this is an invitation to infodump about your hobbies i want to know more about them and what brings you joy about them
Buckle up kids.
There's the one you see: writing. There's the related one: reading. Also the fanfic related one: gaming. Those are the known entities.
I am also really big into what my partner calls "soft works," aka hobbies that involve soft materials like yarn, thread, fabric.
I have been knitting for over 25 years, crocheting for 15.
I cross stitch, I embroider (a little, I am not as good), I do sashiko.
I mend mine and my partner's clothes when I can.
I have a sewing machine and make some of my own clothes because I am now a 2X in US sizing which means nothing except straight sizes tend to exclude me and plus sizes tend to run out of my stuff, so I just make my own now. It also means I think hard about what clothes I actually need.
I have a rigid heddle loom and have just started getting into weaving. I have made nothing successfully but I am taking a couple classes in June. I long term really want to try a floor loom.
I want to learn everything. I have done some needle felting, want to do more. I want to learn enough leather working to make bags. I want to learn punch needle. I want to do some quilting.
The only fabric art I think I do not want to do is dying but there is a dye studio in Philly that I plan to take a class at long term to see if I am wrong actually.
I also never plan to do spinning. My friend does spinning. I have seen how spinners end up with tons of yarn. I pride myself on keeping my craft supplies pretty tight, mostly because I have too many hobbies not to, so I am happy to just buy yarn made by other talented spinners.
I also really want to try pottery but that's another conversation entirely.

