Thanks to @quinnsteria we have some Dino Squad concepts! And the character notes are gold (transcriptions below)
Max/T-Rex: good instincts, charm, class president, BMOC; risk-taker, hot-dogger, jock, easy smile and laid-back demeanor, serous de facto leader. Tom Cruise's "Maverick”, big ego, feels like he's leading the Marx Brothers onto the beaches of Normandy. He was winning in life and lost this so he's now a bit bitter
Fiona/Spinosaurus: Billy Murray + "Old" Rosie O'Donnell, speed freak. easy going, fast driving, tomboy-athlete, quick wit, need for speed. When not burning rubber she's “kicking it” with the guys.
Caruso/Stegosaurus: wants to be cool at any price, changes personality at will, bit funny, bit like Scooby, empty headed ego. Thinks he's better than others, ultimate wannabe, incredibly vain and self-centered, attention span of a gnat. Every new passion is his ticket to mega-stardom. A teen version of Ben Stiller's Zoolander, "I'm too sexy for my shirt”.
Buzz/Pteranodon: false hero, scared, bitchy funny, bit like Shaggy, tough-talking loudmouth, all show no guts. Wants to be a tough hero, but afraid of own shadow. The bigger they are, the harder they fear! Joe Pesci as the Cowardly Lion, turned Cowardly Dino.
Rodger/Styracosaurus: Chris Rock + MacGiver, under appreciated, gets no respect, makes cool multi-tools... “and it also makes great cappuccino!” Why? Because it can! wise-cracking, limitless technical skills, drives others crazy with an endless practical jokes.
ID: a drawing of fiona from “dino squad,” from the chest up. she is facing to the right but looking left, and has freckles and a band-aid across her nose. to her upper right is a small cartoon version of her as a spinosaurus. the spinosaurus version of her also has freckles and a band-aid on her snout. nuts, bolts, a wrench, and a bunny are drawn around her, and in the top right corner “FIONA” is written in large letters and underlined. the background is a torn-out sheet of notebook paper. end ID.
This spunky young lady can transform into a Spinosaurus aegyptiacus. This species of dinosaur where semi aquatic in nature and could swim very well in water, however she cannot traverse well on land
This was copied from the submission/judging rules (that's why the numbers are bad)
0. Standard tournament rules: be polite, et cetera.
1. Inconsistent characterization must be present past the first part- no Early Installment Weirdness.
4. Liberty is reserved to add more rules
5. Inconsistency must be in canon, not fandom misinterpreting. That's a separate thing.
6. Character development is not inconsistency.
7. Do not do a Squimbus v. Pikachu; don't vote for one character that doesn't really fit it over a character you don't know.
Match links below the cut. The winner of Quat A will face off against Quat B; same for C and D. The winner of Oct 1 will face off against Oct 2 for that Quat.
[ID: four traditional fanarts of dinosquad. the first is a marker drawing redesign of victor veloci, a red velociraptor covered in stripes with a yellow underbelly. his wings and tail feathers have a laced pattern. he grins menacingly, with the subtitle “those PUHFECT dinosaurs!”. the second is a marker drawing redesign of joanne moynihan, a headshot of a green velociraptor with purple stripes, a purple feather crest, and a white underbelly. she also has halfmoon glasses. the third is a page of sketches: buzz in pteranodon form, a headshot and full-body of fiona in spinosaurus form, and a mostly full-body drawing of caruso in stegosaurus form, who is saying “i’m literally irredeemable!”. all of these are redesigns to make the show’s designs a bit more in-line with modern understanding of how these animals actually looked, but they are still cartoony. the fourth is a shoulders-up sketch of buzz as a human, smiling and holding hsi pet boa, winnifred. end ID.]
dinosquad is the worst show i have ever had the displeasure of seeing. 10/10, i wish caruso were dead
guys i think fiona is the dad of the group and shes most definetly the “come hold this light” but its actually 10 hours of financially uncompensated verbal abuse. However, your engine is twin turbo now.
Ready to beat dino bad guys and fix your car, and she's all out of cars to fix! Fiona is cool, she can drive and likes to go fast. Her dino-sona is a Spinosaurus.
Honestly she's the only cool one. I mean, Caruso and Buzz are great, but cool? Nah. Fiona is cool.
Happy Friday friend!! For the ask meme, would you mind sharing a bit about your process for creating/developing a new OC? :)
:)
Disclaimer: I haven’t created a new OC in a very long time, despite Rosie only coming to the forefront recently. She was the OG character I created for F3, I just never shared anything about her because I was so involved with DA fandom instead. HA. I think the last OC I developed from scratch was Fiona, my Nord Dragonborn, even though she was also the same OC I had been playing since Skyrim originally came out in 2011.
My OCs are usually first conceived either when I first play the game, or the lead up to when a game is released. I’ll pick out a name that fits with the theme/setting and overall mood (and one that I like), and start imagining what that person would be like in that universe. Recently, I restarted Fallout: New Vegas, and decided to create a new Courier to play around with. I chose Daisy as a name mostly because I wanted a flower name to contrast with the desert and because I like daisies. Simple enough.
I figure out a backstory, even if I don’t use it right away. For Daisy, I’ve thought about her growing up in Flagstaff, Arizona and escaping the Legion as a young child and eventually ending up in the Mojave. She doesn’t remember a lot of her youth, thanks to a mix of memory loss and purposeful suppression.
I give my OCs some quirks/personality traits. Daisy is lucky, weirdly so. She has an actual case of wild wasteland in the sense that she sees weird stuff that nobody else does. Not like ghosts or supernatural entities, but just...stuff. She can’t explain it. Doesn’t try to, because nobody believes her. She can also understand ED-E.
Mostly my OC development happens very fast and all at once. And then the little details of their personalities come in later as I start to write them (if I ever do, poor Daisy) in fics.
