Hair Care T | 1,749 words Prompt for @steddielovemonth: Love is what makes you brave
Steve learnt early on that if he makes his hair all soft, fluffy and big, then girls would play with his hair. He's always loved having people touching his hair.
But after the Demogorgon, after he gets his act together? Suddenly, no one wants to touch his hair. No one comments on it, or even looks at it like they're so much as thinking about it.
And it is driving Steve insane.
"I can't just ask for it!" He complains. "That's weird and- and what if they take it the wrong way? What if I sound too weird or desperate?"
"I'm the wrong person for the weird complaint," Eddie points out. "And I still don't get the problem. What about Robin?"
Robin is convinced that all his little lines, trying to encourage attention towards his hair as subtly as he can, are all pick-up lines.
To be fair to her, she has only ever seen him using said lines when he's flirting. But they're supposed to be little hints, a nudge and a wink. Friendly- playful even.
But, because of that, he has a nasty feeling that she would take any hint or request about his hair as romantic. And the last thing Steve wants to do is make Robin uncomfortable.
"Ok, yeah, I see the problem there," Eddie hums, considering. "What about the kids? El and Max. They adore you and love playing with each others hair."
El had asked to play with his hair once.
She'd heard, somehow, that his hair is 'famous' in Hawkins and had wanted to see why. She encouraged Max to join her, even though she mostly ended up petting him like a dog.
Max had seemed to enjoy it more than El, but not by much, and the snickers from the other kids had been enough for him to refuse to let them "go again".
He's the babysitter, he needs at least some dignity.
"But did you like it?" Eddie presses.
"Well, yeah," Steve mumbles, snuffing his slipper on the carpet. "It was nice or whatever. Not worth the jabs though."
"Why not?"
"I don't know. Didn't feel worth it."
"Hmm..." Eddie pauses again, frowning as he looks him over. "Well... what was it specifically about what they did that was so nice? Has anyone else done that for you?"
Tommy used to play with his hair constantly. He was a quick learner and, with how much Carol visibly and vocally enjoyed watching them, there wasn't any shame.
They both seemed to enjoy themselves more whenever they could convince Steve to sit on the floor, so Tommy could scratch at his head more effectively.
"Which..." Steve pauses, frowning. "In retrospect was probably some weird power play thing. Like, I was the king at school but a dog at home."
"Yikes."
"Yeah."
But they knew exactly what he liked and they were good at it.
Tommy knew that he loves the back of his ears scratched, likes the small strands at his neck tugged. He knew that Steve loved the feeling of fingers brushing his fringe back, especially when he'd get rough and push his head back a little with the motion.
They knew what he needed.
"Well... I could do that," Eddie suggests. "I mean... if you want. It's not like it would be a hardship."
"Really? You wouldn't be uncomfortable?"
"Not at all. As long as you're ok with it, it's all good."
"That- yeah. Yeah, I'm on with that."
That's how it starts.
Steve had sat on the floor, in front of the sofa where Eddie was sat. It reminded him of Tommy for a moment, but Eddie quickly brought him back to the moment with a hand on his shoulder.
"This alright for you?" He asked, squeezing gently when Steve nodded. "Alright. Just let me know if it's bad, too much or you want to stop."
"Okay."
He had thought that would be it, though. Moments when they hung out in private, a thing for them that no one else was allowed in on.
But Eddie starts playing with his hair. All the time.
If he can find an excuse, he abuses it. Even in Family Video, busy with people and customers lining up in front of Robin, right next to them. Eddie just... leans forward, reaches out and pushes his hair back.
He does it so casual, so out in the open, that- somehow- Robin is the only one who gives them a strange look.
On movie nights, he's started putting a pillow down on the floor between his feet. When Steve comes in with popcorn, Eddie gives it a pointed look and raises an eyebrow at him.
It's so much, so often. Steve loves it, has never been so happy for so long. It leaves him feeling high sometimes.
All good things, for him, come to an end though. And his comes in the form of Robin Buckley.
"I'm not saying I have a problem with any of it!" She clarifies, right off the bat. "If it's just a friendship thing, that's amazing. I love how happy you are, really, and I don't want that to go away, and I know-"
"Robs," Steve interrupts. "Slow down. I don't know what you're trying to say."
She stood, staring at him for a moment, seeming to vibrate with her need to speak, before finally blurting out-
"Are you and Eddie dating?"
"Wh- what? No, that's... no. Why do you, uhm, think that?"
"Steve," she whines. "I know about your hair lines, remember? One of them must have worked with how addicted he's got to yours."
"Oh, that... no, that's not what's happened. Those aren't lines, I just... I really like people playing with my hair."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"Wait, that still sounds suspicious. He plays with your hair all the time because he knows how much you like it?"
"No one else was going to."
"Oh my god," she rolls her eyes, stepping closer so she lightly tug at his hair. "I would have been doing this all the time if I knew it was ok!"
"Oh, uh, sorry?"
"No apologies, just tell me when you started crushing on Munson."
"How-?"
"I know you, dingus. Apparently not as well as I had hoped I did, but I do. And you're gone on him. When. Did it start?"
The first time Steve realized that he was feeling more than 'friendship feelings' for Eddie was when he was eating at his new trailer.
Wayne had come home early and was surprised to see that Eddie had a guest over.
But Eddie was too busy jumping up, excited to introduce them, to notice.
"Wayne! This is Steve, I've told you about Steve, he's great," Eddie said. "Steve, this is my uncle, Wayne. He's amazing, don't worry, he doesn't bite."
Steve had quickly stood extending an arm, and introduced him properly. He made sure to add a quick 'sir' at the end.
Wayne had quickly dismissed the title, turning to Eddie with a fond look, and said, "what was it you called him? Pr-"
"Shut up," Eddie was fast to interrupt, hands waving around.
And Steve realized that he was feeling hope. He was filled with hope that Eddie had said what his uncle seemed to about to say.
He realized that he wanted Eddie to think of him as pretty. He wanted Eddie to find him so pretty that he told his uncle.
It was a warm feeling, fluttering through his stomach- a feeling that he is all too familiar with.
"I'm gagging," Robin says, monotone. "But that does help."
"Help? How?"
"Uh, because he's obviously into you too!"
"Robs, I don't know..."
"Come on, it'll be easy. He already likes you, so you don't have to try so hard. Just a little thing that lets him know you like him. One of your moves-"
"No, Robs... I'm sure that he likes me too, at least a little, that's not the problem."
"What is them?"
"I... I've never, like... been with a guy. What if I do it wrong?"
"Steve," Robin grabs both of his shoulders. "He likes you. All you have to be is yourself."
"I don't know if I c-"
"You can, and you will. We'll think of a plan that cannot fail, you'll put on your brave pants, and we'll kick this problems ass."
"My brave pants? It's brave face."
"No, I mean those pants that you're always saying make your ass look good. Those are your brave pants."
"... Ok, yeah, they are."
It doesn't take them long to settle in a plan. It's simple, easy. It shouldn't give Steve enough time to doubt himself.
Eddie arrives on time, knocking on the door at the exact time it turns four p.m.
"Hi!" Steve greets, wincing at how overenthusiastic he is. "Come in."
"You alright?"
"Yeah, fine, just... slow day. Too much energy. Come on, I made too much food earlier if you want some."
"You know I'll never turn down free food, Stevie."
Over dinner, Steve starts to finally relax. Eddie is, as always, easy to talk too.
When they step into the living room, Steve snatches the pillow off Eddie before he can put it on the floor and places it in Eddies lap instead.
"Oh, uh," Eddie stutters, eyebrows high, staring down at Steve who did not hesitate to rest his head on the pillow in his lap. "You- yeah?"
"Yeah," Steve agrees. "You alright with this?"
"Yes- yeah, this- of course."
"Great!"
Steve stretches to the coffee table, handing Eddie the remote.
He doesn't pay attention to whatever Eddie puts on though. He can't stop thinking about how he's laying, how Eddie's hand feels so much more gentle in his hair.
Eventually, he turns so he's on his back. He catches Eddie's hand before he can pull away, waiting until Eddie looks him in the eye before pulling his hand close enough to kiss his palm.
But, instead of surprise, Eddie sighs. His shoulders drop, smiling wide- relieved.
"You're so pretty," Steve says, pushing through the confusion he feels at Eddies reaction. "And I, uh... I really like you, Ed."
"Yeah?" Eddies eyes scrunch with how wide his smile is, shifting his hand out of Steves hold so he can brush the back of his knuckles along his cheek. "Little ol' me?"
"Yeah. I'm- I mean, you're funny and you care... you're just... it's too soon to say love, I know, but-"
"I love you too."