HC’s on how the RFA & Saeran would react to MC being a fashion designer/someone who loves to sew
Kim Jihyun (V):
his mc wanted to challenge themselves by sketching out styles they usually didn’t use
they were thinking about nice and calm colors, but didn’t know how to get it on paper
they remembered v used to paint and asked him if he could teach them how to use watercolor
he was a little hesitant at first because he thought a professional would be better for them, but they insisted
during his break from selling his work, he’d be one of the many photographers taking pictures at mc’s fashion shows
FRONT ROW SEATS
he offered to be the photographer for some of mc’s photoshoots and the pictures he takes often make it to the cover page
let’s face it, he’s a genius
all of the models in mc’s fashion house that have worked with v have all said it was a great experience
mc is eternally grateful for his help
“Oh my gosh, Jihyun thank you so much. I love you I love you I love you” ;u;
sometimes he recites random poems to help mc think of new designs
he feels inspired by mc’s works and vice versa
they keep each other motivated during /artists/ block lol
Han Jumin:
mc had been quite busy lately and their maid had caught a cold
he had jaehee hire a temporary maid that would come the next day
so that evening, he was putting his and mc’s clothes away, but noticed mc didn’t have any tags on their clothes
he confronted mc when they got home and asked if they’d like the tags cut off for them whenever they got new clothes
for a moment mc was confused, but laughed and shook their head, telling him that they sew their own clothes
“Wait, then what about that dress you wore to the company party last month? I didn’t buy that one for you.”
“I made it myself.”
how had he not seen mc’s name in the list of the best designers he was given?????
makes mc his personal tailor
probably has them make Elizabeth 3rd clothes too
like cute little bows, booties, and dresses
mc even made the three of them matching outfits and they honestly looked like an adorable family omg /clenches heart/
“MC, how do you feel about creating a whole clothing line for cats?”
when he picked up cross-stitching as a hobby, he asked mc for advice
mc personally put the threads through the needles he planned to use
Kang Jaehee:
a bit surprised since around her, mc is always wearing casual, comfy clothes
she imagined designers dressing either formal and professionally or bold and colorful
sorry mc looked like a plain regular person like everybody else
mc does little things like repairing buttons and stitching up tears in her business attire and it just Warms. Her. Heart.
mc actually teaches jaehee the basics and they have fun sewing stuff together during their free-time
eventually when jaehee opens a café, mc surprises her with a bunch of wrapped gifts at the grand opening
flowers are overrated sorry
the boxes had table cloths, cleaning rags, oven mittens, aprons, curtains, and so much more all made by mc themselves
this darling almost cried
when did mc even have the spare time to sew all of these
it must’ve taken up so much time and energy
is forever grateful for the wonderful gift and all of mc’s hard work
Ryu Hyun (Zen):
one time he asked if they could design the costumes for one of the musicals he was starring in
the two of them would bounce off numerous ideas with one another, so the sketching phase wasn’t as stressful
he even tried sketching out a few designs himself
they had a bit of trouble choosing between ten, yes ten, different outfits because he LOOKS GOOD IN EVERYTHING
“Can’t you just wear all of them.”
“It’ll take too much time to change between scenes, plus the character doesn’t wear that many different outfits in this play. I’d love to wear all your designs though.”
zen wears the ones he doesn’t use in the musical, at home lol
not that mc minds tho cuz eye candy
he felt jealous when his mc had to take the other actors’ measurements and when they had costume fittings
he couldn’t help it. those guys were too close to them for his liking
he didn’t say anything about it, although he did get a little more clingy
enjoys being mc’s “mannequin” for sewing projects
“You can use me as your model any time!”
Choi Saeyoung (707):
he found out it was their career when he did the background check
would totally ask mc to sew outfits for cosplaying and his missions
when he notices mc stressing because of deadlines, he gives them silly and ridiculous ideas to make them laugh
is really helpful when mc needs to make important presentations for team meetings
he drew a few sketches in crayon and slipped them into one of mc’s folders lololol
at mc’s workplace, they were having a bad day and ended up bumping into one of their coworkers
mc happened to be holding some folders and a few of saeyoung’s sketches fell out
bending down to pick them back up, mc felt a smile tug at the corner of their lips
“Choi Saeyoung.”
uh oh mc’s holding his drawings and he panics
“MC, I’m so sorry. I was just joking around and-”
“Thank you.”
"What?"
HUGSSSSSSSSSSS and mc snuggles their face into his chest
O///////////O
error error Agent 707 has shut down
Choi Saeran:
one day, mc dragged him along with them to go out shopping for fabrics, threads, and all that
all the big bulks of fabric were making his nose itchy, but he didn’t mind if he was able to see mc happy
the elder ladies often pointed out how cute the two of them looked together and even teased them, asking when he was planning to propose
gaaaaah we’re just here to buy fabric
this precious marshmallow had this loving look in his eyes the entire time as he watched his precious squishy mc ramble on and on about different types of fabric, patterns, and colors
they sounded so cute and that little twinkle in their eyes had his heart racing
mc gave him a handkerchief as a gift before
it was a simple, white handkerchief with his initials and his favorite flower embroidered on one of the corners
it’s very special to him and he always makes sure not a single speck of dirt gets on it
Kim Yoosung:
when he finds out that mc is a famous designer, he starts to feel a little bit self-conscious about what he wears
he even debates on how he should style his hair, but mc reassures him that he looks fine just the way he is
when he doesn’t know if an outfit looks good or if he doesn’t know what to wear, he’d ask mc for advice
he loves it when they give him clothes that they had sewn as gifts
asks if mc could teach him how to sew and they start with hand-sewing
their apartment feels like a home ec class lmao
mc suggests they should start with sewing machines next
but yoosung's like nOPE sewing machines are for Professionals
tbh he’s just scared he might end up sewing his shirt and the fabric together and getting stuck
this little squish tried sewing a puppy stuffed animal for mc, but it turned out a little misshapen
he was too embarrassed to give it to them and hid it somewhere, but of course mc found it by accident and asked him what it was
he had no choice but to tell the truth. curse his luck hdhjshdj
mc thanks him and kisses him on the cheek
they now sleep with it whenever they go to bed, which makes yoosung kind of jealous lol
“MC why don’t you cuddle me instead?”

