Doctor Who Femslash February, Day 1 Prompt- Alternate Universe @doctorwho-femslashfeb
In another universe River Song and Rose Tyler met in the Library, and in every other universe it doesn't end well.
....
"We got breathers! Helmets off," the words were distinctly feminine and familiar in a way that Rose couldn't place. That happened sometimes, her future bleeding into her present. It'd been happening since after... after he regenerated.
It had taken her months of pleading, begging to get him to tell her what happened at Satellite Five. That she had absorbed the Time Vortex and become a Goddess but that there wasn't any need to worry, really, he'd taken it all out of her.
(If he did then why was she getting whispers of the future? Why could she see timelines swirling around in a golden mess everywhere she looked? Why was her future bleeding into her present if he took it all? Why could she hear the TARDIS clearly, understanding her better then the Doctor could?)
She had smiled, and thanked him for telling her. Didn't dare to let any of the thoughts in her head slip out into the world. Maybe she should've, maybe he would still be here if she had. Even just a simple sentence...
Shaking her head she focused back in on what was happening in front of her, the other people who had arrived had taken their helmets off. The one in front of her, the one who'd spoken first sent sparks down her spine a name whispered in her mind, River.
"Who are you?" Rose let the words slip past her lips easily, "You shouldn't be here, you need to leave." she let rage seep into her voice, faux anger at these people being here. (It was easy, to let anger slip into her voice. She just had to be careful so it wouldn't consume her)
And then things were happening and she couldn't quite recall all the details, she could remember River looking at her with devastation in her eyes- River whispering her true name in her ears. "Rose". not Bad Wolf not The Valiant Child, but Rose.
The rest passed in a blur, people died (Miss Evangelista, Proper Dave, Other Dave, Anita). Then she was in the control area with River and River looked at her with an apologetic smile, making her promise not to change a moment of her past and Rose's future. But she knew herself, and so as she left and heard the sounds of a TARDIS materializing she didn't turn around to acknowledge it.
She was certain her future self had it all figured out.
...
...
...
FIVE CENTURIES LATER
Bad Wolf walked around the TARDIS console, flipping switches, pulling levers, pushing buttons. Her eyes flickered over to what she had prepared and silently hoped that this would work as she flipped the last switch.
...
She stepped back eyes searching and hoping that this would work, and as River opened her eyes Bad Wolf cried joyfully. It had worked... her gamble had paid off.
Pulling her wife into her arms she tilted her head back and pulled her down for a kiss. She could feel River smile against her lips and she hummed in contentment.
The TARDIS doors opened behind them and they tumbled in, happy to be reunited.

Title: Bodyguard Moment Fandom: Transformers IDW2 Ship: Road Rage/Nautica, Crosscut/Nautica, others/Nautica (all one-sided) Word Count: 1500 Rating: PG Summary: Pre-series. Road Rage wakes up in a medical bay after saving Nautica but what is she forgetting... A/N: For Femslash February and for the @fembot-prompts prompt “Yours is a body I'd like to guard.”
.
Road Rage came sluggishly online, processor seeming to creep closer to redline the closer she crept to consciousness. She activated her audial suite first and found herself relaxing at the reassuring sound of a medical bay. Next came motor control and her body eased as her mind had-- which brought her nervecircuits screaming awake in response to new wires and fresh welds being pulled in ways they shouldn't so suddenly be. Her optics flickered on and her processor really did feel ready to overheat as she tried to interpret all of the input at once, at the same time as she tried to process the alerts popping up on her HUD and to realign her frame too. When she was finally able to make sense of what she was seeing, she recognized Crosscut peering down at her, exasperated but not unkind.
"Do I not pay you enough?" asked Crosscut.
"You're asking me that now?" Road Rage grunted and grit her dentae at the grinding noises that accompanied her attempt to sit up.
Crosscut put a staying hand on her shoulder. Then, sounding far more amused than seemed appropriate in the moment, at least in Road Rage's opinion, he said, "I don't see how you can blame me for that when you're the one who ran off looking for new job opportunities in the middle of a fire fight."
