okay okay okay, thinking thoughts

So I find the concept of Names really interesting in Camlann, reading into the extracanonical stuff put on the tumblr is giving me food for theory crafting. The Catacylsm seems to be some kind of return of magic to the world (possibly heralded by the return of The King of the Britons in their hour of need?) and thus people with significant Names have access to something because of it. they fall into the stories of their namesakes; Perry, Gwaine, and Kay are Knights, Morgan is Morgana Le Fay, and we now have a Gwen in Shújūn.

Based on Kay's dicussion with Perry if more people can fill in the roles of their stories to more 'to plan' the stories will go, Of course this is not good news if you know the general end point of Arthurian legend (Betrayal, muderer, war, most everyone dead, the 'Glory' of camelot gone). It's inherently kind of a doomsday cult if you stay in those stories, you know where parts of this are going (i'll get back to this)

it also seems like there may be some, for lack of a better term, kin drama going on. There are 900 members of the court and Kay mentions that Peredur is a really uncommon name outside of Wales, meaning there are certain knights who are more common, i assume Lancelot's, Kay's, maybe a few Talisin's, a bunch of Gareth's, and like 50 Elaines like in the legends lol

We also dont have the context for how Names work full yet and neither do our characters. I think theres a lot of answers to be had with Shújūn/Gwen with how it works, how you know other than the buzzing in you're head and desire go through the motions and Follow the Story

Now, where does Dai fit in all this?

Dai doesn't have a Name, and I think theres going to be a point where he changes his name in a major way, but not to a Name, but a Bardic name. In welsh poetic and story telling tradtions Welsh poets, THE OG Bards, will take on pseudonyms tell their stories. This practice stems from the medievil era, but goes forth to today, and many modern Welsh and welsh heritage poets have connections to this tradition (Dylan Thomas' middle name was his great uncles bardic name, Sarah Williams published her work under the name Sadie), I believe it's also a requirement to have one if you intend to perform in the major Eisteddfod, (I am Australian so my experiance of Eisteddfods here is very different so if i'm wrong on that let me know)

Why would he do this? I think Dai is going to, at least try, to write him and his friends a way out.

Much ink is spilt over how Arthurian legend doesnt have an 'orginal text', and as such there are lots of stories that are inherently contradictory; Bedwyr is the best knight, but so are Gwaine, Lancelot, and Galahad. Mordred is some random king until his Arthur's son. Arthur has a sister, no he has two, actually he has three and one of them is an Elaine. This could be used to explain any doubles (are you my Gwaine), as well as why we see a few different spelling varients which are, the very welsh Peredur as opposed to Percival or Parzifal, the anglisised and more boarish Kay as opposed to Cei or Caius (this last one might just to keep Dai and Kay distinct tho). These variations are no more or less 'canon' than any other telling of the story, and so often the writer of a given telling of Arthurian legend is going to have their own bias. But things dont HAVE to end the way they always do, and sometime you need to have someone outside the story you're caught in to tell you a new one.

You are not locked into that ever looming cloud of Thomas Mallory and Le Morte d'Arthur.

Other evidence I have for this is that Dai sings at the begining of each episode, and sings in welsh at that. He also is, to a point our narrator, existing both in and out of the current narative. Also his name is an a lyric of Sosban Fach (a song i would be surprised if it wasn't in the show at some point) 'Dai bach y sowldiwr' which is also not from the text the song was based on. Tangential yes, but i think it's worth thinking about.

I think there is also something to be said about choice in what your name is and how it feeds into the overall theme of identiy, and how that plays into other themes at play in the story, like Transness, Imperialism, and Predestination

TL:DR; While he doesnt have a Name, Dai's gonna give himself an epic bard name and save them all by writing a killer hook to get them out of the story

Quick Note

Hey so, this post is most likely going to be under a massive idea category or something because I have a lot of artistic/fanfiction ideas that I want to create but I'm not sure which one to start with so, I decided I would start with making a list and then at some point spinning a wheel to pick from what fandom, and then what idea to make from that fandom.

To Get Started

Okay so for my main Ideas of what I want to post, mainly go along with Ccino Sans and Vantablack Sans, because those are my favorite sans characters.

I also really enjoy any Ink Sans varient, as well as Nightmare, Passive Nightmare, Dream Sans, and Shattered Dream Sans. There are also a few more like the core AU Sans's like Swap, Fell, SwapFell/FellSwap and a few more, if I start listing them off now I will have listed every AU.

Regardless, I want to do something like an Ask Box or a comic au depicting one of these ideas. I'm doing this regardless of whether people care or not, but if people DO care enough to want to see these things, feel free to follow and share what you would like to see!

