On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, find out from the nonprofit organization Teach For America how you can honor and celebrate the civil rights leader’s life & legacy.
Some were saying “I just don’t get it. I mean like, I get it but why this way?”
“The message is love.” Says a partner to the artist who made this.
It’s called “The Embrace”.
Message being love is more powerful than war, in that there are so many war commemorating statues in America. In my opinion with a changed perspective, this is a cool thing.
I think most of us just felt from this angle it looks a bit weird.. but maybe that says somethin about our perspective on things? Or how nasty of mfs we are?
I also think most of us would rather see something that truly reminds us of MLK Jr when we walk by it.. but the question is, does this not?
Martin Luther King Jr came at everything with love. He loved God, he loved the people, he was the people, he loved his enemy’s, he loved his Children, and he loved his wife, Corretta Scott King.. though arms may be a confusing way to commemorate MLK Jr at first glance.. when you really think about it, the government uses arms to kill, and King used arms to love, accept and embrace. And these are things this world could use a whole lot more of right now. And maybe the artist Hank Willis Thomas, feels the same.
RIP Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And thank you for your great example of what it means to be love and respect, and to be the change you wish to see in the world. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for the energy shift you and so many others helped cause. And may we take after your lead and see the and be the change we must be. Take the sacrifices we must take for the children of our future to be able to live and lead better lives.