max's role in the party:
a runner - fast and quiet, tends to be the one who makes out with the most supplies
mechanic - knows best about cars and is one of the party's designated drivers (the other being mike)
medic - not as skilled with plants and medicine like will, but is good with first aid and physical treatment!
thief - who the party sends out if they need to "borrow" from other groups (second nature to her)
skills + hobbies:
incredible with melee weapons and hand-to-hand combat -> everything she knows was taught to her by billy
decent shot, but prefers using melee way more!
stealthy, like a ninja - her and el are the quietest in the party! max's fighting style is much more brawler-like despite this
good with card games (likes poker, speed and BS) -> likes to play them with the party a lot, but in particular with dustin and lucas
skateboards whenever she can -> her favorite thing to do next to driving!
really loves listening to music (fave artists are madonna, taylor swift and destiny's child) -> likes having el or will in shotgun so they can listen together!
quirks / fun facts:
whenever dustin goes to bed, max takes his current handheld and tries to beat his high score on whatever retro game he's currently playing (dustin does not know its max who's actively beating his ass on dig dug and tetris)
she took billy's jacket and baseball bat and made them her own - very complicated relationship with him and her upbringing with her stepbro made her very skeptical and suspicious of others (especially the party when she first met them)
when she steals things, she tries to keep the party in mind when grabbing extra :')
--- other notes: ladies and gentlemen, our newest addition - maxine! i'll admit, the two characters i think i'm most shoddy on for their characterizations are dustin and max. since max's story in my au is so heavily tied to her issues with trusting people again (specifically men) and family, i'm scared that it will make her character intrinsically tied to relationships instead of having her own character. i'll try my very best for it not to be that way, of course!
for now, she's how i imagine her in the show - she's still a cheeky, sarcastic, stubborn and awesome tomboy with insurmountable trust and distance issues, and i love her for that! the circumstances that drew her to the party are currently a secret, but i will establish now that billy is tied to her storyline and how the party meets her for the first time - while billy's an interesting character in his own right, i straight up don't like him :P so i'm warning people now that billy's more a plot device for max's arc and i probably won't be diving incredibly deep into his character. this is a party centric au after all!
when i was thinking of max's character, i was trying to keep the things she liked in mind and why she was so cool in the first place! ofc, she had to skateboard, even if it was only a little, and she's honestly just great at games in general (to dustin's dismay).
her upbringing in canon and the way she acts is pure "survival instinct" behavior. she knows first aid, she knows how to drive, she escapes vecna, she's incredibly independent! she's a fighter, through and through. she's also not really one to hesitate often to be hands on, and i can see it in the way she acted seasons 2-4 :')
lucas is almost done - maybe a few days give or take!

Please, list those blatant Byler proofs. I need to convince my friend.
let me first give you some advise. If you need to convice your friend that byler is endgame, don't talk about Mike looking at Will's lips or about the Tarzan song that is played during byler's ROM fight cause those things can only be accepted if the person believes in byler endgame at least a little bit. Also avoid mentionning the fact that the Duffers wouldn't have made Will fall in love with Mike just for him to be rejected cause straight people won't eat that since there are literally many examples of unrequired love in straight stories so why would it be different for queer stories?
Here are the stuffs that are blatantly obvious:
1- During the scene where Mike was standing in front of a vending machine, he wanted a specific snack: rainbow Skittles (interesting, right?). But if you notice closely, El gave him all the snacks except the one Mike really wanted, which indirectly means that El cannot provide Mike with what he truly desires in everyday life (it's not negative! it's just that they are not compatible).
2- Mike is unable to behave normally with Will when El is around. As soon as El leaves, he starts to get closer to Will again and adopts the gentle tone he often uses when confiding in Will! To me, you can't change your behavior with someone without reason!
3- Stancy and Mileven are the only two duos who needed an "I love you" to prove their love to each other! They are also the only two duos whose Duffers have strongly emphasized why they broke up, whereas, for example, we know that Lumax often argue but the Duffers never tell us why. They don't focus on their breakup but rather on their reconciliation. The reason for focusing on Mike and El's breakups, therefore, has significance. The Duffers want to show us that they only break up over trivial matters and that El can be completely happy without Mike.
4- The final scene at the end of the last season is very important. We see that all the endgame couples (even Lumax) are together, but who isn't? Mileven. Also, you can see that, on the other hand, Byler is the only "friends" duo that are paired up and conveniently placed at the center of the landscape. This clearly shows that Byler will have great significance in season 5 and they won't just remain friends.
5- Mike's monologue is the only touching moment in all of Stranger Things where the Duffers focused more on the reactions of others than on the main characters themselves! Why did the Duffers prefer to show us Jonathan's face (angry with Mike) and Will (who looked the worst) rather than just showing Mike and El? And why, while Mike was giving his monologue, did El need to think of Max to increase her strength? So, Mike's monologue wasn't enough to help her! As luck would have it, the flashback of Max and El that we have is: "We don't need those stupid boys." Really, El? After he gave you that monologue, you're thinking about that? This clearly suggests that either El didn't care about what Mike was saying or she doesn't completely believe what Mike is saying. There are no other explanations. She can't want to hear "I love you" from Mike and then, when she gets what she wants, pretend she doesn't care and think to herself, "I don't need those stupid boys."

Do you have any idea what the Party’s reaction to “Boy with a Bat” would be, specifically El and the Byers clan?
after steve hears the album for the first time, eddie’s next port of call is of course the assorted hopper-byers clan. it’s pretty fortuitous, that he finished the album when he did, just before they were all coming together for terry’s birthday at the old dairy farm in memphis, indiana. (or maybe not; eddie’s a planner, okay?)
but so he’s got the whole gang under one roof; and while he would’ve gone on the great american road trip with the master, that would’ve been a real bitch of a time suck, and the studio was breathing down his neck. plus, he wanted to drop it on steve’s birthday anyway, because eddie’s a big gestures guy, sue him or whatever.
he holds court in the dairy barn, because it feels right. still smells like hop’s smokes, if he closes his eyes and breathes deep. the boys and max all love it, when they listen, though they maintain that they didn’t ever need to know that much about his and steve’s sex lives, thanks. mostly, they argue amongst themselves about whose voice is whose, and loudly inform eddie he’s a fucking creep for recording them without their knowledge, and demand royalties. will, with his face like an angel and truly hilarious bitchy streak that eddie is convinced he learned from steve, mean girl extraordinaire, looks eddie dead in the eye when steve’s laugh fades into the next track and says very seriously, “that is so gay, man.”
(he gives him a hug when it’s finished too, says, “you’re gonna make history with this one, eddie. i know it. thank you.”)
jonathan holds him for a really long time, after, and doesn’t say much, but the two of them never needed a lot of words between them: freaks to the end, baby.
nancy and robin roll their eyes and echo the kids’s sentiments when they get their listens. (even though eddie knows for a fact robin was well read into steve’s sex life, because they’re the biggest pair of codependent weirdos he’s ever met, and eddie fucking knows from codependent weirdos these days; and he’s not a prude, far from it, but knowing one of your best gals learned to go down on a chick through the verbal teachings of the man you love? well the less said there the better, and he doesn’t care if it makes him a hypocrite, buckley, get off my dick) (gross, she said, anyway isn’t that steve’s job?) but they’re both misty eyed when they emerge, and tell him he did good.
madchen high fives him; argyle does too, and tells him he’s gonna play it on a loop on his show for days when it drops.
but they’re not the first people to hear it after steve. see, “boy with a bat”? it’s an album for steve, sure — even more so than all of eddie’s other albums — and it’s filled with love songs for him, about him, because of him — because they were always, already for him, he’s just finally explicit with it. (pun intended, hit the high hat, boys!) 
but it’s also an album for a family, the family that horror and tragedy and love, so much love, built. because eddie wasn’t there for the beginning of it all, but he knows how the story started, and how the story ended: one woman’s love for the son she nearly lost, and one man’s love for the daughter he found, and this, all around them — it was all the house jim built, in the end.
so, after steve, he starts with el and joyce. 
el’s listened to a lot of eddie’s jams first over the years, to be totally truthful. hell, his first album was named for her; as much as steve’s his muse, so is this little fucking superhero and she’s had shotgun (once again, pun very much intended) on first listens for years.
he takes her by the hand first into the old dairy parlor, sits her down, and hits play before he leaves. she comes out at the halfway point, face tear stained but determined, always so determined, and drags him back inside with her in silence. she pushes him to sit on the ground and then lies down with her head in his lap, and they finish out eddie’s magnum opus or whatever like that.
the record spins into static, and she says, “i liked that very much.”
“i’m glad,” he said. “i, uh, i have some unused tape, with some other stuff from your old man. mainly him yelling at the boys. you want me to send you it?”
“yes,” she says. “i do not know if i’m ready for more, yet. but i will be someday.”
“you sure will, super girl,” he tells her.
as for mrs h — because that’s how he’s always known her, you know? — well, joyce punches him right in the mouth when she emerges. she’s crying and laughing when she does it, so it hurts exactly zero percent, and steve totally laughs his fucking ass off next to him while she does it. 
“hey! i’m being assaulted!”
“you deserve it, baby,” he says, basically in hysterics.
but joyce is wrapping him up in a Mom Hug (TM), all firm and boney, her head under his chin, her wet face on his clavicle. she says, “you’re a menace, ed munson-levy. but thank you for giving him back to me, even if it was just for forty-eight minutes.”

