ONE — THE LAST TIME I’LL SEE YOU

8:36. You woke up earlier than your alarm. Or maybe you set your alarm at the wrong time and slept in. Either way, you have a lot of time before your shift starts. Your phone lights up and shows a text from a friend.

You checked the date on your phone. Right, it’s your nineteenth birthday today. Nineteen isn’t a special number; it just shows you have six more years before you’re an actual adult. That’s what you thought when you were younger. It is a special number. It was a number you feared because you knew someone was able to control your emotions. You expected to wake up dead, but you woke up the same way you woke up yesterday.

You looked through messages from friends and relatives wishing you a happy birthday. It would be a happy day if it weren’t filled with the smell of flour, tomatoes, and cheese. You groaned as you got up and went to your closet to look for your uniform. Your crimson t-shirt has now turned garnet red. You wonder if it’s your uniform or a shirt you bought weeks ago. You placed the shirt on your bed, knowing it’s probably not your uniform—it’s a red shirt; no one is going to notice.

You sat in front of your desk to do your makeup. As you look through your makeup bag for concealer, you notice that you don’t have a single beauty blender. You might as well treat yourself and get one today. You closed your makeup bag and put the shirt on. You lay down on your bed, waiting for the right time to call an Uber to get you to the pizzeria.

9:54. “Thank you!” You thanked the driver after paying them. You cursed yourself for calling an Uber during traffic and wished you had called them right away. The hostess greeted you when you rushed into the pizzeria.

“Wow, you’re only six minutes away before Jangjun scolds you for being late,” Karina deadpans. You eyed the kitchen to see if he was making sure your coworkers were properly making a pizza, but he was nowhere to be seen. “If you’re wondering where he is, he ran to Costco to find a gift for his girlfriend.” Not surprised. Jangjun tends to go places during work, even when there’s an angry mob of starving people.

“Happy birthday, by the way,” she said, handing you your apron, a notepad, and a pen. You put on the apron, placed the notepad and pen in your pockets, and headed to the counter to clock in.

It’s been hours since you’ve taken people’s orders, served them, and given them the bill. You would talk to Karina back and forth, the topic being mainly your soulmate. You only have a few minutes until you clock out; all you have to do is serve this couple a large Hawaiian pizza. You glared at the couple who ordered it—seriously, who the hell puts pineapple on pizza? You made your way to their table with the pizza in your hand. As you were walking, a running figure bumped into you, causing you to fall and drop the pizza. The man catches the pizza but leaves you on the floor.

“Don’t they teach their servers how to not fall?” the man asks, placing the pizza on the table.

“Don’t track stars learn how to watch where they’re going?!” you retorted as you got up. He scratches the back of his head and apologises. He quickly pulls out his wallet and takes out a twenty dollar bill. He reaches for your hand and places the bill in your hand, closing it afterwards.

“Take a twenty; you’re welcome!” he yells after he runs toward the exit. You should be mad at the guy and chase him down for catching the pizza instead of you. Instead, you’re calm and happy that he left, hoping that he’ll never come back. Maybe your soulmate didn’t want a sulky Y/N coming home from work. You grabbed the pizza and went to the couple to place it on their table.

After clocking out, you sat down on an empty table near the podium where Karina was standing. You complained to her about the guy who bumped into you and saved a pizza’s life rather than yours.

“Eric,” she mentioned. You hummed in confusion. “His name is Eric; he’s one of Kevin’s friends. He used to date Eun, Yumi, or literally anyone we knew; they’ve had a history of being together.”

Yikes. You ran into a guy who could’ve made you his girlfriend and would leave you in seconds. You took out the twenty dollar bill he gave you earlier from your pocket and placed it on the table in front of her. “He gave this to me before he ran off,” you muttered.

“It’s a trap!” Karina uttered, taking the money and stuffing it in her pocket. “He’s trying to win you over with a stupid piece of paper, a very worthy piece of paper,” she said, mumbling the last part.

A worthy piece of paper from such a worthless man. Though it was quite interesting to see him sacrifice a few bucks for a piece of dough he never got to eat. And those few bucks getting stolen from your own best friend—you might as well ask him for another when he bumps into you. After all, what’s the harm in falling into a trap?

Curse your soulmate for making you think positively of the guy instead of anything mean.

a/n: I hate this so bad but I needed something to write before I get booted out of enha writer land💀 send help(and requests🥲) Synopsis: The one where your bestfriend gets jealous and gives you all the reasons why he should be your boyfriend. Pairing: Bestfriend Jay X reader Genre: fluff, fluffy angst, friends to lovers Warning: the writing is awful and it barely makes sense. also one poorly written kiss. yay

“Reason number 54; i’d cook for you”

“Sounds convincing..” you noticed a small smile creeping up his face “but you cook for everybody” you looked at him noticing how he deadpans as you complete your sentence. “Not true! It’d be special” he whined at you. “Sure Jay”

You weren't sure how you ended up here. What was supposed to be a fun movie night with your best friend turned into him listing all the reasons he’d be a good boyfriend for you.

This type of conversation wasn’t necessarily a new topic for y'all as Jay was pretty flirty and pretty often too. You always took it with a grain of salt quick to brush it off knowing Jay didn’t have the cleanest of reputations with women.

He wasn’t a typical player or college fuckboy. He was a gentleman honestly… too much of one. His subtle flirty nature often had girls thinking he liked them in a way he didn't, leading to them being offended at the notice of another girl..and another girl..and another feeling the same. So it would be kinda messy and you tried to keep yourself out of it most of the time.

“Oh! Reason 58; your family loves me! I'd help your mom cook, help with your little brother. All of it”

Right. How did you get here? Well you and Jay were having your weekly movie night that you actually hadn’t had the chance to have in about 5 months with the assignments and school projects you both had being at an all time high.

Finally getting the chance to sit down and actually soak in your presence Jay wanted nothing more than to just wrap up in a blanket with you, some popcorn and yalls favorite snacks and enjoy the movie… but you. You just wouldn't shut up. Which he typically wouldn't have an issue with but you wouldn’t stop gushing about how cute the main character of the movie was. Failing to notice Jay's exaggerated eye rolls as he attempted to ignore your little fangirl breakdown. But what set him off was when you started going on about how ‘boyfriend material’ said main character was. Jay sat up setting his popcorn on the near coffee table and turning on the lights turning to you. “How on earth is he boyfriend material!? He's brushing his teeth” Jay says,voice laced with irritation. He folded his arms sitting back, a slight pout forming on his lips and you couldn't help but laugh at his sudden child-like behavior. “Whats funny? Im being serious'' he started sitting up intently and you knew he was preparing to go into a lecture.

You definitely didn't expect to be sitting here nearly 20 minutes later; tv still paused as your best friend went into his 60th reason for why he’d be a better boyfriend than the character on the screen who still hadn’t gotten the chance to finish brushing his teeth.

“Okay. how about this reason,um. 60. Id wake you up with kisses every morning”

Woah.

That was a topic that was never touched. Yes, there had been jokes about you both kissing when you were like 14 or 17 but it's been years. And it was never mentioned in such a serious sense.

