Three ships: Excluding tpn because that would be lame, the first that come to my mind are Bones x Kirk - Star Trek, (platonic) Elsa / Anna - Frozen, All Might x happiness - My Hero Academia. Now that I think about it, I've never been much of a shipping person? I personally find platonic relationships much more interesting.

Last song: The Opera - Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Since it's quite a long song, I listen to it significantly less than the other songs from the recording- it's still a beautiful song tho.

Last movie: I may be wrong but I think it was J. J. Abrams' Super 8. I remember being very scared by it when I was younger, so I wanted to see if watching it again now it would have still scared me. It didn't, but it was a nice movie nonetheless!

Currently reading: Unfortunately I don't read much for myself during school, and even when it's finished I find it very hard to get back on track; but I really want to read War and Peace so that's probably the one I'm starting next- together with Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground because I can't possibly read just one book at once.

Currently watching: Some things. Avatar: The Last Airbender, Death Note, rewatching Kill la Kill with my cousin; also sporadically watching Steven Universe episodes and Law & Order (the original plus SVU) whenever it plays on TV. As bonus, I just finished watching Japan Sinks and Little Witch Academia. (I hadn't realized until now how many things I was watching and had watched, wow?? I'm glad I didn't waste time.)

Wearing: I've spent more than one hour looking for an imagine of my shirt on the internet, but, as I should have expected, it seems like clothes companies delete the public data about older collections. Anyway, it's a cute, white, very light shirt with short sleeves. It's got thin vertical stripes of various pastel colors and it's made of a kinda rough material I can't seem to identify. Under that there's high-waisted, light blue jeans. I like this outfit, I find it pretty. I like wearing pretty things even when I'm staying home, it makes me feel good about myself.

Favorite song: With no hesitations, No One Else - Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. The only doubt I have is if I prefer Phillipa Soo's or Denée Benton's version.

Favorite instruments: Probably piano; second place is cello.

Favorite author: Of what? If this is about books, I don't feel like I read enough to give a fair answer, but so far Dostoevsky and Kafka really stuck with me.

Favorite animal sound: Seaguls' squeal!!!! But also lil birdies' chirping.

Aesthetic: Docks!! The seaguls screaming in the air. The sun shining in the blue sky, originating mesmerizing reflects on the sea, like millions of dimonds. All the smells in the world concentrated in just one place. The movement, the life!! So many sights, smells, flavors and feelings mixing together. The ephemeral beauty of catching, for a single moment, the sight of something marvelous and extraordinary, and never getting to see it again, but cherishing this exaggerated memory of that serendipity. The hectic atmosphere of people going to and fro. The concept of connecting different cultures, the concept of leaving for new adventures. Just one place filled with complete strangers all so different, all so unique, where you can disappear - but without losing yourself. I just find harbors neat!

finn and clarke. its a cute ship but i dont think that its endgame especially with raven coming down to stir the pot but also because i’ve read some of y’alls urls...

what are the actual odds that raven would actually land close to where the 100 is at? cuz i have a feeling its not high but plot i guess

for someone is really about hope and being optimistic clarke really said why would i wish on a shooting star “its just a rock burning up in the atmosphere”

*after seeing raven’s pod enter the atmosphere* “please tell me they brought down some shampoo”- a girl that bellamy is sleeping with...I am this girl and this girl is me. i know in one of my other posts i compared bellamy to zuko but as of rn he’s more of a jet (charming yet ruthless leader of a group of kids) especially back to whatever episode where he did a speech about privilege and wanting the upper class to do the work for once--> very reminisce of Jet and the freedom fighters. both bellamy and jet are very bitter towards those in power because they did wrong toward their family members. BUT also season 1 of avatar where jet is willing kill a village just to get rid of the fire nation is similar to bellamy wanting everyone to take off their wristbands despite clarke’s warning about how the need the aid of the ark to survive

and yes im aware of the comparison between bellarke but zutara now idk about that because zutara holds a special place in my heart. honest to god there was so much parallels between the two (twin flames) and foreshadowing you can’t convince that the two are not soulmates. i’ll wait and see tho

abby really released the video that she essentially killed her husband for creating. ok. and then she pretend that the council was the one responsible for his death when she was the person that gave him up. playing the hero when you’re actually the villain

side note: what is the life expectancy of people on the arc cuz the oldest person i’ve seen (kane’s mom) could not have been older than 75

wow they really didn’t see the signal from earth great. just great. is it just me or is how they killed the people on the ark remind you of gas chambers? idk this episode was very sad and depressing for me

also now clarke wants to wish on a star? is that character development or is she just salty about finn and raven?