But yea, just wanted to blog this first because I have a huge love for fandoms and Undertale is one of my top picks.

heheh ! thanks for asking anon :) Uusually I would base a winged au varient character's persanality on the bird species I'm giving them the wings of [Like I did w/ Ink [hummingbird] or Fresh [cuckoo]] but I chose Error's wings entirely on appearance alone, the nourthern jacana bird just Called to me fr fr </3. [these lovely birds have mostly ruddy red wings with bits of black spotted in, and then all the primaries and secondaries are these Lovely creamy yellows! absolutely stunning. They also have Real Yellow Spikes :)) [they're called spurs, and usually only used for fights within the species [rarely used to combat preditors]]] His personality is still based on a bird though! It's just Another bird, the Cracticus quoyi, or Black Butcherbird. This little sweetheart is known to impale it's prey on thorns for safekeeping and later eatings, and I just thought that screamed Error. He likes to hang up the souls as such, but also snacks and other such knickknacks in his web :D! [rather stressful to the dear Kestrel [blueberry] he kidnaps to be hung up by what seems to be a rather butcherbird like avian friend </3] He also likes taking naps higher up, and will make little hamocks and string swings to lounge around on; he's rarely ever on the anti-void floor proper, much preferring the elevated altitude of his strings.

more turnarounds! yay! lets get right into it!

starting with a new brush! this time of the octobrush varient,the octobrush Nouveau! this lovely thing has a wiiide ink pattern aswell as a heavier swing. ..but from what we've been told its quite slow and doesnt hold much ink.. it comes with the squid beakon as a sub and ink storm as a special.

next up we've got a new goo tuber! this time its a custom goo tuber! we uhm,cant really give a quirky description for this one because its literally just the goo tuber with a sticker! same specs n all. oh! but it doeees come with fizzy bombs and an ultra stamp,so thats something new!

Doodle sanses

doodle sanses are sanses usually made out of ink's boredom or made out of the creativity, they're made up to look like doodles 

they're made up of scribbles in the chest area, and are usually have simple clothing with round heads! They have large eyes, and small pupils, very simple legs ending in little stick feet, they don't have any arms and have no mouths either! They don't need to eat since they're a doodle but if they want to they can use their magic! 

The magic is their main source of carrying something or using/eating something!

Dod'l is the first Doodle sans, again as i said earlier they're little buddies you can find wondering around the doodle sphere! They're made up beings by ink, when he was experimenting with life and paint, they get made when he draws one using his painting skills he can make many different skilled versions! some look like paper, some look like shapes Etc!

Doodle sanses are a rare species/ varient of sans.

The "leader" of their small village at the bottom of the doodle sphere is "Dod'l" The first one to be made!

week 5

further developing creature design

practice rendering again, more detailed fur and flesh and create line art for a clean finish. practice anatomy again to make sure the creature looks believable and using plenty of refrences

the client didnt care for the dinosaur so that was scrapped. Worth a shot though.

He liked the arms on the second form of the border collie but prefered the retriever. so pretty clear what i can do there.

i asked my team mates what parts from the previous designs appealed most to them. Though i didn’t get insight from everyone, they told me they really like the arms on the collie(the client did to) and they also liked the dog skin on the retriever. so i started refining the second from for the retriever, using mostly the same references as before with some additional anatomical studies to guide me to something believable. i leaned more into the pterasaur parts with some vulture influence as i think they have a very weird looking nasal structure. i gave it an alternate pallet taking inspiration from kalinas tar black design and the monster from a video the client liked. it would also be easier to paint that texture as it is a little less detailed but i do feel like its also a little less interesting but thats my personal opinion. feels a bit tacky, reminding me a little too much of the Quiet Place, Alien, Bendy and the Ink-machine and numerous other horror type franchises with black monsters

created an alternate pallet to be less time consuming to texture later on and take inspiration from team mates concepts

practice dramatic ligthing to show case how the creature could be obscured in the final scene because teacher had shown concern in regards to the creature being too exposed and thus not evoking fear of the unknown anymore

i also applied these lighting painings to the black varient, which are fine i guess

Day 16, with a pokemon breifly mentioned by Rowan- Fahrenheit. All Rowan remembers of Faren is that they were best friends, but (Spoiler alert) it turns out that Fahren is also her mother, as her memories very slowly come back. If this was coloured, Fahren would look different from other arcanines, as this region also has ice-type variants. When an ice-type and a fire-type have a litter, there's a chance the babies will be of either type- which is why Rowan is fire-type, while her mother is ice-type