Honestly I am not like super headcanon forward as a watcher because I think I have expectations trust issues from other television and therefore stick to what I can see on screen before speculating, BUT!
Headcanons + some things I would love to see explored (that aren’t just aggressive amounts of pining byler)?
The whole “Will is suppressed in his queerness being attached to soteria/suppression of powers” is like. 11/10 concept imo. It goes along with horror history so well (shout out @pinkeoni for that analysis) and plays so well into the whole relating to “Alan Turing” bit that we were introduced to start of S4, given his history as a gay man.
re, the last point: the contrast in queerness between Mike and Will being explored as someone who shows more blatant attraction to men but struggles to accept it as an identity versus someone who accepts their identity while suppressing their attraction (by outside forces or not) is also a dynamic I think would be cool to explore. I am not an ace Will truther at all but. I do think he shies away from his own sexuality a lot in a way they don’t do with Mike.
I really want “samfro caught on mount doom together while the rest of the fellowship fights an army” byler vibes—something about El and Lucas as Aragorn & Legolas with Dustin (Gimli) and Erica (Merry/Pippin) while Will struggles with feeling alone carrying the heavy burden of a connection to Vecna? Some “I can’t carry it for you, but I can carry you” heroism from Mike? El getting a moment to reunite with Max (Arwen) at the hand of Lucas, just like in Return of the King? Fucking mint lmao
I need scenes of Max in whatever place she’s still alive in like I need oxygen. Working from “the inside” to do exposition on Henry + the UD while she’s in a coma while the party sorts through it in Hawkins feels like such a phenomenal writing opportunity I’ll be desperately sad if they don’t explore it. I hope they include some elements of like. The duality of presence a la The Talisman in that given Lucas was reading it to her in the hospital? But 🤷🏽‍♀️
GIVE ME TIME FKERY OR GIVE ME DEATH. I know it’s pretty much guaranteed at this point but. I need Mr. Clarke back stat, with some convoluted ass theory explained on a paper plate again. I need the most elaborate UD reality just, absolutely borderline nonsensical lore for like a full episode so I can watch this series back again and see it from SECOND ONE (or minute 8:15) and giggle like a schoolgirl knowing the duffers really are smart/the haters were wrong.
I want more Wheelers! I know Nancy is central to the supernatural given she was the only other one pulled in by Vecna and not killed—just sent as a messenger—but. I have so many Wheeler and Creel thoughts at this point I don’t know where to start, but. They are the PERFECT family for exploring picture-perfection against horror themes (just like the Creels) and I want it. Like “don’t care how, I want it now” level focus on them, along with their Byers.
I said it before but: an exploration of motherhood as a theme makes so much sense to me, and it seems to be important to The Duffers too, so. I want it.
Kinda want RoVickie as the couple who introduces the idea of the supernatural + queerness v Hawkins element at the start of the season, and for byler to be the ones who “end it.” I think that would be a fascinating way to parallel them more, though…I haven’t much thought this through.
If they don’t make Finn Wolfhard sob his little eyes out this season I’m going to feel betrayed. I need him like. Noah level pressed at least once next season, for the culture (Finn said he wanted to do more dramas. Let him defeat the bad actor allegations here so they let him LMAOOOO)

RaF Timeline, 1-UCN
“Everything is left up to interpretation”
aka. Afton Era.
RaF’s story is very makeshift and collaged together by what fnaf has presented to us and from what I can gather. There are a lot of things I changed and added mostly for storytelling consistency and because I didn't like what Canon did.
Any recent canonical conformations on lore as of 2023 will not be part of this timeline because this was constructed into final stages prior to that new info, and I really don’t want to have to rewrite parts of this timeline because of certain details being confirmed in 2023 or 2024.
Anyway, I hope this info is helpful when you read this.
Also each chapter will have a year marker, to help the timeline flow
Chapter 0, "Where it All Started," 1974-1975
Raf's story starts off with the grand opening of 'Chica's pizza parlor' in fall of 1974, this establishment is owned by the company 'El Chip Emporium' which was founded by Alfred Williams and Max Lane. Only a couple months after the parlor's opening, another diner-esk location would open called 'Fredbears Family Diner' owned by Henry Emily and William Afton. This location would have opened in the spring of 1975.
Most of the beginning of this story is pretty peaceful until the "disappearance" of Susie Lee's dog Milo.
William Afton, would discover a little something called Remnant.

Chapter 1, "Play Test" 1978
Once William discovers some of Remnant’s capabilities, he decides to see if he can harness it for his own means, specifically immortality, so he needs to get more from a bigger and better source. Chica's pizza parlor would close in the summer of 1978 due to the death of Susie Lee. William would use the parlor as a test if he could kill and get away with it, body found or not. He would finally do his first collection of Remnant in his own diner using the fredbear suit as a "capsule." Cassidy Henderson would disappear along with the fredbear suit, and neither would be found.

Chapter 2, "Familiar faces, New friends" late 1978
Fredbears needed an expansion. At least William said it was needed. That is when we meet some new yet familiar faces, them being Freddy bear, Bonnie bunny, and Chica chicken. Fredbears would gain the rights to chica chicken by 'El Chip Emporium', but she is still owned by El Chips. A new face by the name of Foxy would be added for some extra entertainment. Due to the disappearance of fredbear, an older model of fredbear would be taken out of storage and was to be used until the official fredbear was found. This expansion would be very beneficial for fredbears, growing in popularity shortly after. Due to this, William grew envious of Henry's skill, so he decided to start his own business in hopes of proving himself superior to Henry. This expansion would have happened during late 1978.

Chapter 3, “Greatest show unearthed” 1979-1980
Afton robotics would be established, and the first location owned by the company would be created called ‘Circus Baby’s Pizza World’ which opened in the summer of 1979. Afton would have worked tirelessly to complete this project and this project would have animatronic attractions called "the funtimes" they were afton’s biggest project and his biggest failure (I'll elaborate on that later.), Aftons least favorite thing about working on his project was when he had to ask Henry for help. (Afton sucks at character design, so he needed help.)
While to many it appeared like just another entertainment establishment, for Afton it was perfect for him to continue his plan in collecting Remnant and his immortality project. This location would be a huge hit with little holding it back, except for a short time closed due to an issue with the springlock suit funtime bonnie, due to this issue he would be decommissioned, but other then that little stood in the locations way. As 1980 went by, 3 children seemed to just disappear, these three kids would be Rose Adam, Rodger and Matheew gardner. This location would come crashing down to a close with ̶T̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶e̶a̶t̶h̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶E̶l̶i̶z̶a̶b̶e̶t̶h̶ ̶A̶f̶t̶o̶n̶ an abrupt gas leak.

Chapter 4, "Domino effect" late 1981
The Afton Family wasn't perfect, far from it, and it always seemed one thing would cause the whole family to come crumbling apart. That event just so happened to be Elizabeth's death. This death would cause a massive rift between William and the rest of the family, specifically between him and his wife Michelle. Elizabeth's death devastated Michelle and learning that William's creation was the cause felt like a spear going through her heart, her pain and fear would boil and manifest into paranoia of the same thing happening to Michael and Joseph (crying child.) William and Michelle would bicker and fight until Michelle had finally had enough and wanted a divorce… she would never be able to go through with the divorce as she would be murdered in the night by william.
Game appearances in chapter: none, we'll technically in midnight motorist, the weird pile of dirt you can find is a reference I would use to what William did with Michelle's body.
Chapter 5, "You are the face of freddy fazbears pizza." 1983
William needed to start testing Remnants. He needed to learn what it could control and cling to. He also needs to know what a person can remember, and if they can function in a different body, it's all for his own benefit later. He would have tested the Remnant from the 4 kids that uh got yoinked at CBPW's on the funtimes. It was a failed success, he wanted to learn more about Remnant’s capabilities and he did learn more at a price of learning the souls remember his face, and have a bad reaction to learning all bodily functions are gone. it failed because the funtimes and the souls inhabiting them are aggressive towards him and not willing to obey him, he would get royally fucked up by them and would never come back down to the facility after that. Fredbears was all William had for a job and for his work. Jeremy Howard would have gone missing in September of 1983, and his two best friends, Gabriel Cooper and Fritz Simmons, would follow suit only a few days after. I think we all know who was responsible for their disappearances.

Chapter 6, "Thank you for bringing us home." 1983
While William is off um murdering and doing Remnant shit, his last two family members are uh not doing too well, Michael afton has so much pent-up anger from the loss of his sister and mother, the serious absence of his father, and desperation for his father to just acknowledge him(both Liz and Michael wanted William to just love them. Dad issue duo.) He began to torment his younger brother. Joseph Afton (C.C) is too afraid of his own home because of his brother's torment and his father's rare mistreatment and neglect. Joseph began to attempt finding comfort in his 'friends' as well as a being of his imagination created to be a placeholder for his sister and mom. As Joseph's birthday drew closer, Michael's torment got worse. It got bad to a point. Joseph was scared to go home and scared to go to Fredbears. Everything got even worse once the Nightmares started.

