Ok so i have decided to assign a LotR/the Hobbit character to each day of the week, based on the first letter of their name. (This idea came to me from a reblog from @blairsanne on one of my posts about fili, with a tag that said “fili friday”) and i will be celebrating them on each day of the week
The days are as follows:
Merry Monday (or Meriadoc Monday)
Tauriel Tuesday
Witch-King Wednesday
Thorin Thursday
Fili Friday
Smeagol Saturday
And Samwise Sunday
You could also have Frodo Friday or Theoden Tuesday or Sauron Saturday or anything else i’m too stupid to think of. I’m gonna do one of these for PotC characters in a bit :D and i might also assign characters to months too, such as Aragorn August or Arwen April or Saruman September or Nori November or Deagol December or Dori December or Dwalin December (idk i’m just thinking of these on the spot lol)

Marriage of Convenience - Chapter 1
Happy Fili Friday! In honor of this wonderful day, I’m going to start posting my first ever Hobbit fanfic on here. Enjoy a little Figrid! This can also be found on AO3 if you’d like to read the entire thing all at once. Please leave me some comments. They help support my fragile writer’s ego. Happy reading!
Story Summary:
Two years after The Battle, pressure mounts for Fili to marry to help secure Erebor's stability. In Dale, Sigrid is being pressured to marry as well. Faced with a series of horrible suitors, the two friends hatch a plan to avoid unhappy marriages - marry each other. The only problem is everyone thinks they're already madly in love. After all, no dwarf would ever willingly pick a human otherwise.
Chapter 1
The first time Fili woke, he wasn’t sure he was awake. Everything hurt. He could feel someone wrapping something around his leg. Excruciating pain lanced up his limb and into his back. He tried to protest, tried to raise his hands but he hurt too much. All he could really move were his eyes. Nearby, towards his feet, he could see his uncle laying on his own cot as healers moved around him, Oin shouted orders for more bandages and hot water and needles and salves. Thorin, hands shaking in his own pain, carefully braided Bilbo’s hair.
Fili tried to protest. Thorin shouldn’t be putting those braids in their burglar’s hair until he was better and they could have a proper ceremony, not until his amad had arrived at least. Dis would be furious to know she’d gained a brother-in-law before she made it to Erebor. And since when had Thorin planned to even propose to Bilbo? He’d known they were close but hadn’t realized they were that close, let alone courting and engaged.
“Smart to have someone immune to gold lust on the throne, even if it is just a consort,” someone murmured nearby.
A marriage of state then, of convenience, not of love.
Fili gagged at the notion.
Someone shouted by his head, calling for something he thought he recognized but couldn’t think of what it was. Everything was so odd, so muddled, so loud. The pain didn’t help. Thorin was finishing the braids in Bilbo’s hair and his hands dropped, exhausted as the King Under the Mountain fell unconscious.
A cup met his lips and he drank reflexively. His throat burned with the effort. He dropped back into oblivion again.
~*~*~*~
The next time Fili opened his eyes, he wasn’t in nearly the same amount of pain. He could feel his hand was loosely wrapped around something and what he thought were two hands kept his fingers in place. He blinked his eyes open slowly, fighting against the dim light of the room. His brother’s sleeping face greeted him.
“Kili?” he asked, voice coming out a rasp. His fingers tightened around what he held, realizing it was his baby brother’s hand.
“He lives.”
Fili looked up, toward the voice. The redheaded elf captain sat at the head of the large bed he and his brother had been placed on. She was the one holding their hands together. What was her name? Kili had taken a liking to her and had mentioned her name more than once. He struggled to think of it.
“I am Tauriel,” the elf said, seemingly noticing his internal struggle. “It is good you are awake. I’ll send for your kin.” She released their hands and went to the door. Instinctively, Fili gripped his brother’s hand tighter. His hand ached at the attempt and dismay coursed through him at how feeble his grip felt even as he held on with all his might. The elf returned.
“How is he?” Fili asked, not looking away from his brother. A few small pink healing scars littered the skin he could see on the younger Durin and on himself. His throat closed up on the last word and he started to cough.
“Here, drink.” Something touched his lips and he obediently opened his mouth. Cool water dripped in and he swallowed reflexively. The amount was too small and he continued to cough until more water was given. Finally, after a few more additions, the coughing ceased.
“We will know more when he wakes laddy.”
Fili struggled to look around, his eyes finally finding Oin entering the room. The healer approached and started checking Fili over, patting and prodding and poking and searching under bandages.
“You’ve been out for almost a month,” Oin explained as he worked. “We weren’t sure you would wake. You have the elf lass here to thank for that. I don’t know as I would have been able to keep you three alive.”
“Three?” Fili asked.
“Aye, three,” Oin said. He looked up, nodding toward the doorway.
Fili followed his gaze and felt his throat constrict again, this time for an entirely different reason. “Uncle Thorin,” he managed to choke out past the lump.
Thorin Oakenshield leaned heavily on a cane in the doorway. He wore clothes similar to what he’d traveled in, minus his armor, just shirt, tunic, and trousers. His crown, any and all finery for that matter, was absent. The only things of any value he wore were the silver beads in his hair and a single, unadorned, silver ring on his left hand.
“You had us worried, Fili,” Thorin said.
“Sorry,” he croaked. He felt so tired but he didn’t dare take his eyes away from his uncle or his little brother but he had to ask. “The others?”
“All survived,” he said. “You and Kili are the worst.”
“Bilbo?” he had to ask, to make sure the figure he’d seen having marriage braids put in his hair wasn’t a figment of his imagination, brought on by blood loss and whatever mess of medications they’d poured into him.
“Here, Fili. I’m here.” Thorin stepped aside to let the hobbit into the room, his hand instinctively going to rest on the smaller male’s shoulder. Bilbo didn’t even flinch at the contact and Fili marveled a moment. To think he could forgive his uncle and trust him so easily after Thorin had threatened his life.
“Alright, you’ve seen him awake,” Oin said. “Go tell the others while he gets back to sleep. He needs rest. Get some willow bark tea.”
“Yes, Master Oin.” Fili glanced toward the foot of the beds where the voice came from to find a dwarrowdam, probably a bit younger than Kili.
“Drink up lad and sleep,” Oin ordered. “Hopefully the next time you wake your brother will have woken too. You give us more hope.” The old healer helped him sit up enough that he could sip at the bitter tea. Sleep drew him away before he could finish the cup. He dreamed of dragon fire and orcs. Gold and death.
~*~*~*~
The next time he woke, he still held Kili’s hand, this time without assistance from the elf who still sat near their bed, now to the side besides his little brother. Like last time, he first asked after his brother in a croak.
“He woke yesterday,” Tauriel said, a fond smile on her face as she gazed at Kili. “You will both recover from your wounds though it may take a while.”
Fili breathed a sigh of relief and submitted to more nasty tasting teas Oin gave him when the healer arrived. He slept again.
~*~*~*~
He drifted in and out of consciousness for what he was told was the next few weeks. Each time he did, he felt stronger. He started to wake more naturally instead of when the teas and medicines wore off, leaving him in pain. That lessened too, leaving him feeling more willing to try to move on his own. Unfortunately, he never woke when his brother did and he was left yearning to see Kili awake.
It was some time later when Kili’s movements woke him. He’d been dreaming about riding down a river in that barrel that had smelled so strongly of apples when suddenly his hand was shaken violently. He startled slightly, coming to faster than he had in a while. He looked to the side to see his brother reaching his hand into Tauriel’s hair and pulling her down for a kiss.
Feeling generous and just happy to see his little brother awake, Fili gave them a moment of loving contact before saying, “Better not let Uncle catch you.” He snickered as they jumped apart. If they moved that fast at his voice, they’d probably kill themselves trying to seem innocent if Thorin caught them.
“Fili!” Kili gasped and turned where he lay. He wrapped his arms around Fili who returned the hug with just as much enthusiasm. They both cringed when aching, healing wounds made themselves known at the contact. Fili noticed Tauriel head toward the door, presumably to inform someone that they were awake as always happened when he woke.
“It’s good to see you awake Kee,” he said, shifting so their foreheads touched. “Although I’d rather not wake up to the sight of you kissing someone. Couldn’t you let me sleep?”
“Loosen your grip then,” Kili retorted, “or you could just not watch.” He turned his eyes back up to Tauriel as she retook her seat, a grin tugging at his lips. “You’re going to have to get used to the idea though Brother.”
Fili shuddered in mock horror. “Please,” he begged, “don’t make me watch my little brother kiss anyone. The very idea is unbearable.”
Kili laughed and then winced, his ribs straining.
Thorin entered the room with Oin and Bilbo. Fili tried not to flinch at the sight of the marriage braids in his uncle’s and the hobbit’s hair.
Oin started poking and prodding at him before he could start to feel ill at the sight. The process was routine now and Fili was even able to carefully push himself into a sitting position this time to make it easier for Oin to check the wound on his back, the one that should have killed him. The healer then moved the blankets aside to check his broken leg, loosening the splints.
Once Oin had checked him over and Kili as well, he declared, “They’ll both recover though Fili my limp for a long time, possibly forever. Certainly when the weather is poor.” His landing after Azog had thrown him from the tower had broken his leg and done something to the way it sat in the joint with his hip. He would possibly experience pain there every day for the rest of his life.
