You felt a chill run down your spine at his words. Take you..? You weren't sure what he meant, and you didn't think you wanted to. He started walking towards you and you squeezed your eyes shut, bracing yourself for whatever he was about to do. What you didn't expect was for his hands to grip your wrists, pushing you back onto the mattress as he climbed over you. Your eyes flew open. "Sir..."

He grinned as you whimpered under him. "I'm gonna make a deal with you. You let me fuck you, I'll leave."

Your eyes widened at his proposal, a mix of fear and arousal swirling in your gut. "And if I don't?"

The man chuckled darkly, his grip tightening on your wrists. "I'll make sure there isn't a single valuable item left in this entire house. Your choice, cariña."

Hello Anon-dear! If your ask is a bit long to read-that's fine, if it's long to answer, that's where I'll need to pause for the time being. That's where I get hung up and distracted, lol. I'm still taking those too, it's still Friday somewhere, lol.

To answer your question, it will absolutely be possible to romance someone without flirting. The "flirt" options are passively tracked just so I can program certain flirty responses that will be directed back to the MC by those ROs (it's a way for me to track if it's okay with reader/MC so I'm not directing like super suggestive come-ons towards them that aren't okay).

I absolutely love how you're going to play your MC. That's part of the reason I wanted to do things this way. The way I play my MCs sometimes makes flirting almost out of character for them, but of course I'd want the romance, lol.

Your MC will be free to flirt and do some other things with Zahn (they are all kinds of okay with that, lol) and then lock-in with Oswin later - no flirting required.

Zahn will be totally fine if your MC doesn't end up with them. They and Duri are both good with physical-only and flirty relationships. Your MC will make selections as they go about how they feel about each potential suitor, and the hook-up ROs will have a selection that you can choose if this is just for fun or if it's got some feelings attached (whether your MC is fully aware or not). [Lucky for your MC, I added a light spicey scene for Zahn in chapter 3 if they so choose] :D

If Oswin is aware of relations between the MC and others, he's going to feel a little strange about it and be concerned (for MC's well-being because he cannot help himself, lol). Mainly, things like that aren't his bag, but he also knows that for many people physical and romantic relationships can be separate. He's more concerned with having his lover's heart above all else, so ultimately he will be okay with it. For MCs that have been involved with the hook-ups, particularly the ROs, Oswin may have a harder time digesting that the MC is choosing him to remain with. (He may feel that the connection between the MC and Zahn/Duri was deeper and never considered that the MC would ever go for him). It will be an interesting conversation for sure (one that the programming for is already frightening me, lol).

Anyway, I don’t have actual content to post because all I’ve been working on fandom-wise has been Inktober. However, last week someone (I can’t remember who 😭) did a personal WIP Wednesday and I’m totally stealing that, because WOW has it been a wild few months.

I think most of the people who are going to see this post already know most of this, but I’ve officially graduated college (thank fucking god), started my first full-time job, and moved halfway across the United States. It’s a lot of transition stuff, but surprisingly? I’ve actually been doing really well with it.

This past month I’ve treated myself like a work in progress, and man have I improved. I’m taking my meds every day without external pressure for the first time and the meds I’m taking actually work. I’ve been waking up at a reasonable human being time, I haven’t missed a day of work, and I’m actually learning to cook for myself. I’m also working on getting my place organized and decorated, and I’m honestly in love with it so far :) Here’s some pictures!

One of the things I’m really working on right now (and the thing that’s probably the most relevant to y’all) is actually interacting with others. I’ve made a concerted effort to hang out with someone irl one day every weekend.

This may not seem like much, but for me to make it through a full week of waking up and going to work and doing my chores (semi) regularly and still make an effort to see people on the weekend instead of just huddling in my room? It’s huge! But it’s also kind of exhausting because my body just isn’t used to that anymore. I’m used to laying in bed 24/7, so I need a LOT of recovery time in between.

