Pepa: What are you doing?
Bruno: Teaching your kids the art of psychological warfare.
Pepa:
Antonio: Mamá, what’s “si-koo-sis”?
Camilo, furiously taking notes: It’s “psychosis”, Toñito. How do you spell “dementia” again?
Dolores: D-E-M-E-N-T-I-A.
Pepa, sighing: I need a drink. Just don’t kill anyone.
Isabela: *walks in* Guys, I killed a man.
Bruno: Don’t worry, sweetie, I’ll hide the body.
Camilo: Ah yes, casual murder.

Prompt offer: Isabela going feral
Tumblr media
Well, you could always count on Isa to make things weird.
Yeah, that fact was still strange in itself, but it amused Camilo to no end. Isabela was so much more fun now.
He watched as her little sentient potatoes, armed with tiny versions of gardening tools, engaged in battle with Tio Bruno’s rats. At first he thought they were practicing for another telenovela…but with how hard Isa was cackling, he was starting to doubt it.
“What…?” Bruno paused in the doorway, eyebrows raised.
“I have no idea what’s going on,” Camilo cheerfully admitted.
“Come on!” Isa cheered her potatoes on. “Glory for the potato army!”
“Free entertainment,” Camila said. He leaned against the wall, settling in to watch. “My money’s on the potatoes.”

Leave Me Reckless
Julieta and Agustín realize just how much of an influence their eldest hija has on their youngest.
Isabela calls it bravery. Julieta and Agustín call it terrifying
Isabela's daredevil tendencies started at a pretty young age. But it was when her parents realized just how much of an influence she had on her youngest sister, little Mirabel, that it became a cause for concern.
Julieta and Agustín Madrigal had three daughter's. And out of the three, there was only one who was docile and timid. Their lovely middle child, Luisa. Always willing to help, never getting herself into mischief. Unlike Isabela and Mirabel, the first being all spunk and sass, she always had to be the first for, well, everything. Isabela was a kind of rebellious daredevil type. She often weighed the pros and cons of consequences before putting her plans into effect.
But Mirabel, oh Mirabel, she was a case they absolutely weren't expecting. As kind, if not kinder than her older sister Luisa, Mirabel was a sweet child, always willing to help at any chance she could. The little girl would give an arm and a leg if it meant someone else was happy.
But she also had a terrifyingly reckless daredevil streak in her. While Isabela often weighed the consequences of her actions in her head before she saw them through, Mirabel was a "jump headfirst, look later (or never)" kind of daredevil. She was afraid of absolutely nothing. It was terrifying.
She'd been banned from Bruno's room after terrifying him on the edge of the cliff in his tower. She was three years old, peering over the edge, looking down into a pitch-black, empty, void, when she toppled over the cliff. Bruno, terrified, caught her tiny hand just in time, and pulled her up.
He was shocked to see the toddler giggling with delight. "Again! Again! Do it again!"
Bruno sat there, mouth agape, panting, before scooping the girl up and marching her down the stairs to his tower, to the kitchen, where he was sure her parents would be.
Mirabel pouted.
"Aw, man."

one of these days I’m going to snap and make that “how encanto uses color symbolism” post into a video essay but I have a feeling it’s mostly going to be me being too feral to function for like 20 minutes so is it really worth it