Chapter 7, "FNAF 4" 1983
Joseph began to have trouble sleeping and even when he could, all he had were Nightmares, the Nightmares were all about him being trapped in his room as nightmarish versions of his 'friends' all hunted him down. These nightmares happened for a while but only became frequent 5 days before his 10th birthday. His birthday would not go well. He would be tormented by Michael and his friend again, this time with a dark twist. I think you all know where this is going. Child put in Fredbear's mouth, hahaha oh shit kids head go smoosh, and dead. Joseph would die but not pass on. He would instead haunt his 'friends' as well as the fredbear plush and would begin to torment Michael in his dreams as revenge. Fredbears would close due to this incident.

Chapter 8, "The safest place on earth" early 1984
The Springlock suits have been discontinued, and Fredbears was rebranded to be ‘Freddy Bears diner’ with the side stars now the main attractions. This would be a relatively peaceful time for fazbear entertainment, but It would be kind of short, mostly due to fazbears' rep. at this point. I mean no it was fine, no murder or disappearances or anything ̶I̶'̶m̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶p̶a̶i̶d̶ ̶o̶f̶f̶ ̶b̶y̶ ̶F̶a̶z̶b̶e̶a̶r̶ ̶E̶n̶t̶e̶r̶t̶a̶i̶n̶m̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶o̶r̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶,̶ ̶n̶o̶ ̶n̶o̶ ̶i̶t̶s̶ ̶t̶r̶u̶e̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶t̶r̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶m̶e̶. The reason this location would close is because of the death of Charlie Emily…

Chapter 9, "A Quick Intermission" late 1984
Every murderer needs an accomplice, or at least that's what William believes. At this point in the timeline is when afton knew if he continued his “work” without help he would surely get caught, he needed someone that could help him and if worst comes to shove take the fall for him and he knew exactly who could be that accomplice. Henry Emily, William's long-time friend. With Charlie's death, William believed with what he had discovered. Henry would have to accept William's invitation ̶B̶l̶a̶c̶k̶m̶a̶i̶l̶. So William gave Henry a “job”, a job to go down to the underground facility (where the Funtimes are) and get some paperwork William had left behind down there, that said paperwork was all of William’s Remnant research. Even with Henry in his grief-stricken state, he still did what William had asked. He went down to the facility to get what William had asked for. Things would not go well for poor henry, he would find williams work and learn a bit too much and get fucking jumped by CB. He would survive the encounter with the work in toe, but he would not return the work to William. Due to this William would fear the worst and go into hiding.

Chapter 10, “New and Improved Freddy Fazbear's Pizza” early 1987
Fazbear Entertainment needed a fresh start, a new identity that was still recognisable but new, a new freddys establishment. This would be the location that would first adopt the iconic name ‘Freddy Fazbear's Pizza’ and would be the first location owned under the company Fazbear Entertainment. This establishment would be managed by Scott Adam (Phone Guy), and the establishment would have new and improved animatronics commissioned to and built by Henry Emily. This was the fresh start Fazbear entertainment needed, and this location is bound to stay due to it priding itself on high security in not only staff but in the animatronics as well. Now all we need is staff.

Chapter 11, “Job available” early 1987
Every establishment needs employees to function longer than a day. This chapter is short and just about Scott hiring employees, and especially one rather familiar sketchy fella.

Chapter 12, “They even let them walk around during the day” early 1987
Freddys was a huge success. Kids came from all around to see a place as wonderful and safe as this. The parents loved it, the kids loved it, everything was going perfectly. Until some complaints rolled in by the night security guard, at night the animatronics had a strange tendency to move around at night and especially to the office. So he was switched to the day shift, and another employee would take his place, a man by the name of Jeremy Fritzgerald.

Chapter 13, “FNAF 2” late 1987
A very long chapter, encompassing events happening during the nights of fnaf 2 and the stuff during the day that our player character doesn’t get to see. I can't explain everything so I'll simplify what it is you can expect in this chapter. All the events in the FNAF 2 game, the save them minigame from a unique perspective, 5 additional dead kids, Aftons crimes finally begin to catch up to him, THE BITE OF ‘87!?!?!, and the permanent closing of Freddy Fazbears Pizza (FNAF 2).

Chapter 14, “An overdue apology" 1988
We now head back to the Afton house, now only having the eldest son, Michael Afton, remaining. He had been doing his best and been trying to get by while living in his childhood home. Over time, he had started to have these frequent nightmares, all involving these nightmarish versions of familiar animatronic faces. It seems that these are just nightmares until certain ones start popping up in real life, and over time, Michael realizes that these nightmares are being conjured up by his deceased brother Joseph, who is out for revenge. Over the course of five nights, Michael deals with these new nightmare animatronics while trying to reach out to Joseph and make proper amends, and It works…kinda.

Chapter 15, “Another contender in children's entertainment” mid 1990
After many years of silence Afton Robotics has finally brought back their animatronics into the limelight with the new establishment “Circus Baby’s Entertainment and Rental”, with the unfortunate closing of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza this felt like the perfect time to bring new and old faces back into the childrens entertainment industry. This entire establishment brought a new light to animatronic entertainment, with the animatronics being rented out for private parties instead of just sitting on a stage and being open to anyone, this renting out decision made birthdays more special to the children, and put more money in the companies pocket. Things were going well until a new employee showed up.

Chapter 16, “FNAF SL” mid-1990s
‘WELCOME EGGS BENEDICT’
Michael had received a letter from his father about this new location opening called “Circus Baby’s entertainment & rental”. The letter told Michael to go and work at the facility as a night shift technician, and “free his sister” as afton put it. Now Mike really missed his sister (his whole family in general, well minus afton but you know) and out of loneliness, desperation, and some delusional hope that his sister may still be alive he did what his father asked. Now we're into the events of SL’s game, and most of it stays the same with the only change being some game events happening differently. This whole chapter ends with the whole scooping and “death” of Eggs Benedict.

Chapter 17, “You won’t die” mid-1990's
This chapter encompasses the experiences of Ennard through the week that they lived in Michaels' skin. we watch as their unity deteriorates as well as michaels body rotting away to a purple husk. It's an eerie chapter.

Afton is finally caught and tried for his crimes. We now wait on sentencing.

Due to the recent arrest of William Afton, Fazbear Entertainment (for whatever reason) decided to try again with a freddy’s location. This one would once again go by the name ‘Freddy Fazbear's Pizza’, smaller in size and with the older models now fixed and ready to perform for kids again.

Chapter 20, “Hello, Hello Hello?” late 1993
Freddys is open and ready for business now. All we need is a security guard. Luckily, we have our loyal employee Scott Adam ready to take on that responsibility. Chapter 20 is all about our dear phone guys last night shift, while he records messages for next week's night guard (he doesn't want to work for Freddy’s anymore, but he wanna get that check).
I think we all know how this is going so let's just skip to the end… He dies.

Mike is back, and he is a corpse. Our new Security Guard is our dear boy Michael Afto- oh shit I mean Mike Schmidt is here. The rest of this chapter is just FNAF 1 affairs, with the closure of this establishment happening shortly after Michaels firing. This would lead to a long period of radio silence from Fazbear Entertainment. Due to this, many believed they were no longer an existing company.

It’s been 30 years since William went SNAP!, CRACKLE!, POP! And 30 years since Fazbear Entertainment vanished. Some fresh out of college dudes wanted to make a horror attraction dedicated to the horror stories of the Fazbear entertainment brand. They are not architects, nor are they professionals, so they just picked an old abandoned building and got to work. They fixed it up as best they could and then began a hunt for memorabilia from Freddy’s and neighboring establishments. They would end up getting contacted by someone who knows “things” about freddy’s, his name was Mike and he would end up helping the boy’s out with their whole Spooky house of freddy’s ideas.

‘YOU’LL BE STARING AS… A SECURITY GUARD!’
Fazbear's Frights is almost ready to open, all they need to do is find a functioning animatronic and luckily they have a lead from an ‘anonymous’ source (*Loudly Whispers* It’s Henry), since they’ll be gone they’ll need a security guard to watch over the place. Mike volunteered to be their security, having experience in the field in all. FNAF 3 now begins. This chapter goes through all of FNAF 3, including the fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Mike escapes because he’s just that OP.

Chapter 26, “Now Hiring at Freddy’s” late 2024
Fazbear Entertainment has opened up the opportunity for anyone looking to become a franchise owner and a manager of the person's very own Freddy Fazbears Pizza, (and make them money), so they sent out the news in the paper and with that action broke their radio silence. Mike and Henry saw this ad and took it as the perfect opportunity in executing their final stages of their plan, Mike signed up for the job application and got to work. Fazbear entertainment gave mike free rain over his establishment (they didn’t care what it is he did with it as long as it was for kids and made Fazbear entertainment money) so Henry and mike got to work on building there pizzeria and animatronic labyrinth trap.

This chapter is a big boy with a lot to unpack, and due to Fnaf 6’s significance and importance to Fnaf’s Afton era as a whole this chapter is cut up into multiple smaller chapters, just to make everything more breathable and cohesive. These chapters are simplified down, but just know there is far more that goes on here that I just can't say.

