i’m so glad you’re gonna start taking requests for neytiri!! (btw i was the anon who asked if you write for her😭) me being a lesbian in this fandom is so tiring when all i see is fics for the boys lolll, but anyways can i ask for a neytiri x fem!reader who is also omaticaya and is known as being one of the nicest girls in the clan! like everyone just adores her bc she’s so sweet and kind to everyone and she’s also under healing training with mo’at! but she’s also really shy especially around neytiri (because she likes her) but neytiri thinks that reader is shy because she doesn’t like her :( so one day reader is out collecting fruit or something and a group of boys start picking on her (kinda like the scene in atwow where ao’nung picks on kiri) but they don’t realise that neytiri is watching them from afar and she storms over all pissed and tells the boys to leave the reader alone and since she’s the daughter of the tsahik they’re scared of her and stuff so they listen. and the reader is just very quiet as she thanks neytiri which makes neytiri kinda confused and she’s like “have i done something to make you not like me?” but the reader is like “no! i like you! i really like you!” and it ends with both of them confessing their feelings for each other? i’m sorry this is so long i suck at explaining things 😭🫶🏻

neytiri was out hunting one day after another argument with mo’at.

she wasn’t happy that neytiri wasn’t complying to her and agreeing to take the tsahik training.

she had already taken y/n under her wing but would prefer to have her daughter take over once she inevitably won’t be able to anymore.

neytiri stomped through the forest and kept hitting branches out of her way.

eywa was fed up with her attitude and she let one of her branches slap neytiri right in the face.

neytiri sighed and gently moved the branch out of her face to keep walking.

she climbed up one of the giant trees when she spotted something swinging from branch to branch.

she sat on a branch and hid herself behind the leaves to cover herself. she spotted whatever was making the noise.

it was y/n. she was hanging upside down with her legs hooked over a branch on a separate tree.

she was examining a flower, taking apart its many petals.

neytiri sighs out and reveals herself to go up to her.

neytiri had always admired her. the one thing she knew they had in common was their shyness.

but y/n’s shyness causes her to only have a handful of friends. not even a handful, maybe four at best.

but she always had a certain fondness for her. she was kind and so one with nature.

neytiri didn’t realize that what she was feeling wasn’t anything close to casual or platonic.

“y/n!” mo’at called out in na’vi.

y/n swung over the branch to sit upright. she looked to the floor and saw mo’at standing with her hands on her hips. y/n hopped up on her feet, ready to jump down,

“do you have the flower i asked you for?” mo’at asked as she climbed down the tree.

“yes. is this enough petals?” she asked. mo’at looks at the petals in y/n’s palms and huffs.

“these will have to do. come.” they began to make their way back to the village to continue her tsahik training.

neytiri watched before leaving to hunt an actual animal.

when she was done, she headed back home to rest. as she made it to hometree, she kept her eyes down as she walked.

not paying attention to her surroundings, she bumped into someone. she looks up for a moment.

“i’m sorry, i- oh. y/n! hi.” she smiled.

“hi, neytiri.” y/n nodded.

“how are you? i saw you this afternoon with my mother, in the forest. how is the training?” she asked, holding her bow in front of her. she gripped the handle nervously while her tail swayed slowly side-to-side.

“uh, it’s going okay. excuse me, i have to…” y/n quickly moves away and walked away from neytiri, muttering to herself to calm down.

“she’s just a friend, she’s just a friend, she doesn’t like you, calm down, calm down…” she muttered rapidly.

neytiri watched and huffed. she’s always wanted to be friends with her but y/n never seemed to have any interest in her, at least in her eyes.

she sighed and decided to just get some sleep.

the next morning, she went out again.

“does she not like me? maybe i should work on how my face looks when it’s relaxed.” neytiri muttered as she filled a woven bag full of fruits.

“am i too mean? or maybe i said something to offend her.” she muttered.

her ears twitched in a certain direction when she heard boys howling with laughter.

she looks up and around her and doesn’t see anything. neytiri watches the still forest around her until she hears the boys again.

she dropped her bag and swiftly snuck over and under branches, until she reached a group of boys who were grouped together in front of the trunk of a tree.

one of them had their hands on the tree and was leaning against it, the other hand on his hip.

the other two were laughing with their arms crossed.

she rolled her eyes at them. “why is a tree so funny to them? they must be on something.” she mumbled to herself.

it wasn’t until one of them moved out of the way that she saw y/n with her back glued to the tree, gripping her woven purse in her arms.

“come on, we just wanna see it.” one of them laughed tauntingly.

they kept trying to take the beg from her but she was holding on to it for dear life.

neytiri watched as her lips started moving but no sound was coming out. she

“hey! get away from her!” neytiri snapped, her hand floating over her dagger.

“what do you- oh, it’s neytiri.” one of them said, his face going straight from cocky to horrified.

“come here, y/n.“ neytiri said calmly. y/n watches the bugs around her before quickly running to stand behind neytiri.

“get away from here. And don’t let me catch you near her again.” she yelled as the boys quickly ran away back to the village.

she waited until they were out of sight to check on y/n.

