancel because i could not put myself through that again so soon.
sure, it’s in the last part of the movie but jesus, it hurts.
natasha. what an awful, awful, AWFUL way for her to die. the fact that it was her and not clint will always fuck me off tbh. she deserved better and she deserved to keep her family. IT WASN’T EVEN A SACRIFICE. it was an accident.
i don’t .... i cannot put into words how devastated i am that the two characters i lost are tony and natasha. it’s heartbreaking.
that said, the movie itself was great but full of gaping issues lmao.
the time shit just doesn’t work. whatever explanation they give, the past becoming the future, the future being present blah blah doesn’t work when you have characters changing KEY EVENTS and things still progress as normal? S U R E.
don’t get me started on the idiocy that was steve going back in time to spend ~forever with peggy. i’ve seen people argue both sides; it works! somebody would notice peggy married to steve! to me, it’s just a lazy way to get him out of commission for the hand over of the shield.
the worst thing is, it CANT MAKE SENSE and everything work out the same way. it just cant, no matter what shitty reason they give.
returning the stones? dumb as rocks. how you GONNA RETURN THE SOUL STONE? the 70s? no big deal, just walk back into the bunker and pretend i know what im doing. the scepter? the time stone? the REALITY STONE? steve rogers just walking onto asgard and putting the ether back in jane? jshajf IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE and they were just like HERE HAVE OLD STEVE AND FORGET THAT WE DIDNT EXPLAIN SHIT ABOUT HOW HE WAS GONNA RETURN THE STONES BYE
a l so the whole howard stark and tony MESS just upset me. i get it, we want redemption for howard because apparently the russos love him or disney was like “make him great! tony’s a father! let’s have some emotions!” but howard stark is a shitty father at best, abusive at worst and i HATE IT. get out of here with that shit.
PEGGY WAS AMAZING AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE JARVIS FROM AGENT CARTER BECAUSE Y E S
that said, a MESS EVERYWHERE TBH
ugh.
PROFESSOR HULK. i’m... in two minds. I LOVED IT and i know the bff did lol, but it’s also super weird to me BUT IM SURE I’LL GET USED TO IT BRUCE WAS GREAT THIS EPISODE and him getting to undo the snap was PERFECT
clint’s journey was pretty much wasted, i hated the whole nebula killing nebula and there being no repercussions from that? thanos was just .... didnt make sense idek, i forgot how much i hated his reasoning in iw and it wasn’t helped in eg, and then i had to deal with him being like “lol im gonna sit here and let you come to me and it’s clear my message is correct and dlkjhdja no”
thor’s journey distressed me in so many ways. it was played for laughs so many times and just generally hurt my soul. it should have been handled better. when the only person doing the right thing with thor is rocket the fucking raccoon? we got problems.
DONT GET ME WRONG THERE WERE SOME EPIC MOMENTS
steve wielding mjolnir will forever be my favourite thing. with that, STEVE AND TONY AND THOR being the PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT trio in that end fight. YES THANKS. tony stark saving the universe twice over; once with the time loop and the second time with the gauntlet. pepper potts being perfect and awesome. she saved the universe, guys, with her convincing tony to go. never forget. AND IRON HEART YES THANKS. it was VISUALLY STUNNING and the fight scenes were great everyone got a great showing, tbh, and i love everyone carol was... actually well handled. i was concerned for a while how they would handle it, but she WORKS nebula was GREAT.  despite how annoyed i was at the treatment of women majorly in this movie, the scenes of ALL the women helping carol get through the army? AMAZING. i had chills and i’m pretty sure i said “im glad im a lesbian” because let me tell you, they are amazing and i love them
THE STONY/STEVETONY/SUPERHUSBANDS the steve and tony moments were PERFECT. their fight at the beginning, with too-thin tony and a devastated steve felt perfect and real. i don’t think i will ever recover from tony thrusting the arc reactor into steve’s hands, or him calling steve a liar, or steve’s own disbelief and sadness about what’s happened to them.
i love their meeting when tony decides to help out, and the returning of the shield, and their interactions.
the fact that they get the same mission, and then have their little you trust me, i do moment and going undercover together in the 70s and lksjha.