This has had the side effect of not having any energy to really engage with my online friends. My social battery just runs out so quickly right now, but I’m really optimistic. I wanna start engaging in the server again because I miss you guys so much. I’ve kind of held myself back for a while because I know I can’t commit to fully being on the server like I used to right now, but I’m going to try to drop in here and there when I have the energy :)

Anyway, kudos to you if you’ve read this far :P I just wanted to give a little update on how things were going and why I haven’t been around as much. Appreciate you all ❤️❤️❤️

But nothing regarding love is clear, the only thing u have clear is that u don't wanna be parted from kagiura and that u don't wanna hurt him, and i truly can envision all of this finally connecting at some point because it simply makes so much sense, what u want is there —ur just yet to know exactly what u want, and how it's already there; who u want it from, who makes u want it. THEM being together makes so much sense, and it's gonna be so easy then (after all the hard parts) because they just work. So powerfully, so beautifully: they work. And we see that, everyone around them probably does too, we feel that so intensely that it feels like a crime to not realize how much sense it makes for them to be with eachother.

That's why it inspires so much violence out of me when hirano is like this like i just need to hate crime him for putting me through this😭😭. It all has me feeling a lot (can u tell lol), but on the other hand i'm just so sure of them???? and i'm just waiting for them to meet me there??? Things just have to connect, and they will, because they are everything the other wants and it all just has to come together. there's another that just absorbs the big picture, sighs like a very old and unconditionally patient person would(?, and just appreciates them for being the mess that they are, for bringing some drama into my life, living and learning and trying to figure things out even in ways that sometimes make me cringe and cause the dramatic part of me to want to rip my head off and put it in a blender. They're getting there and i trust them and love them as if they were my kids or something

And lastly, seriously WHAT is that face?? (no bc let me emphasize that, it has to be done) I'll tell u: that's the face of gay. Gay blush. Gay thougths. Everything gay. There's no denying the gay. Maybe he can try to deny it but the thing is he has no proof he's not gay meanwhile i have 17 chapters AND MORE to back me up, if he fights me on this i'll END him

ALSO, it does things to me seeing the way hirano looks and melts at kagi being all focused and motivated because KAGI'S NOT LOOKING AT HIM at those moments, he's just in the zone looking very hot and it hits hirano like a truck and he doesn't get to see hirano in that exact moment😭😭. oh my god this patern is certainly repeating a lot before there's a crash. Hello! Feel free to ignore this, but I wanted to give my two cents about the MC's initial personality while playing. Now, this may be blunt, but at first, I was incredibly disappointed. Usually, I tend to play stoic/quiet MCs who don't lash or speak out, and it seemed to be quite the opposite to the distrusting and stoic mc in the game. However, I was thinking extremely hard about this, and I actually get why the MC was so outspoken, especially when V literally pointed a gun at them. Stoic and stubborn MC, from what I saw in the prologue, could easily be more nonchalant *before* the alien invasion, but that, obviously, changed. When C found them and brought them to the hideout, I didn't take into account that MC was in a vulnerable position, and I only focused on the part that MC hadn't interacted with another person in years. So, yeah, of course, MC may be overwhelmed, but their not gonna let people (V *cough*) walk all over them. I guess the thing was that I was so used to stoic MCs in IFs just standing on the sidelines and observing, but that is obviously not that kind of IF. The thing that had gotten to me the most, however, was the second-hand embarrassment of MC actually talking back to V after he blatantly insults them because I could never😭 I guess what I am trying to say is that even though I was seriously taken aback, none of the characters (including MC) are not gonna be 2-dimensional (as you have stated multiple times), and it has definitely grown on me, even if the MC was a little more of a fire-cracker than I expected. I am really looking forward to seeing where you take this story, and I will absolutely be eating it up because even if I might have to be tossing my phone across the room occasionally (bc my second-hand embarrassment is so easily triggered😭😭), I cannot get enough of your writing and characters!! I hope this made sense because I was just rambling about my take on if you are willing to make the MC a little more stoic or have some mute choices, which I am not against, but at the end of the day, I will still be reading the fuck out of Memento Mori! I appreciate your super-thorough analysis of both MC's personality and also your initial/developing reaction to it!

