Heyo I've gone through the entirety of your dsmp tag and god some of these character takes are just soo hhhh <33 Really not a fan of non-con but at least the way you wrote it in snapshots feels more like describing a terrible thing by focusing on the thoughts of the ppl involved rather than like, writing porn which is just,,, really refreshing and effective. Left me cringing but in a good way.

Made me start thinking on how many of these headcanons and stuff you often write are like, permanent in your version of the dsmp. Like which of them are in the background of all/most fics or drabbles you write. I get that the Dream in 'joking' doesn't transfer to other fics but;

The question is basically, did the Q you wrote in 'disgust' go through the same or similar events as 'snapshots'? Cause like god sweetie that is not gonna make you feel better.

i think there's a couple of things to touch on here and the first is that, with the exception of the quackity/techno thing (which even then, straddles the line pretty weirdly), i have not written noncon for dsmp. what i've written is characters who've been raped, with that alluded to in various levels of explicitness. "noncon" is not just a 'polite' word for rape - historically, it was associated with sexualised rape, rape fantasies, etc. i think this is a distinction worth trying to preserve in fandom, because a) it helps to point out that rape fantasy stuff is fantasy, it's almost a separate thing from rape entirely, because rape is horrific and a violation and not remotely sexy, and b) you end up with people talking in euphemisms around rape, which i think gives the word 'rape' a sort of undeserved power. name the thing! the quackity in snapshots is a rape survivor.

re: how much carries over... this is a weird one. so you're correct in saying that the dream in joking doesn't transfer to other fics - the dream in aftermath is not specifically written as attracted to minors. but... he's still like, the same read of dream that inspired joking: a very intense person, a very fucked up person, someone who has kind of destroyed his own morals and humanity and very successfully lied to himself that he can do whatever he wants and it's justified. and, of course, someone who is bewilderingly obsessed with and fixated on tommy, for whatever reason - of which pedophillic attraction is only one of many plausible narrative motivations.

in the same way, the quackity in my other fics (including disgust) didn't necessarily go through the exact same events as in snapshots. but quackity is, imho, canonically an abuse victim. certainly he's canonically a victim of domestic violence and verbal/emotional abuse - schlatt hits and belittles him on camera regularly. given that a lot of that verbal abuse and humiliation is sexual in nature (about quackity's ass; about how he's a 'beta' or a 'bitch'), i headcanon that he's a survivor of sexual abuse also. whether that's outright rape by force, as occurs in snapshots, or whether it's 'just' coerced sex (through pressuring him, through alcohol/drugs, through threats), varies, but... in everything i write, quackity has a history of sexual abuse.

so: very long answer to say, yes, the quackity in disgust is also a sexual assault survivor. yes, he's handling it very badly, and no, it's not making him feel better, but like hell is he going to let that stop him. he's doing what all my post-schlatt quackities do, which is deciding that the best lesson to learn from schlatt is that if he behaves more like schlatt, this will improve his life and stop him from being victimised again. it's not working, but hey- he's got nothing else to cling to, other than a desperate desire to be powerful, so people will stop hurting him, and this is the only idea he has. so he'll take what he can fucking get.

ok um. where does one begin to talk about this story?? well i guess first with this last part, the ending, the epilogue, the grand finale, and oh my god, you delivered. it was so good. it felt like everything fell into place. of course they would meet up in their work (work that they love). of course hange would bet on them. of course they would reconnect no matter what. i think my favorite small part about this last part is rhi. i didn't like her, but i didn't know her. but just thinking about her and reader bonding over shitty college dudes? no yeah good for them. the way mike knew how he was gonna propose with those godforsaken fucking short oh my god. he's perfect, the love i have for the way you write him it's like i want him. i want giant man to propose to me with his stinky old frat boy shorts. and erwin? oh my god, i know you have spin-offs planned but literally just getting his speech at the wedding and nothing else would be the cherry on top of this massive fucking cake. i literally have to go back and look at everything i loved about this last part because it's everything. it just so fucking good, i can't stress that enough.

