He mostly just reminds us that the big prize of this tourney is to duel Yugi, who anyone could have dueled at any point even without the tournament.

On the way out of the...duel room? lounge? Area? This show does that sometimes, where I guess they imply that Yugi’s Pharaoh conversations are split second conversations but...they’re not, right?

And then we just kinda watch chaos go across the park, chaos that includes: Too many ghosts in the haunted mansion (which honestly--you’ll get your money’s worth, sounds great!), the Ferris wheel goes kinda fast and thus might accidentally be fun, the lights turn off at some concert stage that only had 2 people on it (so it might just be motion detector lights and not even a virus), and um...literal fire and magma are going to set Joey Wheeler on fire.

Just...one of these events does not seem like the others. In fact most of these things sound like good improvements to the park and they should just hire Zigfried at this point.

Roland puts down his microphone and jogs across the stage, about a mile through the audience bleachers, and into the staff lounge, to go and bother Seto Kaiba, who is in a room that has a hi-def classical painting copy-pasted on the wall and I can’t look away from it.

I almost did a Google search on this painting but then thought better about it. There’s like...a billion classical paintings that look exactly like this, and they wouldn’t use like a Monet, they would have to do something that’s harder to catch to avoid copyright issues (because yes, even old ass paintings have copyright issues, but no one tell NFT’s which are going to be so freakin screwed and was such a bad idea, that I can’t even start).

Anyway, I have no idea who it is and it is legitimately driving me up a wall, but I’m on too much meds to do the effort of putting it in a reverse google image search.

Plus, a reverse google image search would only pull up Seto Kaiba.

So Kaiba takes us on a little flashback to his weird ass past, a weird ass past that just...doesn’t follow any of the established timelines, but I assume was shortly after adoption but before Seto got into a phase where he wore his school outfit everywhere and tried to shove his MMO off onto his Dad as a business model.

Seto is like 8 for some reason. I don’t know why, they kinda drew him younger this season anyway, like maybe they got a lot of fan mail and realized “Hey I think we made the 16 yo boy too sexy?” And they just toned Seto the hell down. That, and it’s a different animation team, and maybe they looked at Seto’s character design and were like “we don’t get paid enough to draw this well.” So...since Seto actually looks like a teen again, I guess his 12 year old self has to look like he’s in Elementary school.

Also, I only recognized this, because at some point in S3 as I was roasting Noah Kaiba’s weird fashion:

I remember distinctly roasting that little bow tie. I don’t remember when I wrote it, I think there was a version of this outfit that was in color...but I don’t remember where.

Anyway, it’s not the same jacket...but man that’s kind of awkward, ya? Like the maid who dressed Mokuba deffo got fired?

Like we’re at Episode 6, there’s still time for this guy to be a witch...but I really am starting to think this guy is just...straight up not a witch. It’s everything Seto wanted, a rival who isn’t a freakin magic person...and sets Joey only fake on fire instead literally on fire like last time...

and Seto is just completely unhinged by it.

7SEEDS: Last chapter, translation and thoughts

TL;DR: I translated the very last 7SEEDS chapter. KEEP IN MIND IT’S THE VERY LAST ONE, AND MIGHT BE SPOILERIFIC. Also, I have a lot of feelings, thoughts about the romantic couples, Ango’s situation, and more~

Of course, Spoilers for EVERYTHING. 

Finally, about a year after its release, I finished translating the last chapter for 7SEEDS. It’s been a wild ride, and I am honestly impressed with how far I’ve come, and how much I’ve managed to learn along the way. Resources like Romaji to Kanji and Jisho have been an invaluable source of help and knowledge, which I feel deserve credit here.

Since this might not be making much sense: I’ve been translating the unreleased 7SEEDS chapters on Otakumole (if anyone has an account there—hello!! This is lisahey :D). Unfortunately, the very last one was not updated there, and I have no photoshop skillz, so.. this is as close as I can get to releasing my own version of this chapter, partly as a tribute to Tamura’s wonderful work.

Now, to talk about the ending…

Let’s talk about the pairings. I’ll admit it: I’m a huge shipper. Aramaki and Ayu were probably my favorite couple, and I would have loved to see at least an awkward little first kiss between them. Still, I know—both still have a long way to go, and I feel like Tamura made it pretty clear that they would eventually pair up. When Ran mentions something about having a lot of couples, we can see a shot with Semimaru/Natsu, Aramaki/Ayu, Gengoro/Akane, Haru/Koruri, and, naturally, Hana/Arash, so I believe we could call it canon. Even so… I still long to see more of my favorite characters T_T Perhaps I will have to resort to writing fanfiction to get over all these FEELINGS.