A ragged cheer erupted from those in the room. And Fili gripped his brother’s hand, glad to hear that the damage done to his innards wasn’t permanent. The infections had been fought off and all open wounds had all but closed entirely, leaving scars they’d carry forever, reminders to be thankful for the lives they still have ahead of them.
~*~*~*~
“This is not the life I wanted for you, my girl.”
“A life of plenty? Of full bellies and the knowledge that it will always be so? That we will not starve when the snows come?”
Bard’s lips quirked up at the corners at her display of optimism. “I had always hoped for that, strived for it. And I am so very, very glad for it to be true now.” His smile faded a little. “I never did, however, want for your life to be decided for political gain.”
A sinking feeling settled into the pit of her stomach. “What do you mean Da?”
“I am Girion’s only heir. Against my wishes and better judgment, I will be crowned as King of Dale. You and your siblings will be crowned as prince and princesses.”
“I’m aware of how lines of royalty work.”
“As a princess-” his grimace deepened at the word “-you will be expected to marry for political advantage Sigrid, and not for love.”
The bottom of her stomach plummeted further but somehow still managed to remain firmly in her torso. “I-I need air,” she stammered and ducked out of their home and headed for the slopes around the Lonely Mountain.
~*~*~*~
“You jest,” Fili said, trying to laugh off the situation.
Thorin flinched. “Fili, it’s been a year since you recovered. The mountain is being rebuilt. More and more of our people return to the mountain each week. We must look to the future of our people now.”
“How does this affect our people?” Fili demanded. “It’s my personal life.”
“We must create strong political ties with other nations. The easiest way to do so is through marriage.”
File bristled. “You may have been willing to marry for political reasons,” he growled and ignored the way Thorin and Bilbo both winced and glanced at each other furtively, “but I am not. You’ve got ties with the Shire,” he nodded at his uncle’s husband who is the grandson to the ruling Thain of the green country to the west, “and to the elves in Mirkwood through Kili’s engagement to Tauriel. We have Dain and the Iron Hills to the east and those that remain in the Blue Mountains. What more do you want?”
“We have alliances, aye,” Balin said, voice apologetic but matter-of-fact, “but if we are to survive until trade routes are established, we will need as many ties with other kingdoms as we can. The strongest alliances would be created through your marriage.”
“Amad,” Fili said almost pleadingly, looking to his mother who stood to the side of her brother, a scowl on her normally serene face.
“I am sorry Fili,” she said and looked at her feet. Resignation and sorrow rang in her voice. He found no comfort there. “If you had found your One, maybe things would be different but as it stands, we must secure Erebor’s safety.”
Fili didn’t bother responding. Taking up his cane, he turned and left the council room, slamming the door behind him. He would seek out his brother but Kili was off with Tauriel, working with Dori and Ori and the visiting delegation from Mirkwood to find ways to meld traditions from both cultures into a single courtship and wedding. He didn't want to dim his little brother’s happiness with his own grouchy mood.
He’d go to the training grounds if he could but his leg still troubled him greatly. Oin said it was healing better than he had dared hope but that the recovery would still take time. He wouldn’t be able to fight properly for some time yet. He still did what he could but actually sparring with someone, especially with someone that would challenge his skills like Dwalin did, was still out of the question. With rain on the horizon, he hurt even more than normal.
Fili returned to his rooms, grabbed the new travel fiddle he’d had made once a proper craftsman had returned to the mountain, and left the stone walls around him, heading up the slopes to find solitude while he played until his frustrations ceased and he could think clearer. Maybe then he’d be able to find an alternative that his uncle and his advisors had not seen.
The hike up and around the side of the mountain to a secluded area took him longer than it normally would have. Between being thrown off balance by the fiddle case across his back and struggling with his aching leg, the sun was high in the sky. He leaned his cane against the rocks and set his instrument aside. He’d rest before he started to play. He paced, limping heavily without his cursed cane, trying to think of a way around the prospect of an arranged marriage.
“A political marriage is the only way to make the kingdom strong,” he grumbled under his breath. He turned to look at the mountain and he felt his anger grow.
“Not bloody likely!” he shouted and then jumped as a second voice joined him in the same words. He whirled. A young woman’s head appeared above a grouping of rocks to stare at him. She looked familiar.
“Prince Fili?” she asked, eyes wide in shock. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were here.”
He remembered her now. He hadn’t seen her for a few months but he remembered. “Lady Sigrid,” he said. “What are you doing here?” He picked his cane back up and the case to round the rocks to where she was. Her coat was laid out on the ground where she’d been apparently sitting on it out of his view.
She heaved a sigh as she motioned for him to join her. He did so, leaning his fiddle on the rock gently and setting his cane next to him once he was settled. She sat next to him when he patted the spot on her coat he’d left for her.
“Avoiding politics,” she told him once settled.
“Political woes seem to be going around,” he muttered as he leaned back on his hands and stretched his aching leg out in front of him, trying to take pressure off the joint at his hip. “Which do you face?”
She grimaced. “Expectations for a royal wedding.”
“You too, huh?” he asked and shifted, trying to find a better way to situate his leg.
She crossed her legs in front of her, leaned forward, set her elbow on her knee, and propped her chin in her open palm. “Is King Thorin telling you to marry as well?” she asked looking slightly up at him from her bent position.
“As a newly reestablished kingdom, it’s expected for us to create strong ties with all peoples of Middle Earth. Kili has Tauriel, Uncle has his Hobbit consort, Amad had my father who was a dwarf of the Blue Mountains, and we have kin in the dwarrow of the Iron Hills. All we need now is a solid alliance with men.”
“I thought you had that with the alliance written up with my father and the people of Dale.”
“Written alliances aren’t as strong as marital,” Fili said.
They heaved simultaneous sighs. “Being royal isn’t any fun,” Sigrid said. “Ever since Da slew that dragon and the battle ended he’s been worked to the bone and people now expect so much from my brother, sister, and me. I miss being a bargeman’s daughter, poor though we were.”
Fili nodded. “There are days I miss being a jeweler and musician,” he admitted. “Times were slimmer then but it was honest work and it was easier being a prince in name and nothing more.” They stared at the distance in comfortable but brooding silence for a time before Sigrid threw up her hands.
“I’m tired of thinking about it,” she said. “You say you were a musician before you retook the mountain. Will you play?” she nodded towards his fiddle.
Fili glanced at the case now regretting not grabbing one of the finer instruments. He shrugged though. He’d come up here to play to clear his head. Maybe having an audience would help him remember his time in the Blue Mountains. Pulling the instrument out, he started tuning it. “Any requests?”
Sigrid shook her head. “Do you have perfect pitch?” she asked as she watched him.
He tested the strings and adjusted just a little more. “Yes,” he said. “Do you play an instrument?”
“No,” she said, “but my father used to sing all the time. It’s odd to think of a bargeman knowing musical theory but he does.”
Fili smiled and then drew the bow across the strings. Happy with what he heard he started playing from his seated position. He should stand, he knew, but he just didn't want to deal with the pain in his leg right then. Instead, he concentrated on the piece he played, a drinking song from Ered Luin. Most of what he knew was more fit for taverns over great halls of a recovered kingdom so he rarely played outside of his own rooms these days and he found himself happy to be playing for someone. Sigrid smiled and listened, clapping her hands to the beat for certain songs.
“Oh! I know this one!” she said as he started the intro to a third song.
“Then you should sing,” he said, grinning.
So Sigrid sang the silly song of a young man that went to sea only to fall in love with a mermaid with green hair and pale blue skin on his first voyage. Fili joined in on the chorus. When the song ended, he set his violin aside and applauded her even as she laughed and applauded him.
“Your father isn’t the only one in your family that can sing,” he said. “That was lovely.”
A charming blush rose in her cheeks as she gazed at her lap. “Thank you,” she murmured. “It was nice hearing you play. You’re very good.”
Fili snorted. “I’m well enough,” he said. “It brought in extra coin to play at taverns and inns. Kili plays too and he sings better than I do. I haven’t played with him in a while. I don’t know if he still does.”
“I’m glad you still do,” Sigrid said. “That was fun.” She stretched her arms above her head and he heard faint cracking sounds race up her back. “Thanks. I needed something fun today.”
He grinned at her. “You’re welcome.” They stared back at the view again, Fili keeping his fiddle on his lap, wondering if he should play something more when a raven dropped to the rocks next to them and pecked at his good leg and squawked at him. He sighed. “Fun time’s over,” he said. “I’m being summoned.” He looked at the bird. “Let him know I’m on my way down but it will take a while. Leg and all.” The bird took off as Fili started packing up his fiddle. As he stiffly rose to his feet, Sigrid stood as well and offered a polite smile as she gathered up her coat, shaking the dirt and dust off it.
“I’m glad I ran into you today,” she said.
“Me too,” he said. “I hope to see you again soon. Good luck with your suitors.”
She rubbed a hand down her face. “I wish you hadn’t reminded me,” she groused but her lips twitched in a half smile. “Good luck your highness,” she said, dipping into a curtsy.
