Custom hair bows! I can do any two colors, even patterns if the store has them. The bows are 4 1/2 inches long, and turnaround time to make them is three business days (maybe longer if I cant find the right color fabric), and then they would be shipped off! Debating on doing 6$ a bow, 7$ for patterned bows. (I can do local pickup, and shipping is free) Message if interested 💜

During the 1890s and the early twentieth century, infants, no matter their sex, were dressed in long white gowns that could be bleached cleaned. This fashion remained the same until WW1 as rationing meant that hemlines shortened. Bonnets remained common accessories though the hair bow gained popularity for baby girls in the 1910s.
By the 1920s, baby fashion in line with adult clothing, was sailor inspired and hemlines crept higher up. This trend continued to the 1930s as the great depression meant fabric was scarce and expensive. In fact, for poorer families, infant clothing was handmade with whatever was available, including flour sacks and old curtains.
The 1940s meant WW2 and any sort of elaborateness was very frowned upon. Fabrics were cheap cottons and almost always recycled and knit clothing rose in popularity.
Prosperity and affluence defined the 1950s and this was reflected in baby clothing. Baby boys were dressed similar to older men in little suits with shorts instead of long pants and little girls in full, babydoll dresses. This era also established the stereotypical blue for boys;pink for girls that remains till today.

Frill Skirt Tutorial
Here's a tutorial for making a lolita skirt with a fully elastic waistband.
Recommended background reading: How to pick quilt prints for use in lolita fashion. And here's some things I've previously said about this project.
Tumblr media
We're going to make some skirts that look like this. This is a really fun project because you can use a lot of quilt prints, and fully elastic skirts are comfortable and flexible wardrobe pieces.
Tumblr media
In this skirt, my pink striped fabric is "Skirt", and the navy with the shoes is "frill". The black lace at the bottom of the skirt is the hem lace, and the lace with the pink ribbon is the transition lace.
You can use the same fabric for the frill and the skirt, making it look more like the skirts referenced above. If you use different fabric for the frill and the skirt, it's is a little bit like faking a border print.
Here's some cutting dimensions. Please excuse the fact that I forgot to turn off "emulate brush dynamics".
Tumblr media
Because this is elastic, we're going to be basing the sizes off how much fabric you cut. When you're working with a big, gathered rectangle, you have a lot of options for how much ease you're going to put in the garment.
I forgot to list it, but these skirts really look better when they're lined with a slippery lining fabric. For lining, you just need the "skirt" measurement. For size 1, you need 23" of lining, or 2/3 of a yard.
Tumblr media
For size 2, you're going to want 36" of lining, or one yard.
All these sizes include some fabric for extra things like bows and hair accessories. I highly, HIGHLY recommend getting into the habit of making matching accessories as part of the project of making a lolita garment. You're going to need them anyway, so they might as well match.
Tumblr media
For size 3, you will want 40" of lining fabric, or 1 + 1/8 yards.
All of these sizes assume that you're using 45" wide fabric. If you're using 60" fabric, you can likely go down a size. (This would be max hip of 52" for size 1, 82" for size 2, and 172" for size 3).
For any view, you will also need enough 1/4" or 3/8" elastic to go around your natural waist (or wherever you wear your skirt) about 4 times. Let's be honest, we all have a massive roll of 1/4" elastic hanging around from making covid masks, so let's use it up.
These skirts are a little bit on the shorter side, because that's just how Meta releases them. Since you're the one making the skirt, you can make some decisions. If you're tall, want to wear a fuller petticoat, or are building a skirt for a substyle where you usually want a longer skirt, you can add a few inches. You'll get a slightly different look if you're lengthening the skirt versus lengthening the frill, versus lengthening both equally. If you're not sure, now's a good time to check out lolibrary and look for dresses and skirts and see where they place the details around the hem. Lolibrary lets you search by brand, so search by brand and just take a note of what you see most often in pieces that you like.
