You've met the new owners and the new coaches... but before we learn about the starters, lets review what happened this week.

During the week

This coach has said he hates the preseason and has stated he won’t play his starters, but the Buffalo game was the second to last preseason game, which is when teams typically play their best preseason football. The team was flat, indifferent and generally unaware their was a football game going on. This is why, after the Buffalo game, the media decided to rip the new coach apart. On Friday, it was reported, that the coach was close to losing his voice. Hopefully that means that he was imparting football knowledge to the players.

I doubt this new coach is familiar with the AFC West. This preseason, the Raiders are at the top of the division. They have outscored the Bronco’s offense by 36 points last time I checked. The Chiefs have outscored the Broncos by 23 points. The Chargers have outscored the Broncos by 8. The most explosive quarter for the Broncos so far has been the second quarter. This preseason they’ve scored 20 points in the quarter. The bad news is that the opponents have scored 21. In the Buffalo game the Broncos traded touchdowns for field goals. All of these things need to change in the regular season.

Since this coach won’t play the starting offense on the field during the preseason, you could say there’s even more pressure on the offense to come out of the gate with fireworks. They will be injury free, they haven’t played. Do they know the playbook? Nobody knows. Are they in game shape? Nobody knows. Their first opponent of the regular season, the Seahawks did play their ‘starters’. They learned that the x-Bronco quarterback Drew Lock will not start for them this season. In his final game of the preseason, he threw 3 interceptions and one touchdown. I’m sure this is really disappointing for Broncos fans, as many were expecting game 1 to be Lock vs Wilson.

The title of each book is actually from the ending poem, and the ending poem for book 4 is Li Bai's Preface to a Spring Evening Banquet in a Peach Garden, which I've translated right here on my tumblr. Many lines have already been quoted through the first three books, and the title here is made up of words from the line "drink out of carved-feather goblets unto intoxication beneath the moon", but its meaning is to "pass the cup 'til we're drunk beneath the moon". I dropped the first few words for the title because it's too long. ↩︎