15 people, 15 questions
Tagged by @fanfic-gremlin-ft-trauma, thanks!
1.) Are you named after anyone?
Nope. Tried to ask several times about possible reasons, but my parents said they just liked this name
2.) When was the last time you cried?
Not sure, but probably in previous couple of weeks. I couldn't sleep and stared overthinking and got too sad about it 😅
3.) Do you have kids?
Nah, not interested
4.) What sports do you play/have played?
I tried gymnastics during 1st grade. I liked it, but it was too cruel for me. Other than that I reeeeeeally don't like sports
5.) Do you use sarcasm?
Yep
Tumblr media
6.) What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Whole demeanor I guess, the kind of vibes person is giving. And their hairdo
7.) What’s your eye colour?
Blue and grey with little bit of green. I'm not sure how to describe it
8.) Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings mostly. There's too much awful stuff going on in real world to be devastated because of fictional stuff 😥
9.) Any talents?
I like to think I'm creative and resourceful person. Does it count as talent? I'm also good at hairdressing, know thing or two about haircutting and looove dying hair, specifically "unnatural" colors. I want to try holographic thing on someone's hair, but sadly, I don't have enough volunteers for my experiments. Usually it's my own hair, but I've settled on current one some years ago
10.) Where were you born?
In a hospital afaik
11.) What are your hobbies?
Gaming! Mostly on PS, some cozy gaming on PC. Love DIY stuff: drawing, cross stitching, sewing, crafting - depends on what I'm into at the moment. I wanted to try archery or boxing, but I think I'm too lazy for it 😄
12.) Do you have any pets?
One affectionate chonky cat 💙
13.) How tall are you?
5’2 or something. Haven't checked for quite some time
14.) Favourite subject in school?
Languages, English isn't my native one. I've tried to start learning German, but I'm not consistent with it. I was also good with math and stuff, but wasn't really a fan of it. I just liked the fact that it's quite easy for me
15.) Dream job?
Honestly? I just want to do different stuff I like without worrying about money. More like I'm dreaming to not have to have a job 😅
I don't have a lot of people to tag here, so I'll tag couple of mutuals @ultfreakme @tellme-astory @dualcordie

Hi it’s Cee, I have the side blog life.
Nice ask day thingy:
You already know I love your cross-stitches but what got you into it? Is it a family skill?
Would you consider making an Etsy?
And one non-CS related one
What do you want to see in Season 5?
I talked a bit earlier about what got me started with cross stitching. It was basically my pandemic hobby. I honestly don't remember exactly what made me decide to start it, but I think it just came from being really bored at home/not working, browsing Schitt's Creek stuff on Etsy, and coming across a simple looking cross stitch kit. I figured out how to do it from the kit, liked it, realized there were TONS of Schitt's Creek patterns and kits on Etsy, and it just grew from there.
I do have an aunt who's really into sewing, makes clothes, does a lot of quilting, and also does cross stitch. When she found out that I was getting into it, she sent me a box full of kits she had lying around. I feel a little bad that I haven't really done many of them, but I just have more of a passion for cross stitching that's related to the tv show I'm hyperfixating on!
I don't know if I would consider making an Etsy or not. I don't have plans to right now, but I won't say never. When I started out doing this, I was almost exclusively using other people's patterns, so I wouldn't have been able to sell anything. Now that I'm making my own patterns, I suppose I could start selling either the patterns or the finished pieces. At least right now, I feel like there aren't enough cross stitching hours in the day for me to get the patterns and stitching done for my own personal satisfaction, but it may be something I would consider in the future.
As for season 5, SO MANY THINGS, but to name a few: I want Carlos to solve Gabriel's murder and feel some closure about it, I want TK and Carlos to be ridiculously happily married, I want to learn more about Nancy, I wouldn't say no to more Paul and Asha, I want some good TNT paramedics action scenes, I want a Grace/Judd and TK/Carlos double date, I want more 126 Catan hangs and/or some other 126 shenanigans, and I really want the show to not forget that Lou II exists.

