Too Many Tildes' Amazing Isekai Adventure, Chapter 1

(I'm going to regret this.)

My name is Too Many Tildes. I have dark, navy blue plating with white eyes and light blue tildes underneath them (hence my name~) My gamer headset is shaped like cat ears and I wear a fluffy pink feather boa with a very fashionable cyan tank top and night-sky themed pants. My nail extensions are painted red just like my :3 face and my feet are shaped like high heels. This is the start of my story.

It was a cycle like any other. I was admiring my collection of Catboy Pebbles images (A.N. if u dont know who that is get da rubicon outta here!!!!) Suddenly my homosexual overseer alerted me to something funny happening outside. I looked through the feed and saw... A METEOR!!!?????? And it was SHAPED LIKE A TRAIN?!?!??!!? And it was headed STRAIT FOR MY CAN!!!!!1!1!1!111!!1!11! I gasped right before the train struck me, exploding me into one billion pieces!!!11!! The world was going dark around me as my chamber shattered and I fell down. The last thing I remember seeing was flames surrounding my structure and the bright, beautiful sky.

"Hey! Listen!"

I groaned and opened my eyes. Omg!!!! I'm alive?!!?!?? I glanced next to me and saw... my overseer????

"Get up, catboi," it said, turning all different colors of the rainbow. I decided to just lay there instead until its feelers tickled my face.

"Hey~ Stop that~" I said, shooing the overseer away with my hand, but it just teleported to the other side of me.

"You can't sleep on the dirt in the middle of the forest," it said firmly. Forest? I sat up and looked around. Sure enough, I was surrounded by trees!!! But I also noticed... MY CLOTHES WERE GONE!!!!!1!!!!1111! I wasnt naked tho, just wearing horrible peasant clothes. BUT I DIDN'T HAVE P[ATNS!! All I had on wad a plain white cloak.

"Where da rubicon am I, oveseer~?" I asked. The overseer rolled its eye at me.

"Rude. I'm Ounce the Overseer. We're in the Iakesi forest," it explained. Iakesi forest? Id literally never heard of such a place. Though the name kinda sounded familiar...

My thoughts were interrupted by the rustling of the bishes. I stood up quicjkly, which was weird considering Id never stood on my legs before. It came so naturally to me for some reason. Three orange lizards emerged from the bushes, grinning at me. I hadnt realized until now how big they actually were.

"Oh shit, yellow lizards!" Ounce shouted and darted onto my shoulder. I thought they were ornage but whetever. They were wiggling their antennae s they approached me, and openned their mouths. Lizards weren't supposed to be this active, were they?

"Tildes you have to run the other way NOW!!!!!" Ounce yelled in my ear. I didn't know what tghe lizards would do to me but I wasn't going to stick around to find out. I turned tail and ran in the other direction. The leaves crunched underfoot and the trees blurred past me as I ran.

"This is just like that hit game PSMD!" Ounce said as I sprinted. I didn't know what the heck it was talkin about.

Suddenly I tripped and went tumbling down a slope I didn't even see. The foliage scraped against me as I flailed around. Then I collided with something metal with a loud BONK followed by an "oof!"

I locked up from my faceplant and saw purple?!??

"Ouch..." said the purple. I scrambled away and saw the purple was ANOTHER ITERATOR!!1!!!!111! I must have crashed into him and knocked him to the ground.

"Omigosh~! I'm sorry~!!! R u ok~???" I said quickly. The other iterator sat up and looked at me. He had funny asymetrical antennae and soft pastel eyes so beautiful I could get lost in them~

"I'm alright, I think..." He brushed some leaves off his rumpled dress. It was a really cute dress, tan with red rose patterning all over it and frills at the end of the sleeves. He was wearing an apron over it, with a cute little bow tied at the back.

"Stop staring," Ounce hissed in my ear. But where else would I look?

"What about you?" He asked. "You crashed right into me. Are you alright?" His voice sounded so soft and concerned.

"Um~! Ya~!! Just fell off a cliff running away from lizards haha~" I stuttered. The iterator gasped.

"Oh! Are you sure you aren't injured or anything?" He stood up and helped me stand as well. I blushed when he took my hand.

"I'm fine~ Just as fine as you~" I said smoothly, winking. One of Ounce's feelers slapped its eyeball. He seemed to freeze for a moment, eyes wide as he stared at me. No doubt flustered by my charming pick-up line.

"O-kay..." he said slowly, letting go of my hand quickly. He bent down and I noticed a woven basket tipped over on the ground. He must have dropped it when I crashed into him. Scattered all around it are... SHROOMS????? Omgosh, had I just bumped into a DRUG DEALER?!?1/!?!?

"Why do u have shrooms~!?" I blurted out. He flinched at my words, but looked up at me with confusion.

"W-what? Oh, I was gathering wild mushrooms. They grow around this time of year," he said, gingerly picking one up and placing it in the basket.

"They aren't drugs, Tildes, they're just mushrooms," Ounce whisper-yelled in my ear. I batted it away from my shoulder because it was being seriously annoying rn.