He bowed and bid her farewell, heading back toward the path he’d originally climbed, leaning heavily on his cane. By the time he reached the road to Erebor pain was lancing up his leg and spine. He managed to flag down a cart and get a ride into the city on the back.

Happy Fili Friday everyone!
Fun fact, this is one of my first posts I made on my Twitter. Made all the way back in March, and I’ve changed my technique quite a bit since back then.

The Millionth Time that Thorin Regretted Listening to Kili
“Mahal, this is never going to happen,” Kíli groaned.
“What?”
Thorin looked at his nephew. Kíli was always rambling about something or other, but that was usually to his brother, and Fíli was gathering firewood for the night with Tullaina (What? Thorin wasn’t above putting them together in every situation in the hope they’d confess!). Which meant that whatever Kíli was talking about was meant for Thorin. Which meant that Thorin should probably start paying attention.
“... mean, it’s taking forever, do you think they’ll ever confess?”
Thorin knew of only two people who’s confessing Kíli could be obsessing over.
“Fíli and Tullaina?”
“Who else? It’s ridiculous, they’ve been pining for years. I’m honestly not sure if it’ll ever happen at this point.”
“What’s not happening?” Bofur had snuck up behind them.
“Fíli and Tullaina are never gonna tell each other their feelings.” Thorin informed him.
“Ah, yes. That lad’s not gutsy enough to do it and the lass is too scared he doesn’t like her back.”
Kíli nodded, “Exactly.”
Bofur rubbed his hands together. “What if we make the wait a little more interesting?”
Nori suddenly appeared. “I sense a bet coming on?”
Bofur nodded. “Yes! I think we should start a pool on when Fíli will tell Tullaina he likes her, cause let’s face it, Tullaina will never tell him.”
“Hey!” Kíli exclaimed, “Tullaina would totally tell him!”
All six dwarves clustered around him at this point looked skeptical.
“Fine,” Kíli sighed,” you’re right. Tullaina wouldn’t tell him.”
Bofur clapped his hands together.
“Alrighty, then! Who wants in?”
Kíli, Thorin, Nori, Dwalin, Gloin, and Balin all raised their hands.
“Great!” said Bofur.
“Now, who wants which day?”
When Tullaina and Fíli returned to the clearing, they were greeted by a cacophony of noise that died down the minute Nori caught sight of them and punched Dwalin, causing a chain reaction that shut everyone up.
“... What’s going on?” Tullaina asked.
“Nothing, Tulls, nothing at all!” Kíli sing-songed, trying so desperately to look innocent and absolutely failing.
Tullaina raised an eyebrow, but brushed past him to put down the firewood, shaking her head at all the other dwarves also failing to look innocent. If only she knew what it was about.
Many Years Later, in Erebor
The doors to the small room where the company was eating dinner flew open with a bang. Kíli jumped, spilling ale all over himself in surprise, which set the whole table laughing. Thorin was the only person to remember Ori, the flinger of the doors, who was standing there with such an expression of shock that as each dwarf noticed him they quickly stopped laughing at the soaked Kíli.
Once everyone was looking at him, Ori burst out,
“Fíli just told Tullaina he’s in love with her!”
Kíli shot out of his seat.
“Mahal, it’s Monday, innit? Who bet on Monday?”
“I had Friday.” Thorin looked extremely disappointed.
Nori looked even more morose. “Sunday.”
Bofur jumped out of his chair. “YES!! I had Monday! Hand over those coins, everyone!”
Everyone handed him the coins he was owed, some surrendering the money good-naturedly, while others (*cough* Nori *cough*) had to be encouraged with a kingly glare from Thorin.
Kíli sighed as he sat back down.
“Dammit, Fíli, you couldn’t have waited one more day,” he muttered.
Gloin’s head snapped up. “You didn’t have Tuesday!”
“Ummmmm, yeah I did!”
“I had Tuesday,” Bombur interjected.
“But it’s my favorite day of the week, I wouldn’t have let any of you fools take it!” Gloin’s hand was hovering close to his axe.
“I had Tuesday!”
“No, me!”
“Did you not clearly hear me say, ‘I have Tuesday,” months ago?!”
“NO, because you neve-”
“ENOUGH!!!” Thorin slammed his fists down on the table.
“It does not matter which one of you had Tuesday, because today is Monday, and we all know that Bofur had Monday, so Bofur won. Is that clear?”
Kíli sighed, “Fine,” and slumped back into his chair.
Which was right when the doors swung open again, revealing a beaming Fíli and Tullaina, hand in hand.
“We heard shouting.” Fíli said.
“Yeah, what in Mahal’s name was going on?” Tullaina exclaimed.
Each dwarf looked at her, then at each other, and then back at her.
“Nothing, Tullaina!” twelve dwarves chorused, perfectly in unison.

Imagine saving Fili from drowning and giving him hands-only CPR (you would’ve don’t rescue breaths, but he responded before you could finish the first set of compressions). And then Thorin demands to know how you brought someone back from the dead. (Wikipedia tells me that CPR was invented in 1956, and middle-earth is, well, medieval, so they probably don’t have it yet)
 I’m so sorry this took ages for me to respond to! Hopefully you like it, I’m sorry if it’s not what you wanted.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were all gathering together after escaping Mirkwood, making sure everyone was okay and ready to get going again.
You looked over to see Kili sit down on a rock, trying to make it seem like he was okay but you could see the pain on his face. You quickly walked over to try and help him, Kili tried to make you leave but you weren’t having any of it.
“How bad is it?” You asked him
“Not bad, you don’t need to worry about it,” Kili responded a bit too quickly. You tilted your head as if to say ‘really?’ Kili looked away from you, to look at the ground. He obviously didn’t want to bother anyone over this. You let out a small sigh and looked around for Fili, only to not find him.
“Where is your brother?” You asked Kili
“You don’t need to get him, Y/n.” He responded.
“No, like where is he? I can’t find him.” You spoke again.
Kili raised a brow, then looked around as well. He realized you weren’t joking, and he felt his heart drop a little. He mumbled an ‘I don’t know’, then tried to get up.
“No, no stay put. I’ll find him.” You gently pushed Kili to sit back down, giving him a reassuring smile. He wanted to protest but decided not to.
You walked down to the shore of the river and looked around, hoping he was just washing off or something where you couldn’t see him, though, that didn’t make any sense.
The longer you looked, the more dread you felt.
“Y/n, what are you doing?” Thorin spoke, walking up behind you.
You only managed to mumble Fili’s name before you spotted his blonde hair under the water. You let out a loud gasp and quickly went back into the water, leaving Thorin confused, though it didn't take long for him to see what you saw.
You wasted no time getting to Fili, luckily the current wasn’t strong down on this part of the river, or else you would've had a lot more trouble getting him. Once you got a firm grip on him, you pulled him above the water. Then you began pulling him to shore, trying your best to stay above the water.
The dwarves helped you pull Fili onto land, and you quickly got into position to do CPR. You didn’t bother checking the pulse, you didn’t want to waste any time trying to save him.
You only had down about 4 chest compressions before Fili responded, and he immediately started coughing up the water in his lungs. You let out a big sigh of relief before pushing him on his side so he could get all the water out. You rubbed Fili’s back, trying to soothe him. You could only imagine how much this would suck, having water in your lungs then violently coughing it out doesn’t sound fun.
After he started calming down, Thorin spoke.
“How did you do that?” He said
“What?”
“He wasn’t responding before, how did you save him?” Thorin’s voice was firm, but he obviously wasn’t trying to sound rude. After all, you just saved his nephew's life.
“I did CPR.” The response was simple, you didn’t know that they didn’t understand what that was.
“CPR?”
“Uh, yeah. It’s what you do when someone nearly drowns. The pressure from my hands pushing on his lungs forces the water to come out from his lungs. You also would give him mouth to mouth- but luckily Fili responded pretty quickly.” You replied.
“Mouth to mouth?” Fili spoke
You felt heat rush to your cheeks before responding, “Yeah, it’s like giving you my own air, so that you can breathe.”
“Well, you still want to give me that kiss of life?” Fili was straight back to being cheeky. I hit his art in a joking manner, trying to hide my embarrassment.
And before anyone could say anything else, our attention was turned to a man pointing a bow at us.
~~~~~~~~
I hope you like it! It’s a bit short, but I hope it’s not trash 😅 Happy Fili Friday!

For the Night
Fili X Fem!Reader
A/N: It’s 2k words long, you cannot escape me and my love for one (1) blond dwarf. I won’t let you. Happy Fili Friday! - Nemo
Summary: Fili starts acting like a love sick fool when he sees the keeper of an inn the Company is contemplating staying at for the night. His attention is only lessened when a small child started attaching itself to the keeper’s leg. But nevertheless, the Company stay the night - which is long enough for Fili to get answers out of the infatuating keeper.

The Company was tired. Tired as hell.
They hadn’t had a safe place to rest for a couple weeks now, and after their stop at Bag-end to get Bilbo, the bar for ‘comfort’ and ‘safe’ just about doubled. Fili could tell everyone wanted to sleep in a bed just once rather than on the ground again. In fact everyone knew that.
The town ahead was promising, seeing as Fili could tell there were people around, and that it still wasn’t too busy.