Fifteen Questions for Fifteen Mutuals
Okay - I think a ton of people have tagged me in this one - so I shall finally answer. I do apologize for the delay, but in my defense, the end of the summer has been hectic! Thank you all for the tags: @sonneteer-fool, @theghostinthemargins, @theworldisquietheretooquiet, @slightnettles, @elfscribe, @runawaymun, @metatomatoes, @thesolarangel.
Are you named after anyone? Yes, I'm named after a movie character. My parents liked neither the actress, nor the character she played, but they did want to be like her parents in the movie so ... I'm not fond of this name, tbh.
Do you have kids? No.
Do you use sarcasm a lot? Only when it's completely obvious that I'm joking. Around the house, my partner will ask me to do something and I'm like "Absolutely not" as I have already started the task.
When was the last time you cried? Uh... a couple days ago. Battling perfectionism and trying to change the ways I think about my worth as a person turns out to be difficult, actually.
What’s the first thing you notice about other people? Honestly? Probably clothes. I like fashion. I'm not fashionable or even stylish, but I think clothes are neat.
Eye colour? I have central heterochromia. My eyes have a brown center circle and a green outer circle, but are overall pretty dark. You have to be somewhat physically close to me to notice the color.
What sports do you/have played? Have I played ever? Uh, basketball, tee-ball, soccer, and ran track (was very good at the running long jump). But I stopped playing sports during high school. I wasn't good enough at anything to make the team, except for the aforementioned track event.
Any special talent? Uh? I guess I learn quickly? That counts as a special talent right?
Where were you born? USA
Scary movies or happy endings? I love scary movies and although happy endings are fine, I tend to prefer bittersweet ones. Those endings make me think for longer.
Do you have any pets? Two shelter dogs: Barkimedes and Rear Admiral Grace Pawper (she's named after Grace Hopper, the computer scientist)
How tall are you? 5' 7", which Google says is 170cm
What are your hobbies? Writing fanfic, reading (novels or fanfic, but mostly novels atm), crocheting, sewing (cosplay or general use clothes), embroidery/cross stitching, baking (though this one has kinda taken a backseat for a while), drawing/trying to learn digital art.
Favorite subject in school? Latin. Took four years of it, and have had an enduring love for learning languages ever since (though I'm not fluent in any but English, lmao)
Dream job? Honestly, I'm not sure I have one? Anything that becomes "work" is ultimately bound to suffer in the joy department. So, I guess, I dream of a job that only makes me work 20 hours a week, pays me what my 45 hour a week job pays now, and leaves me with enough energy to pursue doing things I love and spending time with family.
I'm not going to tag anybody directly - since this one went around some time ago. But if you see it and it looks like fun to you, consider this your tag!

I kinda like how hobbies are created and passed through different generations in my family.
My great grandmother did really fancy crochet. Like. That woman was off the shits with it. She made so many tiny fancy snowflakes that most of her kids and grandkids got some (which is super impressive because she had like seven kids and each kid had no less than two kids). She also made a crap ton of quilts. As many as possible were found and put on display during her funeral and I remember thinking they were breathtaking.
One of her daughters (my great aunt) had gotten into macrame and made this GORGEOUS plant hanger that was always in my great grandmas house. Other family members had some things too but she didn’t do it as long.
I’m not sure about my cousins but I’m pretty sure most of them got into some sort of sewing. Or cross stitch.
I tried crocheting but it never really stuck. Now I’m on to embroidery and I’m having a great time with it. Grandma saw my very poor crochet squares but never got to see my embroidery. But I can’t help think there’s some of her influence for loving the craft of fabric and thread there.