"Oh no~! I'm sorry I caused u to spill them~ Do u need help~?" I crouched down to help pick up the mushrooms but he quickly shook his head.

"No no, it's fine! It's okay!" He said. "It was an accident. I can get these by myself." Okay, well now I'm left feeling kinda awkward. I tried to think of something to break the tension as he placed the last of the mushrooms back in his basket.

"Hey~ I never got ur name~ I'm Too Many Tildes~" I said. He looked at me a little funny, but I couldn't figure out what he was feeling.

"I'm Nothing Well-Made," he said. "It's... nice to meet you... Too Many Tildes."

"U can just call me Tildes~" I responded.

"And I'm Ounce." the rainbow overseer appeared between us. Nothing startled backwards.

"Gah! A talking overseer?" he exclaimed.

"Uh~ ya~ dont ur overseers ever talk to u~?"

"No!"

"Please calm down," Ounce said gently. Nothing took a moment to compose himself, but he still looked totally freaked out by my talking overseer. "Nothing Well-Made, would you be willing to let Tildes spend the night at your shelter? She's lost, and has nowhere to go."

"Um..." Nothing glanced at me nervously. I was also reminded that UH HOW DID I GET HERE??!?!??? I THOUGHT I DIED TO A METEOR!!!!!!!!1!

"S-sure," he said, distracting me from my thoughts. Nothing beckoned for me to follow. "My cottage is this way."

The forest around us grew darker as we walked, probably from a combination of the oncoming rain clouds and night falling. Ounce stayed perched on my shoulder as Nothing led me through uneven terrain. He glanced behind every so often to make sure I was following. I liked that.

We finally came to a small copse in the woods. In it stood an run-down cottage shelter. It looked dirty, and it was covered in ivy and moss. A small, fenced-in garden was planted next to it, but I couldn't see anything planted in it at the moment. The cottage must have been very old to be in such a haphazard shape. Or maybe, it simply wasn't well-made. (A.N. see what I did there~? :3)

"You live here?" Ounce asked, zipping down next to Nothing. "How does this thing withstand the rain?"

"We put a magic seal on it that prevents the rain from damaging it," Nothing explained. "My boyfriend did most of the work though. He knows more about magic than I do."

I felt my heart sink down into the void sea. Nothing was already taken? Of course he is~ I thought. A cute boykisser like him would have trouble staying single~

Completely oblivious to my heartbreak, Nothing opened the cottage door wide and gestured for me to step inside. I entered with a lot less enthusiasm than I started with when I first met him. The inside of the shelter was small, but cozy. Everything was bathed in warm colors, and potted plants seemed to decorate every surface. A small love seat was positioned in front of an inactive fireplace, and the kitchen was so small that it would struggle to fit two people inside. I didn't see a bedroom anywhere, so I could only assume it was upstairs, seeing as there was a small staircase leading to a second story.

"Woah~ Ur place is so cute~" I said as Nothing followed inside and closed the door.

"Thank you," he responded nervously. "F-feel free to make yourself at home on the sofa. Is there anything I can get for you?"

"You got any water~?" I asked. I was getting pretty thirsty by that point.

"Of course! Ice or no ice?"

"No ice pls~"

Nothing walked into the kitchen to prepare the water as I went to have a seat on the sofa. It was a nice, soft sofa. I wondered how often Nothing and his boyfriend got to cuddle in front of a roaring fire. Must be nice~ I thought.

As I sat, I could hear Nothing and Ounce talking quietly in the kitchen. I couldn't make out anything they were saying though. I wondered if Ounce knew how strange it was for me to suddenly appear here, off my string. Nothing was also off the string, assuming he had one. Odd.

Nothing walked into the living room with two glasses of water and handed one to me. "It's filtered water," he said. He unplugged something from behind his head - some kind of long tube - and put the end of it in his glass. I suddenly realize I had no clue how to drink water.

"It's a water intake tube. You have one too," Ounce whispered to me. I put my hand behind my head and felt around until I brushed over something thicker than a wire. I pulled at it, and the end of the tube came loose. I put it in my glass of water and automatically started drinking, cooling me off.

"So~ Where's ur boyfriend, Nothing~?" I ask innocently. Nothing stiffens, and Ounce glares at me.

"Um," he stutters. "Well, he's not been home for a while. He's-"

Nothing is cut off by a knock on the door!!! OMG IS IT HIS BOYFRIEND!?!?!??!??! Find out next chapter!!1!!111!!1!1!

i love how smoothly its written, like everything just flows nicely, the scenes and dialogues, its like those nice cozy well directed movies that you watch with pillows and blanket and rested face, body and mind. its only been 3 chapters, obviously the suspense wouldnt make me grip my pillow yet but its already made me clutch my blanket/pearls lol

LW&Co Series Commentary - Ep 8: "Not The Eternal"

Here's the rewatch commentary that no one asked for! Take a shot every time I say "erasure". Context: my 2nd time watching the show, but first time post reading the books

