There’s a show coming up, and I think I’m going to be able to eke this thing out in time to enter it!
You can probably see some lighter spots of the red; that is from where I scratched some away in order to neaten up some lines. They should even out once fired.
Largest piece I’ve sculpted so far. Left it on the shelf to be certain it was bone dry then returning to the studio some time this month to bisque fire it.
had a great week making more work for another firing by the end of this month. fingers crossed i at least partly set my masochistic tendencies and have created work that's still thin buuuut better supported/less heavily alerted to mitigate collapse, even if some look like an approaching train wreck.
oh and some work in progress from late yesterday;
more tiny gravity-slapping vases and/or winter holidays ornaments/designs and going bigger with bowls (this fella is only 10" wide and working towards consistently throwing to 18" wide range by the end of the year. still learning how porcelain does what it do and that just takes some time)
also, so beyond thrilled falling down the crystalline glazing rabbit hole that there will be far more traditional forms in the future to highlight all the growing fun and future experiments. even ordered some tungsten trioxide the other day that i can't wait to experiment with, which should ship in early November. think iridescent acid trip crystals 🔮 💎
however, more tests to come for the firing before then, which is about as compelling as the previous wonder show, and so long as the world keeps spinning there should be a glaze firing fitting as much of this as possible for Halloween. what better way to celebrate the best holiday though, honestly...
Churning out radish cows to fit into one last Etsy update I’m going to try to pull off beginning of December. Had a little extra time and wanted to try my hand at a wee friend from the new Pokémon games which is taking up all brain space as I work (~_~;)