Tumblr media
For example, Alice and the Pirates often has the hem detail to be pretty close to the hem on their solid pieces, while Baby the Stars Shine Bright will have the detail going up quite a bit higher. (Please do more than the 10 seconds of searching that I did to get these examples). Therefore, if you want to lengthen the skirt and have a slightly more AatP tone, you can add the length to the skirt part of the skirt, and if you want a slightly more BtSSB tone, you can add the length to the frill part.
Researching your garments is the secret to having handmade garments that actually read as lolita fashion. Lolita fashion history is documented to an extent that no other fashion I've ever heard of is, and it really helps to take advantage of that extraordinary resource.
With our pattern ready and maybe lightly adjusted, let's get to work:
Foundational fact #1: fabric that rips will rip in a straight line along the grain of the fabric. Our skirt is made entirely of rectangles, so we're going to take advantage of that fact. If you want to cut your fabric with scissors, or with a rotary cutter, you're completely allowed to. If you don't have a serger with a functional cutting blade, you might want to cut it so that you don't need to trim the edges. I have a serger and I like to rip it. It might not be the best way, but it's how I've been making my lolita skirts since 2011, and I don't like change and I do like the stress-relieving experience of ripping.
Tumblr media
So, lay your fabric out, and mark your cutting lines. If you're ripping the fabric, like I am, you just need to cut a little snip to get the tearing started.
This pattern factors in a half inch for seam allowance. If you're ripping the fabric, you will lose a little bit of usable fabric, so add yourself an extra inch to each cut.
Tumblr media
Take your nice straight cuts/rips and lay them out in an organized fashion. You should have a frill pile, a skirt pile, a waistband pile, and an extra pile. If you like piles, you can also pile up your lace next to it.
Tumblr media
You're going to sew every pile together so that you have each it its own long strip. Your lining (white fabric) should be the same size as your skirt piece. If it's longer (if you're using 45" quilt fabric for the face and 60" lining fabric for the lining), go ahead and trim them so they're the same total length in the long dimension.
Put the skirt on top of your lining and sew the top edges together.
You'll notice that this skirt is made up in doubles. The skirt is twice the long dimension as the waistband, and the frill is twice the long dimension of the skirt. This makes things easy to gather up.
If you're not using an overlocker to assemble this skirt, you will also want to run some kind of seam finish on the long ends of this skirt, to stop fraying.
Tumblr media
(please pardon my hypermobile thumb)
A lot of people do gathering stitches by sewing two lines of basting stitches, and then pulling the thread on those stitches to cinch up the gathers. This does work really well on small things. However, as the amount that you need to gather gets longer and longer, it's gets more and more difficult to pull those threads without them breaking. Instead, I like using an applied gathering string. My current favorite string is waxed dental floss. Most dentists recommend unwaxed floss since it grabs more plaque, so make the smart decision and retire your waxed floss to be in your sewing box.
Tumblr media
If you are making this project on a serger or an overlocker (and this is a GREAT first serger project), you can overlock over the dental floss. Here you can see the white floss going between the two needles. The needles are not going through the floss, just on either side of it. Tip: that little hole in the front of the presser foot is actually intended for you to put elastic or thread through so you don't need to hold it as carefully. I forgot and so I didn't do that here).
We're applying the dental floss onto the top edge of the ruffle.
Tumblr media
If you aren't using an overlocker, you can do some form of hem finish (my favorite is the 3-step zigzag) and then apply the dental floss by doing a zigzag over it. Again, the needle isn't going through the floor, just on either side of it.
Tumblr media
Now, pin your ruffle onto your skirt. I divide the ruffle and skirt up into equal portions, and then pin it first. My ruffle is twice the long measure as the skirt is, and they're both cut out of the same width of fabric. This means that dividing the ruffle up is pretty easy, because I can use the seams of the ruffle. The first seam in my ruffle goes halfway between the edge of the skirt and its first seam. The second seam of my ruffle goes on the first seam of my skirt, and so on.