Talking more about The Four Chimes AU because yes

so there’s been an interesting surge of apocalypse four (though most people call them vecna four) content recently, which i am very much thrilled to see

in line with that, i’m gonna share a bit more on the au that has been built from the ground up ever since last year, having definite arcs and various aus and sub aus of it already

the four chimes au

this universe has been mine and @lumaxramblings 's blood, sweat, and tears for the past year, ever since July 14

i've made a few posts about it, and shared some snippets on it in some wip weds and weekends, but i never fully explained the universe beyond the little bubble of the discord thread in the discord server im in

so let me explain now. we know this already but the apocalypse four are vecna's four sacrifices to make the four gates, but in this au, they're not just the four sacrifices. they're the four chimes too.

you see, vecna had a vision. he had remembered the story of the four horsemen of the apocalypse from a time victor creel had brought him and alice to the Church to listen

the four horsemen of the apocalypse, he had mused...and inspiration struck him.

he had a vision, and he saw it through.

and he got them all. he won.

and now he has his four horsemen of the apocalypse, or in this universe rather...his four chimes of catastrophe.

you all know who they are, but the question is, who is who? well, as @lumaxramblings has said in that fateful ask that started this whole universe in the first place, it would be:

chrissy = famine

fred = death

patrick = war

max = pestilence

as for the reason, canon itself gives some details and evidence to point out who would be who. (tw ed mention on chrissy's part)

chrissy is famine because of her eating disorder and her "hunger" to be free in a sense. fred is death because of his survivor's guilt and all the constant grave and death visuals. patrick is war because of his home life and how he's always in constant conflict. and finally, max is pestilence because of her thought process on being something that plagues others...and vecna!lucas' "you are sick."

there's quite a few more points that can be brought up, along with how some of the canon scenes actually fuel this universe, but i'll talk about that another time

so now, vecna's sacrifices are no longer who they were before everything.

now, they are his soldiers, his little experiments, his four chimes of catastrophe.

and just as they had been broken, they will now be the ones to break the world.

...

(but then...you remember, the apocalypse 4 weren't the only ones who got caught in vecna's curse and vision.

you know who else did?

nancy wheeler.

and in the four horsemen of the apocalypse lore, wasn't there something going on with the white rider of the horsemen? the fact that...there's a bit of confusion on whether the white rider is pestilence...or conquest?

...in another universe, nancy is conquest, the fifth chime of catastrophe.

an incomplete chime.

...but maybe that's a story for another day...)

i actually had started the fic of this already, but it's been a few months since i've updated it, oof :")

anyway, that's a bit of an explanation on the four chimes au.

it kind of becomes a s5 alternate universe in a sense? finnthony and i already have an idea on what happens all throughout the main story, complete with arcs already lmao (and that's not even talking about the sub-aus, like the conquest au...)

its lots of angst though, lemme tell you

i dont want to reveal too much but there is a lot of platonic and romantic dynamics here

platonic being the party's friendship (heh), the teens' friendship, best friend soulmates stobin ofc, and all other platonic relationships that can be connected with each member of this ragtag, traumatized group

for romance, we got lumax (with future elumax), byler, duzie, ronance, stongyle (aka steve x jonathan x argyle), jopper, and...well. a few others too, but i'll be keeping those quiet for now.

i’ll likely post more stuff at some point, to get it out here lmao and because this au is just <3

Thoughts on Fashion Dreamer Day 1

Since the game received close to no marketing outside of Japan. I love fashion games and I want this one to do well too.

I played all the Style Savvy games before (almost 300 hours on each of then oof) but I ll try not to compare with Fashion Dreamer too much since the concept is different.

Apologies in advance for the mistakes (English is not my mother tongue)

What I like so far:

- Getting lookits from other players and giving some to them! I love seeing everyone's creativity

- There's SO many options to design a logo!! I spent too much time making them haha

- Visiting other's showrooms feels fluid. Its fun to just change try an outfit on a mannequin and walk to another showroom, like a carousel.

- The photo mode offers a lot of options. I like being able to take a picture anywhere. Also you can take vertical pictures for a better composition! Or just use the random button to have your muse in a dynamic pose.

- I love the idea of unlocking color palettes and using them to design clothes. There's some color theory in there... Also having reommendations is nice for indecisive people.

- It's rewarding to see the earrings I designed on the trends board. Then I found them again on a mannequin in another muse showroom. My muse tried the whole outfit (that was styled to match the the earrings I designed) and it was SUPER cute! I took pictures to remember that moment. I dont think there's any game that offers this kind of experience.

- Not having to manage a budget and getting items for free it is a fashionista dream haha.

- The animations and the models look nice! I was also afraid of EVE looking cold and empty (like the EDEN in Digimon Cybersleuth) but I was pleasantly surprised. I also havent seen anything clip though the models? (Anyone an expert on that lol?)

What I like less:

- Search function could be better. I want to be able to search by pattern and color!

- There's a bit of a performance issue when you have a lot of clothes. Hope this gets fixed in the future.

- Not being to zoom in clothing when dressing up is... Odd. Because you can zoom on the ones you design.