fuck....Octavia is dead that or i predict that she becomes the princess of grounders kind like how princess leia was taken in by the ewoks (and before anyone gets any ideas no I do not consider grounders as lesser beings if anything i think that they are superior to the spacers i’m just spewing out random shit)

also major side note: where the hell is this asian lady on the ark. the last i saw of her was the pilot episode so where is she?? did they cut out of the story??!

....i was very curious and annoyed so i looked it up and yes. they did fucking cut her out. wtf did they really just bait me with diversity in the pilot. I’m honestly mad because as an Asian american i like to see representation which is why i was so happy to see female asian american on screen when i watched the pilot. now im angry. while i know that diversity is not a big deal to some people it is to me and i really don’t appreciate the 100 showing all these diverse faces in pilot to only to just cut them out of the show. seriously wtf (monty better have a badass storyline)

don’t worry i’ll keep watching the show and blogging but rn im just really disappointed in the show. like really please don’t dangle diversity in my face when you’re just gonna snatch it away

The other two students said their goodbyes first, thanking once more for the job as they excited the cafe. Jeongguk grabbed at his backpack strap that lodged itself under a table leg, shimmying it gently away while also saying a thanks, “I’ll keep practicing on film, so don’t be too worried.” The professor smiled down to her notes as he spoke with assurance that felt more aimed at himself than her. She removed her glasses as he stood upright, doing a better job at easing Jeongguk’s tension,

“I’m not, and you don’t need to be either. From the photography samples you brought today, I don’t think you have any issues with perspective and have a good eye for the image overall. It’ll be a good chance to practice, try to relax about it.” Jeongguk nodded his head, looking at her organized notebook, and closed folder that previously held aspects of the wedding that she passed out. He thought of her mentioning the close friendship between her and the bride, saying everyone was genuinely overjoyed by the news. A lot to document appropriately for such a happy event. But like she was coaxing now, he knew that the couple themselves were okay with students using this as a large scale practice.

“I’ll try, yeah.” He nodded, a hand fiddling with the sleeve hem of his sweatshirt, “Thanks again.” She nodded her head at his words, something about her graceful, but imposing enough without the added stipulation of this job Jeongguk signed up for. He shrugged the thought away, starting a goodbye as the front door chimed open. Vibrancy walked in as a man about Jeongguk’s age-- another student given the proximity of the cafe to campus. He glanced around, while Jeongguk turned his attention back to his professor,

“I’ll see you at the next meeting.”

“Yeah,” She nodded, waving a hand in the direction of the student, “Hopefully next time we can use a studio to map out the choreography they’ll be using,” Jeongguk shifted as the man walked over, his head nodding once in greeting though he had no idea who he was. “This is Jung Hoseok, he’s arranging the choreography for the wedding party.” Hoseok in question smiled at Jeongguk, the two opting for a small handshake as professor Choi continued, “Choreography apparently so difficult the groom thought he accidentally hired a professional instead of an undergrad.”

“The bride wants it to be big, so,” Hoseok gestures with his hands to match the cheerful expression, “Can’t argue with that. What was your name, by the way?”

“Jeon Jeongguk.”

“Haven’t seen you around campus before, I don’t think.”

“He just transferred this semester.” Professor Choi interjected, gesturing her head to one of the empty seats, “Sorry to cut in on the introduction, but I need to go over a few things with him and get to a class.”

