Ok, so. Farmer boy is sad about never being able to see companion again. Country expects him to date the princess and fulfill the fairytale story despite them barely knowing each other and both knowing the city will never be his home. Actual Home Town still expects him to get together with childhood friend like they probably would have if nothing happened, but it did. Both of them changed, but most importantly, by growing into his destiny he outgrew the village. He’s not part of one or the other, but something in between, a wolf trapped behind wooden gates and stone walls. So, Farmer Boy leaves both behind and wanders (hey look it’s the post credit scene)

Riding across the country, searching for something do to, a problems to fix, a new destiny to be fulfilled. Farmer Boy ends up visiting the fishing pond for respite on his travels from time to time, just like it was a save haven during his adventures. Through those meetings, and with more time on his hands than before, they slowly befriend each other over all sorts of different things.

Genuine interest in that rolling game Hena made thats sitting in a corner. Both getting excited whenever Link beats another rolling game level, her making new levels and him beating them turning into a challenge. Oh your brother’s running a small shop at the edge of Faron? No way, my fam lives in Ordon, I even met him. Yea his soup still tastes like shit. Hey you gotta bring me some of that Yeti soup with fish sometime. Yea fishing is pretty cool. Let‘s compare fish notes. Woah that’s some rare guys you’ve got here. What do you mean your predecessor and maybe ancestor also managed to catch that mythically rare fish no one‘s ever seen in decades, that’s wild. Would be funny if we managed to do that too right? Haha, yea, that’s a fun thought. Yea.

Hey what was the price for canoe-fishing with staff supervision again

So they start doing that, but it’s not the right season so they prepare by scouring every lead they can find and Link riding across the country to collect as much info as possible on that fish, meeting in-between to compare and plan and just hang out together and maybe go say the fam and friends hi until summer arrives and they go out together on that canoe every day in hopes that maybe today they’ll finally manage the impossible. And that means more bonding time, during which Soup Brother gets befriended by Ordon villagers through knowing Link and also soup, and they realize that their own family member they haven’t seen in a long time has been doing the best they’ve been in a while thanks to the others‘.

But back to Farm boy and Fish girl, they continue canoe-fishing and bonding, and as the time goes by it becomes clearer that with each passing day they meet less for the fish and more for each other, and sooner than later summer is almost over and they still haven’t caught it. So they sit in that canoe together, maybe it’s even a sunset for that extra cheese if you’re into it, or not, and they go, hey, we had a good time. Promise this won’t be the end? And it won’t be.

…And if you’re up for even more cliche cheese on all that cheesy stuff, maybe right when that conversation happens, the fishing line suddenly gets pulled. Fast. No way?? They look into each other’s eyes and don’t hesitate before grabbing that fishing rod together, pulling as hard as they can, and there it is- the super mythical fish no one’s seen in decades. No way. No way. They got it. They actually- the fish pulls real hard and takes both of them + the canoe with them, swimming back into the pond and leaving them in the water. Ah well, that’s too bad. But now that they know it’s real and here, Link just has to keep coming back here after all so they can try again next summer. So, not that bad after all.

And in the meantime, they can maybe eat some soup with Ordon cheese and rare fish. :)

If you saw my last post - then you'll understand why I'm making this one!! Plus I'm showing off the amazing art by my friend Nere - I'm here to explain all my Next Gen's partners!! (Pearl and Kid's partners will just have to be explained later though.... sorry Kin and Otto.) I've added the chart again so you know the names of everyone in case for some reason it got confusing.. anyway!! ~ "Glitch, what did you mean in that last post that you couldn't have Guy and Darwin together?" ... welp I guess now's a good time to introduce the Next Gen's partners!! Starting with Pig. (Pig in a blanket Dog). If you remember in the show Guy said he was "born attached to his two brothers" - yeah. Echo and I have named them "Hot Dog Dude" and "Hot Dog Man". Dude ended up with a teen pregnancy (17, same age as Gum) which resulted in Pig being born. But Dude wasn't the best parent and didn't really want the responsibility.. so Guy stepped up. Ends becoming more of a father to his nephew than Dude ever was. Guy even legally adopts Pig at some point, and Pig sees Dude as more of an 'uncle' instead. (I'm sure that's confusing but idk man, it is what it is.) Anywaysss - Pig ends up with Zipper!! ("Childhood friends to Lovers” trope). Very sappy and in love!! The reason I didn't wanna put Guy with Darwin is because well.. Zip is Darwin's nephew. Wouldn't it be odd if your uncle is dating your boyfriend's dad...? ("Glitch, Guy isn't biologically Pig's dad though?" - I know, but it's.. the principal.. okay???) So I figured it's just easier to keep Guy and Dar as good friends. (I say all this as if there isn't confusing stuff later.. I'LL GET TO IT.) - Moving on; Leonard (Lenny) is obviously; Larry and Karen's son! (I did make a post recently saying that Larry is also married to Small, yep that's still true. Go read that post if you're confused though. Lenny ends up with Cas!! ("Friends to Lovers" trope. Yes all the GR kids have a 'romance trope' with their relationships cause I think it's fun!) -