The reason they hadn’t stopped before was how reluctant other places were to housing so many Dwarves. The Company had yet to find a place that was impartial to Dwarves - for Hobbit’s and Wizards, apparently it was fine - and therefore they’d been sleeping on the road, or on the outskirts of towns.
“Alright, some of us will go into town to try and see if there’s a place to stay, the rest of you will stay here.” Thorin started, turning to the Company as they settled on the side of the road. “Dwalin is with me, Balin can go on his own. Fili, take Kili and go search too - just do not cause trouble.”
“Aye Uncle, we want a warm bed for once as much as everyone else.” Kili started, flinging an arm over Fili’s shoulder. “We’ll be like little angels!”
“Sure you will.” With that Thorin set off, Dwalin in tow while Balin had already started off into town before Thorin had even asked him to. Fili and Kili followed after, babbling to themselves about anything and everything.
----------
“Beat it, shorties!”
That was the second prospective accommodation that they'd been thrown out of.
“People aren’t nice.” Kili said, adjusting his jacket as he glared back at the closed door. “Mahal, all we wanted was a place to stay.”
“We just have to keep trying Kee, don’t worry.”
“You Dwarves lookin’ for a place to stay?” an elderly man said, looking at the brothers from across the street. Fili shared a look with Kili before nodding. “Try up on the north hill. There’s an Inn there run by a Dwarrow. Might have better luck there.”
“Sir, thank you.” Fili said, nodding at the man before heading off to find the Inn.
----------
The place was quaint. Simple. Still homey. Fili loved it.
“It’s so quiet.” Kili said, quietly mumbling to his brother. “Maybe no one lives here and the townsfolk just keep the door unlocked.”
It was true, the Inn was very quiet. There wasn’t even another person there, and there was no noise. The only reason it looked lived in was because of the fire going on their left and the fact that everything was so clean.
“Doubt that.” Fili stepped forward, “Hello?” He called, and almost instantly they got an answer.
“Yes?” A voice said behind them. There in the doorway was the Dwarrowdam, an armful of chopped wood in her arms. “I’m sorry, I hope you haven't been waiting long.”
Fili couldn’t answer. He was in awe. She was beautiful. Sure, he hadn’t seen many Dwarrowdams in his life, he’d mostly just heard descriptions of them. But she surpassed any story description. Just by looking at her he could tell she was his One.
“Fee.” Kili said, elbowing Fili in the ribs, a smirk lathered over his face. Kili knew what happened to Fili, but like hell he’d let an opportunity pass. “The lass asked you a question.”
“Uhm, no. We weren’t waiting long at all!” Fili said, managing to gather his voice back, even if it was a bit high-pitched. She giggled at him, moving away from the doorway and further into the Inn.
“I’m afraid, Sir, that wasn’t my question.”
“Oh, sorry then. Um, what was the question?” Fili asked, following her as she started piling the wood near the fire.
“‘How can I help you?’” She repeated, smiling up at Fili.
His heart stopped.
She’d kill him at this rate.
“We need a place to stay.” he said, surprised at how easily he spoke, but he was sure it didn’t sound as nice as he thought it did. “No other place would take us because we are Dwarves and an older man said to come here because you run this Inn and we’d have a better chance asking for help here.”
“You and, I’m guessing, your brother needs to stay?”
“Yes.” Kili said, finally deciding to save Fili from any further ramblings. “But it’s not just us. There are eleven other Dwarves, and a Hobbit, and a Human.” She nodded, finishing stacking the wood, and stood up while wiping her hands on her apron.
“You’re asking for rooms for fifteen?” They nodded, and she hummed. “Well, I could use the business, but I’m afraid some of you might have to share a little more than a room.”
“That’s okay!” Fili started, “We have our own sleeping packs, so all we’d need is the room to set them up.”
“Then you’re welcome to stay.” she said, “My name’s (y/n).”
“I’m Kili, this is Fili -” Kili started then Fili joined, “-at your service.”
“Do you greet everyone new like that?” she said, letting out a sort of laugh.
“Amad,” a small voice then said, along with it came a small head from what could be a kitchen, “When is dinner?”
----------
“‘Amad’, that’s what the child said to her. She is a mother!” Fili said, and all Kili could do was roll his eyes.
“Fili, you’ve mentioned this at least five times. I’m now asking you to cease and desist.” Thorin said, managing to make his grumbling heard from all the way at the front of the group.
After the brothers had gathered Thorin, Dwalin and Balin, and shared the exciting news of a place to stay, Fili then proceeded to tell the story of the Innkeeper - and her apparent child.
“It’s a disaster Uncle.” Fili said, making his way up to Thorin. “I felt it the moment I saw her, she is my One, but she is obviously with another since she has a child! How could this happen?”
“Have you thought to ask her about it, or are you fixated on the dream of love at first sight and the need to wed her even though you’ve spoken only once?”
“Uncle,” Fili whined, “Don’t be so pessimistic!”
----------
“Amad, why are you cooking so much?”
“Because there are people staying over.”
“Like a sleepover?”
“A bit like that, yes. But they’re paying us to stay here, so we’ll look after them.” (y/n) looked down at the dwarfling at her feet. He was happily helping her and busying himself by dragging out a giant pot from the cupboard, and she was grateful he was so willing to give her a hand.
“You don’t usually make people pay you if you have a sleepover, do you?”
“No, Amrum, you do not.” She laughed, finishing chopping up the last potato. She then took the pot Amram was dragging, and placed it on the stove. She looked back at the boy. “You think you can do one more job for me before dinner?”
“Of course Amad! Anything for dinner.”
“Go fetch a couple more pieces of wood from outside, only two or three.” He nodded, already marching his way out the kitchen. “And don’t overload yourself again!”
“I won’t Amad!”
----------
“Look! There’s the Dwarfling!” Fili said, hitting Thorin’s shoulder and pointing at the boy running back inside the Inn, his arms full of wood.
“We get it, Fili. There is a child.” Thorin said, trudging his way up to the Inn.
The entire Company practically groaned at the warmth that the Inn emitted. They hadn’t even gone inside yet and they were practically melting where they stood.
After mumbling to themselves about how much they liked this already, they made their way inside.
“You made it back.” (y/n) said, coming from the doorway to the kitchen to greet them all. She took a look at everyone, nodding. “All the rooms are upstairs. They’re ready for you. You can take your pick of whichever you’d like.”
They all made their thanks, then teatered off to the rooms. Fili stayed behind, eyeing (y/n) as if he wanted to say something, but she took off after the others, obviously forgetting something.
“Dinner is in half an hour! If you’re late you miss out!” she called up the stairs, and unceremonial cheers came back down at her. She turned back, facing Fili. “Hi.”
“Hey.”
A beat of silence came, a smile creeped on (y/n)’s face, and soon they both let out a laugh.
“Sorry - I just… The child?” Fili said, gesturing around the room. She nodded, walking into the kitchen. Fili took that as a note to follow.
“Amrum, please get off the countertop.” She said, and Fili locked eyes with the child - of which was eating off a plate while sitting on the countertop.
“It’s the Dwarf.” Amram said, starting to climb off the counter, “You came before. You’re here for the sleepover.”
Fili kept looking at the boy, nodding, before looking over at (y/n) - she’d gone to cut some meat. Fili didn’t notice how hungry he was until just now.
“You want some of my bread? I’ve eaten some of it, but I haven’t licked the butter off.” Amrum offered, and it almost pained Fili to decline - his eyes were so wide, and he was very cute and Fili was hungry.
----------
“I can’t believe he likes you that much.” (y/n) said, her voice low and very quiet.
Amrun had fallen asleep on Fili a little over fifteen minutes ago - around the time the others of the Company dispersed to their warm rooms and beds with real pillows - and had yet to wake up. Fili felt his chest both swell and tighten.
Swell because this was a child, one he felt he needed to protect, and tighten because it wasn’t his, and he had a father already. At least Fili thought he did.
“I haven’t seen him like that with anyone besides me since his parents died.”
“What?” Fili said, frowning at (y/n) while slightly tightening his hold around the Dwarfling. “He calls you Amad, aren’t you his mother?” She shook her head.
“No, I’m his Aunt, but he’s only really known me as a mother. He was really young when my brother and sister-in-law died.”
She had started fiddling with the hem of her apron.
“You miss them, don’t you?” Fili said, even though he already knew the answer.
“Yeah,” she breathed, “This place was theirs too. Since they’re been gone it’s just been me and Amrum. It’s not easy.”
“I can imagine. But this lad seems like he behaves.”
“Most of the time.” She laughed, “You should see him when there’s no one around, it’s like he has a twin with how much mischief he gets up to.”
----------
“Will you come back Fee?” Amrum asked, looking up at the blond whose arms he was still being carried in.
(y/n) and Fili shared a look. Last night they had a talk. It wasn’t little, but it wasn’t all-bearing either. It was informative, and it did enlighten (y/n) to why all these Dwarves, a Hobbit and a Human were traveling together.
“How about we wait and see Amrum?” She said, holding out her hand for Amrum to take as Fili set him to the ground. “They all could be away for months yet, we’ll have to be patient.” Amrum looked down, kicking the dirt. He obviously wasn’t looking forward to his new friends leaving.