Jeongguk exhaled in the crisp air, starting a descent down the sidewalk. He skimmed down at his phone at the first crosswalk, wondering how else to improve to match up better with the actual filmography student, whom brought a sample of an incredibly crafted video she made for some competition over the summer. His eyes caught the red bubble of attached to his messaging app. The one from Jimin started off in a ramble of anger towards a situation that must have happened in a class, but Jeongguk clicked open the thread he shared with you first. His lips pursed, seeing a video sent earlier. Clicking play chuckling almost immediately fell as your voice grumbled from off screen, “The light quality in here is crap-”

“My head hurts don’t turn on anymore just to film the dog-” Gold barked at that point, eager in anticipation of the ball Namjoon’s hand while he sat huddled in blankets on the couch, “He cursed at me-”

“Throw the ball, Joon!” A half-hearted toss that sent the puppy’s nails clattering against the floor as he raced off to retrieve it. “Look, he’s an athlete- Jeonggukie,” Jeongguk bit onto his bottom lip an unabashed smile aimed at the pixelated video on his phone, “I’m going to have to be his trainer, you know? Like, I’ll just adopt him-”

“Hell has to freeze over for him to agree to that-”

“Joon, this isn’t your moment.”

Jeongguk’s laughter continued as the video concluded there, typing in a series of emojis, then startling as a car somewhere off-beside him honked. He rolled his eyes at his own shock and clicked to your contact information and hit to dial.

“Jeonggukie?” He smiled at the confused tone of your voice as you answered, “I’m writing up the adoption papers-”

“You’re never getting my puppy, babe.” You laughed on the other end. Wind hit against the receiver into his ear. “Are you out with Gold, right now? I’ll meet up with you both.”

“Ah, the meeting’s already over?” He moved from the center of the sidewalk to the wall as you spoke on, “Yeah, I’m at the park with him, but I’m getting cold. I didn’t know the wind would be this strong.”

“Let’s go to a cafe, I don’t want you to get sick.” He considered the park he usually takes Gold to be where you were as well and thought of different places around there. “Yoongi and I went to a nice one before, I’ll send you the location?”

“Okay,” Your voice distanced from the receiver, “Listen,” He covered his free ear to tune in better, hearing a little series of barks as you started talking nonsense to get Gold to speak. Jeongguk smiled at the odd sound you were making, “He said he loves me most.”

“Did he? I heard him say save me from this iPhone girl, dad; didn’t you?” You snickered on the other side,

“No, he actually said let’s get out of this weather.”

“I’ll get you both something to warm up with then, okay?” Gentle tone as he started walking to the general location of Yoongi’s apartment complex. “Before you say no, just agree because I will anyways.”

“Well,” Your sentence fell away as he called out what your response would’ve been, “Only if you admit that Gold likes me more than Yoongi.”

“How does that correlate?” Jeongguk laughed, listening to your own giggling on the other end, “I can’t say, Yoongi will sue me if I do. I like you more than Yoongi, is that good enough?”

“Wow,” You sounded taken back with a higher voice, “Yeah, I’ll gloat to him about it the next time I see him.” Still seeming like you were scrambling for a sarcastic reply. “What an honor.” Quieter, sort of shy, Jeongguk thought. He smiled, looking down at the concrete as he travelled along. Even smaller as you barely voiced, “Really?”

“Yeah,” He didn’t need to think before he was mumbling a reply, “Much more.”

Every month all of you fantastic writers work your asses off to post some truly incredible stories. Our Angel Fish Awards are the way for all of us, as a community of writers and readers, to lift each other up and give praise to those who have captured our attention and deserve a few kind words.

The monthly Angel Fish Awards are peer-nominated, meaning ANYONE IN THE POND CAN NOMINATE ANY POND MEMBER’S FIC. While the Pond was founded to support the Guppies, everyone in this community deserves to be showered with love and feedback, and we hope that by opening this up as a Pond wide system, we’ll be able to share the love as far as it can go.

Tara has a gift for snark, which is a must-have for writing Crowley, and she nails demon!Dean with smug, cocky finesse. A nice, cheeky, angsty look into what could have happened while they were howling at the moon, and an appropriately moody ending. I love the banter. I love the pining. I need more people to read this!

This was a surprise, even with what I’ve come to expect from Beka. It’s short and sweet with a shot of blech and so fluffy. So fluffy!!

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: there aren’t enough Drowley fics to be had. Which makes this one twice as satisfying! Tara nails Crowley being Crowley and it’s glorious, but what really blew me away here was Dean. Holy smokes! I didn’t know whether I wanted him to keep fighting or give in, his perception was so well handled. It would have been very easy to get something wrong with his character here, but that never happened. And read the warnings for sure… This one’s DARK.