Just wanna offer some perspective on why I'm writing MC the way I am (you've already nailed a lot of the points but this is gonna be a succinct explanation from my head hehe)

MC is ultimately a fully fledged character in Memento Mori. While writing, I have about six different MC's in my head, each with distinct personalities, motives, and reactions to events. As I'm writing Ch. 2 in particular, I'm using these characters to influence the choices available and the stat checks necessary for certain actions. MC was never going to be a self insert. I love a good self insert sometimes, but it doesn't work with this if!

What makes characters feel realistic and multi-dimensional to me is their ability to break out of their different archetypes. We all know the ones like The Mean Girl or the Shy Kid or the Comic Relief. We can use your Stoic!MC example. Do we as humans act the same exact way every single day with every single event and interaction? No, we don't. Because we are complex, muli-faceted individuals that can have conflicting thought and actions, or opinions. What makes a character feel flat is when they are only given like 3 personality traits and stick to those regardless of what happens around them in the story.

So in Memento Mori, your Stoic!MC will have moments where they're outspoken and opinionated. The Charming!MC will lose their cool and lash out rather than smooth talk. The Friendly!MC will snap at someone without thinking. We aren't perfect, neither is MC, and I think that adds dimension to what can easily be a very blank slate kind of character. This isn't exclusive to MC, either! Veronica/Vincent will be nice to you sometimes for seemingly no reason. Zero will have moments where he is not okay and rejects your comfort when he reads it as pity. Cecelia/Chase will not always be the bouncy comic relief that uses humor to make everyone smile.

To add insult to MC's injury, like you mentioned in your ask, they are suffering from extreme amounts of PTSD and trauma. They have lost everyone and everything, they're a young adult living in complete isolation for two years. They're starving, they're injured, they hate themselves and being alive. It's going to take them a while to feel like themselves. In the span of one day, they've been nearly killed by a monster, then they're covered in blood guts and sweat when they meet C, then C brings them to meet 6 other people (including two aliens) and now they're going on this extensive journey with complete strangers, while that very morning they were contemplating ending it all. it's a lot.

By the time MC meets V, they are already at their limit of dealing with bullshit so V pointing a gun at them was never going to fly. V insulting them was a no-go either. Now, in the future, MC can ignore V more often because they'll be less on edge than when they were all first introduced. Once they have time to process, then they can react what is most familiar and comfortable for them. It will take time.

I laughed when you called MC a firecracker! I'd say they're more...unpredictable as a character when they're under high stress. As time goes on, they'll adjust and mellow out in some ways, but right now? MC has had ENOUGH with feeling like shit all the time.

I'm really glad you were a bit embarrassed by MC talking back to V because that was my goal AHDSEWLKMFRLK it's supposed to feel a bit uncomfortable. It's MC trying to clap back on someone when they have lost most of their social skills. It made ME cringe while writing it. Like oof MC, just ignore them???!!!

I'll definitely be adding some more options to be a bit more stoic or selectively mute in chapter 2, and as for chapter 1, I think more options to stay silent while talking to Cecelia/Chase or when they're speaking with Delphine/V could be good too. I'll see how it flows!

You'll see at the beginning of Ch.2 that MC already feels a tiny bit better. Nothing much but at least they aren't alone anymore, and they have a hot shower and some real food. So small wins for MC!

D.I.N. — Up (2023): I’ve hyped this album up like endlessly this year because they are one of my favorite recent bands and I want them to get more recognition, but I’ve extra been replaying this album the last month or so because 1. The story I told earlier this month of hearing them come on before a concert on acid and how fucking transcendent and exciting that was 2. I JUST got to see them again last week and they put on suuuch a good show. They are also absolute sweethearts IRL. Song rec: “Try” or “Up.”