“are you okay? did they hurt you?” she asked y/n, examining her arms and face and searching for any bruises or scratches.

“oh, no. i’m okay. thank you, neytiri.” y/n said. neytiri moved a braid from y/n’s face and tucked it behind her pointed ear.

“what did they want? why didn’t you say anything?” she asked her.

“uhm..” y/n was distracted by neytiri’s face to answer. she suddenly was brought back to reality when she realized how close the two were.

“i found this baby nantang. and i couldn’t find its family, so i was going to put it here until the mother came. but then those boys came over and wanted to take it to eat it.” she explained sheepishly.

“let me see.” neytiri said. y/n nodded and opened up her bag before carefully lifting up the baby viper wolf that was soundly sleeping.

“is it injured?” she asked.

“no. but i am worried she will starve or thirst to death if the mother doesn’t find her.” y/n said as she stared at the sleeping baby.

they suddenly heard a growling sound come from a few feet away.

the girls quickly but gently placed the baby on the floor by the trunk of the tree and continued to run to another tree.

they climbed up the branches until they reached a sturdy one, one that was out of the animals view.

they watched as the mother wolf found the sun and carried it away. the girls let out sighs of relief.

they climbed down the tree again and neytiri checked on y/n again.

“let me take you back to the village. i feel better knowing you’re safe and away from those boys.” she offered.

“uh.. no that is okay, neytiri.” y/n said softly.

she started to turn and make her own way to the village but neytiri grabbed her hand to stop her.

“wait. you seem upset with me. are you okay?” she asked her.

y/n looked up at her with wide eyes full of confusion.

“what do you mean? of course i’m not.” she said.

“but it seems like you are. like you don’t like me.”

“what?! no! no-“ y/n expected that to come out louder than she wanted it to.

“did i say something? or do something? sometimes i say stuff that is offensive but i don’t remember saying anything to you.” she said quickly.

“no. no, it isn’t anything like that. uhm..” y/n scratches the back of her neck nervously.

“uh..” she then rubs her palms together.

then the back of neytiri’s hand slaps against y/n’s forehead. she then flips over to her palm as y/n stares in confusion.

“what are you doing.”

“are you sick? you’re sweaty and hot.” neytiri said as her hand went to cup y/n’s cheek.

y/n had to take it off before her cheek set on fire. she held neytiri’s hand and stared up at her.

“i like you.” y/n stuttered and struggled to say those three words but they made neytiri’s heart jump out of her chest.

“i like you a lot. ever since i have known you.” she said softly.

“you do? i thought you hated me.” neytiri smiled, laughing a bit.

“i could never hate you. you are the best girl i have ever known. you’re kind and caring. i have always been so shy around you because you’re so cool and intimidating that i never know what to say to you.” she said.

neytiri’s small smile grew wider. “i like you too, y/n.”

y/n sighed out in relief, finally having told her. and knowing the feelings were mutual.

“y/n!” mo’at called out, her voice thundering.

she seethed. “i forgot i had a lesson with mo’at- uh your mom.. uh i have to go.” she said rapidly.

she started to walk away but stopped. she turned and kissed neytiri. her eyes widened but she melted into the kiss just after a second.

they pull away from each other and neytiri was smiling.

“i’ll see you later.” y/n muttered before walking away.

neytiri watched her walk away and was blushing the entire way back home.

okay now time for my thoughts on more barista!reader x jb:

question, what do you think the drink actually is that jb orders? like, in my opinion, i feel like its just one of those really popular sweet ice coffees that most people like but its bc they don't actually like coffee and julien is like about to eat a spoonful of salt to cut the sweetness bc how dare she not drink every drop of this ice coffee her pretty gorgeous cool amazing barista girl crush made for her

THE ANGST i love, that's so something that i would do ngl, i can imagine julien being like gutted that reader would think they were coming off weird and stopped doodling on her cup and reader like blushing and smiling at her reaction

speaking of angst can you imagine the dramatics of when reader finds out that jb doesn't actually like her order...in my mind it's not even something reader loves it's just popular and they overhears phoebe or lucy with julien making fun of her getting a drink she doesn't even like and reader doesn't mention it until like a week later because they've been analyzing jb getting her drink

im picturing julien coming in and being like "same as usual ☺️" and reader is like "are you sure?" and julien is confused like "uhh yeah i always get that wdym hahah" and reader explains what she overheard and julien is internally panicking like 'okay this is it she found out and she's gonna hate me and think im a pathological liar'

omg what if from then on reader makes her something new EVERY time until jb finds something that she really likes

julien coming in during a rush and reader frantically ranting to her about how stressed they are but julien is sitting there listening to them like this 😍 and reader can't help but notice and then they're like "sorry i didn't mean to ramble on like that..." and all embarrassed

one last thought, julien coming in and getting her drink but then sitting on the couch or window seat and reading a book or doing work on her laptop and reader is checking on her every 0.5 seconds and they keep making accidental eye contact and smiling but neither will actually talk to each other (classic wlw yearning from afar)

i’ve been watching their gayotic podcasts, i started by watching lucy’s then julien’s and lemme tell you i love it. i’m someone who loves to take note of speech patterns and how people word things so it was interesting to learn more about them individually