Something so simple yet so domestic and now your heart was beating faster than it had in a while as you saw the serious glint in Jay's eyes.

He didn't fail to notice the change in your body language

“I mean if you want that. Of course I'm not trying to force you to be with me or anything. You know I'm just saying so you’d consider it. Only if you want though”

He's rambling. And you're rambling in your head.

Obviously by the 60 reasons he’d be a good boyfriend for you and the nervous tone he had he was being serious. It wasn’t just a joke anymore and you couldn’t help yourself anymore.

Reaching over resting both of your hands on the side of his jaw, you leaned your body towards him. As soon as your hands touched him, his found their way to both sides of your waist. Everything happened so quickly yet so smoothly and in no time your lips had met. It wasn't rushed or messy at all. The kiss was very warm, and filled with years of unspoken love. All the feelings that had been brushed away and laughed off now being poured into this one kiss. After what felt like forever you both pulled away looking at each other. Jay broke into a smile almost immediately as you just stared at each other. “So i'm assuming you like reason number 60” he said, giving you one of his signature smirks and tightening his grip on your waist. You just laughed a bit giving him a light smack on the arm and rested your head on his shoulder “can we finish the damn movie now” you ask as he laughs a bit turning the lights off and settling again.

Who knew what would happen later or what you both were to each other at this point, whatever it was, it was obvious you were no longer just friends.

UPDATED Run through of all the demon lore on Tina's 14 hour stream (and some funny moments and only half timstamped because im lazy and doing this for the second time):

- Tina flew for the first time confused, questioned if she was a god and pretended to be an angel to Etoiles

8:10:40 - started flying again and put on an echo-y voice and then a deep voice as she threatened Etoiles for diamonds but still confused why she could fly

- recklessly flying around and most times the echo voice was put on (demon voice??)

(8:35:00 Troubleshooting her demon voice and also states that apparently the flying wasn't planned and she has no clue whats happening)

8:39:40 - let the flying get to her head in that she'll be stronger and better than everyone else because she "forgot how good it feels" to be herself

(angel wings are faster than demon wings apparently)

- flew back to her house - insulting Cellbit's house and threatening him and being possessive of Bagi before realising how possessive she was being and decided not to be demon mode anymore

(Asked the updates admin not to tell others so she could keep the flying because she's a good guy)

(8:54-10:04 break of making a gift box for Empanada and just hanging around)

10:04:50 - she lost empanada and began to fly around and use the demon voice to find her and when Em questioned her flying Tina tried to move the situation on

10:18:35 - suddenly went into cinematic mode where it darkens on top and bottom with a bright spot in the middle in the shape of an eye then it kept flicking on and off and she promised not to do "it" again

- "No watchers necessary" the fuck does that mean

- a ring of fire started to form around her and Em and she begins to threaten the air and say she's has no intention of going home

- shouting that she shouldn't have spread her wings but she's not going home - is being threatened for flying and they've come to drag her back to hell as punishment

- got given a key called "you" and belives that the threat was also extended to the people she loves (Em and Bagi) so wants them to be fully protected

- mentions she has wings and is given a teared feather

- em is excited and wants to go flying but apparently its a "great sin" that comes with trauma and baggage

- "they don't like my type of flying, birds only I guess" hell linked to the federation?? Evil cuca??

- mouse can be told and Tina wants her there but BBH is a bottom of the barrel/last option because she gets annoyed by him (doesn't know if mouse fell or was born demon)

- it's a last ditch option to turn Em into a demon to survive but Tina doesn't know how to do that (if she fails to save Em "God so help [her]")

- giant fire appears on top of the hill and she comments how unforgiving and cruel they are because she's been the best (out of the demons??) And she's promised not to do it again but they're still taunting her

- chat and Tina get jump scared by an enderman

- doesn't want Em to tell Bagi but she will tell her she's a demon in either a month, year or century because she's surely awake or alive at somepoint

10:52:50 - Tina calls for a pause/cut so she can eat

10:56:56- got the shit scared out of her by the sudden appearance of a vat of acid in the lake (Em couldn't see but heard the burning)

(Em got Bad Omen for an hour and 30 and Tina fished up neptunium)

11:08:20 - a tree is lit on fire across the water and Em tells tina after it finishes but it starts again so she can see

- cinematic mode comes back and she begins to complain in demon voice to the "big guy downstairs" and doesn't know what the eye shape means questioning whether they're looking through her eyes

("Spending my Saturday night with my child" it's Thursday morning???)

- fire appears on the land across from the dock with a floating crown that then disappears before the fire

- quickly flies up a bit before settling and saying "interesting" - testing if there is immediate punishment??

11:17:42 - got the achievement "Who's da New King of Hell?" With an image of the crown from before and the step backwards and be lit on fire and tells the "dumb bitches" that she's not coming back

(Ben_Fox_ that was not the time but it was funny as fuck and you had an excuse)

- doesn't want Em to hang out with Mouse too much now - maybe doesn't know if mouse would also be contacted and how she would react?? Saving Em from more danger??

(Tina's scared that her lore could hurt Em and it can't happen because she only has one life)

11:41:15 - Em's favourite creature is a moloch and since she likes fire Tina wonders if she can live with her (in hell??? She'll have to eventually go back??)

11:50:11 - Tina mentions that Em "could be happy there" while she's staring at her Moloch pet/child - maybe if she took Em to hell she'd be safe than in the overworld

11:56:39 - tina tells Em to kill the bees' bloodline and praises her for her bloodlust and then uses her calm demonic voice to call her over to start fishing (the demon power is going to her head and its scaring her child...)

- Tina is now incredibly paranoid about everything

12:24:03 - Em disappeared and Tina immediately panicked and used her demon voice (but she just went to name her moloch Aelia) and then flew up a little - possibly to see if they would come back/she would be punished??

- started accidentally flying again while cutting trees but because nothing happened she continued to because it was easier

12:38:16 - Em tells Tina about her accidental trip to the Nether and Tina tells her not to go again because she doesn't want her to get hurt and she get get stronger if she hangs out with Uncle Bad a bit

(When Empanada goes off to put torches around Tina begins playing No More Birthdays by Sophie May and has canonically said this is how q!Tina feels about Em)

- was using her demon voice to compliment Em but then was messing around with the settings to make it high pitched

(Tina wants a lasso - take her daughter flying??? Please!!)

13:17:11 - realised that she had Speed for like 10 seconds and she doesn't know whether it's her "demon-like reflexes" or the pie but she didn't get it before so definitely demon shit

13:18:01 - accidentally flies again and then in demon voices says she's "changing" - return of her demon powers she can no longer suppress!!

