We begin the day after the death of James, Lily and Harry Potter. You, the writer get to take the reigns of a beloved canon or original concept character of your choosing to go forth on this journey with the rest of us! The First Wizarding War has never ended and will continue to grow strong day by day with Lord Voldemort leading the charge. In the span of twenty-four hours, what has changed is actually quite a lot. Millicent Bagnold, our Minister for Magic has stepped down and left the leadership of the Ministry completely empty after just one short year in power. She knew the darkness Lord Voldemort would continue to bring and couldn't bare witness it all unfold under her reign over the wizarding world. Because of this, a lot of tension is overpowering the lasting members of the Ministry and causing some of themto join The Dark Lord in fear that they would end up dead if they don't. The only force that is currently fighting back against Voldemort and his countless supply of Death Eater's is Albus Dumbledore and his army, The Order of the Phoenix! A misfit group of Witches and Wizards bound together by faith and loyalty to the light side of magic. They will stop at nothing to ensure that Voldemort not only pays for his crimes, but comes to an all unfortunate end due to the reign of horror he has already sprouted across the lands.

A little fluffy stuff, it’s been a while and I need to write something while I try to find RP partners. 🙃

Hogsmeade in the winter was a sight to behold, the buildings dressed in a thick sheet of snow with colorful lights dangled atop the shops, Hogwarts students and the locals alike crowding the streets. Sebastian missed the days that he and Anne would peruse the shops with Ominis during this particular season. This time around, he had managed to convince his girlfriend to join him, the two walking hand-in-hand as they slipped through the chattery crowds to get to the Three Broomsticks.

“Keep close.” He told her, his hand tightening its grip on hers as he weaved through the people. The boy was determined to get some quality time alone with her.

As they reached the wooden doors to the establishment, he pushed one open and guided her in first with the most charming smile he could muster. It had been quite an exiting year for them so far, and the joys of such a mundane moment like this was too tempting to pass up. The mere thought of getting cozy in an isolated booth with warm butterbeer was already making him drool slightly.

“Looks like it’s all filled up.” She told Sebastian, gesturing around them at the heavily packed room. There wasn’t a table in sight without a group already seated, much to his annoyance.

“Not for long.” He replied in a whisper, pulling her to the side as he brought out his wand from his school robes. Eyeing a perfect spot for them, a corner booth, he muttered a charm under his breath to cause the table to shake just enough to spill their drinks. His lips curled into a satisfied smirk as the group immediately rose from their seats, leaving it wide open for them to take. Before he could drag her over, he felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see her giving him a stern look.

“Oh, come on, don’t be like that.” He told her with a chuckle. Without letting her open her mouth to scold him, he quickly led them over to the booth and motioned for her to take her seat first. Thankfully the drinks from the group had only spilled to one side, which made it easier for him to have an excuse to sit right next to her.

Sebastian waited until she was settled in before taking his place at her side, sitting close enough to wrap one arm around her. He was thoroughly pleased with himself, and he made sure she knew it as he pulled her closer to rest his cheek on the top of her head.

“Lets not snog before we even get our drinks.” She said quietly to him. Sebastian wanted to laugh, but he kept it in as he used his free hand to fidget with the edge of the table.

“I’m simply cuddling up to you, although I wouldn’t mind a few kisses.” He replied, confident that if he wanted to snog her, she’d let him. Patience wasn’t something he enjoyed exercising, but for her he’d restrain himself and indulge in what he could get.

Surveying for Interest for RP Server

I'm thinking about starting a discord server for a Harry Potter roleplay group! I wanted to make this post to gather some interest and see if anyone out there would want to join!

I've set up the basic server format and am working on a full plot description along with a list of canon characters that will hopefully be included!

This will be a advlit rp server, with descriptive detailed writing, I haven't decided if things will be open for doubling or if it will be one character per person. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, there's a summary of the basic plot below!

Plot summary: Lord Voldemort has been defeated. The Second Wizarding War is over. The Ministry of Magic has convened and decided that the population of the Wizarding Society of Britain is in danger. For too long before the war, witches and wizards have struggled to bear more magical children, and even fewer witches and wizards are being born to muggles. Hence, the Marriage Law. The Ministry deems it necessary to ensure the future of the Magical Population by expediting what, in their eyes, would happen anyways. So the law is set forth, all witches and wizards of marriageable age must be paired, one man and one woman, to be married and have at least one child. The Ministry sets forth a timeline all of Britain's Wizarding Population must adhere to and that includes the seventh years at Hogwarts. Even the returning students of Harry Potter's year, who have been asked to return to the school for a final year so they may receive their final year of magical training and take their NEWT exams. And so Harry Potter and his friends, and possible enemies, return to Hogwarts, joining the students of the last sixth year, to be come seventh years once more, except this time they're all engaged.