In that same topic, I recently saw an illustration with the 7SEEDS couples, which features Ayu holding both Aramaki and Tsunomata’s arms. Could Tamura be trying to say both could work? I believe so, but—I get the feeling that, from now on, Aramaki will be more proactive in their relationship (he did admit to Haru that he felt jealous), and eventually win over, whereas Tsunomata just… doesn’t care. I mean, he did just find out about his dead girlfriend, and his frozen baby, so— the guy might need some time to process that. Weirdly, I could see him pairing up with Botan… if only for the fact that he mentioned that he likes older women with big breasts, lol.

It is also worth mentioning that Ango is #foreveralone on that illustration, but also sort of… blends in with Ryou and Matsuri? … I’ll admit, with how close Ryou is to Ango, I could picture a threesome there. They WILL be travelling together for a long time, after all.

Natsu/Semimaru is… alright. Now that he’s decided that he likes her, Semimaru is clearly quite proactive (I believe he’s kissed her several times already?), while Natsu remains somewhat insecure. Clearly, she cares about him, but… is it really in a romantic way? I feel like Semimaru will have to learn to be more tender before he can truly win her over.

Karita/Ran was just… weird, to be honest. It sort of made sense for Karita to have a crush on Ran (she IS pretty awesome), but for Ran to return those feelings seems a little out of the blue. Karita… is a good guy, but I don’t believe he’s an equal to Ran in terms of maturity or, ahem, intelligence. I kind of get the feeling that Ran is using him for sex, and because, while not terribly bright, he’s loyal and reliable. I guess that might be enough for her? Still, Ran/Nijiko makes a lot more sense, in my eyes. There is that sexy panel with them discussing about the house—and, let’s face it, Nijiko is more on Ran’s intellectual level. Buuut I guess that, in this world, procreation is important…

Sakuya is also alone, apparently looking in Hana’s direction. Am I the only one who found him irritating? My guess is that he eventually paired up with someone… but whom? Who’d be willing to put up with his condescending, smug, unbearable ass? D:

Character bashing aside… I’ve seen some criticism for Ryou/Matsuri, but, personally, I enjoy it. Ryou can be mean as hell, but I think he’s demonstrated that he both needs and enjoys the company of cheerful, caring people, like Matsuri and Koruri. Matsuri sees the world differently than he does, and she has the courage to face him when he’s being a dick—and I think he’s come to realize that he needs that. While he might not be able to return it, he needs Matsuri’s cheerfulness, and her caring. Otherwise, he gets trapped in his own world— something I think is laid bare during the ‘ship and atom bomb’ arc, where he was constantly on edge, thinking of reality as a “test” full of traps. I have a lot of feelings for them! <3

…Though, I do wish we had seen more interactions between Ango and Matsuri, seeing as she is basically dating his best friend now, and they will be travelling together—possibly for YEARS.

Other than that, I wonder about the children. Will Hibari ever become less of an insufferable brat? After the dogs saved her, I thought Tamura might choose for her to work with the animals, but that seemingly wasn’t the case. On the other hand, she’s working with Momota, so that might lay the grounds for them to pair up in the future. I wonder about a triangle with Hotaru, further amplifying Hibari’s hatred and jealousy, but… I DO hope it wouldn’t come to that. Maybe Hotaru can find ~love~ in someone older, seeing as most of them are only about 4-6 years older than her.

Now… to talk about something a little more serious: what did you guys think about Ango’s redemption arc? It kind of broke my heart that there was clearly no going back, and that even close friends like Koruri and Gengoro were turning their backs on him. In a way, I think he’s self-exiling, trying to atone for his crimes. Will they manage to open the Ark? And if they do… will he be able to live a normal life with the others? Or will he keep travelling the world? Either way, I just hope the kid can finally find some peace.

In that vein of thought: was anyone else slightly irked that everyone was acting pretty… sanctimonious-like? Like, hey, Gengoro… remember when you okayed using Momota, a 12-year-old child, as bait for dinosaurs? Remember how you did nothing to help him as Ango forced him to climb a cliff, claiming you “understood how he felt”?