as for barista! reader

hmmm. i feel like jb isn’t someone to order overly sweet things. like say fraps or something. black coffee or something 😭 a little bit of sugar like maybe a teaspoon is fine but overly sickening sweet nooo. she takes it though and doesn’t complain because at the end of the day reader made it and there was cute doodles on it and she doesn’t want to be like “aha hey… so i don’t actually like this”

she either chugs it down or splits it in half with one of the boys so she has less to drink. she wouldn’t put your hard work down the drain

reader finding out jb doesn’t even like the orders they make and they are like “YOU COULDVE TOLD ME”AND JBS LJKE “that’s true”

omg reader handing jb a new cup everydsy like “so this is peach ice tea” and the next day it’s like “so this is matcha tea” and maybe julien’s just extremely picky on her drinks but she’s yet to find something she likes

reader literally watching julien sit down and write lyrics or type away at her laptop and they make eye contact every so often but both are too scared to say anything so queue reader coming over with a slice of chocolate cake like “here you go” and jbs like “oh i didn’t offer it” and readers like “it’s on the house” and jbs like “oh.. thank you-“ and you stick your hand out like “i’m [name]” and she’s like “julien. i can’t believe we didn’t ask for each others names yet”

last tv show watched: you know, it's actually been really long since i've properly watched a TV show, so the answer to this is probably something silly like reruns of FRIENDS

last book/fic finished: 2 different answers here!! last book was iron flame by rebecca yarros (yes, i caved to all the hype and read it on the plane - yes, there were bits that pissed me off, but i mostly enjoyed it) and last fic was one of AO3 user venerat's landoscar masterpieces, "i'll kiss you first" <3

last book/fic abandoned: hmm... i tried to read this rom-com called "you & me: a mlm single dads romance" while on holiday in SA, and i just... couldn't make it more than 5 chapters in. the cringe (& the VERY american focus of... everything...) was just too much for me, especially because i tried to read this right after a super delightful wlw rom-com recommended to me by darling @duquesademiel. after that, this one just... couldn't compare. at all.

currently reading: well, i'm back to work, so my time for books has unfortunately dropped exponentially... all i'm actively reading rn is a bunch of f1 rpf fics, to be perfectly honest

last thing researched for writing/art/hyperfixation: "WHAT COULD CAUSE A SCANDAL IN THE REGENCY ERA" 🤣🤭

favourite thing that you enjoyed that never had an active fandom: ohhhh, i can't think of a name immediately now, but it's definitely some or other book series that, if it had a fandom at all, was so tiny that i was practically the only person in it 🥲

I hope you’re right cause I’d love that. I’m so tired of watching wlw led shows or any rainbow media in general being cancelled or under appreciated. I just wanna enjoy my gay little ships in piece 😭

On a side note, if they did decide to go that way, how do you think they’d go about introducing it in the show?

Yeah, I get that. We can only hope!

As for how I think they'd do it, though personally I would love if they explored polyamory and have it be an WednesdayxEnidxAjax polycule, they're never gonna do that so the first thing that would have to happen would be for them to resolve the EnidxAjax situation.

I think what they could do is that in season 2 they explore both Enid and Ajax having some kind of falling out (my preference would be for something amicable. They realize they just don't work together or something but stay friends). At the same time, they continue to explore the emotional bond between Wednesday and Enid, expanding what they built in season 1. We see Wednesday opening up more to Enid and even doing stuff for her even if it's stuff she doesn't like as much but knows Enid does while Enid continues to reciprocate and be understanding of Wednesday.

Both those plots can then culminate in a scene in the final episode where they realize that their feelings towards each other might be more than just friends (and perhaps they kiss)

Season 3 would then be where they can explore them actually dating.

Hopefully that makes sense and sounds good.

Honestly, I wasn't quite sure how to answer this! You likely didn't mean anything by it, but "bisexual het" really threw me for a loop 😭 😭 I would refrain from using that phrase in the future!

Anyway, I'm assuming you are looking for something like GSNK ❤️ Since I'm not sure what it is you like about GSNK, or who you are and what you usually read, I'll just recommend a bunch of stuff :p

I worked at a bookshop last year, so I'll start with my usual recommendations on LGBT+ manga/graphic novels (that are officially licensed in English). They're mostly coming-of-age stories. Linked is the instagram post with more recommendations, explanations, & summaries!

Also in this rec are: Manga with characters like Kashima (and relationships like HoriKashi)

I was gonna include a lot more, but this list is already pretty excessive 😅 This is scheduled to post tomorrow evening, but know I finished this at midnight!!!!!!!!!!!! (Happy Valentine's Day!!!)

Main Recommendations

My usual rotation of recommendations from back when I worked at a bookstore

Blue Flag by KAITO

8 volumes. My favourite series!! I have so many thoughts about it. Simplest way to summarize the theme of the series is in the first sentence, "Your best friend... or your lover. You can only save one." (implied: who would you choose?). Love triangle between the main character, Taichi, a shy female classmate, Futaba, and the main character's popular, childhood friend, Toma.