this whole fucking story was not just fanfic, i mean yes that's what it is, but the story, the characters, your writing style. it all feels like an actual book. i want this book. i want to see netflix adapt this shit because they could never come up with something this good. i've been reading your writing for a while now (it's kinda ironic bc deflowered was the first thing i read from you and i can't look at zeke rn after this) and this whole thing just proves not only how good you are as a writer but how much you love it? i hope this makes sense, but prima vista is such a labor of love. even with all the fucking pain and frustration you made all of us go through, it was clear that it was made like with so much care (clearly with how much it fucking hurt me). also you never tagged this as a soulmate au, but god fucking dammit they're fucking soulmates. they struggled, but they also knew they were for each other and it sucked it took them ten fucking years, but like it also gave us this wonderful story i will be re-reading like every fucking week. i love prima vista. i love ur writing style and characterization and this only further solidified that. thank u so much for sharing this frat au (i forgot while reading the last part this really did start off with some rando coming up to her and being like "shotgun this (gross) beer?" like how did u make a frat au so beautiful. how.)

I FEEL SO VALIDATED knowing i kind of ruined zeke a little after dragging so many people down into hell with deflowered like kjgernkjn my greatest achievement. mike deserves so much more love than that rat bastard does (but i'm a little biased lmao). but really, i'm flattered you like my writing so much. i would be mortified if netflix ever tried to make an adaptation, though hahah

it really was a labor of love. that said, it felt really natural. like, the words just flowed. i had so much fucking fun writing it. i have never been able to write something of this length in such a relatively short time. i think it took me, like, a month, or so to start and finish writing it. but i wrote a lot. like, pretty much all of my free time went to this fic. i didn't mind, though. i had a blast. so i'm glad that showed through.

-THIOs name was supposed to be linked to YN searching for Jack. We kept the name bc these bitches lookin’ for Jeff and how to stop him. The name kinda bothers me now but it’s sticks well enough.

-In early concepts YN was the host of a popular cyptid hunting/buzzfeed unsovled style webshow. She was still going to be autistic w/ a special interest in the supernatural. 

-She was going to be more driven though. She would do fucking anything to prove that ghosts and/or monsters are real.

-Prob 21/22

-Jack was going to live in some abandoned mall or hospital. Same goth aesthetic but less neat and quieter. A lil more unhinged but still wicked smart.

-Soulmate AU!!!!!

-The writing on your skin shows up on your soulmate’s! YN would get hastily written science notes until she was 19 then it all stopped. Occasionally a random mark that was accidental. 

-They were too driven to really communicate much. They both figured, “Eh I’ll get to it when I’m 30.”

-YN writes her entire routine for the day on her forearm. It’s a habit that she can’t shake.

-Jack’s blind and can’t see it. But if Rake were to catch it he’d point it out prob. If Jack so desired, he could take a (shitty) pic of the text and have it read out to him

-He figures it out way before YN

-Uses it to avoid her when she comes lookin’. She doesn’t get how he keeps giving her the slip.

-When he reveals it to her she’s like MOTHERFUCKER!!!! ! !! !! !! But also, ayo? Hot gray dude with a god complex? Wanna make out?

-When it was just a Jack/reader the plot was gonna go a lil like this:

-YNs crew were going to be her buds. One of them was going to be killed by Jack for munchies pre-story. Later on, YN would use a spirit box and make contact with him (Noah) More on this in a bit

-Noah was going to be punk, loud, annoying, and a skater.

-The group is still in shock and mourning even thought it’s been two months. A few people from their block have gone missing here and there. Something isn’t right. 

-YN and co. were going to film an episode where Jack and rake live. Seedeater was contemplated on being there too but we didn’t really connect with him.

-They catch something black and blurry on camera but only see it when they’re editing. 

-Go back over and over. Nothing.

-YNs like fuck it! Im going alone bc y’all loud.

-Night vision handheld camera like outlast

-Gets a good pic of Jack. It’s unclear, he has his mask on, he’s on all fours.

-Thing is, he like, is faking being a feral animal bc he wants YN to fuck off. 

-Just imagine being smart but crawling around and growling so this girl will go away.

-Doesn’t attack her bc he’s very aware that if too many folks go missing around the area then more people will look. He doesn’t fell like relocating again.

-YN gets in contact w/ Noah via the spirit box.

-Ghosts r real baby!

-He spills on what happened to him. Tells YN that it’s too dangerous.