“Here,” Fili said, pulling out a dagger from his coat, “As a promise. When I get back, you’ll be throwing that with the precision of an eagle hunting it’s meal.” Fili held out the dagger to Amrum.
Amrum looked up at (y/n), she shook her head, but her eyes and the light smile on her lips told them it was okay. The Dwarfling took the dagger, holding it both hands with wide eyes.
“Wow. You’re really letting me keep it?”
“Sure thing kid. Just don’t cut yourself, and look after your Amad.”

Jar for Dwalin, please!
I love how everyone comes out in droves for Dwalin on Mystical Magical Friday. It’s the best.
The Prompt: Wink
The company had decided to meet up at a local tavern for drinks. You were more than happy to join them, feeling like it had been so long since you all had been together.
The night started out normally enough. Everyone grabbed a drink and then you all gathered around a large table and shared old stories, laughing together and generally having a good time.
Eventually though, everyone had broken into smaller groups and settled in different parts of the tavern. You had found yourself at a small table against the wall with Dwalin sat across from you. There wasn’t a lot of conversation flowing between you two, there never had been, but you were comfortable together. You always had been. You were about to stand up and go grab another round for the pair of you, but you were stopped by Bofur placing two full mugs in front of you, “Thought I’d save you the hassle.” You thanked him and he went to walk off, but not before he turned to Dwalin and winked at him. Dwalin grumbled under his breath as he took a long sip of his ale.
It was some time later, when your mugs were empty again, that Fili and Kili stumbled over to you. Kili leaned against Dwalin’s shoulder, “Mister Dwalin, haven’t seen you most of the night.” He glanced over at you the turned back to Dwalin and spoke in an exaggerated whisper, “Think I know why.” Then he winked. Dwalin grumbled as he shoved the young dwarf off his arm.
Fili laughed as he caught his brother, “Oh we can take the hint.” Then he winked at Dwalin and dragged his brother away.
You tilted your head, “Alright, why does everyone keep winking at you?”
Dwalin stared at you, “What you mean?”
You huffed, “You know what I mean.” Dwalin growled as he looked over at the other members of the company, cursing them under his breath. You reached out and placed your hand over his, “I like you too.” Dwalin stared at you, his eyes wide. You nodded, your smile widening. Dwalin intertwined his fingers with yours, pulling your hand up and kissing your knuckles. You giggled, sending a wink his way.

A Career In Scolding Kings
A/N: this is kinda late, but I hope you all enjoy it all the same! I’d really appreciate it if you could leave a review or drop a reblog, but no pressure! Love you guys and Happy Fili Friday!!!
Summary: peace talks between Erebor and Mirkwood aren’t going well at all, and everyone is starting to lose their patience.
Rating: T
Translations:  kurduwë - my heart   amrâlimê - my love  mizimelûh - jewel of all jewels

Thranduil looks down his nose at the dwarven king. “If you recall, I have an army at your gates.”
“And if YOU recall,” Fili spits back, “I already gave you what payment you deserved. I consider myself a kinder and more levelheaded dwarf than my uncle was, but you are trying my patience.”
The queen reaches over the side of his throne and puts her hand in his. The young king turns to meet her eye, just briefly, and she shakes her head.
“Not very patient,” the Elvenking says, “if you need your halfling wife to hold you back and keep you from falling to the gold.”
The ‘halfling wife’ in question mumbles something, looking at her nails with a raised eyebrow. The dwarf king frowns at her. The elven one ignores her.
“I’m sure,” Fili says, “you’d also find it difficult to keep your patience if an opposing king were threatening your country with outright war. I might be above exacerbating these circumstances, but I’m not above asking you to leave my mountain.”
The Elvenking turns on his heel and storms out of the throne room, his hands empty. Fili slumps back in the throne. “Kili,” he says, “make sure they actually leave, won’t you?”
“They aren’t about to let Tauriel go home, are they,” the younger dwarf says sadly.
“It seems like it,” The king replies. “I’m sorry. I did my best.”
“’S not your fault,” Kili mumbles, following after the elves.
“Huh,” Cassia says, when they all have left, “I’ve half a mind to give that elf a piece of my mind! Coming into our home like that! It’s making peace talks all the harder!”
“Mmm,” Fili mumbles, “I’m sure you lecturing him like a child wouldn’t help, no matter how much he needs it.”
The hobbit crosses her arms grouchily. “I bet I could make a career out of scolding kings. I’d be good at it.”
Her husband nods absently, flipping through some papers, then frowns and looks up like he’d just remembered something. “Kurduwë,” he says, “what was that you mumbled when the elfking made a jibe about me and the goldsickness? You said something but I didn’t catch it.”
“Oh,” she blushes. “I said, 'at least he still has a wife’.”
“Cassia!”
“What?! I know it was a bit uncalled for, but I was mad! Besides, no one was meant to hear it!”
“Do you want to start another war? Mahal, lass, use your head!”
She crosses her arms. “We were all thinking it.”
“No, we weren’t! Do you always have to be so flippant? Don’t make jokes about those things.”
“He always ignores me but to insult me,” she snaps, “we can’t I insult back?”
“Because it’s STUPID, mizimelûh!”
“So? My role in this kingdom isn’t simply to make you babies and make sure you don’t go mad, which is what he and everyone else seems to think it is, so forgive me for being mildly upset!” She leaps up and storms off, but Fili doesn’t let her get far, grabbing her arm and spinning her back around.
She glares up at him, tears fighting to squeeze themselves out of her blue eyes. He sighs, all of his anger leaving him with the breath. “Don’t cry, amrâlimê,” he murmurs. She stomps her foot and covers her face with her hands.
“I’m not!” She sobs.
“Cassia,” he murmurs, pulling her into a hug.
“Do you think me stupid?” She asks.
“No, I don’t think you stupid,” he says comfortingly. “I think you impulsive and perhaps too fierce for you own good, but not stupid.”
“I’ll stay quiet next time,” she mumbles. “I don’t want to raise our baby in wartime.”
Fili places his hand on the gentle curve of her belly where their child has just begun their life. “Me neither, Cassia. But perhaps I overreacted.”
“You didn’t. I was wrong.”
He neither agrees nor disagrees, just hums softly and rubs her belly. “It upsets me just as much, the way so many of our Council speak down to you, as if the fact that you are not dwarrow makes your opinions and what you have to say invalid. It’s cruel and it hurts me, too. I suspect the Elvenking ignores you because something about you must remind him of his own wife. I’m sure he misses her very much, as I would miss you.”
“It’s been several centuries, though.”
“Time doesn’t heal all wounds, Cassia.”
“But it makes them easier to bear.” She pushes off from his chest to look up at him. “Don’t forget I have lost people, too.”
“I would never,” he says gently, wiping the tear tracks off her cheeks with his thumb. Her eyes and nose are still ruby red, as they always are after she cries. “But I know that were I to lose you, nothing in this world would seem quite right, and the sun would no longer shine for me, nor the birds sing, nor forge and flame ever bring me joy again. I can empathize with the elfking, even as he makes me angry.”
“Then you are a better person than me.”
“That is untrue,” he says. “You just pay more attention to your anger and let it out. I let it fester. That is not a good thing.”
“At least you don’t almost start wars.”
“You did not almost start a war, Cassia.”
“You certainly acted like I did.”
“I didn’t mean to. Truly. He just makes me so angry. I guess it bled over.”
“Did you see the way he looked down his nose at you?” She giggles, “when you asked him to lift the banishment on Tauriel?”
“I did. Oh, I hate that! It boils my blood! Like he’s thinking, 'my people were crafted by Eru Himself, while you lowly dwarves made from stone by a mere Vala’. You can tell he thinks of orcs and dwarves on around the same level, merely because his race is the firstborn, and we emerged later. If he knew anything of history, he would know Eru adopted us as His children, too.”
Cassia giggles.
“What?” Fili asks.
“Nothing, I just would very much enjoy the sight of you lecturing that pompous king on the intent of both Mahal and Eru.”
Fili bends down and kisses the tip of her nose. “I know you would enjoy that, but one of us has to keep our cool, and we both know it won’t be you and it definitely won’t be Kili.”
She laughs again. “Maybe it’ll hurry things up if I speak up,” she says.
“Let’s not test that,” her husband says.
She giggles again.
The next day turns out much the same, with Thranduil making rude jabs about the Durin Line’s penchant for goldsickness, and Fili struggling desperately to keep his patience. Cassia is slumped down in her own seat, struggling with morning sickness and wondering when this will all end, and on Fili’s other side, Kili is practically vibrating with the effort to keep his mouth shut.
“My uncle-” Fili starts.
“Your Uncle?” The elfking says derisively, “your uncle fell to the same sickness as his grandfather and father. He was weak.”
Kili makes an indignant noise in the back of his throat, and Fili, for all his Mahal-given patience, reaches his limit.
“At least he didn’t let his kingdom become infested with gigantic spiders!”
Cassia sits up straight in her seat, instantly forgetting her nausea. Kili snickers quietly, biting his lip to keep from full on cackling. He’ll be no help.
“Fili,” Balin starts.
“What was that?” Thranduil says.