A lot of western fans complain about the ending, but I thought it was very fitting for the series. I might be biased because it's my favourite, and I can't necessarily justify myself without spoiling it >.<;; CW for homophobia & outing as a major conflict in a later volume.

Our Dreams at Dusk by Yuhki Kamatani

4 volumes. Beautiful visual metaphors. Main character comes to terms with being gay & overcoming his internalized-homophobia. CW for attempted suicide & homophobia.

The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang

1 volume. Focuses on gender identity and presentation!

Skip & Loafer by Misaki Tamamatsu

8 volumes (7 English localizations), ongoing. Has an anime coming out soon! I reread it recently and joined their fan server, but I'm just lurking ^^; I feel like people who enjoy GSNK would also enjoy this series.

Although it isn't explicitly queer unlike the other two recommendations. It's still very charming! I really like the main character and her aunt. Even though her aunt is a supporting character, the chapter that focused on her made me cry a lot. My favourite characters are actually the aunt and the drama club president (a side character... but given his role, it tracks LOL /hj) I remember when I first read it and didn't understand why people would call it WLW representation (I still enjoyed it though!) After my recent reread, I get it now >u< Even if it's not canon, I ship two of the main character's friends together. I'm very curious to other people's interpretations~ My wife doesn't really read the same things I do, so I have to wait to watch the anime with her when it comes out before we can discuss it together.

The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang

1 volume. Focuses on gender identity and presentation! I picked it up because I liked the cover and I wanted to read more things by Asian American authors. I remember telling my sister it reminded me of Miraculous Ladybug (likely because the main character is a dressmaker)

Most, if not all, can be found on mangadex. Not all of them are HoriKashi-esque, but half of them are

The Story of How I Went to a Mixer and There Were No Women There

Only scanlated up to ch. 8 unfortunately 😢 I've started buying the Japanese volumes but my grasp of the language has gone downhill since I graduated lol Pretty much as the title says! Some guy gets invited to goukon by a female classmate, but he and his friends find 3 ikemen when they arrive. Turns out his classmate and her friends work at a crossdressing bar! And they just didn't feel like changing back after work!

Story About How My xx Girlfriend Dotes on Me

Also known as The Androgynous Girlfriend is Doting on the President. A cute short series (with short chapters) about the class president (unnamed until the 2nd "vol") and his super handsome, cool girlfriend, Natsuki. Under her stoic exterior, she's a little spoiled and very forward about her love for the president! I thought this series was really cute! I want more chapters of them!!

Cigarette Kiss / Refrain Kiss by Yorumo (part of the Resonant Blue—Girl's Best Time collection)

2 chapters of a cute GL collection by the artist Yorumo! Kobayashi knows she's cute, and she flaunts it with the intention of hooking up with handsome guys! And to her luck, she was just assigned to work with the cool Akira. But it turns out Akira's a girl! The only GL in this recommendation list...

Ikemen Dansou Reiya ni Koishiteru!! by Yunoki

AKA I'm in Love with a Handsome Cosplayer Dressed as a Man!! Another title summary lol... Only 1 chapter has been scanlated so far. Is a remake of another series by the author with a (slightly) different title, but I recommend this version (restarted in 2022). The main characters have a lot of similarities to HoriKashi! Assistant cameraman Kippei is invited to attend a cosplay event for the first time to get practice photographing people. He is immediately captivated by cosplayer Makoto. Makoto is equally interested in Kippei (he has muscle from lifting heavy shooting equipment after all!), but, not wanting to disappoint him, she continues to pretend to be a man in an attempt to get closer to him.

Tonari no Kinniku Joshi by Ano Amesuke

A short series about a muscular girl and a tsundere boy Ruby (the muscular girl) isn't technically an ikemen, but I love their dynamic (maybe I just like tsunderes?) I also have no recollection on how I found this series but it was saved on my mangadex. Some parts of the scanlation read weirdly, and since it's a short series, the writing isn't the best, but I still enjoyed it!!!!!!

Not a manga but will include it anyway: the Taiwanese drama Bromance would also fall under this category! I remember when older HoriKashi fans and I would talk about how well it would suit them as an AU ^^

There's so many more I wanted to recommend for one reason or another (like My Crossdressing Senpai... I wanted to make a whole section about exploring gender identity or featuring trans characters... And then there's some that barely have any relation and I just think people should pick up like Ruri Dragon) but I've been working on this for the past 4 hours LOL

Do you have any TV show recs with really good romances?

