just discussing PvP and the issues people r having with Blue hiding !! tagged discourse and crit to be safe but it isn't intentioned with either it's just me rambling
Okay I mained bads perspective yesterday but I keep seeing people say that Etoiles and Roier couldn't find anyone to kill for nine hours--and listen . Is it that they couldn't find ANYONE or that they didn't find who they WANTED to kill, because they did see Foolish and Cellbit didn't they? Two people in nine hours is SUPER ROUGH yes but they did run into red more than once and just didn't kill them so idk I'd be more into it if they really didn't see a single player for any time whatsoever but like. Just because they didn't see bad more than once ISNT the same; I think I just mainly take issue with the fact everyone is trying to give bad a hard time for not fighting while refusing to acknowledge the entire server wanted his head on a platter, why should he 1v12?? Like that's ridiculous how is that even content when he'd get curbstomped against that many people, every time people want to fight him it's only AFTER they gather at least four to six people to take him out like be realistic if you want to 1v1 id be like fuck yea but he knows that where there's one there's the rest of y'all not too far away I just do not get it he's not a coward he's using basic common sense (plus even when people offer a 1v1 they're ALWAYS in a vc telling their team where to go to jump him) that is there's One of him and An Entire Server who wants him Dead good as he is (and tbf i also disagree with etoiles calling their fight from the other day a 1v2 because it wasn't--it started as a 2v2 and fit ran because he almost died (I'm aware of the miscommunication btw I don't blame either of them!!! It really really sucks bc I'm sure etoiles could've escaped) but regardless it WAS a 2v2 that bad didn't even Want to take on initially, it would've stayed that way if fit had stuck around because he was going to die anyways ykwim but to say it was unfair when it didn't start off that way is eh 2 me mostly bc it sounds like they jumped Etoiles off guard as if Etoiles and Fit didn't engage them first) HOWEVER saying all that I think they really should try to encourage PVP in different ways than just "everyone go hunt down this one specific player" because then it's kind of just . Like that encourages that player to just hide because why would they fight that many people? Boosting the kill percentage helps but manhunts don't imo they'll just stay underground the whole time and I don't blame anyone who does outside of even Blue--like when Blue and Green were hunting Red, of course red is going to stay hundreds of blocks away to avoid PvP it's just numbers ykwim idk it's purgatory but when you being killed will set your entire team back because there's significantly less of you then everyone else I don't blame them really and I hope the admins can come up with a different way to try and get fights going

I think that my main takeaway from this is that while the miscommunication is one thing, and there was obviously a barrier there that wasn’t sorted out, I don’t appreciate the way the admin went about talking about it. I think that tossing tubbo into the hot seat and talking about his lore on another persons stream (who is not connected to the lore) was unprofessional and they should have reached out with a private message first to get some clarity or ensure Tubbo was done with the lore before assuming he was.
My biggest problem is how the fandom treated tubbo afterwards. They used both his dyslexia and known forgetfulness to make fun of and blame him for a situation he had only half fault in at worst. The fandom gaslight him into doubting his own abilities and did so to a point that is triggering to those suffering with derealization or disassociation (which Tubbo has mentioned he had episodes with in the past or something similar). The absolute worst part of it all is that we all read and interpreted the book the exact same as Tubbo did and instead of taking accountability, people blamed tubbo for being “too dyslexic”, “too forgetful”, or “too dumb” to interpret the book correctly.
It’s genuinely horrific how people think that he’s too dumb for his own lore (because he’s nd perhaps?) and that he’s entirely at fault for a simple miscommunication error. I hope he continues with his lore the way he wants because this is all such bs

I'll be honest, I don't think Phil's fitting to be a father or guardian to the other islanders in the way that the fandom sees him to be -like an ultra caring father whose there for everybody (granted, not everyone in the fandom interprets him this way, though it's a lot of people). I don't see Philza as someone who has the energy or even wants to care for other people in a parental figure way. Much less the emotional vulnerability to do that when he views them as an adult too, someone on his level since, that's what they usually are - adults just like him. The way that Philza comes across to me is just a person who wants to take care of his eggs (Tallulah, Chayanne) and that's it. And I think it's fine if he wants to mind his own business and not involve himself with drama/conflict that's happening.
I assume people do it because Philza seems to be the "old" one (old in quotations because there are other characters who are older than him) and from the whole bit of everyone calling him dad from his team in purgatory. But, trying to label Philza as an (adult islander)'s dad feels strange to me. Adults can just be friends with each other, it doesn't inherently have to be a certain role so that they can be a family.
There's only two exceptions that would make sense to me, one would be Wilbur (he introduced himself as Philza's son and Philza has said that Chayanne is Wilbur's brother, from what I remember- but take it with a grain of salt. it's just me going off memory.) Their relationship is something that they established as a father and son dynamic, Tallulah even calling Philza her grandpa before she was adopted by him and then changed it. The second exception is Baghera because she wants him to be a father figure to her, she wants that kind of dynamic with him. Even then, Philza has referred to her as a "friend" to his kids before when Tallulah asked if they weren't safe anymore because he doesn't actually view Baghera as a daughter. He sees her as an equal, a friend. Nor do I think that Philza will want to be a father figure to Baghera in that kind of way.
I've just been seeing people label Philza as other people's dad often and it's just not something that I understand, at least from what I've seen of his character.