I also regard Ran’s comment about them “paying their respects to Izayoi” with a grain of salt. Akio and her, are believe, and some of the greatest offenders—and yet, no one ever brings it up, or tries to hold them accountable for any of it! They acted as villains at some point, stopping Ryuusei from getting water (which he needed for Kurumi, who was pregnant at the time), they locked in Hara and company inside that underground shelter, leaving behind their own teammate to possibly DIE down there, had they not managed to escape— they beat their team if they didn’t finish their chores, they stole and killed Izayoi’s animals, driving him to a failed mass murder attempt—BUT NO, Ango is the ONLY bad guy here, amiright!?!??! Poor Izayoi! They were such close ~*~friends~*~.

And, now, don’t get me wrong—I know Ango did something horrible, and I actually think that Hana’s fear of him is very legitimate, and well executed. I just wish the others would admit that they, too, aren’t perfect.

Despite my complaints, I still regard 7SEEDS as one of the best mangas ever written. It was a pleasure to translate it—and, I admit, I got somewhat teary eyed when I typed in the final “*END*”, as well as Tamura’s last, grateful goodbye.

Thank YOU, Tamura, for giving us so much throughout the years. You made this world come alive, to the point where I could simply never get enough of these many, beloved characters. I want to see them continue to grow, to mingle, to develop— but I understand that all good things must come to an end. And what an ending! I enjoyed that little background about Chimaki’s father, and was very touched when it turned out he did, after all, remember that single memory he had with his father. I hope you enjoy this translation, and, if you have any questions or recommendations, please let me know!

How I improved/am improving my mental health and self esteem

Hello everyone!

This may be a long post but I feel like it needs to be shared. I just want to start off by saying that this is what has worked for me, but it won’t necessarily work as well for you. There are no guarantees. But it will most likely help at least a little bit. If you are suicidal, self harming or just need someone to talk to, seriously... please get professional help, or if you can’t, feel free to contact me, as I’ve been through it too and will always be here if you need a friend 💕

1. Cut negative people out of your life.

If you have someone who, after speaking to them, you feel worse than before - end it. If your stomach sinks when you see a text from them - end it. If people intentionally hurt you - end it. If they unintentionally hurt you, communicate. It doesn’t need to be confrontational - just bring it up, nicely, eg “hey, if you could avoid x topic when we talk/ if you could avoid saying x id really appreciate it because it makes me uncomfortable/it’s triggering/it’s hurtful” if someone is doing something bad you don’t need to be nice. They are hurting you. And if they cared, they would not be doing that.

Cutting off negative people can hurt. I know from experience. But all you can do is block, avoid, and move on. Do not waste your time on people who aren’t worth it. Don’t sacrifice your mental health or self esteem because you feel obligated to put up with someone who is toxic.

2. Sleep

Sleep helps EVERYTHING. I know, it’s cliche. But try to work on having a set sleep schedule. This can feel impossible especially if you’re depressed and waking up alone is like trying to split the ocean, but trust me... it will be worth it and you will feel better quickly. Try to get about 9 hours of sleep. Wake up at the same time every morning - instead of having lie ins, just go to bed earlier if you can. Play relaxing music or nature sounds on your phone if you want. Do whatever makes you sleep better. Just try to sleep regularly and well.

3. Go through your Instagram... tumblr... Facebook... whatever. Delete everyone you find yourself comparing yourself to negatively.

I did this recently and I feel so much better for having done it. For so long I followed so many fitness models and makeup artists, wishing I could look like them. But the truth is - I will never. And neither will you. And neither will they. Because their photos are all posed, photoshopped and filtered to hell and back. People only upload the highlights of their life. If you’re comparing your rock bottom to someone’s peak - of course you will feel bad. Find more positive people instead. Follow animal pages. Follow people who’ve done inspirational things. Follow people who make you feel inspired, uplifted, happy, or who have done what you want to do - everything you want to do is possible and you can learn from them how to do it! Make your feed something you like to look at, and make it something you feel better after looking at.

4. Make a folder on your phone, fill it will things that make you happy. I know on iPhones you can simply tap the little heart at the bottom of a photo in your gallery to add it to the favourites folder. Mine is full of photos of my pets, my friends, videos from when I went to beach of the ocean, and other things that inspire me - places I want to travel to in the future, things I want to try, things I want to experience... people I love and look up to. Make it whatever you want. Make it super aesthetic and pretty if you want. Fill it with things YOU like. Look at it whenever you’re sad or stressed, or even when you’re just bored and want something nice to do.

5. Write a list of all the (positive) things you see in yourself. Then write a list of all the things you want to be. Analyse everything - the things you want to be are almost always easily attainable, you just need to put in effort and maybe you’ll need some help. Look into how you can reach these goals, and start working on them!