- Its super easy to get likes (I dont know if its the case for everyone). What bothers me is you get a notification for EACH likes. Im the kind of person that deacrivates most of my notifs on my cellphone because I find them intrusive.

- I hope they add runways, handbags and the possibility to share pictures with other players. And it would be fun to suggest makeup or hairstyles to other muses!

Game is pretty addicting, Im gonna play more for sure. I really needed a good fashion game for the Switch!! Its not Style Savvy but if I miss it too much, I can always power up my 3ds.

Maybe I ll write another post about Fashion Dreamer as I play more. Who knows :p Dont hesitate if you have questions!

ive seen the hate and slander for himeno on all platforms first hand. let me get some things out of the way first:

i do not defend himeno, nor her actions regarding denji. there is no defending that. it is what it is.

i can speak more on what ppl target her for though, bc i think its interesting.

(DISCLAIMER: opinions, in this case mine. no one has to agree with me. i have a lot to say but if you're not willing to listen and don't care about my pov, kindly move past this post. thank u)

the vast majority of ppl hating her that ive seen and/or interacted with online always find a way to get aki involved into the conversation. that's bullshit and i wanna speak on it before i touch on anything else.

aki is around 22 years old.

there is a tiktok here from one of my fav creators breaking that one down since a lot of ppl misread his introduction scene and thought he was 19:

with that said and done, there is nothing weird about aki and himeno whatsoever (ive seen ppl hate her for getting him into smoking which, ig fair, but lets be real for a sec and realize that even not knowing the spoilers, its pretty safe to assume that lung cancer is not what's gonna take them out). aki was around 19 when they met, which makes him a minor, but there was no hints whatsoever about himeno liking him until later on.

she didn't "watch him grow up" or "groom" him. she is in love with him in the present, when they are both of age. she knows aki has feelings for makima and doesn't cross any boundaries as we see both her and aki are comfortable being close with each other and initiating contact.

with the aki bullshit done, let's go back to the real thing: denji.

again, what himeno did to denji is inexcusable. there is no way around it. the fact that she was drunk doesn't serve as an excuse bc she still very much is the adult in the room and should've been more responsible.

i want to however talk about the terminology.

groomer.

a groomer is someone who builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them.

^ this is copy pasted from a dictionary. ring a bell? yes, that's literally makima.

himeno on the other hand did none of those things to denji. her offering him a kiss was more of a joke than anything else (plus she didn't know he was 16 back then) and she never had an ulterior motive for getting close to him.

im actually fairly certain that ppl call her a groomer more regarding aki than denji bc aki is the one she's known for a longer time and has had an effect on. i won't go back into this. utter bullshit. aki is not a child and himeno is not manipulating him. next.

the pedophile allegation is a bit of a rougher one to talk about. himeno initiated this playful flirting with denji at the start of the eternity devil arc, not knowing his age. she said explicitly right after that she "loves teasing boys" which implies that it was more a joke than anything else and considering that we proceed to get numerous flashbacks that let us know how deep her relationship with aki is and how genuine her feelings for him are, we can safely assume she does not give a fuck about denji.

the actual act that brought on the "pedophile" term happens when she is drunk. this, again, does not excuse her but i think can speak volumes about her state of mind. we know she gets extra flirty when she drinks and by the time the kiss happens she's tried to outdrink makima which means she's literally hammered. she is also drunk, significantly less but still, when she finds out denji's age. we know she is present enough for that info bc she remembers it the next morning when she brings it up, but again i dont think processing and comprehending information works just as well when you're half a dozen draft beers in. i dont have something more solid to say about this besides: she was really drunk and made some really bad choices bc she is irresponsible, flawed and generally messy as a person.

i dont feel comfortable calling her a pedophile. it doesn't ring that true to me. i dont think she is genuinely attracted to denji or would want to have sex with him while sober.

she knows it was wrong the next morning and she brings it up. that also shows that sober and with a clear mind she doesn't feel the same way.

the act itself is still horrible and inexcusable, but i think her thought process matters when it comes to assigning terms to her.

at the end of the day, i cant fight the ppl who do call her a pedophile. she did in fact attempt to have a sexual encounter with a minor. end of story. i mostly went into depth about this to talk about the aki thing bc it keeps popping up.

as for me, i choose to not erase her entire character over that one scene and reduce her to what ppl see her as. her arc is very well-written. SHE is very well-written. i keep recycling my words from my other posts but i think she is a perfect reflection of the universe she is in. we know she drinks and numbs everything out. we know the kind of dependency she has when it comes to aki and how it can cloud her judgment. she is very messy as i said and fundamentally flawed. but i loved seeing a broken character.

in a series like csm where denji can get cut in half and get back up to fight, its important for me to have characters like her to make u rly feel the impact of living in a world like this.

also the easy revenge storyline was dope as shit.

that's all about my thoughts on this, ive beem wanting to articulate them for a while, thank u for giving me the chance !!

