2022 Fic Recs Part 2: Other Anime

Happy New Year everyone! I have once again read a lot of fics in 2022 and want to share my favorites. I’m only reccing complete fics as usual, although I’m reading a lot of amazing WIPs. Maybe at some point I’ll do a special WIPs rec list?

Fandom: Haikyuu!! Yamaguchi's only issue with it is that he can't tell if it's the type of date he wants it to be or not.

Atsumu can’t take his eyes off his skates.

Shouyou chuckles. “Don’t be scared.”

“I’m not scared,” Atsumu snaps, though his whole body is shaking.

“Just look at me,” Shouyou says and Atsumu has no choice but to comply.

Having a crush on Shouyou has some particular effects on Atsumu's life, like making him act without thinking, causing his heart to flutter when he sees him, and forcing him to make a fool of himself as he tries to impress him.

It's a combination of all three that have Atsumu on an ice rink, pretending to know what he's doing, when he doesn't have a single clue.

But, what if Kageyama came to visit him in Rio with a confession of his own? “‘Yama,” Hinata starts, closing the distance between them and reaching up before he knows what's gotten into him, his sand-scratched fingertips brushing against soft warm cheeks as he turns Kageyama’s face to look at him. He thinks he feels Kageyama lean into it, fantasizes that him closing his eyes is out of comfort rather than exhaustion, and hopes that it’s okay to be touching him like this, so much different than they ever were back home before he left. “What did you come here for?” he whispers, as silent as the contrails left hidden amongst the darkening starry sky above them, as soft as the calm sea just a few blocks away. Kageyama opens his eyes slowly, long eyelashes revealing the deep cobalt constellations of his gaze like a curtain, more emotion swirling inside them than any galaxy.

He looked at Atsumu slowly. “I thought this was supposed to be about sex,” he said. “Well, yeah,” Atsumu met Tobio’s gaze for only a second and quickly looked away. “But then ya wanted to know more about your fake kingdom and I got invested in what I made up, so.” His voice jerked as he pulled out of the parking lot. “Now I want a backstory too.” OR Atsumu and Tobio try roleplay and completely miss the point.

But the bottle of champagne that their waiter brings out, interestingly enough—well. That had been complimentary. In which Osamu and Suna fake proposals for fun and profit.

Title: Allusions Author: Koocatoo Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Miya Atsumu Rating: Teen Word Count: 7,732 Summary: Hinata can't stop thinking about Atsumu, who has only probably been flirting with him since the end of Karasuno's final match during Nationals. He's not entirely sure, but it's been driving him up the wall! Perhaps his trip to spend a weekend with Atsumu in Hirakata will lead to some answers. At least he has a helpful friend group backing him up! Well... somewhat helpful. Alternatively: Pining, Third-Year Hinata has the hots for Rookie Atsumu, and it's becoming a problem.

Title: Disequilibrium Author: bokubroya (liarielle) Pairing: None Rating: Teen Word Count: 15,200 Summary: “I received a call from Hinata’s father,” he begins, finally looking up at the rest of them. “For the time being, Hinata will not be returning to practice. His father didn’t provide many details, not yet at least. He did say that it’s not because of his injuries, Hinata has fully recovered. He also…” Takeda-sensei trails off then, his mouth pressing into a firm line. “Take-chan?” Tanaka is the first one brave enough to speak up. “What’s wrong?” Takeda-sensei takes a deep breath and squares his shoulders back, meeting their eyes. “He said that he can’t guarantee that Hinata will be coming back.” ----- Or, what if, after Hinata and Kageyama fight, Hinata questions whether he should continue playing with Karasuno?

One of these days Itadori will realize Gojou is a walking disaster. One of these days he’ll start paying attention to the things around him. One of these days, he’ll realize Megumi has the world’s biggest crush on him. Not today though, apparently.