Tumblr media
Then, you just pull your dental floss so that it gathers up the fabric, and pin it down. Since we divided the fabric up earlier, we don't need to spend as much fight getting all the ruffles to be even. Go ahead and pin everything down, and then sew it together.
Tumblr media
Now you're going to fold the skirt and lining in half to seam it all together. Match up your seams, and unfold your lining (see picture). This will let you sew the frill, the skirt, and the lining all together in one go.
Tumblr media
The easiest time to put the hem and transition laces on is before you attach the waistband. The basic rule with gathered skirts is that it's a lot easier to apply anything flat that you can before you gather it.
In a lot of older lolita tutorials, a lot of people treated lace as optional. However, now that it's not 2007 anymore, we have a bit more of an expectation for detail in the garments we wear. Quilt cotton especially has a very flat texture, even when it has a nice print. If you can add a bit of texture and detail, you want to do so. If you're doing the skirt and the ruffle out of the same fabric, you can probably get away without using the transition lace, but you will still want hem lace.
Tumblr media
I didn't have any lace when I was making this one, so I used a couple of lines of decorative topstitching between the skirt and the frill. I got the idea from this blog post from 2010. I didn't execute it as well as Lolita Noveau did, but that was the general concept.
Anyway, waistband time.
Tumblr media
Take the edges of your waistband and press them in. You don't need to apply a seam finish before you do this. I have overlocking on mine because I ripped my fabric, and used the serger to clean up the edge. If you don't rip your fabric like a savage and use technology like scissors instead, you don't have that problem.
Tumblr media
Fold your waistband in half. It's now time to sew the elastic channels.
Here's the secret to this waistband. Start out by stitching a line about 3/16" away from the fold in your waistband.
Tumblr media
When you put your elastic in, this little line of stitching makes your waistband stay on straight, and adds a tiny ruffle to the top. I picked this up from the Metamorphose frill skirts, and it's amazing.
After you've made that line of stitching, start making channels for your elastic. Add about 1/8" of width from the width of your elastic (so 1/4" elastic, sew your channels at 3/8". 3/8" elastic, sew your channels at 1/2"). Leave a space for you to be able to actually put the elastic in. Don't forget this, or you'll have to redo it. Ask me how I know. I found that three channels works pretty well. Don't sew the channel closest to the edge, because you need to attach your skirt.
You're going to need to gather the top of your skirt, just like you gathered the top of your frill. Get your dental floss and your zigzag stitch ready.
Your waistband (flat) will be twice the length of your skirt, so you can pin and pull the gathers just like you did for the ruffle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this part is important: You are going to sew the right side of a single thickness of the waistband onto the wrong side of the skirt. I don't have a good picture of this, but here goes trying to explain it.
You need to sew the waistband so that the top seam of the skirt (the part that's sewn to the lining) is sandwiched between the front and back of the waistband. You are going to have your edges of the waistband turned under to hide the raw edge.
While you CAN do this by just putting the top of the skirt edge into the waistband seam and sew it down, you can make it look prettier by doing it like this:
You sew the right side of a single thickness of the waistband to the wrong side of the skirt. This means that, when you unfold it, the seam will be pointing outward, towards the viewer. This feels like it would look bad.
You then press that seam so that it's flat, and then wrap the front of the waistband to the front of the skirt. You tuck the raw edges into the waistband, so that they're all sandwiched between the back and the front of the waistband. You then sew the front of the waistband down from the front.
What this does is it allows you to have very precise control of where your final line of topstitching is. If you've ever sewn a skirt facing and been told to stitch the back of the facing by doing a stitch-in-the-ditch, this is like that but in reverse. It's the same process, but with the top stitching definitely showing.