Continuing down the line - Cosette ends up with Wessley. He is just an Oc with OC parents. Isn't a next gen of anyone in canon so there's not much to explain there. (their 'trope' is the "Coffee Shop Romance" btw!) I don't have much to say about them other than I love them!! (I love all my next gen ships.)

- Nezt up is Elliot who ends up with a boy named Rodney (Rod)! He is the son of "Shooting Star" (which I just say at this point is his name. Another Hot Dog Guy situation lol) As for Rodney's mom? She was an anonymous surrogate. I know who she is (yes it's another bg character, I'm sure you could figure out which one.) Rod plays a pivotal role in Eli's life, and ironically their 'trope' is "Second Chances''. They go through trials and errors but work though it <33 - Aaaaand finally for the twins; Roe ends up with Nimble and Rem ends up with a girl named Lei! Nimble is a fictional lizard/gator thing, a species I made up and still don't have a name for :') Nim was an orphan but eventually adopted by some of Cas' classmates (who, are adults at this point and are Oc's so no canon characters again.) Roe and Nim are the classic "Enimies to Lover's" trope - just like GumRob! Nim was Roe's 'nemesis' (it was more of a one sided thing. Roe hated Nim way more than Nim could ever hate Roe LMAO). Took Roe a while to even ADMIT he had any feelings for Nim. (Of course the whole fam teased him about it.) -

Rem ends up with Lei - the daughter of Chi Chi and LeXing. ("Who's LeXing?" - does Miracle Star sound familiar? If not, Miracle Star was the carbon copy of TAWoG which then inspired the "Copycats" episode that Chi Chi starred in.) Yeah, Chi Chi wasn't happy to hear his daughter was with a Watterson so their 'trope' is "Forbidden Lovers" but that's a much more dramatic title. Chi Chi was not happy in the slightest.. but it wasn't like he didn't allow them to date, ya know? - I hope this gives some insight on these guys ;v; and PLEASE go check out my friend Nere, the one who drew the 6 images of all the GR kids and their partners <33

Oh my God YES (Mostly Reed900 and Simarkus :D)

The first fic I'll always recommend to everyone is Leading By Example by Kurana. It's hands down the best Simarkus fic I've ever read, and one of the best fics I've ever read in general. It's got fake relationship to lovers, mutual pining, sharing a bed, emotional intimacy, good North content, dad Carl, even some minor dad Hank in the background, and a cool plot with Kamski that interprets his character a bit differently than I would but is just as fascinating and intriguing. I love it so much and it makes me feel emotions I didn't know I had. I still cry everytime I read it.

White Lilac by WritingIsMyCoffee - This has LOTS of Dad Hank/Anderson Fam content, which is why I read it in the first place. It's kinda Chloe x Connor centric, which I don't ship but I didn't mind it, and it was cute for the story. There's background Simarkus and developing Reed900. Very angsty, but has a happy ending.

From now on forever by KaterinaSentByCyberLife, if you like wedding fluff (I usually don’t, but this one is so good). Reed900, background Simarkus, and Dad Hank, it’s beautiful I love it a lot

Interstellar Methods of Love and Murder by wordscavenger. It's Simarkus and Reed900, and an AU fic. idk what the AU is exactly but they're gay and in space, shit goes down, and they have to stop it. It's got a super cool plot and the pining is real. I love it. Also has funny RK bros shenanigans.

and the secret garden bloomed and bloomed by farouche. It's a beautiful modern AU Simarkus fic and also Simon works in a flower shop and Markus is an artist who's drawn to him. There's also some funny Daniel and Simon being brothers content.

Heavenly Bodies by raphae11e - Simarkus canon compliant AU, everything's the same except the revolution lasts several months rather than a week, and there's so much mutual pining.

Turning the Tide by LupoLight and He's My Partner by LupoLight. They’re not related fics but I like them both a lot.

