In playing a game, we bring its artificial borders weight. In creating something, we inhabit that world to bring it life.

I started Handplates during a really difficult time in my life... no matter what happened, no matter how much things felt like they were falling apart around me or I was going to lose my mind or it all was just too much to bear, there’d always be another Handplates comic to do. Like clockwork that alarm in my head would go off and I’d get to work on the next one, no matter what was happening. It was always, always there. It’s hard to believe it’s been over seven years... a few more months to eight.

By my estimates, the next comic will be the last one. It doesn’t seem real, and when it does, it just makes me sad to think about... but I guess Undertale itself was about that too. How hard it is to let go, and when it’s time to say goodbye...

The Undertale characters are having a family dinner with their S/O's family. S/O's grandma starts to flirt with them, but not really seriously. They're charming them playfully. They are just charmed by their partner and want to know more. How do they react?

Undertale Sans - He's flirting back with a lot of puns. He's glad at least your grandma likes him and he will spend most of the dinner with her, chatting like they've known each other for years. Sans loves old people, they always have the craziest stories to tell. They're a good public for his old-fashioned sense of humor too.

Undertale Papyrus - He's playing along, blushing and pretending to be overwhelmed by the compliments, and playfully fighting to give the best compliment to your grandma in return. He's having fun. He loves your grandma. She's great to bitch on people with! They need to hang out someday!

Undertale Toriel - Being an old lady herself, they become besties in like an hour or so. Toriel is playing along and is having fun, flirting back with no shame at all. After an hour or so, they are both on her phone checking pie recipes and sharing cooking secrets, and then they both disappear to go cook something because now they have to absolutely try it! You're not seeing either your girlfriend or your grandma for the rest of the dinner lol.

Undertale Asgore - He's blushing. Your grandma is hitting right every time she's talking to him and he's getting a bit overwhelmed. You joke asking him to be careful because your grandma will surely steal his heart and he throws you the most distressed look either. Please don't encourage her??? Save him instead! He's a mess and the dinner didn't even start yet!

Undertale Undyne - Your grandma can't stop petting her muscles and Undyne actually doesn't care at all, simply flexing to impress her. You're not sure what you're thinking of all of this honestly. Undyne is playing along and is determined to make a best friend out of your grandma. When you bring the plates, you catch them talking randomly about how to make Undyne's scales shinier and you decide it's best to not listen more.

Undertale Alphys - Alphys is a bit shy around your grandma at first, but as she gets more comfortable, you discover she can flirt as well, really savagely and with no remorse. It's a cheesy flirt contest now, and you're just staring in shock, wondering what is happening to your socially awkward girlfriend. Alphys is excited the next time you tell her you're taking her to have dinner in your grandma's house. Your grandma has Alphys' number now and they're chatting all night long as well.

Undertale Frisk - Do I even need to mention how Frisk is flirting back, saying the weirdest things possible to make your grandma howl with laughter? Frisk loves the attention, they love your grandma and they will do anything to have a reaction. They never have a real human family, but you have the feeling it's about to change soon.

Undertale Chara - They're smiling to be polite, but clearly, they're not too comfortable with this, searching your eyes. You can see they're calling you for help, but, eh, you're just staring back. Your grandma is having fun for once, you don't want to ruin her fun. Chara can deal with this. You're going to pay back though, be careful. You owe them one.

Undertale Mettaton - You didn't know your grandma is a big fan of Mettaton. As soon as she starts to flatter his shows, you know it's so over for you. Mettaton forgot your existence and is all over your grandma, showing her all of his merch and signing things and slowly dragging her towards the exit as he absolutely wants to bring her to his set and to doll her up to present her in his next show. You're weakly trying to stop him but you know it's no use. Once Mettaton is decided to do something, he will do it, either you say something about it or not.

Undertale Gaster - He's distressed now. You told him to be nice to your grandma and not be a grunch, and he promised he would, but please... That's the third cake he has to eat entirely because your grandma thinks he's too skinny and he's going to get sick, he swears he's going to get sick. Can he please stop now? He can't do this for another hour. He's begging you now.