I’d love for the main rp to be set in Hogwarts; I’m looking for something kind of warm, and cosy, with lots of emphasis on the castle and the world around them. And here Harry had been thinking that the most exciting thing that would happen this school would be the Quidditch World Cup. Really, he should have known better; this was his life, after all. Between the chaos that broke out in the night, after that event, and the unsubtle hints that the Weasleys kept dropping, he really should have had a stronger sense of foreboding.

Technically, it was exciting news. Harry didn’t know anything about the Triwizard Tournament, but it was clear that it held global wizarding significance. If he was honest, though, from the moment Dumbledore announced it, Harry was just as intrigued by the prospect of these other international magical schools as he was by the Tournament itself.

He wasn’t disappointed. The night that the two groups arrived, it was a magnificent and dramatic display; the a carriage the size of a large house flew in pulled by Abraxans, producing the breathtaking medley of darker-skin-toned students with Professor Ahoka from Ilvermorny, and the Durmstrang ship emerged from the lake, revealing its fur-robed students, Professor Karkaroff, and Viktor Krum of all people.

From night one, it was a bit easier interacting with Ilvermorny. Their headmistress didn’t share Karkaroff’s snobbery, and actively worked out a schedule with McGonagall to get her students into the Hogwarts classrooms. And that was how Harry wound up with two new additions in his close friend group; most who had come were seventeen, eligible to compete, but a few had younger siblings who had joined them.

Among these were Taylor and Tyler, and they became part of the group from the first feast, when Taylor overheard Harry’s curiosity over some of the dishes that had appeared, clearly native to their guests’ homelands, and had made herself at home to tell him about it.

Since then, Harry was finding himself delighting in learning about American food, culture, education, and society from the sharp-eyed, sharp-witted girl. She and her twin fit right in--Hermione began improving her sign language, getting to know Tyler--and the weeks rolled on until they reached Halloween.

For the holiday occasion, a cloud of live bats was fluttering around the enchanted ceiling, while hundreds of carved pumpkins leered from every corner. Harry led the way over to Dean and Seamus, who were discussing those Hogwarts students of seventeen or over who had entered. There were names from every House, and excitement was palpable in the air, waiting for the end of dinner and the discovery of who was in.

“Did both your sisters go in for it?” Ron asked Taylor eagerly. “Angelina did, for us....Cedric Diggory, too, from Hufflepuff, and I heard that big Slytherin bloke Warrington, as well. I’d love for it to be a Gryffindor, just seems to make sense, doesn’t it?”

Small Introduction:

Hey there! I have done many iterations of this and honestly I just miss it! I hope you all will take the time to read this over as i spent a lot of time on this and it's not fun when people don't read everything.

Plot:

This does go chronologically through Harry Potter's years at Hogwarts and the struggles he deals with as well as his friends and enemies at school. But not only will we be following Harry Potter but some other characters.

My main character, Catalina Thorne, has gone through quite a lot. Not by any means as much as Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived. But she has dealt with things her classmates and friends could scarcely ever go through. She had to watch her life unfold as a lie and had to lie about the true death of her family. She has to keep a secret of the family safe. The one person she shouldn't trust her secret to is the son of a death eater. But Catalina, the shy sweet innocent girl that she plays, goes and gets a crush on the worst person she can, Draco Malfoy. Can she manage to keep her family secret when her boyfriend's family is one of the darkest wizarding families? Find out!

Rules:

1. Please make sure you know Wizarding World lore and background. I will make a channel for information if anyone has any questions.

2. Sexual activities must happen in a private channel and with the proper procedures. The students can only do this if you are in year 5. Younger years are allowed to do hand holding and kissing and the like.

3. You are allowed to play as many characters as you can control. Just please don't play too many that it's a burden for you.

4. Any ocs are allowed. Just please provide a bio and picture and let it be approved beforehand.

5. Please no fighting for ships. I have set some but if you want to create one, let me know

6. I will need help to make this group as making groups isn't my forte. I'm not great at creating a bots channel. So if you want to help me, please inform me immediately.

7. I would like you all to be semi literate to literate and speak in full sentences. The more details, the better!

8. If you need a refresher course in how to make bots and tulls, let me know. I forgot after a while but once you learn, it's not hard to do!

This is going to be a long vent post. Sorry. I'm on mobile so idk how to do a read more on here...

Anyways. After some back n forths in the discord chat for it I kinda changed my mind about the Pathfinder group I'm in due to a couple of players. Unfortunately. I don't think they are bad people or anything. I even consider both of them to be friends. It's just that as a group I think we are all incompatible.

All of us are new to 2e, and Zach (as the GM) told everyone that while we learn how to play, we will be sticking with Rules As Written and doing a prewritten adventure path (Strength of Thousands). We also agreed that we want this to be a chill, stress free game since again. We are all learning.

