I saw you tagged that photo of Mulder, Krycek and Scully as “I’m so fascinated by them”; can you talk about that? I don’t know if I’ve given too much thought to their dynamic before and I’m curious as to why you like them as a trio
anon, i want to walk you through a scenario. you’re a 29 year old medical doctor teaching classes at quantico after having been separated from your first assignment at the fbi. you miss your partner. you’re giving morbid lectures and nearly crying when a student says you sound “spooky” and arranging covert meetings at the watergate hotel.
one day, your ex-partner reaches out to ask for your help on a case! you’ve been waiting for this for months! you practically begged to autopsy a body covered in sewage waste and mutant worms for this!
he comes to see you about the case, and your face falls as you realize that he’s brought with him a new partner. “this is alex krycek, we’re working the case together,” he says. standing next to this barbie doll looking motherfucker (whose hand you pointedly refuse to shake).
your wary “trust no one” friend, who accused you of being a spy when it was your first day on his assignment, has seemingly taken to this new ally. they’re carpooling and saving each other’s lives in train stations and venturing into hostage situations without telling you. (“sounds like your new partner is working out…must be nice not having someone question your every move,” you tell him cheekily over the phone).
in a split second, a broken window, a mountaintop- your life changes forever. three months of missing time, and you come back to find a reopened office and an FBI agent without a partner; that hand you refused to shake participated in your violation, then disappeared without a trace.
it isn’t long before he’s back: one, two, three gunshots fired. a father. an apartment wall. a sister.
(though i don’t know if scully ever found out that krycek was there when her sister was killed)
in a moment of quick thinking and sweaty desperation, you break up a fight and trade a bullet in the deceiver for a bullet in your partner’s shoulder; less than a year after introduction in your autopsy bay, you save both lives.
over the years, he’s the shadow you can’t quite shake. when your partner makes his way to hong kong or russia, it’s not you that goes trailing after.
you do follow his tracks into a dark apartment, ask him, what are you thinking about? listen to him tell you about destiny. fate. the “inextricable relationships” of our lives.
when he changes his tune, suddenly willing to follow leads he had admonished you for suggesting, you could swear you heard russian translation.
(i know scully doesn’t know that krycek kissed him)
office fires, nanobots, and air force base abductions later, you strategize over chinese takeout and pizza. you stand at the head of the table, your partner two people removed, the russian to his immediate left.
perhaps it would be too much to ask, after the funeral, to grieve free of threat. nonetheless, there’s leather around hospital corners, broken vials in the garage, a seat taken at the bureau when you still don’t have one to share.
three more gunshots, the spy dies and you give birth on the same day. it’s colder without a shadow, though you can’t say you miss it.
you stand in a court of law and can’t help but notice, your partner looking over his shoulder.

Can I just say, there is a real missed opportunity with releasing most of the Kingdom Hearts franchise to Steam in June.
Like, Square Enix could have been the funniest motherfuckers if they released the games on July 13th instead.

getting up on my soapbox for a moment. i find it laughable that nearly every time someone says they don’t like rap they cite hamilton and k-pop as the only rap they can tolerate. because everything else is just so violent and full of blatant consumerism. first off. so is k-pop. secondly. idk how to tell you the founding fathers were some of the most violent people around (coming from a black american descentant of slaves who is most likely related to thomas jefferson. shouldn’t have to explain the relevance here). thirdly. hamilton and k-pop both reference and interpolate rap. so idk what to tell you babes. you do like rap. you just don’t like black people. say it with your full chest next time.

DC X DP PROMPT #8
Danny is a Justice League member as Phantom. They know about ghosts and stuff, as Danny has taught them things.
Danny, Dani, and Dan are all relatively grown. In their human forms (Dan inhabits a clone body) they all look VERY similar. The Ghost forms of the D's don't exactly look the same, per se, but they do look very similar and it's not because they are all technically clones (though that helps)
There are more than a few days where Danny doesn't want to do JL stuff, and he figures, the JL know about his operations outside the JL, they should know about his siblings, right? Right? Wrong.
Dan, Danny, and Dani constantly swap out for JL activities and no one has noticed. They all think either A. Danny is gender fluid, B. Danny has mood swing and or multiple personalities, or C. Nothing is wrong, what are you guys talking about everyone has their off days!
The Dannies find out and OBVIOUSLY have to make a game out of it because I mean - how does the JUSTICE LEAGUE of all people not notice the difference between THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE

The best fics are the ones that recognize that although Luke Skywalker may APPEAR on the outside to be a normal friendly twink who happens to have cool powers, especially when contrasted with such ship partners as Boba or Din or even Han, he is arguably the scariest person alive in the galaxy around the prequel era. AND, crucially, he is also a fundamentally weird guy. This man was homeschooled on a rural farm his entire life and then apprenticed to a swamp gremlin who showed him how to tap into the cosmic power of the universe. He blew up the death star age 19, killing approx 2 million-ish Imperials. He is a vortex of Force power that can communicate with the ghosts of dead Jedi. He’s staring into the distance and mumbling to himself and doing Yoda aphorisms and casually pulling out the “yeah I could crush that guy into a paste with my mind (:” and nobody around him knows what to do with that. I think he is a character who has very little frame of reference for how a Jedi or a person in general is supposed to act and there is some thing about him that is by necessity really fucking weird and a little scary but he’s so nice that it can throw you off the scent a little bit. Thanks for coming to my TED talk

i'm a firm believer that there's nothing funnier than professional minecraft players who Only know their very specific niche, so the second they try to do anything outside of said niche they're fucked. there's nothing more entertaining than watching a speedrunner who knows every little mechanic on how to optimize beating the game struggle to craft a fence. or watching a builder whose constructed cities bigger than real-life countries figure out they can equip shields in their offhand for extra protection. genuinely peak comedy

The dynamic in Rise between the rest of the team and Leo is. so fucking funny. Because like you've got these three extremely talented individuals who all seem like perfectly reasonable people at first glance, right, but then if you squint hard enough you realize they're actually all batshit insane (affectionate) and the clown boy standing behind them is secretly their common sense.
Clown boy will occasionally put himself and the others in danger to Prove Himself or Prove Someone Wrong (see Minotaur Maze and the movie) but like otherwise... i think people forget Leo's overwhelmingly the voice of reason in most situations?
Raph, Mikey, and Donnie are all incredibly powerful boys with very specific skill sets. They are also, as a direct result of this, the WORST decision-makers on god's green earth lmao. When presented with a problem, Raph will smash, Donnie will blow shit up, and Mikey will razzmatazz. They will all run straight toward death with the same oblivious enthusiasm of a dog about to run straight into a screen door. None of them realize this and all of them think they are Extremely Good At Problem-Solving.
And the guy cursed with the common sense to realize this is literally the LAST person anyone would expect.
When you look closely, the entirety of Rise is actually a chronicle of Leo trying to find new and creative ways to keep this team of superpowered fools alive while simultaneously white-knuckling his Cool Fun Guy persona so the others don't realize he's secretly the Boring Responsible One. Haha, you know what would be Cool and Fun, guys? Not going after the Spine Breaking Bandit lol. Getting home before the sun goes up lol. Evacuating that civilian lol. Not telling the guy dangling me off a roof "you won't, no balls" lol.
The sacred struggle of every iteration of Leonardo is thanklessly wrangling the most trigger-happy siblings in the world, and Rise Leo has not escaped it. He just does an occasional shenanigan to avoid detection and his brothers fall for it every time.