Make healthy, small goals - for example if you wrote that you want to be a good person, make a point of trying to be nice to cashiers in the store, smiling at a stranger, being there for someone who needs help, or learning a valuable skill that could be used for great good in the future (for example, how to do CPR - it’s very easy to learn and many places offer classes for free!)

If everything you want to do will take a long time, don’t fret - you have your whole life ahead of you. Many, many years. There are people who are learning new languages in their 70’s - so who’s saying you can’t now? If you can’t afford your goal look into a cheaper alternative - there’s so much online for free, you’d be amazed what you’ll find!

6. Gradually replace bad habits with good ones. (TW self harm)

For example, if you want to stop swearing - wear an elastic band on your wrist, snap it whenever you swear. Or, whenever you swear, donate a small amount of money to a charity (side note; please research charities before donating, there are lots of shady ones out there!) if you want to stop doing something a lot more major than that, like smoking, drugs, alcohol, self harm - replace it with something positive that will take just as much time. I used to self harm. Whenever I think of it, I try to distract myself with something positive. Usually I’d go on memrise and learn some random words in another language, or I’d look in my favourites folder on my phone. Stay positive as much as you can. All pain is temporary and you are going to be okay. If you believe in a religion, pray. If you don’t, meditate. Try and do this every day. Write out whatever is bothering you every day, rip it up, burn it, do whatever you want with it. Although it’s intended for children, I have a doll I love for this purpose. You can make one yourself easily! It’s a monster, but his mouth is a zip. Rip up the things that worry you in the sheet of paper, and the monster will “eat” it. (Bonus point: the more you do this, the fuller your monster’s belly becomes, which means it becomes even more cuddly!)

7. Look at your body, and acknowledge that it probably has flaws.

And guess what? It’s not the end of the world. We all have things we don’t like on our bodies. Some of these things can be improved, some can’t. If you can’t change it... why worry about it? Most likely nobody will notice these things that eat away at your confidence and they probably don’t care. Your body is fine how it is. There is no such thing as a “good body” or a “bad body”. Your body is your body. All that matters is that it’s a healthy body. If there’s something you don’t like there’s no problem in doing something to change it - got a scar you hate? If you want, get a nice tattoo to conceal it. But the thing is - scars won’t be “normalised” if we keep treating them like they’re wrong. It’s okay to not be confident about having flaws, but if you show them, know that maybe someone will see your confidence and it will inspire them. Wear clothes you genuinely like and that you feel look good on you.

8. Rant and talk it out.

Angry? Sad? Happy? Make a tumblr, a twitter, an Instagram... whatever. Put it on private and don’t follow anyone or let anyone follow it. Rant away. Or, get a diary. Same thing essentially. Just let your heart out! Don’t hold any feelings in. Be honest with yourself. Get any negativity out. When you have a good day, write about it too! Reflect on what makes a day good or bad to you, and try to avoid things that make you unhappy and keep doing things that make you happy!

9. Respect yourself.

People say, treat others as you’d like to be treated. That’s true. But I think you should also treat yourself as you’d like to treat the people you love. When you are having a hard time taking care of yourself or seeing the good in yourself, remember the things about yourself you like. You can’t be the best at everything. But you also can’t be the worst at everything. Just because you don’t have a specific talent at the moment or haven’t broken any world records or anything doesn’t mean you’re a bad person, unworthy or deserve less than other people. Don’t put yourself down in front of other people. Don’t make self deprecating jokes. Because eventually - you will believe them. And so will they. Learn to love and respect yourself and everything else will come naturally.

The final weeks of the project were knocking at my door, and I was finalising the posters after what felt like forever. Especially the poster with the wasteland as a background took me a long time to finish, as lots of detail went into it. But I was very happy with how it was looking like. The other poster was easier for me to do, but unfortunately, when me and M drove the background through Adobe Illustrator, a lot of detail was lost. We had to put both posters from Photoshop to Illustrator in order to turn them into vectors, which could be modified to any scale needed for the printing, without losing quality.