“I said,” Fili replies, emboldened by his own indignation, “That at least he didn’t let his kingdom become infested with spiders.”
“But he led it to war.”
“I didn’t see you doing much to smooth that over, now did I? It takes two to start a war.”
The elfking opens his mouth for a cutting reply, but Cassia decides she’s had enough.
“Stop it!” She snaps, jumping to her feet. “I’ve had about enough of you two arguing!”
Fili shuts his mouth immediately. “Yes, ma'am,” he says.
“Is this what we’ve come to?” She snaps, stomping her foot, “arguing like children? If we can’t come to an agreement, then just shut your mouths!!!” She whirls on her husband and shakes her finger in his face. “Fili! I’m ashamed of you! You get bothered when I make comments no one hears, and then you turn around and do the same thing!”
“Sorry, kurduwë,” Fili says ashamedly. “That was wrong of me.”
“And Kili! Stop giggling and grow up! You’re acting like a dwarfling who just stole a cookie from the jar! Some advisor you are!”
Kili slides down in his chair beneath her scolding. “Sorry.”
“And you!” Cassia rounds on the elfking himself, all three feet and six inches of trembling fury. “Coming into our home to threaten us, as subtle as it may be, and speaking badly of the dead! Haven’t you done enough?”
“I—” Thranduil starts.
“I don’t want to hear it!” She snaps. “You all act like children!” She stomps her foot once more for good measure. “The only one in this room with some sense is Balin and no one’s even listening to him! You all should be ashamed! Ashamed!!! If I wanted to spend my time with a bunch of squabbling housewives I would have stayed in the Shire! Now! If you excuse me, I’m going to go be sick!”
She whirls on her heel and storms out.
“Why is she going to be sick?” Kili asks, “I didn’t think Thranduil’s voice was that nauseating.”
“It’s because of this baby your brother put inside me!” Cassia yells back. Fili’s ears immediately turn a brilliant shade of red as every pair of eyes in the room swivel to look at him.
.
The bedroom door opens with a creak of unoiled hinges, and Fili pauses halfway through to shake the door, looking up at the hinges. “Remind me to fix that,” he says absently.
Cassia, snuggled under the covers of their bed, grunts noncommittally.
Fili sighs, running a hand through his blond hair. “Mizimelûh,” he says, “are you still mad at me? Not that I don’t deserve it, of course.”
She looks up from her book. “Did you lot actually get anything done today after I left or was it merely more arguing?”
Fili sits down on the edge of the bed and starts to unbuckle his boots. “Well, you’ll be pleased to know that yes, we did come to something of an agreement.”
“What sort of agreement?”
“I agreed to give him some more of the treasure, and he agreed…” Fili pauses to pull off his boots, “…to help with the final stage of rebuilding Dale and return the items his people took from us when we were in his dungeons.”
“I wasn’t aware that was a point of contention,” she says.
“That was Kili’s idea, since the elfking still won’t lift the banishment on Tauriel. Thranduil reckons that since she disobeyed a direct order she still must be punished. I truly don’t understand the advantage of alienating one of his best warriors like that. Seems foolish.”
Cassia hums. “I agree. We could use her to infiltrate his kingdom if we really wanted to.”
Fili snorts at that. “Good idea. I’ll bring that up with her next time I see her. I’m sure it will go over swimmingly.”
She giggles. “At the very least, when she and Kili start having babies, imagine how useful very tall children would be in battle.”
“I never thought of that. The two of them better get busy. I have a need for very tall archers in my armies. Just in case.” Fili crawls over the bed and kisses Cassia and she responds happily. “Does that mean you forgive me?” he asks against her mouth.
“Yes.”
“Ah,” he says. “That’s good.” He rubs his hand over her belly. “Very good. You said yesterday you could make a career out of scolding kings, and I wholeheartedly agree.”
“Silly,” she giggles, “I’m a queen. It’s already my job!”

A/N: HAPPY FILI FRIDAY EVERYONE!!! Fili has now wormed his way into my heart and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m also trying to get into a habit of writing more often, so this story is the result of that :) Please like and reblog, I love it.
Pairing: Fili x Reader
Word count: 1,395
Warnings: None
Dialogue prompt: “If you do that again, I’ll throw you out that window you- what are you doing?” “Checking how high the drop is, see if it’s worth it.”
Ghivashel - treasure of all treasures; kurduwê - my heart
Summary: You love Fili, and he doesn’t know until you and Kili have an unexpected conversation.
Tumblr media
Fili Durin. King Thorin’s heir to the throne of Erebor, the Golden Prince, and the dwarf you’ve been in love with for two years now; he just doesn’t know the last part. He’s so strikingly handsome it’s sometimes hard to maintain eye contact with him, and he posses a charming air about him without coming off as cocky; he would never see you as more than a friend, yet here you are.
You, Fili and Kili have been friends since your family moved into town when you were very young. They would come knock on your door and ask your amad if you could go play, and the three of you would be off having adventures until the sun sank below the horizon.
Earlier today, though, Dwalin had called on Fili for his help with some stuff down in the forges so it’s just been you and Kili. Kili has been the brother you’ve grown closest to over the years, especially considering the feelings you’ve obtained for his brother in more recent years, and the two of you tell each other everything.
Kili glances up at you as the two of you walk down a corridor, aimlessly strolling after having eaten lunch. He tries to keep a straight face before he asks, “So, Y/n. I couldn’t help but notice your change in mood from earlier today. Something wrong?”
You reach over to pinch his arm as you groan, “Kili! Can we not talk about your brother right now? At some point in my life, I’ve got to figure out that it’s hopeless.”
He takes your hand and loops your arm through his, grinning as he responds, “How do you know I was talking about Fili? I could have been talking about anyone! I never actually said his name,” he shrugs and arches an eyebrow.
You stop at a window to look out at the landscape stretching out in front of the Lonely Mountain, and Kili stops with you. “Okay, fine! Go ahead and tease me about this, but you know how serious this is. If I’m that easy to read, then how come Fili hasn’t figured it out yet?”
Chuckling, he says, “You’ve been incredibly transparent when it comes to Fili, Y/n. You can try all you like, but ever since you told me a few months back I can’t help but notice it. And as forFili not knowing? Well, he is Fili, he’s not known to be the sharpest dwarf ever.”
Sighing sadly, you lift your hand to pick at a thread on Kili’s shoulder. “Kee, what am I going to do? I can’t go on like this. Sometimes I just want to say it to his face and get it over with, but I’m so scared he won’t feel the same.”
Kili’s eyes flicker to gaze over your shoulder for a split second and come right back to you. He smiles and untangles your arm from his, and instead, pulling your hands into his bringing you face to face. “Y/n, what would you tell Fili if you could without fear of rejection? I want you to say it exactly how you would want to, yeah?”
You look into Kili’s eyes and see a minute flash of something similar to amusement, but only for a second. Smiling fondly, you respond, “Well, Kili, if I could, I would tell him simply. He’s the most kind-hearted dwarf I’ve ever known.”
You let go of Kili’s hands to wrap your arms around yourself as you continue as images of his handsome face flood your mind.
“The way he holds himself, so confident and sure, as well as the way his eyes make me feel like he’s staring into my soul, makes my knees weak. I realized I loved him two years ago, but I think I’ve loved him since we were kids. It just kind of happened.” You hesitate, then, “But Kee, you know I can’t tell him.”
Suddenly, you hear movement behind you and Kili’s smile brightened as he looks behind you again. “You just did,” is what you hear Fili say, and your body goes rigid as your face loses its color.
Kili looks like he has somewhere else to be and quickly says, “Okay, well. I’m going to go do that thing that I need to do that’s not here right now. Bye! “ as he surges past you and out of sight.
Not daring to turn around, you’re hoping the ground would swallow you up when you feel Fili’s hands lightly caressing your upper arms, attempting to keep you from bolting. “Y/n, hey. Can we please talk about this? Please, turn around so I can see your face,” he says gently.
You shake your head no as tears well up in your eyes, “You weren’t meant to hear that Fili. I- It didn’t mean anything, I was only joking.” A quiet sob works its way out of your throat. “You don’t need to see me like this.”
Fili, being Fili, coerces you into turning around anyway, and there’s no way you could be mad at him for it.
He immediately reaches up to cradle your cheeks in his hands, a look of worry and confusion in his eyes. “Y/n, oh, my beautiful, silly Y/n. There’s no reason to cry, okay?” he coos, pulling you to him and gently kissing the tears from your cheeks.
When he pulls back and looks you in the eyes, you nod your head at him in affirmation and a small smile gracing his features. “And besides,” he continues, “who said anything about your feelings being one-sided, ghivashel?”
You blink in shock and hope flutters in your chest as you search for confirmation of what you’re sure he’s saying in his eyes, “What? Fili, you don’t- I mean, I just- you don’t have to love me back if you don’t want to, Fili, it’s okay.”
Still cradling your face, Fili caresses your cheekbone with his thumb. “Well, it’s too late for that one, Y/n, “ he says, beaming from ear to ear, “because you are the most beautiful, caring and loving woman I have ever met in my life. Your family moved here all those years ago, and the first time I saw you I was gone. I never even stood a chance.”