Undertale Grillby - He's a bit shy, and your grandma pressuring him to talk more about himself is starting to make him anxious. The fact she's getting closer and closer to him doesn't help either. She clearly loves to touch his flames, to the point she's sticking her entire hands in them even though Grillby is weakly trying to ask her to not do that. Please save him.

Undertale Muffet - Honestly, you're in shock after Muffet purposely gives your grandmother a free pastry, and then a second one as your grandma praises her. What's going on? Did your grandma just tame Muffet??? Muffet is never giving pastries for free, NEVER. Your grandma is just special you guess. You're so jealous actually.

Undertale Burgerpants - Your grandma just pet him and now Burgerpants is crying on her laps telling her everything Mettaton is doing to her and how he's going to have a mental breakdown if he keeps working there and your grandma is comforting him and telling him he worths more than this and that's she's going to sue that robot's ass for bullying her grandson-in-law. You're too in shock to say anything.

Undertale Flowey - Flowey is hissing and screaming but it's too late. Your grandma decided to fertilize him because his petals are not shiny enough. You wave goodbye at Flowey, promising you will remember him, as he's getting dragged in the garden. Flowey curses you and your descendants for twenty generations.

Undertale Gerson - He's laughing so much you have to ask him and your grandma to lower their voice volume. Gerson answers back that he'll shut up once you buy him and your grandma hearing aids lol. Your grandma approves and calls you a little brat for ruining their fun. You're defeated.

initial sleep-deprived thoughts on the february newsletter:

- some memes referenced: doobie ralsei, eric andre, everyteenagers, warthunder leaks, cdi mario

- weirdly enough the sans “your mom” valentine creating a recursion of moms is really reminiscent of the joke book physics book recursion lol. probably doesn’t mean anything but jic

- i doubt the amv character is alphys. she already has valentines with her undertale version sprite depicted, and her deltarune counterpart is more focused on superheroes than anime.

- furthermore, upcoming characters such as elnina and lanino and arguably the strange letter character were teased. so i personally think this is a new anime-themed character, probably from chapter 3 with its focus on TV

- wait i just realized this would match up with the anime case in the garbage dump too

- as for the strange letter. my gut reaction was like many of us GASTER CONFIRM??!!?11 but turns out i just misremembered “SHOW YOURSELF! DELTARUNE!” as “SHOW YOURSELF! DELTA RUNE!” so scratch that

- the most compelling evidence against it being gaster is definitely the japanese version not matching his katakana quirk. using contractions and no line breaks in the english version too

- if it is a different character other than gaster it’s at the very least an intentional red herring making us believe it’s gaster... like the gaster reading seems completely intended.

- if they aren’t gaster or a version of gaster then they’re probably a character strongly connected to him, considering the illegible writing and the disappearance and redaction of the letter

- speaking of which, i haven’t seen anyone bring up [REDACTED] yet, who also talks in wingdings (assuming gaster is mysteryman and not [redacted]). probably not them but could be relevant

- as wandydoodles pointed out it could also be the “YOU’RE EARLY!” character

- “squint your heart” is an interesting concept. not sure we’ll find out what it’s referring to for a good while though. unless it’s just the soul

- “THE TIME IS GOING AROUND.” interesting phrasing. seems reminiscent of “the world revolving” or “take a ride around town” somehow but who knows the significance

- “EVERY DAY IS A DAY OF LOVE, IF ONLY YOU BELIEVE IT SO. DO YOU BELIEVE IT SO?” this also could be vaguely important. like belief determines things into existence?

- i don’t have much to say about the “there was someone i wanted to help” “i seem to have forgotten who” part bc like with the roaring knight this is just setting up a plot thread with virtually no context whatsoever at the moment. it’ll form the basis of investigations going forward but there’s nothing really we can determine with the information right now imo. like with the existence of the bunker and such, it’s just asking a question.

- the only context we have is “don’t forget” as a main theme of the series in the music title, sans’ lab, or occasional references to the phrase like spamton, but that really doesn’t tell us much of anything yet - this is just one more instance of that.

