nothing but adoration for myeong-seok and his giles-ass energy. not exactly a father figure not exactly an authority except in a particular context, but the younger protagonists DO see him as a dad figure and they DO defer to him (except when they go haring off on some Quest For Justice or similar scheme and he has to sit there at his desk and out loud say to the empty room why did you even come in to ask me if you were gonna do it anyway?) and while he is, in general, very academic and reserved about things he's not really that far above it all and can be easily convinced to join the chaos, except he does it with this twee little look on his face like aha! what fun! as if he can't quite believe that a) he's included and b) he's doing this 'fun' thing right. his intense legal professionalism is the lens through which he comprehends the world and communicates, and so long as he's within that framework he functions perfectly BUT as soon as you derail him even slightly off this familiar track, he gets super frazzled and flustered and it makes him irritable. in conclusion your honor, he is also autistic but a generation too old to have gotten diagnosed as a child and he has more social skills than the one autistic person he knows so he simply has no idea and probably never will

i'm watching the new Sister Wives and at one point Meri is reminiscing about how she used to be in charge of the Thanksgiving turkey every year bc Kody loved the way she made it *until* he met Robyn and then, in her words, "he just liked hers so much better" or whatever so Robyn did it from then on
and like the full weight of Meri's situation has never really hit me until I heard her say that tbh. bc I also have particular thing I make for holidays only because my husband likes it, so much so that he'll make comments the whole year about how he can't wait for it, and thinking about going from that to where Meri is now.........
like at first they were each others only special person. and then the years went by, he married 2 other women in rapid succession, and by all accounts she no longer felt very special to him but at the very least, every Thanksgiving she had the turkey. Kody loved her turkey and it was one day where she could feel like the special person again.
and then Robyn comes into the picture and she doesn't even get that any more. Like after Leon leaves, she doesn't get anything and to think that every year at the holidays she maybe had a knee jerk "oh I can't wait to make Kody some turkey" thought only to remember that only Robyn's is good enough for him now just made me tear up more than a little.

I'm no ornithologist, but i feel like every chicken deserves a wide, open space with plenty of safe areas to move around in and play (mess around with puzzles, that sort of thing. they probably need a lot of mental stimulation too! ) and eat so they don't get over crowded, and safe spots to retreat to when they need to calm down or mate and roost/nest(i mean, i know chicken sex is probably weird like it is with most birds, but i feel like they would appreciate the privacy and safety. I've been around plenty of chickens. they're generally sensitive animals that deserve more respect.), or be quarantined if they've come down with something or have been injured. they seem to do much better that way, their quality of life seems to improve greatly in captivity when people practice better husbandry with them. of course, different variants of chickens have different needs I'm sure, but it's something I've observed often. birds deserve so much better than to have their intelligence be undermined and be treated like shit, which is unfortunately rather common in today's world.