Tumblr media
Anyway, you can now cut your elastic to your waist measurement (or maybe about an inch shorter than your waist measurement) and start feeding it through your elastic channels. Since you're using such thin elastic, it helps to have negative ease (which is the technical name for "cut it smaller because it'll stretch) in your elastic measurements. Start by putting in the elastic at the top casing, and go down.
Sew your elastic ends together when you're done, and there you go! If this is your first lolita garment, congrats! See if Wunderwelt Closet Child has a blouse in your size that goes with your skirt, because they ship fast and some items are really discounted. 42lolita is a lolita-themed taobao reseller that's easy to shop. Basically just don't overpay from devilinspired. If you're going to have to wait crazy long lead times anyway, you might as well be not spending their big marked up prices.
Tumblr media
Finish up any little last things, like threading the ribbon through your beading lace, if you used it.
Tumblr media
Anyway, now you have a skirt! Yay. Make yourself several and learn how colors, prints, scale, and texture work with each other.

Syl, my lovely, please. I need to see this vision come to life through your words. Would König take his darling to the Ren Faire?🌷
VANI!!! my angel!! of course he would… König is a just a hapless knight at heart & it gives him an excuse to treat you like an actual princess! 🗡💕 i can not promise you that he will not force you to sit in his lap and play skyrim or something when you get home though…! /:
“Danke for agreeing to come,” he whispers to you once you’re out in the sprawling field, an abundance of colorful tents, partitions and others in similar dress surrounding the two of you.
It’s a lot to take in, as though you’ve been whisked away to a separate world entirely; the air smells faintly of fresh food, a bard strums a lute somewhere out in the distance, and… was that supposed to be a dragon’s roar?
König dons a veil of tightly woven chainmail, only a glimpse of his jaw visible, lined with prickly stubble. The rest of his armor leaves little glimpses of him, his thick wrist between cuff and glove, the bob of his Adam’s apple as he curls his arm around you protectively. If it were possible, he seems even larger wearing the plates of armor, far more imposing like this.
Tucked at his side, stands you in your linen bliaut, a soft woolen cloak dyed a royal blue thrown over your shoulders; a stark contrast from the shimmering and hardened armor of the knight guiding each of your steps with his arm around your waist.
König has to look at everything— marveling at the handmade objects and shiny, smithed weapons in each booth.
When you give him a quizzical glance as he ghosts his gloved fingertips over the angular blade of an exceptionally smart spear, he pauses his frantic admiration for a time to explain to you that it reminds him of one he read about once— like Odin’s Gungnir, fierce and proud. Even you take a moment to admire its craftsmanship, to which the pale blue of his eyes seems to light up; he makes the purchase without a second thought.
You find yourself enjoying the atmosphere, especially with that ever-present grin on König’s face; he’s in his element surrounded by fantasies drawn from history. It’s a nice change, seeing him so filled up with whimsy as he whisks you from tent to tent, buying you anything that catches your eye, taking your picture any chance that he gets.
You humor him, lifting your skirts a little when you pass between two of the fabric structures, hidden away from the eyes of any other grinning merchants, pretty ladies, and bellowing bards.
Seated in his lap he tells you of holy grails and swordplay tactics while feeding you from a dish on a wooden countertop, a pastry stuffed full with apple.
You only think to offer a complaint once you note the three now emptied pewter goblets of mead in front of him as König proclaims he wants to act out a proper sword fight with one of the others donning armor in the small, hastily fenced in area serving as a knight’s training yard.
(It was certainly a coincidence that the one he chose to spar with happened to be the very same man who offered you a friendly wave in passing.)
He makes a display of his swordsmanship, swift knocks and parries that leave your eyes wide as you clasp your hands over your mouth; even a prise de fer as you dig your nails into the wood of the shoddy fence. You’ve never seen him so swift, so brutal, as when he finally knocks his opponent into the dust, the sharpened edge of his blade pointed downward. Had this not all been pretend, you could imagine the bloodshed that would have occurred here.