- the only part that helps us determine anything about the speaker is maybe “YES, IT’S QUITE IRONIC, BUT I SEEM TO HAVE FORGOTTEN” which could imply the identity of the speaker is someone who is good at remembering, or whose job it is to remember or catalog things.

- “WAS IT MYSELF? NO... WELL, PERHAPS.” another interesting bit of dialogue that we really don’t have context for yet. though if this is some other piece of gaster this would be evidence towards it i guess

- “YOU ARE VERY ODD, RESPONDING OUT LOUD TO A LETTER.” uhhh this character seems to have the ability to hear our responses... and it’s odd considering the letter would already be written, possibly implying further timeline weirdness

- i’d also just quickly like to point out that it’s possible, if not likely, that this letter is addressed to someone other than us the readers. i doubt it but we do have some of the other valentines like ralsei or elnina/lanino as precedent that this could be written to another person

- “HAPPY NEW YEAR! OR, WAS IT THE OLD YEAR.” “NOW, PUT ON YOUR COAT AND WASH YOUR FACE! OR, PUT ON YOUR FACE AND WASH YOUR COAT.” this reminds me of the river person dialogue and the egg man dialogue and again, the whole cat state egg stuff in general

- according to reddit im not the only one getting unused string vibes off the “put on your face” line lol

- “NOT NECESSARILY IN THAT ORDER. OR, IN ANY ORDER AT ALL.” chaos confirmed??? (joking haha jk unless...?? but probably joking)

- “GOOD BY!” clearly means something and isn’t a typo given there are no typos in the rest of the letter... but i have no idea what. a pun maybe?

- the tense shift from present - “It’s a strange letter” “It’s more or less” “if you squint” “you feel you could understand it” - to past - “There was a sound” “the letter was gone” - is interesting and seems to support the cat state egg things yet again (“there is a man here” “there was not a man here”)

- actually... “Well, there is a man here.” “Well, there was not a man here.” “WELL, HAPPY NEW YEAR!” “WELL, IN ANY CASE,”

- overall i wonder if this character is associated with the past: an old timey letter, new or old year, the time going around, the character maybe having a good memory, the parent-y demand to wash up and put on a coat, and the shift from present to past tense?

- my crackpot first thought while first reading this (other than gaster) was “grandpa semi?” but that’s definitely not right lol

- they also might be associated with or affected by the timeline wonkiness going on: “HAPPY NEW YEAR! OR, WAS IT THE OLD YEAR.”, “THE TIME IS GOING AROUND,” the mixed-up order of coat and washing, the shift from present to past tense, and continuing a letter based on a response that hasn’t happened yet

Gaster: Many people are shocked when they find out that you two are together. You're so loud, talkative, and energetic! Which is the opposite of quiet, tired, and stern Gaster. Sometimes he has funny cute moments, but a lot of the time he's too tired to be playful. He enjoys you! He really does. He finds your warmth enjoyable and will often listen to you talk. If he finds out that you're bottling up emotions and you have a breakdown, he would listen to you talk and try his best to help you calm down. He feels bad that he never realized.

Grillby: Not many people know that you two are together unless you're with Grillby. He never talks about his personal life because he likes to keep them seperated from his work life… but he is very happy that you two are together. You make him so happy! If you come to visit him at work, he would listen to you talk a lot and nod along. You and Sans are his favorite customers… when he learns that you bottle up emotions and you have a break down, he would sit beside you and tell you that everything would be fine, you don't have to hide any bad emotion. Everyone has bad days sometimes.

Goopy: Yeah, you guys are so good together. While he's working, he might not talk to you much only because he likes to be mysterious while he's on the boat but afterwards, you have all of his attention. When you have your breakdown, he would tell you that he understands. He has the same problem with bottling up emotions, and he would try his best to help you calm down and from then on, he would most likely be >:( when he realizes you're bottling up emotions again.

Hearth: You two work really well together, I think! Sometimes he has to be pulled back from overworking himself, and he would listen to you if you tell him. He enjoys you talking a lot and will listen and respond. Now if you are bottling up your emotions and have a breakdown, he would have no idea how to react? He isn't good with emotions! He would shut his mouth in a tight line then get his little flares to go and bug you to help you calm down.