I highkey wanna know how the fight between Isabela and Katja went down.
It's not exaaaaaaaactly what you asked for but I couldn't stop writing, it turned into a whole One-shot so enjoy some feral (and guilt ridden as hell) Isabela.
Read it on AO3
Or under the cut!
Isabela lifts her hand so she can stare at her knuckles.
The red looks weird on her skin. It feels weird, too. Is blood supposed to be this cold? Isn’t it meant to be warm and sticky? It feels more like paint, reminds her of afternoons spent doing arts and crafts with Antonio and Tio Bruno. She expects to see some glitter in the red, some wayward scraps of paper, glue threatening to stick her fingers together.
But it’s not paint. It’s blood.
And it’s not her own either. Maybe that’s why it’s cold.
White noise has filled her ears ever since that one fateful sentence. The one that made her lose control, made her pull her arm back and spring it forward again with deadly precision. She didn’t hear the crunch of a nose breaking or the thump of a body hitting the ground or the high pitched scream of her victim. She only heard that horrible sentence on repeat, faster and faster, until it turned into static.
Even now, that static rises and falls, fluctuating with Katja’s screams.
Dios, that girl got lungs.
“Shut up.” Isabela says without any force, her voice toneless and disinterested. Completely void of emotion. All her fury, all her fear, all her guilt has gone into that punch. She is empty now. “It’s not that bad.”
“You broke my nose!”
Isabela keeps staring at her knuckles which are starting to hurt a little. She bends her fingers and turns her hand. She doesn’t think she’s ever had blood on her skin. Not her own. Not anyone else’s. It feels so weird.
Katja is still screeching and Isabela is starting to get a headache.
“Shut up!”, she repeats. Emotions fill her again. Finally. Feeling empty feels worse than the blood on her knuckles. “Shut up and get up! You shouldn't have said those things about Mirabel! You deserve this!”
Youdeservethisyoudeservethisyoudeservethis
Katja stumbles to her feet. The blood is flowing freely and her nose, once small and petite, looks grotesque. Isabela can see it turning blue beneath Katja's hand. “As if you haven’t talked just like me a few months ago! Don’t be all high and mighty now, Isabela Madrigal! You are no different!”
I deserve this.
Isabela clenches her fist and it feels so good when Katja takes a step back, when fear flashes through her eyes.
She feels so good.
She feels so empty.
Isabela doesn't know what she is supposed to do now. It's a weird limbo she finds herself caught in. The fight feels like it is over before it has even begun but Katja is still glaring at her, is still not backing down. Should she swing again? Should she walk away? Surely walking off is the only sensible choice here, but at the same time Isabela's blood keeps boiling beneath her skin. Her fingers tingle, her knuckles even more so.
Before Isabela can do something she'll regret even more, Luisa appears by her side. Somehow Isabela just knows that Dolores sent her. She expects to feel irritation at the unwanted surveillance but all that fills her is relief. Just Luisa's presence calms her down.
Luisa takes one look at Katja's nose and at Isabela's hand and quickly begins to steer her big sister away. “That’s enough, you two. Let’s go, Isa.”
“Hey! I demand an apology!”
Luisa stops and turns back to Katja. She tilts her head a little. “I am sorry for what happened here.”
Isabela grinds her teeth. Luisa has no business sounding so defeated. She has no business sounding so empty. That’s Isabela’s cross to bear.
She opens her mouth, but Luisa squeezes her shoulder.
Stay quiet. Stay out of it. You’ve done enough.
Isabela stays silent.
“Not from you! From her! No matter, I will go to Senora Madrigal with this! She needs to be punished.”
A stone settles in Isabela’s stomach. No matter how much things have changed, she will never not dread disappointing her Abuela. The thought of the woman looking at her with that pinched expression, a slight shake of her head as she tells Isabela 'I expected better of you' is enough to send ice through her veins.
Boiling blood no more.
Luisa stares at the other girl with an unreadable expression. After what feels like an eternity she reaches into her pocket and pulls out one of Mama’s cookies. She throws it at Katja with a carelessness that is very unlike her. The other girl is barely able to catch it in time. “If you do that, I will have to tell Abulea about the scratch on Isa’s cheek.” There is a scratch on her cheek? Isablea resists the urge to reach up and feel her skin. Everything feels very far away right now. “And I will have to tell my Mama what you said about Mirabel which might mean that this," she nods to the cookie in Katja's hand "is the last healing food you can expect for the foreseeable future.” Luisa straightens up so she towers over Katja  and stares her straight in the eyes. “I’m sure none of that is necessary.”
Katja doesn’t say anything, but Isabela can see the defeat in her eyes. No one messes with the Madrigals. Luisa must see it too because she nods once and pulls Isa away towards home.
Isabela looks up at Luisa’s face, to thank her, to tell her that she could have managed on her own, she is not sure. But the look on Luisa’s face stops her in her tracks.
Her little sister looks frightened and heartbroken. She looks close to tears.
Luisa has always hated using her height to intimidate people, has always made it a point to appear as non threatening as possible.
By using her status as a Madrigal and her considerable height to keep Katja from running to Abuela she has gone against everything she stands for.
And it’s all Isabela’s fault.
She squeezes her bloody hand and tries to remind herself that she had no choice. Katja deserved this.
She deserved this!
You deserve this.