Thankfully, König backs off, dips his head in a begrudging bow to his opponent before wandering back to you.
Your hand is pried from the fence, a kiss placed upon every knuckle as you praise his talents. He smirks, proud, and whispers to you something about how he had to show off for his lady. Even has the audacity to tell you that he would kill for you, and you knew very well it was not said entirely in jest.
When the sun finally dims and lanterns are lit, bathing the green below your boots in a soft, tangerine glow, you find yourself helping to loosen the straps of König’s armor. Poor thing had not thought to wear a proper shirt beneath, or.. perhaps, that was intentional. The sweat glistens off of him when you’ve tossed his dark top and curved metal into a heap, the curls of his chest hair sticking to pale flesh.
You rove your hand over him to dull the ache of those straps digging into his shoulders. He groans, contented as he pulls you up to your feet, leaning down just enough to kiss you, to desperately grope at your hips, your rear, before the strumming of a lute and the cheers and giggles accompanied by dancing fills your ears.
Attentions turned, you find yourself curling your hand into his, tugging him towards the feathery songs and shuffling of feet.
“We should dance,” you suggest, all giggles when you tilt your head to offer a pleading glance to him over your shoulder.
“Anything for you, meine prinzessin.”

Blame It on the Dog.
florence pugh x reader
summary: you make flo a little annoyed when watching her cook
words: 1978 (short 💔)
warnings: none! (god can u believe it)
notes: requested by @kassies-take - thank you so much. this was so peaceful and relaxing to write.
also i’m an awful cook so don’t ask me what she was making
Tumblr media
Having proper meals has never been your top priority in life. Earning enough to put food on the table, yes. Eating the food on the table? That could wait.
Then your girlfriend came along, begged you to live with her, and decided she’d be your personal chef until the day you die (and she’d run into oncoming traffic before allowing the cause of death to be malnutrition). Breakfast is always fresh and healthy and too good not to eat, and as lunch can be on-the-go and busy, a hearty dinner finishes your day. Like bookends.
Sometimes, Flo gets lonely and talkative – usually when you’re not around to sit at the table and nod along to her monologue – hence her personal cooking show on her Instagram. It goes smoothly because she has no distraction, bar the scavenging dog and her impeccable music taste (which you don’t tend to like because it gets wacky and you have enough strangeness in your life through her), and her followers keenly watch every part to her lengthy story because they love her and the food looks good.
The food is good; so good that she frequently doesn’t have to make dessert.
“Y/n,” Flo grumbles, prodding you with a jittery index. You recline on the sofa, having been lazing around ever since you stepped through the front door.
She’s been on edge recently. Nothing’s come your way, but you can sense that something (or someone) has worsened her general anxiety and caused her to become restless and, frankly, a little irritating.
“Hm?” You open your eyes. “You okay?” She nods, fingers playing with the bow of her apron, rubbing the fabric between them. “Oh, is dinner ready?”
“No, I was just about to start on it,” explains Flo, perching on the arm of the sofa, fingers now walking up and down your forearm.
“You seem antsy.”
“Do I?”
You raise your eyebrows, wondering why she’s in denial. She’s quite upfront most of the time, and you say, “yeah, you do. You look like you’re about to stress-cook a five course meal.” She slides down the arm, landing lightly in your lap. “What’s wrong?”
“Just people.” Ah. Rumours. Normal things. “I’m going to film a Cooking With Flo – I was just telling you in case you wanted to watch.” Two years and you’ve never seen the entirety of your personal cooking show. You might catch the end if you get to the kitchen early.
You press a kiss to her lips. “Sounds fun. I’ll be your first live human audience.” Billie barks from the other side of the sofa, where she has been matching your mood and napping on a handmade cushion Flo picked up when filming in Morocco. “Sorry!” She turns away from the both of you in a huff, and Flo calls after her saying she cherishes her company more than yours. “I’m going to push you off me in a second.”