Ethereal: Ethereal is a skeleton that not many people know about. Or at least, they don't know a lot about him. You, on the other hand, is dating him! He enjoys being with you no matter how quiet or 'scary' he seems. He enjoys how playful and talkative you are. When you break down and he finds out that you've been bottling up your emotions, he frowns and thinks about everything. what should he say there? Instead, he doesn't say anything. He wraps you in his starry cloak and just holds you while you calm down. He hates when you're sad.

Phoenix: He's pretty shy so it might be hard for you two at first, but after a while, he loves how talkative you are! It makes him pretty happy. A lot of people ship you two and whenever he hears that, his glow always gets so much brighter and his fire becomes a more pinkish and yellow. When he finds out that you're bottling up your emotions and you have a breakdown, he asks a few questions after helping you calm down. He hates that you've been having to do that! Why do you? He's really confused :(

I HAVE THOUGHTS ABOUT THE MENACE

I had a day off from collage work and decided I'm in the mood to design the Jester boi we all love :>

[Here's the entire sketch page of me figuring out how I wanted him to look!]

1) Jevil is an entity of pure chaos, however he does not have the ability to affect the world around him (anymore). That won't stop him from breaking the laws of reality when it comes to his own body though. He shapeshifts quite frequently when he talks - often expressing himself by means of contorting his physical body in strange ways. Most of the royalty of the Suits Kingdom is used to this by now - however there are still those who become extremely disturbed by these actions - often leading to a monster fainting. Jevil loves toying with these individuals especially. Their reactions are just so funny - how can he not? He's smaller than most adult monsters (which is still somewhat tall human-wise) - but that doesn't matter since he can just stretch out his body to tower over individuals if he'd like to.

I changed his ears to horns to emphasize more on the devil part of his name - no real reason other than that haha

2) Jevil's wings are actually just an accessory - he doesn't really need them to fly or hover. He doesn't even know that other monsters with wings for functionality actually need to flap them to fly - he just thinks they're being funny. Sometimes he'll spread them open for dramatic flair or use them for emoting (like those rare times he gets startled) but mostly he just keeps them wrapped around himself as a makeshift cloak of sorts. He has bells attached to him almost EVERYWHERE - and yet you still don't hear him when he sneaks up on you. He's only heard when he wants to be heard.

3) Jevil is very much acquainted with Gaster - he is the monster that helped him escape the restraints he had over his powers after all, finally able to effect the word around him with his chaos magic as much as he did to himself - and yet he still insists on being an asshole. How rude.

4) Jevil is able to do whatever he wants to do now after being let out from his cell - and yet instead of shattering the concept of reality into liquorice flavoured pieces - he instead decides to tag along with a human child on their quest to help the Darkners form peace with the Lightners once more. He thinks it's a very amusing goal to have and would like to see how they would go about doing so (boredom will do that to anyone). Plus - the human child's got some chaos magic of their own radiating off of them somehow - so he's enjoying the vibe.

LONG OVERDUE ASKS FROM THIS 2022

Hey everyone 💦 I’m finally getting around to all these from this year... thank you to those who were checking in with me still 🙏❤ and hello to anyone who’s new! 👋

My brain decided one day to just hide away from checking everyone’s reactions to SwapOut, both here and on dA... I think that’s what happened ;; Because I remember feeling the moment my brain stopped. XGaster posting (handplates spoilers?)

You know, there are different levels of quality when it comes to stories. Specifically, stories revolving around Undertale. There are stories that don't leave out any detail, describing or showing every single one. The nuance that each character has, their experience and how it shaped them as a person, how it affects the decisions they make and the words they say. Their relationships with people or things, their reactions, behaviors, thoughts and feelings. Some people write everything very thoroughly, embracing the complexity of it all. While others just use the basic wireframe — the silhouette of a character. And every character has a story. ..Right?