Foetus — Nail (1985): LOL ok normie rivethead answer sorry; I’ve loved Foetus for fucking forever but I’ve been revisiting his work recently coinciding with my Venture Bros rewatch to be entirely honest ahahaha. Anyway it’s a cold take I know but goddamn this album is a fucking masterpiece. Despite being an industrial legend I feel like Thirlwell does not get NEARLY enough acknowledgment for how absolutely incredible his work is, the merging of the orchestral-minded compositions and theatricality with his dirty nasty industrial sentimentality is just perfect. Song rec: “The Throne of Agony” or “Descent into the Inferno.”

I mean, I checked it out and enjoyed it, but it’s taken me a few years to actually sit down with it and fully appreciate how masterful this whole thing is. It’s really lovely, cEvin’s solo work is hiiiiighly underrated and this album has some amazing guest spots. I’ve been having a rough time sleeping recently and just putting it on and laying there with it on repeat has been super comforting tbh. Stephen Mallinder — tick tick tick (2022): Uh oh, me and Angel have the same album on our lists. Almost like we live together or something 🙈🙉🙊 For real though, this album is INCREDIBLE. Definitely one of my top favorites of the entirety of last year, maybe even my number one. This month was the anniversary of its release so I’ve been revisiting it a bunch. After so many years Mallinder continues to put out unique, experimental, interesting electronic music that stands out amongst everything else. This album has a very psychedelic, dreamy, transcendent feel to it without losing any danceability. Perfect for fucking, tripping at the beach, long car rides in the city at night, etc. Song rec: “Hush” or “ringdropp.”

Of course! Ruthie doesn't really have a background with anyone (other than knowing Trey and Che'nya and vaguely knowing who Riddle is), so she's essentially a clean slate, meaning that she has a lot of shipping potential! And Cater is a character I personally wouldn't have thought of, so it's very refreshing! Makes me think I should start considering other characters I might not have thought of too!

Plus I really appreciate your input and value your opinion, which is why I wanna make sure I fully consider Cater in depths!

Speaking of Cater! After reading up on him a bit, I think that him and Ruthie could potentially work? Maybe?? From what I read, it seems like other than moving around and never really staying one place, his family kind of pushed their own likes and wants onto him?

Like how he doesn't like sweets due to having to constantly eat them in his childhood, and how his sisters kept pushing their likes onto him (cute things, shopping, etc), making him feel like he couldn't be himself/have his own likes and wants. And then with all the moving he never really got close with anyone or anyone really know the real him.

With this in mind, all I can think about is Ruthie wanting him to be happy. Not only with himself, but as himself too. There is nothing wrong with liking certain things, disliking certain things, etc. And she would make it a point to let him know that.

I'm glad you like Adamina! I thought it was a nice name too! I'm having fun developing her and her friendship with Ruthie, it's very sweet!

Awwww double date with Daisy and Ruggie would be so cute! Also I had no idea that Cater and Ruggie commented on date spots in his platinum jacket vignette, that's such a funny coincidence! I love the fact Ruggie said the park since that's where I usually write him having his dates lol And I'm guessing Cater said a popular sight seeing spot due to the MagiCam potential, as I read that even though he doesn't like sweets, he still goes to cafes and such and orders sweets just to take a picture to post. Which honestly Ruthie likes sweets so maybe he takes her there and orders something and gives it to her after it takes the picture? That would be cute...

Oh goodness...yeah I can definitely see how Isabelle and Leona would be harder! I think the first time she would ask without thinking, but after reading the room she probably wouldn't ask again, as she wouldn't want to upset anyone (considering there relationship is complicated)

I also love fairy godmother characters so I thought the connection was cute too!

my mans tall, hes 180cm so if youre shorter than him if you allow it, he'll put his head on your head

if you hold his hand or give him a kiss on the cheek as a good luck before a mission in public, he would freeze and blush, poor man cant handle your cuteness

you two would for sure bake/cook together

if you make him a mousse cake (his favourite) he wouls go nuts in a good way

he does work for the union after all, he has missions to complete and peoples life could depend on it