Nines is Nefarious by AndroidTrash800. It's a Reed900 Dexter AU (basically, serial killer with morals) and it's amazing. It's also funny and angsty but with a beautiful happy ending. Also Dad Hank <3

Time in a Tree and The Last Romance by SunshineHead. It's a two part series and it's so sad and sweet and ofc it has a happy ending bc I can't do angst without a happy ending but it def made me tear up. More Dad Hank <3 (Nines is called Conan in this series but I just downloaded it as an epub, opened it through the Calibre e-book editor, and used the find and replace feature to replace every instance of "Conan" with "Nines" bc I can't read him with a different name djfhsj)

GRIND ME DOWN by @texssins (texs_sins on ao3). I was expecting smut with casual plot and got blindsided by some excellent angst. There's also a twist that I SHOULD have seen coming but definitely didn't and it was awesome.

And of course, last but certainly not least, I have to recommend Adapt and Endure (the fic and the comic) by @aydaptic. It's a staple Reed900 fic. The second part - Liberosis - is great as well.

You know what, I want a fic where ikran racing is like a super big thing (think like the Pandoran version of derbies and all that) and is a big part of the culture. Nobody knows what to do with Spider who, being a human, doesn't really stand much of a chance but still seems intent on participating, so they just make him the clan ikran groomer to keep him out of trouble. Enter Neteyam, his best friend Lo'ak's older brother who's on the fast-track to take their father's place as ikran racing champion---or at least he was. Recently he's been having major trouble and things aren't looking good.

Imagine over the next few months Spider, who has like a shit-ton of knowledge about ikrans due to the fact that he's been the caretaker of pretty much all of them since he was knee-high to a grasshopper, helps Neteyam in secret to fix whatever's happening meanwhile they sort of fall in love even though they really shouldn't (for various reasons). Think of all of the themes that could be explored! Think of the angst! Neteyam strikes me as a brooder, so think of all the brooding!

And what's even better? This could also work for all you locorro people out there. Picture, if you will, a Lo'ak who's stuck in the shadow of his father (the greatest ikran racer known to Na'vi) and Neteyam, who seems to be following in the footsteps of their father's greatness. Desperate to prove himself, he comes to Spider for help (let's just say he and his ikran don't really. . . vibe) and Spider agrees despite all of his misgivings and fast-forward through a whole training/bonding/falling in love and finding themselves montage and boom!

How would either of these end? Idk. But man do I want this and if I don't get it I may just have to take matters into my own hands. (For some reason I just dig chill ikran caretaker Spider and high-strung, works himself to the bone to achieve perfection Neteyam or desperate to prove himself despite the fact that both him and his ikran are a mess Lo'ak.)

HOLY FUCK this is my favorite ask of all time. Alright that's it new tag folks: the people need this fic we are begging for it (please explore I have gone back and tagged appropriately).

-Spider is like, THE guy for the Omaticaya's ikran care. It's tradition that if you want to participate in ikran racing then you care for ikran for a year before you complete your iknimaya, but Spider has been doing this shit for years longer than anyone else.

-He's like an expert all of them love him, he's like the Hiccup of the Omaticaya he knows all their weak spots, their favorite foods, things they're allergic too, plants that bother them, their favorite places to be scratched: kid could probably ride everyone's ikran even without a rider, but only a select few people have noticed.

-Toruk Makto is the most famous ikran racer because motherfucker rides a toruk. He doesn't participate on toruk anymore after a big legendary competition, and the only person that rivals him is his equally legendary wife (who's better than him it's just toruk that makes Jake better lol)

-Neytiri is as good as she is because unlike a lot of other ikran riders, she does all the care for her ikran alone. It is something she has instilled in her family, but, they are busy. Busy running and leading their clan. So sometimes, Spider steps in. But still the amount of time they dedicate to their ikran compared to others means it's hard not to notice Spider's expertise

-I love the idea of Neytiri being like "yeah no one but me or Spider can touch my ikran, hands off"

-it's a slow build but that equal passion is their connection

-OBSESSED with the idea of the Neteyam and Spider version (getting too many asks about them, we gotta make a ship name poll lol), my bad if I focused heavily on that I might reblog later with the locorro one.

-Neteyam and his ikran bonded but have they bonded. He NEEDS to live up to the level of precision and skill that his parents have with their ikran. Hell, flying is how his parents fell in love! They go on date nights once a week still to fly together, bonded through their love of the sky. He just can't figure out how to translate his thoughts into actions through his ikran. His too wired and anxious all the time, and his ikran's thoughts are always a mile a minute.