oh boy, do i! one thing about me? i’m gonna watch a show for the romance subplot. but also this is such a broad topic, i’ll try to narrow it down into two categories: show recs with romance as a main plot, or at least a good majority of the plot, and show recs with romantic subplots that aren’t the main focus! so without further ado…

starting with the former:

bridgerton. i know there’s a lot of mixed feelings about this show, a lot of them are definitely valid, and while the first season romance is kinda meh (and questionable), the second season makes up for it completely imo. i was obsessed with kanthony for a good few months after s2 came out, just because the chemistry between the actors was just so potent and explosive. it’s a true enemies to lovers trope if i’ve ever seen one and it’s just so well done imo

one tree hill. early 00s cheesy teen dramas are kind of my kryptonite and oth is probably the king teen drama of all imo. i wouldn’t say the romance is the main plot of most of the show (and not a lot of the romance is great 😭), but it is a major plot point of a lot of the seasons. i’m recommending this for one reason and one reason only: nathan and haley. it’s a classic popular guy x nerd girl and they get together after she starts tutoring him in secret and i just love what their relationship turned out to be. haley is a badass and i Love her and naley basically raised me, so that’s why it’s here :)

doom at your service. honestly, i could recommend quite a few kdramas, bc a lot of them do have what i consider “true” romantic main plots, but i thought i would narrow it down to one. it’s about this young woman who has an extremely shitty day and wishes on a shooting star for the world to end, not knowing that the spirit of Doom himself is actually listening. idk how else to describe this show honestly, the main couple between the young woman and Doom is just soooo so so so good, it’s so sweet and very romantic, i just really can’t recommend it enough.

as i was starting this list, i realized i didn’t have very many true romance shows so let’s move onto the next category, which are the romantic subplots 😭

marvel’s runaways. i think i would maybe recommend this show before everything else just because it has a lot of similarities to gen v and the romantic subplots are *chef’s kiss*. i LOVED karolina and nico, one of my favorite wlw ships, and i also really loved gert and chase as well. it did, unfortunately, get cancelled pretty early but still well worth the watch imo.

agents of shield. another marvel show, honestly one of their most underrated shows. i’ve never really been super interested in the mcu, but i loved some of the older, adjacent tv shows (aos, runaways, CLOAK & DAGGER.) my favorite romantic subplot in this show is fitzsimmons, one of my FAVORITE friends to lovers ships, i think the way they were developed was so perfect, had just the right amount of pining, angst, and slowburn. i also love mackelena and may and coulson!

the wilds. okay, so i have a complicated relationship with this tv show, but just know that s1 is AMAZING. shelby and toni are another one of my fave wlw ships and don’t even get me started on leah and fatin…they weren’t a crackship, it was real to ME. i don’t wanna talk about s2, but s1 is definitely worth the watch.

anne with an e. gilbert and anne. that’s all i have to say. if you liked the rivals to lovers aspect in limoreau, you’ll love shirbert. also, it’s just a very cozy and comforting watch.

the good place. this show had me fucked up but in a good way. the romance between eleanor and chidi isn’t the main focus, but i think it adds so much to the characters development and to the plot of the show. even the crackships are good, tahani and eleanor had great chemistry, and jason and janet were just hilarious.

alchemy of souls. another kdrama and i want to preface this by saying kdramas, especially costume dramas like this one, can be super hard to get into. they’re very long (episodes can go up to an hour and a half) and often veeeery slow, but it’s TOTALLY worth it in my opinion because this show has one of my favorite romances EVER. that first season ending? oh it’s so good. i binged this in like a week and i couldn’t watch anything for a while after because i couldn’t stop thinking about it.

mozart in the jungle. probably the most obscure show on this list, and FARRRR under appreciated. as a classical musician who is currently studying music in university, this show was right up my alley when it came out. the romance between hailey and rodrigo is slow and a bit subtle at first but they were such a fun and dysfunctional duo that somehow fit together perfectly. they just got each other perfectly, imo. the ending left me heartbroken a bit, but i’ve since come to realize it was the best possible ending they could’ve given us and i’ve made peace.

I'm bi and 100% agree Tegan and Ace stuff along with that whole episode was lesbophobic. I feel like Graham came out of no where just to make Ace flirt with a man. I love graham but he didn't need to be there. It's not biphobic to be mad about it. Its not even bisexual. I hate when people use bisexuality to undermine the harm caused in media. People unable to not make a woman not revolve around a man romantically isn’t good rep for me. Especially since the show isn't actually doing any bi representation!!! They didn't write Ace flirting to be bi, they wrote it for her to be straight!! I've yet to watch classic who but it was still frustrating.

LITERALLY. the thing is like. the evidence for ace being canonically bi is that she gets with men in eu content but i don't think me not knowing about the eu content is like. a character flaw. and i also don't think eu content is conclusive in a time when like... not every writer would've picked up on ace being gay coded. and lots of lesbians get into relationships with men before they figure out they're lesbians, like having had relationships with men to me does not feel conclusive in this context. but like i think this is a really petty argument to be honest like i just don't think it matters that much if ace is bi or a lesbian. maybe not caring very much also makes me biphobic but 🤷‍♂️

but yeah like if ace in potd was written to be bi i would respect that obviously? honestly even just if that episode had been anything other but the most cowardly lukewarm homophobic piece of television i've ever seen. i would respect it. and like i don't know if we need a different word or what but like when i say it's lesbophobic i 100% also think it's harmful to bi wlw. but yeah like they literally went out of their way to establish attraction to men and not women for both tegan and ace and it's like... hm! like i honestly can't figure out if chibnall is outwardly lesbophobic or just completely clueless.