- what inspires me to draw is always a very convoluted question and answer i think LOL….i find a lot of inspiration in various different things and places but i think the source i mainly draw my work from is just. Love. love for these characters love for their relationships and bonds and their stories….love for the world around me and the beauty of nature and humankind…idk i know its a corny answer but with so much negativity going around in the world right now i think it just makes me feel very good to just draw things that i love and that make me happy!!!

some artists i think i take a lot of inspo from style wise though are animatorroseoak and grinjaninja :3

- see it honestly depends on my energy level bc my fully rendered pieces can take a WHILE sometimes and its pretty easy for me to get frustrated if base colors aren’t working out for me or something HAHA… i think if i had the choice i would always rather have more finished art, but since thats definitely not possible with how long my art takes to complete i like having an outlet of quick sketches to throw out a lot of the ideas that take up space in my brain

- digital all the way!!! i adjust and resize my art a lot and the undo button is literally my CLUTCH so i always have trouble even sketching traditionally LOL. i actually used to be super big on traditional art when i was younger to the point where i have a huge collection of alcohol markers that i probably just cant see myself using anymore which sucks because those things are SO EXPENSIVE 😭😭 but idk ill probably find something to do with them eventually. we’ll see

- unfortunately this answer is incredibly anticlimactic compared to the other three bc its currently ARTFIGHT SEASON and i’ve been devoting literally all my energy into that……therefore i have not gotten to work on any personal art in a while. 😢 i have a whole LIST of ideas to pick from that i want to draw out though……so as soon as this wraps up were back on the grind baby. i rlly want to draw them with their kids and probably some modern au junk

hm idk. i feel like before chapter 5, i was being biased and pushy saying she should end up with hobi at the end of the story but hearing about her struggles.. its just making me wish the worst on the members cause they really left a woman pregnant with twins to work for 8 months whilst they lived lavish lives without a care. like thats genuinely insane. there’s no amount of time or apology that, for me personally, could ever fully heal that pain. like i get her letting him meet the kids and letting them establish their own relationship but i feel like the best option for oc is to fully shut that romantic chapter and branch out to something new. i know it’s sometimes better to forgive and move on but i hate that he kinda skipped out on the hard years and get to be around for the somewhat easier part of parenthood😭 he was never there for oc when the babies woke up at midnight and both needed to be fed. also, jins excuse is so weak. he’s a fully grown, capable adult who had full power over whether or not to communicate with oc and he chose not to. him saying he didn’t speak to her cause of hobi is so annoying and i wish he truly took full⁉️ responsibility and admitted that he was for sure in the wrong. it wasn’t a case of “i didnt wanna chose a side” and it will never be watered down into something that simple !

i completely agree that the boys had it easy and could live a comfortable life without knowing about the twins, especially hobi! there's nothing easy about raising a child, let alone raising two alone so for them to leave a pregnant woman to fend for herself regardless of whether or not they is just downright nasty 😔 people could argue that it's bc they assumed she cheated but they're also grown men who could've talked things out with oc as well! hobi will never know the first time struggles of being a parent and i think oc will always resent him deep down inside for that.

jin's excuse was very weak and he tried copping out of the fact that his choice to ghost oc was just as bad as hobi's choice to breakup with her! a big emphasis on him being a fully grown, capable adult bc he knew better but chose to take the easy way out. definitely should not have watered it down to taking sides but that's why he's going to continue groveling!

But you also get to sleep the whole night since Time, Warriors, and Legend are taking watch tonight.

"Hey Darlin'," Twilight says as he sits down on the log beside you. "You feelin' okay?"

"Just- tired." You say, leaning against him and stealing his warmth.

"Hm, I bet. Wild's makin' you that hearty stew you like so much."

"He spoils me."

"I don't blame him." Twilight says as he slings an arm over your shoulder, pulling you closer.

"You're sweet."

"Yeah, I reckon so."

"Hey, Firefly." Wild says as he moves back over to the fire with a cooking pot. "Is Twi being good to you?"