With every word that’s leaving Fili’s mouth your smile grows, and your heart feels like it’s going to burst. You reach your hands up to grab his wrists, anchoring him to you as you shakily respond, “Well then. I guess I won’t have to figure out some way to get back at Kili for getting me to confess then, huh? ”
Fili laughs and gently pushes a piece of hair out of your face, “I mean, if you still want to after this, then I’m game to help, but it seems like it’s turned out okay. Could you say it again, Y/n?”
Staring into the eyes of the dwarf you love, your heart skips a beat as you answer him. “Fili, I love you. And I’m not afraid anymore.”
His eyes close briefly as your words wash over him, but they open seconds later with a look you’ve never seen before. “I love you so much. You are everything to me, kurduwê.”
Fili pulls your face to his and kisses you. Your hands let go of his to wrap your arms around his neck while he let go of your face to wrap his arms around your waist. His kisses were passionate and long, lighting a fire in you. It was at that moment you realized that he would never let you go.
______________________________
Later that evening, Kili and you are once again walking together, Fili off talking with Thorin about Mahal knows what.
Kili goes to make a smart remark about you and Fili, but you cut him off. “Oh, and by the way Kili, you see that window?” You gesture to the window the two of you are currently walking past, “if you EVER do that again, I’ll throw you out of that window, you- wait. What are you doing??”
Kili is suddenly at the window looking down, and when he looks back up he has mischief in his eyes and a smirk on his face. “Just checking to see how high the drop is. See if it’s worth it.”

The Hobbit: DOS: The Appendices, Part 10 (4/4)
Tumblr media
Last Friday, we, The Hobbit group (aka the Dwarf Lovers aka The Cult of Saint Bofur) spent yet another evening on rewatching The Hobbit Behind the Scenes. Sorry for the delay with this post, this week has been pretty busy for me.
Here’s what we were up to this time:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beorn's house and Edoras were inspired by Old Norse architecture as it was described in Beowulf. So, basically they are saying again that Tolkien was a fanfic writer and was writing fics inspired by Beowulf!
Tumblr media
Thorin and Dwalin are amazed by the breathtaking view at Beorn’s. That, or Dwalin is catching some flies for dinner.
A lot of time passes, they are talking about the process of visual creation, but there are no dwarves in sight. Finally...
Tumblr media
HAVE YOU SEEN THORIN? I saw Thorin's back, I am happy now, thank you.
Beorn lived an alternative lifestyle and was a vegetarian, had beehives you know Bee-orn It turns out chonky bees are cgi PETITION TO MAKE CHONKY BEES!!!
Tumblr media
RA 1. appears on screen; 2. SPEAKS. Everyone: RA THE VOICE the beard! swoon
Tumblr media
And then guess who shows up again... Everyone: THORIN RA FAINTS THE HAIR ahhhh ❤️ I love how everyone just short circuits every time Thorin comes on  me: calmly points out ra y'all: alskdjf;lasdkjflsdfj;saldkf The true identity of Beorn is revealed! I just realized Beorn likes honey cuz he’s a bear changer I just thought my man had a sweet tooth or he made tons of mead and got drunk like a proper viking Beorn the Pooh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tsk-tsk, Martin! 🤣🤣🤣 The dwarves can’t open the door at Beorns. They're all distracted because of the knockers dwarves be like: mine are bigger! Thorin can open the door because he is the chosen one I think Dwalin's head can open it
Tumblr media
A detail for Beorn’s house with Yggdrasil and Huginn and Muninn (or maybe Roäc and Carc?).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cuteness! ❤️ Even the carved boar gets his private language coach!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
RA is fascinated by the wood carvings at Beorn's. Everyone squeals and faints OK Thorin approved the Beorn's decorations, the movie can continue!
Tumblr media
It turns out that Old Bilbo has one of Beorn’s chess pieces in his chest. so Bilbo stole a chess piece!!! YOU LITTLE THIEF ... burglar
Tumblr media
Scary tolkien forests but he liked trees! tolkien said "youre gonna read about lots of trees and youre gonna like it!" and we said "okay"
Mirkwood is a hippy hallucinogenic forest and there are shrooms MirkWoodstock 2941!
So the dwarves get lost in Mirkwood because they were stoned. Was Thorin in Bag End stoned too? No, Hobbit town planning is just wacked :D Or he was very, very stoned and that is probably why he got lost TWICE! 🤣
Tumblr media
Time for Mirkwood! Thrandy, the Princess of Mirkwood! One of the Disney Princesses.
But then, in Mirkwood...
Tumblr media
EVERYBODY LOOK! It’s Thorin! faints
Tumblr media
John Howe made lots of concept art with waterfalls in Mirkwood. If I would be there I would be in the bathroom every five minutes with all those waterfalls How did the elves withstand it? They're elves, they don't need to pee like common mortals! Thranduil needs the waterfalls for his L'Oréal commercials Wrong commercial but... Maybe he was born with it... maybe it's Maybelline... The way Smaug says ‘barrel’... B a r r e l Bilbo talking about all his names Smaug: sleeping Bilbo: Barrel rider... Smaug wakes up: Barrels? I like Barrels! 👀 When Smaug was a lil' Smaugy, his momma would take him to play with elven barrels on the river Smaug: Mama! May we go to Thranduil's Barrel Ride at Universal Studios? I would very much like to go!
Tumblr media
RA speaks in his Thorin voice. Everyone: AAAH THE VOICE! V. O. I. C. E faints THE VOICE There’s a lot of ice floating around in the fishing town of Laketown.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i bet if we were there, we  would do the same 🤣🤣🤣 Bard disapproved He thought the dick jokes were a bit... Fishy he was the one who made it! Bard voice: excuse i have children He sees something like that and just covers Tilda's eyes with his hand
Tumblr media
Aaaand Fili is there too! DEAN DEAN DEAN The actor playing Bain says he’d love to do some paintball at the Laketown set. "Paintball in Laketown" now available at Universal Studios
Tumblr media
Thorin's back appears. AHHHH faints discreetly Peter Jackson says:
Tumblr media
we were supposed to have a separate Thorin/ heirs of Durin theme.... but we were ROBBED! howard shore give us the forbidden heirs of durin theme!!! NOW!
Tumblr media
Thorin’s hair Mirkwood Edition. Thorin's hair is fab even in the muddy, spider infested, rotting Mirkwood... Maybe he was born with it... maybe it's Maybelline...
Tumblr media
At least we got a decent Erebor theme.
Stupid Smaug escapes from the liquid gold bath. Don’t you know it’s good for your skin?!
Tumblr media
Smaug: weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! i’m spinning!  i'm spinniiiiiing!
We had a great time, as always! Thank you all for coming 💙💙💙

Dan Prior → Bill Skarsgård → Vampire
→ Basic Information
Age: 119
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Birthday: October 29th
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio
Religion: Atheist
→ His Personality Dan never wanted the vampire life he was given. It plays into his daily lackadaisical, negative and depressed attitude. Outwardly to those who do not know him, Dan personifies the stereotypical 'rich spoiled boy' who hides behind his wealth and Getta status. However those who truly know him know that Dan is sensitive and lonesome in nature, due to the death of his love and being forcibly changed into a vampire. He is loyal and kind to Getta, as well as his caretaker Sadie. Dan exhibits a genuine desire to be a good person, but it is hidden behind his brooding nature and quick hostility towards those who he believes are too quick to judge him. Dan refuses to be kind or change in order to make friends or change people's outlook of him. He believes that those you accept him now, as is, are the only ones who deserve him in their lives at all.
→ His Personal Facts
Occupation: Student at Hema Academy
Scars: The Bite Mark That Changed Him
Tattoos: None
Two Likes: The Underground and Witches Blood
Two Dislikes: Blood Tears and Human Blood
Two Fears: Day Phobia and Drinking (Guilty Blood Drinker)
Two Hobbies: Brooding and Baseball
Three Positive Traits: Adventurous, Ernest, Innocent
Three Negative Traits: Hostile, Rebellious, Unenthusiastic
→ His Connections
Parent Names:
Wallace Prior (Father): Dan could never live up to his father's expectations.
Bernadette Prior (Mother): Dan was a great disappointment to his mother.
Sibling Names:
None
Children Names:
None
Romantic Connections:
Winona Fili (Deceased Girlfriend): The time they shared together was too short for Dan but the memories will stay with him forever. She was the love of his life.
Platonic Connections:
Rachel Sloane (Best Friend): He was blood hungry for Rachel when he first saw her as a human but when she became a vampire and was betrayed, they became inseparable. Rachel has been a help to him just as he has been a help to her.
Chiara Ricci (Friend): Chiara is pretty cool. Some of the vampires can have cold and gray personalities but Chiara is bright and lights up Dan’s night.
Sadie McCoy (Guardian): Dan wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for Sadie. She has put up with his bullshit and mourning for decades but she is still around. If she wasn’t such a good friend Dan would consider her a mother or older sister figure.
Scorpius Getta (Guardian): Getta calls himself Dan’s grandfather since he was Winona’s maker but Dan sees him as nothing more than his annoying ex-future father-in-law and at times a whining mother hen. Dan respects him.