9/10, definitely much better than the second one. Too much abelistic pity, though, so a point removed. I don't have any complaints for this book aside from that, really. Spottedleaf was mildly less prevelant this time, which is good. Tigerclaw's evil reveal and exit were cool, and silverstream's death hurt me way more than i thought it would. Overall, good.

i'm in agreement with what you've put on your blog about hermitcraft not being an rp server- it just isn't and i'm kind of sick of new age mcyt fans treating it as such. i am curious though about where you draw the line (or even if you do draw a line) between rpf and "character" fanfiction. as you've mentioned, fans are the ones taking the improv bits in videos, creating their own "lore" out of it, and shipping those characters together. obviously, the lore characters are very much linked to their youtuber counterparts, but it's not like most hermitshippers want the real life grown men and women to kiss each other or even are referring to the actual flesh and blood youtubers in their fanmedia (the term cubito from spanish mcyt/qsmp folks comes to mind). do you personally consider this to be rpf?

the rpf topic in this situation is veryyyy hard to make a conclusive answer on and the one i make is one i think people shouldnt take as fact, everyone can decide personally what it means for them. my constant mindset, due to the subjective thoughts, just ends up being "is it rpf? maybe. i dont know. i dont care anymore" but i can explain more of what i really do think

considering i came from 2011~ minecraft youtube there was no concept of "characters" for youtubers outside of blatant series like... shadow of israphel and a bit later, lords of minecraft. there was nothing comparable to what we have today in terms of roleplay. they were still The Person just in minecraft and many of us back then, myself included, called it rpf. and we even wrote fics outside of the minecraft settings-- we wrote stuff in the real world, but it all just looked the same to us because we did not have any separation between a person and a character made out of them. it was the youtuber to me, whether or not i throw them into a lore heavy high fantasy AU (which i did lol), it did not come off any different to me than the fics written about them chilling at minecon.

i took a number of years away from this fandom and so the change like... oof it was a lot to understand. it confused me a lot (still does), i did not at all get this idea of separating them into their own character. the thing is, the extent to which people do so is again, subjective.... but for the most part the point nowadays is to say its not the Real Person at all anymore, even if the difference is only that there is absolutely no mention of the outside world and it is often heavily enforced to remember it is Not the real guy.

and thats where it just gets complicated. whenever i write i always generally imply its a game. and if its not a game i still think of it as guys playing a game. they are behind a screen and i may even reference the real world. so for me? yeah, its in the vein of rpf if we're looking at it that way. people who create a fictional realm with the guys made into characters that fit into this crafted world, well i guess its not... or is it?

the whole topic of saying hc isnt roleplay isnt to scare everyone into realizing they were writing rpf the whole time. but kinda to say- one stop being afraid of the label rpf. and two honestly i define "rpf" fandoms as a fandom built around real people. mcyt is built around real people. no matter how much you do make a character out of the youtuber its still in many regards.... the youtuber.

so yeah this isnt a conclusive answer some may want. short: it is always rpf because i define rpf as being a fandom based around real people. when it comes down to specific content (headcanons, fics, art) its totally fine and makes sense to not consider it that individually but in an overall sense i would categorize it as such because i also grew from an mcyt fandoms who saw it that way

Favourite Movies of 2022

It's almost the end of the year; which means it's the perfect time for me to look back at the awesome things of 2022. Over the next few days I'll be compiling lists for my favorite movies, shows, games and music I had the pleasure to endulge in over the last 12 months, beginning with the motion-picture category. You could call it my oscars? (please dont) I took 45 new releases I had the opportunity to watch and simply chose those which stood out to me, those which I never stopped thinking about, those that have stayed imprinted on me.

So sit back, relax and take a look at my 7* favorite movies of the last year. ↓

The Batman

What a movie! If there was one must see movie for me, this entire year it was The Batman. Being a huge DC fan, I was always going to be looking forward to a new take on the caped crusader, but hearing Matt Reeves (the man behind the Planet of the Apes trilogy) was inspired by Se7en and Zodiac, it couldn't come soon enough. The Batman is unlike any previous incarnation before it. It's real. It's gritty. It's dark and brooding. Roberts Batman is angry, rough and emotional, something the movie's villain (portrayed briliantly by Paul Dano) uses to his advantage. My memory of this movie is it's tone. The red hue's running through every scene. That eerie, drum heavy score that never let's up. And THE batmobile; a character in on itself (a scene I wont forget anytime soon). I can't wait for what this team come up with next, but even if it fails to deliver I am thankful I got to experience this at the start of this year.

Top Gun: Maverick

Top Gun: Maverick was always a movie I was going to see. The first trailer sold it to me immediately. Knowing the madman that is Tom Cruise would probably be doing all of this for real, was the icing on the cake. Having seen it though... this is cinema!

Unlike many other movies that really win me over with their story, Maverick was pure emotion for me. I only really remember 3 scenes but those 3 scenes made me feel things that shouldn't be allowed at a movie screening. Mach 10? 😨 Tom Cruise deciding to break the Mach 10 speed limit with a crazy futuristic jet. Pure adrenaline, with some of the most beautiful scenes of the entire movie. 2m 15s of ego 😲 An exquisite display of pure skill by Maverick. From the jet tickling the mountains on it's side, to Maverick pushing the jet past its boundaries while threading a bomb through the eye of a needle; I don't think I took one breath during the entire scene. OOF. Jet jiu-jitsu🤯 The best way to describe this scene is. Imagine if Tony Hawk knew how to fly a fighter jet and it was possible to do a 180° kick-flip using one. And then it happening. It's a must watch.