Monday…
A small establishment with little to it except some tables, plates, balloons, a ball pit, a duck pond, a sanitation station, and just Happy Frog on stage. We start the day, and it goes off smoothly, and now we go on to see what’s outside. Scrap Baby is the first one found outside, and the first one salvaged. 5 days left.
Chapter 27: Part B, “Thanks for letting me join the party, I’ll try not to disappoint” late 2024
Tuesday…
A larger establishment with far more for children to do, with arcade games and even a candy cadet (he’s kinda weird but he racks in money) and a bigger stage with more animatronics performing on it. The shift goes off smooth enough with slight disturbances but no danger present (thankfully). Let’s see what's outside today. Molten Freddy is the second one found outside and salvaged unsuccessfully… 4 day’s left.
Chapter 27: Part C, “Fascinating… what they have become” late 2024
Wednesday…
At this point, the establishment has grown exponentially since Monday, with attractions left and right, dual stages, and many entertaining animatronics for visitors to enjoy. With that, we head on into the shift. Oh shit we're actually in danger now. While it seems only Molten freddy is out for Mike, Scrap Baby is circling the facility but not attacking… yet. Luckily, Mike gets out of there quickly and efficiently and can head on into salvaging. Scrap Trap is the third one salvaged and salvaged successfully. It was quite an unpleasant surprise to see Afton, though.
Chapter 27: Part D, “I could hear you... breathing” late 2024
Thursday…
Mike tries his best to buy any and all animatronics that have or may have any connections to Freddy’s and its tragedies. Safety and security become a bigger focus to Mike with the pizzeria. He wants people to remember his establishment fondly even though it would burn soon. His shift is hell, with Afton now present all the animatronics are aggressive towards Afton. So not only does he have to do his task to finish his shift, he now has to avoid, deture, and control violent killing machines as well. He finishes his work and swiftly leaves onto salvaging whoever is outside if there is anyone that is. Scrap Ballora is the next animatronic found and salvaged. It's an unsuccessful salvage, but she's in the establishment now so… Task Failed Successfully?
Chapter 27: Part E “IT’S ME” late 2024
Friday…
Mike doesn't do much in his establishment at this point. He's just counting down to Saturday. He did buy a Black Bear named Lefty, I mean, 5 bucks is 5 bucks, after all. Anyway, onto the shift.
AAAAAAAAA-
Now onto the salvage.
Rusted Freddy (Golden Freddy) is the final animatronic salvaged, successfully salvaged may I add.
(Lefty is already in the building if you couldn't guess.)
Chapter 27: Part F “Fazbear Family” late 2024
Saturday…
We are just heading on into the shift, no Tycoon fun this time. Just the final shift Mike needs to complete. OMG, Mike's shift is hell on earth, all these violent animatronics scamping around the vents hunting him and Afton. As Mike finishes his work and is about to clock out, Afton makes it to Mike's office and attacks him. Afton has this egotistical speech, and then gets jumped by the Funtime animatronics. Henry does his little speech, the place is on fire, and everything is finally over. All the souls pass on to their happiest day, and Afton is finally dead.
Chapter 28 “An overdue greeting”
“DID YOU REALLY THINK WE WOULD NEVER MEET?…”
Time to meet your maker, Afton you son of a bit- uh anyway. This would be the point in the story where we would be introduced to Old Man Consequences, I know quite late especially since he is the Aus mascot but hey better late than never. He is this world's grim reaper and he is here to collect a run away soul. This chapter is just an intermission into UCN, but also a good breather after fnaf 6.

Chapter 29 “Ultimate Custom Night”
This chapter is exactly as it sounds, Afton gets bullied by dead kids. This chapter is longer than it sounds.

Chapter 30 “leave the demon, to his demons. Rest your own soul, there is nothing else.”
We have finally reached the end of this era, and Cassidy and other souls finally found peace. Afton is dead and buried. Now all the poor souls connected to Freddy’s reside in a paradise where they can all live happily (the paradise world in question is fnaf world, look I love fnaf world I had to include it in my Au somehow.) It's such a sweet ending.

Of course we know this isn't the end of Freddy’s, but it is the end of Afton so we can at least sleep easy knowing that.
We will head into part 2 of this timeline with “Failure to learn from the past, dooms you to repeat it.” aka the Mimic era. Which is from HW 1 onto (IDK that depends on how long Steel wool keeps the mimic around.)

Lighting and Mike and Will and El - Full Analysis (pt.41)
Finally!!!! I’m getting to the final stretch of episode nine. I’ve sectioned it off into, the return to Hawkins, Max, Volunteering at Hawkins High, The Cabin Scene (Extended), Reunions, and The Beginning of the End. Most of those will need multiple parts. There’s a stupid amount of stuff packed into the last part of the season, specifically the last part of episode nine. But I’m going to do my best to try and put everything I’ve noticed into words- and a somewhat cohesive line of reasoning. Or at least find some meaning in it all. But now, after five and a half months, the cabin scene is within my reach. 
S4:E9 - The Return to Hawkins (#1)

Establishing shot after the time skip is of all the cars leaving Hawkins, in contrast to the van returning on the almost empty opposite side of the road. It’s pretty neat that there is that contrast present because of the theme of forced conformity that they’ve been really nailing down this season. They’re moving towards danger while the majority of Hawkins has decided to leave. The van is going against the grain. They no longer have any chance to conform. They’ve all been set a part from everyone else. There’s no going back now. 
A few other things that uphold this- that we started to see in the snow ball and the Vecna fight- is the continuation of the red and blue colour scheme. However, the difference here is that green is now being used in the background. And has emphasis placed on it- in terms of how often it shows up, and the saturation of it within specific shots. It’s meant to be there and it has a very good reason to. Again it’s directly going against conformity. It’s also cool that it’s utilizing nature to do so? Because of the queer theme’s within Stranger Things, using it this way is directly against the common argument that queer people are unnatural. But it’s also showing new growth in our character, and maybe foreshadowing and end that isn’t complete and utter destruction. 
It’s just very hopeful, admis the chaos. And probably alluding to queer themes. All good things.

The van is very distinctive, and they use that quality a lot for establishing shots. It looks very out of place wherever it goes- especially when they’re running after they find El. (I actually crack up watching the end of that scene with the dramatic shots of the van driving away and being shot at because it just looks very out of place. Even though I’m aware that this is a somewhat serious scene). It’s the same as it drives into Hawkins. This shot is juxtaposing the van in the way that it’s the only vehicle going into Hawkins despite the many leaving, and it sticks out. 
They’re past the point of conforming. There’s no going back now. Not with character arcs or the plot. That last fight tipped everyone over the edge.

Jonathan is the first person we see reacting the the flood of people leaving Hawkins. Argyle’s behind him, out of focus, but we can still see his facial expression and how he’s viewing this situation. Argyle looks confused- and a bit contemplative but Jonathan looks concerned. the important thing about how this shot is set up is that as we go forwards into this scene, we see a lot more shots like this one. The focus on one person, and another person blurred behind them. 
It’s almost like Argyle’s either in Jonathan’s perspective, or is perceiving Jonathan’s reaction as well as the situation. 
The colours also start to come into play here- specifically in costume design. Jonathan’s been wearing a blue and red shirt for the majority of his time on screen, but now we’re really focusing in on it. Because now we need to see why Jonathan is wearing red and blue.

Then we see a similar shot of Mike and El. Mike’s our main focus, and El’s blurred into the background. The green behind them isn’t very vibrant and together they’re wearing blue and red. (Left eyes also in shadow- some connection to the supernatural elements of Stranger Things either directly tied to the elements within the show or foreshadowing).

The last person we focus on in the van as they drive into Hawkins is Will. He’s the only one without someone else behind him, and the only character that’s background is green. Will’s face doesn’t appear to have the same shadows that El and Mike do (and Argyle), and isn’t wearing blue and red. He’s wearing blue and yellow, as he has been for most of this season, and is visually set apart from what we’re about to see.

As we zoom out from the inside of the van, the only objects that we can see within it are blue and yellow. The saturation of the grass and trees outside is also notably lesser than what was behind Will.

We move up from the road, and the cars leaving, to see the scale of the destruction. And the helicopters covering it. The cars on the road are very detailed. Ones a police car, and ones green with (racing stripes?), and a few others that are blue, and one or two red ones as well. It’s interesting that the these specific colours are chosen for the cars leaving Hawkins, because of their meanings that have already been established within the show.

Blue car, green suitcases, red bricks: once again we are met with these specific colours. The people in this shot are wearing blue and/or red. At a different angle we can see the colours of one persons sweater: blue, red and white.

Will, the one with the green background and blue and yellow clothes, is the first person we see watching these people leave. El is in shot with him and her left eye is dark again. (I don’t think this is possessiongate, I think it’s something else). He’s watching everyone leave as he returns.

We see these people packing up as well, and they’re wearing blue and pink.

We see Mike and El’s reactions to everyone leaving, now. Blue and red. Mike, however, is the center of our shot. He’s our main focus. Him and El still both have shaded left eyes, but their reactions to what happened here isn’t equal. Mike’s reaction is being emphasized more than El’s.

