Even at the end, Scar's "I'm gonna get you Pearl!" loses just...a tinge of the angry, bitter bloodlust he'd been baring throughout the session, and sounds almost playful

And then "she's dead scar. you won."

He killed the only person left who considered him a friend because she, in a sense, gave her life to him

It didn't start with the duel. It started with her hand of forgiveness.

I have many beefs with snk final chapter. Besides the well known points, I had thought many times how weird it was that after a 80% global destruction, we had actually got that "London" scene.

I read it, by necessary narrative logic, as if that city should be one of the last remaining places untouched by the rumbling. And it made glad that - when the guys went back to Paradis, Levi stayed behind, and were in the company of such amazing people = Onyankopon. With bonus Falbi. It made sense, and was a relief.

However, the fact that actually their struggles to rebuild was greater and more realistic now in the anime - that is what we got during that new Levi moment - was nice. I mean, the post-apocalyptic atmosphere and these circunstancies always made much more sense. Eren left the world in shambles. He literally brought hell upon Earth. If you want to make things realistic, this really was a fair little twist.

The focus on this still healing world concept, on this in the restoration process vision - I liked it.

Some actual sense after that erehmin manga end.

And, OF COURSE, the snk human with one of the biggest hearts in the whole world would get involved in that.

Which is no surprise. We all knew (and talked in our 139 aus) that he would, somehow, want to help others. He would be involved. It's just who he is.

Oh, I've ranted about it before in the tags of THIS POST but in general it makes me wildly uncomfortable. As an adult, the thought of hypothetically being forced back to high school is the fucking pits, you could not pay me enough to do it - and I even had a good time in high school! Five is almost 60 years old and they're going to force him to go to classes and hang out with teens? That feels bad from every angle! It forces Five to act in a way he'd only do under great duress and fucks his agency and autonomy as an adult so badly. There are better, more interesting ways to play with the consequences of his physical vs actual age than sending him to goddamn high school. There's other, less dominating options for the "he looks like a kid and never actually graduated" problem.

You do you if that's your jam, don't let a random dude on the internet yuck your yum, but Five in high school is a squick for me.

by any chance does anyone have any demon slayer fic recs where nezuko is actually more of a proper character and gets development and is allowed to grow? cause honestly the further i've gotten in this manga the more disappointed in it i've been with the lack of meaningful development, especially in nezuko

Definitely the smell of water-logged food. Forgotten dishes that have been left in the sink just a little bit longer than they reasonably should have... It doesn't occur often, but sometimes life happens and you just don't have time to do the dishes when you've got fiendish murder-plots to make and commit. It's why she opts to use paper or Styrofoam plates instead.

However, when dish-cleaning finally has to happen, it's almost always amusing and memorable for Dagny to watch.

Soggy food is also her second least favorite kind of texture as well.

Started watching SNW season 2 episode 3 and my eyes literally glazed over the moment they both came out in matching all black hoodie-leather jacket-jeans outfits and I couldn’t keep watching after that

(i'll protect you)' #(and that continues here obviously) and then the season ends w/ (...*part one of the finale has) her in the most danger she's been in so fa #kind of similar to 6.01 where she insists on dealing with red john like any other suspect and then she gets into 'the most danger she's...' #and it's not so much that she's being....punished by the narrative for thinking/dealing with things in that way #(although there are shades of that i guess you could kind of read it that way too) #it's just red john is NOT like any other suspect he's not even like the worst suspects she's dealt with he's just on a different level #also wild that her version of fixing this is at great (professional and personal really) loss to herself #they said 'never forget; lisbon is an eldest sibling (eldest daughter at that) #idk it hurts to see her do it and take the punishment so naturally but i do appreciate that they never let you forget how #that informs her as a character that's great for me personally #meanwhile that little blonde moron (affectionate) is over there again like 'i don't want you in danger' 'i don't want lose you' #he's EXHAUSTING but ON THE OTHER HAND this makes me crazy too because like #he's the civilian here and he KNOWS he's the civilian and the show makes sure YOU know HE knows #he is not a 'stay in the car' [immediately leaves the car to come help in the fight] kind of civilian #(like he IS but not in this way...you get it) #he runs away from fights; he shrinks and cowers when threatened/seeing a weapon; he still gags and uses a hanky at some bodies #like he's just a GUY and he fully embraces that and yet STILL #his first instinct - demonstrated most physically in the s1 finale and....most of s7 but verbally/emotionally throughout #is to protect her; in whatever way he can #and most times that's lying to her; keeping secrets; going off and doing stupid shit; putting himself at risk without telling her anything #but that's ok in his book (....maybe not ok but it's better) #him hurting her is one thing; it's something he might be able to come back from; he can work towards her forgiving him #(even if he does a piss poor job of it sometimes alskdj) #but her getting hurt because of him is not something he can fix; it's something neither of them might come back from #and no matter how strong and capable and smart (and amazing and pretty we get it you're in love with her) he thinks she is #he can't risk her getting hurt....so sometimes he hurts her instead #just kind of....spiraling over them. doing great. clearly.

#just gonna vent agaim #so I was making some traditional salad with my partner's mom (they're my parents as well at this point) #and I'm vegetarian right? so we were making two separate bowls of it #and my partner came to help and I switched the bowls to help and put the one with meat closer to her #and by instinct her mom put meat in my salad #and she panicked really bad but then it was safe because they managed to save like half of it that the meat didn't touch #we thought it was all good in the end #oh well until I got to eating my salad and I stop in horror realising that there. was. meat. in my mouth #and I didn't talk about it before but for me being vegetarian is like 20% for the animals and the rest because of the texture #+ I studied biology in detail in university and knowing what's in there disgusts me to the core #so there you have me gagging and running to the bathroom #and his mom felt terrible and she apologised to me so many times #I feel terrible because it wasn't even her fault #it's mine because I moved the bowls #I feel terrible because everytime I'm meeting with family I'm such an inconvenience because I don't eat meat #her mom and also my mom cook two separate meals everytime #of course I always tell them to let me cook for myself but they insist #I'm actually very grateful but I feel so bad #personal #vent #venting

it's pretty interesting how marvin's defining characteristics in pop culture are the blowing up earth to see venus motivation and 'where's the kaboom' "catchphrase", both things that come from and occur only once in his very penultimate appearance of the golden age era. but in addition to that, are more associated with his initial green/red design, not the gold/green palette actually used for those final two shorts.

what Does also contain that green/red design is duck dodgers and the 24th 1/2 century, one of the two marvin shorts included in the bugs bunny/road runner compilation movie, which also named him and uses a new illustration with the "classic" palette, and I'm guessing that's what embedded those elements into newer generations' public perception and later marketing. I dunno I just think seeing what factors are picked up most by pop culture surrounding classic media is neat!!