RRR*

RRR* is absolutely bucknutty. This 3+ hour extravaganza was probably the most confused I've been all year. A B-movie with the confidence and swagger of the best blockbusters of yesteryear. A movie that can't be described, only experienced. With that, I'll simply jot down some of the highlights one might expect when watching RRR* - Man fights tiger 🐯 - Man vs a 1000 person rebellion ⚔️ - A shoot-out with a one man on anothers shoulders while wielding guns 🔫 - Saving a child, while diving off a bridge with a flag 🇮🇳 - Walking underwater 🤿 - Animal fight club 🦁 🆚 🐯 🆚 👨 & I'm sure there are more that I can't remember. I know I'll be rewatching this regularly, but will you?

Bullet Train

They say immitation is the sincerest form of flattery and Bullet Train directed by David Leitch (of Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde) fame delivered a Guy Ritchie inspired, non-stop action thrillride. Bullet Train is entirely driven by its witty dialogue and awesomely convuluted story, fronted by a madcap cast of characters. Among the crop we have Lemon 🍋 and Tangerine 🍊 (brothers) that just happen to be assassins (crazy ones at that) with a love of Thomas the Tank Engine. The movie knows when to be funny and when to simply mesmerize you with an awesome set-piece. It's over 2.5 hours long but never feels like it, quotable for days and has Michael Shannon. What more could you want?

Nope

I cant remember much about Nope, but I do remember the unnerving feeling I had while watching it. Jordan Peele crafts a delightful story thats the right amount spectacular as it's creepy.

The way the narrative is presented as a mystery that was initially hidden in plain sight really worked for me; with the reveal of the alien being only the beginning. Yet it was Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluyaa that really sold the film for me (playing brother and sister) and how their relationship and trust in one another evolved throughout the film. It was so cathartic seeing them succeed right at the end. From the allegories to the metaphors, Nope is a movie you need to watch and let simmer in your mind - only then will you know how you feel about it. For me it was well worth my time.

The Menu

I think Kitchen Nightmares might be masquarading as The Menu. The most recent film on this list, was one I knew little about and little did I know how much I would enjoy it. The premise is simple. Ralph Finnes plays a world renowned chef, who happens to invite a select few guests for his new tasting menu. From there the story unravels like an onion, with each layer taking us deeper and deeper into the sinister underbelly of this restaurant. Each character; from the start-up bros, to the down on his luck actor to even the staff members give us a peak behind the curtain and the maddening that ensues. The less you know the better but be ready for a mighty good time.

Decision to Leave

Like clockwork... there it is. As the year was coming to a close, no korean movie had really grabbed my attention in the last 12 months; but then came Decision to Leave. This movie, quite honestly had me confused. I watched it across 1 night in 2 parts, having to rant and rave to @the-loose-braies to try and compute what I was watching. The creative acrobatics Park Chan-wook had to do in this movie (with his cinematographer and editor) deserve a round of applause 👏. Every transition and every scene are delibrately constructed, with the director using reflections and camera trickery to constantly shift our perspectives through the two main characters, even changing the color grading based on mood (without any of this ever looking out of place). This is the first time since watching Mr. Robot where I actually became engrossed by the DIRECTION of a movie. PCW somehow managed to craft a movie, that essentially is a love story, but tac on some deliciously violent fight scenes, chases, clever comedy and poetic dialogue. It's the one movie this year if regularly thought about and that says a lot. If you havent watched it, give it a watch as its well worth it. *At this moment in time I'm yet to have seen Broker or Glass Onion so they might sneakily be added to the list at some point.

≫ he doesn’t really care, at least until he finds someone he’s actually interested in (depends also a bit on how his “research” went), waiting until marriage is just a social construct that he doesn’t partake in, why would he let traditions dictate what he does?

venti (who is in my eyes an adult) is uhhh… has uhhh… idk i can see this going two ways: his archon appearance gives a very angelic/ innocent vibe, like he’s just that pure but we all know venti…he’s not; he’s still lived for 2000+ years, so i don’t think it’s a stretch to say he has some experience but it’s hard to estimate a body count, i’m drawing a blank here

≫ on one hand, there’s his child-like demeanour and appearance but we’ve seen there’s so much more depth to his character, so i don’t think you can just write him off as naïve and inexperienced; on the other hand, he’s the god of freedom, do with that what you want

kazuha is too cool to be a virgin lol; but for real, he just gives me those chill vibes where he’s not really trying but people just flock to him; it’s not like he initiates it, he just kinda goes with the flow, idk how to explain it but i get these certain vibes from him that i can’t shake

≫ as i said, go with the flow kinda guy; not desperate for some action but also not bound by traditions or family to wait until marriage (he travels teyvat by himself, he can do what he wants)

xiao… yeah, karmic debt said no; considering his past, his current duties and his behaviour towards both mortals and adepti, i don’t think he’s been able to be that vulnerable with anyone (yet), he also doesn’t want anyone to possibly be affected by his karmic debt

≫ mortal concepts like marriage hold no real meaning to him anyway, so that’s not the obstacle here; much like kaeya, i think it’s emotional intimacy he seeks more than just physical pleasure, it would require a whole lot of trust for him to give himself to someone so openly in this way

OOF there's so many mobile games I'm listing so prepare yourself

BATTLE CATS is the shit. Tough levels at points but there is a semblance of progress to be had. They added a lot of events and extra shit so it might be overwhelming for new people. i have no idea tho I barely started playing it again.