This is short and sweet and meaningful. Dad!Dean is always a thing that tugs at my heart strings, and the kind of hope and strength he portrays in this, even if it’s quiet and coupled with worry and uncertainty, is so Dean and so important for people struggling with mental illness. Finding hope, solace, and comfort in fanfiction is a powerful thing, and that light and support shines through in this sweet little gem!

This is one of the sexiest Benny fics, hell, one of THE sexiest fics I’ve read in a while. There’s wit and sass and an undeniable pull and tension between them. The heightened vamp senses and the way they play into this kills me. I’m a sucker for a big fucker and the way Benny is portrayed in this really showcases the big brute’s size. Seriously, it’s just fucking good so go read it okay?

I’m a slut for dubcon, for rough!Winchesters, and this portrayal of purgatory!Dean really fucking delivers on so many levels. Rhi’s characterization is spot on, as always, and it all feels so dangerous and gritty. It’s painful and scary and heartbreaking and riveting and makes you feel guilty for wanting it so badly.

I love a good twisted Winchesters story and Mana did a fan-freakin-tastic job of portraying the boys as twisted while still keeping them in character. Her portrayal of them just felt so spot on to me and I just adore this fic!

So many good stories in this 'verse but A History of Violence Parts 1 & 2 are my two favorites because everybody gets a little bit sassy and that’s always fun! The characters and the settings are very well written and I enjoy reading anything written by George!

my endgame thoughts (MAJOR SPOILERS)

Alright so I saw Endgame last night and I have had time to process my feelings about it so be ready for my rant, and again this includes MAJOR ENDGAME SPOILERS

I first want to say that I did really like the movie. After all of the spoilers got loose and people who hadn’t even seen the movie were just slandering it nonstop, I was really scared that I was gonna hate the entire thing. That definitely wasn’t the case. I hate a few of the decisions the Russo brothers made but overall I thought the movie was really good. It’s not going to be my favorite marvel movie, nor do I think it’s the best one, but I think it did have an overall good ending to the Infinity Saga, even if some of the character’s endings weren’t what I liked.

C A R O L. Fuck the Russo brothers for teasing her so much just for her to be in five minutes of it. I will say though, when she was in it, she was the goddess we knew from her own movie and she KICKED ASS. I’m looking forward to seeing her lead the rest of the next chapter of the MCU. And I am really shocked that we actually got Carol in her iconic pixie cut, definitely didn’t think the MCU was gonna give that to us.

I am LIVID at the Russo brothers for saying “oh yeah we have a gay character in the film whoohoo!” AND IT WAS FUCKING JOE RUSSO’S STUPID FACE TALKING ABOUT GOING ON A DATE WITH A MAN. OOH I’m mad, because number one that is QUEERBAITING because we thought it meant Carol but no the Russos don’t want us to have nice things.

Thor. My god that was awful. I knew about his awful hair but I did not know about the beer belly and his weight gain. That pisses me off so goddamn much. It wasn’t necessary, it really fucking wasn’t. There are many other ways they could have depicted his depression without that. As a plus size person, I was disgusted because everyone in the theater was dying of laughter just at the sight of Thor almost anytime he came on screen. He was there just to be a lazy source of humor because people love fat jokes. Obviously, there really isn’t plus size representation in the MCU and I am perfectly fine with that because I mean these are superheroes and aliens and literal gods, it makes sense that they aren’t, and sure there was a fat joke every once in a while but even I find the occasional one funny. When it is pretty much the biggest source of comedy for the movie minus Scott, that crosses a line. It really felt like the only reason Thor was there was to supply constant fat jokes, and honestly that’s just lazy writing on the Russo brother’s parts not that I expected much more let’s be honest

Nat’s death … I mean if you’ve followed me for a while I don’t think it’s a secret that I don’t like Scar Jo and I don’t like MCU Nat because the writers have screwed her over time and time again and then on top of that, Scar Jo just doesn’t … do anything ?? Like I do not see the appeal to her acting if that’s what you want to call it. Hell, I could probably do a better Nat. Honestly I’m pretty happy that they killed her off because that means Nat won’t have to be portrayed poorly anymore and I won’t have to see Scar Jo’s face for the rest of the movies, with the exception of maybe the Black Widow movie if that happens but it’ll probably be a prequel so I am all good with that. I am sad that any version of Natasha dies but I just don’t want to see one of my favorite characters get treated so badly anymore.