(13:21:37 Met the English Bunny (his language was set to Portuguese, Xaninho/Agent 18??) That Em couldn't see and later named him Donny/Don-Don/Ronny)

13:27:55/13:30:47 - told Donny that the soul lanterns in her house weren't oil but lost souls she had collected but their not the ones of the people she's killed and used her demon voice scaring them

(Em nodding along to Tina talking about Ronny's appearance while not being able to see them and then proceed to fake sleep)

13:43:44 - Ronny finds the comments about fire and souls concerning so he questions the soul lanterns more and Tina explains they're not necessarily dead people but wandering souls kind of like catching fireflies

(Ronny tries to start shit between Tina and Bagi over the Giraffe and Tina threatens with her demon voice and is told to calm down)

14:10:48 - despite saying multiple times that she needs to only use her flying when needed she starts flying around Em again and then when Em gets her horse put Tina starts flying a few times to catch up/accidentally (really only stopping because Foolish was in chat)

#the thing is yeah she got to fly before phil and thats hilarious #but also he flies via elytra whereas tinas is creative mode double jump fly because she kept accidentally doing it when sprint jumping #when she was first flying someone in chat said “is this demon lore?/j” and oh boy no one knew what they were in for #key to unlock her true potential??#i feel bad em has to lie to bagi tomorrow #she ended the stream with like 45 empanada signs thats not a collection that is limiting her freedom of speech #qsmp tina #qsmp demons #qsmp lore #qsmp #do these rabbits get fed i swear ronny ate like 20 pumpkin pies

over the hedge (2006) could very easily have been another middling 00's cg disaster w an all-star cast, forgettable and kinda phoned-in like open season or happily n'ever after (which came out the same year) but i think its actually a thoughtful adaptation w a lot of really good qualities. its about deprivation and want, found family and stepping on others to get ahead, and (sub)urbanization encroaching on nature, and it has an emotional core n im deadass !!

its based on a newspaper comic that centers on rj the raccoon and verne the box turtle, who live in the woods behind a ritzy suburb and menace n befriend its inhabitants. the comic is usu 4-5 panels per comic, and story arcs can stretch across multiple comics. there r a lot of characters that come and go, both human and animal, tho the core group usually stays at three characters-rj, verne, and someone else relevant to the current arc. so it couldve been questionable to extend that core group of characters from three to eleven (11!) in the movie, but i think it really works out. they position rj as the main character, and the other characters have an existing connection with verne, so act as an extension of him and his character arc. hammy is based on a character from the comics, but altered a bit, and stella, penny lou and the kids, and ozzie and heather are all original for the movie. and they all get equal time with rj, at no point in the movie do u forget about any of them-the exact opposite actually, we learn things abt them every time theyre on screen. its a really great use of screen time and dialogue.

and the character arcs! in the comics, verne is the more philosophical, searching one, and hes more often than not the loser at the end of things, often the butt of jokes, contrasting rj, who is more cynical, an indulgent slacker who only puts effort into slacking, often making the aforementioned jokes. they have a charming and humorous relationship, tho it is very much established. the movie however, reads as a sort of prequel to that relationship-rj and verne meet for the first time abt 15 mins in. it also makes some changes to their characters-verne is the cautious, tactless psuedo-patriarch of a cross-species family while rj is a lonely starving scavenger who has to scheme for the things he needs. the inciting incident, a broken vending machine convincing rj to steal food from a hibernating bear acquaintance of his, which is then all destroyed, leading to him making a deal with the bear to get it all back in just one week, could lead u to believe his motivation is greed-hes a little raccoon, and he didnt need to take all that food. but the rest of the movie reveals his motivation is longing, and loneliness.

the opening credits are layered over a sequence of rj scrounging in the garbage for something to eat. when he meets verne and his family of foragers, they r frightened by a new hedge in their forest, which surrounds a new 54-acre housing development, and wondering how theyre going to find enough food to hibernate the following year. rj sees this as an opportunity to trick them into helping him collect the food he needs for the bear from the suburb. their first disastrous encounter with a human initially throws a wrench in that, prompting rj to lie about losing his own family to gain sympathy and trust from them. but over time, he begins to actually care for them-he's shown playing video games with the baby porcupines, listening to music with heather, encouraging ozzie in his acting, even checking up on hammy when one of rj's plans gets him hurt; in their final heist, he changes the way everyone sees stella, showing her that she's more than just her smell. but the very real danger of being eaten by a bear remains rj's motivation until the final act, and we r shown up to that point that rj does not think he can get anything simply by asking.

which is a great contrast to verne, whose initial motivation is altruistic-he's worried abt the safety and survival of his family, whom he's responsible for. they already had barely enough to survive, and now almost the entire forest is gone around them. verne feels threatened by rj's charisma and seeming capability, and intimidated by the unknown world of the suburb, which turns into jealousy, as the rest of the family warms up to rj and his ideas and change. in an attempt to get things back to normal after a pest exterminator comes to their suburb, verne inadvertently destroys all the food his family had collected earlier in a sick montage, leading to an argument where verne says some insulting and hurtful things. sort of expelled from the family, feeling chastised, verne reflects on his feelings and behavior, and comes to rj to apologize. at the same time, rj is realizing that he's kinda fucked-he doesn't have the food he needs, and he's torn apart a family in the process. he's about to come clean and tell verne the truth, when, in a parallel of the beginning of the movie, he sees the opportunity to have everything he wants-the food and the family. so they put together one final plan, to get everything in one night, and it works, until it doesnt, and the truth comes out and rj abandons them, allowing verne and his family to be caged by the exterminator while he takes the food to give to vincent (the bear). but faced with the reality of that decision, watching the family he always wanted be carted away to be killed, rj changes his mind, taking the food from vincent's hands to go back and save his friends.

their reunion is intense and funny and immensely satisfying. you're glad rj made the right decision, that verne apologized and was forgiven, and the mad-dash escape from vincent and the exterminator culminates in an impossible plan that works out bc its an anthro kids movie, of course it would have a happy ending. after the antagonists r defeated, there's a scene where verne formally invites rj into their family, and tells him that if he'd been honest with them, told them he needed the food to pay back an angry bear, they would've helped him. bc that's what families do. and rj says "i've never had anything like that," correcting his lie from earlier. and the but ive always wanted it goes unsaid, bc he has it now, and he knows that.

it is fully kravitz POV (oblivious fool, affectionate) and that's been fun to play with. taako is sooo loud in it though

it is nsfw but in a complicated way

it has gone through at least five different plans, 3 of them fully, completely different (remember when Bon appetit got cancelled. yeah. it used to be a BA test kitchen au like truly a thousand years ago)

i got frustrated with the b plot and had to rethink it deeply and it is on the back burner

it has important lines like:

He forces himself to focus and not to look at the reflection of Taako’s ass in the front of the dishwasher.

kravitz has his own little youtube channel where he does cello covers. so every time i need to chill and i listen to cello music i think of this fic. that means i often think about it in the bathtub

part of taakos cooking channel vibes come from me pretending to be on a cooking show at like, age 4-6 in the living room with all the play food. i often demanded an audience. im sure this shocks you people

also i always wanted an easy bake oven and my mom was like. nah we have a regular ass bake oven in the kitchen you're gonna learn that. but thats neither here nor there i suppose!

Once again, this is all @im-pure's fault, based on this post. They enable my angsty side so much.

They are the worst enabler /jk

I had this song on repeat while writing.

Can be seen as a follow-up to this, which takes place a few months later.