THE ASS COMMENT are we worthy NOPE
i forever maintain that the ending should have been steve retiring and be like “nah” and instead, sticking around to be uncle steve to morgan, because i honestly believe that without peggy and natasha and tony? there’s not a whole lot left for him. but.
NOW BUCKY BARNES. i just... we didnt get a lot obvs, but what we did get was PERFECT. i loved that he KNEW steve wasn’t coming back, i love that he said goodbye in the only way the two of them COULD say goodbye, and i will forever love that moment between him and sam with bucky’s like whatever, of course you’re captain america, duh
(on that note, i had Feelings about sam consoling bucky at tony’s wedding? why does he need consoling? i have QUESTIONS and i’m probably gonna have to write out my feelings considering my winteriron feelings are growing.)
so in the end, i loved it as a whole, got my ship content, and the fight scenes were phenomenal.
but i lost natasha and my found family.
i lost tony stark, which is a much harder pill to swallow.

Hi! I am really curious about what's going on in the comics, I love Marvel and Stony but I've never read any comics. I want to start reading them all but I don't know where should I start. What issues would you recommend me to read first?
hi Anon :D
so firstly, @salmastryon made an ‘MCU fan’s intro to comics’ series of posts a few years ago, here on livejournal.
it doesn’t have newer stuff, obviously, but that’s kind of the problem–the more you wait, the more there is to read, all the backstories and stuff. and sure series get renewed back to #1 all the time, but still, i’m guessing you want to know the characters history to have maximum feels with the current events :D
For Tony, I think I’d rec Extremis (it’s just 6 issues and I love it). Aaaand I just kept on reading straight into Civil War from there, but that might not be for everyone :P
For Avengers and happy stevetony, starting with New Avengers vol 1. #1 and going on until CW hits is also a good plan. (Again, or just going on with CW and rolling with pain! worked for me!)
And I think that at some point everyone has to read Civil War, the full seven issues, plus the Iron Man tie-ins (vol 4, 13-14) plus Casualties of War plus obviously The Confession. I could go on listing all the comics where Tony cries over Steve, but it’d get long :P
If you want to start after CW, hmm.
Avengers Prime is the canon post-CW make-up series (just 5 issues). It’s a nice adventure and has hugs. After that there’s Avengers vol. 4, and at the beginning Steve’s not on the team, but he still interacts with Tony. It’s my favourite Avengers run, I think.
(Do not read post-CW Iron Man comics, just don’t, trust me, do not.)
And if you want to start even later … See, the thing is I love hickmanvengers (Avengers vol 5 & New Avengers vol 3), but I really don’t think it’s a good starting place. Also lol don’t get me started on the ending of that series. Plus, Iron Man solo comics still suck at that point.
I think the All-New Marvel is an okay place to start, for Tony at least; Invincible Iron Man and International Iron Man both by Bendis were one of the best Tony comics ever, for me (I’m sad they finished prematurely :Civil War II hit (unless I’m missing something glaring right now).
Really, I think the best way is to start with the first New Avengers and go from there. It’s a lot of reading, but it doesn’t take that much time, and you get a lot of nice, fluffy moments, and terrible heart-breaking angst that way.
From non-stevetony side of comics, I really really rec Ms. Marvel with Kamala Khan (I think the first issue is from 2014, it’s a bit confusing to rec because before that we had Ms. Marvel comics with Carol), and the first vol of Kelly Sue’s run of Captain Marvel (2012) (where Carol was Captain Marvel^^). The current Doctor Strange series seems great, but I’m reading that on Unlimited and I’m not really up to date (they have a 6 months delay). Obviously I’d rec Infamous Iron Man to everyone, but I’m not sure that’s what you’re looking for right now? (But Doom trying to be good and magic and suits and great art.)