Road Rage squinted at him and kept squinting at him while he did her the courtesy of adjusting the medical slab so she wasn't flat on her back. Her processor hadn't actually redlined, had it? She'd have gotten an alert first, probably, and she was awake and aware enough to have recognized one…
"What are you talking about?" she asked, half her attention on him and half on acknowledging and dismissing the slew of popups still blinking for attention on her HUD. Some of her short-term memory was corrupted and she winced as her processor warmed yet again at her attempts to sift through what remained. "When the summit was attacked-- yes, when the summit was attacked, I did my bodyguard thing and got you to safety. I was right behind you. Then…"
Then what? With another grunt, Road Rage poked more insistently at her memory banks. Crosscut was saying something, probably telling her to take it easy, but a new fragment of a memory file finally came up clear. It was a sudden, striking fear and she had to flex one hand, feel the pull of fresh welds, to remind herself that whatever had caused the feeling was done and over with. Then her overtaxed processor recovered another piece of the same memory-- the cause of the fear. Road Rage almost didn't realize what it was, it was in such a tangle with the feeling itself.
It was a scream.
She was doubled over before she realized she'd tried to move, before she'd even realized where she knew that voice from. Crosscut was speaking again, rapid and insistent, but he was drowned out this time by a flood of feedback she only slowly realized was coming out of her. Warnings flashed, so many and so insistent, that she couldn't make sense of her visual input past them. There was a second set of hands on her, unfamiliar, and she would've fought back if she could've remembered how. This was no time to be still. She had to get to-- to--
"Oh, thank goodness," she could hear Crosscut saying. "Just-- talk to her, would you? Tell her you're alright. Let her hear your voice."
"She wasn't supposed to be trying to recover short-term memory yet," said an unfamiliar voice to match the unfamiliar hands.
"Um," said a third voice, one that dismissed a solid third of the warnings and let Road Rage start to relax again. "Hello again, Road Rage. I'm okay, we're okay. We're in medical now. Here--"
Another hand, more familiar than Road Rage thought it should be, wrapped around one of her own and squeezed. The rest of the warnings were dismissed one by one from her HUD and this time it was Nautica's uncertain smile she found waiting for her.
"Hi," said Nautica. Her antenna was twitching with her nerves but she followed when Road Rage was eased back against the slab and then still when the attending medic readjusted it so that she was lying down flat again. Her fingers twitched, too, against Road Rage's, like she wanted to offer comfort but wasn't sure. "Are you alright now?"
"Are you? Really?" asked Road Rage. She cast a critical look over Nautica and didn't see any damage but an impression left on her spark, the ghost of a corrupted memory, made her doubt it. "We were… I…"
She pressed her free hand to her forehead as her processor protested. The medic, not someone she recognized right away, said, "Stop before you burn out your entire brain module. You need to give your processor a chance to do its own maintenance before you go picking at traumatizing memories."
"You did take a lot of damage," said Nautica. Her fingers twitched again, this time in small circles, and her optics took on a pale cast. "I'm pretty sure you took all of it, actually. Thanks for that, by the way." She quirked another smile, more certain but still awkward. "It looks good on your resume, if that helps."
Road Rage had barely begun trying to process that when the medic scolded, "Stop that."
Nautica squeezed her hand and pulled away, leaving Road Rage feeling cold. She shuffled a moment in place, then said, "Well! I'll let you rest up and recover what you can. Thank you again, for what you did for me. If--" she shot a glance at the medic, "I don't want to stress you out too much with reminders but you'll know what I mean when, if, it comes back to you. If you really meant it, consider the position yours." She cut a look at Crosscut this time. "I guess you'll need to discuss--" the medic synthesized a cough-- "right. Well. I'm glad you're alright."
She scurried out looking like she was on the last bar of her social battery. The medic, after a curt instruction to rest, went out after her. Road Rage, lost, looked over at Crosscut. She opened her mouth to ask for even a hint as to what was going on but cut herself off with a hiss as another memory file fragment, this one fuzzy with corruption, played out in her processor.