This was supposed to be an introspective kind of fic, but Liz sorta bullied her way into being here. Then it turned into Bax and Liz being catty in-laws. (but not really, they just mostly snark at each other- it's out of love)

TW 's apply here: character death and mentions of depression/depressive episodes. Remarks of implied alcoholism (Liz accuses, Baxter denies, but nothing is confirmed.)

Sidenote: Liiy didn't bother changing her last name when she and Bax married. One, she kinda doesn't see the point in changing her last name. Two, she found out how much of a hassle it was to do if she did change it and wanted nothing to do with that paperwork.

Elizabeth Last, Baxter is starting to truly realize, is an unstoppable force of nature when she wants to be. Case in point, she has apparently made it her life's mission to show up unannounced whenever she's in town.

Since she doing some type of job near Prima Vista, that means he's been seeing her a distressing amount.

Liz does, at least, knock first before she opens the door, using a key Lily gave her years ago. The light spills into the room and it's do bright, Baxter involuntarily lets out a curse. It's way too early for her presence. He checks the time on his phone, which reads 10:54 am.

There's the smell of food and even better, coffee. A peace offering, then. He'll take it. And mentally prepares of whatever uncomfortable topic she feels she needs to talk to him about.

He groans inwardly. Lily, he imagines, would find all of his hilarious. She was always far more patient with her sister's antics than he could ever be.

“Really? All you've been doing is drinking?”

Ah, an old topic it is then.

Baxter rubs eyes and sighs. “I didn't drink that much,” he says.

Liz hums. “That bottle of whiskey is suspiciously empty.” The tone is light, but the accusation heavy. It sets Baxter on edge.

“It was over the course of a few days,” he replies bitingly. “After work, and never excessively.”

“Oh great, you're back working. I was worried you'd be living on the couch, growing mold.” Liz places the food on the table. A veggie omelet with toast. Simple but decent.

“Unfortunately, my rent and bills don't care if my wife is gone and my depression refuses to go away.” He surprises himself with how flippant he can say that, and going by the look on his sister-in-law's face, perhaps she has the same thought.

There’s silence as he eats, and he notices Liz's eyes keep drifting to a stack of papers.

Or rather, the letters he's written to Lily since her passing. They help, sometimes. On the days where the grief is all-encompassing. Where he watches old videos on her phone just to hear her voice. There’s a voicemail on his phone from her on his phone he refuses to delete.

“You can read them,” He tells her. “It's not as if there anything particularly embarrassing written there.”

He flashes a grin; it feels weak on his face. “There's nothing to blackmail me with, I'm afraid.”

Liz hands lingers, as if she's unsure before she takes the topmost letter. “Other than that monstrosity dyed hair you had when you first moved to Sunset Bird.”

“Lily found it charming.”

“She had terrible taste. How she liked it, I'll never know.”

“I might add, she wished I never stopped dyeing it that way.” He finishes eating and takes the plate to the sink. There’s not much to wash, but Baxter cleans the dishes anymore, moreso to give him something to do.

There’s silence between them, but it’s not tense or heavy, despite their banter earlier. Eventually: “You have the most flowery writing I’ve ever read.” Liz pauses, her eyes softens as she reads. “She fell in love with such a dork.” She returns the letter back to the stack, but doesn’t reach for another. “She would talk about you a lot, after that summer.”

That surprises Baxter; the way she acted after they met in the restaurant three years ago, he suspected she wanted nothing to do with him. “I honestly thought she hated me for a while there.”

Liz smiles. “Lillian Last actually hate anyone? I highly doubt that. If she was willing to give Shiloh and that Jeremy guy a second chance, she definitely was gonna give you one. She was just being dramatic. She’s good at that.” A pause. “Was good at that. Sorry.”

Baxter nods his head. He understands completely. There are days when he thinks of Lily in the present tense; sometimes he expects her to come walking through the door, talking excitedly about her job. He misses those moments when they cooked together (or attempted to, in Lily’s case. She was a bit of a disaster in the kitchen.)

He misses the floral perfume she would wear, the way she would laugh when he swept her up into an unprompted dance, her snuggling up next to him even if it was absolutely sweltering from the summer night.

Liz leaves with a well-meaning snark, telling him she will beat his door down if anyone hasn't heard from him in a few days. Entirely unnecessary, but he understands all the same, and it's well deserved. His attempt to go no contact had everyone thinking the worst and the last thing he wants to do is put his friends and family through all the stress again.

Baxter looks at his stack of letters; his fingers itching to write another is too hard to ignore.

Giving into temptation, he sits and writes, pouring out feelings he can't get himself to say out loud. He finishes it with

"In the afterlife, or wherever you are, do you miss me as much as I miss you?'

It's been a good day today, you've been texting with your brother about your plans later on that day and overall it’s been pretty chill. Ideally, you were going to meet up with your boyfriend Iida as it’s your 2nd anniversary, so you eventually had to text “freckles” you were going to be out for some time.

Normal day, right?

5:30 AM 1/14/23

“you look fine”. you think to yourself as your standing in a mirror, adjusting your tie.

you’re very anxious about your presentation, i mean— it’s your second year together with your lovely ( soon to be husband ) Iida. You always make sure to dress your best with him.

you very carefully pick up the ring he gave from when you guys first got together off of your nightstand.

“I’ll love you forever, y/n”. Was the promise he made when he gave you it. His voice always sounded so clear in your head, clearing any fear and anxiety your had.

he was your other half.

your phone goes off as your receive a message, you quickly turn your head towards your phone to look at who texted you.

maybe it was just traffic.

but then, you start seeing cop cars, “caution” tape covering everything and big expensive cameras.

you begin to walk around so you can see what happened but then your heart drops.there’s two crashed cars, one of them is.

Your eyes wander for a second and you lay eyes on his limp, disfigured body. He was completely unrecognizable.

During Halloween week,Beatrice was busy…well,sort of, she had things to do but she was going to have fun doing them! Hence why she woke up so early and she’d love to leave the bed if Rooster let her, but her husband’s strong arms locked her in place, his lips pressing against her nape as he slept.

He said that he missed the sounds in their house and he slept so nicely when he was there. Bradley hummed in his sleep, nuzzling his face in the back of her neck as she smiled, almost regretting having to get off the bed because of how comfortable he was. So she allowed herself to stay put for a little longer.

She gently ran her fingers on the back of his hand feeling the lines of his tendons under the skin and the soft hairs that covered it. Rooster snores quietly behind her, his nose nestled between strands of brown that cover her neck, sometimes mumbling something under his breath that only made Beatrice’s smile widen.

God,how she loved this, how she loved him.

Him,Bradley Nicholas Bradshaw, her husband, her best friend - after Shells because the blonde would never allow competition - and the love of her life. When she was younger she dreamed of a guy like him, hell she wrote down what she wanted in her future partner and by God it was Rooster personified.

Okay it took her a few years to meet him, a few ‘yes’s’ throwing aside and a lot of ‘no’s’ being ignored. She kept brushing the back of his hand as she thought about it, it was absolutely crazy that they were still feeling like they were dating…hell she never felt like that with that one person she refused to name.