Luisa: Fitness tip: never stop pushing yourself. Some say 8 hours of sleep is enough. Why not keep going? Why not 9? Why not 10? Strive for greatness.
Isabela: Next time you’re working out do 15 push ups instead of 10. Run 3 miles instead of 2. Eat a whole cake instead of just a slice. Burn your ex’s house down. You can do it. I believe in you.
Mirabel: There were so many mixed messages in that I can’t-

I know this movie is recent-ish, but the lack of an Encanto series is still crazy to me.
Like, it doesn't even need crazy magical lore, it can be episodic, it's so simple:
Family dynamics not seen in the movie
Why doesn't Mirabel have a gift (theory of her being the next matriarch being the most obvious one)
Seeing the other rooms
Bruno's new interactions with the townspeople and the family
FERAL ISABELA!!!
Dolores and Mariano
Unexplored trauma with Dolores and Camilo, GET THEM THEIR SOLO SONGS!!!!
The dads' sides of the family
Abuela Alma trying to do better
Childhoods of the triplets
On that same note, how the couples met each other.
More on Alma and Pedro. Etc
And if you wanted new stuff, HAVE THEM OPEN THE ENCANTO TO LET MORE PEOPLE IN, new technology that Encanto doesn't have access to, new ideas and cultures - it can even bring drama if the new people try to do bad things and the family goes all x-men on them.
It's so many possibilities that if they never do it it's a damn shame.

Bruno: I killed a man with this thumb.
Alma:
Camilo: Ah yes, just another Tuesday.

If you’re still feeling the Isa feels, maybe her and Bruno bonding over being the former golden children ?
I always have Isa feels 😁
Tumblr media
"It suits you," Tio Bruno said and Isa looked up from her garden in surprise.
"What does?" she asked.
Bruno gestured to the wild, rambling garden; the strange flowers, the creeping vines and ivy, the cacti and various trees, even the shrubs she'd trimmed herself, turning them into the shape of animals and people.
"This," he said with a smile. "Being yourself."
Isabela grinned at him. With a wave of her hand, a patch of bright orange lilies grew, and Bruno's smile widened.
At long last, Isabela was unapologetically herself. But, sometimes, the guilt was there; the nagging sense that she was doing something wrong, that Abuela would be so unhappy, so angry, so disappointed...
"Tio Bruno?"
"Hm?"
"When did you stop worrying about what Abuela thought so much?" Isa asked. "People used to...To treat you like me, sort of. That's what Mamá said; when you were little, people were amazed with your Gift, they expected you to be perfect. Only..."
"Only I wasn't," Bruno said with a small, sad smile. He shrugged and brushed his hair out of his eyes. She saw a rat poke its nose out of his pocket and smiled to herself.
"I'll never really stop worrying about what she thinks," Bruno admitted. "She's my mother, of course I want her to be proud of me. But if she's proud of a lie, what's the good in that? If it's not really me then..." He looked at her, more relaxed now. "Then I don't want that. Not anymore."
"I don't either," Isabela said. She looked at her wonderfully chaotic, colourful garden with pride. "I just want to be myself from now on."
"Give them hell, kid," Bruno said, clapping her on the back. "Show them all exactly what you can do."
She would. Isabela promised herself that, every day for the rest of her life, she would show the world what she could do.

