8 Marzo: questa giornata è dedicata al ricordo e alla riflessione sulle conquiste politiche, sociali, economiche del genere femminile. Il primo evento importante fu il VII Congresso della II Internazionale socialista svoltosi a Stoccarda dal 18 al 24 agosto 1907. Durante questo congresso si discusse della questione femminile e del voto alle donne. Un paio di anni dopo, durante la seconda Conferenza internazionale delle donne socialiste che si svolse a Copenaghen il 26 e 27 agosto 1910, si decise di seguire l'iniziativa americana istituendo una giornata internazionale dedicata alla rivendicazione dei diritti delle donne. Tuttavia in Italia si deve arrivare agli anni Settanta per vedere la nascita di un vero e proprio movimento femminista. L'8 marzo 1972 in Piazza Campo de Fiori a Roma si è svolta la manifestazione della festa della donna, durante la quale le donne hanno chiesto, tra le varie cose, anche la legalizzazione dell'aborto. Il 1975 è stato definito dalle Nazioni Unite come l'Anno Internazionale delle Donne e l'8 marzo di quell'anno i movimenti femministi di tutto il mondo hanno manifestato per ricordare l'importanza dell'uguaglianza dei diritti tra uomini e donne. Pertanto mi sento di dire che per rivendicare dei diritti non si deve necessariamente estremizzare, l'ostentazione non mi è mai piaciuta in nessun ambito, e credo fermamente che la libertà di espressione non deve limitare altre libertà e che per esprimere i propri ideali ci vuole decoro e non di certo per rivendicare i propri diritti bisogna essere fenomeni da baraccone! This blows-y poppy was blooming in 2017, a year ago. I noticed a similar poppy has shot up in the past few weeks nearby, but it is untended so likely will be slower to bloom. Ephemeral

Is a garden ever more beautiful

than in the month of May?

blossoming with a loveliness

that, sadly, will not stay.

The lilies’ color falters,

the rhododendron fades

but for a couple weeks we get

to view their many shades.

Nothing lasts forever

beyond its natural span,