Nebula. I was really happy with how big of a part she played in this film, she has always been a favorite of mine and her development has just been amazing. Karen Gillan really did so well in this film and I’m happy she was given the chance to show how important of a character she is.

Where was Okoye ??? Why put her on the poster, why have Danai on this huge press tour, why do any of that if I saw her A TOTAL OF TWO MINUTES?!?! They just baited us the whole time ugh....

I was not a fan of Professor Hulk. I don’t know it was but I just ... it just felt like something was off about him the whole time, and I really hope that it’s the end for Hulk just because I don’t know if I could take that again.

Scott is a gem. Scott is perfect, no one hurt him, no one change him, he stays forever.

The time travel plot wasn’t bad, I thought, it’s basically what we expected even without the spoilers. The little changes when they went back in time to get the stones were great, especially Loki. Like the Tesseract just appeared next to him and he said YEET and left.

The final battle was EPIC especially the moment when all the portals open and everyone appears oh my god that was magical, though I wish we got to see more reunions like Steve should have RAN to hug Bucky :( but Sam saying “on your left” to let him know they fixed the snap was incredible. And the Steve fucking WIELDING MJOLNIR !!! AMAZING. And that scene when all of the super ladies were helping Carol get the gauntlet to the van I mean GODDAMN that was breathtaking. Literally everyone in the theater was cheering and shouting during it which made it so much better too. And Pepper as Rescue, wow I’m so happy I was given that.

I was really happy that we got to see Gamora again, I mean seeing her kick Chris Pratt in the balls was one of the highlights of the movie for me. I hope that maybe they’ll find a way to bring her back but I’m a little hesitant because then that might mean Scar Jo would come back

Tony. As much as his death hurt me and as much as I love him and wish he didn’t die, I really do think that his death was the right way for him to go. We all know Tony, he could pull himself away for a while but he always went back to the fight, and he died to protect the family he found and that is the most Iron Man thing he could’ve done. And the fact that his last words were “I am Iron Man” ?? I mean come on that is how this whole thing started and we’re gonna end with that ?! Oof that was the most beautifully heartbreaking part of the movie. I love you x3000 Tony.

And now we get to the part that I’m most angry about … Steve Rogers. One of the best characters of the MCU (in my opinion) and the Russo brothers gave him That. I was seething when I saw it play out on screen, even though I had known it would happen from spoilers. There is no way, absolutely NO WAY Steve would have gone back and just lived a mundane life while KNOWING that Bucky was out there being brainwashed and tortured and he knew HYDRA was invading S.H.I.E.L.D the whole time, the place that Peggy, the person he went back for, built up and dedicated so much of herself to … and him leaving Bucky after Bucky had just gotten back to him? Nope, that is not the Steve Rogers that we have grown to love and I would rather he had died protecting those he loved than THAT. Yes, I think he deserves to be happy and Peggy is one of many sources of happiness for him, but he has so many more in the timeline he left behind that I just don’t see him risking all of that for Peggy. I really think this was the easiest way for Marvel to establish that Steve is heterosexual and that there is Nothing There with Bucky because they are cowards. And another thing, it just completely goes against literally everything Agent Carter was about. I love Peggy, and I always loved her with Steve, but she moved on and he needed too as well WITH BUCKY OR SAM OR TONY OR REALLY ANYONE ELSE. Agent Carter was basically all about Peggy proving herself to be more than just Captain America’s girlfriend, and Steve going back to disrupt all of that is just so wrong on so many levels. The only good thing that came out of this ending for Steve was that he gave Sam the shield, and I hope in the Falcon and Winter Soldier show we get to see Sam fulfill that role. I love Bucky (if you couldn’t tell from my URL) and I loved him as Cap in the comics and I would love to see him as Cap in the MCU, but I really think Sam should take the mantle from Steve, at least for right now just because Bucky is really still healing from his memories of HYDRA and everything that happened with Civil War, and my baby just needs to rest at least a little bit

I do like that Thor is partnering with the Guardians, I really think they will be a great new family for him. And we were fed well when he crowned Valkyrie the king of Asgard, which is what she deserves. It does worry me that maybe we won’t see her again unless there is another movie with Thor in it, but it’s not really confirmed if Hemsworth is done with the franchise, so if this was it for her, I’m glad she got that ending.