"Yeah."

"Good."

You feel a smile spread as you lean again Twilight and watch Wild set up for cooking dinner.

Today sucked- but it dosen’t anymore.

Twilight kisses your forehead gently. "You lookin' forwards to dinner?"

He just holds you close, glad to have ypu with him.

Wild puts the last of the ingredients in, stirring before her turns to face you fully. His face is soft and the smile gracing his features is gentle.

"Buttercup, you really are the best of us."

"I am not."

Twilight grins, leaning his head against your's, "He's right. You're the best pitcher of any of us."

"I am not! You guys are all really cool-"

"You're the kindest out fmof us. And most definitely the most good looking." Wild says as he moves to sit on your other side.

You aren't sure how to convince them otherwise... bit it's nice to have them on either side.

Wild kisses your cheek with an obnoxious and overly dramatic "mwah". Grinning when it makes you laugh.

"We love a lot." Twilight says, knowing he speaks for himself and Wild.

Wild nods as he takes your hand closets to him and inclines your all's fingers together. "We really do."

"Oh, I love you both, too. So much." You say, heart swelling with something giddy and light.

"Good."

"I think cuddles are in order tonight." Twilight says, not an official member of the cuddle group, but he joins often enough.

"Yes!"

Wild laughs, and he is a member of the cuddle group - usually sprawled across you, in fact.

"I should go work on dinner, but I really wanted to make sure you were doing okay." Wild says as he sets a hand on your shoulder.

"I am. I'm much better. Thank you Wild."

"Of children," he kisses your forehead gently before he stands and moves back towards the fire and cooking pot.

Twilight just holds you, warm and solid, even as the air starts to chill. "Take a nap, I'll wake you when dinner is done."

Hi, Aly! I’m Sarah. 😊 I just wanted and needed to stop by and tell you how much I love Psychomanteum. I’ve seriously been trying to figure out how to best tell you this for like a week now. That probably sounds weird, but I just really feel like you deserve the best praise I can give. I still don’t think I can even properly express to you just how fucking much I love it. I have to go ahead and try, though, because I can’t hold it in any longer.

I guess I need to first explain that my usual process when reading fics is to reblog after each chapter. This can take me some time because I try to pick out at least one thing about it that I really enjoyed and I don’t always have the brainpower to do that right away, so then I have to wait to move onto the next chapter. Anyway, I’ve been dealing with a lot of shit the past couple weeks that’s totally drained me mentally and I’ve been having a hard time gathering my thoughts and expressing them. Because of that, I read Psychomanteum all the way through. But I didn’t only read it that way because of my lack of brainpower, but also because I love it so damn much that I just couldn’t wait for potentially weeks to finish it all by going through my usual process. I most definitely will be rereading it more than once, and I promise you, I will reblog every chapter with at least a little feedback for each one. That’s important to me.

Anyway, here’s the part (telling you how I feel about your fic) that I don’t really know how to properly express because my brain sucks right now. But I’m gonna try my best…

Psychomanteum is one of my favorite things I’ve ever read. Like not just fanfic. Out of everything I’ve ever read. No joke. You can fucking WRITE! Holy fucking shit, you write so beautifully. I’m moved by every word. Everything about it is just wonderful. Dieter was already one of my favorite PP characters, but now, because of your fic, he’s even more special to me. I love your Dieter so much. And I love Reader/Lua just as much. I feel like I can fully immerse myself into this world because it feels so real. When I’m reading it, everything else around me dissolves and fades away and it’s just me and your story. It’s an emotional rollercoaster that I never want to get off of. I read chapter 10 last night and that’s when I decided I couldn’t wait any longer to reach out to you. I cried. It moved me so much, I fucking cried. But a good cry!

It’s truly one of most beautiful stories I’ve ever read. Thank you so much for sharing it. It’s been a huge source of comfort for me. Extra thanks for that. You should also know that I didn’t just stumble across it on my dash. A friend highly recommended it to me. She was blown away by it, too.