Writeblr intro
Hello! While I’m not exactly new to writeblr, I never really got involved when I was active a few years ago, so I’m re-introducing myself. I stopped writing a few years ago after having a baby (I went from being an overwhelmed stay-at-home parent to working full-time with a very energetic small child at home, AND the pandemic happened in the middle of all that, so it’s been kind of difficult to focus). I’m hoping to start up again, establish a regular writing schedule, and maybe make some friends along the way.
 About Me:
Name: Sarah
Age: 35
Pronouns: she/they
Main blog: @omskivar (mostly reblogs and personal stuff)
Genres: Primarily fantasy and horror, but I enjoy sci fi and romance, and I’ll dabble in just about any genre
Hobbies: reading, video games, baking, crafts (especially fiber arts like knitting, crochet, sewing, cross stitch), tabletop RPGs (primarily Dungeons & Dragons)
What I enjoy in fiction:  zombies, dragons, werewolves and other shapeshifters, mythology and folklore, found family (especially surrogate parent/child relationships), queer rep, mixing genres, storylines that sucker-punch me in the emotions and leave me curled up sobbing on the floor
WIPs/Ideas I’m Developing
I usually work over ideas for a while before I begin to write them. Most of these are still in the planning stages.
Untitled Mass Effect fic
Myla Shepard doesn’t see or hear from her mom much, and that’s just fine by her.  But when the Reapers attack Earth and Myla is forced to flee to the Citadel, she finds herself desperately trying to contact Commander Shepard.
Of course, no one believes her when she says she’s Commander Shepard’s daughter. And while she’s made friends with a handful of refugees, Myla quickly realizes that her mother has made a lot of very powerful enemies... and they all seem to be converging on the Citadel.
Untitled The Last of Us fic
AU retelling of The Last of Us Part 2. Abby’s father didn’t die when Joel shot him, but between the severity of his injuries and the loss of so many of their people, the Salt Lake City Fireflies disbanded and gave up on the idea of a cure. Now, with the backing of the WLF, Abby’s tracked down Joel with one goal in mind: find Ellie and take her back to Seattle to try again for a cure.

hi romy! for that ask game, what abt 25 and 51 for you and mitsuya <3
hi venus!! Ty for the ask <3
25. Do they have any hobbies they share?
Sewing! I can only hand sew but I used to like to make little animal plushes or do cross stitching. (I haven't had the time/materials for a while tho sadly).
51. What’s a non verbal way they say I love you?
Takashi and I are both acts of service type people, so we both like to do little things to make the other's day better (grabbing the other's favorite snack, taking care of a chore/errand for the other, etc); that's how we show our care a lot of the time!

🌈- What are some common hobbies?
⚡- What is your headspace like? (If you have one)
💫- Does anyone wanna share something about their source? Feel free to ramble, anyone can answer too!
🌈- What are some common hobbies?
Sewing, although personally I am more intrigued by hand stitching and embroidery than the others. We also enjoy language learning, although, again I would rather learn something I'm more acquainted with so when I front to learn Russian, although I am not good at it.
-
⚡- What is your headspace like? (If you have one)
Different than anything I have laid witness to before.... It's very pink, made of what can be described as 'cotton candy'- although it feels solid while remining soft and edible.
We mostly stay in the 'main room' which is an oral shaped room. It had a golden cross in the middle (which pretty much all of us have been tied to before by the littles) alongside a fountain. There's the pond/waterfall, the corridors (that lead to the bedroom, White Church, and the 'elevator' which leads to the other rooms), the 'basement' and 'mushroom corner'.
We can't access White Church, and most of the rooms connected to the elevator remain unopened due to the hosts fear of seeing headspace. I myself have explored a few rooms, they include a ballroom that I've made mine.
Our headspace is vast but mostly unexplorable, one of the few joys in being polyfragmented.
-
💫- Does anyone wanna share something about their source? Feel free to ramble, anyone can answer too!
I seem to be the only alter close to front now, so I may as well talk about myself. I'm a Fyodor Dostoevsky introject, from BSD. I don't entirely remember source, besides splotchy memories of tea houses and dying.
Ironically both play parts in my daily life now, although few alters in the system like tea, I crave it.
I don't have many source 'facts' all I know is that now I am currently in a system with a lot of introjects from it because the host latched onto it when we uncovered a big trauma.