Richard Fili (Family): Fili was equally as devastated as Dan when Winona was taken from them. He was always nice to Dan and it meant a lot since he was Winona progeny. Dan still cringes whenever Fili calls him dad, sir or papa.
Aleksander Mazur (Family): Alek wasn’t nice to Dan when Winona started bringing him around. They didn’t really bond until after her death. They’re family and no one can tell them otherwise. They would kill for each other.
Raphael Caron (Family): Dan and Raphael hit it off the first time they met. Raphael always went out of his way to be nice to him and considers Dan his little brother. Dan appreciates Raphael putting up with him and never giving up hope.
Fiona ‘Fi’ Marz (Family): Fiona annoyed the crap out of Dan but they bonded soon after Winona's death, when she started telling Dan stories that Winona never had the chance to share. Dan learned to enjoy her company without the stories.
Morana ‘Ana’ Vickors (Acquaintance): Dan doesn’t remember Ana before his change and he doesn’t remember much about her after his change. He remembers her coming more into the picture after Getta took over the Underground. They haven’t had the chance to truly develop their friendship but Dan wouldn’t mind it.
Clarisse Fields (Old Acquaintance): Clara was a part of the same rich society that his parents tried to force him into. She was surprised to see him as a vampire and he was surprised to find out that she was a bear animal shifter. They shared pleasantries and Dan asked for updates about his parents when they were alive.
Hostile Connections:
Petra Chak (Annoyance): Petra nose is too high up to notice that Dan doesn’t give a rat’s ass about her, her history or her age ranking. She can go fuck herself.
Sven (Unknown): Sven offered way too many times to help him end his life. Dan is unsure if he’s trying to be helpful or if he truly hates him.
Chen Ying Yue (Annoyance): Chen is cool but annoyingly happy.
Paul Stone (Hate): When he found out what happened to Rachel, Paul joined his shit list. Dan makes sure to turn on the hungry eyes when he is near.
Pets:
Melissa (Black Cat): He found her in the Underground. A few younger vampires wanted to kill her and see how she tasted. Dan got to her first and has kept her safe.
→ History Dan was the only son and child of Bernadette and Wallace Prior. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. They were one of the wealthiest families in Illinois. Growing up, Dan didn’t give off the personification of the stereotypical rich white boy. He hated his parent’s money and the expectations that came with it. He hated not being able to make normal friends and attend normal functions. He hated that people hated him for his money and even more, hated him because he didn’t want his money. He couldn’t fit in anywhere. He attended piano, gymnastics, tennis, horseback riding, swimming and boxing alone. After getting into fight after fight in private elementary school his parents sent him away to boarding school for middle school. When he returned home for high school, Dan was more bitter than ever. He was introduced to alcohol during his freshman year and cigarettes during his sophomore year. During his junior and senior years, Dan had tried nearly every drug in the book but chose to stick with the basics, alcohol and cigarettes.
It was towards the end of his senior year when Dan snuck out and joined a few of the seniors from school for a trip to the theater. That’s where he met Winona. Her eyes shined and her skin was pale as she brushed past him with a group of friends towards the theater. Dan literally felt chills run down his spine. Throughout the movie, his eyes were transfixed on her a few rows down. Every time she tossed back her hair or when she laughed hard enough to make her shoulders shake, his breath caught. He had met a few fast girls and wasn’t blind to them wanting his money, but this was the first time he had met anyone he wanted to personally pursue. As his and her companions left one by one, Dan made his move, but she had already appeared in front of him in a fit of giggles. She must have noticed him earlier and one of her friends had informed her of his glaze. He was speechless. They kept meeting at the theater every Friday night for a few weeks before Dan asked to make it official. She seemed hesitant at first but with an approving nod from who Dan always assumed was her older brother, Getta, she said yes. They continued dating at other sites, but it was always at night. Dan was ready to take her home to his parents on the night of his graduation, but his parents argued that she was not good enough for their name or their networking groups and possibly was using him for his money. Dan left the house in a storm and met Winona at their usual meeting place. He told her about his parents, and she told him about her being a vampire.
Dan was reintroduced to the world around him. Winona allowed him to take in the information she laid on him. A week later she showed him proof and took him to the Underground. She reintroduced Getta as her maker and showed off her sired sisters and brother. It was another three weeks later, after learning everything he could in his free time, that Winona talked about him becoming a Zygote. Dan declined without much thought. He hated the thought of eternity, being forever young and the thought of surviving on blood. It shocked everyone he was starting to become friends with Underground. He loved Winona like he never loved before and wanted to be with her but life as a vampire wasn’t on his list. He was going to start college; his parents had a list of potential wives that he didn’t want and multiple threats about being disowned. His plate was full, and his head was ready to explode. He wanted Winona to be his forever and was considering accepting her offer once he had more information. His choice was taken from him when Winona’s seethe master found out about them. The seethe master killed Winona for breaking the seethe rules and forcibly changed Dan. When Dan awoke, Getta and Sadie were around him, mourning their loss and the sad new world that Dan would be forced to endure. He didn’t want to live forever, but he was willing to spend it with Winona but now she was gone, and he was a lonely immortal creature.
→ The Present Dan was on suicide watch for years. He yelled, rebelled and refused to drink. He was mourning the loss of Winona and the loss of his human life. He was unable to go home or say goodbye to his parents. His face was on every local paper and every cop was looking for him around town; everywhere but Underground. He was livid at everyone. The seethe master for forcibly changing him and killing Winona. Sadie for trying to comfort him when he wanted to be alone. Getta for not stopping it ahead of time. Aleksander for holding him down and forcibly pouring blood down his throat. Petra for acting unaffected. Raphael for being young and happy all the time, and Fiona for trying to make a bond with him now that her sired sister had died. He hated them all and left bite marks wherever he could on them to show it. It was another 10 years before Getta had enough backing to kill the seethe master and succeed him. That was the only time Dan felt joy. He thought he would finally be allowed to die and have his peace wherever the afterlife took him. He was sadly mistaken. Over the years the others grew attached to him, no matter how hard he pushed them away. Dan was sure they just wanted to keep the last of her alive, which was him and refused to believe he had won them over as he wallowed in his grief.

Fic Rec Friday: The Naming of Hobbits
By: Margo_Kim Summary:
There's a certain point where you can no longer ask someone what their name is. Thorin isn't sure exactly when that point is, but he knows that it's probably some time before the person in question saves your life. On the far side of the Misty Mountains, Thorin realizes that he never quite caught the first part of Mr. Baggins' name, and he finds that it's astonishingly harder to learn than he would have thought. Fili, Kili, and Dwalin are no help whatsoever.
Words: 9756, Chapters: 1/1, Language: English Complete  Fandoms: The Hobbit - All Media Types Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Categories: Gen, M/M Relationships: Bilbo Baggins/Thorin Oakenshield, Bilbo Baggins & Thorin Oakenshield, Fíli & Kíli & Thorin Oakenshield, Dwalin & Thorin Oakenshield Characters: Thorin Oakenshield, Bilbo Baggins, Dwalin, Kíli, Fíli, Thorin's Company Additional Tags: Ambiguous Slash, Literally so ambiguous as to whether this is romantic or friendship, Romantic Friendship, Thorin POV, Awkwardness, Names, Quests, Post-Quest, Alternate Universe - Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies Additional Notes From Me: I die laughing every single time I read this fic. Thorin’s attempts to figure out Bilbo’s name without him realizing it are goddam hilarious and his nephews’ attempts to “help” are priceless.
Read it on AO3 at https://archiveofourown.org/works/3507428
Quote:
Thorin was laying out his bedroll for a fifth miserable night in Mirkwood when Fili leaned over and hissed, “He signed a contract.” He raised his eyebrows at Thorin. “You know. With his name.”
“Yes, I know how signatures work,” Thorin said, but he clasped his hand on Fili’s shoulder anyway. “Well done.” His nephew beamed like the sunlight they hadn’t seen for a while. A moment later, perhaps sensing his brother’s happiness and feeling the need to share in it or destroy it, whatever brotherly inclination he felt today, Kili was there as well.
“What are we talking about?” he asked, looking between the two of them. “Have we made progress on, you know, the mission?” He raised his eyebrows pointedly at Thorin. “You know. With the hobbit.”
“Yes, I knew what you were talking about,” Thorin said.
“The contract,” Fili said to Kili, and Kili oohed.
“Right! With his signature,” Kili said. “That’ll have his name, Uncle.”
“Do both of you think that I’m very bad at understanding simple concepts?” Thorin asked, then held up his hand. “Don’t answer. Who has the contract?”
“That’s the bad news. Mr. Baggins has it,” Fili said. “But I figure you can just ask to, you know, read it again. Maybe you forgot a clause or you want to make sure that he’s getting the treatment we promised him.”
“He is definitely not,” Kili said cheerfully. “This has been much worse than what we promised.”
“Enough. You’re both on first watch.” Thorin gave both of his nephews a stern look. It did less than it had when they were younger. That was the damned thing about the quest, Thorin thought as he left his nephews to stalk over to the other side of camp where Mr. Baggins and Bombur were counting out rations. You spend enough time with people, you get to see that they’re all a little ridiculous. When he was king, he’d have to make sure that no one talked to him longer than five minutes.