Dramatically, she groans. “My girls hate me, do they? Good thing millions of people can be my friends instead.”
“Fuck off,” you joke, wrapping your arms around her waist before she can saunter off. You bury your face in her hair, breathing in the smell of a shampoo that was yours originally but stolen and carted off round the globe by her. “I love you. I know you’re stressed.”
“Y/n…” She hates trying to be cross with you because she hates failing. She relaxes into you. “I’m just going to cook it out. Are you coming or are you both going to be couch potatoes?”
You pat Billie’s bum. “We forgive you for making us compete for your love and affection.” Billie grunts in agreement. “But my associate here is demanding cuddles as compensation. Specifically, cuddles for me – oh, that’s so kind of you, Billie – involving a kiss or two or three, and maybe some state of undress. Scandalous, but you have to pay the price.”
“And this is all Billie’s idea?” she teases, turning around and straddling you. If you had been looking at the dog, you would have seen her roll her eyes. “Definitely not yours.”
“No, I would never ask for that. I think Florence Pugh is a bad kisser.”
She frowns, standing up. “I’m never kissing you again. Billie gets all my love from now on.” To top it off, the dog follows her as she exits the room, tail wagging like she knows she is suddenly number one. You trail after them because there’s nothing else for you to really do.
It makes your girlfriend quite smug to see you observing her every move, staring when her hips sway to a song she’s only playing because she knows you hate it. The music barely registers in your mind as you settle your gaze on her, only tuning into her commentary to keep you grounded. Otherwise you’d probably pounce on her.
Deciding to satisfy an alternative hunger (she’s adamant that you can’t sleep with her until you retract your statement from earlier, but you’re a stubborn woman and refuse), you reach across the worktop for the chopping board, pulling it towards you. Flo is in her own world, filming what’s happening on the stove, talking to her phone. You wash the chopped cherry tomatoes down with the margarita she made both of you, sliding the board back to a similar position it was in when she left, pretending you’ve been sitting there doing nothing the whole time her back has been turned.
“I’ve prepped the–” Your guilty expression and the sudden decline in tomatoes cause her to stop recording. “Did you eat them?” You shake your head. Shamelessly.
“Billie ate them.”
She glances doubtfully at the dog, who is eating her own dinner, then back to you. “Billie jumped onto the worktop, and, despite the fact she doesn’t like tomatoes, gobbled half of them up?”
“I guess so.” You waggle your finger at the very innocent dog; no wonder she naps by Flo’s feet more often than yours.
Flo furrows her eyebrows, amusement slowly tugging the corner of her lips into a soft smile. She continues recording. “Sorry about that. I prepped the tomatoes, but someone ate half right from the chopping board. If you ever find yourself with a food thief in your kitchen, the best way to recover is to make yourself an even stronger margarita and reassure your dog that you don’t believe one word of the blame placed on her.” She looks directly at you.
“It wasn’t me!”
“Right, Y/n.” She rolls her eyes at the camera, using your arm on the worktop as a stand for her phone. You whisper to the microphone that she trusts you very little and that it is perfectly realistic for Billie to steal food from you.
The next time you take something is when she bends to put the vegetables in the oven, handily facing away and very focused.
She leaves the feta out, temptingly right in front of you. You have a whole shelf stacked with packs and packs of it in the fridge so you resolve that it won’t hurt.
Eating feta while looking at her bum (her jeans are very flattering – you remind yourself that she’s your girlfriend of three years and that you are very much allowed to stare) would be a perfect evening if she didn’t seem to still have a ‘songs Y/n hates’ playlist on shuffle. Once she’s finished her detailed explanation of why she’s now baking everything in the oven, she ends the video, uploading it to her story and catching you in the act. You freeze
“Caught feta-handed.”
Her face is so serious that you laugh, ultimately choking on the cheese and needing a long gulp of your cocktail to fix it.