Her aunt Martha said something to her, when she was pregnant with Nicole and Rooster was away, that their souls were ‘always connected, no matter what time, no matter when, you were always meant to find one another.’

Weird yet endearing, just like anything her aunt said.

Beatrice sighs, rubbing her thumb over his knuckles then over the length of his finger, feeling his hold on her waist tighten and his face move behind her. He was slowly waking up but she didn’t move, she just allowed him to enjoy the morning.

Ever since he came back she tried to give Rooster more than enough time necessary to wake up, she wanted him to rest, she wanted him to feel safe while at home. His job was dangerous and hard and he needed to relax the second he got home.

A sharp inhale from him signaled he was finally waking up, this time for real, as he groaned sleepily while pressing his face against her back, “...mornin’.”

Oh she loved how deep his voice was when he woke up, “Good morning,sleepyhead.” she smiles, turning her head to look at him, “Did you sleep well?”

“Hmmmm…” he breathes in deeply, “Yes… have you…been awake long?”

“Not too long, I didn’t want to wake you up.”

“Hmm…” he hummed, closing his eyes briefly, “Nikki up?”

Beatrice checked the baby monitor, only to see Nicole was still peacefully asleep with Eleanor and Jack keeping her company, “Not yet.” she says, ‘It’s still early too,Roos. She’s going to take a little while to wake up.”

Her husband just sighed, pressing his front to her back tighter, nuzzling her neck and kissing the soft skin there, “Hmm…okay.” and his breathing got even again within seconds, his hold loosened just a bit but he hadn’t let go of Beatrice yet. Beatrice just chuckles softly, still brushing his hand, a bit surprised when she hears his voice again, “That’s nice.”

“What? Me touching your hand?”

“Mhm.”

Bea smiles, drawing random shapes on his hand, “Good to know,I’ll keep doing it then.”

His deep chuckle sounded so much more attractive than normal when he was waking up that it sent shudders up and down her body, “You know I love when you touch me.” and she was blushing, hard, when he whispers those words against her ear, kissing below the lobe and making a trail on her jawline, ‘And you know I could let you touch me anytime that you want,gorgeous.”

She giggles quietly, turning around fully when he loosens his hold on her waist, combing some of her hair back to keep her eyes on him…and she just stared, because Rooster had a stubble. Usually he shaved his face, but these past days he wanted to enjoy his leave and decided that he could do that before he got back to work…and he looked so good. He blinked groggily at her, wiping his eyes with a hand, “What?” Beatrice’s pupils enlarged, “What? What’s the matter?”

“God, you are so attractive,Roos.” it comes out as a breathless confession, something her husband wasn’t expecting but also wasn’t complaining. That boyish, proud smile appeared on his face, the one that made her knees weak and her stomach flip with butterflies, “You look good no matter what.” she runs her hands over the dark blonde bristles on his jaw, almost nearing brown in color, biting her lower lip, “You could literally have a full on mountain man beard and you’d look amazing.”

“Maybe when I retire I can do that.” he smirks, leaning into her touch like a cat, humming deeply within his chest, “That’s nice too. Your hands are so soft.” he turns his face to her palm, holding it with his own hand to kiss the middle of it, three little kisses before he looks back up at her, “What’s the plan today,gorgeous?”

“Well,” she continues her caressing, “We are going to go to Marcus first, then we are going to buy some Halloween treats and then we need to get some fresh pumpkins. Just one though,I want the others to be fake ones.”

“Hmmm…alright.” he smiles, closing his eyes, “Whatever you want,gorgeous.”

Beatrice just adored how he was still partially asleep, how his face was flushed because of the warm covers and how mussed his hair was, “How about,” she whispers, slowly leaning closer, “I make us breakfast,” one kiss on his forehead, “Then I make coffee just how you like it,” another on his nose, “And I can even add some chocolate chips on your coffee.” one final kiss to his lips.

With their mouths still connected,Rooster arched his brows, eyes partially open, “Can you add the extra creamy ones?” his wife laughed against his mouth, but nodded, “Ooohh…you are going to make me fall in love with you all over again.”

They laughed quietly, with Beatrice squeaking in surprise when he pinned her onto the bed, rubbing his stubble against her neck, smiling when she sighed softly and arched against him, “I remember you saying I look good with a stubble.”

“You look good no matter what,Roos.”

“Careful, we might never leave the bed if you continue.”

Beatrice smiles more, wrapping her arms around his neck, meeting his lips in a sweet peck before his forehead dropped against hers, noses touching, “Tempting.” she whispers, “But we have a lot to do…I’m going to check on Nikki and then I’ll prepare our breakfast-”

“I can check on her if you want.”

“Really?”

“Hmhm.” he nuzzles her neck, kissing the curve of her shoulder, “There’s a lot going on today and you don’t have to overwork yourself.” he whispers, kissing her lips one last time before pushing himself off the bed, “Atta girl.” she pushes herself upwards, partially turning her bottom to leave the bed only to hold back a scream as the warm and stingy feeling of his hand on her ass made her stop in her tracks.

“Rooster!” she whisper-yelled, glaring at her smirking husband who just leaned down to kiss the red handprint and tap the opposite cheek gently, winking down at Beatrice. She huffed with a gentle laugh, shaking her head as her husband disappeared behind the bathroom door, humming to himself.

Well, at least he was having a good morning.

He hears Beatrice leave the room, her voice muffled as she walks into Nicole’s nursery, greeting their baby and mentioning that ‘daddy was going to pick her up really soon.’. Then he hears the known sound of Jolene’s claws clicking on the floorboards, looking up from the sink as he washes his hands, “Morning Jojo.” the pitbull wags her tail, stepping into the bathroom so the pilot can scratch her head, “How about you and the twins join us on the pumpkin search, hm?” he smiles, scratching her behind the ear, “Maybe it’ll be something new…after all Nicole is going.”

Jolene just boofed softly, watching him with big honey colored eyes as if agreeing with him even if she couldn’t,obviously,speak back to him. Rooster dried his face with a towel, turned off the light and left the bedroom towards Nicole’s room where his daughter was already awake, chewing on a rubber elephant that Beatrice gave her before leaving the room, no doubt, “Hi honey.” he coos softly, making Nicole’s light eyes turn to him, “Hi,good morning pretty thing!”

Nicole gurgled a laugh with the rubber animals still between her gums, “Did you sleep well? Yes?” he leans over the crib’s railing and picks Nicole up, kissing her cheek soundly, “You are smelling so good, did mommy change you already? Did she?” Nicole babbled, fully alert without a trace of sleep in her body, “Yes I know, you look really happy to be awake.”

When he pulled Nicole back a bit, his daughter blinked at him, wide eyes and mouth closed before she reached his face with her hand, touching his stubble. He half expected Nicole to be scared or confused, or maybe think that the prickly feeling in her palms were too much and would snatch her hand away…but, their daughter was always full of surprises.