At the high school we see more people dressed in blue and red. The truck and the car in the last picture are red and blue as well (that car may be green, I can’t really tell- that makes it have an entirely different meaning though. So).

Will finally gets a shot with another character, and that charavter is Mike. Boy slides into frame as the focus pans from Will to Mike. And of course, Will is notably better lit than Mike is. The colours we see in the window behind them are red, blue and green. 
!!!!!!!!!!!!!Also, look at Will. And look at Mike blatantly looking at him. We’ve got a lesne focus shift thing going on and everything. And Will is glowing. He wasn’t lit like this in earlier shots either- because he’s only angelic like this when Mike’s looking at him. Almost missed this because I got distracted by everything else that’s going on in this episode. But, back to the main reason I started writing this- Mike Wheeler sees Will Byers like this. All the damn time. And season four really gets into how Will is Mike’s light. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The we come up on the library. Again, people are wearing red and blue. The yellow fire hydrant might be foreshadowing Will’s future involvement in fixing all of this. That eye on the van is referencing the theme of being watched that’s been consistent throughout Stranger Things. 
So, everyone’s wearing red and blue- forced conformity- after the monologue. And everything else that happened. Green is being used a lot in the background- like vibrant noticeable green. And Will’s one of the only one’s that’s not wearing red and blue. And he’s in the light again. 
Mike, Will, and El are the people who we see really take in the extent of the destruction. We’re really looking close at their reactions. Sure we see Jonathan, but we don’t see what he’s thinking beyond the catastrophe in front of them.

ok so I just saw this (@blobvis456) fanart of max with the caption "do you accept the risk?" which obviously is the quote lucas said to max when telling her about the up-side down.
and that threw my mind to this one analysis? or something that focused on how mike was against telling people about the supernatural shit, both as a way to keep the party safe, and also the person. I'll try to find it because I'm pretty sure I rb'd it and I'll link it when I do. EDIT : here (@darkquill98)
I am a sucker for time travel au's. specifically when the future is thrown into the past and reveals something not known (relationships -romantic or otherwise-, personal revelations etc) or when the past gets transported to the future and just see how they're future selfs are, whether it be in a fluffy way or angsty or something in between.
anyways. imagine this. it's the st season 2 finale after el closes the gates and everyone is back at the byer's house. they're planning the sleepover (the party not the older teens because it's awkward still). it's been a long night, and then suddenly there's a long bang or something and two people kinda just appear on the floor of the byers living room (where the party was planning on sleeping).
everyone's on edge, weapons are pointed and then they realize who it is.
mike and max considerably older (I see them as seniors but anytime post-s4 post-vecna defeat goes).
during this time, mike's gotten up to a sitting position on the floor, but max is still on her back.
a key point in this is that max is disabled.
so everyone (present) is surrounding m&m (it's much easier to type that max and mike every time) and they see as mike slowly helps max up and positions himself behind her so that she can lean against him.
this is odd for two reasons. a) max and mike are getting along? mike is helping her? which he'd obviously do either way (see skateboard scene) but still, it's the care and love he does it with. b) why does max need help? why didnt she get up her self?
before they can verbalise this one of the walkie talkies starts spewing static and first, which slowly clears into lucas's voice. future lucas.
there's talking about are they ok? do you know what happened? and so on so forth. it's not really planned out in my head but there are a few things revealed. 1) a reference is made to both el and will working together in order to create a signal between the present and future radios, 2) lucas asks how max is and she replies that it's a bad day and quips the whatever sent them here is abelist because it didn't even bother to send her wheelchair with her.
(max absolutely plays the abelism card wherever she can fight me on this. she also makes so many dark jokes related to it. i think lucas would kinda hate it but it makes her smile so it's fine with him. el also kinda hates it but she finds it funny as well so she conflicted.)
also the way I imagine things, most days max is in her wheelchair with limited mobility, on good days, she's able to walk with her crutches but on bad days (like the one she's having) she can barely move without pain and needs help a lot. (which the party+extended are always happy to give her)
so after the whole conversation, obviously the present have some questions, m&m just reveal that max is paralyzed due to some event with the up-side down but not how (because they're not sure how much they can reveal)
anyway onto why i wanted this. the angst. i want present max to cope with the fat fact that she can't walk, i want mike's guilt at not being able to keep her away, I want lucas's horror because he was the one that brought her into this. maybe will and el feel guilty because it was caused by the upside down. maybe the older members (teens +jopper) feel guilty because they're older they should have been able to protect her.
while i'd like the main focus to be how max has adapted to her disability (speaking of which, does anyone have any fics recs like that?) I also want little snippet into the future to show that despite things becoming worse for a while it's also gotten so much better. i see elumax and byler. or if elumax isnt your thing then elmax or lumax maybe with henderhop aswell. idk, it's kinda flexible ig (excepts for byler even though it's not a main-main focus i still want a reveal because mike to mike chat about their sexuality and relationship with will and el and will learning that theres hope (especially considering it's following the shed scene) and theres just a lot i think can be explored there)
it it was elumax, which is what i thought of, then it's lucas and max finding out they get together and finally act on their feelings, its lucas feeling odd because he's also dating el and he though that el and mike had their thing going on. its el's not sexuality crisis i would say but realising not everything is like in the movies. its el and max realising that they worked through their problems and became friends and then more.
for the older teens idk what but im either leaning towards established jancy whose worked through their issue with steve who is learning he's come to term with it and learning about robin (he definitely make more of an effort to befriend her while working at scoops ahoy) or stonathon. which might require alteration to the canon s2 or maybe not and they figure out how that complicated mess of relationships worked out (which i think would be hilarious cause at this point in time stancy have just had their nasty break-up and jancy are in that weird phase that's like we fucked and we lie each other a lot but haven't defined what we are yet only to find out apparently steve and jonathan are dating?? what?)
for jopper, if they find out they're established and married, I think there's a whole lot to work through, cause while joyce may have had some feelings for hop, that was far overshadowed by her love for bob who she is now grieving because he's dead because she dragged him into this supernatural bullshit and yeah she has a lot of shit to work through. not to mention I think hopper will also need time to come to terms especially since the last time he was married didnt go well.
this has drastically spiralled but whatever.
as a bonus to the previous, give me the byer-hopper clan realising they're becoming a family. jonathan had a new father figure and he doesn't know how to feel about that. hop suddenly has 2 sons. joyce has a daughter now jonathan and will have a sister now el has two brother now. apparently will and el who literally only just met are as close as twins in the future.
can you tell that i really love time travel au's. there's just so much potential.
this has spiraled way out of control so if the beginning and the end seem disjointed, its because I expected this to go in a very different direction.

Okay im gonna keep posting ab the madwheeler role swap au lol. Because when it comes to dynamics and changes I have a lot to say.
First posts here and here. The first link kind of lays out the premise, and the second is about how meeting Max instead of Mike might shift dynamics for El.
Mike’s importance as a leader gets overlooked way too often, and there are so many lovely posts on this site about how fundamental he is to the party as a whole. He makes leaps, connects ideas, is practical and focused. All the party members are so important (how many times over would the entire party be dead w/out Lucas?????) but Mike is the leader, and he’s really good at putting together the pieces.
Mike was the one who encouraged everyone to go looking for Will, the night that they found El. Mike was the one who believed Will was alive, after they saw his body being pulled from the water. Mike is the one who made connection after connection, he and Dustin bouncing off of each other, and Mike’s conviction got the party moving (and… caused conflict & split them apart a bit).
There are a lot of specific examples, and i need to go through them more thoroughly, but without Mike, season 1’s party is a lot more disorganized in their efforts to help Will. We’re not just taking Mike off the board for a bit, though—we’re putting Max in his place. But Max, while confident, doesn’t LEAD the same way Mike does, and has more hesitation/uncertainty when it comes to matters of the upsidedown (i’ll probably grab the specific examples i’m thinking of eventually lol, this is kinda a brain dump). Max, like Mike, has a lot of faith in El. Max has more confidence in El than Mike does, and will likely have less arguments with Lucas in this alternate season 1… but without Mike’s conviction, the “party” won’t have the same momentum and focus in their efforts to find Will.
Also… without Mike as a founding member of the Party… dynamics within the group will be different. Growing up together and shared experiences shape people. While all the party follows their “rules” (Lucas, for example, is a big advocate of them), without Mike, these rules very likely wouldn’t have been written (I believe that Mike was the originator of the rules). Shared interests will still be comics, walkies, biking/skating together, video games at the arcade… but max isn’t as into dnd in canon (though this may be shaped by mike excluding her a bit, but we see in season 3 from the rain fight that they haven’t really played), and I think this would lead the party as a whole to be less invested in it (until they get to high school & meet eddie, at least). They’ll still love Lord of the Rings, but they may not call themselves “the party”. Things like that.
Idk i like thinking about how these shifts would affect realistically change the dynamics, and honestly, it’s so interesting to me.