I'm a lover of the solitare genres (klondike and spider) but ugh the ads. I really only like them for the virtual customization of the themes that desktop comps dont provide enough of and having something offline to play on the go. ive been getting better at the four suit spider games, tho- i can feel my brain learning. 😁

Bingo games are fun! I don't have any one in particular I like the best, tho. Been a while since I played them.

Tinker Island 1 has great progression and you have the opportunity to collect the paid currency constantly, building up your gem vault. I like the garden minigame more than the actual gameplay XD.

I like Marvel Puzzle Quest for the match-3 gameplay with the marvel aesthetic. I'd recc. to play this one casually because progression is nonexistent with AND without $.

On the topic of match games, Bejeweled is a classic. 😊 I loved the butterfly rescue one back in the day and poker version was fun too- the tension is just MWAH.

Grand Summoners is for some reason spending a lot of money in ads because I'm seeing it everywhere despite having it on the exact device I'm seeing the ads on??? I'm not saying it's a problem it's just odd, lol. Micromanaging gear and teams will implode your brain but there is some strategy to it, even if you try to auto everything. They have crossover events all the time, on top of progression being kinda slow but still possible, and I'm quite happy with unexpectedly pulling a Hatsune Miku and evolving her. 😊

I would recc. trying out Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links out for a test run to see if the grind is up your alley. Very generous with rarity tickets the last time I played it.

For another simple game, billiards are fun too, and easier to play digitally than in real life, lol. You will be playing against other humans all the time, tho.

Injustice 1 or 2 and Marvel Contest of Champions have their own pros and cons, but both are finger-input fighting/brawl games with IPs so it depends on asthetic and progression i guess? If I had to choose tho, I would say Injustice is more organized in its content than Champions if that makes any sense?

Best Fiends is a cute and neat lil' bubble draw and pop game that has some progression to it, but it's been a while since I played it. Surprising for me that I even like this one since the mascots are cartoony insects.

Color Puzzle is a gradient-building/color-matching puzzle game. I played it during my art class and it made me more aware of how colors react next to each other though it can hurt your eyes.

Visual novel story/chapter games are ones you need to curate yourself to figure out which one you'll want to sit through. Chapters has sexual/explicit stories but a beefy reward system compared to Choices from what I remember, plus community engagement/contests. This likely could have changed now- I haven't checked. Other apps have (slightly) animated characters/establishing shots and some are more customizable in the protagonist and reputation systems (romance or otherwise). They all blended together in my mind like a big soup of colors, but i will tell you that the paid currency choices are never worth it.

(Pixel) Color-by-number games are fun pastimes until they hurt your eyes and drain your device battery.

South Park Phone Destroyer was fun for a bit. Until it wasn't.

Dream Girlfriend is the best Ambition gacha/character simulation game they have, prove me wrong.

side note: have you ever played a mobile game that got deleted? one that was solely a play-to-win that was also fun in general and you were close to maxing out your characters? yeah, it's worse than the pain you feel when you discover your fave fic has been deleted from the internet😢

albinnaux is like a failed griffith from berserk. both of them committed hard to childhood dreams beyond the reasonable point where everyone else would have given up and albinnaux did eventually give up but not before costing him almost all that he'd worked for. and like asogi kazuma, determination made things worse but continuing past the point where they should have tried another approach and its only after he gave up that things got better.

I was talking about how shipping does not come naturally to me. i don't see any character in a romantic or sexual light until im externally exposed to it, its just not the default. long term exposure or the work works hard to convince me, thats usually what it takes. The only ffxiv ocs that are in relationships are the ones where the core concept im exploring is the relationship itself like noyu and lau or cynng and maud, otherwise while i conceptually know most of them have dated in the past like mathilde or cookie or yvontel i can only really think about it in the vaguest sense unless i put a lot of effort into it.

at which point reversalsun said "I think you should ship alby with Jannequinard" and that caused me so much psychic damage that my brain went into overdrive for like 20 minutes. i love janne he's one of my favorites, what a pathetic man, but he's... yeah.