15 Question, 15 People
Thanks for the tag @martsonmars ! I love this kind of stuff. But first…
Fifteen people??? Ok. I can do this. I tried to do a quick check to see if any of you have done it already, but I also didn’t try too hard: @ic3-que3n @onepintobean @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @thewholelemon @alexalexinii @palimpsessed @skeedelvee @youarenevertooold @agni-ashes @cutestkilla @iamamythologicalcreature @ileadacharmedlife @bookish-bogwitch @theimpossibledemon @whogaveyoupermission
1. Are you named after anyone?
Nope! My mom wanted a name that sounded good in both English and Spanish. She looked at a map for inspiration and saw the Sierra Madre Occidental range in Mexico and the Sierra Nevada range in California and went "aha!"
Sierra has never been a super popular name, at least not spelled my way, and she'd never heard it before, so it was perfect! Imagine her dismay when a few years later we discovered another Sierra, one year older, living a couple streets over in our tiny neighborhood. I also went to high school with one other Sierra. The mid-nineties was "Sierra's" time to shine, apparently.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Yesterday
3. Do you have kids?
Nope
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I’ve recently realized I don’t use it as often as I think I do, but I think it’s still pretty often.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
I think it’s their expression, particularly if they are smiling or not. If they are, what kind of smile is it? Is it telling me they don’t want to be here/don’t want to be talking to me? If they aren’t, do they look upset/frustrated or just busy or distracted?
6. What’s your eye color?
I think I’ve settled on grey. It changes drastically depending on what I’m wearing. Sometimes I look and they’re super blue. Other times I’m like wow those are so obviously green. Most of the time I’m like “wtf is this color?” My mom used to say they were “blue, like the ocean,” but I think we need to specify that it’s the ocean during a storm. A little grey, a little green, a little blue. Depends on which ocean and which storm.
7. Scary movie or happy endings?
Happy endings! I like some scary movies, but really I’m all about a happy ending.
8. Any special talents?
Ummmmm…. Mr. Brilla says my special talent is dropping stuff I had a solid hold on a second ago.
9. Where were you born?
Texas
10. What are your hobbies?
I’m a hobby collector. I try stuff and drop them all the time. I lean toward crafty or creative hobbies, like embroidery and cross stitch, sewing, drawing, writing, painting minis. I also love to dance (social and ballroom— partner dances) and sing (by myself in the car/shower…), and read.
11. Do you have any pets?
A chihuahua mix (mostly chihuahua) named Dulce!
12. What sports do you play/have you played?
I played soccer for 2 seasons when I was 7 because I liked being on a team and wearing a uniform, but I hated practice and games and, you know, playing soccer. I also tried gymnastics for a day and cried. I’ve never been a sports kid.
I do social dancing now, which still ain’t competitive, but it could be, ya know?
13. How tall are you?
5’2”
14. Favorite subject at school?
(American) schools try really hard to make interesting stuff really boring and hard. I think my favorite was Spanish because I already knew quite a bit and already loved the language and was very good at it from the start. It was easy and I got to learn more about something I already loved.
If school were better, I would have loved more subjects because I love learning, in general. I find history and social studies and cultural studies all absolutely fascinating. I also find sciences really interesting, as well, but the classes were so rough in school that they were never a favorite subject. Math had its moments, too, but again… not always the greatest teachers or curriculum. I love reading and was very good at essays, so English/lit were ok, but the books were soooo hit or miss for me.
15. Dream job?
My dream job would be part-time teaching a high school Computer Science class (and would throw in Spanish I, too!) and part-time software engineer at some sort of “tech-for-good” company working in something worthwhile and/or cool.

