Welcome to the new people who found me through the radar! I've been meaning to do an intro post forever so this is a good time.

Hi, I'm Echo! I mostly use they/them but any pronoun is fine, I'm queer and autistic and I draw and I write fanfiction (and original things occasionally). This post will be pinned and is subject to change.

Fandom: My main current fandom is the Silmarillion, and by extension everything Tolkien. You'll find things on my blog from my previous fandoms as well (Witcher, Shadowhunters, Hamilton, etc) and from fandoms I occasionally dabble in (Leverage, Discworld, etc).

All Tolkien things are tagged with #tolkien as a meta tag. I have far too many WIPs but my niche in this fandom appears to be drawing and writing disabled characters, so you can check the tag #disabled tolkien characters for that (and also #queer tolkien characters).

My fics are all on AO3, though I post most one-shots and some longer fics here as well under #echo's fanfiction. I'm old and tired, and kids these days would probably label me a "proshipper" as I believe there is way more nuance to this entire thing than simply the black and white mindset that the internet & fandom communities have shifted to over time. I do not condone any taboo or problematic content IRL. But it is not my place, or my right to tell others what they can and cannot do in fiction/fantasy. It's unrealistic to believe that anything created that holds taboo or problematic content means the one who created it condones it IRL. This falls along the same kind of mindset mostly conservative parents spat that "violent video games make people violent", which we all know is not true. Censoring problematic content will not stop people from creating it. They will just create it where you cannot see it, which in turn could make it harder to find, and harder to stop when actual harm is dealt. Can fictional/fantasy content affect reality? Sure! I will never say otherwise. But to believe that it always does is, again, unrealistic, and assuming that most people cannot differentiate between the two. Fiction and fantasy were created for people to be able to entertain ourselves, and to explore topics that we never would, or were impossible, in the real world in the safety of our minds and spaces we created. The actions of those who use fictional content as a reason to do taboo and problematic things in real life is entirely on them, and they need to seek professional help for their paraphilias, or harmful actions. If something... - happens between two(or more) consenting ADULTS - makes someone happy - does not harm themselves or anyone/anything IRL ...then what other people do is none of my business.

so, nsft blogs are not pornblogs. "pornblogs" are accounts that are mostly impersonal, and very heavily show content that is extremely graphic and no other content. typical blogs i see post lots of thin, light skin, nude women or lots of content that clearly belongs to someone else (whether it be an independent swer or studio production). these blogs are violating the tos and community guidelines and risk being reported or terminated by the website itself.

bc i post lots of nsft, it only makes sense that i limit who i interact with (not reblogging from and blocking people under eighteen years of age). if someone has a description or pinned stating something like: nsft or kink blogs dni, then i avoid interacting and usually block that person to prevent accidentally interacting in the future. i never intended to strictly post nsft content, and i don't. this is a personal blog. i just try to maintain safety, respect, and limit my interactions to fellow adults around here.

i agree with kitttenteeth about not wanting older men lurking around and interacting, i also do not want that. i sometimes can't believe how many people i find that are closer to my age, that i have to block bc they are intentionally following and seeking much younger people... it's giving too "maps" for my comfort levels. though there are a few older people that have stuck around, it seems most have left for other platforms and got busy with work, kids, life, etc...