albinnaux likes competence and janne is ... the exact sort of useless noble brat albinnaux thinks is the scourge of ishgard. also you know they know each other right? its like seeing that idiot you knew in middle school and he's still an idiot. oof yeah im struggling you picked pretty good opposites the one similarity is that neither are traditionalists although albinnaux pretended or at least gave plausible deniability while in ishgard. does he even like men??? i can say that pre arr albi would hesitate being seen with janne because of the possible reputation hit by associating with an eccentric slut. reputation would also be why he never befriended haurchefant. stephanivien's high status makes it less risky. he'd probably like laniaitte actually if privately thinking her not ambitious enough. also in my first draft janne and albi are first cousins. i like half ditched the house durendaire idea though so idk where that stands. this fact i only remembered because i thought about how funny it would be for albinnaux and carvellain to meet in limsa. i originally made albinnaux a durendaire because i thought it would be funny and also for the family drama. but as i build his story i realized i would make more sense for him not to be from the big 4.

of the npcs albinnaux would most likely date minfilia. she's someone who believed in him at his lowest (patch 2.5?) so it was the right time and place. and i think their personalities are pretty compatible. with albinnaux you need someone who can bend and give to meet him but will also hold their ground when its important. albinnaux is cold on the surface and runs hot deep underneath. minfilia has a mild demeanor and strong convictions so i think she'd be able to meet him where he is. like when albinnaux isnt playing nice to cosy up to someone in power his natural demeanor is a little prickly and not a lot of people can handle it which is why he often hides it. as much as he's been burned and embittered albinnaux has also had a strong moral core so he attracted to people with strong morals and ideals who care about things like justice and the greater good. more generally because of his repeated failures he admires people with strong convictions and high competency. he would never admit any of this. and then on a personal note j just dont really like age gap romances so unless its for a specific purpose i'll usually chose people in the same age range. oh yeah and narratively i wanted albinnaux to get that little spark of hope before crushing it hahahahaha

i also think discussions of spirituality and religion would be interesting between them. albinnaux was raised orthodox halonic but came to disavow church and religion seeing them as tools to oppress the people and keep the highborn in power. minfilia though is very spiritual and religious she's basically head priest to the hydaelyn cult. and him getting crystal mommy visions and powers is uh an experience. so its the first time he sees faith as a non negative though he isnt about to worship anyone ever. cant remember if i told you but in arr albinnaux sees himself as only the warrior of light and worthless on his own. i find albinnaux and minfilia to have compatible personalities but faith and religion just might be the driving wedge between them. idk how it'd turn out. in arr albinnaux would probably find that devoutness off-putting and is generally wary of any overtly religious person being so used to the inquisitors. that its hydaelyn adds another layer to it since albinnaux all at once feels grateful, jealous/power hungry, and resentful towards hydaelyn. and also the twelve are well known but hydaelyn worship is like that weird side cult thing right?

but there's also the fact that personally i don't find minfilia interesting so im not like excited to think about her. im pretty good at taking my biases into account when evaluating things impartially. which is how i came up with minfilia for an answer but that doesn't mean i like it. i also considered haurchfant who i personally like much better. haurchefant's ... a LOT when the player first meets him and i wonder if that might be different if albinnaux is the wol since they know of each other by reputation if nothing else. "the fortemps bastard" and albinnaux had all sorts of gossip trailing him in ishgard (part of why he snapped) and now he's also a deserter. albinnaux also definitely snubbed/avoided haurchefant as a kid so while albi never directly bullied haurchefant i can see him walking away without helping. of course both are professional enough to work together. if haurchefant had acted like he does in game albinnaux would have wanted to run for the hills but would have grit his teeth because he has a job to do.

rocky starts aside hauchefant like minfilia is also that mix of bending and unbending. he's more easy going than albinnaux but will also hold his ground. he has strong convictions and is someone actively moving towards his goals which albinnaux would be similarly drawn too. i also think there's an interesting mix of albinnaux who's been repressing himself in a lot of ways for years and hauchefant who's one of the least repressed ishgardian we meet (stephanivien is probably the other). i think the biggest stumbling block here is that they are fundamentally oriented towards different things. both acknowledge the injustices of ishgard but with minfilia and albinnaux its ideals first and everything else is to back those up, while haurchefant seems more physically grounded in reality with a keen eye for the here and now.

stephanivien was another consideration. he's such a freak i love him. it helps that he and albinnaux are already good friends. they just get along very well. he's his little funny rabbit. they believe in a lot of the same things too though albinnaux rarely said those things out loud. steph said: guns will make knights obsolete and undermine the power of nobility and albinnaux thought hell yeah finally youre so right bestie. i can see them chatting through the night talking about the future. one thing they'd have to overcome is when albinnaux confronts him about something i can see stephanivien dodging and deflecting where albi would have preferred to be met head on. i can also see steph being a little too much to deal with if albinnaux is feeling tired or grumpy. whether he says it or not is another thing but albinnaux really admires stephanivien for being unabashedly himself and wholeheartedly pursuing his own interests and ignoring the expectations for high house sons. albinnaux tried to have both and ended up not achieving either which is something that pains him so seeing steph is like looking into the sun.

this was very challenging since by default i mostly think of these as platonic, but i guess they could work as romantic. oh and there's no conclusion to this or anything its just a thought experiments. shame that i think about 100 faster than i type. and writing things out is such a pain so it usually doesn't happen.