“I would never eat your ingredients. I’m telling you that it’s Billie!” The dog is on the other side of the room. You pout at her. She ignores you and updates everyone on what’s baking.
“The cherry on top will be this white wine sauce that my friend showed me a few weeks ago.” It’s a good sauce. “Then all we’ve got to do is take everything out of the oven, toss the salad and add the feta, and we’re done!”
Her glass is empty, and so is yours, so you grab the bottle of tequila from the cupboard and start measuring things out in the cocktail shaker. You mix the drink and give Flo hers in a glass chilled from the freezer, kissing her cheek before returning to your seat. You groan once you get there, asking how long she’s going to be. You are so hungry.
“Y/n, can I use this one?” She holds up a bottle of Delas Freres. A sixty pound bottle. She makes faces at the camera while you decide.
“Do we have another bottle?” She shakes her head. “I mean, Mum gave it to you, so it’s your choice.”
“Guys,” she says, addressing her millions of friends, “this wine is one of my favourites, but if you don’t want to use your prized white in the sauce, you could easily use something else. But I’m gonna bung it in – Y/n’s mum loves me and will get me another bottle.”
You took Flo to meet your parents a month into seeing her. They used to FaceTime you to check in, now they only call your girlfriend. It’s okay because her family would much rather have you stay over.
She has far too much trust in you, because you drink a sixth of the bottle the minute it’s open and her attention is on something else. By now, she really should be expecting it but her mouth still forms an ‘o’. “Y/n!” She’s slightly offended now. “Why am I cooking if you’d rather eat everything raw?”
When Flo gets cross with you – which is rarely something super serious – she folds her arms and furrows her brows and sits in a hip; a perfect replica of her mother. You can see her prepare her war stance, eyes widening. She settles into an upset frown, over exaggerated for sure, and you exhale in relief. Thankfully it won’t be your last breath.
You make a big show of enjoying the food once she’s finished, not being able to bear the glint of actual hurt in her eyes. Part of you is convinced she’s acting, but you’re trying to make it up to her just to be sure. You might have taken your teasing a little too far. You can fix this.
“I’m not going to touch you no matter how many times you moan.” You swallow your water quickly, nearly choking; it’s a close call. “I know the food is delicious. You know the ingredients are delicious.”
“I was hungry.” She waits. “And thirsty.”
“You are definitely thirsty.” A euphemism. She’s proud of herself for that one.
You decide to change the topic slightly, knowing that something’s going to be slammed on the table in either direction that this current chat is going. (One is a world where she forgives you, the other is where she does the opposite.) “Has the response been good so far?” Your fork clatters against your polished-off plate. There’s a slight smirk of satisfaction creeping onto her lips. “Don’t be so pouty.”
“I am not being pouty!” You laugh. “And the response has been excellent, thank you very much. Lots of nice things said about my cooking.”
Her phone sits on the worktop. You grab it on your way back from putting both your plates in the sink, unlocking the device and going onto Instagram.
A few people have commented on your mouse-like tendencies.
You snap a picture of her pouty/confused/entertained expression, adding it to her story captioned: ‘she doesn't like it when cooking with flo becomes eating with Y/n’.

So excited to have finished my Castlevania JSK and coord! I designed the fabric just about a year ago, and it's so incredible to see something I created come together from concept to complete look. I had a great time wearing it at my local renfaire. :)

Appreciation post for my KISS concert outfit ❤️‍🔥
The make up was super rushed and messy due to uncool train shenanigans (cancellations and massive delays) and very limited getting ready time at the hostel the day of, but otherwise I'm so so so happy with how everything turned out!
