It's a crime that Lily Chen and Will Herondale never met, especially bc they were (un)alive during the same period.
They would've simped for Jem so hard.
Imagine all the nicknames they could've come up with together

Got any random Fairchild family headcanons, especially ones pertaining to Matthew and Henry?
Oh, I always have headcanons!
Also, sorry I took so long to answer, I am currently withering away to sawdust.
Matthew was one of those “nicely disobedient kids”. Someone will be like “okay, keep your shoes on okay? It’s important not to take them off in here alright?” and he's like “yeah yeah yeah! I got it!” then tears his pants and shirt away and takes off running.
Both Matthew and Charles were those kids who just hung off their parents 24/7. Actually, all the TID gangs kids are like that. Someone is always carrying at least one child. Henry’s lap is prime real estate. So are Will’s shoulders. What are adults if not your personal chauffeur?
Henry and Matthew actually do have very similar hair, although Matthew’s is straighter. Matthew can’t tell because, you know, he styles it, and Henry absolutely does not.
Matthew’s concern about not looking like his father in GOTSM is distressing because its so unfounded. He looks a lot like both his parents, and frankly he’s the only one who's never noticed.
Christmas is soooo fun there. Mostly because they dont do any of it at their own house, they just go to all the christmas parties they get invited to and watch shit go down. Every shadowhunter party is a madhouse. Matthew and Charles get released into the crowd of children to play, and Henry and Charlotte just kind of sit to the side and watch everything dissolve into chaos. They’ll send Matthew and Charles home with an uncle or aunt, they're staying to watch 24 year old Micheal what's his name from some corner of Britain tries to fight his 64 year old uncle over the rise of livestock taxes in liverpool. Charlotte doesnt feel morally obligated to step until chairs become involved.
Other than the entertianment of christmas chaos, holidays are fun. They come with markets and present shopping. Matthew and Charles get paired off with whatever parent, then their basically free in a christmas market (provided they stay within five feet of said parent.) Matthew goes with Henry and has the time of his life. He comes home with pockets full of peppermint candies choclaty little fingers and a whole lot of happiness. Also, did you know theres fun holiday stuff in the shadowmarket? Whats better than sitting in your dads lap while he chats with a warlock in a demon language like forty people in the world speak, then going back to the cities for a chocolate croissant. Hey, it's safer than you think, Henry's not letting Matthew go anywhere in that market lol.
Of course, there a lots of bedtime stories and songs. Matthew is big on bedtime stories, though he has a few favorites. He's quite keen on Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, and he asks for it at least once a week. That was Henry's favorite as a child, and there are several copies to pick from which may be part of why Matthew likes it so much.
When Matthew gets a little older they move onto more interesting stuff. You know, the normal books for a nine year old; like The Travels of Marco Polo. Matthew is a well educated nine year old.
There's a lot of checkers and chess. Charlotte is decent at chess, and Henry's amazing at it, though Charles Buford and Matthew are more average. Matthew does, however, enjoy the aesthetic, and can play a mean game of checkers.
Tea time is important. World might be burning down but there will be tea on the Fairchild's table.
Matthew and Charles get sent flowers on special occasions. Doesn't really matter if they want flowers, or if they are "far to old for such frivolaty, I have things to do they'll simply die-" (coughcharlesbufordcough), they get them anyway. Henry and Charlotte have had the same ancient florist from Yorkshire doing it for decades, and considering she's been ninety since Henry was about six, and shows no signs of mortality, Charles and Matthew should prepare to have flowers forever.
One good rule for the kids in that house is to a) knock, and b) if that door is locked, do NOT open it. Really a rule all the TID gang kids know. If you decide to open, or try to open, or even hang out near, a locked door (or any thin walls) may the consequences be on your own head. Look, everyone in that group loves their partner very much,
That’s why Charles Buford is so bitter btw. Didn’t know the rule, scarred for life. Pretty much like that vine.

I don't need to reread all the Shadowhunters books. I don't need to reread all the Shadowhunters books. I probably wouldn't enjoy rereading all the Shadowhunters books. I could keep reading the new ones if I want but I am already doing too many projects. I don't need to reread the Shadowhunters books.

İf Minerva was in a magical universe (i meant like not in mundane setting like tlnd and like if she was in lbaf) would she be a warlock? Seelie?
Seelie came to my mind just because i think was it in the ghost of the shadowmarket downworlder kids were playing and the seelie kid was trying to act cool but failed cause he couldn't lie, i could be wrong about it, it's been a long time since i read it
💙💙💙
Just throwing this out there, what if she is a mundane?
Because I like the idea of Max and Magnus being the immortals (canonically and Magnus making peace with it). She could be a shadowhunter sure, but she doesn't give me the vibes. Maybe she is a mundane who has shadowhunter blood (like Mina?) but doesn't chose to be a shadowhunter.

Rank Shadowhunter novels 🫶
All of them?? Gosh, that’s going to be fun!
1. Queen of Air and Darkness
2. Lord of Shadows
3. Chain of Gold
4. Ghosts of the Shadowmarket
5. Lady Midnight
6. Clockwork Prince
7. Clockwork Angel
8. Clockwork Princess
9. Tales of the Shadowhunter Academy
10. City of Bones
11. Chain of Iron & Chain of Thorns
12. Everything else😭 Sorry, but I really don't know how to rank the rest of tmi & tec. The only thing I know is that the Bane Chronicles is last (to be fair I only read it once and I was sick so it felt like a weird fever dream).
As you can see I'm a big tda fan. And I love Jem.