She didn’t cry, she didn’t whimper, she just touched his face with a bit more force - for a four months old baby - even squishing his cheek a little bit, almost as if she wanted to feel more of the strange sensation, gasping quietly with amazement, “Oh, you like it too,huh? So does mommy.” he smiles, kissing her tiny hand and adjusting his hold on her, “Maybe in the future I can let it grow a bit.”

He carries Nicole downstairs, Jolene right behind him trotting down the stairs as he hears Beatrice in the kitchen, talking to someone…this early? He slowly makes his way into the kitchen area, arching his brow when he sees Beatrice rubbing her forehead, “No,mamma, listen,” he arches his brows with a soft ‘ah.’ leaving his lips, “No,no, no we are okay. We are going to- no I know,I know…I know you know.”

Rooster bites his lip to hold back the chuckle, smiling down at Nicole as he places her in her bouncer, shaking her tiny hands a bit and kissing her small knuckles like the princess she was, ‘Mommy will come by soon,ok?” he kisses the tip of her button nose, “You are so cute, yes you are.”

“Mamma, please,I know.” she drawls off the word, sounding absolutely exhausted, “No,Brad is coming with me…yeah. We’re taking Nikki- yes I know, sunscreen and such,I know. No we won’t be long.” she looks up at him when he gets closer, tilting her head to offer him her cheek and he wastes no time in pecking it,walking around her to grab his coffee mug - that smelled absolutely divine, “Yes. Yes. No, just one becau-because it’s better,mamma. I don’t want people to destroy it, you know how some jerks can be.”

Beatrice walks closer to Rooster who was now sipping his coffee-chocolate mixture with a grin, opening his arm to give her room to rest her head against his chest, “Hmhm…yes I know. I know- no we don’t need cake. No we-yeah we got it.”

“Some cake would be nice though.” he murmured, holding back a surprised yelp when Beatrice slapped his chest, narrowing her eyes at him, “What?”

“...no, that wasn’t Bradley.” she narrows her eyes at him even more, “Mamma there’s no need to- okay, fine, what cake is it again? Hazelnuts and chocolate…yes I know that’s his favorite,mamma.” Bradley just watched the conversation with a little smile, watching his wife finally giving in to her mother’s demands, “Yes,I love you too…bye.” and she drops her phone to the side, letting her forehead touch his pectoral.

“Long talk?”

“Do not start.”

“What? I’m just asking.”

“You are literally the worst.” she says with a little smile, “But hey, at least we got free cake…for some reason. I keep thinking my mother believes we starve because every time she asks us if we have food.” he hums, kissing the top of her head, “Anyway, sorry, we were just chatting a bit about today’s plans.”

“Yeah?”

Beatrice walks away from Rooster to greet Nicole, immediately smiling and picking the baby girl up from her bouncer, kissing her cheek, “Yeah,” she smiles, “It’s possible that Michael and Leo and Cyn are coming to the Hard Deck for the Halloween Party.” Rooster blinked in surprise, tilting his head, “Yep,my parents are taking Bibi and Éwoyn out for Halloween.”

“Éwoyn is old enough to,already?”

“Well,she’s one years old,Roos.”

“Already?” he pauses, staring at nothing, “Holy shit.”

“I know right? Crazy.” Beatrice thanks him when he hands her own mug of latte after she sits down on the chair, preparing herself for Nicole’s breakfast, leaving the steaming coffee on the table as she feeds their daughter, “Doesn’t seem that time went by so fast, huh?”

It really didn’t and Rooster didn’t know how to feel.

Hell if that was just their niece…imagine Nicole? How quick was she going to grow? How soon would she turn one,nine,fifteen? Hell, twenty? He…didn’t like to think about it, not because he didn’t want his daughter to grow, but…he just wanted to see her be a little girl first and foremost, “Yeah.” he chuckles almost nervously, “Not at all.”

Bea gently brushed Nicole’s soft hair back with a soft smile, “You are thinking about it.” he blinks at her, “About Nicole and about time going too fast.”

Sometimes he could swear she could read minds.

“Yeah…aren’t you?”

She shrugs, looking down at Nicole, brushing her soft cheek, “Hard not to,Roos…it’s…something parents go through. Leo and Cyn are going through everyday…Bianca turned seven, you are aware of that too.”

Holy shit Bianca turned seven.

He met her when she was five. He needed to sit down, so he did. Rooster holds his head up by pressing his chin into his palm, looking right at Beatrice, “That’s fucking crazy.” she nods, amused by his reaction, “Holy shit, in four years she’ll be in middle school. Holy hell.”

“And Éwoyn will start preschool.”

“Fuck, that’s…insane.”

Beatrice smiles, looking down at Nicole who just was having the time of her life with her morning treat, “So…yeah,I do think about Nicole and how she’ll grow and how fast that will be. But I try to not worry about her so much, we just have to do a good job in showing her that she can and should enjoy her childhood the best she can.”

Rooster still hated the idea that his daughter was going to grow even more in just a few months and in a blink of an eye he’s at her college graduation or helping her go on road trips over the country. He sighed, drinking his chocolate coffee and licking his lips once he was done, “You are right…it’s just weird. I mean,look at Nikki.” he gestures to their daughter with his mug, “Look at how big she is already.”

“Well,she is a bit…tall for a four months old.”

“Soon enough she’ll reach my shoulder.” and he sounded almost disappointed by it, “...I don’t wanna miss it. I just want her to take a long time growing up.” and he frowns, shaking his head, “Anyway, enough sad talk about it…so, I was thinking about taking the dogs with us to the pumpkin patch.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah, you know how they get when we go anywhere by car.” Eleanor and Jack had to be latched onto the seats so they’d stay in the passenger seat, while Jolene just lied next to Nicole for the car ride, “And I think it’d be nice.”

“Well,that’s fine.” she says, buttoning her night shirt once Nicole was done and grabbing her burp cloth to place on her shoulder as she gently caressed Nicole’s back, “I don’t see why not.”

“And maybe take some pictures there.” he continues, “It’ll be nice when…she’s older, she can reminisce about them.”

“That is fine by me,” Bea grins, looking back at her phone when it started buzzing nonstop, “Ugh, I hope it’s not my mom again, you already got yourself some cake.”

“That I did.” he smirks, bringing the mug to his lips, “I regret nothing.”

Beatrice reaches for the phone to check who it was, furrowing her brows once she saw the sender, “Evelyn.” she says, “She’s asking if I can see her later today.”

“Busy bee, ain’tcha?”

She laughs, “I think she just wants to talk, we weren’t able to sit down and chat for…a while, you know she’s been working a lot, barely comes to the bar anymore.”

“Oh yes, Jake has been vocal about it.” he mutters, sipping his coffee, humming with delight, “Kinda annoying.”

“You literally do the same thing when it comes to me,Roos.”

“Yeah,” he shrugs, “But I’m not Jake.”

Beatrice rolls her eyes over her husband’s words, looking back down at the message with a slight frown. Evelyn sounded…intense, like she really wanted to talk, even asking if they could meet during morning time until Beatrice explained why she couldn’t go so early. With a quiet ‘hmmm’ making its way past her lips, all that Beatrice did was put the phone down and then look down at Nicole, “Well,I’m sure it’s nothing serious.” something in her said otherwise “We’ll see once I get there.”