I didn't have a solid vision, it all somehow came together in the end though! 🦊💕
In the words of one of the many people who complimented my look (and asked to take photos with me): ERIC CARR IS ALIVE! ✨
Outfit rundown:
- Hair is my own, kept in Rachel Maksy style foam curlers for the duration of my train odyssey before the event
- Ears are ages old clip-ons I got at an anime convention, removed the bows and bells and added the pink lining (quickly handsewn on the train a couple hours before the concert)
- Choker is completely handmade with an ankh pendant I got at an antique market a few years ago, most of the gems are glued down due to time constraints, some are sewn because they fell off on the journey to the concert and I had to make the collar look symmetrical/make the gap above the attached pendant look intentional lol
- Fake fur collar and legwarmers are completely handmade with fabric I found at a store a couple cities away, acquiring said fabric was an entire day's journey in itself but my best option with what little time I had lol, just the right amount left on the bolt, super worth the $$$ I spent on it, so soft and fluffy, kept me cozy in the chilly stadium, definitely destiny, both of these were the stars of the whole ensemble imho
- Armbands and wrist cuffs are completely handmade, not as bedazzled and shiny due to time constraints once again, but they definitely help pull the look together <3
- Shaping bodysuit I'm wearing underneath to keep my saggy chest flaps in place is thrifted, literally purchased a day before the concert, destiny once again, this might actually become a staple piece for other low-cut neckline looks in the future <3 doesn't compress as much as a binder would, but definitely flatter and more secure than a sports bra!
- Black long-sleeved bodysuit is a fleamarket find, had to cut open and extend the crotch closure flaps to fit my long torso and added some sew-on gems along the hips and around the lace up detail neckline (which you can't see here because the fur collar covered it all up lol)
- Black leather waist belt with studs was another incredibly lucky fleamarket find and such a steal for only 3 bucks!!! perfect KISS vibes <333
- Basic black leggings were a thrift find for only 30 cents(!!!), added all the sequins one by one by hand (front and back)
- Shoes are buffalo platforms I treated myself to back in 2021, they were on sale and I've always wanted a pair of platforms and they're the only ones I own so with the outfit they went lol
- Fingerless gloves are an old fraying at the edges pair I got many moons ago at the german equivalent of a dollar store as a teen, there was no time to go looking for black leather fingerless driving gloves
Even though this was for the occasion of the very final last world tour, I kinda want to keep working on and improving this costume and take it to conventions, maybe even to KISS tribute band concerts/events if there ever are any near me!
I've really fallen in love with this outfit over the weeks and days I've collected and crafted all the pieces and I feel so confident and handsome wearing it, getting closer to my ideal of looking feminine in a masculine way 💕💕💕

For much of human history, children were dressed similarly or identical to adults and this was true for the Victorian era which saw children dressed in stiff heavy layers that didn't allow for play. By the 1900s, in line with adult styles, children clothing became much less elaborate. Little girls emulated the elongated silhouette fashionable for adult women with drop waist dresses while boys' clothing became increasingly sailor inspired.
The 1910s established children's clothing as separate to adult styles. Sailor outfits were all the rage, particularly for young boys. WW1 meant rationing so hemlines crept up and clothing became less ornate in construction and embellishments.
After the war, in the 1920s, children's fashion remained simple, gone were the velvets and silk of the Victorians, instead sturdy textiles like cotton were used. Layering had also become a thing of the past, outfits were now often simple one pieces.
The Great depression occured in the 1930s and it left many families destitute. Children's clothing was handmade and sturdy fabrics like denim were favoured; "flour sack" dresses also became common place.
By the 1940s, many families had recovered from the depression but WW2 and rationing still meant that clothing had to be handmade with what was available. Many magazines at the time included simple patterns and any fabric was used even old curtains.
The 1950s are defined by the baby boom. Lots more children around increased demand for children's clothing and for a majority of families, life and finances improved after the war therefore they had money to spend. This lead to mass-manufacture of clothing using synthetic fibres..Young girls fashions were increasingly feminine:full skirt dresses, similar to their mothers, with bows and other hair accessories.
Boys' clothing became sturdier to allow for increased physical activity as the government of many countries began to mandate compulsory phys ed due to high levels of poor fitness exposed by the draft.