Omen came with my partner, he's about 4 now and he started out so anxious that he wouldn't leave his room. Now he plays regularly with all three of the others, and is getting better with strangers every day uwu
Beau is our 2 year old. He has an angsty backstory of being an abandoned stray, but over the past year he's really opened up and started trusting us. He likes to follow me around the house and do chores with me
And the latest addition, Azriel (or Azzy) who is just barely a year old now. Rough start with this guy, but him and I have started warming up to each other. His worst trait is that he must. Climb. Everything. Also he's albino

For your manga panel embroidery can I ask what stitch you use? I’ve been wanting to get into it and I’ve only really done cross stitch before.
Im a huge cross stitcher too!!!! i just use a backstitch with a single thread of black DMC thread :) SOMETIMES ill use 2 strands (after separating them) for bolder stuff, like text outlines but the rest is all single stitch because i think it looks cleaner lol you could even use regular black sewing thread for even thinner lines (i didnt use that in my zoro sanji wano one though)
if you have any other questions about it please feel free to ask again or dm me! i love helping people learn about my favourite hobby 🥰🥰

“Compassion is punk rock as hell”
Tumblr media
A patch I made a couple years ago in 2019, the pattern is from @shitpostsampler, based on @websurfingspider’s words. I customized and sewed the patch to my denim jacket, and it is one of the very first cross-stitch patches I ever made and still lives on my denim jacket! It's one of the pieces that started my journey using textile art as a form of activism, especially when I was just coming to terms with my disabilities. I was literally using up the last of my aida scraps and ended up having to glue this piece back together, hence the massive line through 'compassion', but that gives it character. This particular patch is very near and dear to me, it served as a reminder to grant myself compassion too.
I and many others have preconceived ideas of what cross-stitch is, I've had people liken it to 'a thing their nan did' or describe it as 'outdated'. When I moved to Newfoundland and Labrador for university, I pushed all my old textile art away, thinking I needed to  move towards STEM studies and hobbies (I still don't know what a 'STEM hobby' is). And the more I pursued science the more I ended up coming back to textile art. It came full circle, back to being the thing I did to feel able to breathe again, and eventually, I started the CNA Textile and Apparel Design Program and have graduated!
The two years I spent in university were well-spent, I found amazing friends, learned what I liked and didn't like doing, and I learned that I am absolutely allowed to pursue the things that make me happy. No experience is ever wasted, there is always something to learn and take from every moment! My half of an ecology and environmental science degree has intertwined with my art practice, when it comes to natural dyeing and the pursuit of a more environmentally friendly art practice. The six months I spent working at the Botanical Garden here in the city taught me so much about local plant life and ecology and has served as one of the building blocks of learning more.

Civic Engagement Learning Project
About Me:
Hi, I'm Josh. Besides reading, I also like to sew clothes, quilt with cat fabric, cross stitch, listen to Taylor Swift, and learn! My goal is to eventually become a biomedical engineer that specializes in prosthetics, and I'm working hard every day to reach it.
My Projects:
I have chosen the Uncensored, Blind Date Book Party, and (Don't) Read This Book campaigns that I wish to complete. I have picked these in particular because they all have aspects of reading in them, something that I really enjoy!
Uncensored:
I chose this campaign because of my aforementioned love of reading as well as being able to read stories about a community that I am part of. I hope to experience stories from fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community and to learn more about challenges that I might face in the real world when I get older. I am most excited about being able to read books that aren't legal in some places, as it adds flavor to the reading experience.
Blind Date Book Party:
Much like the Uncensored campaign, I chose this due to my love of reading, as well as the fact I like to swap books with my friends. Most of the books I choose to read are within a couple genres, so being able to read outside of that is always exciting! I hope to read books that might broaden my horizons, as well as to give my friends books that they can fall in love with. Personally, I hope to find a new series to get addicted to, as well as being able to discuss with my friends about the books I've read. I'm most excited to see what books my friends bring to the book swap.
(Don't) Read This Book:
I chose this campaign because I like to spread the love of reading to other people. I hope to interest someone else to get into reading, whether they were never interested or are trying to get back into the hobby. Personally, I hope to be able to clear my library of some of its books, so that I can fit more books onto the shelves in the future. I am most excited about having to decide if I should keep or give away a book, as it is always a strenuous process.