i do also think if ace is bi she goes for men with a LOT more gender which is why i keep saying i want her to have flirted with jack instead. i just think they would match each other, genderwise. but that's subjective, that's not discourse. even if she's a lesbian i think we were robbed of her jokingly flirting with jack like... 😭

anyway if you haven't seen ace's seasons i highly recommend it she is THE blorbo of all time. like. regardless of what you think of her sexuality 35 years later 😭 just beware it is like. the 80's and there's definitely at least one instance of completely unnecessary racism. but overall ace is literally everything i love her

HOWEVER!!!!!!! canon is my oyster and i decide what pearls to pick, so in my head foei and secretary kim will always be the peak of mlm and wlw besties and the truth is that foei is in a relationship with jay and secretary kim is going out with lian's cute assistant from episode 2 (it's a pity we never saw her again tbh), but one time lian almost caught jay and foei together and since foei is convinced lian would fire him if he found out about their relationship, he blurted out that he's actually dating secretary kim, so she's now helping him keeping up appearances because she is the best. jay thinks foei should just tell lian about their relationship and be done with it, but he's not gonna push foei if he isn't ready and the entire thing is, admittedly, pretty amusing (lian does eventually find out about it and of course he doesn't fire foei but he makes foei promise to never lie to him again. sometimes he regrets the decision because now that they don't have to hide anymore jay and foei have become the bane of his existence)

jadangie, OBVIOUSLY, i love everything about them, their potential is one of my favorite things in the whole world, i'll never say this enough but these two went through so much and they deserve their happy ending more than anyone else, they were never given a chance to just be around each other and i'm absolutely convinced that given just that they could be extremely compatible, not a day passes where i don't think about what would have happened had jade not rejected angie's attempt at friendship in s3. but like genuinely, these two growing closer is the only thing i want in my life and i find it so so so beautiful how a relationship that started like theirs could bloom into love, like it's just so beautiful to me to take these two women that were never given the chance to get along and to give them the opportunity to find comfort in each other and to become in the end so much more than what they thought they could ever be

natila, s3 was THEIR season and genuinely from a strictly canon pov, them and dieleon are 100% the gayest ships in violetta like they have no competition, they are DATING and they'll make it everyone's problem if needed, i love love love them and i should definitely talk more about them because my girls are underrated as hell, they genuinely perfect i love their relationship so much, like they're just. i watch any natila scene and i believe in love again, i just think they deserve the happiness they're bringing each other so so much, i love how they're so so sweet while staying a ship involving both cami AND naty so like it has to be chaotic somehow, i love how they constantly show each other all sides of themselves, like they're just....they're goals honestly like i want that relationship, it's so easy and fun and playful and nice they're everything

ludcesca, now this is the first time i'm mentioning them outside of discussions with friends, but i actually love them so so much they've lowkey been constantly on my mind for the past three months or so? i genuinely see so much potential in them and i'm not gonna elaborate for too long here but basically when marciego is your favorite ship considering ludmila and fran's dynamic is kinda something that just happens you know, and it's a dynamic that i actually find SO fun and that progressively became less "look at marciego's besties being done with them" and more "ok but what if they kissed", i have created a whole timeline for them in my head and incorporated so many tropes i love, but what i love the most about them i think is that like, i think that it falls in very nicely with the show's views on love? like what i love about violetta and romance is how the show doesn't take itself too seriously and lets relationships evolve organically without trying to sell you this One True Love thing, diecesca doesn't matter more than marcesca and even dieletta and leonara were genuinely respected for what they were, the endgame ships (outside of leonetta) don't try to make you believe they'll stay together forever, maybe they will, but what matters is that in this moment they're together and happy, and the friend group is so tight that there's no doubt in anyone's mind that if any of the couples breaks up, it'll all work out, because they're friends before anything else and nothing can change that. ludcesca falls exactly into that for me, a love that doesn't take itself too seriously, that brings happiness to the girls and will last for however how long it lasts, and in the end it'll all turn out alright because they're friends before being gfs and it'll come back to that eventually, i really really enjoy this type of love. anyway i'm gonna shut up about them, in the end i didn't really about about their dynamic but know that i'm definitely planning to write about them and that diego is THE ludcesca supporter out there and that he'll also never stop making fun of them for it

lumon my beloved, i'm not a clown i'm the entire circus but at least i can appreciate a good ship when i see one. genuinely lumon completely took me by surprise when i started the show, i really didn't think i'd fall for them but! things happen! anyway i love best friends to lovers, i love how they know they'll always love each other no matter what it'll look like, i love that their romantic feelings were never made more important than their friendship and were acknowledged as just another form of love between them, i love how comfortable and fun they are, i love how genuine everything is with them, i love how domestic they are, i ADORE how they see each other, i just love them so so much this is insane. they should be endgame and actually it's just the tiniest bit ridiculous how the man who wrote valiente isn't luna's main love interest like it'll always be the tiniest bit insane to me when i think about it

lumbar <3 i care these girls a lot and seeing luna yell at ambar in the s1 finale made me ship them SOO much more it's actually insane, like i've always liked them because you bet the moment i'm getting a sapphic mc i am NOT giving up on my main girl/mean girl ship no matter what, but outside of isolated scenes and a bit of tension here and there i was just really waiting for it to get to me, but this scene when luna finally snapped at her and called ambar out on her shit and genuinely had SUCH an impact on ambar? girl i loved this SO MUCH i watched the final performance so so many times just for them they're so GOOD, like i do have a lot of issues with the way the narrative handled ambar's change of heart but just. the impact luna had on her, the way even for a moment she came like a tornado in her life and shifted everything, i'm so so so SO looking forward to more of their scenes because genuinely this season finale changed me i think i love them so much, i'm gonna rewatch that performance actually because they <3