the fact that isabela and zevran serve the same character function in a few key ways but diverge wildly, all the while zevran being a large part in isabelas backstory- it all makes me go feral
sex for zevran is a tool. or rather, he was a tool, and sex was one of the things he was used to do (as a precursor to murder lmao). but its not just romance/sex he sees himself as unworthy of- its any non transactional relationship. when you finally show him not everyone is looking to bargain with him as a chip, when you CARE about him, he jumps at the chance. hes your ride or die before you can blink. he has the freedom to devote himself to a friendship/partner and he's going to take it.
for isabela, sex IS that freedom. zevran literally and figuratively killed her old life, and now she owns her body, and is going to have all the fun she damn well pleases with it. relationships arent something she was necessarily denied, but she never really saw any good examples of them. why should she burden herself with that? shes down to be your friend from day one, but what she realizes is maybe... her freedom isnt all down the toilet if shes loyal to you. maybe she can have freedom and loyalty and enjoy both.
tldr: sex and jokes are what zevran uses to cope with his lack of freedom, and sex and jokes are how isabela maintains hers

Controversial Character Tournament Round 2: Kromer from Limbus Company vs Anders from Dragon Age 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(remember that these characters are fictional and your fellow tumblr users are real. please be normal in the notes, i will not hesitate to block if you harass people)
Propaganda under the cut:
Kromer:
HATE: - "Nasty, scrungly, murders people for having advanced prosthetics, but yet the fandom still loves her, I will never understand that"
Anders:
LOVE: - "So Anders blew up a chantry as a symbol of mage rights. He's wild. Completely feral. I love him so much. He's canonically Bipolar (like me) but it's written in the worst possible way. He is possessed by a demon, technically. He's so unhinged. So many people hate him. He is technically a terrorist. The later game literally changed it so even if you agreed with him, no you didn't" - "hes SOOOOOO." - "He has a controversy page on wikipedia (It is not about that time he blew up a church). He likes cats. He gives poor people free magic healthcare. There is so much discourse about him all the time. His writer hated him. He escaped a cult. He's canon bipolar AND bisexual. He's possessed by a spirit of Justice (who rocks so hard.) He hates the Catholic Church. He lives in a sewer. He's really mean and petty. He was put in solitary for a solid year. He's one of two openly queer (i.e. mentioning it outside player romance) companions (the other being Isabela Dragonage) in his main game. Anders isn't even his birthname, it's a nickname given because he didn't speak for months when he got taken to the Catholic cult prison at 12. He drank long-lasting poison to fight an evil corrupting force because he wanted to not be murdered or have all his emotions lobotomied from him by the Catholic church prison guards (This is almost completely unrelated to the possession.)" - "Anders! He's a medic for those too poor to afford healthcare! He loves cats! He has a cat named Ser Pounce-a-Lot because he's a perfect man. Anders absolutely says ACAB, except in DA2 it's ATAB: All Templars Are Bastards. He's canonically bi! He runs an underground railroad-type deal for mages to escape from abusive institutions! He blew up the in-universe Catholic church for opressing his people (mages)! Some say this makes him a terrorist. I say this makes him a babe ❤️❤️❤️ He is unreasonably mean to Fenris, but imo that's just Bad Writing we can handwave away ok? ok. cool." - "there is a controversy section on his wiki page bc his bisexual ass made the straight male gamers angry by flirting with their characters. ppl in the fandom have also been arguing nonstop for 12 years abt his actions at the end of da2. do u want to go to anders discourse? too bad we're going to anders discourse."
BOTH: - "I really liked Anders in Dragon Age Awakening, I thought he was fun and funny, but he's insufferable in da2 and his fans and apologists are so annoying. He's a terrible person in that game and they have to make stuff up and ignore all the awful stuff he says and does. He's so awful I always kill him at the end of the game because I hate what he became."

Isabela: So, you heard anything interesting lately? Any news? Gossip?
Dolores: Something tells me Luisa is going to be a bit unhinged today…
Isabela: What do you mean?
Luisa, holding a lit match and a bag of coffee beans: Leave me be, Mirabel isn't home to stop me, I'm going feral.