“After everything..”

“Yeah,after everything.” Bea smiles, “Especially after pumpkin shopping and treats shopping.” holding out her fingers as she says so, “And tomorrow! We’ll decorate the house! Finally!”

Of course she’d be happy with that, she loved Halloween. “Yep and I can finally help you with it.” he smirks down at Nicole before Beatrice sets her on her shoulder, “It’s going to be a fun week.”

HAIIII welcome :) to preface this im normal i swear. anyway The Abyss is what i like ta call my Horrible Horrible Maze, i made it w/ the goal of making the worst possible experience in minecraft to torment my friends ^_^

I enjoy putting people in situations and studying them :D

On that note! everyone who runs the abyss (24 people at current count) I time and write a couple notes on them! the abyss is honestly half maze half personality test LMAO. at current moment the quickest time goes to @ghostpajamas with a baffling 03:24 (wild that he got out so quick, i win tho cause i haunt his dreams), and longest goes to the beloved @rendogdomesticated with 1:35:54 <3 special shout out ta my dearest @theoctagon tho wolff ur insane i love u. guy goes inta the abyss for fun and has like 10 pages and counting of insane person phsyical notes tryna map it out (hes reported that hes gone through the first one 60 times and the 2nd one 5 jesus chriiiistttt). the abyss is fond of Pilot :) also if wolff is the favourite than @potionofinstantdamage is the Least favourite, rude ass set the place on fire when he got stuck in there :( oof ouchie

Highlights from my notes include @quack-city running backwards and upon me asking Why, simply replied “what if there’s slenderman :(‘ ... cant argue w/ that! he also hadda stop mid run so we decided its funnier if he’s just stuck in there forever. @newtbeetle was in there for like an hour and would NOT shut up about Paul Dano the whole time which was a time (love u beebs. ur isnane). my two test runners are @kishdoodles and @officialgleamstar and they had about the same time but like Opposite reactions it was very funny, kish treated it like they were a streamer n kept a like constant chatter, and travvy was like DEAD silent the whole time n Intensely focused akjewkjr tbh outta all 24 runners trav’s been prob the most like, methotical bout it? LIKE I SAID personality test. i Love studying people.

In regards to its origins I came up w/ the idea back in like feb/march ish of this year and from start to finish it took me like 2 weeks ish i was on the Grind. u dont understnad how much black concrete this thing took. hell on earth,,, darkwoods has an economy/shopping district and i bought out like All the sand/gravel available akjwekjr the rest i hadda gather myself n God gravel sucks. also ive killed So Many Squids. the 2nd abyss was much easier ta gather supplies for cause i could ask for help w/ supplies n i kept the first one a Complete secret minus my test runners (i hadda bitch at SOMEONE while makin it or i wouldve died i think. speakin of the first abyss has a death count of 13 and the 2nd one has like, 5 or somefin? rlly shouldve writen that down akjwerjk those are Entirely me dying in the process of buildin them btw. its not a true Spain Build unless its mildly dangerous <3) The 2nd one also made me learn redstone, notably i specifically studied Tango’s decked out process vids from s7, tho i really only stole like two aspects of it n i couldnt even get one ta work properly LMAO

The second abyss took me like, wayy longer ta make, bout two months ish (i finished it like mid july). not necessarily in actual like, time spent building but cause in the process of makin it i had Two month long events i was in (Voiceteam in may and Art fight in july) so that distracted me a bit wkwnekeneie Im a bit more secretive bout the second abyss in general since not That many people have actually ran it compared ta the first n theres actually like, Things that can be spoiled in there <3 i like seein peep’s initial reactions its much more satisfying.

This didnt happen w/ everyone but i think a like, Core part of running the abyss is getting emotionally attached ta weird things. i wouldve said just torches until a few days ago when Tac (onea the rat server mods) ran it and claimed the stack of pumpkin pies i gave her as family. But Prior Ta That several people have had very intense emotions bout the redstone torches, whether love or hate or both, key example ft dog:

In regards to lore the abyss is a parasitic entity that infects anyone who gets stuck in there n slowly compells them ta go build their own lmao. note that ive only called the second abyss the Second one and not Abyss 2, because its technically just The Abyss as well cause theres many of them i just made it second wowjdkenejd (a real example of this is Wolff gettin obsessed w/ the abyss n then goin n buildin his own build called the Tower :) very excited bout that) The Abyss has a weird like fucked up warlock bond w/ my goddess oc The Overseer :D Her design’s vaugely based off my irl friend @hotcollectionoftubs cause her creation The Hole on a creative world her n some other friends of mine are on was onea the main insperations for certain aspects of the abyss’ lore :D mainly the teal in the colour palette and the whole ‘the [hole/abyss] provides’ thing.

Okay so now I've rewatched the Nickelback Doco Im just going to raddle of some thoughts that came to me about it.

I know they said Chad was the hardest for them to get to open up

I respect Windy for still claiming Mike as his even though Mike keeps referring to him as "Chads Dad"

And they get Chad to say anything on the whole situation there

And Chad and Mikes Grandfather Shooting Windy was a Politician in Alberta

They didn't mention how Chad used half of the money he got from his stepfather to buy magic mushrooms to then sell again at a high price to fund the first demo

They also left out some of the tactics Chad did when they were hustling in the early days ie. moving there songs higher in the charts and seeding that to radio stations

I thought they might of mentioned how long they've had most of there crew like a lot of those guys have been with them since the start

I feel like they didn't go really deep with how things went down with Vik and how he was kinda fired( the 1:54 mark here) and how he sued the band after words to make sure he got his royalties.

Didn't how long Ryan and Treana have been together like they've been together since they were 13

Also if you here a little girl getting called Caity you would never guess her full name is Acadia

If Mike had the stroke while they were recording No Fixed Address that means during the 2014 to 2015 era Chad had to deal with Mike's stroke, Avril's lyme disease, and him having the Cyst in throat. No wonder this is about the time I think he started drinking more.

Also they never mention that it was a Cyst and he had surgery they just say he got sick and lost his voice.

Avril didn't get much of a mention But I don't think came out of that whole situation okay.

NG: "1.) That song is called "Don't stop..." I've already recorded it. The reason it didn't make it onto "Chasing Yesterday" was because it didn't fit the vibe of the album. Needless to say, when I finally get 'round to releasing it, I think it will be one of my best ever releases. The sound of it is more akin to the first album, and I felt like "Chasing Yesterday" had moved on a little bit. But it's a great song, and I love it, and when I finally release it, you're going to love it (fans, that is)

2.) Eh - no, I haven't. I struggle to remember her name, to be honest

3.) No. That's it now, I'm afraid. The cupboards are bare."