Usually I don’t think about it too much but it just hit me that my parents would really not like me if they find out I like girls. Like I don’t think I’ll ever directly tell them at all, especially not until I move out, but like man. If they find out it could completely ruin our whole relationship. It’s wild to think about it, and I think that’s why I try not to 😭

Idk I’m just feeling a little down rn. My mom gets upset at any difference from the norm. She even gave me a lecture today about why I have to wear a bra because “it dosent look good without it” when I made a comment about mine causing me back pain and making me uncomfortable. And she’s made comments about lesbians being gross (I’m not a lesbian but like she probably thinks the same of any wlw). And my dad is like. Idk how to explain it but like Ben Shapiro/Matt Walsh pilled? Like he watches those people so his opinions are uh. Yeah.

It dosent help that I have a “friend” (I’m pretty pissed at her rn) that’s extremely queerphobic to both me and my other queer friend. We got into a screaming match argument like a week ago bc she said she would drop my other friend if he changed his pronouns (he was trying to test the waters to see if it was safe to come out to her as trans and it didn’t go well). And in the argument she made loads of crazy ass comments to both of us. I was doing most of the arguing back but she said things like we were both queer bc of mental illness and trauma. And she said I was probably “interpreting my feelings wrong” when it came to attraction towards girls. And she made a “joke” about how I probably SA people because I’m gay and when I was like wtf is wrong with you she was like “you called me transphobic” and I was like???? BECAUSE YOU ARE??? She said she would drop our friend because he’s trans?????

And she doesn’t think she’s homophobic because she reads BL porn and she doesn’t think she’s transphobic because she didn’t send hate to Elliot Page and Hunter Schafer 🤦‍♀️

Idk if this is coherent I know it’s pride month and like yayyy it’s ok to be gay and all but I really wish I wasn’t it actually really sucks that people will just have a problem with your existence for no reason and you just have to deal with all these extra problems cishet people will never know about or understand and if you say anything about it you’re a sensitive snowflake who should just get over themselves ☹️

Like the online spaces I’m in really had me fooled for a good long minute about how the world really feels about queer people. Because it’s not good. I’m just glad I can come on here and see everyone be so accepting and nice because without this my mental health would probably be a lot lot worse

And I think I’ve mentioned that I go to an all girl’s Catholic school? But the school is like really accepting lol we have a LGBTQ+ club and there’s pride flags all around rn and everything lmfao. It’s nice that that’s a safe space too even if some of the students are really queerphobic, but that’s to be expected anywhere. It just sucks that all these pride flags everywhere make it seem like the world is very supportive when it really just isn’t. And the people who are unsupportive think it is because of all the pride shit everywhere and then I have to listen to complaints about how queer people are overreacting because “everyone is accepting now look at all the rainbows, you don’t face any oppression” and it’s just so 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ SHUT UP how would you even know anyways you haven’t spend one single day being queer just shut up you don’t know what it’s like to constantly be scared of losing friendships and having your relationships with your loved ones be fucked up over something you have zero control over just shut up you don’t know anything 😭😭

I think especially with stuff like aot its important to not spread it around. There are a lot of people who watch that show and are unaware of its issues. In those cases in often genuinely harms how they think of jewish and korean people.

But in those cases i think another good solution is to put a disclaimer that you dont support the media its from if you dont want to delete the figure

In general thank you for all you do. Anime (and by extension figure) communities have many issues with people not taking things seriously because its "just fiction" and it leads to a lot of hostility towards minorities. Ive always found your blog to be very safe though and its very appreciated.

😭 A headcanon about the worst thing that happened to them.

I lot of bad shit has happened to him, I don’t think I can choose a single defining thing. Some of the worst things though were probably the trauma from his upbringing, especially with Ted, Will being possessed, El “dying” at the end of s1, and the Byers and El leaving Hawkins.

I think the fact that he and Will literally had a guy die in their arms and buried him and didn’t even make a big deal out of it shows just how fucked they are.

🎶 A headcanon about music

oh my god. Where do I even begin? I would say that he loves alt rock, angsty songs that he can be mad about the world to, but secretly crying a little on the inside. I think he would have started listening to Metallica and black sabbath and stuff because of Eddie’s influence, but he sort of doesn’t like the screaming and stuff in it; it reminds him a bit too much of bad times (and of Eddie after his death). He loves Smalltown Boy (obviously), and Boys Don’t Cry. Maybe sometimes late at night he pulls out his walkman and plays Should I Stay or Should I Go. Sure, it reminds him of Will singing it in the Upside Down, but really it brings back memories of all the times Will had broken out into a huge smile when it had come on on the radio, since he was always too shy to ask to play it.