XGaster is very interesting in this aspect. He lacks it. He has no backstory — some versions of Gaster may've been alive during the war between humans and monsters, which, obviously, left a mark on them. He hasn't experienced any of that, though. In fact, he has neither childhood nor youth: straight to middle adulthood. (Sure skipped a lot there, buddy) There's nothing that shapes him, to put it simply. He just suddenly appeared one day, already 40 or so. No experience, that's one. But no relationships either: he never served the Dreemurrs, never had sons, never connected with his colleagues or a certain bartender, never formed his opinion on humans. All of those are set to zero. He's not like any other Gaster, that's for sure. And it gets even more interesting! Well, now that he exists, he can finally catch up, right? Sort of. He provided Chara and Frisk with a loving family, himself with an assistant, and sat back. As a creator, he decided not to involve himself in the world of his universe too much. He's 'above' whatever's going on there, while other Gasters are concerned with breaking the barrier and things like that. Hence, he's distanced himself. Which certainly doesn't do his lack of relationships any good. Refusal to participate in the story won't help the situation at all. It's very peculiar. Created as a 'nobody', and he chose to stay one, preferring isolation. 60 years. (Yes, he did spend time outside of XTale, though I doubt it was fruitful. Probably preferred not to interact with others as much.) And it's interesting how timeline I and II him differ. How he became so cold all of a sudden. And I have this feeling that the important part was left out in the second episode of XTale.

While he may seem evil and completely irredeemable at first, he does feel regret and sorrow. Which makes me wonder. Did he have to mentally prepare for the first OVERWRITE? To do some mental gymnastics, maybe? Oh how I wish we'd gotten a glimpse of whatever was going on in that mind of his. Because a certain someone shares a somewhat similar trope.

Funny coincidence. However, XGaster is a ruthless, sadistic individual, unlike Handplates Gaster. There's definitely something wrong with him

Now that I think of it he's basically a combo of these two

A purple rip-off of Gaster with no story and little creativity. This probably bugs him. To what extent? I'm not sure. But it must be so, on top of the guilt, regret, fear of abandonment, and self-loathing for not being the perfection he strives for. Love 'em

These are the base designs, but I’ll include more details under the cut! Please keep in mind that at the time of me writting this, not all of Deltarune has been released! So I’m probably gonna get some stuff. Very wrong.

(I also haven’t thought as in depth about Deltarune as I have about Undertale, again because not all of it is out yet! So please, if I get something wrong in here that is like. Common knowledge. Please forgive me :,)))

Kev

Okay So big difference. They aren’t a scientist!

She still has her Doctorate, but ended up teaching High School math instead of working in any scientific fields.

Both of their kids have grown up significantly more!

MK’s in middle school, and Thetin’s off in college!

Yeah. Kev is still a bit of a grumpy gus.

They don’t HATE their job, but they don’t love it either.

Lot of paperwork. And not a huge paycheck.

The are involved in a lot of town stuff, though.

As for the Dark World… holy cow.

I don’t think she would really get it at first, and would be REALLY uncomfortable with everything.

I’m talking panic drop kicking anybody who comes near her.

They just want to get back home, take a shower, and go to bed.

Eventually though, I think she gets the hang of everything!!!

Oh yeah, and I think her, Aesop, and Alphys would probably bumble their way into a dark world together.

Which is fun.

I think Kev kind of declares themself the de facto leader in that situation (it’s more of a democracy but shhhh. Don’t let her hear you say that).

Yeah they kick some ass it’s pretty cool.

Aesop

She works at the middle school as a custodian.

Alphys and her are still friends!!!

Yeah. She’s actually doing decent. Not great. But decent.

She has her own little family, and while they occasionally have their problems, over all she’s decent.

In a dark world though?

Homegirl is having the absolute time of her life.

Seriously, she loves it. The magic, the environment, it all feels like something from a dream.

She just thinks it’s really nifty guys.

In battle, it’s really REALLY hard to get her riled up enough to hit somebody full force.

She’s more of a grapple kind of gal.

That being said, she’s a barbarian for a reason.

Get her mad enough and your ass is grass.

I think she really acts as Kev’s foil, keeping them grounded in times of peril.

And with Alphys? Those guys are buddies! I think they both are really interested by dark worlds, and bond over that.

Okay so for starters, she’s a nurse!

She just got out of college, and is working at the hospital.

It’s hella busy but she’s having a decent time.