2) How has touring and your creative process changed over the years? I mean, the music you put out now is quite different from the start of your career and I'm guessing there isn't as much partying behind the scenes as when you started

NG: "1.) Yes. I do feel like they should move on. But I don't mind answerin' the questions if they're from fans, because i know how much that band meant, and continues to mean to people. So in my head, and my heart, I've moved on. So it's cool

2.) There's certainly not as much partying in front of the scenes, that's for sure. Everything changes as you get older in life. You know, you don't attempt as much as you did when you're 47 as you did when you were 27 - whether that be length of time on the road, or partying, or amount of songs that you write, or the places you're willing to go to write those songs. The life of a musician in regards to gettin' older is just the same as everybody else's life as they get older. Your fucking shit changes. Not literally

3.) Eh - yes, Kasabian would be one of my favourites. There's a band called Neon Waltz that you should check out. I'm not sure... there's a band called Jungle. Fucking hell, they are amazin'. Other than that, I'm still discovering old stuff from the 60's, I'm afraid

4.) Dave Gillmore, Jeff Beck, Davie Bowie would be - fucking hell, that would blow my mind if he would even shake a maraca for one tune, that'd be great. Yeah

5.) Heh. He's a fucking idiot - I'm only jokin' - haha! He's a dj. He - when I'm on tour in the UK - he does my official after show parties. And he's a funny, funny dude

6.) I don't agree with streamin'. I certainly don't agree with the lack of royalties that I receive from streamin'. I realize that the world is changin', and the way that people receive music - and even the fact that I use the phrase "receive music" is a fucking disgrace. I would rather that people own it. But I'm not sure where it's all going to end, if I'm being honest

I couldn't say with any great sense of certainty, because it changes every day for me, but I'm going to say the song "Rock & Roll Star" because it sums up everything about bein' young, and bein' in a band, and the hopes and dreams of, you know, a young land from Manchester

And it's a fucking great song."

MadferitNYC: "Do you think a rock band in 2015 can reach the level of popularity that Oasis reached? Or do you think that the music industry is too dead for there ever to be a rock band that reaches those heights again?"

NG: "I think that the days of a rock band explodin' out of a council estate in the north of England and going on to connect with so many people in so many countries around the world... I think the chances of that happenin' again are very, very slim

But we live in hope."

Karmarghh: "Hey Noel, been a huge fan of yours almost all 20 years of my life. I have been lucky enough to see NGHFB twice recently and just want to tell you the new album is f***ing incredible! You, among the likes of Bacharach and Macca, are my absolute inspiration for pursuing a life in Music, so thanks for that. Anyway - couple questions for you:

1) As a songwriter, could you let me in on your approach to melody? I listen to yours and ask myself "why the bloody hell didn't I think of that?!". Do they really just pop into your head or do you find there is a lot of trial and error?

2) Reckon you can give me a kick-start and replace Mike Rowe with me on keys? He's a cool guy, but I'll do it for nothing. That gives me the edge right? Oh and I won't f*ck it up - I promise!!

Take it easy Noel, and keep doing what you're doing. Riverman blows my mind."

NG: "1.) Eh - it depends. The great ones usually just pop into your head. And seem to just fall out of the sky. And then some of them you have to work at. There is no golden rule or any rule set in stone for songwritin'. No matter what anybody might tell you, it seems to change from song to song for me. But I guess... I always, always, ALWAYS let the melody dictate the rest. I don't worry about the chords. I just let the melody dictate where the song's going to go and sometimes they're great and sometimes they're not

2.) Well, you're in! Cheap labor is my forte, haha."

NG: "Well - dogs in hats and sunglasses - there is *NOTHING* funnier than a dog in a hat

Ehm - I don't know. My sense of humor, I don't know. It's Irish, it must've been passed down to me from somebody in Ireland."

NG: "I don't play video games

I have a life. And that life is too short for video games

Some of my band play video games on tour. It drives me up the fucking wall. And it's one of the main reasons why I'll probably fire the fucking lot of them on this tour."

Shivan21: "Hi Noel! I've always wondered about the meaning of D'you know what I mean video, and especially the fact that there is Be Here Now and D'you know what I mean written in czech language. The video has very 60's atmosphere for me and they are also alluded by Beatles references. Considering the military choppers, could be the video understood as refering to the Prague Spring in 1968?"

NG: "No. Okay. The video for "D'You know what I mean" was shot on the deserted set of FULL METAL JACKET, which is still - you can still visit it in London - so it's an old, disused gasworks in London. The Czech writing, I'm not sure what that's all about, I thought it was Vietnamese writin'. The choppers was a reference to Vietnam. What any of that has to do with the fucking song is beyond me. I don't even know what the song's about, never mind the video!"

I would like someday to record an album in New York. I would also like to have Dave Gilmore play on a track for me. And Jeff Beck. I think that's about it

I pretty much just answered that question about 20 minutes ago. It's a song called "Don't Stop..."

I've already recorded it. It didn't make it onto "Chasing Yesterday" because it sounded a bit too much like what was already on the first High Flying Birds album

But it will be released, in, you know... soon!"

1) Are you still thinking about doing an album with Damon Albarn? What do you think about The Magic Whip, Blur's latest album?

2) What's your opinion about Dave Sardy's input on your work? Some people think that your latest work (especially your first solo album) could've been better without him and that producing Chasing Yesterday yourself was refreshing. I personally enjoy the Dave Sardy produced albums as much as any other album you wrote

Anyway, congratulation on Chasing Yesterday. It really is a great album."

NG: "1.) Ehm - the thing with Damon was a flippant comment as casually thrown around as "We should go for a drink." As for makin' an album, I would be amazed if either of us ever had the time to make that work. As for "The Magic Whip," I like the tracks "Lonesome Street" and "Ong Ong" - I haven't heard any of the rest of it, but if those two tracks are anything to go by, sounds like it's going to be good

2.) Ehm - his input was fantastic. And at the time, invaluable. And I couldn't have got my solo career off the ground without him. All that being said - you know, my record, this record, "Chasing Yesterday," sounds that good. With any producer, it's all about the relationship, as opposed to the skills that they can bring. But me and Dave, you know, still to this day we remain good friends, and maybe we'll work together again in the future."

In ALL of your interviews you've said that the original verses to 'Lock All The Doors' went to The Chemical Brother's 'Setting Sun’, which is weird, because the 1993 demos we have suggest that the songs original verses were instead used in 'My Sister Lover' and the verses that went to 'Setting Sun' came from a different demoed song 'Coming on Strong'. Have we missed something or does any of this sound true at all??

Oh, and what happened to 'Slow' and 'The Red, White & Blue'?!"

NG: "You should bear in mind that my memory's not the best

If you're telling me it's from a different song, then I would probably agree

I'd like to think that the Chemical Brothers story is a better STORY though

So let's keep that between us."

Is your work any different with the High Flying Birds than it was with Oasis? Are there any aspects from the Oasis days you miss?"

NG: "I miss... the camaraderie of being in a band, in the studio. That is to say, there are massive benefits - by makin' a record on your own, you can change direction very very quickly. And you don't have to run things by "the committee" of band members

On the other hand, it's great to share, you know... to share the greatness with other people, d'you know what I mean? If I can give you an analogy, you know, the more people at a party, the better

And I don't ever sit down when I'm writin' a song and feel like I've got anything profound to say to the universe... I just - to coin the phrase from that godawful film FROZEN...