Confession: to this day I haven't read the 2 Ghosts of the Shadowmarket extra stories that were only available in the full book because I bought the book in my native language and the translation is so fucking bad that I can't handle it and always give up reading after 2 pages.

Maybe it's a bit nitpicky or maybe I'm biased because I enjoy Simon/Isabelle/Sizzy but I want another Tales from Shadowhunter Academy. And this time I want it to truly focus on Simon and Izzy.
What I mean is that while the anthology format was entertaining and showed many parts of the Shadowhunter world it necessitated Simon sharing the spotlight. He had to share with Malec in Born to an Endless Night, had to share with the Circle flashbacks in The Evil We Love. With the Blackthorns in Pale Kings and Princes. With James and Matthew in Nothing But Shadows. With Jem and Tessa in The Whitechapel Fiend.
You get the idea. And while I do enjoy it, Malec has the original series plus the Eldest Curses dedicated to different points of their relationship and progressing their character development. Not to mention the major appearances in the last two books of The Dark Artifices and cute stories in The Bane Chronicles.
The TMI gang and Last Hours gang also have their trilogies and stories in Ghosts of the Shadowmarket.
And don't get me started on Clace who have some major appearances in the original series and again, Dark Artifices.
Which yes, Isabelle and Simon appear in Dark Artifices but with much much less page time than the other four. I've mentioned it before but the favoritism seems obvious when I total all this together.
Even the bonus story detailing Simon and Izzy's engagement also has its focus on Clary and Jace by focusing on their thoughts on the future.
Which I think is a shame because there's so much going on with the two of them. While I enjoyed their struggles in finding each other and getting adjusted to each other's rhythms after Simon's mindwipe, there could be more especially after the events of Dark Artifices.
For one thing, What were Simon's first missions as a Shadowhunter like? Let's see how his bond with Clary has grown as parabati now? Also I want to know some more about his father and how his death impacted him. With so much focus on fathers in the original The Mortal Instruments, maybe he should pop up more as one of the few good fatherly figures even if he died when Simon was young.
Also I want some more on Isabelle's views on love. How is she handling Robert's death? Has she and her mom ever talked about how screwed up Maryse confiding in her was? Has she gotten to meet Simon's sister?
And even though she's more open to love, maybe she still backslides in confiding too much to Simon or still secretly fears he will leave her so she withdraws. How does she feel about children? She felt so guilty about not being able to protect Max or prevent his death, maybe that colors her fears of motherhood too?
Also since Clary and Jace are semi-friends with the Blackthorns and Malec have their friendships with Lily, Maia, Bat, Aline, Helen etc. why don't we focus on Simon's friends outside of the TMI gang. His Shadowhunter academy friends.
I know, I'm one of the very few invested in them but invested I am. If such a book took place between TfSA and LoS, we can see a bit of Marisol and Jon living together. We can see them hanging out and going on missions as full fledged Shadowhunters like in Portugal when Zara took all the credit for the demon nest. We can finally know the distant relationship of Beatriz Velez Mendoza and Cristina Mendoza Rosales, take advantage of the tangled Shadowhunter family trees.
We can see them reminisce about George Lovelace who was taken far too soon. We can become even more invested in them and their friendship with Simon so their deaths are more keenly felt.
Those are just a few things that I wouldn't mind seeing in a full length book just centered on them. All about Simon and Izzy and just growing their development and characters.

“Jem always talks about how advanced you are, so how about advancing to the part where you sleep through the night?” Kit said. “I wonder if having a mom who is an immortal warlock means that you’ve been maturing faster than other babies.” Mina had no respons for this. Kit didn’t hold Mina often, though he would bend over the cradle or someone else’s arms and awkwardly offer her attention when he came into a room where she was. He did give her his forefinger to hold frequently, and now that Mina could focus better, she would hold her hands out imperiously when Kit came near. Jem was sure she knew Min-Min was Kit’s name for her, and Kit was the boy who held her hand.”

After reading Chain of Gold, I started to have an inkling that I may have to relent and read the companion books because, though I know some of the stuff that happens in them, I don't really have a full image of all that Clare has written about the characters. Though The Last Hours does introduce the Edwardian era kids (once more) despite any earlier writing, it has become increasingly clear that I am supposed to already know them by the time of Chain of Gold. All of which has lead me to a dilemma. I don't know which to read first—Ghost of the Shadow Market or Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. James Herondale and co. have an uncanny habit of appearing almost everywhere, which sort of leads to this tattered image of whatever these characters are supposed to be. Additionally, because these stories are written during the course of several years in many different pieces, too.
The Mortal Instruments remain unfinished because I've been jumping back and forth with it and all the newer works. And now that I've read Chain of Gold, I figured Chain of Iron couldn't hurt, and since Chain of Thorns is apparently only couple months away anyway. But since I've been pushing away reading TftSA and GotSM, I've pretty much totally messed up any order in which to go through these works. There's sort of a chasm there that I want to bridge back together. I feel like the writing, the stories, are so scattered, notably with all the extras that only exist on the internet or not necessarily made available in all publications. Hence I made a complete list of the TSC works and what I've read (and covered) so far:

I have not caught up with any of the things I'm reading/watching. Manhwas I've left untouched for too long for me to even remember the plot, podcasts like Penumbra and TMA's new instalment. So many tsc books and stories, like Chain of Thorns, The Magnus trilogy and ghosts of the Shadowmarket which I've been meaning to read since forever. Fruits basket and so many other animes I've started and never finished. Like I have so much I wanna do but I don't know where to begin so I do nothing 😭