actually okay it’s really funny because in both seasons of empires and also i’d argue in the life series to a lesser extent jimmy has this tendency to get in so many fights. and while some of this remains “jimmy solidarity is extremely bullyable”, in empires... that’s really not all there is to it. like yeah - stuff like his conflict with the wra and his current conflict with joel often starts with him being pushed around. but jimmy’s response is almost always to exacerbate the situation somehow, often going to unreasonable lengths himself. like. hm. a lot of the time while jimmy doesn’t really start the argument, jimmy is definitely the one who starts the fight. which is interesting to me! man has a short temper in-character when you’re paying attention, he just so rarely wins and the fights are often so petty that he comes across as unfairly maligned when he usually is actually giving nearly as good as he gets! he just has his perpetual underdog thing working in his favor.

yan chrollo's most efficient punishment for when you've been misbehaving is to make you talk on the phone with customer service or something similarly dreadful. perhaps the bank if you've been particularly troublesome.

i think im really sad that im feeling bitter abt this bc like. despite the fact that ppl are saying oh yeah its purgatory its never fair. i have a bad taste in my mouth that for once it feels like its not bc of player action its partially to do with weird ruling by the admins on the event (re: the essentially. disregarding of the event points on elimination which i still kinda dont get why they couldnt just retally the points since they had the numbers?)

other than pacing and feeling kinda monologuey I feel like the main reasons I’m not rocking with the tv show is bc it creates a series where it’s easy for people to feel bad for and like Gabe but think Sally is mean. Like from reading the books you get that he is abusive his comeuppance at the end of the book is memorable and important to who sally is to who Percy is. Sally is shown to always be the sweetest person brave caring and most of all loving. Percy gets his intense loyalty through his mom. I’ve seen many non book readers say they feel bad for Gabe and are like “well I wouldn’t want to watch the game alone either 🥺” but sally seems harsher and it’s like how do you mess up the characterization of pre camp two of the most formative people in Percy’s life.
it’s not the show watchers fault bc like that’s how the show is portraying it.
idk for a show that LOVES handholding people for every point with it honestly like verbatim saying the message of the gods suck and maybe the monsters aren’t so bad and consider other sides I don’t get why they decided to be subtle about the abuse Percy and sally experienced.
like the show is meant for kids that’s why it is being very repetitive and letting the monsters introduce themselves and all that but if it is trying to be so clear to not have anyone miss their messaging why would they leave important characterization up for interpretation.
with this version you say Gabe was abusive and the epitome of human trash you would get confusion and I think that’s a detriment to this ENTIRE season.

Dean making fun of Sam for being sexually assaulted in red sky at morning makes me so ill. It's so out of left field and pointless to the episode so I tend to just pretend it never happened for my own sanity. But then there's Dean rolling his eyes and sighing over Sam being assaulted by Meg in s1. Then again in s2 making fun of Sam for being possessed by a "girl demon". And like. It would make a lot of sense for Dean to not take woman on man sexual assault very seriously due to toxic masculinity for one but also being chronically sexualized his whole life? Like if a woman sexually assaulted or raped dean (and theres a good chance something like this has happened) no way would he take that at face value. He'd write it over in his head and convince himself he must've wanted it.

Been watching that long ass takedown of Lily Orchard's old SU video and my god I will never be over how she just like, continuously calls a queer jewish woman a nazi for *checks notes* having the main character of her PG children's show find a non-violent solution to the main conflict instead of just immediately killing the big bad guys.

seconds away from making a new spreadsheet for my rewatch where i keep track of times sam has been a hypocrite or manipulative towards dean, or hasn't owned up to his own actions, or has projected his own insecurities onto dean and twisted dean's words / put words into his mouth (all his "i'm a freak YOU think i'm a monster" whining etc etc)
