Considering that we're gonna be entering Natlan in the next nation of genshin. I have a few words I wanna say on it.

On one hand, I'm so happy we're finally gonna see Capitano and learn about all the new lore, ect!

But on the other hand, I'm really nervous on what hoyoverse is going to be doing with the people in the nation considering the treatment with Sumeru and the fact that Natlan is inspired off of West African cultures and Latin America.

But considering the character designs of Vannessa and Iansan, I have some(what) faith in hoyo (fingers crossed!)

#The Poisons We Drink #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #this is…….a lot of cool ideas but also so many elements and high stakes that i kinda lost track of them #the pacing is weird. the worldbuilding is random? #why is brewing SO overpowered & risky for her but the other powers seem to have pretty normal low-scale risks? #it’s definitely ambitious and has some cool ideas and also some great characters just. didn’t execute as well as I’d like #as much as we’re told the main threat is the government trying to put through a Registration Act #most of the actual antagonism we see is from other Witchers? #like the systemic discrimination got a bit lost in the witcher family drama and murder politics #important things to say about oppression and police violence but like....idk #she has this ‘deviation’- essentially evil sentient magic inside her head (and you KNOW I love that trope) #but it’s barely explained and very underutilised? other than helping her get out of bad situations you could take it out & would barely #change anything #also it’s explained at the start that she’s an empath but other than the very occasional mention I kept forgetting #will also note that I bumped this up my tbr because I saw the author talking/promoting it as the MCs sister being aroace but no mention #maybe it’ll come up in a sequel (there weren’t really any places where it would have made sense to bring it up here) but idk #(just the way the author was asking for advice on how to write an ace character and stuff you’d assume that they’d….put that in the book?) #not really a critique of the book itself but anyway. i thought about a fic idea all of last week, obsessing over it night after night and then when I finally had a chance to draft and write it, got approximately three words out in the document

instead I've now spent the day writing another completely different fic that came to me this morning. almost 5k words at this point, completely drafted out in the form of dialogue, and some entire scenes actually written out too

because why on earth would creativity be in any way controllable, that's clearly not how it works

#it's gonna be another 10-20k thing when it's done i think #it's still a bit of writing and editing for me seeing as the last one was longer than i'd ever written before #but there are parts that i'm already quite happy with so <3 #this working part-time on a biweekly basis seems to agree with my creative side #who would have thought that by working less i'd have more time for the things i love #wish i could be content with the part-time pay too hahha... #yes also this one's a muggle-au wolfstar and i'm pretty excited to be writing them the way i've always seen them as a pair <3 #which is to say #a bit of a bratty babygirl sirius except he's actually not any of that it's all a mask he's adopted so as to be loved and cherished #and a bit of a soft-dom remus who sees and hears everything bc even if there are no werewolf senses that's just remus ok #but we'll see i mean the last story required a two month break inbetween getting to this point and to actually writing it #within two months i'm going to be enjoying my left-over holidays from last year though so that might actually check out :-D

Well, Xion got about a week, maybe two? Back home on the bookcase before she was needed once more for size comparisons.

Good news is, I can confirm to myself I’m using the right hook this time - Roxas and Xion are IDENTICAL in sizing based off the pattern, so I’ll only need her again while I’m checking proportions for the legs. (Arms are basically a matter of eyeballing relative to legs.)