So I’m still pretty heated about Steve and Thor and the fucking Joe Russo queerbaiting cameo, but overall it was a really good movie, and I think a good ending for most of the characters. It was a crazy ride but I am very much looking forward to Far From Home and everything that is to come, I think we have a great lineup of superheroes to fulfill the next phase of the MCU. And also, the America’s ass line was the best thing that happened in the movie.

Some Self-Reflection

Sometimes I think to myself -- and I know others must think this, too -- "wow, Oro/chi/maru and Y/ui Ko/mori are two very different people, how do those identities coexist in the same personality?"

Good question. I'm not entirely sure, but I can provide speculation, as I’ve been examining this quite a bit, recently. I assume this is a somewhat safe place to gather my thoughts, and reconcile two very distinct parts of myself. I apologize if this post is a bit haphazardly composed. It is off the cuff.

(Note: I will not be discussing Hiroyuki in this post. I may not ever discuss Hiroyuki publicly.)

I was tempted to borrow Freud’s model of the mind and ascribe Orochimaru and Yui to Ego and Superego, respectively, but the more I thought about it the more that line of thinking fell apart. Those identities do not fit in those boxes, but stretch between all three equally.

My awakening as Orochimaru was a long journey. I was barely familiar with otherkin and a close friend had opened up to me about being Nagisa Shingetsu. I had no connection with the community and wouldn’t until years later. So I embarked on that journey on my own and with the assistance of an individual I now refer to as a canonmate (even though I find that term somewhat incorrect for our relationship. I do not believe our bond was formed within our canons, but rather in this life in a way that has affected me deeply enough that I feel ‘sourcemate’ is too impersonal.), I discovered myself and settled in nicely. Rather deeply, in fact. I’m not sure whether this is a spiritual or a psychological foundation, but as time passes I find myself leaning towards my identity as Orochimaru being spiritually founded.

I am a curious being. I seek out experiences and information hungrily. Monotony can bore me, but I am not so shallow as to move on heartlessly from people. Puzzles, especially when those puzzles are people, are fun. This may be an unfortunate consequence of ADHD, but I lose interest in things, often quickly. Interests are fleeting and those that stick are cherished and held dear.

Sometimes I struggle to find my face. An aspect of ADHD called RSD is an influence that buries me deep to try to please others, for fear of rejection. Because when someone matters so much, you’d do anything to keep them from hating you, right? Anything to keep from messing it up?

I am familiar with scorn. This brain is particularly attuned to it, and will find it even where it is not. I struggle with this, as there are many people who would like to see my true face, and sometimes I lose it in the fear.

In terms of source parallels, I have:

- Been given up on - Scorned by my peers - Gone through a period of obsession with a singular goal - Had a thorough, decisive clash with a guiding figure - Rebuilt myself into a stable, comfortable state of being after hitting rock bottom

Orochimaru is who I am. Deeply, on a personal level, and I always will be. Even as Yui shifts become more prominent, I am Orochimaru.

My awakening as Yui was different.

In fact, I won’t even begin with Diabolik Lovers when talking about my awakening. I always had a fascination with vampires, since I was very, very young. It started with the Underworld movies and progressed as one would expect with a vampire fascination. Eventually, I got into Vampire Knight. Me and a whole group of friends did. In that way that young teenagers do, we each took up a different character as “ours” from it. I choose Yuuki Cross and I kept the name for years. In fact, vestiges of it still remain in my online identity. I eventually shortened “Yuuki” to “Yuu,” which is still part of the url of my main blog and I’ve only picked up “Merp” in the past couple years.

It definitely didn’t feel quite right, back then, calling myself Yuuki. There was something about it that didn’t fit, and I eventually did away with it, but of course she’s always been dear to me.