One of the players is actually a coworker. I have played DnD with him before, and he was my DM for a homebrew 5e game. He has a whole slew of house rules that we all pretty neat and fun, and I thought he was a great DM for that. The group fell apart (it was full of other coworkers who slowly lost interest) but I had an otherwise positive experience. When we started talking about PF2e together, and he learned that Zach and I were planning on playing, he asked us if he could join. I said, of course! We had a blast playing in your game, why not!

Well, we have quickly learned that as a player... he is.... I don't know. Particular. Before we even knew what kind of Pathfinder game we wanted to do, he already had a character in mind that he desperately wanted to play. When Zach suggested Strength of Thousands, everyone else was on board, but my coworker resisted, saying that he didn't want to play in a "Hogwarts" game and that his character wouldn't fit in. Zach was taken aback but suggested other APs that we could try that were "beginner friendly"... everyone else still wanted Strength of Thousands, and eventually my coworker relented, saying that he would figure out a way to make his character work.

His character that he wanted to play is a swashbuckler rogue that focuses on intimidation checks. She is selfish, brutal, and unfriendly/rude. And an active criminal on top of all of that. I don't know if anyone reading this has ever played Strength of Thousands or know the lore for it, but this kind of character... doesn't really fit. At all. And we confirmed that when the character caused social issues in session 1 with the NPCs, which he then blamed on the GM (it wasn't outright said, but he argued extensively that the consequences should not have happened).

On top of all of this, he keeps arguing about rules. He calls it constructive criticism, and outright told us that he wasn't going to stop. He is upset that the GM won't homebrew. He is irritated that the GM refuses to put house rules in place to make the game "more fun". He doesn't like Exploration mode and thinks we should get rid of the mechanics outright to have more "free-flowing RP". He wanted to add another +1 circumstance bonus to Shield. He wanted to give himself an extra lv 1 feat, even though he already was a Versatile Human with more feats than the rest of the group from the start. He didn't want to take a druid or wizard dedication at lv 2 like the AP tells you to do, it "doesn't fit his character", he wants to be able to choose another dedication with his Free Archetype. He thinks the changes to Counterspell absolutely break the power fantasy of a caster and that if they thought casters were too powerful, they should have buffed martials instead of nerf casters. He got upset when getting into a combat that the group was trying to avoid awarded us 0 exp and said that no warning was given (yes it was). He argued that him using Intimidating Glare was meant to help him use the Coerce action, and when I pointed out that it was augmenting his Demoralize, that "well that was clearly not my intent in the social interaction so the GM should have known better".

The other player that's causing strain is my coworker's wife. She is the opposite of my coworker... she doesn't give a shit about the rules. She wants to play loosey-goosey and just go with the flow with whatever is the most fun, is entirely roleplay focused, and thinks the rules are merely suggestions that can be adjusted at a whim. When the disagreements broke out in our discord chat, she came to my coworkers defense, that she hated rules discussions because they suck, and said that being rewarded 0 exp was bullshit bc xyz, that using an intimidate action shouldn't trigger combat and that it was not clear that that would happen (yes it was), and regarding rules.... "If the rules don't make sense, they should be changed".

It has put a cloud over the entire experience for me. It has for Zach as well, because the arguments and rules lawyering have been going on for weeks now, despite yesterday being our very first session, and it makes him feel like they don't respect him as a fellow player. That they see him (as the GM) as some robot who is supposed to always make it fun for the players no matter the cost, even at his expense.

And, again. We are all. New. To the game. We aren't familiar with the rules just yet. We don't know how things are balanced and why. Which is why Zach wanted to stick with RAW until we were more familiar with the system. He wanted things to be balanced and not have to worry about a bunch of changes that he had to keep track of, as opposed to just opening a book or AoN to double check a ruling.

And we have told them both this. But they still continue to argue, back and forth, in circles. Zach has discord muted entirely because it's been stressing him out so much.

I've been excited for over a month now to play this game, but the entire experience has been soured because I thought inviting my coworker, who I previously thought was chill, to play with us. And it's not just me and Zach, the other two players are getting iffy on it as well, and they are the ones fucking hosting the sessions.

I'm tired.

It’s October 31, 1981 the wizarding world is on the brink of war.

Voldemort is not defeated by a toddler. No, he is betrayed. Not by the wizards and witches who follow him but by the magical beings aligned with him for the purpose of being seen, being heard. What better way to be heard than by ridding the wizarding world of one dark wizard? Why stop at one wizard?

Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix have far more to worry about than themselves. Werewolves, vampires, and other creatures rise from the shadows to make themselves known. A new faction is grown, honed to do what Voldemort couldn’t, to protect those the Order couldn’t, and to lead those the Ministry failed. Wizards and witches have to adapt or fight back.

All it takes is one spell. One spell to change it all. One spell to plunge the wizarding world into chaos. One spell to reveal secrets and truths hidden in time.

The question is: Whose side do you choose?
