Flashback Friday - Toledo-Style -- Here is a photo from the Toledo Times showing a rare view of the Cherry Street Bridge in 1875. --- The Cherry Street Bridge was the first bridge to span the Maumee in Toledo, built in 1865. The wooden structure stretched 2,200 feet from Water Street at the foot of Cherry Street on the west side to Front Street in East Toledo. --- The original structure was originally a toll bridge built by a stock company that charged 2 cents per person, a dime per horse, a nickel a head for cattle, and a penny a head for sheep and hogs. --- Just two years after it was completed, a flood wiped out one section of the span, with another span swept away in an 1883 floor that followed. A new STEEL bridge was built in 1884 for about $360,000, but lost the western half when a steamship collided with it in 1908. --- The current concrete-arch bridge from Cherry to Main street cost $1.2 million and was finished in 1914. It had lift spans, originally powered by two steam engines, instead of a swing span. --- The bridge was renamed by City Council in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. --- www.thegenealogyinvestigator.com --- #cherrystreetbridge #historytime #toledohistory #historynerd #genealogytribe #thegenealogyinvestigator #martinlutherkingjrbridge #toledoohio #ancestry #genealogy #familytree https://www.instagram.com/p/CgUahG8Oxas/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

HISTORYTIME: Me and Lego movie
Well, hello Tumblr people today I will tell a historytime of mine xd obvious no :v Anyway this is how I "knew" lego movie (you will understand why I put it in quotation marks) well you will see this year ase in February if February my mom went with me and my sister went to a toy store and told us I will buy them a birthday In advance choose a stuffed animal (by the way, I meet in April and my sister in May xd) Anyway, among all the stuffed animals I see one of hellokitty disguised as a unicorn
Then…
my sister: Huuu reminds me of unikitty
me: (Why did that name become so familiar to me?)
And that was the beginning of a journey to remember lego movie and other interesting things xd
And I say that because from that day on, the world focused on reminding me of lego movie Batman and unikitty.
Because things related to unikitty began to appear on YouTube, some short films of the series some criticism of the series, a meme of unikitty in pinterest, fan arts of unikitty etc etc. would appear to me and I remembered the series and it was like aaaaaaa UNIKITTY I ALREADY REMEMBER THE GREAT SERIES YOU WERE AND I REMEMBER OF YOU DR.FOX
But with that I continue with Mr.@burgycreeper405-blog and the lego movie radio meme appear…. Yes
Me: "I start to see the meme and I start to remember all lego movie 2”. Wait… EMMET LUCY QUEEN WATEVRA BENNY AND UNIKITTY THE INCREDIBLE REX AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT HE IS EMMET OF THE FUTURE STILL THE BANANA THAT FUNNY, THE SONG…
“The meme ends and I finish remembering things."
Me:Lego movie LEGO MOVIE HOW RAYS FORGET ABOUT ITS EXISTENCE
(I must tell you that I didn't watch lego movie 1 until this year xd)
Then I proceed to watch lego movie I find out what there is a first part and that I saw the second xd I see lego Batman because I had also seen it but I had forgotten about it and I see unikitty series and I still doubt whether to see lego ninjango
That's why I said at the beginning in quotation marks "I met" because it was to remember that these wonderful movies existed xd and now we are here I grasping fan arts of lego movie xd

Transcript: Let’s talk about Britney Spears and eugenics. Up until recently, Britney Spears was held in 13 year long conservatorship, where she was forced to keep IUD implanted in her to prevent her from  having children. This is shocking, but it isn’t news for disabled people. Let’s go back to 1921 when was held the Second International Congress of Eugenics. Yes, you heard me correctly. In his book “Neurotribes” journalist Steve Silverman writes about the fact that in the post World War I American landscape American scientists have decided that too many “healthy white specimens” had been killed off in the war and therefore the “worst parts” of society were now threatening “the very best” - plot twist by “worst parts” they meant black people, POC and disabled people. Their fearmongering was so successful that in 1937 when a magazine named Fortune took a poll, they found that 2/3 of their readership were in favor of forcibly sterilizing mental patients. Not only that, but Hitler himself was inspired nu their ideas. So, inspired by these American eugenicists, he decided to put their ideas into practice. During this time, 32 states passed laws allowing forced sterilization and almost 70 000 people were forcibly sterilized. It was also common practice at the time to institutionalize disabled and autistic people. And POC and those with intellectual disabilities were disproportionately affected. And before you say, “oh Abi but this will happen so long ago, surely it’s not this way now”. To this day, 31 states still have laws that allow forced sterilization. And in 2020 disability expert Catalina Devandas reported to the UN that current ableism in our medical system is going to lead to modern day eugenics. As Britney Spears demonstrates, this is very much a current issue and disproportionately affects those with intellectual disabilities, and those who are POC. As the bodily autonomy of all uterus owners is currently under threat, this should come as no surprise. Autistic and disabled people deserve control over their reproductive rights, and bodily autonomy is a human right.
- Addition: Other than that Hitler was inspired by some of metaphysical texts of Nietzsche about “superhuman” which were think pieces about how humans can better themselves spiritually, but obviously Hitler decided that it means we can “better ourselves” biologically by murdering those seen as “a threat” to the “ideal Aryan race”. So, it was all America’s fault all along that we all were targeted and murdered, and then they dared to parade around as our saviors? As if they weren’t the ones that directly contributed to this?
The audacity.
