hello! would you be interested in releasing a little tutorial/guide on how to convert default skins for infants? i understand if you don't feel like it!

of course! it goes without saying that you need sims 4 studio (s4s) of course. also a photo editing program, you can use photopea for free! open s4s at the top click tools > create empty package. you should see this! click on add at the very bottom left...

line by line, copy and paste all the information down below into the "add" box that just popped up. Change the "type" to LRLE image, keep the group as is (it should be a bunch of 0s), and type in the instance numbers. (Ignore the red oval for now!) Make sure to double check! Save your package file!

Now all you need to do is important the images of the skin. All sim textures take up exactly the same amount of space and all their features are proportioned in the exact same spots so you can take any skin blend and slap it on top of a base and import it and you're done! The red oval above is the chubby state for infants and the other 3 are just default/average body states. (Even though I found like 8 separate instances of infant skin, only 1 was chubby and the rest default body states. The other 4 files didn't seem to change anything in CAS, I don't know why though!)

If you want to make more realistic alpha skin you'll need to make your own entirely from scratch, mix and match, or use another creators. (Even though all creators have open TOUs per EA's own TOU you should probably still ask just to be nice and absolutely give credit to them. And by credit I mean mention their name and/or link to their page, not any of that goofy "credits to all creators" nonsense!)

Hi, I want to ask a question I saw your post about substance disorders. So my character drinks a lot (basically every day) to escape emotions/memories and typically falls asleep after becoming drunk enough to fall asleep. It also has put a big divide between her and her in-laws (well they were considered in-laws.) Would that be something I could consider a substance use disorder? Or just alcoholic dependence. I don't want to portray something the wrong way or say it's one thing when it's not. Thank you so much for your time.

i'd say with something like that, it would be considered what's called, in clinical terms, unspecified alcohol-related disorder--there's some functioning inhibition there and problematic behaviors, maybe A Symptom of full blown alcohol use disorder there, but not so severe that it causes a complete upheaval in their life, and maybe not enough symptoms to meet a full blown alcohol use disorder diagnosis. i'd say alcohol dependence would be an appropriate term for them if they're using it to escape and to sleep.

i should have included this in the other post lol, but there's also different levels of severity in substance use disorders. mild severity indicates the presence of 2-3 symptoms, moderate severity indicates the presence of 4-5 symptoms, and severe indicates the presence of 6+ symptoms. idk if that information specifically is helpful but i figured i'd toss it in there.

Okay so first of all the lame but completely true answer is pretty much everything? lol. Any kind of art I don't already do is either 'GOD I wanna get into that' or 'GOD how did you DO THAT!!!' One that I really have no intention or interest in doing myself that blows my mind every time is like marble sculpture-- like first of all have you SEEN some of the crazy shit people have gotten away with making out of STONE, SOMEHOW and also on principle the idea of doing subtractive sculpting a) in general and b) on a BIG CHUNK OF BEAUTIFUL STONE gives me so much anxiety, I don't know how they do it lmao

9. What are your file name conventions?

There are so many artist memes about file names being something like dfkjhkdf(2).png that I wonder if I'm in the minority here?? but honestly usually just something short and descriptive, so I can hopefully know what a file is just by looking at it. I really only run into problems when I'm doing, like, a doodle page with no specific subject or theme and I already have a file in that folder named 'sketches' or '[oc name] doodles' or whatever-- I've got a handful of '[oc name] doodles again' or 'more [oc name] doodles' haha. If I'm going to post art in a couple of separate chunks they'll usually be saved as [file name] 1/ 2/ etc. I also sort my art folders by date, so whatever I just drew is at the top and I don't have to worry about what I named something to be able to find it pretty easily haha