Her bubbly attitude has mixed reactions from both the people she works with and her Patients. Some love it, some can’t stand her.

I don’t know why, but I think her and Gin fall into a dark world together.

I don’t know how I just think they’d have fun together.

Speaking of which, she’s an absolute CHAOS AGENT in the dark world

I’m talking side quests, accidentally burning shit down, just having a grand old time.

Again, public opinion is really split on her. Some think of her as a brave warrior, and others think she’s an omen of doom. It all depends on how recently she’s burned something down.

But yeah she’s having a good time.

Gaster

Okay full stop, I’m such a sucker for the Knight!Papyrus theory so. Yeah.

While I have my own theories for involving Papyrus in Deltarune, this is ASS!Papyrus! So I get to do what ever I want with this one >:)

Just kidding. Anyway!

He’s the knight.

Well. One of them.

I think there’s a couple running around, Kris being one of them (and Dess possibly being another but you didn’t hear it from me 👀)

Anyway.

Him and Sans moved to Home town recently to outrun the law because Gaster got mega fired from his last job.

That being a scientist.

Yeah. You can put the dots together.

Anyway, some way or another, Gaster figured out how to enter the dark world, make fountains, the whole Shibang.

He never had the redemption arc he had over here so. Um. Yeah. He’s still like that.

So intentions for reality as a whole? Probably not the best.

I don’t think he fully understands that he’s dooming the whole world. I think he’s just trying to get control over his life again in the worst way possible.

So yeah he’s. He’s a little fucked up.

Alphys

Okay! Homegirl!

You already know her whole deal in the light world, so I won’t go into it.

IN THE DADK WORLD HOWEVER.

I have. Some thoughts.

First off, she has these badass gauntlets that shoot Lasers out of them.

This scared the shit out of her the first time it happened.

I think she’s also super interested in how a dark world is even possible. Like the science behind it and stuff.

I think she really wants to try and document as much as she can about it but. Can never really get the right equipment down there with out of going all funky.

You being ONE camera down and next thing you know, you accidentally invented a gun.

Her and her gang get along pretty well, I think.

Her group could definitely be considered the most ‘heroic’ out of anybody in this list LMAO

They actually TRY to do quests and shit. Without to much property damage.

She can repair broken items!

But yeah that’s her and I love her.

Sans

Again, you already know his whole lightworld deal.

Convience store owner, local some guy, etc.

His relationship with Gaster is a LOT more strained over here (which is saying a lot)

He’s worried about why he rarely comes out of his room, but he’s also kind of pissed at him for just. Everything going down in their lives now.

This is amplified slightly in the dark world where he’s just like “I’m sorry you knew about this for how long? And you did what now???”

But then he drops it because he’s sans and non confrontational fndndndmd

Yeah he’s a bard.

He’s got a long trumpet thing that’s bigger than he is.

It is exclusively used for meme songs.

He kind of follows Gasted around because he doesn’t really know what else to do and is just kind of mildly horrified by it all.

Gets great gigs tho, creating intricate poems about the epic deeds of heroes such as “Suc Adic” and “Alloto Dix”

Gin

Yeah okay so this one’s fun.

Them and Alphys used to be roommates but ended up having a falling out and haven’t really talked since.

Gin ended up moving to the city, where they became one of those Bus Tour guides.

It’s not their dream job or anything but… well. It’ll have to do.

So they do that and all that jazz, but it doesn’t really pay the bills.

So they’re kind of forced to return to the town they grew up in to try and find something that will work.

And guess what! They end up meeting CG and have a ton of fun adventures in a Dark World!!

Out of the two of them, Gin is definetly the more chaotic one.

They would live in the Dark World if they could.

They have a similar deal to Gaster where the Dark World is just. It’s a better alternative to their life and it just sucks man.

They really, really hate that.

But yeah they’re mostly a force of good, if you don’t mind a bit of property damage while they’re at it!

i have a question about the new game.

in underswap do yo have to have the wisdom soul for gasters rout later when the routs are available? if so it would be good to know becouse i usualy use kindness, just so that i dont think im doing somthing wrong in my choises later.

loved the first part of the game! i think i went everywhere. i got the candle too. was it bad that i thought asgore might accidentelly poison me becouse of the buttercups that might be in the pie.....? i was so ready to die from poisening becouse he might not know if they where poisenus to humans. well thats before i considerd he had a human child before, so he should know how humans work.