WATCH MARS DISAPPEAR BEHIND THE MOON If it’s clear on the morning of Tuesday, February 18th, you could see Mars wink out as the Moon passes in front of the Red Planet in what is known as an occultation. The Moon will cover up Mars five times in 2020, but February’s occultation is the only one that will be accessible to viewers in much of North and Central America. “You’ll have to get up before or at sunrise to witness the event,” notes Diana Hannikainen (pronounced HUHN-ih-ky-nen), Sky & Telescope’s Observing Editor, “but if skies are clear at your location, it will be well worth it.” Look for the Moon low above the southeastern horizon, where it will be a waning crescent on Tuesday morning. That means the lit side (or bright limb) will be on the left side of the lunar disk. The Moon will be moving leftward in the sky, toward Mars, as the occultation begins, and away from the planet as the event concludes. When the two meet, it will take about 14 seconds for the Moon to gobble Mars up. While the Moon would instantaneously cover up a star -- because stars, being so far away, are mere points of light -- the process takes longer for Mars because it presents a very small disk. The Moon will cover Mars for a period of time between a few moments up to an hour and a half, depending on your location. When the event concludes, the planet will reappear from behind the “dark,” right edge of the lunar disk. When Can You See Mars Hide Behind the Moon? So, at what time do you need to be awake and outdoors in order to witness this sight? That depends on where you are. If you’re on the East Coast of the United States or Canada, the event will occur after sunrise and will be largely unobservable, unless you’re looking with equipment such as binoculars. Midwestern locations should see the occultation begin in dawn twilight, with Mars re-emerging from behind the Moon around sunrise. For those out West, the Moon hasn’t risen yet at the time it covers Mars, but you’ll want to make sure you’re ready for the planet’s reappearance: Since the sky will still be dark when Mars emerges from behind the lunar crescent’s earthlit side (the portion of the Moon faintly illuminated by sunlight reflecting off Earth), lucky viewers are in for a treat -- if it’s not cloudy, that is. Here’s a selection of disappearance / reappearance times for U.S. cities: * New York City, NY -- 7:36:37 a.m. / 9:05:49 a.m. EST * Atlanta, GA -- 7:07:29 a.m. / 8:45:13 a.m. EST * Columbus, OH -- 7:14:47 a.m. / 8:45:48 a.m. EST * Nashville, TN -- 6:04:12 a.m. / 7:38:49 a.m. CST * Chicago, IL -- 6:07:10 a.m. / 7:35:02 a.m. CST * Kansas City, MO -- 5:52:48 a.m. / 7:20:43 a.m. CST * Phoenix, AZ -- 4:37:27 a.m. / 5:40:07 a.m. MST * Boise, ID -- Reappearance only at 5:49:02 a.m. MST * San Francisco, CA -- Reappearance only at 4:30:57 a.m. PST * Seattle, WA -- Reappearance only at 4:47:41 a.m. PST How to See Mars Disappear If you’re in eastern or midwestern locales of North America, you may need binoculars to witness this event if it’s occurring during bright morning twilight. If you’re using binoculars, hold them as steady as possible, perhaps by propping your elbows on a hard surface. A telescope will be even better -- if you don’t have access to one yourself, you can check your local astronomy club listings to see if a nearby club is hosting a viewing party. Observers out West will need nothing but their eyes to witness the reappearance of the Red Planet, but binoculars or a telescope will greatly enhance the experience. TOP IMAGE....Viewers in much of North and Central America will be treated to quite a sight on the morning of Tuesday February 18th, before or around sunrise. The waning crescent Moon will pass in front of Mars, making the Red Planet disappear for a while. As a bonus, Jupiter and Saturn hover nearby. A simple maiden from times long past, befell a vampire's bite and unwillingly received the gift- and curse- of immortality. For centuries she sought to murder the vampire who turned her so she could meet death, but it proved fruitless. She soon took up a peculiar mantle.... A vampiric vigilantess, vampire hunter, and protector of other women, feeding on lechers and predators; protecting innocents like herself from other vampiric entities. She's a lonely soul whose heart has grown hard and brave through what she's endured. 🎃 Pumpkin Spice: S O L D! They're playful but sort of unnerving, like they might turn on you at any moment, or say something really unsettling- maybe just to see you squirm. They are completely one with their magic, able to conjure shadowy illusions and slip in and out of shadows at will- even yours. Are they a villain, a rogue with a mysterious past, or an unexpected ally? 🎃 Doll Collector: S O L D ! A lonely aloof goth, she has a small circle of equally gothy friends into things like lolita, art, and doll collecting. Though she can seem intimidating and even rude, she's just quite shy and untrusting of most people, apprehensive of opening herself up to anyone that may be judgmental of her self expression. She comes upon a gorgeous doll, who immediately becomes her favorite- but that little lady turns out to be alive, from The World of Toys- and she's come to earth to find Toy Soldiers to help a war in her kingdom! Can they find the other Soldiers? 🎃 Row 3 🎃 🎃 Babydoll Banshee: S O L D ! A popular but ditzy prep, she's a starlet choir singer with endless circles of friends and a deep love for all things fashion, makeup, and socializing. She's your typical busybody teenage girl who thinks her life is all mapped out, from career to marriage- That is, of course, until some spooky circumstances happening at her school cause her to unlock a magical transformation into a beautiful, haunting ghost magical girl... and call her to action along with teenage strangers with similar powers! 🎃 Petite Velvet:  S O L D ! A stoic japanese schoolgirl still in middle school. On the surface, she's sort of bratty and hard to make smile, so she doesn't have very many friends- though a handful seem persistent in trying. She highly prefers the company of dogs, attracting strays wherever she goes. For as long as she can remember, when the full moon comes out, she is drawn out into the night- endlessly seeking something, but not sure what it is. What is the howling in the distance she keeps hearing? Who's calling her? 🎃 Prim Stitches: [SPECIAL SET, $48.00] S O L D ! Two young, spoiled, curious kids from rich families discover a secret passageway in a large mansion during a massive party.