OOH and he loves Queen. He always buys the tapes in secret because of the names his parents call Freddie and the others, but when he listens to their songs he feels things he base t in a long time. Even though he might not realise it, he is drawn towards music about breaking out of societal expectations and about the need to just be yourself.

he is also unintentionally drawn to queer artists (Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Elton John, etc), maybe because their songs often have those themes of breaking free, maybe because he sees some of himself in them even though he’s not quite sure what.

It's finally Spoopy Season again, so I would like to offer up just a few of my favorite Spoopy WLW stories. I'll do two for each type of media. 👭🎃👻

Please note: I will NOT be including trigger warnings for this list. I am putting it together because I want to provide a useful resource but I am not cataloging these works and I definitely won't be including any kind of professional reviews. I just want to offer up some Stories I Like, and if you're interested in any of them, you can do further research on your own. :)

🌸TERFS can Fuck Off 🌸

First, Podcasts! I looooove podcasts this time of year, they do so much for queer horror fans!

1. Mabel

This podcast is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES, I listen to it over and over again because it does the Fae as the eldritch horror creatures they are but also the romantic and often tragic figures they are and, most of all, as Not Human, and I just... deeply appreciate the entire aesthetic of this show. It is told through a series of voicemails left by two women trying to reach each other across impossible boundaries and I am just so here for it. 😭💕

2. Alice Isn't Dead

This podcast is soooo creepy, but it also explores grief and loss and what it means to go on afterwards. Told through radio transmissions from Kesha, a long-haul trucker out looking for the wife who had been pronounced dead, only to show up on a random news broadcast months later, and then again and again, always at the scene of some unbelievable atrocity. The story follows Kesha's journey as she tries to work through the betrayal of being left to mourn by the one she'd once trusted most and solve the mystery of what exactly had led her wife to abandon their home after more than a decade of building it together.

Next, my favorite Spoopy WLW shows! These give me so many feelings, and they are wildly different but I like them, and this is my list, so. 😌

1. Killing Eve

I KNOOOOOWWWW, alright, I KNOW it isn't technically a Spoopy Season pick, but it IS an awesome psychological horror (my favorite kind 🥰) which revolves around the twisted and complicated relationship between two women who are each, in their own ways, deeply fascinated, even obessessed with murder and death, and in their pursuit of it, end up becoming equally obsessed with each other. This show makes me so happy because it is unapologetically horrific but also somehow beautiful. I always think of this as the WLW Hannibal, and I stand by that. If you've ever hung out with mlm and also wlw, you'll know what I mean.

2. The Haunting of Bly Manor

This one is so soft! It has so many feelings and I would argue that there is only one (maybe one and a half) genuinely scary characters in the entire thing, which I know makes it almost not qualify for horror wlw, but it has the horror stuff in it (ghosts, murders, and creepy kids, oh my!) This one is my comfort spoop, so if you're looking for something a little less intense this Spoopy Season, this may be the watch for you. I watch it whenever I wanna let myself feel Big, Soft Feelings but also be vaguely creeped out, and also wanna look at lots of pretty ladies doing pretty lady things. All I have to say is:

Finally, books! I'm going to rec a couple of books that I've either never or almost never seen recced. We all know about Gideon the Ninth (go read it 💕), but these books are ones that really did it for me when I read them and both of them were books I took a chance on and didn't regret it.

1. The Haunting of Heatherhurst Hall by Sebastian Nothwell

I've already written an actual review for this lesbian Gothic horror (I am using the word lesbian on purpose here, because it is the word the author used to describe it and it is important for textual context). This book is so gruesome and macabre and psychologically horrifying and simultaneously ethereal and grounded in the way it presents the story, a reflection of the characters of the two leads, as they are dragged into the tangled web of the seemingly cursed Heatherhurst Hall and the twisted ties of the bonds they've built with each other. If you love Gothic horror, old black and white movies, or scary lesbians, this is the story for you! Just be warned, this story is definitely not for the squeamish.

2. Women of the Dark Streets: Lesbian Paranormal edited by Radclyffe and Stacia Seaman

Hoo, buddy, this one is a MASSIVELY mixed bag. It is a collection of lesbian short stories, sometimes erotic, sometimes not, sometimes unabashedly horrific, sometimes softer. Some stories are phenomenal, some are terrible, and some are in between, but for me, the ones I loved have stuck with me for years. I DNF several of the stories, but I also read and reread some of them over and over again. Definitely visit Goodreads to get a feel for which stories sound right for you before just diving in, because a few are definitely triggering. I love horror that doesn't apologize for being horror, so this book held a lot of appeal for me, and if that's your jam, it might be an awesome chance for you to find some new favorite short stories, too. I'll say it again just in case, though, this might be one to miss if you're squeamish.

So there are my Spoopy WLW reccs for this Spoopy Season. Idk if anyone will read this, or if I just wasted an hour of my life writing a long post no one will ever see, but either way, it was a fun thing to do and if it helps even one other person, I think I'll call it good.