-His ghost is super duper fucked since Jack got to him when he was STARVING

-YN sort of heed his warning. She’s like ayo!!! Monsters are real that’s so swag but also I’m gonna expose that thing for what it did to you >:

-Noahs like on god literally dont you will die

-No <3

-There’s a big reveal when Jack finally stands up normally and YN is about to piss herself bc the entire time she thought he was a smart dog xoxo

-YN peaces the fuck out

-Goes back a lil later. Scared but determined. No one believes her abt the spirit box and Noah won’t show himself to anyone else.

-YNs upset about Noah but a curious person. Wants to examine Jack from every angle before she exposes his ass.

-Trail and error. Lots of him chasing her off or almost actually fucking killing her. 

-Eventually, there’s like a weird unorthodox interview.

-YN asks him questions from across a tiny table. He’s so fucking tall, he could reach over and snap your neck in an instant. 

-Learn about one another. 

-Bonding. Some frenemy type of shit.

-Jack is YNs 7ft tall lil secret

-Closer. Forgiveness.

-Someone else is like ayo? There’s body parts at (Jack’s place of residence)

-Ruh-roh law enforcement.

-YN and co. saves Jack 

-Friends feel betrayed but they like ight ig, monster fucker lookin ass

-Gets muddied here bc this is where we did an overhaul to the plot where it was more of a character driven, tragic, depressing, hope punk, sort of thing with lesbians and mullet Liu. 

-Note that I’m not going to write this. I’ve found I only enjoy writing polyamory fics instead of solo stuff x.

spoiler alert: i’m not good with words shkfjshf don’t expect much from me pls. also, these are in no order, just how they come to my head

1. let me just start with my comfort drama, 2gether the series. this drama is so.. good? like i personally really liked watching tine falling in love with sarawat while watching sarawat fall in love with tine outside the bubble he created in his head about him. i love how pure their love is and, even with its flaws sometimes *ehem* the season finale handshake *ehem*, how they show it to each other in various ways. the side couples are good as well (even if it took me the existence of s2g for me to like milphukong) and so are the other characters. i hold this drama close to my heart and will always treasure it <3

2. next up is *drum roll* brooklyn nine nine!!! i rarely talk about it other than when it’s airing but this show is soooo good. i’ve been watching it for a few years (with a few hiatus in between because a bitch is dumb and forgot to keep watching... for months at a time) and half rewatched it half finished watching it to catch up before season 7 came out and let me tell you, the way this show has my heart????? god i love it i literally sobbed while watching the season 7 finale because my parents have a son now!!!!!!!! ah anyways, even though it’s a sitcom and sitcoms have like.... faint plots, i really like how it’s going for each character and i’m so excited to watch season 8 (for what i’m hoping it’ll be) next year!!!!

3. i had to think about this a bit but i think i’m gonna go with dark blue kiss! this drama was honestly a ride but seeing a grown up petekao and the idiots squad going through life was truly the highlight of it. after rahul’s post, i don’t think i can say anything close to the beautiful words he used hhhh but i’ll try and make sense sjfhs what i really like about this drama is how it’s a tad bit more mature than you’d usually expect from a bl? the side couple is definitely more mature since sun is like.. Years older than mork and shit sjfhks but yeah, u can see it in how it handled certain things that maybe other bls haven’t really touched on ((and i get that bls are like.. supposedly feel good content for (non) lgbt audiences but ignoring those does Not make us feel good... <3)) and i especially love the ending!! the last episode really highlights the character development from everyone during the whole series and i think there couldn’t have been a better one :-)

4. okay this might come as a shock to some but next is the untamed!! basically the drama that made me come back to tumblr sjfhksfj i’m so attached to drama i’ve rewatched it once *holt’s voice* AND I’LL DO IT AGAIN. no but really, i really want to rewatch and i would if the whole rip lotus pier arc didn’t make me want to punch jiang cheng’s ass Badly,,,, but other than that, what an amazing drama holy Fuck. the characters....... such complex characters and so many smartasses together. i fucking Love it. i especially love how the directors of the drama said “okay how gay can we make this without getting the attention of the government” ksjfjsfh but yeh . this drama makes me Feel things so it of course had to be here