A cramped, closed space, a chorus of explosions right outside the door. A puddle of energon growing beneath her, sparking wires that really should've been inside her helm and her chassis and the right arm that was missing. A gun clutched tight in her other hand, override after override keeping her conscious.
Nautica's terrified face. Nautica's lips moving but all Road Rage could hear was static-- until one little snippet got through, or maybe that was all that was left in Road Rage's memory banks.
"-- Road Rage, right? Crosscut's bodyguard?"
Of all the memories that could've escaped corruption was the memory of what Road Rage had said in return. In her mind's eye, Nautica's face came into stark focus. Then came the words, rough with static but still, somehow, so very clear, "Yours is a body I'd like to guard."
Road Rage blinked back to the present with her fans running on a high setting and her poor processor still struggling on the edge of overheating.
"Came back to you, did it?" Crosscut asked.
She turned to look at him, engine letting out a sputter and then a long whine. She wished what he'd said earlier-- what Nautica had said earlier-- didn't make so much sense when she factored in the possibility that Nautica had told him about that conversation-- or at least how Nautica had interpreted it. Any hope she might have had, though, that he didn't know or at least didn't understand what she had meant in the moment was vanquished by the look he was giving her.
Part amusement, part pity, all understanding.
They were silent for a long moment. Road Rage's sincere desire to fall suddenly, tragically offline did not come to pass, which seemed more unfair the more she thought about how touchy her condition obviously was.
"Well," said Crosscut, "I don't imagine it will be too much trouble to have you transferred, if that's what you really want."
A moment passed before Road Rage realized the way his optical ridges rose was because she was nodding. He huffed another laugh at her, still not unkind. Then he patted her on the shoulder and repeated the medic's instruction to rest.
"I'll get it taken care of," he assured her on his way out. He paused at the door and gave her that same understanding look over his shoulder. "For what it's worth-- I wish you better luck than the rest of us have had."

POV: You made the new intern cry and are about to get mauled by two over protective mermaids.
Tumblr media
I was convinced to participate in femslash Feburary, by which I mean someone brought it up and I decided I could absolutely do a crossover lesbian ship where yachi gets two girlfriends who can and will throw hands in defense of her.
No regrets frankly.
Credits to my sister for the pose, I had no idea what I was doing and she managed to create a pose reference for me to use.
With any luck we'll get a fic to go along with this artwork, but it's still firmly in the planning stage, so there are no promises. Until then, you'll simply have to survive with this.

Title: Ready or Not Fandom: Transformers IDW2 Ship: Arcee/Greenlight Word Count: 1000 Rating: PG Summary: Missing scene. Arcee and Greenlight prepare themselves to meet their new ward. A/N: For Femslash February and for the femslash100100 prompt “ready”! I'm finally allowed to post my piece for Femme Metale-- which I'll be doing shortly-- and it put me in a mood for more Arceenlight+Gauge :D Granted, Gauge is barely in this but still!
.
All of Cybertron seemed to be speaking at once, white noise dancing like static over Arcee's last functioning nerve. Her hands twitched for a weapon-- a blade, a blaster, anything at all that she could use. But, of course, no weapon would serve her here, now.
Her hands twitched again in spite of the thought and Greenlight caught one of them in one of her own, a better fit than any weapon ever had been. Maybe, Arcee thought, this was what she had been twitching for after all. She returned the grip and turned to find Greenlight smiling at her. Arcee felt herself relax but couldn't dredge up a smile of her own.
"It's alright to be nervous," Greenlight said, the murmur somehow cutting through the incessant background noise of the crowd. Her smile faltered and Arcee could see the flicker of a shadow beyond the love shining in the light of her optics. She hadn't known Brainstorm well but she had known him and the shock of his death-- his murder-- ran deep regardless. "Especially now."