doing a twist on my taylor swift album series and doing the record by boygenius as stranger things characters and ships 🫡
without you without them: jopper. while their past isnt a pretty one, they were able to reconnect and have a functional relationship due to those moments and the fact that these people shaped them into who they are
$20: ronance. they both tend to self destruct; nancy with picking fights and pushing people away and robin with her lack of confidence and selling herself short. i can totally see them just wanting to get out of hawkins and going wherever. i also love the comparison of the flower in the shotgun with them
emily i’m sorry: hopper to el, trying to piece their life back together after everything. “she called me a fucking liar” parallel with “friends don’t lie” “i can feel myself becoming someone only you could want” “i’ll get a real job, you can go back to school”
true blue: steddie. specifically steve about eddie. “you say you’re a winter bitch but summers in your blood” is so eddie the second verse being about eddie and the band moving to chicago to try and make it big. verse 3 is after steve moves up there and they get a place together. “you’ve never done me wrong except for that one time” *cough cough demobats* the chorus is really true to me. “i can’t hide from you like i hide from myself” and eddie being the first person we see acknowledge how much steve has changed, something that steve seems hard to believe
cool about it: the party with max between season 3 and 4. specifically, lucas first, then dustin, then mike. lucas trying to distract her to keep her mind off things, wishing max would either just talk to him but pretending that he’s okay with not talking to her. dustin trying to solve the problem, even though he can’t. he’s worried about her and doesn’t know what to do for once. mike struggling himself but knowing she wants distance from the party so he’s “pretending like he can’t read her mind,” not pushing her to talk.
not strong enough: el, mike, and will. “every clocks a different time. it would only take the energy to fix it” el doesn’t know why she’s so powerful. she doesn’t feel strong enough to win. she’s lost so much and while she’ll keep fighting, she felt so weak for so long. “do you see us getting scraped up off the pavement” mike feels like he’s destined to crumble, not knowing what he did to deserve it. “there’s something in the static, i think i’ve been having revelations” is VERY will. his “i don’t know why i am the way i am” being in reference to him being gay. the three of them always being the angels, never the gods
revolution 0: nancy. “imaginary friend” being reminiscing on her friendship with barb. i hc she knows piano and love the idea that barb taught her. “if this isn’t love then what the fuck is it” being about either steve/jonathan and trying to convince herself, or even barb/robin.
leonard cohen: steddie! eddie making steve listen to a song and ends up in the wrong direction. “i never thought you’d happen to me” about both. steve feeling so loved in a relationship, eddie being so comfortable in one.
satanist: eddie, robin, and steve. eddie is the satanist. “trying to score some off brand ecstasy” fits super well too. robin is the anarchist (i miss alternative robin from season 3) her lack of confidence pairs with “at least until you find out what a fake i am” steve being the nihilist. “if nothing can be known, than stupidity is holy” and the fact steve feels like an idiot
we’re in love: jopper. “will you still love me if it turns out i’m insane?” joyce was known as a bit of the town loon. i’d imagine she worries a lot about these rumors. “some october in the future…i’ll be feeling lonely” everything started in october; that fall hopper was gone was most likely very very hard for joyce. then a switch to hopper cause “if you rewrite your life, can i still play a part in it?” about understanding joyce needs a change to get away from all the trauma but wanting to be with her still. “i’ll be the boy…who looks like hell and asks for help. and if you do, i’ll know it’s you” hop knows joyce will always help him; she proved it with helping him in russia. “there’s something about you that i will always recognize”
anti-curse: eddie. “i never listened, had to see for myself” “making peace with my inevitable death” “tried to be a halfway decent friend, would up a bad comedian” “an honest fool with more bad habits than you can count” it’s very eddie coded
letter to an old poet: el with one/vecna. i think she really did used to love him. i think she still remembers the person who tried to help make her feel less alone. “you’re not special, you’re evil” “you made me feel like an equal, but i’m better than you and you should know that by now” “i wanna be happy”

Can we just talk about Lucas Sinclair for a minute because I feel like he gets missed a lot and he’s one of my favorite characters. LIKE:
- he’s logical about so much stuff, and he’s almost always the voice of reason. He misses things sometimes and he’s stubborn but he’s just sensible and kind hearted.
- he gave us the iconic line “friends don’t lie”
- the way he treats max, even when they aren’t together. Like he loves her so much and it’s clear how much he respects her.
- did not give a single fuck about Billy’s actions towards him, and put himself at risk to keep max safe from the upside down.
- fought the mind flayer without a second thought and constantly does whatever he can to protect his friends
-he was reserved abt el at first but once she made it clear she was on their side he made sure that she was safe with him. Lets not forget he saved her from the mindflayer several times but specifically in the cabin when it had her by the leg.
- stayed with max’s body for what was probably hours when she was attacked by Vecna, both times, and in the hospital. Wouldn’t let anyone near her to the point he was held at gunpoint and had his shit rocked.
- this poor kid has dealt with so much betrayal and I hope with all my heart that max comes back and they can see that movie. I hope Lucas keeps playing basket ball and I wish his friends had been there to see him shoot his shot. I hope he keeps playing D&D and never gets bullied again. He deserves the world.
- I know he was conflicted with the whole Eddie situation but this man did everything in his power to keep the peace and protect everyone he viewed as friends. Being black in small town America is not easy but Lucas keeps his heart out there and does his best to be himself and I’m really fucking proud of him for that.
- Lucas is fucking hilarious. He and Dustin always have the best one liners without meaning to and it kills me.
- Lucas is an ESTJ so he’s the stable one in the group, always keeping people grounded and making sure their needs are met.
- he’s fashionable, also lets not forget that he dressed like the karate kid because Max had a crush on Ralph from the movie.
- he’s SMART AS HELL, evidence is mr Clarke and the fact that he’s the ranger of the group. His observation skills have saved el from the government as well as Dustin.
- he’s good with weapons and he learned it from his dad who also fought in Vietnam (like hopper). He’s a good fighter, I mean he fought off billy, Jason and several bullies.
- he’s a mammas boy.
- he cares about his sister, even though they fight.
- like I don’t think we talk about his ability to wield an axe enough
All around, Lucas is a fantastic character and an excellent boyfriend and these are a few of the reasons I love him so much. It’s a bonus that Erica is his sister because she’s also such a fucking badass. Lets give the Sinclairs some more credit thanks!!!

penny for your thoughts on stranger things season 4 (specifically volume 2)?
alright i wrote out an entire essay last night and tumblr deleted it, so i’m going to try this again and hope it actually works 😭
spoilers and rambling under the cut!
so for the most part i really enjoyed volume two. i loved the cinematography, particularly the part when nancy was shooting vecna and hop was fighting the demogorgon while the remix of running up that hill played. i also loved how it showed the three groups managing to come together, even as spread out as they all were. like! theres my bad ass crew of characters that i love so much, finding ways to win even from three different places!!! and of course we FINALLY got the jopper kiss…. i have been thinking about ‘use your imagination’ ‘who needs imagination?’ for two days straight. no one is doing it like them. just so many little interactions and moments that i loved— el and hopper reunion, lucas and max talking on their pads, lucas holding maxs body 😭, dustin and eddie’s relationship, eddie’s guitar solo, all the robin and steve bestie moments, the way the threads of the story all came together, the little jokes and beats of humor, el piggybacking and saving max… there was a lot i liked.
however. the things that i didn’t like were kind of big sticking points to me, and made it so that i didn’t enjoy it as much as i’d hoped to.
first of all, the episodes were simply too long. like for a complicated storyline, with so many moving parts, the episodes were just…. really dense. during episode nine i kept going ‘is it done yet? is it done yet? is it done yet?’ because i got overstimulated and tired. and i suppose i could have just paused it, but i find stopping in the middle of an episode very difficult. id have rather them be shorter episodes that i could pause at the end of and come back to when i was ready. and that’s kind of sad because like. i KNOW i missed things, but it’s such a big task to go back and rewatch it all that idk if i will anytime soon.
second of all…. eddie. stranger things has such a problem with introducing side characters just to kill then off, and eddie is just another in a long line (robin, murray, and erica being the main exceptions). which is interesting to me, because everyone was talking about how there was going to be this huge emotional character death this season, and like… i sobbed like a baby when he died, because i loved him, but it was almost expected. it would have been much more shocking and devastating if it was nancy or steve (who i thought was going to die). the fact that they did kill of eddie was also just so painful because 1) he was so loveable and i would have loved to see him grow and become part of the group, looking after the kids with nancy and steve and robin and jonathan, and also getting to have that sense of family when he’d only ever had his dad before. 2) the dialogue with dustin…. god that was heart wrenching. that was the one part of his death that i liked. i was sobbing i was shaking i was a fucking mess over it. 3) i can’t help but see eddie as a gay man— his entire story with being a freak, an outsider, unwelcome, and unknown by anyone but hated by everyone was very reminiscent of the gay experience to me. and so the fact that he died…. it was like okay yeah of course the queer coded side character died. of course he did.
and finally… will. i don’t even know where to start. they did him so dirty. this main character, around whom the entire over arching plot of the show has revolved, was treated like a side character. will, who has a connection to the upside down unlike anyone else, barely had any screen time that wasn’t him just setting up mike and el. literally without him there wouldn’t BE stranger things, and yet they just. tossed him aside. the only times he was around was when his own pain and suffering and feelings were used to deepen mike and el’s relationship— which had already had three prior seasons to develop!!! it just felt awful to have this character— who is clearly gay, clearly in love with his best friend, clearly already feeling like an outsider— tossed aside and disregarded. like not a single person except jonathan seemed to notice or care about him the entire season, and it’s like…. it’s just frustrating. like i wish they weren’t using his pain and love and feelings to elevate the heterosexual ship. idk.
so overall, it was good, but those are really big things that i didn’t like and so i don’t feel like i enjoyed it as much as i wanted to.