5. and last but not least (and probably the hardest to choose because why did u just give me 5 op smh), theory of love!! now, does the power of this drama towards my person have something to do with me being whipped for half of the cast? of course yes. but cast aside, the story was really good!! and as someone who, at the time of watching, hadn’t really seen many non-engineers bls, this was truly a breath of fresh air. i love how, even though it’s the clear best friends to lovers, they added the one sided crush at the start and lots of angst in the middle to make it extra ✨🌶spicy🌶✨ and break our hearts even more :-))) also, something that i found really interesting was the fact the side couples were not in the book??? so someone in that writing room thought bone being into his teacher was okay.... lmao chile angays untwo! underappreciated couple and underappreaciated characters. two?? a literal sweetheart. un??? the man’s just vibing and hoping for two to stop hating him for no reason skjfhksj but oh well they ended up together so . win for the bisexuals ! khai and third Hurt and they (well, third) went through it all, but now tHEYRE ENGAGED BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay that’s all sfhksjfhf this was really fun!! and it made me truly think why i love these shows and try and express it so !! great hehe

See the ironic thing is, during like...2014-17 I was considered one of those Big Name Fans and the culture in the fandom back then was very openly queer and progressive and a lot of fun, and when I came back after a huge mental health crash it was like it had been enveloped in a black hole of ... toxicity.

The lack of awareness that has festered in there has just been stewing for those years and like, there was actually a time when Leela/Romana was the biggest ship and almost everyone who loved the audios was queer/minority in some way. And now the most popular one is a fucking HET one like you gotta be fucking kidding me lmfao??? it's honestly disgraceful how stagnant it's become in there. An echo chamber of the same 8 people thinking they're hot shit and not accepting anything beyond their headcanons/ships.

And don't even get me started on the content creation oh my god. It's like, you make art to show your love and then it depends on those same 8 people giving it their stamp of approval in order for it to be considered decent and this pushes/has pushed out so so many small creators in what used to be a haven for smaller creators. It's absolutely a content creation oligarchy and as one of the OG members it pisses me off

And yeah I eventually just saw my way out of the fandom and stopped really...giving a shit. I still love and enjoy the audios so, so much as they've helped me a lot during a rough time in my life esp as a teen but I just don't wanna be part of the circus anymore. It's stale. It's sad. Esp since it's absolutely a great series too which makes it worse.

Oh man... that’s really sad to learn... I joined gally at around autumn 2017 so i don’t know much about the history of the fandom. And tbh yeah I agree I haven’t listened to gally in a long time (hyperfixiated on the bennys now hhhh) but from what I remembered romana leela is indeed a juicier dynamic than narvinleela.

And yeah I feel the thing about content creation so much. In a normal fandom the content gets attention by their quality and the creators build up their fan bases that way, while in here the fandom is so small that it’s impossible to build up a noticeable fan base so the attention is kind of held in the monopolies of the BNFs who then get to decide if your stuff gets attention or not? It’s a very sickening system and I used to be so jealous and angry over it everyday (until I got onto original illustrator lofter and I recieved much more attention for the quality of my art because nobody knows the fandom hhhh, and of course thank to my close fandom friends of about 6 people who commented and critiqued my art in the tags...)

Its really sad that that a good show have to have such a toxic fandom, but if it helped your mental health then I’m glad you left the fandom!! It’s what I’m doing now hhhh and I feel so much better not giving as shit

Dream will freak out when all those messages sent by his boys start showing up on his phone and he realizes just how badly he scares them. They mostly won't let Dream go anywhere for awhile or make excuses for one of them to tag along.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS I love me so worried, protective boys! 👏👏👏 I don’t think they’d restrict him from leaving the castle, but tagging along sounds like a possibility 👀 Cross asks Dream if he’d like some company while going out, but he’s sweating up a storm, and Dream can easily read his worry. Killer would just say he’s accompanying Dream point blank, no need for an excuse other than “he wants to hang out with his little light.” He doesn’t make a big deal about it, and he and Dream end up having a fun chill time. Nightmare is the one who tries to convince Dream to stay in bed with him, bribing him with sleeping together or fucking. It works for a little while until Dream actually has to go take care of business. They establish a system then of texting each other back and forth every so often for both updates and to keep the other reassured. 😌❤️️