"There was supposed to be more time," Arcee said, the words heavy with the topic she was speaking around. "I didn't expect--"
"Who did?" Greenlight's grip grew tighter, her face haunted. "Who could have?" She shook it off a moment later, leaning to press her forehead to Arcee's and reaching for Acree's other hand. If Arcee had been any less familiar with Greenlight's touch, she didn't think she'd have noticed the tremble. "But we're here now, one way or another. And soon," she tipped her head, and Arcee's with her, towards the platform at the base of the Pyramid, "she'll be here too." In a passable imitation of Proxima, she added, "'It always seems too soon until you've met them-- that's when you realize you couldn't have known them soon enough.'"
Arcee managed a dry huff of a laugh. "I've read the book, Greenlight." She shifted their grip so that she could hide her own tremors between Greenlight's fingers. "Which means I also read the part that says no plan survives first contact with the-- with your new ward." She nuzzled Greenlight and drew back to look at the stage. Orion Pax had raised his hands for attention so that he could begin his speech. It wouldn't be long now for their cue. "I don't understand how you're so calm."
She looked back in time to see Greenlight startle, as if nervousness hadn't occurred to her. "Well, I suppose it's because you're the newly assigned mentor here, not me-- I'm just here for moral support."
"What." Another laugh, this one higher than the last, found its way out of Arcee's vocalizer. "Greenlight, you're going to be as much of a mentor as I am."
The light of Greenlight's optics went pale and when she squeezed Arcee's hands again, she didn't seem to be offering comfort so much as asking for it. "I-- I suppose I didn't think about it that way--"
"We talked about this before I even applied."
"Yes, we-- but I just-- it--" Greenlight reset her vocalizer with an audible click and looked towards the still sealed door of the Pyramid with an almost desperate air. "It completely slipped my mind, I think. Like the memory file got buried under the-- all the excitement. You were the one whose application was selected, you were the one who got the call--"
"As if who I had beside me as a co-mentor didn't make any difference to my being accepted," said Arcee. She could feel a smile growing now as her spark danced in her chamber, spreading warmth throughout her frame. Greenlight's expression seemed to dance too; Arcee watched with no small fascination as Greenlight sped through what she suspected was every emotion she herself had felt since she'd been notified of her assignment.
Not for the first time in the last two kilocycles-- or even the last cycle, come to that-- Arcee found herself falling in love with her all over again.
"I'm going to be a mentor," Greenlight said as if in a daze. She turned that desperate look back on Arcee now. "Arcee, I'm about to be a mentor."
Arcee laughed, leaning back in to press their foreheads together again. A thought about the timing tickled her processor but she pushed it away, cast the light of the occasion against the shadow of the reason for it. Her new ward-- their new ward-- deserved a better welcome than that. She said, "We're about to be mentors."
Greenlight's expression smoothed back into a smile of her own, though her trembling was rather more obvious. "Together."
"As always," said Arcee, expression softening. She tugged on their joined hands and then shook them loose so that she could hold Greenlight close with a grip on her shoulders instead.
Hands falling to Arcee's waist, Greenlight nuzzled along Arcee's jaw to her audial and added, "As we were meant to be."
For a moment, they might as well have been the only two living beings on the planet. Then Orion Pax, booming and warm, announced them-- announced Arcee, at any rate, which was as good as announcing them both.
With a parting brush of lips, they separated and Arcee saw all of her own feelings, from her fear to her wonder, reflected in Greenlight's face. They joined hands again, intertwined fingers squeezing tight. Their plating sang as excitement made it shudder in rippling waves against their protoforms.
"That's us," Arcee said, laughing at herself as she did.
Grinning, Greenlight nudged her shoulder against Arcee's, urging her towards the stage. "Then let's go," she said. "Remember what Proxima says--"
"We can't meet her soon enough," said Arcee. She shook herself sharply and strode forward, tugging Greenlight along-- not that she needed to be tugged, really. Not once she saw-- and Arcee knew from her grip the minute she saw-- a lone little figure silhouetted by the light pouring now from the Pyramid doors. "Ready or not."