Thoughts on the first three episodes of Stranger Things 4 (without any specific spoilers):
1. Holy shit the horror movie aspect went WAY up. Like the previous seasons obviously had some jump scares and the classic “scary” scenes but not like this. I would describe the series like this: Seasons 1-3: Thrillers with a few horror elements Season 4 part 1: Horror with some unsettling elements.
2. I LOVE the exploration of Max. Her background, her life outside of the main plot activities. I also like that they are allowing her to grieve, to struggle, to not be okay, to have some personality changes as her mental health changes. And we get to see how this plays out with her relationships with the others, which is great.
3. I also really like how they split the Hawkins squad up. I obviously love seeing all of them working together and solving shit, but the introduction of generic high school stuff as reasons for some friction and division? Way more realistic and relatable than just little arguments over dating (looking at you season 3- not Will so much as the other three).
Its clear that at their core, each of the HS (hawkins squad) are still bonded, through trauma as well as just generally caring about each other, but it also makes it obvious that as they grow up, these kids evolve and become interested in different stuff. And even though sometimes it interferes with their time together, thats okay as long as these diverging interests don’t change who they really are, or who they are to each other.
4. Not gonna lie, at first I was very concerned with the direction they were going with El. This episode (403) ended with her being kinda redirected back to “good” by bringing back that uh… familiar face. So I’m not as worried as I was but I really did start the season thinking they were going to do a complete 180 with her character arc so hopefully that doesn’t happen.
5. The big bad doesn’t feel so repetitive, in part bc of those horror elements but also bc of the distance between the characters and the various storylines happening simultaneously. Not having El start off in Hawkins kinda brings it back to Season 2 vibes, when she didn’t come into play (with the main villain I mean) until the second to last episode. This season is obviously a different situation but still- it adds some variation and a change of pace, which is more engaging in my opinion.
6. Joyce and Murray are exceptional together. Their chemistry and comedic timing is superb and provides some much needed levity from the aforementioned horror parts. I did find their storyline a little bit frustrating at times, just because Joyce’s actions didn’t really seem to mesh with the overprotective manic Joyce from most of the show, but I think the circumstances allow for the dissolution of disbelief on that one.
7. On other pairs: love seeing the continuation of the Steve and Robin friendship, and their increased comfort and familiarity with each other is so very apparent to anyone watching. The tension between some of the West Coast Crew (WCC) is also particularly telling, and I’m hoping they follow up on one of those storylines in particular. Not super interested in whatever Jonathan’s got going on though- his friend is funny but like mostly irrelevant and derailing to the plot as far as I’m concerned.
8. This is honestly my main takeaway from the season so far: whatever every other actor did to piss off the hairstylists, Joe and Sadie didn’t do it. Maya either but I think thats mostly because itd be hard to mess hers up too badly. Steve’s hair looks great as always but it looks even better when compared to…. Literally everyone else’s hairstyles. And Max just keeping the long hair is both great for her features, not an eyesore, and also very in keeping with her character.

My two sisters and I watch Stranger Things together and unfortunately they both have work today. We squeezed in the S4E8 before their shift, but will have to wait to watch the finale till 11 PM tonight. In the meantime, I will be ranking how likely I think a character is going to die out of 10. There was a tweet a while back from the Duffer Brothers about this season having consequences and this two major character deaths. (I don’t have the exact wording and I sure as hell am not going on twitter to check). But point was we know someone’s going to die so in this torturous wait, I’m guessing whom. Please no spoilers in the replies or reblogs.
The Kiddos
El: 8 She’s always going to be at the thick of things. She’s seen as the only hope since she forced Henry into the Upside Down the first time. Pretty sure she’s going to just go into a coma but death is a possibility.
Mike Wheeler: 7 The love confession from Will was very emotional. Lots of feelings all around if “the heart of the group” dies. Also Nancy’s vision which was meant to frighten her specifically included her mom and Mike’s deaths. I don’t like him so probably higher rating than it strictly needs to be, but still solid odds.
Will Byers: 5 I think possession by Vecna is far more likely than death and that he would be a more symbolic death in the final season. (Unclear if Season 5 is the last one but point is the show starts with his disappearance and should end with his death.)
Dustin Henderson: 9.5 I am pretty certain Dustin is either going to die or almost die and be saved last minute by Erica based on the Hellfire D&D game. Also the moment when Eddie told him to always stay like this made my brain go he can stay like that if he’s dead. Plus he’s the guy who puts things together for them; imagine the consequences of not having that next season. Points in favor of his survival: he’s such a fan favorite I feel like I already would have been spoiled if it happened, he was the first kid cast and really helps with the unity of the group.
Lucas Sinclair: 8 This ranking largely inspired by my middle sister who feels pretty certain Lucas is going to die. And I sort of see where she’s coming from since he’s less a centerpiece of the group and his relationship with Max/all the emotional conversations he’s been a part of because of that make him a good candidate for the sacrifice play. (Plus I’ve gotten 2 spoilers from Twitter accidentally one of them being Max and Lucas trended. But I’m just really counting on that being from shipping moments because they’ve been so gosh darn cute this season.) I also firmly believe next season will play up the satanic ritual/witch hunt side of things now that the ideas in the town’s head at large. His place as someone who tried to play the middle ground with Jason and the rest of the basketball team makes that plotline especially interesting.
Max Mayfield: 8 Easily the most foreseeable death. She’s acting as bait in a situation likely to kill her. But I don’t think they’ll do it. It feels a little too obvious and I want May to grow and be forced to recon with Billy’s death and the overall trauma she’s been through.
Erica Sinclair: 2 Is my love for her clouding my ranking? Undoubtedly yes. However I stand by my theory that would happens in their D&D games is a reflection of real life. Erica threw the saving throw that defeated Vecna. She isn’t dying. Plus as much as I love her not sure if she would still qualify as a “major” character with this large of an ensemble.
The Scooby Doo Gang
Steve Harrington: 1 I think I read somewhere the writers love him too much to kill him. I could have dreamed it but I don’t care, my boy lives.
Nancy Wheeler: 7 I feel like it’s telling Vecna showed her his backstory. But there hasn’t been anything specific that makes me go that’s foreshadowing she isn’t going to make it.
Robin Buckley: 6 Her line about having a bad feeling about this is pretty much solely responsible for her bump in this rating. We also really haven’t seen her in fighting circumstances the way we’ve seen some of the others. Definitely think either she or Will can die but the other is relatively safe due to writers being conscious of the Bury your Gays trope and Will’s death packs the larger punch.
Jonathon Byers: 4 I can’t really justify this one. He’s driving to the action, pursued by the military so he’s not safe but in comparison he certainly feels like it. Also besides getting his life together to go to a different college than Nancy, no real foreshadowing or emotional conversations that would make me consider the authors were trying to build up his death as this extreme moment of sadness.
Eddie Munson: 8 He’s new so it feels like this is a toss up. His declaration that he’s going to be brave makes me think he’ll be in the thick of the action. He’s had emotional moments with Dustin that could be foreshadowing. Kinda think he’s going to be murdered by Jason and his crew though instead of Vecna. (He has lots of bad memories that could be used against him though.) Still waiting for him to sing while trying to safe someone from Vecna because of the mention of his MS band to Chrissy.
Argyle: 2 This man is the comedy, the automatic mood lightener. Yes his death would show that things had gotten serious but we already know they’re serious. On the flip side, minor enough that he could be killed with impunity.
The Russian Crew:
Joyce Byers: 3 She’s not in any real danger right now (besides you know potentially crashing in a helicopter.) Plus Winona Ryder has enough star power she could stick around for that reason alone.
Hopper: 2 If they really wanted to, he would have just died last season.
Murray: 2 Another gut feeling one. His death doesn’t really further the plot in any way. Already done impossible things this season that make it seem odd for him to die now.
Dimitri/Enzo/Traitor Guard guy: 9 From the moment he mentioned wanting to see his son again to Hopper I knew he was going to die. It felt like foreshadowing. Don’t know how but am convinced it’s happening.
Yuri: 4 This man is crazy and should not be given control of a helicopter and yet pretty sure he’s going to live.
Others:
Vecna/1/Henry: 7 If he dies he’s not really dead. We need him for next season.
Mrs. Wheeler: 8 Another one where I’m unable to articulate beyond this character doesn’t really serve a purpose and they had a major enough foreshadowing/threat that I think it’s valid.
Officer Powell: 7 He’s a man in deep over his head.
Jason: 10 Accidental Spoiler on my sister’s part. Apparently his death is brutal