-He knows Neytiri only trusts ONE other person to care for her ikran, and that person doesn't have anything to lose either so he goes to Spider and begs him to keep this a secret and to help.

-Without tsaheylu, Spider's bonds with the ikran are formed through a building of trust, care, empathy, and affection through actions. If Neteyam wants to build a bond and he can't trust his mind or his ikran's mind; maybe he can trust actions.

-Oops the bond is formed between Spider and Neteyam too, they slipped and fell into trust, care, and empathy born of actions!

-Neteyam like "how do my parents fall in love flying, flying is stupid and stressful and scary" and then Spider's wrapping his hands around his waist to encourage him to make his movements lighter and he's like 😳

-the jeytiri parallels i'll kill myself frfr

-Lo'ak is still in his year of ikran care pre iknimaya, so he's just around and bitching all the time in the background about how annoying Neteyam is and how perfect he is and Spider is like 😶 yeah he's so perfect 🤭 he's so annoying.

-Kiri has her ikran but would rather die than race, she feels it's inhumane to make the ikran race without asking them first. So she's just bitching the entire time, moping around Neteyam like "why do we have to race, who would even want to?" and Neteyam just REALIZES Spider does.

-He becomes determined to help him be able to race as well. I haven't decided how yet...

SNW and DISCO spoilers

so I watched the Una episodes of discovery with no other context. So it’s just the episode where they find the sphere and the last two episodes of season two.

they really go buckwild on this ship. Tilly is being eaten by fungus and no one tells anyone. Jett and the mushroom man get high and slap each other out of it. Also did Jett appear from the vents? Michael is having a family crisis. Saru asked his friend to help him commit ritual suicide and I think a part of his brain fell out. Also I didn’t know he spoke so many languages so that was cool.

they are so dramatic here. The shocked and horrified stares around at each other made the finale an hour long otherwise it would have been like 30 minutes. I expect this from Chris but good grief. The letters goodbye one bye one? Sarek and Amanda somehow showing up ahead of a whole fleet to tell Michael they love her? The sibling fight as the ship is being fired upon? (that one tracks actually) I like it for the big moments but are they always like this?? And is the “eyes up” thing a thing and why doesn’t Chris do it anymore?

I do like the found familyness I am sensing. The whole fam banding together to go with Michael was sweet. And their goodbye to Chris. This is the level of found family where I’d expect to find at least a few of those foster kid fanfics where they refuse to leave each other and the foster parents get six kids at once. I have not looked but I would be disappointed if there aren’t any.

Pike’s stepdad energy is so strong. The whole crew does what they want and loop him in when they feel like it. They are fine without him and have their own system and dynamics going on. He knows it, too, which is hilarious to watch from just knowing him from snw. He really just intervenes to keep his genius stepchildren from straying too far off the mission. They are running around like overexcited puppies (“the sphere is trying to communicate!!!!”) and he keeps them from gnawing on the walls. But he is a good stepdad in that he is ready to throw hands and use his ship as a shield so they can get away from section 31.

then as soon as he gets back to enterprise he brings all of the evil fbi apparently. Una is not surprised and has tricked out the whole ship and the shuttles for battle without prompt. She went Chris was out of my sight for too long we need to be ready to fight the galaxy.

and some more Una notes: Katrina Cornwell seemed tall and commanding until she stood next to Una and it was hilarious how small she was. Took me out of the dramatic bomb defusing moment but I still had fun. And Chris knew someone was going to die from that torpedo and got Una out as soon as he knew there were no other options. My pikeuna heart.

And Una choosing violence with the interrogation sent me. SNW fans know she has been hiding and afraid of scrutiny her whole life, and this is how she shows it. What a woman. She did not even tell them her name. Did we know she was Una at this point or was she Number One all the way until snw premiered?

“Follow the queen.” *Chris immediately looks at Una* I see you Chris.

it is obvious that they did not know how they were going to open snw with Chris being depressed and Una going missing but I liked their shock and happiness when Spock showed up beardless.

idk if I am intrigued enough to watch this whole show but I like Georgiou being their personal annoying gremlin. “Everybody hates you. Congratulations.” Also queen Po going if I die I die.

did not like Una going “in English please” to literally another navigator. We know she’s a genius let her be one y’all. If it were a science person going off a thousand words a minute I would allow it. But Una was talking to a pilot. Do better.

IN GENERAL, a good time. I was there for Una and she was not there much, but that was expected I guess. I was not prepared for how emotional discovery's crew would be. They are all in their feelings at all times. I liked them as a crew and maybe I will return one day.