I had settled on a funny idea of painting dinosaurs with different clothing representing their personalities and character. I had sent Lady supervisor an email explaining my idea and some rough sketches, and she had said it sounded wonderful, and that she was very excited actually about these. I did research on dinosaurs of the same era as diplodocus lived in, and picked six different species of dinosaurs. I wanted to paint the dinosaurs digitally, because I wanted to have an organic look and feel to them.  Painting the portraits definitely took the longest out of all the other parts of the exhibition. I realised at this point, that I should’ve started finalising everything sooner and tried to press more for the team to make decisions regarding the illustrations, because now I was running out of time. I had tried to make a schedule, but it was falling through due to me having to wait long periods of time for the paint to dry. However, I really liked how they were starting to look, so I worked harder than ever to meet the deadline. Another thing that slowed the process down was the fact that since the exhibition happens in Wales, everything had to be translated into both English and Welsh, so all the text that I wanted to put into my illustrations, I would have to wait until an official translation company has translated them for me. This is why I decided not to include any text on my images. On the 11th of September, I had finished all of my work, which included: six dinosaur portraits two posters (in collaboration with M) ten silhouettes five illustrations of dinosaurs for the slogans

I arranged a file transfer with the graphic designer of the team, and this process took so long... We haven’t been given her contact information at all, and Lady supervisor had to work as a middle hand between our communication... As I had already expressed earlier, communicating with her through email was incredibly slow and difficult, so I felt quite annoyed at how they handled the file transferring. But hey, they were the client and if they wanted to do it this way, who was I to complain. Finally, it was all done and now I would wait until late October to go see the exhibition as a whole. I congratulated M too for finishing everything with honour, and for the next few days I decided to enjoy my summer holiday without doing anything.

As a whole, this experience was very fun to work with and it was nice being able to have such a big effect on how the final event would look like. I was able to decide what I would produce for the exhibition, what methods to use, and what my illustrations would include. There was definitely much freedom. However, on the other hand this freedom made it very hard to work efficiently; I was given so much freedom, because there wasn’t anyone able to help me with anything art related. The team had very little understanding of illustration and how the process of drawing works, so from time to time they lacked understanding, for example with time it takes. Most of the communication happened through emails, which was very slow and getting answers from the supervising personnel was extremely slow, infuriating and difficult. The attitude towards me was alright, but I sensed, that not everyone doing their work placements were treated equally, e.g the personnel had clear favourites to whom they explained everything, and I guess they expected them to brief everything to the rest. I didn’t find this approach very professional or efficient, and I think it was saving factor that me and M are such close friends; otherwise I doubt everything would have been completed. I would have hoped for clearer instructions and hopes and wishes about what they would have needed me to do as an illustrator. I also found myself doing everything, than what I originally was supposed to be doing; in the end I only took part in one workshop, where I made one tote bag. Other than that, I was left on my own device to make illustrations. As an experience I value this very much, because this taught me to speak my mind and open my mouth if I need something. I have to learn to draw the line on what are my abilities, and express if I can’t do something. I definitely have now learnt to say no. I also think I was taken advantage of; the was much more work done than what we were suppose to do, and I definitely think, I should have gotten paid to do it. The museum now got my illustrations to use for free. This falls to the blame of the careers team not explaining it clearly to ask for payment for any work that was done as extra.

And that’s the end of working with Dippy the dinosaur! I will post images of the exhibition itself in a later post, and talk about how it felt like seeing the project months later.

Ok random thing, but do you perhaps remember the Scarecrow guy who first appeared during the Auction arc? Without spoiling anything let’s just say he’s starting to play a bigger role in the plot so there are lots of theories going around about his identity (and of course almost 90% of the theories are “SCARECROW IS HIDE” because most of the fandom wants Hide back, therefore everyone and anyone mysterious is automatically Hide).

Well, I was trying to multitask by trying to puzzle out Scarecrow’s identity while watching an AoT AMV about Marco and Jean at the same time, and I got confused, so I ended up with:

I’m guessing you were confused because of how feminine Furuta’s facial features are? Because he does look like a girl XD like, if someone drew a genderbend of Furuta it would probably just look like his canon design + breasts - Adam’s apple

I do feel kind of (KIND OF) sorry for him in some ways though, because the Washuus are extremely messed up.

And as for Shuu…it’s amazing how Ishida suddenly turned him into this super likable guy in Re despite the fact that he used to be one of the most hated people in TG, and still make it feel true to his original character (as in, the stuff he does now doesn’t seem OOC and child!Shuu being a sweet little boy sounds strangely plausible).

9 YEARS?! That’s so cool! I used to be pretty good at piano when I was younger but stopped learning due to stress from my teacher and now it’s been years…so I recently started learning again (it’s only been a couple of weeks) and of course I’m not that good at it anymore. Yup, it’s been pretty long since I’ve started playing ^^;; I almost quit in my 3rd year, since I got a new professor and he was horrible. He always pushed me to go to ridiculous lengths to improve my playing. But now I’m glad I didn’t quit ^^
