Yk what I've come 2 the fact that I might not get the perfect grades in every subject. Like I'm struggling so hard in science and I hate it cuz I used 2 be so good at it + I used 2 love it . But hey as long as I pass in it it'll be fine right? I'm pretty good at other subjects too so I don't think I need 2 be worrying this much about my gcse mock exams. Like Im doing good in maths, English literature + language, business studies and drama. The only subjects I'm nervous about is science n geography, let's put science apart for a second n talk abt geo. Not being great at geography sucks cuz my geo teacher believes that I'll get a really good grade and would be super disappointed if I didn't, but I don't care abt that anymore. I probably won't even see him ever again in like a few years why should I care abt his validation. I probably won't even be doing geography for my A-levels I don't even like it that much! And i think I'm pretty decent at it, just not very good yk? So idc anymore I think I'm just gonna stop pressuring myself n feeling like shit when I don't get the perfect grades cuz literally I'm still only at year 10 it doesn't matter much rn it won't be the real gcses.
On a side note I don't know what I'll do for A-levels anymore tho . Since I used 2 plan on taking biology + geography + drama for it, but now I'm shit at biology AND geo . Soo ill prolly have 2 rethink my choices. Or ill choose a completely different direction n not do A-levels, who knows. I'll just go with the flow n stop overthinking everything :]

I'm a Jekyll and Hyde. One needs academic approval while the other CANNOT STOP procrastinating.
I think I did well with my revision today. I'm happy enough with it. And my Geography mock is tomorrow. Can't wait... I also spent probably 40 minutes taking pictures and burning myself with a light bulb just to get 1 picture as an art reference that I may or may not need tomorrow. I do like the picture though.
I'm kind of tired now. But feeling very academic (and academically aesthetic) recently. Will start reading some Chemistry textbooks soon, but in Polish so they'll take 5x the amount of time it usually would to read something like it (plus it's voluntary so I'll see how long I do this for)
Don't know what else, so... BYE

im gonna rank my exams so far now im halfway through for fun
1. English lit 1 (aqa) this is basically for the jekyll and hyde question alone it was absolutely beautiful. R+J question was pretty good as well.
2.English lit 2 another amazing english exam from aqa. I loved the unseen poetry question and the fact we were given 2 theme questions for an inspector calls. Before you were mine was pretty decent as well cause i can compare it to walking away the best poem
3. Combined Physics 1 (aqa trilogy higher) I did no revision at all for the paper and it was still piss easy. Best science paper by far.
4.Drama (edexcel) I found section A to be chill. Nice extract from an inspector calls. The 9 marker in section B was so strange but i figured out a solid answer
5. Maths 1 (edexcel higher) So much easier than most non calculator maths papers im used to. I know I fucked a few questions up but considerably less than i normally do. Also the fire alarm went off during this exam so we had like a weird 13 minute break standing outside. Strange.
6. French reading (aqa higher) This one was nice and pretty much exactly what i was expecting. Maybe its not my highest scoring paper but it was one of the least stressful ones which is why its this high up. Loved the translation at the end as well.
7. Geography 1 (aqa) It went pretty good except for the fact i didnt finish one of the 6 markers. I never finish geography papers though. Also the figure they provided for the question about flood management was awful and the 12 marker about plate boundaries was weird.
8. Combined Chemistry 1 nothing much to say tbh. Went decently but not really well. I dont really have any strong opinions on it.
9. Computer science 1 (OCR) surprisingly chill. No system architecture came up which was weird but nice. I think i did slightly better than i normally do on this paper.
10. Combined biology 1 This is supposed to be my best science but it was just a bit mid tbh. Definitely did not go awfully though just in comparison to my other exams its lacking a bit.
11. French listening I was expecting it to be shit and it was. The dog was the highlight of the paper, it can open doors!!
12. Computer science 2 never again.
Only 11 left omg im so fucking tired. Theyve mostly gone really well though so thats nice.

Writing a humanities essay when you’re a STEM student who hasn’t done anything related to humanities since gcse is very very humbling

imagine a guy who washes all his dishes in saltwater on the beach. i think itd be a little funny
tbh i might become him. dont a lot of people who live in rural desert environments use sand to clean dishes and etc. i think sand and sea water would be a great dishwashing combo

GCSE geography revision: river landforms
(from a grade 9 student)
plunge pool: a plunge pool is formed when water flows over a bend of hard and soft rock. as a result, the softer rock is eroded at a faster rate by hydraulic action. this means that the hard rock becomes an overhang and colapses. as a result of abrasion from the collapsed rock and further hydraulic action, a plunge pool is created.
v shaped valley: the force of the water from the river is directed downwards. the vertical erosion cuts into the river bed. the river cuts a narrow valley with steep v-shaped sides. the flow of the water also swings from side to side, creating some sideways erosion. overtime, this means that the v shaped valley is cut into the hillside.
waterfall and gorges waterfalls occur when the river channel crosses from one rock type to another. if the rate of erosion of each rock type is different, then a waterfall is formed. gorges are when below each waterfall. there is a narrow valley with (almost) vertical sides. retreat creates this, and this happens when the overhang drops into the plunge pool, and attrition & abrasion erodes it for the back until overhang continues dropping and the process continues.
floodplains and meanders rivers water tends to swing from side to side, which causes lateral erosion. this erosion could be hydraulic action, and it causes meanders within the river. A flood plain is a flat area beside a river that gets flooded.

It was my last day at high school today :(
I'm going to miss them all so much, they've been the best friends I could ask for.
we're obviously going to keep in touch and we've already planned to meet up this summer but it's not going to be the same as we'll all be at different schools.
(I'm from the UK so I've still got to sit my GCSEs and then it's A-Levels for the next two years but I going to a different collage for A-Levels)