Yep! WD is only available if you have the wisdom SOUL.

Papyrus is also dependent on SOUL TRAITS, and Sans will only be interested in a certain personality type.

Flowey is the only route (currently) that you can play as any personality or SOUL TRAIT. However, kind & patient SOULs will have an advantage in their “arguments” with him since they can unlock dialogue choices with him.

Haha considering what I did in UF with Tori I think that’s an understandable reaction. Nice if you to be ready to die for goat dad!

Okay so I am definitely saying this in a time where Gaster, The Mystery Man, is so unknown lol. That said, I was normal about him until I saw the not-released tarot card for him. Then I started reading fic as a joke and it all went downhill from there. And. Ok. I know we don't know ANYTHING about him, so me saying fandom takes are incorrect isn't quite fair, but I have a hard time thinking he's just 100% evil. Especially if he's a monster - made out of hope and love and all that jazz. Not saying that monsters can't do bad things (LOOKS AT ASGORE) but there's a lot that goes into that. Asgore did bad things because he was put in a bad situation, lost his family, and wanted to help his people. Alphys wanted to help people, but wound up doing bad things, too. I feel like a lot of fic and content I see for Gaster is just about him being super mega evil and Fucked Up which is fine but, like, for why? What made him act that way? I also love the idea of him just being an absolute goof. A real "Sans had to learn puns from someone" type character. And idk it's hard to have canon content about a character that uh erased themselves from existence lmao. That being said I'm not normal about him. I have 3 full fledged fanfictions about him - two I've started writing and one that I visit when I try to fall asleep and haven't written yet. If he is 100% evil that's fine load me up in the extractor baby I'm subject 01.

In the same way that I relate too well to Dante as being the haha funny pizza man as a coping mechanism to not acknowledge his own fear and depression, I relate WAY TOO WELL to Sans Undertale for the same reason. If my depression gets too bad and all encompassing I'm going to take a nap. While I used to have a healthy love of naps, they're now also coping mechanisms to avoid reality for me. Back when my anxiety and depression pretty much took over my life I would sleep forEVER. 18 hours a day if I could. I now also struggle with insomnia and sleep avoidance so it's like. I sleep in small amounts now and it's gotten to the point that I will 100% use my 15 minute breaks and my lunch to take a nap. The laid back jokey personality is very much who I am truly, but then there's also the Projection where I use that as a facade to avoid my problems/emotional trauma. And I'd say Unwillingly I have come around to him because, as I'm sure you know, in the beginning I was like I don't get this Undyne is the only hot character here what's going on why do people want to fuck this dude. And then I finally watched a play through and learned Everything and I'm like oh no he's so saaadd poor meow meow :((( sad boyyy sad!!! tragic!!! (and then The Fight happens and it's like oh uh hmm not examining my reaction to this bc i don't want to know what this says about me) Then I started reading fanfiction as a joke which ok can I say a lot of blorbos for me have come from me reading fanfic as a joke and then getting super into it??? LMAO. And now I've given myself the challenge to read as many sans/reader fics on AO3 that catch my interest and I still have 274 pages left lmAO.

Handsome Jack

Put him in more situations. Destroy him. I love him. I hate him. The reality is he could make me SO MUCH WORSE. He's handsome. He's a loser. I want more of his face to melt off. I want to chew on him like a chew toy. Jack is such a fun character to hate. He has so much charisma it's sexy but he's also so unhinged and, like, there's never been an option to fix him. I think he was born and from that moment on it's just been a collision course with absolute fuckery. He's such a caricature of a human, and if you're not the receiving end of his insanity it's so fun to watch.

Nisha

I love her. I want her to destroy me. BL2 said we need a character who can go toe-to-toe with Handsome Jack in terms of being an absolute disaster of a human being and then they delivered the most badass cowboy hat wearing woman they could. She is 1000% too good for Jack, and arguably Jack happening to her ruined her life. Rhys