Now, to Diabolik Lovers. I watched the anime one day with a friend on a whim and we binged most of it. In waking hours, I had no real immediate connection to the show other than a morbid fascination. I had a dream that night, a vivid dream about a man who drugged me without me knowing, a simultaneously comforting and anxiety-inducing presence. I remember his fingers in my hair.

I still remember this dream. I went over it time and again. But that visceral dream stayed with me for years. I would stress about it. I would try to analyze it. It had been so emotional that I woke up crying. I wanted to hate the man in my dream but the only rancor I could muster was petty.

I found myself drawn to what I critically did not consider to be a good anime. I liked the boys. I liked the boys a lot. They felt familiar to me.

It wasn’t until years later, after I had already had my awakening as Orochimaru, that I was preparing to cosplay to a local convention and was describing the character of source!Yui Komori to a friend that I stopped mid-sentence and realized I’d used the same words -- exact same sentences -- to describe myself before. I had not considered that I could be anyone else other than Orochimaru.

This was an identity I had to consider for a longer time, as it doesn’t reconcile well with my past the way Orochimaru does. The closest parallel I can think of is parental abandonment. I did not have a very religious upbringing, mostly seeing church as a cool book club that I went to for fun until I realized everyone was serious, although nowadays I have found some faith again, but it is non-denominational and almost utilitarian, even teetering on agnostic at times.

I did eventually settle on the fact that I might be Yui Komori. I was unsure about the identity at first, because I, for the life of me, couldn’t pick out a significant attachment to any of the boys that wasn’t for them as a character.

Then, of course, I realized I was a dumbass. I don’t even remember the moment that the switched was flicked and I realized who I missed. I think I was just thinking about my reference albums on my (mostly unused) roleplay presets and looked at a Reiji sprite and got hit with a wave of yearning.

Further reflection and not taking that feeling for face value included a handful of different trains of thought. “A Certain Prophet’s Fate” is a song that has always managed to get me intensely hyped, even as far as pulling me out of dissociation. I have always been drawn to scientist-type characters. Shuu Iwamine. Szayel Aporro Granz. Sano Kojima. To name a few notable examples. But something was always missing. Something, something, something.

So I accepted the yearning for what it was. I missed someone. Someone I could probably find. Finding Reiji Sakamaki wasn’t the hopeless pipe dream that trying to find Sakumo Hatake is. It was something I could do.

For this, I made my Diabolik Lovers kin server, which was probably the most roundabout way I could’ve done this. I had very little expectations. My previous adventures with kin servers had been rather fruitless back when I claimed to be Sano Kojima before I knew the difference between a kintype and a c’link, and I’d been very disappointed by those claiming to be Akira Kojima.

I was a little surprised but, as stated, not expecting much when the man himself messages me asking for an invite. If you have any familiarity with the more serious and legitimate side of the Otherkin community, you probably know who I’m talking about.

I’ve been examining myself rigorously since, really. My job leaves me a lot of time alone with my thoughts, lots of time to get inside my own head and dig around. And I’ve found the parallels I was looking for.

The parallels are in my day-to-day, the person I am. The parallels are in joys of helping people, a preternatural clumsiness, a diligence, a dedication, often at the expense of my own health, which is somewhat of a flaw. The person I aspire and hope to be. A person that I believe I have become and may have always been.

I firmly believe this identity to be psychologically founded. I do not believe there is a spiritual aspect to this identity, which differentiates it somewhat from my identity as Orochimaru, which is how I reconcile the identities.

If I had to ascribe them into Freud’s model of the psyche, I’d say Orochimaru’s roots are in my Ego and Id, whereas Yui’s rooted in both my Ego and Superego. They each have tendrils in the opposite ends of the spectrum, as well. They tangle, they interlock.

Together, they make me. I am them. There isn’t a moment where I stop being Yui Komori. There are not days when I’m not Orochimaru. There are not days when I’m not Yui. It’s not determined by shifts. There are times when one feeling is a bit stronger than the other, but that’s just the reality of having multiple kintypes.

I am Yui Komori. I am Orochimaru.

... It feels really nice to have my thoughts in order.
